Angela is a Chem teacher, but teaches Issues in Feminism. Disorganized, unclear on her assignments, and unreasonable. Plus she brings her personal psychological issues to class, which is inappropriate. Can't we get a better Women's Studies professor
She teaches chem lab supposedly but I've seen there only a few times and she never stays the whole time. 4 weeks after the midterm we still haven't gotten it back. Too bad for chem 111 and 112 she can't be avoided.

i think i have seen her in the classroom twice maybe... she does not explain well and her TA's are the worst TA's. they dont speak english at all and they are very unfair in grading. overall i learned nothing in this class and it was a waste of time
God, she's horrible. Unsupportable. Can't do anything about it, because she's the only one teaching these courses. She had fun taking off points from your midterm exam ...for stupid things like sig.fig. :(
Just hope you get a good TA with this lab... the class itself is fine, but you'll have to rely on the TA for help much more than her.

The work load for this class will depend mostly on the TA you get. This lab emphasizes sig figs over practical results. Get your sig figs right, put some time into answering questions in lab, understand what's going on, get an A.

why is she even teachin this class when she is never even there
boerger is never in the class...so ur teacher is the TA who probably cant even speak english and is very unfair in the grading
shez mean and her ta's dont help at all. and when u want to talk to her, she doesnt even listen. i didnt like her at all.
Her TAs can barely speak English, and they grade very harshely. I mean, who really cares about sig figs.
Same complaints as other people; Just hope you have a good TA, since they're the only ones who will help you. What sucks is you're graded on stupid crap like sig figs and minor details instead of whether you actually understand the material.
She's not really your teacher, she just likes to put her name on all those classes so she gets paid for teaching them. She doesn't come to class or grade anything, not even exams. It's not too hard I didn't think but it all depends on how your TA grades

one of the worst classes i've taken at loyola. she doesn't know how to teach or grade (you have to suggest your grade before she'll give you one, on anything) and she can be somewhat of a jerk. most of the class did not like her.
Ok, all of the reveiws about her so far are correct. She CANNOT TEACH, and makes fun of the university and how they won't tenure her (which they shouldnt.) I think Loyola should do something about her, since obviously so many reviews of her are negative
SHE IS HORRIBLE..does not know chem, hates teaching, avoid her at all costs
I disagree with these other raters; Boerger is a good prof and an easy A. Her practice tests are just like her real tests. Her test problems are straightforward. She does not try to trick her students like certain other chem profs in the department.
she was an exteremely easy teacher. I do agree that she was very unclear, but I think I learned everything I would have from another teacher. I got an A in both chem 101 and 111 and didnt do much work at all. She tells you exactly what is on the tests.
she only likes you if you seem intelligent.
i disagree with most of the posts... I think she is very clear and helpful. I would definitely recommend taking her!
I attended her summer class EVERYDAY- did the homework. I got an F IN HER LECTURE!!! I GOT AN A IN 101 AT MY PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL. I don't understand how I could have been there everyday and she failed to teach me anything-AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!!

Labs are easy. Mostly get help from TA's and that's not saying much. She's not there half the time. Easy as long as you don't mess up.
Bio lab, fairly easy. No big complaints.
I disagree. I thoroughly enjoyed her class (and I hate math, chemistry involves a lot of math). She really takes time to make sure you understand the material. She will stay after class and during her office hours for as long as you need.

this class was ok, but the best part of it all is simply the fact that she is never there....she comes in for like the first five minutes, gives a stupid general overview,,and says..."does everyone understand??" ...meanwhile,, nobody rea

Although she is not around much, her TA's are usually very helpful. The labs are really straight forward, andthe exam Q's are right from all the labs, and are allowed to use them on the test. She is fair and treats this lab like a one credit course!
Angie Boerger is a great chem teacher, especially for 101 AND the lab. The lab is for YOU to do, and this is college, after all, not high school anymore.
IMPATIENT WOMAN WHO IS BARELY PRESENT. HER TA'S ARE THE ONLY ONES THAT DO ANYTHING FOR YOU, AND OFTEN THEY DONT SPEAK ENGLISH. SHES EASY, IF YOU DONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH UNORIGINALITY OR SIG FIGS. BIG PART!!! SIG FIGS!

Not in class usually. Depend on TA's for help and grading your work. Two tests and many labs. Basically if you have a good TA, you have a good grade, but if you have a picky mean TA, then you should worry about your grade.
Depend on your TA's for help. She's never around and isn't very helpful. I thought maybe it was just me so I would ask others around me if they understood what was going on and they didn't know either. Your passing depends on your TA in which few are good
She's a terrible professor, never in class, but you're stuck with her because she's the only lab professor for general chemistry. Just be brave...be very brave.

Tough class. Boerger is really nice except she flies through the class. No one has any idea what she is talking about. Tests are hard as hell. U can only pass if u live, sleep, and eat chem.
Never in class. Very difficult to understand TA's.
i saw her in class only 2 times all semester long, all the money that loyola pays to her should be taken away and given to the TA's, she MUST BE FIRED, for she does not work
No Comments
Boerger is not a hard teacher if you have all the time in the world to study the material she teaches. Since I did not it became difficult to follow what she was talking about. Sometimes she would make errors in her lectures and confuse everyone.
i swear this lady is crazy! a goofy science dork, who is hard to follow, but labs are easy to follow...kinda. becomes a witch when it comes to your grade...good luck trying to move up a grade point. mideterms and finals are impossible...you will fail them
omg!!!!!! RUN!!!!!
How can i rate a teacher that is never even there??? the TAs teach you and most of the time you're trying to figure out their stong accents!!! midterms r kinda hard, try elsewhere
i dont understand all the bad ratings. class is easy, read your notes, handouts, etc.. Understand the basic concepts and you'll do fine on the MT and Final. I guess the TA really matters too. MINAKSHI is the best!!
Taking this class is suicide, in every sence of the word. Unless you plan to cut off all your limbs and become a chem monk, I don't suggest you take this class. She's never around to teach and if you end up with the blonde T.A.I feel for you. She's a ditz.
If you're complaining about Chem 111 you shouldn't be in college. TAs do most of the work, and perhaps they are picky graders, but in the end you'll do well. You just need to pay attention to details.
She is never there so I guess that pretty much sums up how good of a teacher she is. the TA doesn't help either because she doesn't really speak clear english, therfore you can't understand what she is saying.
She is not very helpful at all, but honestly we all have to take her if you have to take chem at all. However she could try actually coming to our midterm next time, that would be nice. Class is easy though, if you know chem at all.
Class depends on your TAs. You never really get to see Boerger, so either you luck out and have a good TA or you don't. Class is easy enough. Details are important.
if you have a good TA, you're set, otherwise you're screwed. She's never there, only came to lab 3 times this whole semester, didn't even show up for our final.
She'll lecture for 5-7 minutes and you're on your own. Unless you get a very good TA, otherwise prepare for the worst.
A horrible professor. My TA screwed up my final grade and admitted to it. When I took it to her, she refused to change it and told me to live with it. She simply didn't want to go through all the hassle of grade-fixing procedure. Besides, you never see her around anyway. Do not take her.
terrible proffessor, never there, not helpful. TA's do all the work so pray for a great one, otherwise, prepare to do poorly. Does not explain much. Dont try seeing her out of class, she will shoot you down. very mean. loyola should have other choices besides her.
she never there. always in a rush. Why the hell is she teaching then? STupid TA JAmes screwed up my grade bc he's a ****! I complained and my grade was change to the grade it was suppose to be!
GAHHHHHH! In 101 she was just bad and in 111 she never showed up. Instead I had a TA who told me to write false data so it would match with what she thought was a good number. Very unclear and so scary. I did not do well in this class after studying my butt off, and I'm smart, so the problem isn't m

I agree with most of the other comments. I'm not sure what she is getting paid for, she was never there and we were at the mercy of the TA's. If she could be located at all, it was in her office down the hall. She spends more time studying the chaos theory than teaching.

Burger is there for 5 min and then she's gone. The TAs do all the work. I don't know if that's good or bad. Class is not hard. The qualitative analysis are really easy. 2nd part of the semester is a breeze. Just hope that you have a good lab partner and you'll do fine. Much easier than chem 111.

Horrible professor!! Never helps out, if fact she's never even in class. She comes for 5 mins to introduce the material and leaves!!! TA's do all the work and grade all assignments. DON'T TAKE HER!!!!

Not sure if it applies b.c. she usually teaches lab but if you get her for anything other than chem lab AVOID.She is extremely inexperienced at teaching lecture. Tests you on material you have never seen before. Assumes too much of students.Acts like she doesn't want to be there. Take her for chem lab, nothing more.
Like most of the people before said, Angie was hardly in lab. If she was it was only to briefly introduce the material and leave somewhere. Hope you get a good TA because that's where your grade will come from. Not too nice of a person and has some **** and smoking issues. Not that great of a professor.
can't really comment on her cuz she was only there the first day. when u take lab its basically the ta's that do everything so dont even worry about her. most of the ta's are really good and helpful so seriously dont worry about it. my ta is awesome and thats all that matters. gen chem lab is so easy too, if u dont get an B or higher, shame on u
she doesn't care about her students. she and the TA acknowledged that they had misgraded answers but refused to alter the .001% necessary. The TA wanted to make the correction but she refused. unfortunately most students don't have a choice in taking this worthless lab
she is seriously there for like the first 10 minutes of each class, then ur ta's take over. its a really easy course though. you get to use your lab manuals and lab data sheets on the test.
She is nice, sometimes, but other times I feel like she doesn't care if I have a valid question. Very strict about grading- I stayed after lab almost every time, but, by the end, I had the 2nd highest grade in the class. sometimes was helpful by going around and pointing out your sig fig mistakes-tends to criticize instead of being constructive tho
She doesn't even teach her chemistry labs, and now she's attempting to teach a Women Studies class in seminar format. Why should a Chemistry teacher attempt to teach her class about Biological matters, when she does not even teach. If your feminist side isn't like hers, you'll do bad on the papers... I'm warning you!!! She'll bring your GPA down!!!
I was very disappointed with this class. She seems to be stuck in 2nd wave feminism and is not up-to-date with issues that affect our generation. She did not provide a well-rounded curriculum for all of our interests. Unclear and disorganized. Outdated books. Grade: weekly reading responses, a few essays, and final project.
We bearly saw her in lab. Everything is controlled by TA. Just hope you get a good one because mine was not. No other TA graded tough as her. Boerger didn't care because she didn't want to do anything.
She didn't teach the class, the TAs did. Actually, I only saw her a few times, and she was scowling every time. critisizes your work, but does not explain how to make it better...how well you do depends on your TA!
My TA was awesome, helped us pass the class. The professor hated pencils though. Some rules were bent for the evening class, maybe because everyone wanted to leave; like the professor. I'm happy I got the A-.
As long as you get a good TA is all good. Don't even worry about Boerger because you only see her the first day and the last day of lab. So just hope that your TA is helpful and youll do good.
lectures can be pointless at times; is not prepared, does lecture problems in class n makes frequent mistakes; NOT HELPFUL AT ALL! tests are ridiculously hard and LONG (42 Q in a 50 min class). wording and unclear questions makes them hard; i asked her for help, and refused to answer me. h.w questions totally diff. from test. avoid, avoid, AVOID!!
Worst lecture professor...EVER. She is NEVER prepared and makes more mistakes (even on exam questions) than a professor should be allowed to. She doesn't teach at all, she just does math problems the whole time. You know she's bad when 46% of the students drop the class and the class avg. is a 66%
oh my goodness, she is so cool and clear. if you attend class and get extra help if you nedd it there is no way you fail the class. she is the best chem teacher. she is very helpful and she practice problems in class that resemble those on the test. i really enjoyed her class plus she curves.
Happy 100th rating. She's never around and a little hard to talk to but overall the lab is easy. Talk to the TAs mine was good. Class is long but its not too bad.
Just thinking about having to attend her class makes me want to jump in fron of a speeding train
I'm with u on the train, but it would have to be a big train!!!!! The worst class I have EVER taken. I honostly wonder how much she even nows about chem?!

She is the absolute most unorganized, and unfair teacher ive ever had in my life. Her tests are very long and its almost impossible to finish it up in limited class time. I highly recommend taking a different chemistry teacher because she doesnt deserve the job teaching at Loyola, but betetr yet, she doesnt deserve to teach.
The labs are not too bad actually. TA was okay. However, the grading scale is a bit high. Final was not too bad but she looks to take points off for any reason possible. I agree that she is a point nazi.
ok well..yeah shes bad..but if you get stuck with her you can still pass with an A. just study hard, do practice problems, show that you care by going to discussion, askins questions, etc. she curves really good so u can still do good in the class if you know how to self-teach yourself.
she constantly makes mistakes in lecture,on her tests and even on the final.u have to be careful with her because she does not know how to teach.would not recommend taking her.
she was horrible! she was mean, and if you are ever late to any class avoid this mean lady. Unfortunately you cant. The best advice i have for you is to be punctual, pay attention to detail, and and become best friends with your lab assistant. She is there to make your life a living hell. if you are a minute late she deducts half off your lab for t
I know she's only human, but it was ridiculous how many mistakes this professor made in just this class alone- I mean felt embarassed for her. She lacks teaching and social skills. Tests are too unpredictable and more difficult than they need to be. She should go find something she's passionate about doing.. because it is clearly not teaching chem.
****! everyone below me is just talkin trash. this teacher is super-duper easy. u just have to know how to study. she can be confusing, but u get used to her teaching patterns and then its a peice of cake. seriously guys, take her, dont even sweat it.
DO NOT DO IT! Most scattered, disorganised, and unfriendly woman. She made tons of mistakes on every test and REFUSED to give us points back! She does not teach clearly. She is pretty helpful if you go during office hours, but when I went she was never there! I didn't have her for lab, but make every effort to avoid her for lecture!!

The labs were easy, but the practicals were pretty tricky and there was no curve. She doesn't budge on the grades she hands out. She didn't spend much time at all in the lab, and when I tried to talk to her one on one she didn't seem to want to hear anything I had to say. Definitely the worst professor I have had.
Pray for a good TA. Angie is horrible...mean, unfriendly, and confusing. No other choice though so you have to deal with it.
She is the most hideous teacher out there. I almost always feel she is ought to get you. Don't get caught wearing sandals or else she will make your TA dock a "safety point" her prized weapons against you.
EVIL. Crazy feminist and if you don't agree with her, she will dislike you
She is decent as far as actual teaching is concerned, but when it comes to grading she can be the most picky person in the world... and thats a promise. She will KILL your grade with the smallest dumbest stuff. WAY TOO PICKY!!!
Absolutely horrible. Way too picky. Hates students. Makes you wonder why Loyola even keeps her around. They really need to find a new instructor for the chem labs, because she isn't worth it.
She's not that bad of a teacher. I had a TA (who was really nice) so I didn't really need to talk to her that much, but when I asked her anything she was helpful. Maybe she's different if she's your actual teacher and there's no TA for your class.
I had a TA and didn't have to really deal with her..she was never in the class (at least during my class period) and when I asked for a make up lab like a month before bc of a planned vacation she said no and if I did she'd have to take points of bc of it. but in the end I still got a B
I had her over the summer and she is not bad at all. If you come to a chemistry lab expecting it not to be challenging, you are in for a rude awakening. This is college,at a school known for it's science program, there will be no one here holding your hand. Be prepared to work and if you put forth effort she will assist you when you need it.
Those of you who say she's horrible and picky, obviously don't learn from your mistakes. she is picky about everything, b/c of the subject, not b/c she is out to get you. chemistry is all about calculations and it needs to be very specific & as accurate as possible. i think she's a very good teacher, and raelly prepares you for future chem classes
She is very annoying and wants people to fail. She started taking off random points towards end of semester because class average was too high. She was never around and when she was, she would tell people that they were doing stuff wrong and was very rude about it. She doesn't do anything and she's not helpful at all!
she is picky i agree. but the least she could do is answer one of your questions. everything i ask asked her "was an unfair question" according to her. WTF? shes mean, rude and unfair
its too bad we had to get thru her before taking upper level chem courses for pre-health or bio/chem majors. this class sucks and she makes it worse
This woman is the biggest b**** that I have ever had for a teacher. Extremely nitpicky and made the TA's regrade half of our labs to take off points. Would not ever take her class again.
I hate this woman. The only reason i gave her a 2 was because she ended up giving me extra 0.5 points at the end of the semester for a mistake that SHE made. Even that i had to wait 2 hours to get
She Sucks! That being said she doesn't really do anything just walks around acting like she is busy doing something. Half the time she isn't even in the class. Just hope that you have a good TA. And she is really scary looking ... very very scary
definately the worst teacher i've ever had ever! very unapproachable. very scary looking. i regret ever having to take chemistry because of her
THe class itself is very doable, but the teacher is jsut bad. Unnapprochable, unclear, and mean. Pray for a good TA, keep your head down, and do your work well, and you'll be fine. But don't expect anything except B*****ness when dealign with this woman. But then, you don't really have a choice; if you're taking CHEM lab, you're stuck with her.
the biggest **** it has been my misfortune to have as a lab professor.
boerger= helpful in understanding the material+hard core mean ass!
I took her for lecture & lab. Lecture was wonderful and I feel like she was helpful to ALL questions.I raised my hand a lot.Her tests were more than fair.Material is hard, you MUST study.I recommend doing ALL OWL questions even optional.I was scared after reading these reviews, but I enjoyed her a lot.Lab=hope for a good TA! I believe I'll get A's!
She's not as bad as her ratings suggest but she's definitely not my fav prof. Lecture notes have plenty of typos so she may be misinforming you (pay attention so you can catch and correct them). When questioning your test grade you'll need to explain why she's wrong and you're right and you'd better have a solid argument. TECHNICALITIES DO COUNT!
ridiculous, just ridiculous
She was rude and mean. I never liked that class
Chem is a hard class and unless your willing to work hard, you won't get a good grade. So, although the material is hard, she makes it very do-able. Her prelab lectures are straight forward and the online quizzes help your grade. WATCH YOUR SIG FIGS & UNITS!
WHY ON THE EARTH we are looking for this professor. She has chem labs. AND WHO DO THE ALL WORK IN LAB?? TA ... TA ... AND ONLY TA. So everyone has the same prof for CHEM 111 & 112. So eventhough you don't want her, you have to take her. BUT DO NOT WORRY. BECAUSE TA is EVERYTHING THERE. THEY TAKE LAB ON THEIR SHOULDERS. MY TA WAS SOOOO GOOD. (cont..
she is a total b*tch. if she makes a mistake grading and you show her she will just find another point to take off! she can be seen taking smoke breaks outside flanner.
The class is easy if you put forth the effort and comprehend what is happening in labs. Ease of grades on labs is based on TA - exams are based on her. She's not the nicest person in the world, so try to go around her at all costs. Overall, it's an easy class if you know what's going on - just hope for a good TA.
I don't know what all these people are talking about this class was a breeze. She didn't do much of the teaching (spends much of class smoking in front of LSB) just hope you get a good TA and you'll be just fine!
This professor is not helpful at all! When you ask her questions she either tells you that you have to figure it out for yourself or that it is an unfair question. If you are not very familiar with Chemistry do not expect to get any guidance.
horrible teacher
She never showed up to our class and left EVERYTHING up to the TA's. Kind of a mean person at times, but overall not too bad. Make sure you have a good TA because Chem Lab is a hard class...but it's just a weed-out class, upper level labs are WAY better!
Chem 111 is a difficult course. You have to attend every class and are expected to do absolutely everything on your own. If you ask a question, you are viewed as weak/dumb rather than simply inquisitive. A good grade is possible, but you can only miss 11 points to get an A in the class. Angie is a nice lady, but a very difficult professor.
tips:write lab reports EXACTLY like the directions say!Get a partner and switch off with testing the knowns.Be friendly to your TA! Attend class - if you miss any qual(1-4) you will have a make up while others have that day off.
This class was terrible. I thought chem lab would be pretty cool but I dreaded going to this class every week. I didn't really know professor Boerger outside of class but she seemed evil and looked like she didn't want to deal with into to chem kids. My TA however was awesome and was the main reason I did okay in the class.
The TA's teach the class. She's just a really bad teacher. One time, she brought in new equipment and the TA's didn't know how to use it so they couldn't teach us. We all failed that lab and I lost the A. The exams are very difficult and the materials she gives you to study off of don't help that much. Do not take her.
She definitely doesn't do any of the work...basically puts all the work on the TA...so hopefully luck is on your side and you get a good TA...good luck :)
Boerger was never really in the class, the whole semester I only saw her a few times. For the most part the TA's are the only ones that will help you, so I cannot say that she was necessarily good or bad, but if you take her don't expect to see her at all.
If you go to her office hours, she's actually a very sweet person one-on-one. I was having a hard time with a bunch of stuff mid-semester and ended up crying in her office. She was very comforting and kind and gave me a great pep talk. That being said, she isn't very involved with the teaching of the course so hope for a good TA!
Angela is a very nice person but she does absolutely nothing! The TA's do all of the work! She can be slightly intimidating when she walks around, and she doesn't help with the labs. Thank goodness I had a great TA!
I wouldn't necessarily call Angie a professor. She only shows up for the pre-lab lectures and is often late to or doesn't go to her office hours. She's extremely unorganized and not approachable. She reeks of cigarette smoke constantly, which I think is so disgusting and unprofessional. Pray you get a helpful TA that isn't whipped by Angie!
Chem labs are entirely run by her TAs - she only pops in from time to time to check in. For a lab, the class is a TON of work and is NOT easy (especially 112). Be prepared to stay the entire length of every lab and to work hard for an A - you have to understand the concepts. It also depends which TA you get, it makes a huge difference.
She doesn't do much for the actual lab, the TA;s do all the work. Weekly prelab quizzes, inlab data sheetscalculations, and postlab assignments. the directions are very clear, but make sure you write downpay attention to little directions. not hard to get an A, as long as you do the assigments. two quizzes, can use lab manual and lab data sheets.
She didn't teach at all. The TA's do all the work. she's not in class at all. Don't take if you can.
Does not instruct (ta's do), poorly introduces subjects.
Absolutely awful. Does not teach, she hardly ever is in the room to help. The TAs do everything. She doesn't understand certain concepts and uses made up reasoning to prove herself right. Do not take her lab.
Professor Boerger is not there during lab, everything is one by the TA's. She is a very confusing professor and she doesn't tells you everything that you need to know to do well in the class even though the lab was easy. There is the lab, pre-lab quiz, post-lab quiz, discussion questions and sometimes homework. Miss anything and no make up
Okay this class is not that hard you literally just are following instructions from your lab manual. Just make sure to double check everything you do. Now as for her she doesn't teach at all her TA's do. To be honest they are better at teaching at least my TA was very helpful. And you have homework every week- a forum and occasionally worksheets.
my one-on-one experiences with Angie have been fine. She's actually very sweet and I think she's largely misunderstood. Be sure to ask educated questions and understand that it is your TA's responsibility to help you, not Angie As for lab it can be hectic if you are not well prepared. Read to understand and follow instructions and you will be OK.
Easy class but no one felt like they actually learned anything. Follow the directions and try your best on the two tests and youll do fine but there was never much emphasis on actually learning the concepts. There were things we were expected to already know how to do and were not ever taught. Points taken off for anything
This isnt much of a review over her teaching skills, but more or less a note to students to take: Past lab three in CHEM 111, we had a substitute lab instructor for the remainder of the semester to this current day of the review; I have no idea what essentially happened to Angie or where she went. Nor do I know if she will return next semester.
Angie was very confusing and mysterious throughout the half of the semester she was here. When she gave lectures she would breeze past concepts and not answer questions well. Then around midterms, there was rumors that she came into a lab unfit to teach and mentally impaired in some way, new prof began teaching for the lab in the middle of the week
I disliked chemistry lab in general, but there is little variation across all gen chem labs. Same labs, same practicals, and pretty consistent grading. Angie wasn't present in our labs much past the first day, so it really just matters that you have a good relationship with your TA. Just show up to labs prepared to get points. Open note practicals.
