She's too easy, maybe too easy, perhaps she can't really teach.
practice tests help she gives them as long as you study and try you will get a good grade

i am in acc430 and i am doing both courses at the same time.lazy and a bad excuse for a professor. should be taken care of, most student are lost. hurt practice exam is exactly like the exam it self.some students are here to learn not only for the grade
the head of the accounting department must be blind or absent, other wise she wouldnt be in class. in any event, if anyone of you at cuny or bmcc gets this please help us learn, provide peofessors who teach such as wolfson, hatami, navas,chu series
So far, so good. Now that I know her practice test are her test, this should be an easy class. I think she teaches good and always stops to check if the students have any questions. I like her class and plan to take another with her as professor

Her class is very easy, but she doesn't know how to teach. If you are a student who can study on your own, you'll be fine because her practice exam doesn't make any difference from the actual exam. But if you are not, don't take her class.

Absolutely untrue about an easy "A". Whoever said that - don't listen to them. Accounting is not a hard class, however she did not make it fun. Her practice test are exactly the same as the actual one, however if you don't study - you won't pass, let alone get an easy "A".

She was not a very pleasant woman, but her test were easy as hell. Also her practice test are the same as the real test. The homework is stupid and don't need to do it, just be there for the review. She is a little hard to understand sometimes. She can be nice to some students but dont get on her bad side like me cuz she'll never like you.
Very thick accent. Hard to understand. Gives homeworks but doesn't checks, so doesn't makes sense to do them. Tough grader.

She is not a good professor. When you ask her a very simple question, she has to explain to you for a very long time because she doesn't know how to explain. Her explaination is very poor. But her exams are pretty easy.
I wanted to learn acc now i hate it. She is a **** if you get on her bad side, so dont, she holds grudges, she is annoying and not a good teacher doesnt explain well if you really want to learn.
One of the worst professors at BMCC. In order to avoiding her "bad side", just simply sit in the class and don't ask any question or give out any comment even though you may not understand what comes out from her mouth most of the time.

This professor don't know how to teach, you can pass the class easy but you don't learn anything. she just teach direcly from the book and don't know how to explain, if you really want to learn something about accoting don't take this professor.
She's nasty and nasty looking. You can barely understand what's coming out of her mouth! She doesn't explain her work but expects you to anyway. At the end of the semester, at least 4 or 5 students remains in the class. Do not take this professor. She's bad news!

She was not very helpful at all!! Don't really know what she is teaching. If it ain't in the book, do NOT ask her because she will just look at you as if you have a third nipple [or something]. You would be better off getting help from one of your classmates, because she really has no clue as to what she is doing.

I think this is her first time to teach ACC321. She didn't taught anyting to us, only asked us to follow the books step by steps. The only things we need to do for grading is to do the end of chapter problem, check the answer,then give it to her IN PERSON, that's it. you have to study by yourself,otherwise you will fail.

professor Jervis does not teach anything! all she does is adressing students to the textbook. she makes styding of accounting VERY boring. basicalyy, she is = emty space. all you will be doing is reading the text and figuering it out yourself. her class is a waste of time and money.
Great professor, I learned a lot from her, her test were simple. Gave a lot of practice.
I don't think she is that bad as other critics say.Sometimes it is hard to understand what she try to explain but that was due to the complexity of contents rather than her incomprehensible explanation as some students complain. Her exams are easy so this is good for non-accounting major students. However, I don't recommend her for ACC majors.

This professor is so boring. I thought I would like accounting but she made it worse. she cannot teach, at all, she needs to seriously change her teaching style like right now. Im not giving her a bad review because she game me a c-. look at everyone elses' comments. she is horrible dont take her.
There's about 9 hws and 3 exams which are exactly the same as the hws and anything else she goes over. What I found hard was that the final was on 5 chapters which was pretty long. Her explanations are tricky primarily due to her accent and inability to explain things well. I did do self-study though.

I am an accounting major and averaging an a+ in her class.In all honesty she really is as bad as everyone says.She does not explain anything.She takes her lesson plan from the book and strictly from the book.As a CPA she passes on no hands on information or any information of that matter.If you do not have a clear understanding of acctg 1 RUN!!

She's not a great professor but she's not that bad either. If you listen (hard without falling asleep) and do the homework, I'm pretty sure that you'll get an A (unless you're retarded). This is no rocket science, it is ACC122. She grades solely on exams (3 of them) and there is no extra credits. Exams are true falls mixed with multiple choices.

I took her class this semester and she is the WORST professor I have ever had. Don't take her class. I am an all A student transfering to Baruch in the fall and her class just screwed my GPA up. She does not have effective teaching skills at all. I am one of 4 students who passed her class this semester and i got a D. Don't waste your time!

She is one of the hardest professors. I am an all A student and got a B- which screwed up my average. I got 2 90's on her 2 quiz and then the final brought me down to a B-. I never really did the homework because she doesn't care and she doesn't care about attendance. As long as you catch up quick you can get a good grade but it is HARDDD to get A

She is the most unprepared, laziest professor. She is hard to comprehend. She barely teaches, she just shows a power point she pulled from the book. Assignments were not synchronized with text book. Very confusing. Wish I could get a re-fund on my tuition for this class. I wanted to really learn, instead I learned nothing and tanked my GPA.

She's sarcastic! But I would just ignore it. She will help you if you really need it. Most of the course you learn from the book so you really don't need her. However, I took her years ago in ACC 222 and she was just as sarcastic then as she is now. She not horrible but I get the impression she just there to do a job and that's it!

I never have took my time to rate a professor but this one was CERTAINLY an exception. There are many good professors in BMCC for accounting and this is the LAST one you should take. The course is graded on only three tests the whole semester, so if you don't do well on them there is no way to better your grade. She is very rude as well. DON'T TAKE

Terrible class. Everything was based on online questions, no hands on work. If you don't understand a quest., good luck, because she won't explain it for you. Grade is based off 3 exams. If you're good at self-teaching then you'll be okay. If I had the time to drop the class I would have honestly. All of these reviews aren't lying. Don't enroll.

Honestly if you want to make your college experience that much harder, I would strongly recommend avoiding this teacher at all costs! ! Only 3 exams and explanations are not clear, this ruined my gpa and hopes of becoming a future accounter, don't do the same mistake as I did, hopefully it's not to late when you read this.

By far the worst professor of my academic career.! You are better off teaching yourself and going to tutoring with questions. Her lectures and class work does not reflect her tests and you are graded on test #1 a midterm and a final THATS IT . There is no opportunity for extra credit. Avoid this professor if you care about your GPA and LIFE !!!
I really don't know what to say. I might have been the only person who passed. She directly reads from the book but she does TRY to explain even though it never really works. Think of this class as homeschooling yourself. That's the only way you'll understand the work otherwise your staring down the barrel of an F.

Professor Jervis basically just reads the text book and then tests from it. It is a very lazy class and you basically have to teach yourself.

Absolutely terrible!! All she does is read the homework answers in class there are no lectures and no type of teaching being done. You have to teach yourself and READ READ READ the textbook if you don't you will fail simple. She does not do anything but read the answers to the homework so good luck with actually learning something.
This is a really tough class but if you take Prof. Jervis, you must read just like a regular class course. I did really at university thanks to Jervis' teaching. Thank you Prof. Jervis for helping me "open" my eyes and mind.

Prof. Jervis was an excellent teacher of accounting. She has massive knowledge on the subject. She did a great job of teaching it to us. If you applied yourself in her class there is no reason not to get an A. But she's tough. She is no joke because to succeed in any career, you must demonstrate competence. Thank you Prof. Jervis!

Terrible professor. This class is basically an online course. Everything done in class is created by Pearson. Tests and Homework. There are only 4 Exams for this course. Nothing else. Homework/Class Participation/Quizzes/ does not effect your grade at all. This prof. does zero work while Pearson's technology computes all grades, even Powerpoints!
If you want a job, you must be able to produce otherwise, why would anyone hire you. Professor Jervis has prepared me for the real world. You don't work, you dont get paid.

Terrible !The final grade just depend on 4 exams,if you failed,that's failed.I was kept a not bad grade foe whole semester but unfortunately failed in the final,which just dropped my grade down.I was so annoyed because I got a such low grade.
Professor Jervis does not teach, she just reads from the book every single day. She is very slow and does not know how to explain things thoroughly. She does not understand the material she teaches , therefore, she should not be teaching it. It's a shame that BMCC hired her as an accounting professor. Just shows how much they care.

This is the type of Prof. you will get at the university. If you cannot cut it, the university will say you are not ready for college or you should not attend college. This class would be better if its a hybrid course, everything we have to do is online and we just go over the questions in class from homework, and she goes by the H.W really fast and doesn't explain some answers. The exams are based on the H.W and exams are only used for grading! I feel like i'm wasting my time every time i come to this class

I wanted to be challenged so I went to and graduated from Baruch College with honors. Professor Jervis was one of a few professors at BMCC who actually told me the truth in her teaching. I thank her and the college.
Do not take her! That's all I want to say. She thinks her class is the only one you will be taking, she wanted to prepare us for a 4 year college while we are at a 2 year college. That doesn't make sense. 30% First quiz 20% Midterm 50% Final exam. I am NOT kidding.

Shes a good professor she deserves a better grading average on rate my professor
i would not recommend people to take her class. i took her acc231 class and class itself is not too hard . i was thinking i would get A grade but i got B+. Before final exam my grade was A-. Well i do not do negative comments usually but i thought i had to do. worst professor experienced until 3rd semester.
Professor Jervis is a sweetheart. If you study, do your work, you will be fine. If you decide not to, sorry you do not fit in her class.
I would not have passed,without Professor's Jervis guidance and respectful approach to learning. i listened to this Professor and I am now forever grateful.

Im not going to go into details but get straight to the point: If you like to learn something AVOID TAKING HER! She gets offended and puts you on the spot if you ask questions because she doesn't know the answers, not available, all she does is read the book in class and give 4 tests each 25% of your grade. She is not clear on assignments
Worse professor ever. She hates her job, makes the class miserable. If you ask questions she will get uncomfortable and make you look stupid. She will never give you an answer. Take this class and you will regret it. Easy material if you know quickbooks and excel, worse prof. Book is expensive and mandatory.
She can't do her workloads and can't teach. Just avoid her to save your GPA. Waste all my time, energy, efforts, etc. Four months devoted a course for nothing. She was badmouthing the class.
Shes not a good professor to me because she dont explain the assignment or the chapter in multiple ways for you to understand the course. Shes a hard/ tough grader and she dont feel confident in that class. I am confused in her class everyday; the style of her teaching is hard to understand.

She's a hard/tough grader. She don't explain the course material and the assignment in mulitple ways in order for the student to understand the course well without being confessed. Every time I go to her class, I am confused all the time becuase she is not clear.
If you want to learn something, dont take her, if you want to save your GPA, dont take her, she doesnt even know how to use the computer, she is not clear about the assignment, and you will learn nothing from this class, waste your time!
DO NOT this professor because she wont teach anything. She expects you to be an expert. Also expect to do nothing but homework in class because we literally did just that all semester. You know its the professor when the entire class is doing poorly, like its not on you as the student. No one was careless, except for her.
Professor Jervis represents what a real professor should do. this professor expects you to earn your grade and this professor demands excellence. I earned several credentials because of this professor's teaching. Thank you Prof. Jervis for helping me become a better learner

Terrible teacher, impossible to understand, does not care about her students or job, not an overall nice person, she gets mad when you don't ask questions but more mad when you do. This course is hard enough don't waste your time taking it with this teacher.

Not a fear grader, strictly by the rubric.
She's very unorganized, she's does powerpoints of the material but mostly wants you to read the textbook instead, and just like one other review said she makes it seem like everything in this course is common sense. she's also very hard to reach outside of class, she also gives a lot of homework, she expects you to do over 8 hours of HW a week.

Shocked Professor Jervis has any good ratings. Don't believe them! As college students we know that we need to apply ourselves in order to excel, but Professors should do more than read from a textbook and go over homework questions. That's all she did. She has a nasty attitude, she doesn't provide clear explanations and discourages students.
Professor was very unprofessional/ spoke very rude. Her tests all are 100 questions,100 min to complete them even if she started the test late. Her test questions are multiple choice but some questions take a minute to just read it and you do math afterwords. Had some subtle racist remarks too. Very disrespectful and not understanding at all. 1/10
Very unreasonable not understanding and just absolutely awful, If you read the positive reviews it is very clearly written by her....she is just an awful professor at all costs avoid her classes if you want to keep your sanity.
She is never available after during her office hours. She was very difficult and not understanding to students. Prof jervis is very stubborn even if she is in the wrong on her mistakes. I really dont reccommend her class unless you are looking to mess up your Gpa.
has a lot of assignment and ridicules you if you do not understand the materials. tests are multiple choice but you barely have time to take it. Has a lot of assignments and is will ask you to go to tutoring when u have a question she could easily answer. attendance is mandatory and u will be called on multiple times to participate for attendance.
I took this professor at BMCC. What I noticed is that she is not very understanding to her students and when you let her know you don't understand a topic she reacts in an impatient way. She randomly calls on students.This is highly discouraging. Please consider other options for taking an accounting course
Worst professor I have ever taken. Half the time she doesn't know what she's talking about. She essentially reads the slides of the lectures without actively teaching the material. Her exams are 100 questions and have nothing to do with what she taught us during class. Please don't take this professor whatever you do.
Don't choose this professor, three exams,22%/each one. final for 24%, The exam only has 2 hours with 100 questions. The content of the exam is completely different from the knowledge taught. If you're considering an accounting course, avoid Professor Jervis. She puts minimal effort into her classes and rarely responds to emails. Her teaching mainly involves reading slides and having students answer Pearson questions. Additionally, your grade is based on four exams that are not even related to the coursework covered in Pearson
Professor Jervis' class is a tough one. She expects a lot of self-study from the textbook and homework, with little hands-on guidance. However, tools like Unstuck ai can be very helpful for staying on top of the material. Overall, a challenging course, but manageable with the right study strategies.
So confusing and a horrible professor. Not understanding and other things related to showing off a type of negative attitude for as,,,n students. I cannot say as for guidelines. Just don't take her I should have read the reviews. Please don't I promise I'm doing you a favor.
I took her 4 years ago, my cousin had his class chosen for him by an advisor. Long story short he asked me for help as i taken this class before. He told he about how bad his professor was and I didn't believe how bad she was until i saw who his professor was. Still as rac**t as ever. She's so lucky it's an online class with what she said.
Professor Jervis or shall I say Dr Jervis is an amazing Professor! She worked long and hard to provide us with her feedback and to create this amazing course for college students. I appreciate her efforts. . I received an A because of her leniency. Don't believe these reviews. I took her class and she's amazing. Only 3 exams with curve, little hw.

Great professor and a really enjoyable class! She's easygoing, explains everything clearly, and goes over all the homework in class. There isn't too much homework, and the exams are fair and manageable. Definitely a stress-free and worthwhile course
She does not seem to know about the content she is teaching. Do you want an answer? She'll tell you from the textbook. She is test heavy. Her tests are 100 questions each. None of the homework she gives or the slides she reads will prepare you for the exams. Be ready to study on your own. She is the only forensic accounting professor. Good luck.

If ACC 222 is only available with that professor and no other sections are open, register early to take it the following semester with a different instructor, or request an e-permit to take it outside BMCC. In any case, do not pick her section especially if you are an accounting major.
Really bad professor. Aced her class of course because I paid attention and did the work. Surprised she has a CPA, but maybe her understanding of accounting is better than her vocation for teaching it. Avoid at (nearly) all costs. Really, you'll get by if you're good, but if you're an average or lower performing student, avoid. Rude and mean.
