Useless teacher. Didn't grade or give feedback until 5 weeks after class started (in summer session class). Harsh grading and wouldn't give me an A even though I was 0.14% off. This should be an easy class, she thinks she is a professor at Harvard..give me a break
Took this class in the Fall. Easy easy class. She is very nice and gives us access to the powerpoints used in class so it's not a big deal if you miss a day. Get to use a note card (front and back) for test. Pretty easy class with good information.
Do not take this online. She takes forever to grade and doesn't respond to emails. You take the class by yourself..why have a teacher? Rediculous.
Late feedback makes it impossible to improve your work since she locks the discussions you can't go back later to make adjustments from the feedback given. Just cross your fingers she likes you. Wouldn't recommend her online class.
normally wouldn't rite anything, but read the other comments.... I took the summer class with the late feed back and she gave us all points to make up for late returned work. The class was easy to follow, the lectures are the weekly contact plus she checked in each week - how is that by yourself - it's onlince!!! I enjoyed it
I loved this class!!! She made the material easy to understand and gave examples for everything. Her testing was cool even though it was hard. She has high expectations but will help you if you are willing to put in the effort. Ran study sessions and seemed like she actually cared about us... :)
She makes her exspectations clear, however, she likes to do assignments without any explanation on how to do them. If the whole class does something wrong she is very rude. She is very hard on her students. She expects quality work and if your work is high quality than she assumes you are not giving the class your best.
really good........ xcellant examples from personal life......
grades very hard
She is clear on what she expects. You better hope she likes you or you definately start getting the cold shoulder to your questions. She has great stories to her life to relate to the class and activities to enhance learning.
Great class!!!! She has HIGH expectations but will help you if you put in the effort. Has got a story for everything - and truly has a passion for her job.
She keeps the class interesting and makes you want to learn. She just asks you put a bit of effort. Great teacher!
This class is pretty easy. Just make sure you use an index card on the tests. Always do your reading assessments! Always be present in class! If you're not present in class when an assessment is assigned, you will receive an F for the assignment. Make use of your extra credit for the Career Connections & Taking Sides paper. Overall, good class.
alrite she is hard but i still loved the class. she got a story for everything and helps u understand info with it. i actually conisitantly went to class cause of it. if u ready to work she will work with u to do well :P
Professor Beyer is a hard grader. I have her for my A lab & I don't like her much because she doesn't allow me to do any make up work for missing only 2 days. Her syllabus is useless doesn't tell me much on what I have to do in-class assignments. She's strict but isn't that specific in things she wants her other students to follow.
Angela Beyer, is a great teacher. I am currently taking her hybrid class (which is online but meets once a week). She doesn't expect you to just learn a bunch of vocab but being able to comprehend them and point them out watching any random child(test questions are examples). Fun lectures, and very approachable. No BS with this woman do your work!
I won't ever take ANY course with Professor Beyer, I keep my word. She expects WAY TOO MUCH but isn't willing to help. I put alot of effort for her A lab by turning hard work in her office ahead than any other students but didn't seem to see that at all. I dislike her. Ew!
This professor was fun! If you wanted to use the textbook you could use it to follow her slideshow lectures which were always SUPER easy to follow. Everything in the course was laid out pretty well, and the only thing really required of you is one short paper about books you read as a child. Occasional pop quizzes, but those were usually easy.
Mrs. Beyer keeps the class interesting. It was boring at times, but 95% of the time it wasn't. She gives a lot of points! I turned in an assessment for homework, got a 25/25, but I ended up getting a zero because I wasn't in class the day it was assigned. I still ended up getting an A in the class and didn't have to take the final. I recommend her.
I highly recommend this teacher! If you are interested in learning about Child Development, she makes it easy and interesting and you really do learn a lot!
Meh. I have had better. This is not a very helpful commentary but most of the colleagues in her department are excellent teachers, and she simply does not compare.
Great class! She pushes you hard but you know exactly what she expects. Class was fun meaning alot of interaction with classmates. She was really helpful too... I am going to try to take more of her classes. I highly recommend :P
Unorganized and doesn't seem like she knows what she is doing or teaching.
I honestly have a strong dislike for her. She doesn't lecture and makes us "learn from others," probably because she doesn't know what she's doing herself. She needs to act more professional.
Man we must have not been in the same class... I LOVED my class with her. She made us work but it was fun and she was so helpful. I learned so much - i rec her to everyone (but u got to come ready to work)!
I would not recommend this teacher. She does not include lectures in her classroom. Her expectations are way too high. She talks the entire class and disscusses topics that are irrelevant to the course.
It was hard. But I learned so much - she has a story for everything which makes the stuff super easy to remember. Yes she has high expectations but she will to whatever she can to help if you are willing to try too. I am trying to take more of her classes...
She was a great teacher. The class was easy because she tells what to study for her test instead of just saying read this chapter. Loved the class.
She was very rude to me. Lack of communication.
all come on guys, you don't have to put lies on her now! I had 3 classes with her. Professor Beyer is a Excellent, helpful, patience, sweet, kind hard working passionate teacher! She will bend over backwards to help her students anyway she can. she gave me a point on a exam because I did not leave it blank! what teacher does that!
5/18/2013. it is not Professor Beyer fault that you guys didn't want to come to class and actually put effort it to it. you guys are childless. Professor Beyer is passionate about what she does. If you cannot make it in her class, then please don't work with kids. please stay away from the kids. I beg you.
I liked going to class because he lecutures were really interesting! you have to come to class to understand and know whats going on. She is awesome! i loved how she thought us.I dont understand why thier are negative. they probably did not show up to class thats why! Class was once a week. She is very nice! take her class!
the class is very theuro and teacher is awesome. Angela is very passonate about her job and the class feels like a real class - i actually feel like something was learned rather than just taught to meet a curricullum... highly recommend her!
Angelas attitude towards us and her expectations are explained very well. There is a method to her madness and everything done in class made me ready for my job - which I got cause of what she taught me. If you are lazy and have an excuse for everything she is not for you... you want a awesome class take hers!
Ms Beyers enthusiasm and teaching style is the best part of the class. Her stories make it so easy to remember stuff. This isn't my major but the best general ed class. Everything is so clear. Rec her big time
Took this class online. There are a lot of trick questions on her tests because the answers could not be found in the text book or lecture notes. Lack of communication with class, no reminders, does not respond to messages and grades assignments slowly.
Angela Beyer is one of the best teachers I have ever had. No, she is not easy. But, if you give a little you will receive a lot. She is willing to do anything to help you succeeded. Even when you are not in her class anymore, she is there for you. Always.
Mrs. Beyer is simply amazing and has a passion for CDEV. =) She is a great teacher, I can't wait to take her again. It's not easy work, but she makes it all so helpful.
i have taken 4 of her classes & I think she is an awesome teacher, if you failed her lab im sure its because of attendance. I worked hard & I went to her for help in her office she expects alot we are dealing with precious cargo ppl so work for your grade & stop blaming her cause you didnt get that easy A.... oh and I got As, i wrked for them!!
Great teacher!!! she looks young but knows her stuff really well. I highly recommend her!Make sure you do all your connect activities and study before tests.
Got a C in this class. 79.76%!!! Would not let me do anything to get a B. didn't respond to ANY emails I sent throughout the semester. Class is interesting but tests are difficult. Her stories are interesting but a lot of the time what is talked about in class doesn't cover the material on the test.
This teacher is the BOMB! Hands down my favorite so far. Make class enjoyable by bring in her own children/family stories to use as examples. Also uses discussions to get us to better understand the concepts. Awesome - can't wait to take more with her
I loved this teacher. I took her hybrid class & it was overall easy class. Go to class, listen to lecture (which she makes interesting), take a test at home. Only homework is an observation & the study guides. Read the book and do the study guides and there should be no excuse to not pass this class. Highly recommended.
She is by far the best teacher I've ever had. I love her teaching methods and styles. She is willing to help any student with everything and is very straight forwad. She tells great stories in lectures which makes it measier to undersant and more fun!
She is honestly one of the best teacher/professor I have had in my 3 years at Delta. I've learned a lot through her stoies - they make the class material so easy to understand relate personally.
Class discussion is due once every two weeks. I did not find the book helpful for studying. Her class notes were the weekly or so read. What you lack in busy work, the tests make up for, very difficult.
Professor Beyer was amazing. She has really help me understand why I have chosen a major in Child Development and Education
BEST TEACHER! She is awesome I love her! I still email her for help out in the field. She will put you to work but you will learn the "method to her madness" ;) She gives real life scenarios and situations with her own kids. She makes sure everyone understands the material! She instills her passion in everyone! SHE IS AMAZING!
I took this course online during the Summer. She is crystal clear from the beginning with what to expect. 1 Quiz un-timed at the beginning of the course on Chapter 2, then 5 Exams, 1 due each week on about 3-4 chapters each. They are not easy, but that's it, just those 6 assignments make up your grade. Yes, you'll need the book, and must read it!
Mrs. beyer is the best child development teacher I ever had. She is inspirational and an amazing person. mrs. beyer has easy grading and unless you hate learning about children you will pass the class. If you take the class you'll see she is clearly caring, and hilarious. HAVE FUN!
The class I took for Professor Beyer was both an in-class attendance and online, so basically, a hybrid class. She vocalizes that in the beginning of the semester. She has the class take exams (timed) and Connect Activities (homework) online. She is fairly easy if you READ and do the assignments that she requests. Funny & cares about her students!
She's super cool and laid back. Make sure you read because the textbook covers whatever is on the tests.
Prof. Beyer is an AMAZING professor. She's hilarious and easy to listen to. Her projects are fun and her instructions are very clear- w up,do the work, and you will pass.
Professor Beyer was an awesome professor. You show up and you get points (she gave a daily assignment each class that was worth 10 points). I had her hybrid class so all homework and tests (including final) were taken online, so you can use notes, textbook, ect.
Took this class over the summer. You only had to take about 5 exams and there were no other assignments. This was the most effortless class I've taken so far. Never touched the book either.
Took this class over the summer. It was pretty easy but I finally got the hang of it after the last two tests and I had a 79% and she wouldn't round it to a B. She doesn't really give you credit if you go through modules, but I think you should because those are where the answers to the test are.
LISTEN-she gives great examples, tells hilarious stories; lectures are more like she's talking WITH you, not AT you. Very inspirational, has a genuine passion for children & even had me considering a CDEV major. Assignments are interesting/enlightening. If you know how to use the resources she provides (esp USING THE MODULES) you will do just fine.
I loved Professor Beyer's class. I recommend a hybrid class. You go in once a week for "lecture", but it's more like a class discussion, and tests are online and easy. She's hilarious! You'll hear a lot of funny personal stories she tells. I guarantee you'll laugh at least once each class.
So far this was the worst class I have taken. there is no forewarning of the website that she uses&it was around $70. but if you buy the book new it comes with the website free, but I was not aware of that&bought a used book for $120&the site, &didn't even need the book. Everything is through the site&tests don't even match the material outlined.
I'm taking her summer class right now. I've got to say that this is the EASIEST class that I've ever taken besides linguistics in Delta. Connect units are 45 points and exams are 100 each. You have 5 of each. She super clear and it was the right choice to make for a summer class. We only have a week left in the semester and I have a 99.7%.
I took the hybrid class with Prof. Beyer. I highly recommend it. This class is almost impossible to fail. There's an open book/note/everything quiz every week, so you need to not miss class. All tests are online, all material and work is also. There are a few turn in assignments but they're easy to do. Lectures are also funny and enjoyable.
Took online course this summer for the first time. Wasn't easy but did all assignments that were required. Do all readings and take notes. Do Connects on time for points. It will help toward grade. Tests are not that easy but make sure you understand keywords and meanings.
She's really cool and amazing! She doesn't believes in standard testing because you don't really learn from it. so if she does have a test it super easy questions that like what was your biggest take away from class? But over all you learn a lot and work in groups a lot.
A great online class full of information. You will need the access code for the class. The class is very structured, just make sure you do not miss an assignment or else your grade will suffer.
I took the hybrid class. It's an easy class. We had lecture once a week, which included a open book/note/phone quiz, so you need to go. The tests are online. There were only a few homework assignments that are easy. She's funny and talks a lot about herself and her family.
Very easy class, the modules are informative. There is no reason anyone should not pass this class. All the test information is in the modules. If you're looking for depth this is not the class for you. It's 100% self taught, the instructor lays out the requirements and lets you go at it. All quizes, exams, and final are multiple choice.
I took the hybrid class. She makes it clear you need to go to every class (if you can't make it to one class she'll let you attend a class she has later/earlier in the week) Open book/note/phone quizzes. NO REASON YOU SHOULDN'T GET AT LEAST A B. Weekly homework is super easy. ALL INFO ON TEST IS IN MODULES. READ THEM. She's really funny too.
I loved her class! Engaging lectures and hilarious stories made the content come to life. The textbook is relied upon heavily. She has high expectations that are challenging, but achievable.
Not only does she make the information easy to understand, but she makes it fun. She's hilarious! Tests and homework are online, at home, so you're able to use any resource. Only a few extra assignments that require you to do research. If you need help, she will find a way to give it. You can count on her to email you back. She's AWESOME.
I love her! She is amazing and her lectures are really fun to go to. Her grading criteria is clear and easy. Study and work for the grade that you want. This has been the easiest class I have ever taken. Read modules online because her tests can tricky but each one gets easier.
super funny and interesting professor
She is not giving enough credit for the students who are trying. I have a lot of workload this semester and finish all the assignments, but still got a D, with the hopes of just getting a c. Attending all classes and on time because it was mandatory. Only God knows where I stand.
Eye opening class. I have been in the field for years and this was the best class I took ar delta. She really pushes us to work hard and expect better for ourselves. You can't just skate through, you have to show growth and understanding. This is the funeral class before higher job and because of her and this class I am so ready!
There are four exams plus the final. You have around 16 connect assignments, 4 class activities , an observation, and 10 in-class check ups. The first exam is the hardest exam. Her lectures are amazing and use actual examples from her life and experiences. You will actually learn something from her lectures. I highly recommend taking her class.
I would take this professor again, she does push her students hard but does to make sure that we do good in this field.
She is the BEST. I looked forward to attending her class. Her lectures are hilarious. Show up, do the work and you will pass. She is caring and understanding. She also passes out candy (of your choice) to the highest scored test.
She is super cool and uses a lot of helpful examples in her lectures. Very understanding and ALWAYS emails back. Sets you up to succeed. Pay attention while doing your canvas assignments because the tests are not definition based. Extra points for her beautiful kid!!
This teacher wants you to learn and help you understand she actually like teaching and cares for students definitely would take her again.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Her tests are hard because they're example-based, not just matching or defining, so be prepared for that. As long as you pay attention to her funny & easy to understand lectures, memorize the theories from the first chapter & apply examples to all the concepts you'll be perfectly fine.
I've been a straight A student in college but this will be the first time I receive a B. Professor Beyer's online class for Child Development is hard. Be sure to study a lot for tests. Do your discussions post early on so you don't get points taken off. No extra credit. Take this online class with someone else if you can.
Her lectures are pretty informative and she tries to make each chapter relatable to make the information easier to remember. Her exams are on canvas but there is an in person quiz every class meeting.
Do not take this class. She has two faces. she doesn't stick to her grading criteria.
Love her class, shes super funny! Great stories to remember things we learn. Do definitely do ALL assignments.
Best. teacher. ever. Lectures are never boring. The text book can be used for all assignments, including tests. She has a pallet for anonymous questions, that is answered very quickly. Communication is great. (hybrid class) There are online connect assignments and in class checkups due weekly.
She isnt fair on grading at all , nor does she care bout little simple computer errors or your own honest ones !
She was awesome. It was a hybrid class but she made class fun and entertaining! Would definitely take her class again.
Very great professor ! Shes very clear when giving her lectures, gives study guides, often writes our tasks on the board or emails as a reminder, she cares about her students academic progress. Dont miss class though! The information given in class essential for success
Very helpful and understanding. Easy work if you do the reading. Tough grader though. If you do the work and keep up with her timelines you will pass.
One of the best professors ever. She is so funny, makes her lectures interesting, and tells a lot of personal stories. Just stay on top of the work, but it's fairly easy. Use notes for the exams!
I don't know what this professor is like in person but awful when it comes to "teaching" online. She NEVER lectures, how is that teaching? Recorded ones would be better than none at all. She grades unfairly and states that you have a week to do your assignments (M-Sun) but yet if you don't turn in your work by Wednesday you get points taken.
I honestly felt like I was not even learning anything. She does not give any feedback or extra credit. I do not recommend if you actually want to learn.
Don't take this professor! You are graded hard on the discussions and discussions only literally and you only have one midterm exam and the final exam, but she doesn't teach you anything so you don't know what to study for.
Gives absolutely zero feedback , so if you're ohkay with just passing and not actually learning go for it.
Angela Beyer's online child discipline class, as well as the course text, was very informative. I enjoyed learning about positive discipline and I think I will find it to be very useful with my future career. There were weekly discussions which were worth quite a lot, but they were very straight forward and based upon course material.
Beyer was one of the best profs I've ever had. She is always understanding and really cares about her students. From the first day of the course she listens to concerns and helps out in any way possible. Lots of reading for textbook, but not too big of a workload.
If you are a handicapped student and don't have access to the elevator because it's broken, don't even bother completing her class. It would be best to drop out. She cares more about attendance than her students well being/needs. Even if you do all your work, if heaven forbid you're sick/disabled and you can't show up a couple of days, you fail
The exam did not match the review nor the work for each chapter that you had to do. It says they are example based which they are not.
This semester is my 3rd time taking Professor Beyer. I took both her online & in person courses & I have nothing negative to say about her. Beyer is genuinely knowledgeable & passionate about this field, hence why she is the lead of her faculty. Beyer cares to check in on her students on a weekly basis by sending out thoughtful reminders!
did not like this class one bit, prof said quizzes and tests were example based when that was not true and once you completed the homework you couldnt look back at what you did. Dont recommend!!
She never really teaches the class. Online, she provides modules that highlight important chapter topics, but she's very keen on letting you know that it's all on you to teach yourself. The first week was extremely overwhelming and unfair. She responds quickly to emails, but they aren't super thought out. Sometimes very unhelpful.
Not the worst online class. To get a good grade, MUST read lectures/modules AND textbook. Kind of a tough grader on discussions. Dislike her lectures/modules and exam reviews. Lectures/modules: SUPER long and didn't provide ALL of IMPORTANT infos that a normal lecture would have. Exam reviews had almost nothing to do with the tests.
I took Professor Beyer last semester, but got an unfavorable first impression. However, she's a pretty good professor. The class was very simple and straightforward. There were few assignments and a couple projects that were easy once you get into it. I just wish there was a more personal connection. I'm sure there is more of a connection in person
Honestly she's fine; her CONNECT assignments are simple (long but they're alright) and you get credit as long as you do them. My main issue is the fact that her exams kinda suck, especially the match portions of them (20 pts). Some of the match questions are like 2 words and they're so vague and you can't really find one answer that fits it best.
I took her for spring 2022 and I passed with a B. I felt as though she was easy and I could have done better. I would take her again, simple assignments and simple tests and discussions.
Angela Beyer was a mediocre teacher. The exams impacted your grade too heavily and the majority of the work is just time-consuming. Each piece of work on McGraw was roughly 80 concepts per extra credit opportunity and actual workload. The extra credit and written assignments were not very rewarding for your grade too.
Exams were very difficult even if you read the book and her lecture materials. You weren't aloud to see what you got wrong on the exams. Not knowing what I got wrong didn't really help me learn. There's 5 exams which is basically what makes your grade so if you don't do good on the exams you won't pass. Her discussions were also graded tough.
Lots and lots of work. You really have to stay on top of stuff, as I did not, hence why I failed. If you do the work, all the exams are easy. But if you miss one assignment, you might as well fail. She's a good professor, responds back to emails fasts, sets out reminders for assignments.
We had to spend almost $80 for an access code. Her assignments were so long for no reason I'm talking 2 plus hours. She gave passive aggresive responses when I just wanted help. Her class was structured really weird and I didn't really learn much.
Good professor, but lots of homework. She is caring and always available for help.
Professor B was great. But, her assignments required one to be in front of their computer for about 3 hours. Her tests didn't really relate to the concepts in the textbooks. Her discussions were easy to earn points just make sure you do follow instructions as she will dock points if you don't follow them. Her article discussions are easy points.
Crappy prof. She is definitely not a professor that is there to help you. You can follow all grading rubric instructions perfectly and she still will not give you full points. Trying to ask for suggestions on how to get a better grade? either no response or told to "follow the rubric" She does not try to help you out and is not there to benefit you
This class is way too time-consuming. It's a waste of time and she's a thought grader. Exams are 2 hours long and connect assignments are another 2 hours. If I had known this before enrolling in this class I would never take it if my life depended on it.
She is a wonderful professor in the lecture department. She clearly knows what she is talking about and is super informative in an understanding manner. She even is aware of others' learning styles and adjusts her lectures accordingly. The work and the exams were at times frustrating, and she is unhelpful with your problems regarding work.
Prof B is charismatic. Her purpose is to make ppl aware of their impact on Child Dev. However, her exams are ex-based - none of which are provided in the lecture or text. Paid $70 for book code - non-refundable but necessary for the HW. HW is online & each take 2-3hrs. It's Connect-Ed so you get 100% as long as you finish. Busy person? Take online!
Not sure how one becomes a professor, but if all it takes is being able to assign 2hr long assignments made by OTHER people, copying + pasting info from the textbook n trying to pass it as "written lectures" then anybody could do it. There is no teaching involved. Be prepared to essentially pay for a class/textbook and teach yourself. Good luck.
Professor Beyer is AMAZING! If you're able to take her in person section do it! She truly cares about her students and will give second chances if you need it! She uses the textbook's modules for HW and they aren't graded on accuracy so just get it done! She's hilarious and tries to make this class interesting & easy for everyone
Get ready to work non stop this is literally one of the most annoying classes. Book is expensive and required, and goes through McGraw Hill expect to spend at least 4-5 hours on that platform alone just for homework. Does not give extensions and isn't very understanding at all. Overall just ridiculous and I wouldn't recommend her at all.
From my experience, the professor is not very responsive when you ask for help. Maybe she is better in person, but I did not find her online class very helpful. You essentially have to pay for the textbook AND teach yourself. Make sure to take LOTS of notes and prepare to deal with McGraw Hill's annoying homework system.
The most cold-blooded and unhelpful person I've met which is ironic considering empathy and kindness is the number one priority of child development. Beyer will make you walk on eggshells for asking to clarify anything, as if she's God's gift to the world and is infallible. Her work is excruciatingly basic but she finds a way to make it painful.
Professor Beyer is amazing at what she does! I took her course without expecting much and had a great time. Her lectures are always enjoyable to listen to and she provides funny stories about her own kids to engage her students. Although there are McGraw-Hill adaptives that are due every week, they make up for the class only being on Tuesdays.
no idea why most of the recent reviews on beyer are so negative because she was GENUINELY such an engaging professor. not only did her personal + funny experiences that she added to the lectures keep me awake, she also cares for her students! lots of ec opportunities + 5 papers due for the entire sem (article summary reviews) + mcgrawhills
Expect a lot of work in this class, but Unstuckstudy can help streamline your study prep. The professor is knowledgeable, but assignments and exams can be time-consuming. Overall, a challenging yet rewarding course.
I took her class back in 2020, but I thought her class was pretty interesting. It is a requirement to get the textbook because a lot of her homework is based off them, but you do learn quite a bit which was really nice. I actually liked her class because it was simple, but I am a little salty she gave me a B when I had an A the whole semester.
I thought her class was fine. Nothing too crazy, but definitely some reading.
Honestly one of the worst professors at delta. She is a tough grader. If she doesn't like you or if you don't meet her expectations she will not pass you.
If you follow the suggested path through her course you'll do very well. The lectures build off the reading & the modules. Tests are open book/notes-pay attention to the assignments & make notes. She helped me with resources at the school too. Honestly, without her support and positive energy, I would have dropped out of school and regretted it.
By far the best professor I've had in college. The homework was sitting in front of a computer for a long period of time, but it was simple. Best part of taking this class are her lectures (I have a friend who took it online & didn't enjoy it). She's a funny person and as long as you pay attention you won't have any trouble.
I loved her, she is great. This is my second semester having her as a teacher and I will take another class with her! She is a good teacher.
She is a great professor. I highly recommend taking her course.
Ms. Angela was my favorite professor, and I wouldn't mind taking her class again. I like that she related her personal life to the textbook so that her students can have a better understanding of the lecture.
She doesn't give clear guidance on assignments, and her tests are tricky—what seems like a simple 10-point quiz often has multiple sub-questions or tricky true/false items. I strongly recommend avoiding her, especially if you're working, as her class adds unnecessary stress.
