Nice teacher, GREAT style... a little hard to undersand (accent. Classes are important to attend... HOMEWORK< HOMEWORK HOMEWORK!!!!! DO IT ALL AND DON"T SLACK OFF!!! she also seems a little harsh when teaching, very realistic.
Took Statistics with her (Math 140) she is hot, but she has a thick Armenian accent. Expect to hear such gems as "thoyty-five" (35) and "Einshtein" (Einstein). She is very responsive to the nonverbals generated by the class. She doesn't expect you to know every single detail, but she lets you use the calculator and formula sheet! AWESOME! TAKE HER!
great teacher
Knows her stuff, but can't explain. Accent is not too bad, but she can not teach. Very nice person, if you ask her question will answer, but then again if you don't understand material you wont know what questions to ask. Lots of homework!
The best you can ever have.
Very nice person, does everything for you to succeed in class. Lots of hw, but if you do the hw, you will do good in the class, and you will learn. Would recommend her.
Always late! Other than that, she is a good teacher. I hope I can take her again for upcoming classes.
TAKE HER! One of the best ones that I had.
dont take her for summer. she loads on the homework. there was about 3 sections a day. which were all like 1-65 odd on every one. that and she was always late. but besides that shes really nice and tries to help as much as she can. she dresses well
not a good teacher unless you know the subject take if not dont waste your time
Very good professor, lots of hw, but helpful for the quiz.
this class was a boring class to begin with, but i could not stay focused at all. she is quite a pushover basicly let a few of the students out talk her and take over the class. assigns more homework problems than nessicary
She is an amazing teacher. She explains everything really well. Warns you what is going to be on the tests as well as letting you know about upcoming quizzes.
She insisted on telling us she expected us to fail different quizes and that we needed to try to do our work as if we weren't already doing so. As well as she would criticize students in front of the entire classroom. Very unprofessional professor. I do not recommend taking her.
great teacher! super nice and friendly
Just finished a PAL math 058 class with her she is a great teacher. She doesn't mind answering questions and if she sees you are really giving effort she is all for helping you succeed. I got an A in her class. She does give tons of homework which is about the only bummer and she has an accent but still is crystal clear to understand. Very fun cla
She always seemed nervous and unsure of herself, but eager to help and answer questions after class. Congenial, friendly, plenty of examples on the board for each section, moderate workload. Thick Armenian(?) accent which may be distracting for some. One of the most physically attractive math teachers out there, no clue if that matters to you.
She is a really good Math teacher she wants to see all of her students pass the class she's willing to help if you need it on anything just do all of your homework and the quiz's and you will do fine on the tests
She is an awesome teacher.. works w/ you and your schedule. If she sees you trying and workig hard, she will make time and work with you.
She will explain everything you do not understood in your homework. If you do your home, visit TLC regularly, and do not absent in her class. then you can pass it. However, the extra bonus test will helps you a lot...
She was okay, gives loads of HW and has funny Arminian accent said slop instead of slope, she someonetimes explains things too much
Shes pretty cool, you just have to get used to her teaching and she has review days that help u for the test but lots of HW
She's an okay professor. I wasn't very fond of her teaching style because sometimes she would get annoyed if students would ask many questions. With some things she is clear and with others, not really. Aside from that, she gives lots of partial credit, which I liked. Just attend class regularly, do the HW, and work hard to pass.
I took both 060 during fall and then 070 during winter with Prof. Grigoryan. Math is not my best subject, but I got an A in both classes because she makes sure to explain things until you understand. She is also extremely nice and wants everyone to pass. She is very calm and quiet, not very engaging. Maybe avoid if you have trouble concentrating.
Very good teacher, and nice person.
Amazing...
hard to understand-makes problems alot harder & longer than they need to be.not helpful at all.took her b/c good reviews on here but she has very poor teaching skills.i asked her for help & didnt bother to ask what i needed help with & pushed me away to go to the tlc.take any other teacher. especally if ur not good at math, itll be hell going to c
Her tutors help more than she does
I didn't like the class. If you are a hard worker, take the class, if not, don't. Do your homework. & really study for the tests.
Great teacher; just do the work and you'll be fine.
Don't recommend taking her class, it's hard to understand her English . The professor is rude at times and tends not to be helpful at all when you ask for help . The assisted are very helpful at all times . They should be teaching the class instead of the professor .
Gives easier ways of solving and allows students to use the book's method or her suggested method.
Worst teacher. I would not recommend her. ALOT of HW and tests are hard so study. She always makes you feel dumb when you ask her questions just because your in a low math... Had a hard time with her. Hard to understand and wasn't helpful to students. bad experience I would recommend a different teacher.
I really enjoyed her class. Indeed does have a accent but easy to understand. I liked the way she taught the class and actually made me understand math and enjoy it now!
She doesn't really like to help girls boys get better treatment. Gives out lots of homework and her grading scale doesn't make sense. If she gives 100 problems to do, she only picks three to grade. And that's what your grade is based on. She usually try to find mistakes in your homework and gives a bad grade for that.
Okay so shes okay at teaching. Her program is easy. The tutors help more than she does. Word of advice, make friends with the tutors. She will check everything in your homework if you raise your hand so make sure the tutor checks it instead. Her grading sytem. WTF! just do your work and youll be fine.you literall work for an A;stop teaching at B
After 12 years of teaching simple algebra, they let her teach statistics and she does NOT know what she is doing. Everyone in the class was confused and didn't do well. She didn't even know how to do most of the problems herself let alone teach them. Be careful if you take stats with her!
It is a hard subject and different form other math classes. You really need to study hard out side of your class time. Do not rely on just a lecture. She is very patient and helpful. But if you do not preview you are going to get frustrated not due to her lecture skills but you're not prepared. Make sure to do every home work and test reviews.
This professor was pretty much useless in class. When she gave lectures they were not clear or easy to understand. If you asked her a question she would go on a rant and answer a completely different question. If you take this class be prepared to study mostly outside of class. The textbook is also not helpful.
I was afraid to take this class after reading bad reviews on here, but they turned out to be not true. She is very helpful. She does full lectures with examples, takes all questions students have from HW, explains, reviews, ect. It is a difficult class with a lot of HW but that is any college level math class. Test jams at TLC very helpful also.
Great teacher, if you show you are a hard worker, she will respect you and gladly help you. Super easy class but she really is there for you when you need help. The tutor is a lot more active with the students but if you ask the prof. to help she wont say no.
She is one of the best teachers I ever had for math. Very nice person.
I love her! She is the BEST math teacher at COC. She helps you and isn't judgmental of your situation or learning style or timing. I would suggest taking her for any math you need.
She's fair and willing to work with a slower paced class. We had a few students who really needed extra study time and she delayed tests for them. PAY ATTENTION to her pre-test review it's pretty much the test questions. Overall, great teacher. Thick accent but has no problem repeating herself or answering questions.
We had to learn all of the material ourselves online through OLI and we couldn't ask her questions because she often didn't know what we were talking about. Every week she would give a 5 minute talk about how hard this class would be and she would encourage students to drop. Overall, she is uninvolved and not concerned about students passing.
Her lectures/notes are easy to follow and she helps you to understand the basics before moving on to the next section. The day after HW she will go over any/all questions each student has till they understand the concept. She does expect you to go to TLC if you are continuing to have trouble with the problems, which every student should do.
Professor Grigoryan was very intelligent but was not the right professor for me and many others. She expects everyone to understand material quickly and doesn't always review everything in the chapters. She is not always clear in her lectures and tends to get lost. If math is not your best subject she is not the right professor for you.
Professor Grigoryan was by far the most helpful math professor I've ever encountered. Her lectures are crystal clear, don't be afraid to stop her if you're not understanding anything. She repeats herself several times a day "don't forget I'm here to help" and encourages students to go to TLC. Test questions are mostly taken from the pre-test.
Her problem solving skills are confusing. Best suggestion is to teach yourself or follow the computer systems way of teaching the course. Listening to her may only confuse you more.
I thought I would never pass a Math class but then I got an A from professor Grigoryan's class. She was really helpful. She's too patient when it comes to discussing lectures, and she's always willing to help students to understand the topics. If you got mistakes from the test, she'll go over those mistakes and help you solve it. Love her!
Professor Grigoryan is a very helpful Math professor. She's nice and patient to her students and she would always help you out. If you're having a problem in finishing a homework or worksheet, just go to her because she will help you solve them. I would definitely take her again!
Summer class so only 5 weeks. Tons of homework but keep in mind that it was 16 weeks worth compressed. About half way through the homework we invariably would get to something we had no idea how to do as it was not discussed at all during class. She told us to use the learning center and I would not have passed without it. Review sheets were great.
Just dropped her class today!, basically there is too much work to do and she said she will only grade 4 tests, so doing all this HW won't be counted towards my final grade, went to many tutors, but someone who has a learning disability like myself should not take her, hope this helps!
She explained everything well & was good about making sure you were understanding the material.
Teaches everything clearly very caring
Math is hardly anyone's strong point, and I wish more professors understood that and taught accordingly. No matter how much extra credit or homework (I always got 100% on my homework) you complete, if you do badly on the tests (which I did!), then there's no possibility of passing the class. She had a tendency to rush through too much as well
She was the best math professor/teacher I've had in so many years, including the majority of high school. Her lectures are great, she makes sure that the students are getting it, and she listens to feedback from the class. She always asks how the homework was and if it was too much/ not enough. Math has always been a struggle but I loved her class.
I took this class for math 070 and did not understand her at all. She required extra tutoring and homework was do able but heavily time consuming. If you are taking a full load or work as well she will most likely not be the best teacher for you.
Professor Grigoryan is nice and caring she is always willing to help students and teaches her lecture good. If you have any question you can always ask her a question or email her she is always there to help
Professor Grigorian is an great teacher and really cares about how the student does in her class. You have to work really hard towards the grade that you want but the only thing that I found was wrong with her class is that you had to take three finals in order to get the grade that you wanted regardless of the grades you received on the unit tests
She was an okay teacher. Her lectures started off disorganized, so we fell behind. But later on she fine tuned class and we caught up. She spends a lot of time answering homework questions at the beginning of class. She sometimes has trouble articulating her ideas. Not a bad teacher, but not fantastic either.
She did not teach well. When she explains a concept she makes it more complicated than it actually is. Also, there are sometimes questions on the test which we never learned in detail beforehand.
Barely passed the class tbh but it wasn't entirely prof's fault because I missed a lot of classes bc of vacation or whatever. Lots of homework!! Prof teaches somewhat okay but you have to go back home and relearn that material. Do HW bc it prepares u for exams. ASK q's if you're confused, don't be like me. Must have lots of time for this class
the notes given in class were barely helpful on tests. Exams were mostly the homework, but even then there were questions not taught or given previously??
Her lectures are pretty good and she posts them on Canvas. Homework takes forever and is an absolute pain though... she makes you buy WebAssign and homework is graded on accuracy rather than completion. We ended up really behind schedule and rushed the last few lessons, but overall she wasn't awful. The homework was honestly the worst part.
Good teacher. I struggled with the class but it was overall fine.
most amazing teacher i have ever had. She is a real good teacher i will definitely take her for calculus again. Very nice and caring lecturer and tests are very easy. pop quizzes sometimes, but the problems on are very basic
Grigoryan is really caring and is one of the best math teacher I have had so far (at COC). There is a decent amount of homework, but it is totally manageable. I would definitely take this class again.
Honestly the class was great. We had computers in the class so I played games most days.
Not bad at all, She is really organized and posts all her notes and homework reviews online for you to look at. You do have to pay $100 to access the online homework section, but it is really helpful because the questions come with videos that do similar problems. Tests are a major part of the class and there are about 8 or so pop quizzes.
I took Professor Grigoryan for College Algebra. Her notes were very clear, the hw wasn't difficult or too long, and her tests weren't hard, if you studied. She will also let you know when a quiz is coming up, so prepare for them. Overall, I personally didn't feel that the class was difficult, and I took it over winter.
She is a good teacher, but her tests and homework are so heavy and long, she doesn't give enough time to finish a test or a quiz, but she makes things very clear on class.
Her lectures are so short and lack explanations on a lot of things. Literally had two chapters crushed into 40 minute online lecture and used the free youtube videos of people explaining the concepts for a better understanding. She does all of 3 or 4 examples of each chapter problems and then drops a bomb on the test of stuff I havent seen before
Took her for the Spring semester during COVID-19. She told us that she felt sympathy for us, however did not change her expectations WHATSOEVER. Although the pandemic was not her fault, she handled the transition to an online format so terribly that many of my peers dropped and the ones who stayed failed the class after a stressful semester. Sad.
I knew Calc 1 was going to be difficult, but this professor made it WAY harder than it had to be. She never explained well and when people would ask questions she somehow left us all even more confused. My friends that previously took Calc 1 had to tutor me to get through the first exam. Everyone I knew in that class eventually dropped but one.
I took her class during the covid-19 pandemic. Her notes are pretty clear but her lectures are confusing and she leaves students uncertain even after answering their questions. If you are willing to teach yourself most of the material and spend time doing homework then youll be fine. Her grading isnt hard but defnitely requires studying.
I love Prof Grigoryan. She has really helped me to pass math, especially being a subject I hate. She is not the easiest professor, but if you work with her she is more than willing to accommodate you! Currently taking her Calc 1 course! :)
SHE SUCKS!! I took her for calc 1 and barely passed. shes really horrible at teaching and explaining things. she doesnt know how to teach and cant answer questions. and tests are way harder and longer than they need to be. during the online classes she would watch students take their tests on zoom and accuse students of cheating. DONT TAKE HER!!
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE :( if u want to pass calculus DO NOT TAKE HER. she cannot teach well and makes the tests way longer than they need to be. during the covid-19 pandemic she would watch students take their test on zoom and accused some of cheating without any evidence. DO NOT TAKE HER or else u will regret forever!!!!! :(
Records zoom Classes to help those who miss class. Easy to deal with. Respectful and caring. I strongly recommend her.
One of the best and most respectful professor I had. Makes you work hard for the grade. Explains the problems nicely. The homework is really helpful.
Tests are very difficult. She is nice but not very good at teaching. She crams all sections of a chapter into one lecture. It leaves you forgetting what you learned at the beginning of the lecture.
Ive previously tried to get in contact with the professor but she never got back to me. I took her during fall of Covid-19 and she isnt a good teacher. She gave us YouTube videos to learn from and made us buy an online subscription in order to access the hw. When students asked her questions she gave back confusing responses. Dont take this prof
I really like her, she is a great teacher. She gives lots of help outside of class and always answers questions. If you pay attention to her lectures, they are very helpful.
I would highly recommend Professor Grigoryan. She was fair with her expectations and communication. Fun class.
Do not take this class with her! She does not post homework assignments until the day or two days before they are due. Exams are 50% of your grade and the exams are not at all related to the study guide she makes. She will not reply to your emails in time and takes absolutely forever to grade assignments!
Professor Grigoryan is a very sweet lady. I really don't want to leave a bad review on her but the only thing I really dislike about her teaching is that her study guides dont look like the exams at all. Ive failed the first (& my last) 2 exams because I focused on all the material in the guides, and then found out that none of it were in there.
You better be ready to teach yourself most of the material. She is a tough grader and basically expects you to be a perfect student. Avoid taking a class with her.
Constantly changes syllabus last minutes, does not explain homework assignments clearly, says one thing and does another, takes along time to grade and shes micromanage. Goodbye luck!
She takes forever to respond back to emails, and isn't very understanding when it comes to giving out extra time to go over more test questions.
I put the tag "Hilarious" to show how much of a joke this class was. She forced all students to write notes her way, and if you did not you wouldn't receive credit. The notes did not even help with quizzes, as the highest score currently in our class out of 100 for quizzes is 60. I do not have enough characters to describe my gripes with Grigoryan.
Professor Grigoryan does not have an ounce of empathy. She does not consider anyones situation. Her test reviews and tests are different formats despite being on the same website. She makes you turn in notes that you have to complete from her recorded lectures. But she doesnt post the submissions until a day or few hours of the due date.
This professor is definitely the hardest math teacher I have ever had. She bases her class so it is self taught. She might have PRE-recorded lectures but it is hard to ask questions. Her tests are nothing like her study guides. The test grades are worth 50% of one's grade. Honestly, do yourself a favor and just find another teacher. She ain't it.
I won't lie, this class is not easy. It takes a lot of time and effort to pass, but I'm not sure what else you'd expect when taking a 5 credit class over the summer. I never did her test reviews, but instead made flashcards, re-did the worksheets, and re-did lecture note examples. I got an A on every test, so I highly recommend studying that way.
I was very skeptical to take this class considering the reviews that I saw on here however, I enjoyed taking it with Grigoryan. She is honestly a very caring professor if you reach out to her and she will help you if you need it. I took this course over summer and while it was difficult, it was a 5 credit class. Put in the work and you will pass!
This professor is amazing. If you already have the prerequisite knowledge for calculus, you will pass well. I think most students complaining here do not know Algebra or Precalculus yet. Attend class, ask questions, practice problems in worksheets, go to office hours and be responsible, you will get an A. Plus, don't cheat!!!!!!
DO NOT TAKE HER UNLESS YOU WANT TO FAIL. This class really does not involve any teaching. If you took calc in high school and did well, then sure you can take this, but if youre like me who needs to have a teacher thoroughly go through concepts, dont. This class is merely review, and shell belittle you for asking questions she deems as dumb.
Not the worst prof, but could be a lot better. Definitely assumes you already understand the material; shows the how, not the why. I studied a decent amount and have failed every test so far, and usually do well in math. She's kind and helpful, only 4 tests, and gives some (?) partial credit on online tests. Material is easy but I wouldn't take her
Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY FROM THIS LADY!!! Almost 3/4 of the class, including myself, had to drop from the class because she doesn't teach and just assumes you know everything. The class averages for tests were D's and F's and just like other students, I have never had a problem with math. COC needs to look into this cause it is not good.
Literally if you miss one class you miss 5 assignments. Even if you choose to take a day off from math youll end up far behind. This teacher is ridiculous. Not to mention she takes forever to reply even in serious situations. Failed my class due to her lack of attention to students reaching out during the final. Definitely dont recommend.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!! she never grades anything, does not respond to emails, is very rude to the students, and the exams are nothing like the reviews. do yourself a huge favor and find someone else.
Hehe, good luck.
Prof. Grigoryan is very hard, don't take her. She gives so much hw and notes that my tutor couldn't even keep up. The hw on webassign doesn't even tell you what you did wrong until you use up all your attempts. It's SO easy to bomb her tests. If you wanna spend 2 hours in one lecture per week only so she can tell you useless info, take this class.
took this professor fall 2022 and it was the hardest class i ever took. prob cus it was calc 1 but also because the class was a zoom meeting for 1 day out of the week and the tests were in person. Might as well take in person class if the test is going to be in person. She spends a lot of time talking about not important things in the zoom meeting.
Prof. Grigoryan is pretty tough but she does a great job explaining material and she is always available outside of class. I do not recommend taking this class if you do not have a solid algebra background already (she does not do any review of past material) and exams make up a large chunk of your grade( > 70%). Only the final can replace lowest.
Professor Grigoryan cares for her students. Her class is not easy but if you pay attention to lecture examples and in class worksheets, you will do just fine. I enjoyed the class and learned a lot.
Don't let anyone convince you she is a good professor. She is so incredibly rude to any students who didn't understand the material. We had review sessions fully ran by the TA. She openly admitted to the class that she has attended only 1 in the last several years. We had 4-chapter tests that were 60% of our grade. She sets you up for failure!
Professor Grigoryan is one of the best math instructors I have had. She cares about her students and wants you to succeed. The class was CALC 1 and she prints out all the notes for lectures so you just have to focus on understanding. The exams had no surprises and if you work hard you will do well. The study guide was similar to the test.
so terrible and cruel to any students who dont understand the material, will call you out in front of everyone and make y
This teacher uses pre recorded lessons as her main form of lecturing. She expects you to already know the material, and if you don't you need to teach yourself. I asked a question and instead of helping me she got up and said if you don't know this by now you should have a fresh start next semester. All I needed was a teacher to TEACH ME.
This class is tough, but if you put in the work - like using unstuck AI for study prep, doing practice problems, and going to office hours - you can succeed. The professor cares and will help if you reach out.
Hybrid class in fall so we had to preview lecture vids & take hw notes before class. Prof puts in effort explaining things she expects students to have questions on and she cares for students to succeed. Not an easy class since it's calc I but if you have a decent understanding of earlier math concepts, you can still do well if you put in the work
Nice professor, just gave a lot of difficult work that was not cohesive between notes, homework, classwork, and tests; which became way too hard to keep track of and work really built up in this class. This ultimately left the class average for exams to fall below 50, out of 100.
