Mr. Nieves is an excellent teacher. Ignore all the stupid comment for dumb students. I got an A in mac1105 and until now I have A in MAC2233. He is alway well preparing for the class and shows a lot example, so if you do homework you will fine. Some students have bad grades in the class and rate the instructor low.

Greate instructor! His tests are 50% from the material present on the backboar and the other 50% homework. The most important is that I learnd alot, so is worty to do HW. The HW is the key to do well with Mr. Angel

I don't know what these people are talking about. I've had him for two semesters now and he is a great teacher. He may go a bit slow at times, but if you go to class, know the review sheets, you will do fine. He is extremely helpful, almost TOO helpful. These people who don't like him are idiots.

The class is really easy. He gives really good notes that they are very helpful. The worksheets that he assigns before each tests are exactly like the test, just study that, the notes, and do a couple homework problems and you should be fine on the tests. He also offers extra credit for each tests which is nice. Easy class, i would suggest him.

I took 3 classes with Mr. Nieves, Int. Alg, College Alg and Survey Calculus, I have A’s. All the students that do not exceed his class use the same excuse “his English” please his English is not the problem. His tests are done in some way that if you do not do homework and review his notes you are F***, but he tell you from day one.

He is very very nice! The best math professor at SFCC. Very helpful HIs English is sorta shakey but he's very understandable. Class was fairly easy... yes you have to study andtake notes but other than that your good to go! Definatly recommend to anyone. I'm not very good in math and I actually got a high B in his class.

The material was difficult, but he takes the time to make sure that everyone understands it. He would go over it several times if necessary. DO THE HOMEWORK!! Tests are very simple. Often times the questions come directly from the homework with only the numbers involved changed. Several times the test problems were from the textbook verbatim. DO THE HOMEWORK.

Math has never been my subject but prof. Nieves explains everything in a way that is easy to understand and he is really easy to approach if you have questions or concerns. He's great at what he does! I'd recommend him to anyone.

He is overall a pretty clear professor. Yeah his accent my get in the way at times, but he really did try to make us understand Calculus. I would recommend him to many people taking MAC2311, and would take him again if he taught MAC2312.

Took him for trig and would recommend everyone to take him!! His accent is a bit hard for some to understand BUT his tests come directly from his HWK, he gave everyone 100 for evaluating him, and his final came directly from previous tests, I finished within 10 min because I memorized the answers! Had him for Trig. He's a cool guy overall. Strong accent, but overall speaks quite clearly. The tests were extremely hard. The homework is not graded, but is practically required in order to do good on the tests. Lowest quiz is dropped, and the final exam can replace the lowest test score.

Best math professor I've ever had. You will learn so much. He really helps you understand and really cares about whether you pass. If you need extra help, go to his office hours! He encourages it. He doesn't grade the homework, but you need to do it to understand the material, and you need it to do well. He drops your lowest quiz and test grade.

If you don't love studying, DO NOT take this class. Plan to spend 25 hrs per week studying. Test Qs are very similar to HW and quiz Qs. You will fail if you don't attend daily. Do not expect an A even if you are good at math. A C from Nieves is like an Olympic gold metal. I'd be shocked if 1/3 of the class passes. However you will learn A LOT.

Hes a good teacher. Explains all equations and doesn't just say "Heres the equation, memorize it." He does not give study guides or anything. He allows you to drop your 2 lowest quiz and test grade. But if you dont take the time each day to study the material and do the homework you will fail

I took Professor Nieves for both PreCalc/Trig and Calculus 1. I'm in Calc 2 now with a different Prof and I'm making A's because of the strong foundation Prof Nieves provided me with. Take your classes seriously, go to G-14 everyday to do your hw, and you'll not only get A's but you'll also "understan the materrial." Good Luck.

Nieves was a good Calc 1 teacher. He doesn't take attendance, but if you don't go to class you will be lost. Prof Nieves is a great teacher. He has a passion for teaching. He once told the class to not be afraid to ask questions bc thats true learning. Took for Calc 2 and you can tell that he enjoys his job. All of his test and quizzes are based off of his notes which he posts online. He doesn't let you use a calculator, so if your algebra and arithmetic aren't strong I wouldn't recommend him. Overall he is great professor.

Prof Nieves is a phenomenal professor and is the best math teacher I've ever had. He is passionate about what he does and is there for the student. I highly recommend taking him. He has a unique way of breaking down the math. I can say that he truly prepared me for when I start attending UF. He shows you how math really works without a calculator.

Homework/handouts aren't graded, but quizzes/tests come from handouts/notes and homework. Practice all problems from handouts/notes over and over, and don't look at solutions while doing problems. Only do homework after you CORRECTLY COMPLETE all the problems from the notes. Go to class. No phones. No calculators. DO THE "DRAW!" ATTACK THE PROBLEM!

Nieves is the funniest/best professor I have ever had. His lectures and notes are very well thought out and presented. Everything is so clear when he teaches. Study the lecture notes as the bare minimum. Attendance is not mandatory and he uploads the completed notes as PDF files. I went to class because it was fun. Not only to learn.

He will keep u over time because he loves what he's talking about. He has a very clear and helpful grading criteria; he provides you with notes and homework (f you study those you will do well); quizzes are easy and tests are tough. If you take the 5 credit pre calc with trig class with him, you will work extremely hard. But then calc 1 with him will be extremely easy!

He is a really good professor! There are only 4 exams and the final exam will be replaced with your lowest exam. The exams are just like the notes so study them. Go to him for help and you will pass the class. Trust me this is not going to be easy. I failed the first exam and still was able to get an A. Don't give up.

I would definitely take this professor again. I took Calc 3 with him and he explained it well. His tests are very similar to his notes. He also puts all of his notes online. Calc 3 isn't an easy class, but he makes it possible.

The cream of the crop! He explains extremely well. The only thing is that he doesn't allow you to use the calculator on the exams. If you are good at arithmetic, don't worry, ignore this. If you are not good at it you will end up with a B+ as I did.

Show up to class everyday, and try to make a habit of redoing the notes over and over again. Every test and quiz basically have problems directly from the notes , so if you know how to do the notes, you know how to answer the test questions. Would highly recommend taking, because he structures his class to help make you succeed if you work 4 it

This professor took away my fear of basic mathematics. The only reason one wouldn't take this class is because they don't want to think differently. They want to live their life as uncreative robots. This professor enables students to think innovatively about mathematics which serves as training grounds to think innovatively in ones career.

He's my favorite professor, he has a lot of patience when it comes to teaching the class concepts. I got an A by doing the homework and STUDY HIS NOTES. If you study his notes THOROUGHLY, the exam will be easy.

My last 8 semesters in college have had a math course, so I have had my fair share of math professors. Professor Nieves was by far my favorite. He's funny, loves math, is caring about the success of his students, and explains the material thoroughly until he is sure his students understand. I really enjoyed Professor Nieves! I suggest taking it in a standard semester. He's really funny and doesn't bore you to death. He doesn't give homework and if he does, there's no checking it; it's for your own benefit. He doesn't use the online stuff and you can find the book pdf online so save your money!!

I was never keen on Calculus because of high school. But, coming to Mr. Nieves made me see how easy Calculus really was. If you pay attention to his notes and go over his notes the way he asks you to, you'll pass with flying colors.

Six homework assignments, 3 quizzes, 3 tests plus your final. Go over his notes multiple times and there's no way you won't get an A. He doesn't really check the homework. He's there to help if you're not understanding the material. Funny and teaches slow... his accent put me to sleep several times.

Prof Nieves is a good professor. He really wants you to understand the math. However, you need to put in work and go over notes pretty much after every class. Id only recommend choosing Nieves if you are already somewhat decent at math since stuff can get a little complex sometimes.

Took him for Calc 1-3. Easily the best professor I've had. I chose him for as long as I could. Really funny, has a hispanic accent. Three quizzes, three tests and a cumulative final. They are based and at times even identical to the notes. His notes are organized and then uploaded to canvas, so only get the textbook for extra practice. Great guy.

You can't believe what you read on here. Honestly I was very afraid at first because everything I read was negative. I've been out high school for 15 years. However, after a few weeks I loved this guy. He makes you work for it but You have to come to class to get his lecture and make sure you study what he goes over in class and you'll do great!

This class can be easy if you want it to be. 3 Tests, 3 Quizzes, attendance, and the final. But the quiz/test questions are straight from the notes. Spend an hour each day rewriting the notes and you're guaranteed an A. *DONT BUY THE TEXTBOOK YOU DONT USE IT* Funny guy and will let you out early some days. Just don't have your phone out!

I have taken Professor Nieves two separate semesters now and he does not disappoint. Although he is a tough teacher, he makes sure you understand the material and is very easy to seek help from after class. He is funny, kind, and I can tell he cares about his students. I recommend coming to every class, printing out the notes, and study weekly.

Professor Nieves is truly a great teacher. He posts his notes after every class, and the tests are basically the same examples with different numbers. He explains everything carefully and takes his time on each question so that everyone understands. It's easy to fail the class if you don't make an effort, so make sure not to skip class.

I took professor Nieves for Calculus II-III I learned a lot. Be prepared to practice, but he teaches you a great mathematical and logical approach, so you will be fine as long as you practice the notes.

He has a spanish accent, sometimes you mis hear him but he explains things very well. Just print out the note outline and copy what he does and you will pass. DO NOT MISS CLASS! He does not grade on attendance but if you miss notes its impossible to catch up.

I went into this class terrified bc i had no other option + the reviews seemed scary. Just took his final and i can say while this class makes you WORK, if you study the notes and can retain information you WILL pass. Period. His notes are pretty much copy and pasted into his tests/final. Funny, but pretty much unreachable outside of class though.

Mr. Nieves is by far one of my favorite math teachers. I had a hard time with calc I but he made the concepts in calc 2 extremely easy to understand. Professor Nieves is a great educator but the only things your grade is built upon are tests and homework. If you want to do good on his tests and ultimately his class then take a generous amount of time to fully read, understand, and practice the notes he has on Canvas. His homework is really short so find other resources to practice the material.

Material in the class was very clear and I never had any confusions. To pass his class, make sure you constantly review your notes and do the homework assignments. The tests are similar to the notes. Also, even though attendance isn't mandatory you are much better off going to class because his explanations make all of the material make sense.

He's caring, 3 exams make up most your grade. Almost every question comes from class/is similar, so reviewing notes is crucial. Got a B since I didn't study the first few weeks. Nieves made calc 2 very easy, he explains everything very well. He doesn't give a lot of homework, and you just need to study the notes to do well. The tests are straightforward and easy, I am definitely going to take him again for calc 3 next semester.

I took Calc 3 with Nieves a year ago. Yes, he has an accent, but stick with him. You'll adjust. His lectures are magic. He makes hard material feel simple and clear. His lessons from a year ago were so effective that now, in linear algebra, I still rely on what he taught because his explanations were far better and easier to understand.

He is a very good professor. He explains everything clearly and makes sure you understand the material. He also reviews important topics from trigonometry and precalculus when needed. If you go to his office hours, he is always happy to help and really takes his time assisting his students

Professor Angel Nieves was a good professor and I am taking him again for Calculus 3. He was funny and taught very well. And he was very approachable in office hours. However, if you are a bad test taker I would recommend against it since 83% of the grade is the 3 tests and the final. But his test are always very fair and similar to the notes. Hot!

His class is very manageable and easy to do well in because he sets students up for success! 3 tests and a final worth 80% of the grade, but they're very fair if you study the notes since the test questions come directly from them. He reviews quizzes and tests so you know how to improve. He does have a thick Spanish accent, but it's understandable.
