Great teacher! So good at explaining the material.
Very easy math class. Get to take tests twice and homeworks three times. Doesn't take attendance but it helps to show up.
Class is so easy. Mostly has to do with the material but she's really nice about makeup tests and you can take homework quizzes up to 3 times and you have links to the exercise generator where the questions come from. She's really nice and does reviews all the time! No real need for the book though if you attend class or can get copies of the notes
She is a horrible teacher. She constantly makes mistakes and is very awkward in class. Outside of class she is rude and has no concern for her students. When I made an appointment with her to have extra help she said to study an hour every day and then sent me to ACE to get help with questions I had. I'd advise taking this course with another prof
Very easy class but I can see why people may complain about her. Sometimes she does not seem like she is that organized or came with a game plan to class. Nonetheless she is a good math teacher and really prepares you for the tests/quizzes as long as you do some reviewing or practice on your own.
Worst teacher I have ever had. My 5th grade math teacher knew more than her. She goes way too fast on the projector and is constantly making mistakes. It is impossible to copy everything down that she writes and she is extremely dim-witted. Take this class only if you want constant frustration and confusion.
She did a horrible job on lectures. He class was ridiculous and I found myself on google just to get the B. Trying to make appointments with her was impossible, or she would just redirect me to ACE. I'm glad it's over.
She was good at teaching, she helped me understand some concepts that I had always struggled with. She is not helpful withissues. I had trouble with the formatting on the 1st exam and did poorly. I was counting on the retake, on my way I got rearended. Nothing serious but I didnt get to the class til the end and she wouldn't let me take the retake.
She is actually the most horrible teacher I've ever had. I am NOT a math person, and I basically had to teach myself because she flies through way too quickly. She's also one of THOSE professors that doesn't care at all about whether or not you pass. She's extremely arrogant and makes students sound dumb when they ask questions. DO. NOT. TAKE. HER.
She is a horrible teacher and can easily be found rude mos of the time. My test have been graded very harshly, same with a lot of other students. It was the worst class in my middle school-high school year.
She can be extremely confusing
She messes up a lot, which is pretty annoying, but if you go to class and pay attention you will do great.
She's not necessarily a "bad teacher." She's average, but if math isn't your thing, you're basically screwed. She flies through the material. Also, the work load is HEAVY. My friend is in MAC1105 with a diff teacher and has 1 assignment a week. I have 4. However, 3 chances on the homework and a retake for the test.
I don't think Mrs Harris is a bad teacher. I'm good at math so i don't struggle, but If math isn't your thing you will find this hard because she goes really fast through the material, just like another MAC1105. also she gives out alot of HW, so If you put int he effort and go to all her review sessions you should get a good grade.
Ms. Harris does not teach, she expects you to come to class knowing how to solve the problems. She does problems very fast without explaining how she got to each step. You also have to show up to class on the dot or else you will miss attendance points.
She'll work right through you talking. The woman has to teach to a class of like 300 kids and she does a great job of addressing questions and going over easy stuff like review of fractions. She shows every step, but moves a little fast. The test are easy, just do your work. The required homework's are important!
Dr. Harris is super helpful with going over what she notices are students weak areas with math. She also starts talking about the final exam super early on so that she can warn us about whats to come. Shes a great professor and Im glad I had her. But you do have to take alot of time out to do practice problems on egrade. and make flashcards.
Ms. Harris moves entirely too quickly on the overhead leading her to often make mistakes. Students often had to point out to her that an error had been made before she herself noticed. The course material isn't that hard but her chronic mistakes made the learning process more difficult than it should have been.
I was surprised to come on here and see some of her poor reviews, she was really great! After failing two other math courses at FSU, Ms. Harris is the first teacher that actually taught clearly and the FIRST math class I've done well in. She has a great attitude. Not much is expected ya know just show up sit in the back and learn the material :)
She was very confusing and would often mess up due to the fact that she went so quickly. She also expected you to know exactly what you were doing prior to class. She was also mean to a couple of the students in front of everyone. She was better one on one, but honestly not a great tacher for such a big class.
Many people thought she went fast in class, but she really didn't. The material in this class is to the point so it's easy to go quickly. She gave good lectures and was very helpful. She does an amazing job trying to warn students of what is to come and prepare us for it. Overall she was great and I would take her again.
Ms. Harris is type that will fly through material and not understand why students cannot keep up. If you ask a question expect her to answer it indirectly or not at all. She often messes up several times throughout class, especially if she does not have her notes. Homework's problems are 100x harder than the problems in class. DO not take her!
This class was really easy. She was always really nice and willing to help. as long as you go to class, its an easy A.
Go to class or at least get your clicker points. Attendance isn't mandatory but it's worth it. I had an 88% for quizzes but with the extra credit clicker points it brought me up to a 101%. She teaches pretty fast since she has a lot of information to go through in little time but there are a lot of study groups.
She is a great math teacher. She messes up a few times and corrects herself but other than that she is great. Definitely would recommend her.

Even if you don't pay attention in class, you can learn everything from the notes you copy. She doesn't seem like she cares much. Every homework assignment missed is a percentage point off your final grade. Three homework assignments a week. Homework is helpful (though egrade sucks) so do it, it will help your grade. Study for every lab quiz & test
She teaches at a great pace if you go to class. the notes are harder to comprehend if you miss class. she is understanding and caring so you don't have to feel dumb asking a question in class
You get homework assignments every week (which you can do up to 3 times each to achieve the best grade possible) that help you prepare for the quiz the following week. She does very detailed notes and if you raise your hand and ask her to do it again or that you didn't understand she'll do the problem all over again for you.
She goes off of the papers you print off but does not explain much outside of the lecture notes, she goes at a fast pace and makes mistakes multiple times a class period because she never slows down. Nice lady but needs to revaluate her teaching method BIG TIME.
Great teacher, material was difficult but she explained things well. There are two homework assignments every week (3 tries each) and they really help bring up your quiz average. Go to class even if it's only for the iClicker! I had a high B average for the quizzes and a 77% attendance average and my quiz average went up to a high A.
I failed this class before and had to take it a second time, it's not hard I just had an 8am and did not like to wake up. This class is very easy if you go every day and take good notes. There are print out notes available that will be helpful. Since I took it before I knew there were simpler ways to solve problems. She makes it confusing.
Ms. Harris is absolutely amazing. She makes the material easy to understand with her endless examples and various forms of practice/homework attempts. I have always been terrible at math but she made this class enjoyable!
I have never enjoyed math at all. It has never come easy to me, but I went to every class and studied the notes religiously and went to tutoring every week and was able to make an A-. If you pay attention to the lectures and ask for help, you can do great in this class.
If you pay attention to the lectures and take good notes you should do well in the class. Math is not one of my strong suits but I am able to learn all the material required for the class. In some of her teachings she teaches more complicated ways to solve problems when there are easier solutions.
Mrs Harris is really clear in her explanations of math. She shows mastery of the material and is organize in her grading and assigning. She doesn't update her grades more than 3 times a semester though (at each test). Print out the outlines and you'll stay on top of things in class. Do the homework. they don't take long & she gives many tries.
Mrs. Harris is a good math professor overall. If you are not that great in math, I suggest you take another professor because she goes ultimately fast in her lectures. If you have no other choice, then I suggest you practice each lecture on Egrade, it'll help you understand the software and the objectives better.
Taking her again for MAC2233 next semester. Really not the greatest, and makes careless mistakes while working out problems. Two homework quizzes a week, plus weekly tests. Uses attendance as extra credit, so go to class! Always willing to help if you're struggling, but might not be the best choice if math isn't your strong suit.
I'm pretty average at math so I wasn't expecting this to be easy. But honestly if you do the work, study, and GO TO CLASS. This class will be an easy A. She is a good teacher, you need to take notes.
She goes extremely fast. She goes faster than fast. It is inhuman. Very scary. She does not play around. First day of class we learned an entire lecture outline and barely went over the syllabus. RIP your life if you take this class.
tbh college algebra is hard enough but she is actually kind of good at explaining things. not really the type of class to ask questions in, if you miss 2 classes you'll be lost forever.
Terrible. My advice to you is to go to an outside tutor. She explains concepts and problems in a difficult way to follow. Good luck on quizzes, she gives easy problems in the reviews/practices and saves all the hard stuff for the quizzes.
Really knowledgable and nice, lectures clearly but fast. Print out the outlines and take notes during class. The course itself is difficult, but she also offers out of class group sessions that are very helpful as well.
this class is very hard I will admit. she goes really really fast in class so be prepared to teach yourself a lot of the information. make friends in this class that you can study with because if not you are not going to do well. will need extra help outside of her class. if you are good at math this class is fine, put it a lot of work.
Extremely fast lectures and makes many mistakes in those lectures. Quizzes are very difficult and require hours of studying for each. Go to Skoolers before the exams because they show much easier ways to do some of the more difficult questions. It will save your grade in this class.
This teacher goes way too fast and makes tons of mistakes along the way! Do yourself a favor and don't take this class, or if you do, get a solid tutor to help you out because you're gonna need it unless you're amazing at math.
Class is just printed out notes and problems that you go through everyday, she does make lots of mistakes though. Theres a quiz every week and 3 tests along with a cumulative final. Quizzes are 10% of grade while test/final are 90% so there isn't much room for bad grades. Just study hard before the quizzes and go to tutoring and you should be good.

Got a 65 on the first test because I expected it to be the easiest (I didn't study), but once you realize this isn't a slack off class you'll do fine. Got a 90 and 95 on my next two exams and just took the final which wasn't that bad.
The one positive thing about Harris was the fact that she did Sunday night help sessions in ACE every Sunday night before Monday lab quizzes/tests. If she didn't offer these, my grade would have been much lower. She will help you with questions if you make a point to go up and ask her, but she makes the class way more difficult than it has to be.

MGF 1106 is an easy class overall but if you stop paying attention you will fall behind on the material and become very confused. Harris is nice.
MGF 1106 is stupidly hard. It sounds easy, but the math they teach requires a lot of abstract thinking and to ignore many of the rules of grammar. Also, she makes a lot of simple arithmetic mistakes during her lectures and a lot of problems on the homework and lab quizzes, she never went over in class.
Decent teacher, but beware this class is NOT a math class. I am not a math person and was told to take this class and it wasn't easy. It's all Logic, lots of memorization and decent amount of homework. Definitely be prepared to study a lot
There is a quiz every week, and she does not explain her questions well at all. This is not a math class!! It is not easy at all. Common sense has no place in this class and it is one of the most frustrating things. If you're just looking for an easy math to take to fulfill the requirement, look somewhere else.
Harris is okay. She moves really fast and sometimes makes careless mistakes. No homework. Only weekly quizzes and exams. Curves exams but will not drop any quizzes even if the avg is well below failing grade. iClicker for attendance/ex credit on quizzes. Hard material, I didn't use Skoolers but many people did. Taught myself most the year.
Content is super easy & I'm not a math person. Prof. Harris concerns me with how many careless mistakes she makes, though. Students oftentimes have to correct her. Also, did not drop 0s for HW, even though I was in the hospital with a serious illness & had documentation. That just seems weird to me, but oh well.
She is somewhat knowledgeable on the material but does not know how to manage a class. Half of the class time is spent on getting students to focus the material or re-explaining a concept because it was not explained well the first time around. Harris is not assertive or helpful at all. Take this class with someone else.
Out of all the Business Calc teachers here, she's your best bet of getting a passing grade. just GO TO SKOOLERS!!
The lectures have many kids, which means not many questions are being asked. She is very knowledgeable but goes very fast in her lectures. Highly suggest getting a tutor for this course. Grading scale: 90% exams, 10% quizzes. There are 3 exams.
MGF 1106 was not easy or what I expected but I appreciate and respect Ms. Harris very much as a professor and person. She is very nice, caring, and wants you to succeed. Make sure you study and do the exercise generators on the course's website. She obviously cares a lot as she would go out of her way to have help sessions every Sunday night!
Took this class during the summer session (only 6 weeks) and covered over 100 pages of notes in that time span. Easiest class Ive ever taken. She goes really fast but if you pay attention, ask questions, do the hws, and study- youll be fine. The quizzes and tests were just like the hw. If ur expecting it to be algebra based- its not. Its logic.
Harris is caring so that is a plus but besides that please do yourself a favor and choose another professor. she is strongly horrible for her career.
Honestly, my 8th grade math teacher did a better job. I had to teach myself everything throughout the whole semester. Makes mistakes in lecture that students correct. Goes way to fast through the lecture and leaves students with a bunch of questions. PICK A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR!
Please do yourself a favor and GET OUT of this class. Algebra should not be this hard, and I am not even bad at math. She goes extremely fast over the material and there is MAD homework, 35-40 questions, 3 times a week, and they are mandatory, if you miss more than 3 it takes a whole percent out of your grade for each you miss. Test weigh 90%
schoolerz is set up with Valdez which makes this course much harder as its on a more accelerated pace through the beginning of the semester. all lab quizzes are on Monday for her which sucks compared to Valdez on Wednesday.
She moves at a fast pace, but offers help sessions and office hours every week. If you put in the effort to do the homework and get help when you need it you should pass the class easily. In her help sessions she makes sure you know what you're doing instead of just solving it in front of you.
I wouldn't have gotten an A in this class without Skoolers. Professor Harris is relatively understanding and tries to help as much as she can, but the course is fast-paced. You definitely have to put in work to get a good grade but if you do you will be fine. From what my friends with other professors have told me, Harris is one of the easiest.
Lectures are fast-paced & confusing. She makes mistakes every lecture. Problems on the tests will not always be taught in lecture. Utilize MyMathLab & be prepared to teach yourself. Make sure your Algebra skills are good before taking this class or you will struggle.I did better once the class shifted online bc of online lectures I could watch back
She's really nice but she's not the best with technology. If you want her to answer a question it's better to talk with her rather than email because she can be blunt.
Very mediocre at best. Maybe the transition online was rough, but from what I experienced she did not teach me at all. I learned from videos that were uploaded that she did not even create. Luckily math is my best subject, but for anyone who struggles in math, I would not recommend Angela Harris.
There were no true lectures, but homework videos we had to watch and copy down in a lecture notebook about the lesson. Then, by the end of the week, you have to do a quiz. Besides that, we had a group quiz once per week to take during our lab time. Mrs. Harris grades easily and the material is easy.
As long as you do the study plan, you'll be fine. Attendance to the lectures wasn't mandatory, and she was never at the live labs. I interacted with her only once, and that was via email because of a glitch with the testing software. The entire class was watching videos, taking notes on them that have to be submitted, and taking quizzes.
Entire class is watching short Pearson videos. Have to print out a 70+ page document to take notes on. Class meetings on Zoom are just doing a quiz together in a breakout room. Doesn't take very long but you're not supposed to finish early. Easy class overall, just boring with lots of work. Three quizzes each week as well.
Professor Harris is really friendly and caring. If you work hard in her class, she will do what she can to help you. I am not great at math and definitely didn't excel, but she is a fair grader and the workload is intended to help you.
Honestly a terrible class, online. No material other than useless quick videos and MyMathLab. As someone with only a pre-calc background from high school, I knew nothing heading in. The only real material given is MyMathLab, which only has problems and didnt teach anything. If you can, wait to take this class in person. Super boring and difficult.
Very inactive as a professor. TAs do all of the work. All teaching is done through short videos and test problems are not similar to quiz or homework problems. Doesnt have a working email.
Be ready to teach yourself, even with a calc background I still struggled through her confusing/disorganized lectures. Teaches in a flipped classroom setting and rushes through everything with little opportunity to ask questions. Sadly she was the only option this semester. Absolutely terrible professor, just be prepared to teach yourself. Also the workload that is given, at least during summer, is completely ridiculous. If you have a job or any kind of social life say goodbye to it as you will have at least 5 assignments due per day mon-fri.
Very very strict with deadlines, not sympathetic to any sort of excuse and is not helpful with test or quiz review material. Lots of work and no extra credit available.
Ms. Harris seems like a really nice person, but she is one of the worst professors I've encountered in college. To start, she does not teach this class. You are responsible for learning the subject matter through MyMathLab videos, which is incredibly frustrating. She is difficult to reach, and makes a relatively easy course unnecessarily confusing.
She seems to be pretty nice, but oh my gosh this class is killing me slowly. No teaching is done, and the TA's call on random people to work problems out instead of just teaching. It's tedious and incredibly unorganized. Simple concepts are explored to an extreme. The only reason I passed is because of previous actual good teachers. Don't take!
Absolutely. God. Awful. Do not take this class if you are not good at math or if you don't want to teach yourself everything. However, if your mental stability is unimportant to you, go for it.
Be prepared to learn everything by yourself. Professor Harris does borderline nothing to help you learn. She is difficult to contact and is very unforgiving with missing assignments or late work
If you are required to take MAC1105, do NOT take it with this professor. Harris is one of the worst professors at FSU. She assigns 4 homeworks per week, an online quiz each Tuesday, and a quiz/test every Monday. If you do not study for the quizzes/tests, you will fail. She does not teach nor does she create the video lectures. TAs teach class.

Im having a hard time struggling to say anything good for this class. If youre confident in learning math alone with barely any help then this would be the perfect one. She does little to nothing, TAs run the class. A lot of homework as well as quizzes. I would highly recommend a different professor if you want to actually learn.
If you must take MAC1105, please choose anyone but Harris. You pretty much will be teaching yourself. There is no live class, just optional extra help, so the only way you "learn" is by watching videos that aren't even hers. There are multiple homework assignments due every week, usually at least 5, and a quiz every week. Take anyone else but her.
I could tell you that Harris is a bad professor and complain, but here's the bottom line you need to work hard for this class. If you can get past the fact that she is not going to be teaching you and put the time in on my math lab practice problems and practice quizzes you can get an A. Don't let the bad reviews scare you, just be willing to work.
in my opinion most of the negativity towards her is because of things out of her control. The work is pretty heavy but its not hard and is only intended to help you, quizzes and tests are worth a lot but if you study you will do fine.
There was very little actual instruction from her, but I think that's because the videos from Pearson are specific. If you actually watch them, take the notes, and really complete the study plan you shouldn't have a problem. You can't sleep your way through the class and get an A, but if you try you'll be golden.
She is the worst professor I've ever had. Does not teach, purely leaves you to your own devices. I'm not even sure what qualifies her to be in this position. If you teach yourself, watch the videos, study for hours, you'll do good in this class, but for the average person, she is terrible. Don't take her.
This class is by far the absolute worst math class that i've ever taken. I've never been bad at math but she does not do any teaching in the slightest and is unforgiving with late or missing work. Normally its pretty easy to teach myself but the short videos she assigns do little to nothing for anyone i know in the class. Don't take her class.
Barely teaches. You have to use the lecture outline. You have to work for it yourself but you can pass if you do.
As a professor, I wouldn't recommend Harris, but she's the only one that teaches MGF1106 and MGF1107. Bite the bullet and take those two classes. She doesn't teach you, you just take brief notes on brief videos. Easy content but the work is tedious. Only memorable part was when the Zoom got raided the first day of classes.
If you do all the work and try you can easily get an A. What effort you put in is what you get out. If you dont study you wont do well. You dont really interact with Harris at all. All tests and quizzes are proctored by TAs.

Ms. Harris was a very nice professor who offered to work with you if you needed an extension on assignments, however you did have to have a very good reason for an extension. Towards the end of the semester, attendance became optional. There is a lot of outside homework for the class, so definitely be good at time management!
Professor came around at the end and is understanding, but does not teach, so you will be relying on your classmates and TAs/LAs.
Professor Harris gives you all the information you need to pass. This class is really just about how much you study. The TAs are much more helpful than Professor Harris though. Definitely study the homeworks!
Ms. Harris does nothing to teach this class. Be prepared to learn all the material yourself if you want to do even remotely well in this course. Classes literally consist of sitting in breakout rooms while no one talks. Tests are only manageable if you memorize the formating from the study plans and reviews.
If you can, at all costs, do not take classes with A. Harris. All her TAs and LAs teach the class. She does nothing. Everything is due at 7PM and 4 days a week. Quizzes happen at 7am and she hates students emailing her for help (literally requests that you dont in her syllabus). AVOID BY ALL MEANS NECESSARY.
So many assignments. A class that doesnt even meet in person yet there is two homework assignments due 4 times a week (8 assignments a week). Organization skills are TRASH . doesnt make any assignments on canvas so everythings under modules. Suggests we spent 12-20 hours a week on her work, and requests we dont email her. Easy Apart time job.
Absolutely the worst teacher I've ever had at FSU. She expects 10-15 hours alone dedicated to this class per week. All "lectures" are videos of other people talking that barely explain the material. Very disrespectful towards students and doesn't seem to care at all. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!
online class with 1 meeting a week but 3+ homework/tests/quizzes every week. only provides u with mymathlab to study for the quizzes and expects u to study 15+ hours a week for the tests/quizzes only on mml. not really willing to help/explain content. i had to teach myself most of the content its ridiculous.
If you aren’t good at teaching yourself then I would not recommend taking this class. There is tons of homework and you have to watch videos to teach yourself everything. Harris doesn’t teach anything and isn’t really helpful.
In order to pass with an A, you need to do all the questions on the study plan from Pearson and work with your group for the live labs. The study plan has the same questions as the quizzes and exams.
I barely had any interaction with Prof Harris this semester, and even the TA's take a while to respond. SO much work, but you get the hang of it as the semester goes on. The concepts in this class aren't super hard, but you will be teaching yourself the content. Don't take this class if you aren't prepared to devote at least 8 hours a week MINIMUM.
this is a great class to take for someone who likes math. Most of the class is self-taught and the work is done outside of class. You spend most of the time in breakout rooms doing assignments with your group in class. There is a ton of assignments, but most of them are a cakewalk and can be done in less than 20 minutes.
This professor and the TAs NEVER respond to emails, and grade based on a very specific useless rubric, especially for tests. Almost every single assignment is busywork, expect 6-10 assignments and 8-12 hours per week on this class alone. Very little assistance is given, questions go unanswered, avoid taking any classes with this professor.
Lots of work every week, usually two quizzes, a learning guide, and study guide, and a zoom class. She didn't teach anything and during class, the TA's were not helpful and didn't know what they were talking about. If you good to learn math on your own take this course, if you struggle and will need help save yourself and take something else.
This is a tough class and I don't recommend taking it if you don't have to. There are a lot of quizzes and exams and she is unclear about what is expected of assignments, it is very confusing. The LA's are helpful so I would go to them if need help. Overall the material is not too hard but the class is still very demanding.
We have to watch videos outside of class and practice homework outside of class, but the time we meet in class we are working in groups and Ms. Harris will help if there are any auestions in your group. She helped me in meeting with me outside of class time so I could better understand the things I didn't understand.
Attendance is not mandatory and I have managed to skate by with a good grade because of online lecture videos and Pearson practice which formats the questions exactly like the homework. You can get extra credit points on your live labs by participating in class. 3 Units. Each unit is for 2 weeks. Roughly 16 assignments per unit. Work load is doable
I did not do well on the first test but after that I did more of the practicing which helped a lot and the other two tests went well. Professor Harris helps if you have questions and ask for help in class or outside of class and the LAs and the TAs have a lot of help sessions available.
I don't like math but Ms. Harris explains things clearly and I asked questions in class sometimes and she helps answer what I didn't understand. You have to do a lot of practice outside of class and go to her office hours.
I had to study a lot for this class and it is not like high school math but it is different like probabilities and testing if arguments make sense. if you put in the work you can get an A.
Great teacher! you can skip class and watch videos instead but they are confusing so coming to class is what helped me pass. Professor Harris will help you if you ask questions during lecture and when the group is working together. You can get help on most of the graded assignments besides the Test.
This class is challenging but managed to pass because I went to class every time. There is a lot of work outside of class time. In class Mrs. Harris was really helpful with explanations, but the videos outside of class were not as helpful. The Homework practice was pretty much identical to the Tests, so working on that is what helped me pass.

Lectures are immensely boring. We learn nothing in class as she's bad at explaining stuff and the labs are so complicated even the TAs are confused about the procedures. The material look super confusing and this is supposed to be a math class for liberal art majors.
She was nice as a professor, but it was way too much work for someone who has a life. The only way to stay on top of work is by doing it during class, but that makes it impossible to learn the next thing. Also I challenge you to go to one of her lectures and not be tempted by the sweet release of sleep.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Lots of work, lots of different kinds of work. If there is such thing as a straightforward class/grading syllabus then this class is the exact opposite to that. My roommate is taking calculus 2 and I spend much more time on my class than she does (not on studying the material, but doing hw) and it is saying something.
I don't understand the harsh reviews here, although Professor Harris is not the most engaging person alive, she is a solid teacher. All of the homework was unlimited attempts, the poster presentations were easy, live labs were collaborative and all tests/quizzes were online AND open note. She gives good example questions in class too.

I might has well have not even gone because I learned the same amount. She teaches like she's making it up off the top of her head because the examples are all over the place and she breezes past students' questions. She also relies on her LAs to do literally everything.
I took MGF 1106 with this professor and my experience was awful. If you want to get a core required math class out of the way, this is a great class to take; however, the way that she formats the class is very disorganized, and the work was often overbearing. Be ready to put in more work than you would usually have to for a gen-ed.
Weekly quizzes are a huge part of your grade. She lectures very quickly and it will be very easy to fall behind if you don't have prior knowledge of the subject. Attendance is mandatory and counts toward your grade. Overall not too difficult but if you don't go to class you will be very lost

She is not a super engaging professor but she is a very good teacher. She explains the concepts very well and posts a video of the lectures for each class.
she gets many things wrong during class lectures and students often have to catch her on her mistakes. There is a ton of homework to do and she grades your attendance. Additionally I she took 15 points off my final because she said I didn't sign up for the final exam but I had proof that I did and it was just a glitch in the website.

Overall I worked hard in this class and Ms. Harris was a great instructor Her lectures are really helpful and she asks if anyone has questions and helps out if you ask for more details during clas. There's a lot of HW on the Aleks. Def go to ProfHarris' office hours and you can get extra help. also the TAs have office hours when you need help.
This is the best math class aand a great teacher. You will have to work hard and get to know Ms. Harris and she is a nice and caring person. She helped me so much when I didn't understand during class time and she also helped me when I had a personal interruption to the class with something that was out of my control

Class wasn't too difficult. Lectures weren't bad just very boring and slow. Often was challenging to stay engaged in class and often ended up teaching myself online.
I think Prof. Harris teaches MGF1106 well, compared to her other courses (as seen from other students). Lots of Pearson HW, but it helps you learn the material. Only 2 exams, HW with unlimited attempts, Review Quizzes with 2 attempts, and a lab portion (which is very straightforward). I'd recommend for this course. The TAs are great and responsive.
The lectures are very long and very boring. She uses TopHat to take attendance and uses it as a grade, as well as in-class participation questions. You'll end up teaching yourself a lot of the material because she often doesn't know what she is doing. Do your homework and reviews because they directly reflect the lab quizzes and tests.
One of the easier math classes I have taken. Professor Harris was very helpful and explained the problems thoroughly. Gave lots of homework. She gave us two lessons of homework with 40 questions each. It took a long time and a lot of effort. The tests were open note. Overall a pretty good teacher.

If you go to class, you will answer questions thru learning catalytics & she will put them as extra credit at the end of the year. As long as u practice u will do good
This class is the reason i cannot sleep at night. No curves or leeway and information is presented in a way that has no correlation with assessments. Everyone i know has a terrible grade and puts in hours, including myself. So frustrating!!!
After seeing the reviews, I was TERRIFIED to take this class. Its not bad. She makes an absurd amount of mistakes. The work itself is easy. Students commonly ask obvious questions that they would know if they had paid attention. Attendance is a huge extra credit credit! The weekly lab quizzes are never overly difficult. Overall, she's average.
It's honestly not a bad class. Lots of homework every week, but not bad if you manage your time well. Ms. Harris is a fine instructor, it's just a tough class. Focus on studying the practice quizzes and tests before each and you will do fine in this class.
She is a horrible teacher and does not explain anything at all. She literally just gives you the answers. Most of your grade is the weekly exams and quizzes that are extremely difficult and are not curved.

The LAs and TAs were very responsive and helped a lot throughout the semester. Overall easy course need to do 6 presentations in a semester that are fairly easy. Class content is easy itself has 1-2 homeworks a week that are unlimited tries. Tests and Quizzes are reflective of the homework and are open note and not too difficult. Has a lot of LA's who are very helpful and easy to reach. Easy class to get math credit.
lots of homework so theres ways to get your grade up. lectures are long and boring but if you listen hard enough it will make some sense to you. have to go to labs to work with a partner for points making the 'poster' but it is not that hard

Avoid. I've taken her twice, and the constant homework on external sites, only accuracy based grading on what is essentially busywork, USELESS labs, and material that you will have to teach yourself after sitting through a painful lecture where she doesn't know how to work any of the technology is not worth it.
Can't teach or lecture well. Doesn't know how to explain topics. She is irritating and slightly annoying. Overall, it is not an impossible class, just a highly unenjoyable one. It's advertised as the easiest math, but with her teaching skills, it's not.

The class itself is easy, but the lectures were annoying since you were graded on participation in Tophat. It is possible to get an A even while missing some participation points, as long as you try in the labs. The LAs were not super helpful during labs, but would try to point me in the right direction.
Class was not difficult at all but it does require a lot of self-teaching. A couple homework assignments and a quiz each week but they're online. 3 major unit tests that are also online. Possibly the easiest, most basic math class on campus just expect to devote a couple hours each week if u want an A
Top hat was introduced this semester she barely could work it and for entering grades it was slow and confusing. I never really learned anything from the lectures; everything I learned from this class was from the homework. Every time I would ask her a question she would give me an unclear answer or tell me to ask the LAs.
Professor Harris was not the best at teaching, but her class was an easy A. She uses Top Hat so attendance is mandatory and you have to answer questions online during class. Her lectures were very boring and she doesn't know how to use Top Hat or technology, her LAs took turns teaching the class which was super annoying.
She was not very tech savvy which made her lectures a little hard to adjust to just because of all the tech problems. A lot of homework but she offered a lot of extra credit points. Just show up and put in the work and you'll get an A. She also has a lot of TAs that are willing to help you.

Class is pretty easy but it could be improved- there's a lot of parts of it that are more difficult than they need to be (ie discussion board signups, lecture style). Mainly came here to warn students with OAS accommodations that she will always require documentation, so if you have a chronic illness and can't see your doctor often don't take this
This was my first math class at FSU and I was wary of Ms. Harris' ratings but fell in love with her. Material is extremely easy and simple to pick up on. She is SO kind and understanding and will go out of her way to help you no matter the situation. I would take her class 1000 times over!
After taking two of her courses I can confidently say Ms. Harris simply does not care about the wellbeing of her students. When I opened up to her about some personal family issues I had been dealing with her response was rude and insensitive. She uses TopHat for lectures, but often times does not know how to efficiently use the website. Terrible!
I really enjoyed Ms. Harris. She wasn't too techsavvy and used TopHat in 1106 AND 1107. She is kind and incredibly understanding! Receptive to emails and will help with pretty much anything. Very simple material, so lecture can be boring, but you can get everything you need from Aleks. Weekly lab only mandatory to make homework-based poster 6x.

Everything is graded on accuracy. pre lecture, homework, every single thing. Plus you don't even get all the extra credit you participate in. She is so boring and doesn't teach well.
This professor and TA's are gutwrenching. She rambles on n on but you leave knowing about as much as you came in knowing. The only thing that helped me on this class is the Unit Reviews as they are close to the tests. The projects however are so dumb but are very heavy. Don't ask the TA's for help though because they will give you the wrong answer.

Professor Harris is a lovely lady but not the greatest professor. She uses Tophat for her class and she has no idea how to use it. Kind of incompetent. Her TAs do most of the work. There were tons of incorrect questions on her HW. I would double check the answer with AI because you cant trust the program. Please save yourself and don't take her.

Angela Harris was very disorganized, and although the class was easy, she gives multiple types of homework on gradescope, canvas and tophat, and also makes you answer both on paper and tophat questions during her lecture, making lectures difficult to follow for an intro level class. You can use notes on the tests though, which are super easy.
It's true that she isn't the best with technology and TopHat was a bit of a nightmare, but the homework and (3) tests for MGF1130 are honestly really easy--there wasn't even a final. As long as you remember to do the homework, because most of it is not listed on Canvas. Professor Harris was kind and informative in my few interactions with her.
I think she teaches well, but if you want to pass you NEED to study. You can't just show up and get an A. Not much to say other than I think she's fair, considering how many students she has. Lots of EC opportunities and review activities. She gives you the opportunity to succeed, but you need to take accountability.

Do not take this teacher unless you want a crazy amount of stress and confusion. You need to teach your self most units, and her attendance every class is 10-14 questions. She barely explains topics and makes the class 1 million times harder then it needs to be.

Her lectures can be very boring at times, but it's very hard for me to give her anything less than a four simply because her class is designed for you to get an A. All of her exams have a 3-question buffer, and half the material is easy enough for a freshman in high school to do. If you put in the bare minimum, you have no reason to not get an A.
Please save yourself. I've taken two mandatory classes with her and loathed every minute. She explains nothing and rushes through everything. I taught myself the entire semester. She basically lectures for an unholy amount of time and then disappears till the next class. Do not take her. Please. I'm begging. Your future selves will thank you.

Lectures are a little boring but she knows what she's talking about and how can you make calculus interesting. Tests are easy if you prepare by taking the practice tests a few times before hand. She goes at a good pace during lectures and will stop to explain if you ask her to.

I had HS calc knowledge so I might be biased but the only incompetent person wasn't Harris, but the TAs......... no idea how or why they were hired
The class wasn't bad at all. The quizzes and assignments are doable even with AI. The tests were exactly stuff learned so there weren't any surprises. Harris was somewhat rude sometimes but can make exceptions for students who are already doing well in her class.
If you think just coming to class is sufficient for this course you're in for a rude awakening - if the TAs didn't give you one already. She's completely isolated from teaching or engaging with the students. Her PPT lectures are like English courses, she doesn't do any problems on the boards. You're better of collaborating with your peers!
I took her for 1106 and 1107. Even with her un-tech-saviness, she made the classes incredibly easy and honestly difficult to do poorly in. Pay half attention in class and you'll do well. She's very kind and caring, and made time to meet me when I couldn't make office hours for a project!

Harris is an alright professor, she makes her classes extremely easy to pass if you just show up and do her homework. However, she uses AI for class--specifically to generate questions and answers in her homework and lectures. Thus, many of the answers are marked incorrectly--correct answers are marked as incorrect. Just show up, you'll pass.
The class is poorly organized and overly convoluted. AI-generated slides and homework often contain errors, quizzes are inaccurate, and political rants are forced into assignments. The math is basic, but worded impossibly. When Charlie Kirk was killed, she ranted for nearly 30 minutes. Most useless mandatory attendance class ever. Take algebra.

Compared Charlie Kirk's death to 9/11. The TAs and LAs were extremely unhelpful. The learning material had grammatical and content errors in it. The material is easy and she teaches it well. Tests are easy. The labs are actually really helpful. Some of her examples were weirdly political. Nice person when I had questions.
Don't skip the lectures and make sure to do the pre-lecs. Tests aren't too hard. The TA's are really nice though.
Mandatory lectures about dull material that drags on forever. She's a nice professor, which certainly is a plus. Assignments will never take over an hour at home, and you'll never have to really study for the tests. Take for an easy math credit if you need one, but know that you'll dread going to class.
