she was an envolved teacher that seems to really take the issues disscussed serious her test are kind of hard but there are only three and no homework but she gives you a study guide that covers about everything that will be on the test

I have this professor for an online class and she is AWESOME. She really has this online thing down and knows how to give an effective class via the internet.

Angela is AWESOME!!! I learned so much in her class! She's very fair in her grading and offers LOTS of extra credit.

Angela is the bomb! Class lectures are real, fresh, current and from the heart. This lady has a passion for teaching and it shows! Tough exams, but she gives out a great study guide at least 2 wks before hand.

Very down to earth and passionate teacher. I was really surprised how interesting the class was. Be warned that she has a pretty stance, but she is completely open-minded and won't try to influence yours. Keep up on the lectures and the class should be a breeze.

Prof. Block is great. She is helpful and approachable and I learned a great deal from her class. She was clear in what was expected from us and fair in her grading. I enjoyed her class and have recommended it to my friends.

Angela is one of the most enthusiastic professors at SCC. She is very open to opinion and welcomes a good argument. So long as you read the text her tests aren't too difficult and I've found her writing assignments to be more fun than trying or anything like that. Angela Block, two thumbs up!!!!!

Angela Block is my favorite teacher in all my SCC career.Her class is fun and interesting and easy if you can do the reading and go to class. Great class/teacher to fulfill GE req. & your Race/ethnicity req. I took her online and had no problems. Her exams are fairly easy as long as you do your readings and read her notes. The paper was a piece of cake. I highly recommend this class/teacher. Very interesting. She is also passionate about this subject which makes it better.

I took TV course last fall, Great Professor. If you read and watch the video it almost Guaranteed you a "B+++ or better". Just read/taped the video for later use.

She is an excelent teaher. At first I wasn't sure what I wanted to major in, but now that I ahve her class and I see what sociology is all about I want to major in sociology

I took the online class, which means you must be motivated to do the work on your own. The class was very interesting and useful for life experiences. My only regret was not taking this class face-to-face - Because Angela is engaging, a great speaker, helpful, nice, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. Need SOC321? Take Angela's class. she is a good teacher. shes very organize and funny. Her class doesnt have too much of hw. the good thing is you dont have final or quizes. just have 3 tests. The hw isnt too bad cuz she allows 2 weeks to do it and it online. She is nice and helpful. should take her for SOC 300.

She is a very good teacher. Her lectures are very interesting and she uses clear examples to support her points. As long as you do the reading and attend class you will definitely enjoy the hour spent and will have no problem passing her class:)

No if's, and's or but's. Take a class from Angela Block, even if you don't know anything about Sociology or are not sure you're interested in it. By the end of her class, you will be. The tests are fairly easy, but the study guides were a little unclear. She is really nice and encourages people to express their experiences and opinion on race.

She is a awesome teacher who knows alot about her subject. Test are a little rough, but internet projects and class work are easy. You have 2 do the work though. She will give u a study guide 2 weeks in advance but it is important to read from the book. You will deffintely pass this class if u show up and try. She knows if your trying or not.

She is so funny and makes this class really interesting, i would recommend her to anyone and everyone. The only catch is that her tests are pretty difficult even with a one page note card. But its worth it, you learn a lot!

Great teacher. Allows students to participate in class which is always nice. For test's you are able to use 1 page cheat sheet and she provides the study guide. REMEMBER: conflict and functional perspectives. ON EVERY TEST

She doesn't mind explaining things to students over again during class time or outside of class. If she can't be found in office hours, she would not mind staying a little while after class to answer questions. In this class it's always good to understand conflict and functional theory in order to explain how edu, fam, groups exist in society. =)

She's very helpful and gives over-head projector notes alot which is useful. Most of the time she says when a certain thing is on the test. I'd encourage to be social in this class because there's alot of group discussions. Interesting. CONFLICT & FUNCTIONAL, understand it and you'll be good. Patient and hecka funny. Thumbs up for Block!

She was a good teacher, nice, understanding, helpful. The online classes arent my favorites but this one was interesting. You have to work for your grade but along the way it can be fun. Tests are all Essay form, weekly discussion boards, volunteer project/paper, can be a lot of work and easy to forget, but it's a fun class with a good teacher.

She's one of those professors who knows her field and cares about her students. Her energy and style immediately communicate her connection with world and with herself. I've enrolled in three of her courses and she consistently inspires me to do my very best.

Wow, what a great professor! Had her twice and she was even better the second time. Angela is a woman who really knows her material and will teach it to you with so much passion that you can't help but get excited about it too! Take her at least once while at SCC -- it's worth it! Plus, her fashion sense is something you have to see to believe! =P

She knows her material, she is willing to help you because she cares about her students and wants them to have the same excitment and understand about sociology as she has. She is awesome! Full of energy and hilarious! I had no interest in sociolgy whatsoever until I took this class as a requirement and it really opened my eyes to the topic. I would really reccommend taking one of her classes.

Great Professor! Love her as a person too. She now teaches at Sac City. I took sociology because its part of my pre-re or else I wouldn't of take the class; however, she made the class fun and interesting. She always have funny stories to tell the class. Highly recommended.

Proffesor Agela is one of the best in scc. IF you want learn take her class. She is very profesional ,smart, and always on time.

Online course was not easy obviously, but difficult to the point of tediousness. The amount of reading added up to even more than regular class time per week. The saving grace is the subject matter and the teacher's dedication the the topic and her students. Read EVERYTHING or the midterms will screw you over. Seriously. You do learn a lot.

The funniest professor ever! Once, a young guy's cell phone went off and she started dancing to the ringtone! She also lets you play monopoly in class for 15 extra credit points! Tests are very easy, and part is take home. Just study the guides well, and you'll get an EASY A!

This class is not super easy, but if you read the chapters and put thought into your posts an A is definately achievable. Ms. Block is an excellent professor who really cares.

Wish I could take the class again! Really fun! Socio-olopy is really fun! The people next to me robbed the bank, and trust me, VOLUNTEER TO BE THE BANKER! You can totally win the game because the banker is allowed to charge double/triple. She's really funny too. Although, I was right on the verge of an A, and she only gave me a B... :-(

Online course (with on-ground exams). Don't think this is an easy class because it's online. Lots of interesting material, but set aside A LOT of time to organize and keep up with the massive amount of weekly readings, otherwise you won't have a clue on the exam questions. Fair amount of extra credit opportunities.

She's a cool teacher. Very helpful in explaining materials you didn't understand. The essay part of the exam was kind of annoying but it wasn't difficult. There is alot of material to read and shows to watch but overal she's cool.

My fiance and I both took the Diversity Sociology class last semester. Two things really stood out: the guy on the videos is SO ANNOYING... I seriously want to punch him!!! Secondly, Angela Block is a wonderful instructor and person! She worked with our crazy sched. when our son was born and is fun and informative to boot! She's an A+ in my book!!!

Angela is one of the most understanding and compassionate professors I have ever taken. She cares about her students and wants them to succeed. I took Women and Social Action online. A LOT of reading material, but mostly interesting aside from a few. Some writing assignments, lots of discussions boards, and a service learning assignment.

Angela is a great professor! You cover alot of material in into to sociology, but she is very helpful in making sure everything is explained clear. Super approachable and she always has in class activities or stories relating to material that keeps you interested. GREAT CLASS!

angela is an overall amzing person she incorporates humor and learning together as well as fun group activities there is no way you should fail this class as long as you come to class and do the reivew sheets and the book is totally not even necassary bc u rarely use it

Fabulous online class on Marriages and Families. Lots of great material to read. Fair assignments, only 3 papers, 3 exams, and weekly quizes and discussion boards. She appreciates her students and her enthusiasm resonates with her pupils. I would take classes from her again.

I took Angela's SOC 321 last semester. There was a lot of reading but it is manageable. I would suggest renting the videos from the bookstore incase you miss it on TV. This class was easy for me and I got an A. You can too if you put forth the effort. Be sure to use the study guide and you will get a good grade.

she is funny and easy. all you do is go to class and listen to her talk, you can choose to take notes or not. her tests are all about what the lectures are on but you get a study guide a week before with the same exact questions. take her and you will pass

She uses the teachers book questions for the quizzes and tests and they are usually really hard. Her quizzes are only 5 minutes long which is not long enough to properly finish it. This instructor knows her stuff, and she is so helpful! She has filled my brain up to the brim with sociology haha! without me even trying nonetheless. She's funny and her class is always entertaining, never boring. She's an engaging instructor for sure and it's great for a SOC class.

She is HILARIOUS! I had ZERO interest in sociology starting this class. When class started she made it interesting and fun. You learn so much in her class. Keep up on the reading and do the study guide she gives prior to the text. Everything on the study guide is covered on the tests.No final as well! Highly recommended!

I took SOC300 before and haaated it so much, ended up dropping it. Block makes it so much more interesting and actually gets people involved. Her teaching is a little disorganized but her study guides are great. Good class!

I took the televised course. You get extra credit for attending the review. She gives you a study guide for the tests and allows you to have 1 page of notes to use for the test. She's great in leacture. It's fun and interesting.She will take late work at half credit. Stay on top of the hw and you shouldn't have a problem.

I took the online version of this course. Warning - there is a LOT of reading to be done, and if you don't do it, you'll most definitely fail the exams (which derive all of their questions from randomly-selected readings/lec. notes). Two short essays were also required. Fun class and generous grader, but do NOT underestimate the workload.

I took two of her online classes at the same time during the Fall '12 semester, and she is an EXCELLENT professor. While the workload is heavy and requires dedication to complete, her exams are straightforward and she is an excellent resource if you utilize her office hours. Definitely recommending her for Sociology courses.

Very straightforward class. Weekly reading assignments and online quizzes. There is no new information that will be on the exams as long as you pay attention in class and don't fall behind. Other than that, she is quite funny.

Professor Block is fabulous! Her intro to sociology class was fun and I learned a lot. She is really funny, understanding and laid-back. The weekly quizzes were straightforward and pretty easy if you took notes during lecture and at least skimmed the chapters. I highly recommend this teacher!

She's a great teacher. She really knows what she's talking about. The only bad thing that I have to say is that attendance is mandatory. And her lectures aren't TOO boring but they're definitely not super fun either. Overall, great professor especially if you're just taking this course for a GE.

Nice professor. Made a lot of technical errors this semester. Grades are fair. Lots of reading and quizzes. Class is not hard, just a lot of work. You NEED the book and you NEED to participate in the class.

Professor Block is a generous grader as long as you complete the discussion board andor assignment and put some effort into it. There are 15 weekly quizzes, 3 writing assignments (2-3 pages each), 2 midterms, 1 final, and weekly discussion boards. Her exams were pretty tough and will be the difference between getting an A or B grade.

Angela always answered any questions I had and went above and beyond to help me. You have to know the essay questions on the test to get an A in class but it's possible to do as she gives you a list of questions that may be on test. She wants you to do well & will help you if you ask her. Its my fault I missed an A in class, I would take her again!

THE HARDEST CLASS I'VE EVER TAKEN! There is a lot of reading and critical thinking that's involved. LOTS and LOTS of work. Overall great teacher and very very knowledgeable. If you are looking to take an easy online class, look away. This class involved discipline and dedication.

I took her online Marriage and Fam class and I found it to be a pretty smooth ride. Every weds you have a chapter quiz with 5 questions and u get 2 tries questions are always different . You get enough time to finish your essay assignments-3 all together, 2 midterms n final. Nice teacher, responsible and willing to help.

Prof. Block is probably the best SOC professor in Sac City. As someone who came into the class initially not knowing a thing about sociology, I was pleased to find that she is really easy to understand and fair. Really funny too. All her lectures were interesting and her tests simple. She'll assign a five question and short answer quiz weekly.

Angela is Awesome! I had her this semester for SOC 300 online and her class is straight forward and interesting. You definitely learn a lot about sociology and I'm TAKING HER AGAIN FOR SOC 321! You have 3 exams, including final, weekly 5 question straight forward quiz, 2 writing assignments (not hard) and weekly discussion posts.

Great teacher. Very patient and always willing to answer questions. I learned a lot. Class consists of a couple writing assignments, weekly quizzes based off the book, and three midterms. No cumulative final. Pay attention in lecture and read the book and you'll do fine.

Amazing professor. She's easygoing and lenient with late quizzes, and understanding of student's circumstances. She has interesting and fun classes, definitely one of those professors you can be friends with. Be sure to read, and if you're having trouble in class, she has good resources to help you out.

Professor Block has such a desire for her students to truly understand the material, but ALSO not feel as if tests should be a "punishment" as she calls it. Although she is super chill and laid back, her exams require study time. However, compared to other courses, obtaining an A in her course is totally more doable.

She gives you tons of extra help on d2l if you don't understand the material. Helps keep you up to date on quizzes due, assignments due, and over all SCC activities. She's wonderful. Really makes sure you understand what she's teaching in class. Read the chapters before class to help with the lectures.

Best Sociology Professor and ive taken about three others before her. For sure cares about her students and understands if you miss something she will open back up for you to turn in for credit.

Perfectly suited professor for this class. Gets you thinking, opens your mind to other perspectives, does not force feed personal views. Funny, energetic, a highlight to my schedule. Professor Block wants you to be successful in her class and gives you all the tools to do so. You always know where you stand. Never boring!

This class was so interesting and she truly prepares you for any sociology class you take afterwards. You will have to sit down and do the chapter reading but the material is great. She is always open for questions and I felt like she really cared about making sure everyone understood concepts, vocabulary etc.

This is (quite honestly) a liberal-ideology "indoctrination" class, so go into it with a critical eye. The professor is a very kind woman though, and she really cares about her students. The tests will be a bit of a challenge if you don't read the chapters, and I recommend you take advantage of the online D2L study resources.

This class was super easy. I don't know how you don't get an A+ in her class. All the quiz answers can be found online. Every week you have an online quiz that is 2 parts: multiple choice and free response. The text aren't hard at all if you read the book. If you read the book you are going to get an A in the class for sure. EC on every test

THis was a very interesting class. It is a mandatory class now and I am glad I took her online class. There was a ton of reading and writing and participation. I got an A because I did all that was expected. The last tests were a little more difficult than the earlier ones but very enjoyable, extremely interesting and you will learn a lot.

Anglea is a great professor and I highly recommend her class. There was a discussion every few weeks and an occasional 5 question quiz. Two straightforward exams with some multiple choice and 2 long answers. Also two short essays throughout the class. This is a very easy class if you participate and apply yourself.

The best Intro professor ever! She's very understanding, as long if you communicate with her. She Knows how to keep cool even when she's frustrated and hilarious. I love how she breaks up 3 chapters for exams instead of mid term 5 chapter then finals 4 chapters. She's too nice and lenient to not try 100 percent. Socioopoly taught me. LOVE HER!!

Took Race and Ethnicity online this SPRING 17. The material she assigned was always relevant and interesting. She tries to grade everything as quickly as possible which is appreciated. Discussion posts are a must since they count as participation. You actually need to read since you won't find the majority of answers on Quizlet. Gives good feedback

Professor Block is a true gem of Sac City. She's incredibly knowledgeable of her field and it is clear in her lectures. She utilizes PowerPoint heavily and has a wonderful sense of humor. You will NOT be bored with her. She delves into the spectrum of Sociology and elaborates in depth enough to where you will have a firm understanding. (:

Block is one amazing professor. She's funny, unique, and knows her stuff. Sociopoly taught me a lot about the different social classes and she makes sure her lectures are bomb. I'm so glad I took her intro class because Shane Logan is an absolute mess compared to her.

Block's Soc 321 online class was the easiest class I have ever taken. She assigns tons of reading but if you use ctrl f (get the Ebook!) when taking (3)tests/ (weekly)quizzes, then you will not need to read anything. If you tell her what she wants to hear in your (2) essays and (5 + 1 ec) discussions, then you will easily pass with at least a B++.

Great prof!! Makes class very enjoyable!! She is pretty straight forward with what is on the exams and gives a lot of in class extra credit. Also, 5 points extra credit on every exam. She is hilarious! I got a B bc I kept forgetting to take the online quizzes. I only took like 4 out of like 15 quizzes. Easy A.

She is really nice, her class is funny, and her homework assignments are really easy. Every week she has quizzes in canvas that will not take you more than 5 minutes. 3 papers during the semester that definitely are not challenging and the test are easy if you attended and put attention in the class. Otherwise you will need to read the book.

Professor Block is the best Sociology professor at Sac city. Her lectures are easy to follow and offers an extra credit reading opportunity for one of the books she has. Test are not hard if you study. I recommend anyone to take her class you won'y regret it.

Warning: 8-weeks of anything is very intense and challenging but there is a chance for extra credit, advise against taking with a full load. BUT, do take this class with Prof. Block, she knows her stuff, very approachable and down to earth. Material, reading, and discussion topics all mandatory but phenomenal picks! *class changed my life.

Professor block was amazing! Definitely one of my favorite professors Ive had. Lots of classwork and online work, but it was all fun. If I had the opportunity to take a class with professor block again, I would. Study guides for exams are on point. Well prepared everyday. Never cancelled class. Easiest online class I have taken! Also, extremely informational!! You will definitely get something out of this class, even if you do the bare minimum! Guaranteed pass, if you don't, that's your fault!

Assignments are very clear. Hard to fail this course.

She's exceptional, very responsive to e-mails, only one extra credit at the end of the semester (20 pts), discussion posts and quiz every week although there will be days where she'll give you a break for one week, quizzes are taken from the text book. 2 midterms and 1 final consist of 30 mcqs and 2 essay questions. Take notes when you read.

She's a great prof and very caring. It's hard to fail this class. Weekly online quizzes and short answer response. Very easy! Gives you the short answer question ahead of time. 3 midterms. Final is not cumulative which is great. Attendance is important because she does in class activities at random which she gives you points for. Fast grader!

Theres a lot of assignments in this class but if you do the readings he will be able to get a great grade.

Professor Block conducts such a great, positive atmosphere in the classroom. Simply attend class, listen to the lectures, keep up with the weekly 5 MC questions and short answers, and study minimally for the 3 exams, and you will be pass while having an awesome time. Would have received an A if I didn't begin to slack off.

I love her! Yes, you will have a lot of reading, but she does provide outlines and study guides for each quiz, midterm, and final. Each week there is a discussion board, quiz and also offers extra credit. This was my fourth class and I took the 8-week term. If I can do this class & pass I know you can :)

Took SOC 300 in Fall 2018 with Professor Block and had a great time. This class was simple and straight forward. 3 exams and one online quiz due at the end of the week. Really great professor for teaching Sociology.

it's fun class to be in especially the topics that get brought up in class from each chapter. Daily Sociology experiment for participation points. students making statements involving sociology. it's enlightening to see a whole new world after taking the class.

This teacher is amazing, I did the online class and don't get me wrong there is so much reading for an online class. She doesn't really give you a study guide for her quizzes so if you take her read the chapters CAREFULLY and you'll do fine. She is very clear on the answer questions on the midterms though. Had to work really hard, but worth it.

I'm an older student, and Professor Block was extremely helpful in getting me "up to speed" in order to excel in her class; she's very engaged with her students (not always easy to do in an online-only class), and provides great direction and feedback. I can't say enough nice things about her.

It was ALOT of reading but I am a quick reader and also listened to the audiobook. Weekly quizzes, a couple of writing assignments, and discussion boards. 2 midterms, and a final. Amnesty week!

Prof Block is excellent, knowledgeable, helpful, and provides interesting/engaging resources. Teaches you not only material but genuine life knowledge through her curriculum. Some professor either give too much work or either too little. I feel like with this professor she gives the right amount. The assignments are doable and it keeps me going but it definitely does not stress me out. I highly recommend this professor!

Professor Block's online class was GREAT. Free textbook accessible online. Her canvas was really easy to navigate and she laid out a clear and consistent routine for weekly reading, short articles/videos, discussions, and quizzes. 2 midterm exams & a Final. She's really on top of grading with good feedback. Very caring, supportive, and responsive.

Professor Block is a kind, caring professor. She is very clear on her expectations and very fair in her grading. She is accessible and gives excellent feedback. Highly recommended.

The class is easy enough and very straightforward, which I like. The only negative thing I have to say is the amount of reading she assigns each week is insane. In addition to the readings, there are hours-long videos; for some assignments, you will have to either watch or read another long video/article.

She was a really cool teacher. The assignments were the same throughout the course, discussion posts, 5-point quiz every week, free online texbook material so it was very straightforward. She responded to emails quickly and overall this class was pretty easy.

LOVE this professor! Took 2 semesters with her. Classwork is a lot but she grades fairly easy. Class consisted of discussions, quizzes, midterms, and final. The readings were interesting and so that made classwork a lot easier. Definitely recommend taking her course.
