She is a wonderful teacher. In the past I've had a hard time with math, but is very clear and easy to understand. I finally understand math!
Very good and very clear. She's really good at explaining the process of math. The tests are hard, but all calc tests are hard. I definitly recommend her has a teacher.
Good teacher. She is nice and does a good job of explaining math so you can understand it.
GREAT TEACHER. SHE LOVES MATHS AND SHE MAKES LEARNING FUN.
Extremely good teacher. She can explain math very well. There's only one homework assignment a week that is graded. She also gives you practice problems if you want to do them. The tests are not too hard. You just need to know the material like any other math class.
She was not helpful at all and did not explain anything well.
Math is not my favorite subject but Angela does a great job explaining things step by step with repitition. Her teaching style is what got me such a good grade. Highly recommended.
I would take Angela for every math class if it were possible!
She is there for her students. She explains as well as any other professor and she is willing to help outside off class. She does expect the students to do their part though.
I disliked her very much. For any problems that have more than one way to solve them, she always teaches the hardest way, making somethings near impossible. I had to go to a tutor just to figure out how to do a lot of the problems. on the bright side, she barely assigns any homework
explains stuff well but fast, no time to take notes and refuses to go back. i went to her after class for help and her response was "read the book" which i already had a few times and didn't understand it this being the whole reason i went to her. she refused to help and she expects you to know all mathematical terms before class starts
Angela Earnhart is the best math instructor I have ever had. This class is hard, very hard, and the amount of time you have to put in is HUGE like 4 hours per every lesson including class time. But that doesn't change with the professor. Angela will give you all the tools you need to pass with an A, it really all depends on you. She's helpful too!
She is very nice but very hard she rushes through the chapters and doesnt explain the content very well....
Professor Earnhart is really a nice person, and I imagine great to hang out with outside of school. However the class is hard. She covers things very quickly, you don't have time to let it all absorb. So unless you are pretty good already with math and terms I do not suggest taking her course.
Angela provides multiple ways to do a problem so you can find your comfort zone. Attendance is really a MUST. Unlike other classes, missing even one class can set you off guard. The more you prove to be a good student, the more Angela is willing to help. She also provides good visual tips. Math 108 is not easy no matter who you take.
I loved math before attending her class, ive always been sort of a teachers pet but she never gave me the time of day not to mention she talked to me like i was stupid many of times and other students even asked me about it. lets put it this way my class started out with 32 students and she only had 8 left by the time the class was over.
Angela is a great teacher! She explains everything in a way you can understand. If you are having trouble she will help you in any way she can but like any good teacher she expects you show up and do your work.
She was tough, she pretended to offer help but wasnt helpful. I hate how she grades her exams! They set you up for failure.
one of the best math teachers i have had. The material she covers is'nt easy but she is very good at clarifying things as well as giving great notes. If you do your homework you should have no problem in her class.she is extremely helpful if you are not slacking. Her downfall is returning graded things quickly, it never bothered me too much though.
Loved her.
I do not suggest taking this class with Earnhart, especially an online class. I learned more from the way MathXL walks you through the steps of a problem than from lectures. I gave a lot of effort and only got a B. She seems to be annoyed with questions from students and skips through steps expecting everyone to know her shortcuts.
She has been teaching 108 for many years and knows how to teach efficiently and effectively. During lecture she takes the time to answer questions and emphasizes areas most students have trouble in. A very happy and fairly laid back teacher who connects with the class. loved her.
Uses Math XL (online) to teach and grade for her, No forgiveness, absolutely terrible teaching and instructing methods. No late credit or even make up assignments, not helpful if your struggling at all or even have questions. Continues to smile to your face even while she stabs u in the back.... Failed out after giving up, dif. teach got an A
I really liked having her for Math 147. She's very helpful and willing to learn with the class. We had homework assigned but it was never graded. The course had only pop quizzes and tests in the gradebook. She is a good teacher. I wouldn't recommend if you aren't a good test taker or fast learner. it's a very fast paced class!
Angela is a great instructor. I had her for both math 143 and Calculus. Don't expect to be babied in her class. She grades fairly and does not offer much extra credit. Make sure you go to class, you paid for it anyways. Even if you do skip class she has the lectures posted online.
Angela is a great teacher. Her lessons are clear, she is open to questions, and is very reliable to contact. Attendance doesn't count, but she has 25 pop quizzes throughout the semester. She also assigns homework but doesn't grade it. But doing it definitely helps. If I had applied myself to this class, it would have been an easy A.
Does not give good grading feedback and does not clearly explain things.
Online Algebra 108 If you study you will do well. She is a fair grader and lays out the course quite nicely. I'm not great at math and the only reason I passed is because she taught to her curriculum. She doesn't try to trip you up by giving homework or test problems that she has not went over. I thoughly enjoyed her class : )
The class is tough but Angela explains concepts well and is very willing to go over missed test questions or quizzes. She has large homework assignments every day and they take a long time to finish but it's worth it.
When I took this class the lecture was four days a week and 50 minutes each class which is way too little for any teacher good or bad to be able to properly teach calculus. Angela is a sweet teacher who is funny in class but just isn't given enough time to teach a high level class.
had to buy a mathway subscription to fill in all the blanks left by everything she skipped over. Lecture notes are riddled with typos.
If all you want to learn are her shortcuts that dont work on homework problems, this one is for you! Wish I would have dropped to learn legitimate, universal problem solving with someone else.
She doesn't do much. Get a tutor.
She's never short on short cuts, and expects that you will understand everything because she teaches all her little tricks. I used online math videos to get through the material, but would have preferred to have a real teacher.
Had to go through every chapter to translate what she was trying to say. Even then, I was more confused after listening to her than before. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Not a good teacher for this class. Seemed intent on offering the least amount of help and instruction possible. I would NEVER recommend this teacher to anyone
Done take a class with this techer
One of the worst classes I've had at NIC, I would not recommend this teacher to anyone. Seems unhappy and not engaging. Wish I had taken this from someone else.
Taught to homework and tests. She did NOT assume that I remembered all the steps to solve problems and went through everything thoroughly. She was methodical. I enjoyed her class because it was very straight forward.
This math course is possibly the worst college course I have taken. The instructor has an attitude of superiority and does not care if students learn. I would not recommend Earnhart to anyone. Take this course at another school, if possible.
Poorly organized online course. Very little contact with the teacher. You're on your own in this one. Forget it if you need any amount of help or personal attention because the teacher is unavailable.
Reading the other reviews, I have to agree with most. She teaches to the test, which should make this an easy class. But there is no effort to help us understand the material. This teacher has no energy or enthusiasm for students or for math. Very boring, which made it difficult to keep going to class. Not recommended.
I am retaking this course because I had Earnhart in the spring. She was terrible at explaining concepts, tried to teach shortcuts all the time and many times could not answer student questions. She was not up to teaching this content. I am now taking it online from a different school and understand concepts much better. Students: take it elsewhere.
One of the worst online classes I've had and I have taken most of my courses online. Very little for students to use to learn the concepts. Earnhart is an example of a bad teacher making learning harder for the students.
I love math and was excited to take this class, but my interest is quickly diminishing. Earnhart is very low energy, low enthusiasm, and it seems, low interest in actually teaching students. I now bring a double espresso just to stay awake in this class. I won't be recommending her to my friends who need this class.
I need this class for my degree, but am not understanding what this teacher is saying. She cannot seem to express the concepts in a way students can get it. One of the worst at NIC, in my view.
Earnhart is possibly the laziest teacher I've ever had. She seems worn out and uninterested in our class, and it makes it boring for us as students. She seems to rely on little tricks that do nothing to help us understand the class material.
Very drab dry delivery, seems to be spent. When you ask a question, she seems to roll her eyes so you know just how dumb you are.
Angela is great! The only thing I would be wary of is her pop quizzes. She does teach to the test, which is helpful. she mainly grades on just tests and quizzes. Homework is never collected or graded.
I loved her as an instructor, she really did care. Homework isn't mandatory. Bu there are pop quizzes at least one a week. They are based on homework questions and you can use your homework if completed.
Angela seems to want to help students, but puts no actual effort in her teaching. She seems to be at the end of her career and worn out. I feel cheated to have to pay for this low level of effort from this instructor. Bad value for my money, shame on you, NIC.
Not good. Teaches only what is on test, so you can't understand anything about it.
This class should be easy for anyone who is good at math, but Angela's way of explaining the material is very confusing. She does teach to the test, so that is helpful, but I found the best way to make it through her lectures is to wear earbuds and watch Khan videos while she is talking. That way you won't miss any impromptu assignments. Good luck.
With calculus, just don't take it online. Unless you are a math genius who has math powers that have allowed you to ascend from this realm, this class needs to be taken in person. Prof. Earnhart is an average teacher, but she goes over things fast so be prepared to spend nights confused over hw. Falling behind will end your whole calculus career.
i LOVE math, but am hating this particular course and the way it is taught.
Earnhart should NOT TEACH, especially online classes. She does not give students the feeling that she is there at all. She ghosted us after we paid good money to learn from her.
I took this class from Earnhart and could not understand a word of what she said. I almost quit my major, but decided to try taking it in Spokane, and aced the class with complete comprehension. I don't know what Earnhart's deal is, but she does not teach well.
Earnhart lack the ability to help students understand the harder concepts. She spends a lot of time on the simple stuff, then glosses over the hard stuff, which is the majority of the homework and test. She seems worn out like she can barely bring herself to explain things one more time. Her lack of energy kills any enthusiasm students come in with
She does not take nearly enough time to explain things. Trying to take calculus online with her was a nightmare. She'll spend half the lecture just looking at the book and then will gloss over the notes because she doesn't have time left. It's been the most frustrating class I've taken so far at NIC. Nothing clicks. Homework doesn't make sense.
She is terrible, a waste of time and money. She does not seem familiar with the material and spends class time reviewing it. She expects us to figure everything out from the book, basically raising the question: "What are we paying you for?" I don't know if it's dementia or just lack of intellect. Many of her fellow NIC math teacher are just as bad
Mostly online homework, graded by a computer. Little interaction with the teacher. You could teach it to yourself a lot cheaper and without the odd hassles this teacher seems to insert into her courses. Frustratingly ineffective teacher.
Takes a strange approach to teaching Discrete Math unlike what I've seen from other courses on the topic, with a focus on being "formal", and requiring answers to be in paragraph form explaining in detail how you solved the problem. Lectures were taught at a low level, spending too much time on basic concepts we already know and understand.
Taking this woman's class was a nightmare. She seemed very unfamiliar with the subject and was constantly confused by her own lecture material. Despite that, she graded to a very inexplicably specific and confusing standard. Any deductions of homework were almost never explained, and the following tests were way overweighted. Avoid like the plague.
I doubt she understands the material. Any learning I do is from online searches of the topics in the class. Her teaching is far below the most basic acceptable standard. How she continues to accept paychecks from student tuition exhibits a serious lack of integrity and moral fiber as well.
I took calculus with Angela a few semesters ago as a dual credit student, and coming from a high school without a strong math program, I think it was thanks to Angela's awesome explanations and helpful feedback that I was able to get an A in her class. She has a super unique teaching method that really made me understand the material.
Angela's teaching methods are "old and in the way". She makes no effort to understand the students in her class, you either get it the way she presents it or you fail. And her presentation is lackluster and insufficient. Don't take this class from her.
I have her for zoom so everything is on My Math Lab. It's a normal workload for a math class, you have a week or two to finish a unit and then take a test over it. Those are the only grades tho, the unit and exam, so if you fail the exams your grade drops tremendously. I don't think she makes an effort to have her students do good in class.
Lectures were great, very interactive, lots of working in groups and talking through concepts together as a class. Very manageable workload, textbook is free online (there is a fee for Edfinity homework access). Was nervous going into this class but it ended up being a great experience.
She seemed to be reluctant to actually teach, and instead tried to get us to teach each other in groups. This method was poorly conceived and did not work for me. She seems worn out and had no energy.
II always loved math, until I took Earnhart's class. She was able to teach in a way that confused me about concepts I already understood, Not good.
Calculus is hard. I think I could have pulled an A if I worked harder. She seemed to teach the material well. I went to a few office hours and she provided extra tutoring each week.
Beware! If her test covers 2 units, 75% of the questions will be on unit 2 and 25% will be on unit 1. This meant that both her final unit test and comprehensive final were 50% graph theory. If you're in discrete math, MAKE SURE YOU PAY ATTENTION IN THAT UNIT. She also hardly teaches, so get ready for Chegg/Quizlet/Khan Academy. :\
The tests are weird and unpredictable. 90% of the questions could be from one section of one chapter, who knows how she chooses. She seems a bit unhinged when you ask a question. Hire a tutor or take the course somewhere else.
My experience with Earnhart can't be described with the legit stupid character limit of 350. Here's the take-home message: Earnhart usually refuses to help students through practice problems. She does the bare minimum, with no interest in helping students critically understand the material. You're better off waiting and taking this course at Uni.
The course is very heavily based on how you do on the test. There is so much homework, and the videos are long and boring. She pretty much bases the test content solely on her teachings. But, as a person she is quite nice and willing to help
I could not learn from Angela in the way she taught. Your grade will basically be whatever you got on the test even though there is a lot of homework expected. If you have any test issues like test anxiety then this won't be the class for you.
She was alright. I took her class online so I just had to watch lectures. She teaches well, I really learned a lot, but the videos were long and kind of boring. She wasn't very interactive and I feel like all she did was grade my tests. I did pretty good in the class, but I would have enjoyed it better if I had a little more feedback from her.
As someone who really does not like Math, Professor Earnhart made the class pretty simple as long as you can pace yourself with the weekly assignments and preparing for the 3-4 major tests that account for 80% of your overall grade. I would recommend to others as long as you can manage your time well and pace yourself decently.
Earnhart seems worn out as she puts little effort into making sure students are learning. She seems to be going through the motions but has no real interest in the material or in the students' comprehension. Tests have little to do with homework problems and are graded very harshly.
This is the worst professor I've ever had. She toke 4-7 days to respond to any of my emails. The criteria for her exams are extremely harsh. No notes, more points taken away on exams that should not have been taken away, and not using math problems that were taught in my math lab that is the main learning module that we use.
She was the worst instructor ever. She takes a week to answer emails. Exams were unrelated to homework questions. Terrible instruction methods.
Angela is kind and approachable, but her teaching style may not suit everyone. She grades strictly, and her exams are tough. I didn't do well in her class, but this isn't just a complaint; it's honest advice. If you have the option, take Ben or Jason instead. Their reviews are false, and they are some of the best math instructors at NIC.
Angela delivers no value in lectures or videos, much like Jason. Neither puts effort into student achievement. Ben on the other hand is a likable “good ole boy” so at least does not suck the life out of students in each lecture. I would not recommend any of the three to anyone interested in learning math.
I really wanted to like professor Earnhart. However, her exams are worth 80% of your grade and are incredibly difficult. She does not give any extra credit, and her lectures videos are hard to get through.
Contrary to other reviews, I thought this class was pretty straightforward. The lecture videos are long and lots of homework, but it got the message through. I was always worried for the exams
