Angela makes her class incredibly easy. Very lenient grader, and you get to use the book during the online quizzes. She loves what she teaches and makes everything interesting. The midterm and final questions were pulled straight from the study guides. I highly recommend taking any class by her!
I loved her class and enjoyed every lecture. It's true that her class is extremely, but unlike other easy classes you walk out of this one learning a lot. Online discussions and quizzes and 2 in class tests that are similar to the online stuff. 1 super easy research. Overall she ROCKSSSSS
She is awesome! Such a good teacher and fair grader. I took this class to satisfy a GE requirement, but if I needed to take more religion classes, I would take her. You will enjoy her class.
She is very sweet and nice. She gives hints on what the test will cover. She gives a lot of vocab and use a word bank on her tests so make sure you memorize those
Dr. Feres is amazing teacher. She enjoys the subject and makes it interesting. I took this 15 week course in only 5 weeks, and it was very easy. I didn't open my book once for this class and I averaged 97%-100% on my tests. Fun class. TAKE HER!
Angela's a great teacher. Super easy class, would take again. If you're looking for a small workload and just looking to fill in a GE, you should definitely take her class. Her tests are online, and I averaged a 95% on all of them. Not only is she an easy grader, she's also very friendly and approachable. Never read the book, and I still have a 96%
Ms. Feres is probably the sweetest instructor I've ever had. You can tell she loves what she is teaching, and she makes her lectures really funny and interesting. She explains everything really well and hints at test material during lectures. The tests are super easy, but you'll still learn a lot! I would definitely recommend this class to anyone.
She was so easy to talk to and listen to. She was very passionate about what she was teaching. She really cared about her students. She was very knowledgable about all the different religions and respected them all equally. Class had 1 midterm, 1 final, & discussion boards due once a week. I strongly recommend the class and Professor Feres.
Angela is an angel, the sweetest teacher i've ever had! She wants to help you. If you show up and study it's an easy A
LOVE prof Feres. such a sweetheart and really cares about her students. Don't miss a discussion board, they are easy but worth a lot. I enjoyed going to class.
I definitely recommend her class if you're looking for an easy A. Don't even bother getting the textbook. You won't need it. Discussion boards once a week, one research paper over the topic of your choice, a few different online tests, a midterm, and the final. The tests are very easy! Our study guide for the final literally was the test.
She is so easy. she gives soooooo much extra credit too. I nearly got a perfect A. the only reason i got an 99.5 instead of and 100%, is because i stopped trying towards the end. thats how much extra credit she gives out. doing the bare minimum in this class will get you an A. you really have to be trying hard to fail. take her, shes friendly too.
One of my favorite professors! She's definitely there to help you, the tests are pretty easy (especially if you take notes) and she makes class really enjoyable! Ultimately, she really just wants you to understand the different religions and have respect for them!
Her class is really easy and straight forward. There's a discussion board due almost every week so keep an eye out for those. The tests, midterm, and final are pretty easy. Professor Feres is really nice and grades fairly. She is cool and usually lets the class out early too!
Super easy class. Tests: online, untimed; you have several days to complete them. Book: isn't needed; but I found that it helped with discussion boards. Allalmost all of the ?'s from the midtermfinal came from the workbook; so if you fill in the answers (can be gotten from quizlet) and review them, you are guaranteed an A on the test.
She has been my favorite teacher at state so far! Super nice, makes lectures fun, easy easy easy tests! Make sure to do the discussion boards every week (easy points). The tests are online with no time limit. Book not required to pass, neither is the workbook waste of money! Wonderful woman and wish I could take another class with her.
Feres is funny in a weird mom kinda way. She wasn't a very captive speaker, but she's very nice. Simple discussion boards. 3 total online tests (google lol). I didn't go to class often. In class midterm and final, but you can use note-cards on them. She offers a lot of extra credit too. Cool teacher. Simple class. DONT BUY THE BOOK
Attendance is not required but I still go because she is so interesting to listen to! She clearly knows a lot about the subject and is really into it. She makes jokes about being a sex addict and being high which is pretty funny. Also, when she cancels class she doesn't make us do that homework and is totally reasonable pushing tests back.
Amazing professor! Tests are mostly vocabulary and is primarily made up of what she goes over in class. I only needed the textbook to cite from for the discussion boards, but not really for the tests. I never got bored during her lectures and if you email her with questions before the test she'll get back to you right away.
pretty darn easy. says attendance is required in syllabus but.. you'll figure it out. i just realized something and i had to share: fun fact, her powerpoints? taken directly off of wikipedia. i had them alongside each other and the order of events and resemblance is downright startling. just thought i'd share.
best religion teacher ever. loves what she does. super easy A- just do the discussion boards and study for the tests- all off her notes. love her!
Angela is great! She is super friendly, makes the lectures interesting, and clearly is passionate about what she teaches. Said attendance was necessary at the beginning, but she never had us sign in. Do the discussion boards and study for the tests using the workbooks and her lectures and it's an easy A!
Feres has 10 discussion boards throughout the semester that are kinda a pain. She gives important vocab words that will be on the tests, but if you pay attention during her lectures, then you'll hear plenty of reoccurring information that's on tests. Also there is a workbook that she makes you do. Look on quizlet, almost all the answers are there!
I loved this class just because of Angela! She made the topic so much more interesting than I was expecting, and she really knows her stuff. She's the type of professor that makes a 2 hour and 40 minute lecture go by fast! Also, tests are easy, just go over the powerpoint slides.
TAKE HER ! TAKE HER! TAKE HER!
This is the best teacher. I loved this class sooooo much I am taking another class with her next semester !!!!! TAKE HER CLASS!!!
5 discussion board posts, 3 easy papers, 3 exams, & 1 final. Exams could be difficult but she gives you all the keywords to know the week before. You need to have 5 out of 12 discussion boards done for credit. you can do more if you did poorly on one but top 5 grades get accepted. Easy papers for a 300 class. studied one night 4 comprehensive final
Show up, do the homework, and study a bit for the tests and you will get a good grade. Very straight forward class.
Such a great woman/professor. Class meets twice a week in person & once online with a weekly discussion board(but there's really only like 7). She's so understanding & willing to work w/ you. Wasn't interested in the subject but she made it interesting. Very easy to do well in her class. Could prob get away w/o the textbook but wouldn't recommend.
3 required texts for the class but you can complete the mandatory blackboard writings without reading the entire chapter and just skimming. She makes powerpoints available online which are your main study materials, your grade is mostly based on papers and 4 50 question multiple choice tests, if you understand the 5 W's of each topic you pass easy
easier than most high school courses because she gives out 4-6 extra credits, each adds 10% on your regular test or final exam grade, (so pretty much your g) plus her tests are easy af. her lectures are kinda fun and shes is just the sweetest professor ive ever met
professor feres' class was my favorite of the semester. she makes jokes and changes deadlines or cancels some assignments. she lets you use a 3x5 card for midterms and finals. don't procrastinate on the workbook assignments and the discussion boards. she sometimes put tests online so you can use the book for it. sign in sheet for beginning weeks
Feres always there to help and easy to communicate with. Her class was ridiculously easy. Gives out extra credit that really helps your grade and exams are straight from lectures. Go to class and listen to what she says and you will be fine. Book is not completely necessary but helps with homework. Great class and EASY A. Would take again!
Really fun and interesting class and professor. She is really nice and helpful. Class is pretty easy overall. Gives you terms to study for tests and midterms. Have to do work from a workbook which helps if you buy the textbook and dont procrastinate. Don't need to go to class but it helps. There were about 6 DB's online .Would take her again!
Feres was by far my favorite professor! She made her lectures interesting and she actually cares and explains things in different ways. 4 tests and 2 midterms. This class is all about memorizing definitions & ideas. It does require some online discussion boards, but they are totally easy. Loved this class and Angela, you will learn so much!
The best teacher I've had. You can take this for an easy A course, but I do recommend actually listening and paying attention. There isn't a huge focus on testing, which actually allows you to learn some very interesting material. She was an amazing teacher and we all loved her. She cried on the last day when we all gave her a card. Must take!
She's probably the nicest teacher I've had at state. It was her first time teaching this class so she took the material from the previous professor and kept the same format. She might change it later on though. There were 3(or 4) tests, 3 papers about yourself, and 5 DBs. Got C's on the tests but A in the class. 10 extra credit points available.
I thought she was the sweetest, coolest professor I ever had. The tests are really easy if you look over her powerpoints. She's really nice and respects her students.
Feres is such a sweet lady and really wants her students to do well! She does assign readings from the Mohammad book but I didn't buy the textbook and was still able to get A's on the tests and on the discussion boards. Tests are based on vocab words she gives out during lectures so make sure to study those!! TA grades everything.
I LOVED Feres. I took the 2 and a half hour lecture but i liked going which is rare for me. She's an easy grader and tests are basically copied from lecture powerpoints. She's really funny and makes this class interesting and fun. I highly recommend her and this class.
Doctor Feres has been one of the best professors I have had here at SDSU. She is immensely passionate about what she teaches, which rubs off on her students and lectures. If you need to fulfill a GE requirement I recommend taking one of her classes. She is always there for the students. Amazing lectures. Clear and testable material. Take this class
Angela is an amazing professor! Not only is she absolutely hilarious, but she knows so much about religion and has a true passion for it. Her lectures are in depth and very eye opening. She is my favorite professor, and is extremely understanding . Angela allowed me to take a test late because I was not there at the time of the test.
This was hybrid class. Two days in class and then the third day is online. The online assignments are pretty easy. You have to do a workbook, which is easy and has most of the answers on tests. There are around 4-5 tests which are pretty easy. Professor Feres is a very nice teacher and will answer all of your questions. Easy A and interesting class
Pretty easy class with four tests and the final. She sends vocab terms before every test so if you just study those the tests are really easy. Weekly discussion board posts of 350 words. You need the workbook but not really the textbook.
I loved this class! Feres is so sweet and is an amazing professor. She's passionate about what she's teaching and the slides are easy to follow and she posts them online. There are just vocab quizzes, which are easy if you study for, and one paper that is easy. You're allowed a notecard on the midterm and final. Best professor I've had so far.
Loved her! She's an utter delight that cares genuinely for the course matter and her students. I always felt valued as a student and she would answer any questions that came. The class itself is ridiculously easy. Tests questions are taken directly from the workbook and there are ample opportunities for extra credit. TAKE HER you won't regret it.
Easy class, a lot of the lecture material doesn't make it onto the tests but is helpful. Some of the lectures felt rushed and content just felt unnecessary sometimes. Feres is a very nice woman though and she will help you. Gave out a few extra credit opportunities which helped. She does collect workbooks but I only had mine called once.
Feres is a super nice professor. You can tell she is very interested in the subject and cares for her students. She offers a lot of extra credit, lets class out early, and gives a list of terms to study before tests. There is one paper due at the end of semester which she grades kind of tough, but nothing too crazy.
Professor Feres is so sweet to her students. She is always so happy and kind every class. The class is easy just go to class or read the workbook. 4-5 tests, online discussions, and workbook all graded by TA. Barely used the textbook
Easy GE to take. She loves what she's teaching which makes the class more entertaining. The slides she posts online are pretty vague so going to class will definitely, though she will normally do a review the class before the tests.
Easy A. Just go to class, and you'll pass. 4 midterms, a cumulative final, and a 5-7 pages essay.
Professor Feres was super sweet and nice. She offers tons of extra credits throughout the semester. She always had review and vocab list before midterms and final. Questions were all pretty straight-forward. She also allowed note card for midterm and final. She's willing to help you if you visit her office hours.
Professor Feres is amazing. I loved taking Asian 101 with her. Tests are easy and you get to have a note card for your midterm/final. There is only one paper due toward the end of the semester, which you can pretty much write on anything related to the class. She is sweet, spunky, and an awesome professor.
The class was really easy. It was all tests, but the test questions were easy, and sometimes repeated. Other than the tests, there is one essay, which is not too bad as well. Also, she is super nice and responds to emails super quickly! Great class!
She is awesome! Super easy class, gives you a lot of help so you do well on the tests. DO the workbook and you'll be fine on the tests.
TAKE HER. Took her for 390A and it was a hybrid class. M/W classes and had some videos to watch on Fridays. Sometimes she let us take our tests online instead of having them in class to save time. She's a fun and well respected professor. Would definitely take another class/recommend her. DO IT. Easy A
Dr. Feres makes the class incredibly engaging and leaves you wanting to go to class every day. Easy A if you go to every class and take good notes.
She posts her lectures online but its best to show up cous who really has time to listen to a bunch of recorded lectures at the last minute. She is very sweet and is there for any questions. She is very understanding. Check your email before going to class in case she cancels which she will do at times. Exams aren't terrible with avg effort.
Feres is an awesome professor! She is clear about what is expected and she wants everyone to do well in her class. Her lectures can be a little boring, but they aren't mandatory and the textbook covers everything on the tests. Highly recommend this class!
EASIEST CLASS EVER. I showed up maybe 40% of the time and ended up with an A. Make sure you buy the workbook, all of the test questions are practically from there. Attendance isn't mandatory. Studying wasn't necessary either, just review the workbook and maybe her slides a little. Don't buy the textbook, just the workbook!!!
Angela is a real gem at SDSU. She genuinely wants everyone to do well and treats students like her own children. Tests aren't hard if you study the night before. I found the book and workbook to be helpful. Lectures aren't necessary, but she's hilarious so it's worth going!
Allows notecards on some tests, gives the terms you need to know for the tests, study those and you will be fine. Don't really need to go to class. Not too much homework
Angela is very passionate about religious studies and I was always interested in her lectures. This class was easy and Angela somehow bumped me up like 2.5% to a solid A. You get notecards on the tests and have a weekly online quiz. Easy A
I took her for ASIAN 101 and RELG101. Very easy tests and quizzes. She is very knowledgable and is passionate about what she does. Attendance is not mandatory, but many students still come to class because her lectures are entertaining. She cares about her students and always sends tons of reminders about upcoming tests/quizzes.
Best professor at SDSU. She is super sweet and kind. I encourage everyone who can to take her. You will definitely not regret it :)
She is literally the MOST NICEST professor at state! she's funny and tries to make class bearable.
Easy A. Theres 4 tests and the final is a paper that you basically have to just write to get an A. Canceled class a lot. Missing class wont affect you.
The class itself is low stress and the professor is so nice. Just read the book and fill out the work book and you should do fine. She offers extra credit throughout the semester and the final paper is very easy.
BEST and easiest teacher ever! Tests are directly from the workbook questions and a few straight off her powerpoints (posted on BB), class is never necessary besides the 4 test days, but her lectures are interesting if you like Asia just not necessary for the tests. no final, just a 1 page paper. Shes really helpful for anything as well!
AWESOME PROF! Her lectures teach a lot about her experience in religion, but not required for attendance or for test prep. Tests are straight out of the workbook and textbook. 5 tests, no final- 1 page essay on a topic of your choice. Easy A, def a great GE to take, ONLY IF YOU GET HER
Highly recommend taking Feres if you haven't cleared your humanity GE yet. Exams are fairly easy since she copies most of the questions from the workbook.
Best prof ever she is so kind and sweet and funny. I took this as a hybrid class but this class is so easy I rarely went to lectures after the first couple weeks since everything is posted online. Easy workbooks quizzes - use them to study for the tests and use quizlet and you can easily get an A.
Angela is a caring and kind woman. Her lectures were really interesting, yet they were not mandatory. Her tests questions come straight from the homework and quizzes. If you do the work you will get an A.
Straightforward history class. There were 5 tests (not cumulative and multiple choice). Studied for an hour before and got As every time. She has a sense of humor which kept me going to class. Attendance was not mandatory, nor necessary.
Angela has one of the easiest classes I have ever taken. Class is unnecessary to attend, she posts everything online, and doesn't ever take attendance. Book is unnecessary, but workbook is mandatory for a grade. Study for the tests and you'll get an easy A.
Very caring and fun, class was never boring. She covers extra material in class sometimes that makes it onto exams. She also occasionally gives out extra credit to people who come to class regularly. Not a difficult class. Do quizzes, reading & workbook and you should get an A.
Angela is a great professor and very sweet. The only thing that I did not like is that some of her tests were very specific, and there was one test that most people got C's or below on during this semester. I only missed a couple of classes, so it was frustrating. You need to study for the tests in order to do well.
Such a sweet lady. If you show her you care, she is more than willing to help. Tests started off really easy, then she caught people cheating so she made them really hard, but the last one was easy again. one quiz a week, the answers are straight out of the workbook. you also have to do the workbook once a week, but she only checks you once
SHE IS THE SWEETEST! VERY FUNNY AND CARING. The only thing is that her test were a little too specific. Do all the workbooks, study, SHOW UP TO CLASS, show you care and she'll bump your grade.
The prof is very nice and super chill. The tests for this class are surprisingly pretty hard. You should definitely study in advance because otherwise your screwed. This class was veryyyy easy to skip which is probably why it was hard for me.
This class ended up being harder than I thought, but Angela was more than willing to help. She seems to really care about her students. The first test was really easy, then the rest were really hard and specific. She bumped my grade a lot at the end though.
Great person with a wonderful personality. Tests are not too bad as long as you do the reading and take good notes. Lots of vocab to memorize per chapter. She'll sometimes give extra credit on random days to whoever attended class, so make sure to be there.
I love her so much! You have to work sometimes for the tests, however, theyre not always easy. I never went to class but watched the lectures and read and got an A so thats that.
There is a reason why Professor Feris has one has such long waiting lists. She is the best. Very knowledgeable and passionate. She is caring, but not a pushover. Easy A if you just do the work. Good luck in getting in her class...
Yeah, she is so good she has a loooooog waiting list. Dont give up. She will find a bigger classroom. LOL. She is probably the best Professor on campus. Passionate, caring, funny, and knowledgeable. Easy A if you do the work...
She is extremely responsive to email and makes herself very available. She does post audio recordings of her lectures so attendance is not mandatory to pass however there are workbook calls in class so if you want a good homework grade make sure to show up on the designated workbook call days. Tests aren't too difficult either. Overall a great prof
I did not find the material in the class to be easy and I did pretty poorly on all 5 tests. I did well on the quizzes/workbook checks and often went to her office hours and emailed her. She ended up bumping my B+ to an A- but I had friends who did not go to her office hours and their grade was not bumped so take the time to do that.
Angela is a very nice person! And some people take advantage of it. Please be respectful of her and her class, otherwise there there will be a consequence and everyone in class will suffer. She is a great professor and really cares about students! She will work with you to help you. Take her and be nice.
Angela is a queen. Her lectures are well thought out and interesting. She is very focused on making sure every student is open minded and willing to look at religion with an unbiased opinion. She is truly one of the most passionate professors at this school. Take her if you have the chance.
Angela was one of the best professors I've had at state. She was a great teacher and made religions interesting. However, on the tests, there are always some questions that I have never recalled hearing in class which usually screws everyone over but I did manage to get an A. You definitely need to study for this class but it's very manageable.
BEST. TEACHER. EVER. She is so personable, her class is entertaining, you learn the interesting side of world religion, she is not bias when teaching about the religions and tests are straight forward. 4 tests, workbook assignments, online quizzes. cool speaker comes; You can go to her class @ diff times despite enrollment:) Love you prof Feres!
Take this for GE. Books between $115-$200 and you need them for the class. Lecture heavy, tests hard if you dont study, so study hard. She's super nice and cancels class sometimes. No final. I would def take this class again.
It was a large class and I never really talked to her (heard her and her TA are accessible though) but she honestly seems like the coolest and nicest professor I've had at SDSU so far. The course is broken down to 5 tests, 1 online quiz a week, workbook checks about every 2 weeks, and a final essay. Lecture slides and videos online too
If everyone were to take Understanding Evil, the world would be healed and we would all be more loving, open and compassionate toward one another. Also Dr. Feres is an amazing person who I admire on so many levels. As for the coursework itself, it does require a lot of attention Weekly discussions, 2 papers and 4 exams but goodness it was worth it
Super nice and super caring professor. DONT BUY THE BOOK :) she based all her test questions off her lecture slides Memorize her slides and you'll get an A on each test. Weekly discussion posts, 1 movie report, 1 short podcast, 4 tests. Seems like a lot but you have a lot of time to complete them and they are really easy to do. BEST PROF!
Angela is honestly the best. As long as you go to her interesting lectures, take notes, and study you can easily get an A. I also recommend going to her office hours. She's really chill and might even curve your grade if you're not doing too well or are borderline. She made learning about religions interesting so I highly recommend!
Feres is an an approachable and kind person who makes the lectures fun and engaging. The class is very reliant on the tests and you do have to cram and read the textbook for those but a lot of the time she provided a study guide. Besides that there are easy weekly online quizzes and a workbook that is checked before every test.
Feres is so passionate about religion, she does a good job of teaching it. You don't really need the book, everything is on quizlet. Tests are every few weeks so it feels like you're constantly taking a test. If you take good notes and utilize the workbook/ quizlet, you'll be good. She cancels class like every other week.
Records lectures & posts Powerpoint slides online. Uses a new textbook bc its cheap & does not use a workbook anymore. 4 exams are straightforward 30-50?s & she gives study guides for some exams. Also gave 3 EC opportunities & no HW, just a few online quizzes + 4 exams & final essay. Get to know her bc she is so funny and nice!
Don't need to show up. Just listen to her mp4 and read over her slides. 4 tests throughout the semester (20% each), online quizzes worth 10% of your grade, and a final essay worth 10% of your grade.
Angela is phenomenal! The exams are very easy, the final is non-cumulative and quizzes are all online. Theres a paper due around the end of the semester that shouldnt be too confusing to do and she doesnt grade it harshly. Although she said EC is rare, there were about 3 EC opportunities. Overall Angela is amazing and you should take the class!!
Alternating weekly quizzes/discussion board questions. Some stuff can be found online, everything easy if you watch the video lectures. Repeated questions for midterm and final.
I've never given a professor a rate but Angela is honestly one of the BEST professors I had at State. She is so interesting and so passionate about what she teaches, making me WANT to go to lecture! Her tests are exactly what she teaches - never tricky. Angela responds to emails in like 0.2 seconds. She really cares and it was an amazing time!
I have never left a review for a professor in my life, but Angela has been the most amazing one I had to! Aside from her class being easy, her lectures are amazing and you want to show up. During this COVID-19 pandemic she has gone ABOVE & BEYOND to help us keep our grades up and provide hilarious lecture recordings.
Definitely take her because she really cares about her students and it's an easy A.
Professor Feres is such an awesome teacher! This is my first time rating a teacher because she deserves a really good rating! Professor Feres has shown that she loves teaching us and cares a lot about our grades! She makes lectures fun and our topics are really interesting! During this covid-19 pandemic she's been extremely helpful and accessible!
Angela is one of my greatest professors she has shown so much compassion for each of her students & shows passion and interest in her lectures. she makes her lectures fun & open for discussion. although she doesn't push for people to show up to class, its recommended so you understand the topic. participation and communication matters. shes great!!
The best professor I have ever had at SDSU. I have taken her twice and I'd do it again! She truly cares about her students and is very understanding of late work. Amazing lectures, but lots of reading. Weekly writing assignments but they're on interesting topics. LOVE HER!!!!!
Angela is a great professor! She really knows her stuff and makes lectures quite interesting. As long as you take notes and review before tests, you'll do just fine. I really enjoyed the class and learned a lot!
Most reviews must be from her in person class which claims her to be easy. But since all the classes are online in Fall 2020 she has made the test most impossible to complete. Precisely a 750 words response in a test along with 5 other 50-75 words question and 30 choice question all in 2 hour and 15 minutes. If youre average typist GOOD LUCK!!!
Death, Dying, and Afterlife is one of my favorite GE's this semester. The class is asynchronous, which is really convenient for some. She is really sweet and understanding if you just email her. All the readings and lectures are posted on Canvas, so the multiple choice quizzes and tests should be easy as long as you take notes.
Angela Feres seems to really care about her students. She sends so many emails a week about the upcoming work and about general events going on in the world. Like full on essay emails. It's actually really nice. The class is also great; weekly quiz+discussion and 5 exams. Nothing but praise for this professor and class. Could not recommend enough.
There are 350 words participation projects, in addition to 150 words replies to someone else's participation project, one of each per week, 14 times in total, in response to relevant prompts that are either based on personal analysis/opinion of the reading or reading/lecture check prompts. The finals are very easy. The content is very interesting.
I took her Death, Dying and the Afterlife class this fall and loved it! It was asynchronous which made it easy to do the homework whenever. Lots of people complained about the 350 word and 150 response discussion boards but they're really easy if you just watch the lecture. Quizzes and tests were multiple choice and pretty easy if you take notes.
Theres no need for the textbook, so save some money. There are lectures every week, but I did not watch any of them. Most answers are on quizlet, and you can easily look up some facts for the discussion boards. Did not get anything less than an A on diss boards and quizzes/midterms. There are essay questions on the midterms but just look it up
This class was super chill. She wants her students to be successful and it shows. I would take her again in a heartbeat. Most weeks had a lecture to watch and a discussion board or quiz, very straightforward and definitely doable. Highly recommend.
Professor Feres was not only hilarious but also extremely caring. I wish I had an in person class with her to connect with her more and experience her lectures in person. The material was extremely interesting and I feel like I came out of this class with a better understanding of death and religion.
Expect 1.5 hours of lecture, textbook readings (that are useless for assignments and tests) and a documentary for every single week. Discussion post and a quiz every week except on test weeks. It could easily take 3 hours to get through one lecture because she talks too fast to take notes from so expect a solid commitment
Fairly easy and interesting upper div GE. She tests you on what she teaches or readings. Some of the posts were a bit lengthy and the essay in the midterm was super long but she seemed to cut down the length a lot after that (I think people complained about not finishing). You should be able to get an A just fine if you do all the work.
Not at all the easy, fun, class on evil you'd expect from these reviews. Readings are 30+ pages in a single assignment. Online exams entail essay questions requiring upwards of 3 paragraphs to cover complex topics, multiple choice and ANOTHER short answer response! Can't believe I took this for fun?! DO NOT take unless required! You've been warned!
If youre taking this class for a GE like I did, it wasnt that bad. Its interesting material, but the homework can be a lot and tests arent the easiest. Still got an A, so all you have to do is put effort in and youre good. Its a lot of reading, but honestly you dont even have to do it. Shes a great professor too and her lectures are great.
Angela is incredibly nice and clearly cares about her students a lot. However, RELS101 as an online course was nothing but a drag to me. The lectures were DREADFUL, some modules posting 2.5 hours of her lecturing over PowerPoint slides. She spends just a minute or two on each slide, and there is always an incredible amount to write down.
Feres is a good person but Hum 411 is so much work. Every week there was an impossible amount of reading and the test questions are so random and pointless. I took it just for a GE and I completely regret it. Pick a different class.
TBH, I learned more in this course than any other course at SDSU. With that, be prepared! Pages.&pgs. of readings, disc. posts, and exams w/short ans. response. Feres gives PLENTY of time to take tests. As for discussions, put in effort & you'll get 100%. YES rdgs. need streamlining BIG TIME, but it's still a cool class with a passionate teacher :)
Super fun and interesting class, you can tell she really enjoys teaching this material. Your participation every week is just reading through the lectures she posts and doing a 350 word response along with a 150 word peer response. No live lectures, all prerecorded. Super easy class if you do those two things every week!
Dr. Feres is the most caring, genuine and kind professor I have ever taken. This class is the reason I'm considering Humanities as a major. Lectures are extremely interesting, informative and easy to follow. She does not rush. Tests are heavily lecture based but there's always free responses which is your chance to show you listened during lecture
I took HUM 411 as a 6-week summer class. Really easy to manage. The lectures were easy to follow, but were pretty long. The discussions, quizzes, and exams were all based on the lectures. Therefore, no need to read the readings! I would definitely recommend her to anyone trying to get very easy and quick credits over winter/summer break. TAKE HER!!
Took this as a summer course. She's very mindful about keeping the class manageable in the condensed summer format, unlike some other professors. All necessary readings are provided free & some aspects were pretty interesting. Easy A if you put in a basic amount of effort. Feres is super nice and accommodating.
Professor Feres was a literal dream. She is SO understanding, kind, and truly cares about her students. The tests and quizzes were a breeze if you watch her lectures. She is passionate about this topic and will help you with whatever you need. She responds to her emails ASAP and when I had issues with a test, she couldn't have been more helpful!!!
What can I say she's a great teacher and I have learned so much in her class! I took her online and if you watch the lectures, you will get an A. Super easy hardly any work. She also gives extra credit!
LOVED HER!!! 100% recommend her and would take her again. She is kind, caring, funny, and helpful. Even when teaching some of the dark topics that this class goes into, Professor Feres was able to keep us happy and remind us to go at our own pace because emotional health is important. She truly cares about her students and the subject she teaches.
Weekly participation projects that have a clear criteria of what to include to get full credit. Teacher reminds you to do assignments which was very thoughtful and appreciated. Tests were easy if you watched the posted lectures. Also the content was interesting. Would recommend.
I took this as a winter class for the lifelong learning and self development GE and it was so well structured and easy to pass. She communicated so well, I totally recommend doing this
The discussion posts were 500 words each week and got annoying after a while but doable. Exams are mostly on Quizlet. Other than that, the professor was a total gem. You can tell she loves her job and it made the class more enjoyable.
Professor Feres is SO nice. I've taken her for two classes now and love her. Quizzes are pretty easy and based on lecture material. She is always available if you need to talk or need help with the class. You can tell she is a great human and wants her students to succeed.
Heavy class, but very interesting material with a super caring professor. Everything was pre-recorded and all of the readings were linked. Quiz or discussion or both every week with three exams and a final project. Easy to get around with, but fun if you're looking for a good humanities ge. Gave me a nice balance with my other courses.
Professor Feres is one of the kindest teachers you'll ever meet! She is so enthusiastic and is so passionate about everything she discusses in class. Every week switched between participation discussions or online quizzes. All the tests were online and her lectures were very interesting. 100% recommend any class she does.
I'm not sure about those who gave Dr. Feres bad reviews, but she is AMAZING. I've had her for 3 different classes, and she is always so passionate and caring. The class is so easy. All you have to do is a 350-word discussion, then respond to a peer. Easy quizzes, only 3 midterms, and the final could be a video/podcast or paper. Take this class!
PLEASE TAKE HER, one of the few professors at SDSU that loves and knows what they're teaching, always super easy to get ahead in this class in order to focus on other classes. No time limits for quizzes to stress you out, a shining example at how professors should quiz you (most answers were on clear lectures).
Readings help for discussion but lectures help for tests. Most of the class was religious conceptions of evil and, if you're not careful, some of the readings can be very boring and/or a complete waste of time. Prof is very sweet but there's still a bit of work--it's not all serial killers and witches.
The professor's excitement about the topic showed in her lectures. Writing good notes and paying attention to what she says basically guarantees you will do well on the tests/quizzes. On the discussion boards make sure to cite and do a work cited because you get marked down if you don't.
Super nice teacher, grades are mostly based on quizzes but all the answers are in the PowerPoint slides.
This class is fully online, but this was one of my more difficult classes. So much time has to be taken to do well in this class, especially in regard to taking notes. There is no extra credit to make up for if you fall behind at any rate.
Definitely not the easiest A I've ever taken, but Feres clearly cares about her students and the material she teaches. Her enthusiasm is very sweet, even if her TAs can be a bit nitpicky about discussion grades (which are worth enough to matter). She gives your final project instructions way in advance and gives a lot of creative leeway.
Lots of discussions and quizzes, some of the exams have essay questions. I did not like this class because even when I thought I would do well on discussions, I would get B's - A-'s and there would not be a single submission comment for why. The TA's weren't good at all because they were so nitpicky w/o an explanation.
Angela is great and loves talking to students during her office hours. The discussion posts are graded unusually harsh and the TAs are so picky about what they are looking for. We are told to have good conversations in these posts, but no one gets a good grade on them. Other than that, there are weekly recorded lectures and quizzes. 5 exams total.
Ms. Feres made REL-S-258 very easy during winter break. I highly recommend taking it if you need the credits. She is super nice to include reminders at the beginning of each week for due dates. If you want an A, download all the lecture slides and command f. Textbook isn't necessary. Although death is depressing, it was an interesting class.
Overall great class with interesting topics, you can tell Feres is passionate about the course in her lectures. Quizzes and tests were fairly easy you just need to study the lectures/PowerPoints. Discussion posts are graded harshly with no feedback, so ensure you include information from all previous modules, not just one topic.
Most of the course is covered in the weekly lectures, readings are mainly just for extra reference. Usually a 10-15 question quiz one week, then a 350+ word discussion post and 150 word reply another week where you need to reference past lectures/material to get a 90+ score. Exams are pretty much extended quizzes based on the lecture. Good class.
Very interesting class for a GE. Lectures are really long and discussions take a lot of time. Tests are very straightforward. Grading on the discussions can be pretty nitpicky but besides that everything is pretty smooth.
Great class to take online, especially over summer. Grade consists of a total of six quizzes (to take whenever), four or five tests (not too difficult), and I believe five discussion posts (a few paragraphs each). All lectures have transcripts and the material is easily accessible, you do not need to buy anything. Feres is nice and accommodating.
If you need to fulfill your humanities requirement this is the class! The topics are very interesting and engaging. We have 4 tests in total, a few quizzes, and a final. Throughout the class, we have a few discussions but our grade comes mostly from the tests and quizzes. She makes class go by fast and the lectures are interesting.
Professor Feres is a lovely instructor! She's super kind and has a great taste in music. The topics and debates in the class are very intriguing and all her lectures are online; she does not take attendance but on rare occasions there are guest speakers who say things that will show up on the test. A few tests, quizzes, discussions and a final.
HUM411 and REL S 411 are the exact same class. Angela is so sweet and caring. All of her lectures are online and she does not take attendance. You could treat this as an online course. Tests are taken at home, answers to be found online. Would say this is a easy class but it's still kinda heavy, assignments to be done every week. Overall good.
What a class and the professor is amazing! I highly recommend it
Professor Feres is an amazing instructor and has an impeccable character. She is extremely passionate about her lectures and has a deep understanding of the nuances in religion. Definitely recommend taking her she will be your best friend.
She was a really good professor, her lectures can sometimes be very long. The class has weekly quizzes or discussion posts but overall really enjoyed taking this class.
Dr. Feres's class was pretty fun and easy. I will say, the only way to get A's on exams, is either by going to class and listening to her lectures and guest speakers, or watching the videos she has on canvas. She always makes her lectures funny and interesting. We always discuss very cool topics in this class! Very nice too!
super chill prof. i am taking the winter session course and as long as you do the work you will pass with an A. it's pretty easy and she is very kind. the only way you will fail is not doing the work
I can't understand how this professor gets great reviews. Lectures are painful. Tests are difficult; she states "shes not trying to trick you"- she is. She overwhelms you with long lecture/videos/readings & somehow your supposed to remember all of it! I feel like a good professor wouldnt have to do that. Sometimes less is more. Let us use notes!
Depending on the week, you get a discussion or test. Everything on tests are on her long hours of lecture and honestly some questions were a bit tricky but should be able to get a decent grade. Tests are timed so you cant go back and review. Readings that must be incorpated in discussions along with past modules to get full credit. No extra credit!
I took REL424 but it wouldn't let me put that. This class was ridiculously easy 10/10 recommend. There are quizzes every few weeks and tests every few months and they are super easy. There are also discussion posts every few weeks but those are also super easy too.
so lecture heavy with multiple videos that range from 40 minutes to an hour and a half long. There were two modules where she uploaded 3 different videos weekly each almost an hour long. Don't get me wrong the content can be interesting, but if you already have a busy major, this class just becomes a pain.
This is for RELS-424 I took this as an online class and it was easy. Discussion posts and quizzes every other week, everything on the quizzes and exams were on Quizlet so they were a breeze. I got away with just reading the section of the textbook that corresponds with the discussion question so I didn't have to watch her lecture videos
I loved the professor but it was so lecture heavy (1-2 hours worth) with endless reading to do as well that it was actually so overwhelming to keep up with! It was just too much and felt chaotic. The teacher was pretty nice with grading on discussions (which are also a heavy load) but you're mainly graded based on quizzes and tests. STUDY!!!
I took this class because people said it was an easy A. IT WAS NOT. You gotta put in the work. Understanding Evil is interesting though, don't get me wrong. She graded discussions fairly well, except when her TA started grading then it was whack. There's lots of content to this course and it feels more like a class that is more than 3 units tbh.
Dr Angela is so much fun! And has cats! I had a great time in this class and meeting new people online especially Liv. Take this Class with Dr Feres! It covers the Cultural Diversity and Humanities requirements! Yogurt! There is so much to learn from Dr Angela. Group discussions, typed assignments, quizzes, and fun! I wish we all met in person IRL
Professor Feres makes this class engaging with interesting topics and accessible online lectures. Using unstuckstudy along with the course resources made the workload manageable. Overall, a great humanities elective to consider.
Dr. Feres is amazing and cares about student success. Very interesting class. Assignments encourage critical thinking to recognize the complexity of topics. Most online courses are content heavy. Spread lectures and readings across the week and it's manageable. Study slides for quizzes & quizzes for exams. Hands down one of the best classes @ SDSU.
Dr. Feres is amazing and cares about student success. Very interesting class in which American history intersects with religion. Most online courses are content heavy, so spread lectures and readings across the week and it's manageable. Study slides for quizzes & quizzes for exams. Also took 411 & 424 with her; she's that good.
Ferres is truly the best professor I have had and I'm taking her again next semester. Such interesting content and presents in an easily digestible way. 1 lecture a week, usually 45 mins to an hour. 1 assignment a week alternating between quiz or discussion. Exam every few weeks but references past quiz questions. She is so kind and understanding.
Professor Feres is very nice and the class was relatively easy. Only one assignment each week: online quizzes, religious artifacts (400 words), and tests. I would definitely recommend for a GE.
Every week there were readings, lectures, and optional information. All information from readings and videos was on quizzes/exams. Work was discussion posts, quizzes, and exams. Exam questions were usually quiz questions + more, you get a lot of time. Professor was very kind and the class was straightforward. I took it to finish 2 GE requirements.
The class is super easy. 100% take it for GE. There is not that much writing involved when compared to other courses. there are mostly quizzes and 4 tests in total. sometimes, the test can be tricky, but you will be good. easy A
THE SWEETEST PROF EVER!! This class was on Yoga: Theory and Practice and it was so simple. I think the only thing that makes this class difficult is how complicated the topic of yoga is as a whole. You can tell she is clearly passionate about what she does and loves her students. Exams are T/F and she would make goodie bags for us after most tests!
Professor Feres is such an amazing character, she really cares about her students in the class wanting to succeed. There are weekly discussion post, quizzes, and 3 exams in this class. Extra credit is being offered. Her pre recorded lectures are very awesome to learn through the course of Christianity.
Professor Feres is kind, caring, and engaging with the class. I enjoyed taking her course and I recommend her!
Dr. Feres is amazing! Her lectures are very interesting and she really cares about making the material interesting. Some of the lectures are long, but they cover all of the material on the tests so there's no surprises. She is available to answer any questions and genuinely cares about her students and wants people to connect with the material.
Office Hrs: Doctor Feres is very sweet and caring! I even pulled her wagon car for her! It was heavy and even went uphill. I choose to do it. Her class 411 was amazing and I felt safer being with her and she gives out candy on halloween season if you're in costume! I was WALDO. Take her! You won't regret it. Panic!
Feres is super kind and respectable. You'll learn a lot of yoga in religious context. Workload consisted of weekly writing prompts, weekly quizzes, and an exam every few weeks. Workload is light and manageable. Easy A. Take her!
She is super nice! The class is fun too. It's like a combination of World Mythology (HUM 140) and Death, Dying, and Afterlife (REL S 258). I recommend those too, if you liked this class. Assignments in this class consist of tests, quizzes, discussion posts, and short papers where you discuss "recent evils." She also drops the lowest paper and post.
Very clear grading guidelines and plenty of assignments to get your grade up if you mess up at any point over the semester. All of the assignments are essentially the same, so it's easy to get into the flow of work and succeed in this class. Not a very time-consuming class to add on top of other coursework.
Good professor and easy class just so much reading. Boring unless youre interested in philosophy. I thought this class would be so interesting from the name "understanding evil" but it wasnt. A lot of long discussions and "papers" but they are not considered papers, just assignments. Id recommend doing the podcast version for these assignments.
Very easy class. One discussion board a week. She will assign long lectures and long readings, but you don't need to do either to get an A. Every 2-3 weeks, there will be an exam over a couple of chapters or a check your knowledge quiz. No point in paying for the book, I didn't do readings and was perfectly fine. Understanding and sweet professor.
Lectures were interesting, but I was expecting more on supernatural and human evils instead of a more religious focus. I found lectures to be long and overwhelming, and it is definitely a lot of work to pass. Everything you learn is very interesting though!
Class was easy. Workload wasn't too much if you don't procrastinate. Definitely take this class for a GE.
I recommend taking a course with Prof Feres. Work load was easily manageable and the layout of all the material in canvas was very clean and easy to follow. There were small quizzes, tests, discussion boards, done on canvas done on your own time.
Discussion posts and module quizzes were the main assignments per week. However there were incredibly long readings and very long lecture videos assigned as well. You can pass without them but it is excessive. The class and professor were okay but I would take a different route.
