Every class is a combination of lectures that are all accessible online so coming to class isn't really worth it and no one pays attention anyway. Her exams are also pretty easy. With little to no studying all of my friends and I received a 95%. Should be a relatively easy 'A', just a drag of a class to show up to.
She is very nice however she does not know the material as well as she should to explain it but. She does however give generous formula sheets for their exam.
This class is an easy A. The first exam is basic statistics which causes a lot of people to stop putting in the effort but the material does get harder as the course goes on. She'll replace one bad exam grade with your final exam grade if it's higher and offers extra credit. Only have to attend 20 classes to get full points. Homework is every week.
She genuinely cares about her students. Sometimes she doesn't explain some things well in class, but if you visit her during office hours she's a BIG help. Homework is weekly and very simple, she gives you practice tests before exams that are almost identical to the test, gives you a formula sheet, and gives extra points for attendance!
Class is extremely boring, but that comes with the material I guess. She is a nice person but is somewhat unclear in how she delivers the material. The reviews are a bit misleading. Do not go into the class expecting for an easy A. Although it is an easy A, it is also easy to become complacent and write the class off. This will backfire.
The subject she taught was extremely tough for me, and she really helped make sure that I did well in it. I was in her office hours a lot in order to make sure I did well, and she even made an effort to get to know me. She is a very sweet lady and is very committed to helping you if you're willing to put in the effort.
She read straight off the power points but she posts them online so you don't have to show up but if you do then you get extra credit on homework. USC's stats department isn't good but she's the best teacher because she's the only one that allows graphing calculators which is great so you don't have to memorize equations. Her TA is also great.
She just reads straight off of power points which bothers me, but the tests and homework are easy. However, there are constant spelling and mathematical mistakes on her sample problems, so be aware!
After you get 20 participation credits you don't have to go. She's just a bad teacher. Make sure you try to get your best score on the homework and get clicker points because they're extra credit.
If you study a night or two before exams, show up to at least 20 classes for attendance points, and do all the homework on time, you should be able to get an A. She is very nice but can be very boring to listen to when she's lecturing. You can literally learn everything you need from doing the homeworks. Her exam reviews are also very helpful.
Great person, not the best teacher Reads word for word from powerpoint presentations Goes extremely slow Does not understand any of our assignments Takes attendance every day Cant really answer any questions
Shes super sweet and relaxed. But she reads the Powerpoints word for word. You go to class to click, not to actually learn anything.
Had to retake business statistics because I got a D the first time with a different teacher, then took it again with Laub and got an A. Class is boring and attendance isn't necessary because you can answer the clicker questions from home. Tests are easy and pretty straightforward if you review her power points to study.
Laub was interesting. She really just read off PowerPoints and she used iclicker for attendance, but you could sign in on your phone which was amazing. I never went to her class, but I took stat in high school, so this class was a breeze.
Basically if you do the online hw and know how to do her practice exams you will pass. Clicker points count but she uses the app so you can do it from anywhere.
you will get so easily distracted listening to this woman speak. uses clickers for points so you don't have to go to class, doing the homework will help your grade a lot and she will replace your lowest exam with your final
It's pretty easy to do well in this class. She's really boring but drops your lowest test grade and adds all of the clicker points in as an extra assignment. You really only have to do the online homework and if you miss it she gives you an extra week past the due date to get it done for only a 25% penalty.
Laub's class would've been better if we could've used a graphing calculator but even still it would've been a difficult course. She's very set in her ways and not at all flexible, so be sure to have everything in order. Clicker points are super important and expect to ace the first test and none of the others.
I would not necessarily say she is the best teacher but she puts all of the notes and a lot of resources on mystatlab. The exams are easy if you keep up with the material and understand it, she also replaces one of the exams with the final if you do bad.
Most of the time, Laub seemed like she didn't even know what she was doing. I took AP stats in high school so the material was familiar. But for someone who has never taken stats before, I feel like it would be challenging because of the way she teaches. You use iclicker for attendance and participation and she posts her powerpoints. HW sucked
1st Exam- Easy A 2nd 3rd exam and final are much harder You can drop one exam and replace with final Homeworks- Hard but use online calculators She gives you plenty of resources to learn the material but all of the resources were made by a different prof in the STAT dept. Don't expect her to actually teach the material to you. Reads off slides.
Professor Laub is by far one of the worst professors I have had while in college. She reads off the slides and doesnt explain anything in detail. Even if you show up to class, youll have to teach yourself everything else later. She has no passion for teaching and no passion to see her students succeed. Avoid this professor at all costs.
A very very bad professor. I went to most classes and could not understand anything she was teaching. Basically she reads off a power point and isn't helpful in answering questions. Final is cumulative which sucks because she doesn't prepare you well. I had to resort to learning everything on Youtube. Her homework assignments will take you hours.
The class itself is not very hard but you teach yourself though doing the homework. Show up to class to get the attendance points but make sure you do the homework to understand how to do stuff. Tests are not that hard and she gives a lot of partical credit on them.
Attendance is all clicker points so you never really have to go and all of her powerpoints are word for word online. Tests are pretty hard but shes a pretty fair grader and gives a lot of partial credit if you try. Homework is the only downfall because it is so difficult. and hard too get good grades on. No extra credit, will round up.
You can skip a lot, participation is based off of clicker points that you can do from anywhere even when youre not in class. You have to teach yourself everything because she reads the power point word for word, but this class is easy so its worth it. She gives a formula sheet for every test. You need to do the homework to get a good grade.
Her lectures are not great so you may have to teach yourself some stuff, but her tests fairly easy and homework is a pretty big part of the grade.
Laub read straight off the powerpoint the entire semester. Since the powerpoints are posted online you dont really need to go to class once you get your 50 iclicker points. Tests are very straightforward and she drops your lowest exam & replaces it with final exam score. If you took stats in hs you should know the majority of the material already
Stats could be a really hard subject, but she made it easier. Though she teaches off the powerpoint, it's not a class to worry about. The tests are not confusing and she grades really nicely. I don't understand why she keeps getting such bad reviews. It's an easy class, and she's a caring teacher. It's a no stress math class.
Laub isnt bad at all. She reads straight off the powerpoints so the class can feel long sometimes, but its really not that bad. Attendance isnt mandatory but about 5% of your grade comes from being in class. The two exams in this class are really easy, and the two papers that you need to write are easy too.
Very monotonous teacher but so cool as a person. The class is incredibly easy, tests are straightforward. If you need help she is very helpful one-on-one in office hours. Once you get your 50 clicker points theres no point in going to class because she literally reads straight off the powerpoint the whole lecture & powerpoints are posted online.
Grade is determined by a midterm, final exam, two papers, and several homework assignments. Homework assignments allow multiple attempts with hints and explanations. Papers are very simple and easily graded, and study guides are relatively similar to the exams. Attendance is taken each class and counts for 5-10% of final grade.
Class is an easy A if you do the homework. Homework is much harder than the test. Attendance is done by Reef app so you don't even have to show up I clicked in from my apartment. Nice lady who knows stats and gives you everything to have A in class.
All of the lectures are pretty boring and she just reads off of the slides. She takes attendance at the beginning of each class and then you don't really have to pay attention for the rest of the class. Make sure you do the homework because it really adds up.
Nothing is worse than waking up at 8 am to go to this boring class. She takes attendance everyday and it counts for 5% of your grade. She has 2 reports, 2 tests, and a homework average. Shes really slack at grading reports so easy A on those. Homework is a hassle, dont forget to do it or your grade will suck. She also doesnt round up a 89.9.
This is the easiest math class I've ever taken. There are a decent amount of homework assignments but they are not hard plus you get 3 attempts, explanations, and even the answer sometimes. Reviews before the midterm and final with a study guide that is almost exactly like the test. I don't understand the negative reviews, sure it's boring. Easy A
Professor Laub is exceptional. The class covers very basic material, but she makes it somewhat interesting. She tends to ramble every now and then, but her laugh is so contagious. She is very caring and kind. Grade is based on homework, midterm, final, and two papers. Homework has multiple attempts. Papers are VERY easily graded.
Laub deserves a much higher rating. Her class is so easy and she's a very sweet person. She works with you when you need her to and is very understanding. Show up to class and get your attendance, do the homework, write your papers and you'll get an easy A.
Great
Reads directly from powerpoint, but the information is there. It's a really easy class id you just show up and study a bit before tests. Fairly easy A
Hey if you took AP stat this class will be super easy if you ignore everything she say. You never need the Book Dont buy it you just in the online mystatlab Code. and you only need 45 Clicker point and then you can stop going to the class. The test on in class but super easy.
4 exams in total. Your final exam grade replaces another exam grade if it's lower. It started off really easy and then got harder. Once you get enough clicker points you don't have to come to class. If you can understand what the formulas mean you'll be fine. Not much homework. Just try and listen to learn the more difficult content.
Super easy class, just take notes and do the homework on time and you'll get an A. First two tests are way too easy for a college class. If you don't show up make sure to get the notes from someone because if you don't get them you might struggle a bit on the next homework.
Most boring lectures ever. Never answers students questions fully or relevantly. Just reads off of slides, doesnt actually teach. Wouldnt recommend
This class was easy. Show up to get your attendance point. Use the midterm and Final study guide, because the study guide and exam are very similar. Dr. Laub doesn't budge on deadlines and if you submit something wrong, EX: I had to submit a bibliography, but my rough draft was attached too, I ended up with a 0 for that part of the assignment.
She is very nice and sweet. Her lectures are very boring but I just did the homework while I was in class. The homework is so much harder then the exams and the software tells you how to do the problems. If you know what each formula does on the formula sheet then the exams will be easy.
Worst Professor I have had in my college career so far. Read off her slides, lame. Laughs at her own jokes, lame. She does not allow makeup on exams, lame. I heard she does NOT round your 50 to a 90, lame again. All I can say is that she is lame. (In all seriousness, I did not like her). She was not fun or fresh.
Laub was a good professor. Her tests were easy (only a midterm and final) and her homework was easy too. All you have to do is do your work and you will be successful.
I dont even know honestly. Not sure if its the department but she could not teacher worth a crap. Read right off the slides. HW was easy and the exams were right off the HW. Easy A if you pay attention and study. Dont even need to go to class since the notes are all online.
worst professor I have ever had. She reads directly off of her slides, and if there is a chart on the slide, she reads every single number off of that chart with no explanation of what the values even mean. I had to teach myself all of the material out of class, homework is impossible, and she overcomplicates EVERYTHING. Do NOT take this class.
This class is boring, but the exams are easy if you study. You also are given a formula sheet. Pearson is used for homework, and these questions can be hard, but there are unlimited attempts, and they don't show up on the exams.
I only recommend taking her if you have already taken a stat class in high school or else you will be very confused because she does not explain anything well. She reads right off the board. Homework is a lot harder than exams. Does attendance from reef app so you can click from your dorm. Very boring class
Wish I'd never taken this class. First test is super easy and the rest are extremely difficult. One of the worst teachers I've had, doesn't teach or answer questions in a helpful way. Makes the class so much more difficult than it already is, super boring, and she just leaves you in the dark. terrible. i paid attention and didn't learn a thing.
The class is not that hard but Laub is super unhelpful if you have any questions or problems. I tried to email her and she will not budge or offer any sort or partial credit and is rude about it too.
Do not take a class with Prof Laub. Rude, disrespectful, boring, and has no sympathy.
The class is okay, Laub is not. She does not go extra mile, or any distance to accommodate students. Syllabus is king. End up in ER for emergency surgery on the day of the exam? Zero. When online - didnt reply to emails, have zoom lectures, or have office hours -as per syllabus - but used syllabus to avoid accommodating to tech issues, HW probs etc
I had taken Stat before through AP credit so luckily I had some background knowledge because if I didn't, this class would be rough. She reads off a powerpoint as her form of teaching which is fine I guess, but the questions she uses for examples and the homework questions are completely different. Homework questions were just unnecessarily hard.
The first test was fine and we were allowed a formula sheet, but when we went virtual it went downhill. The test questions were the Pearson homework questions with different numbers and were unnecessarily difficult. Did not make students aware of this. Didnt even use her OWN lectures when we went virtual!!! Unprofessional and cold email replies.
Hands down the most rude and condescending teacher I have ever had. Technical difficulties? Sucks for you. You need help after class? Read the syllabus. Every interaction was short and rude and she did not try to help me in any way at all. Find a different teacher or you'll end up teaching yourself the class.
Worst professor ever. I took a statistics class in high school and my teacher was better than this college professor! Took this class completely online due to covid. Laub just reads off the powerpoint word for word. Homework questions are nothing like the lectures. You will basically teach this class to yourself. Youtube is key. Don't take!
Angela Laub is the worst teacher I have had in my entire life. Highly do NOT recommend taking her class if you care about your GPA. She simply does not teach, reads over a power point and does no explaining with no help and makes no sense. She should be fired, she is just that bad. I haven't learned a thing and this is a FYP course, so I'm screwed.
Professor Laub was awful. I had her for an asynchronous stat class and it made me want to jab my eyes out every week when I would sit down and spend hours trying to do the homework. Bless up for groupme because without it no once could have figured out the HW. Don't take her. Ever. Not even if you have to. Find a way out of that class.
Probably the worst teacher I have ever had. Useless powerpoints, difficult homework, and tests that are like 8 questions long so missing one question drops your grade a whole letter. Please do not take her course. Do not make the same mistake that I made.
Just dont take her. Doesnt seem to care about her students and her lectures dont make any sense. Only way I learned was by looking up youtube videos and googling everything. No lockdown browser for tests and used homework question which helped keep my grade up, but probably wouldve failed otherwise. Also not lenient at all if u have tech issues
Professor Laub seems like a very nice lady, but unfortunately, I had a very hard time staying engaged in her lectures and she doesn't explain the concepts very well. She would introduce new concepts very quickly and assume we understood them. I spent most of the course trying to catch up because I didn't understand the last chapter.
If you want to teach yourself college level statistics, please take this class.
She does not teach statistics, but rather uploads ancient lectures that take hours to download. She is no help when you need additional assistance, she does not give makeups for medical or technical reasons (even when Pearson was down for 48+ hours), and she reads slides word for word in her lectures that are several years old. Bad Teacher 0/10
"No, I don't accept late work for that reason, or actually any reason" -Angela Laub, when I had to go get my computer fixed. Don't take this class.
Just would like to put out there that I had a friend pass away and was not given an extension on the assignment to go to the funeral.
All async class which means she doesn't care to upload lectures and is all reading-based. When it comes down to our exams she lets the software do all the grading and is unspecific in what type of answers she is looking for, this means even typed responses such as short answers. I would say at best she's lazy at worst doesn't care about her job.
terrible class. I'm sure she was a good professor in person, but DO NOT take this class online if you can avoid it. the lectures are just her reading lines off of a PowerPoint and don't help at all. she gives no leniency for technology issues. encourages you not to use her office hours. NOT WORTH THE MY TUITION MONEY!!!!
Horrible teacher, doesn't care enough to explain any concepts in her lectures, just reads right off the powerpoint and rushes through the lecture. Very unhelpful and lazy, would not recommend to anyone.
With this being an online class, we watched lectures pre-recorded from summer 2018. She did not teach at all. LOTS of busy work, and she doesn't explain anything. The exams were so hard. Laub gives no extensions, whatsoever. She takes forever to respond to emails and rarely actually answers the question you asked. The worst professor I've had.
She does not answer emails, give extensions, or even try to help you. She will not give extensions for anything including if someone passes away.... She may be a good professor in person but do not take this class online. It is way to stressful for something that should be an easy A.
The actual class and content are fine. The professor is bad and if you think youll need help take another professor. Her emails are always rude and she isnt helpful. I just got an email from her saying she wouldnt fix scores for students who put 0.05 instead of .05, because the software only said .05 is right.
Absolutely terrible professor. By far the most incompetent, lazy, and unhelpful educator Ive ever come into contact with. Her lectures are ineffective and she takes forever to respond to emails. The entire course is essentially self taught. If you do get a response to your emails its usually rude and condescending. Waste of time money and energy.
Don't really understand all the bad reviews. There is a lot of self teaching but she is always helpful during tests and willing to answer questions. The homework is useful and a great way to learn the material, but can be hard/ time consuming. Overall a nice professor but if you will need a lot of extra help maybe take someone else.
Don't bother showing up to class because you WILL be teaching the material to yourself. Easy tests but Laub is a horrible teacher. I feel bad saying that because she's a nice woman but ALL she does is read the power-points. Homework is also really hard for no reason but thats bc it's on Pearson. If you dont have a stats background do NOT take her!
you dont need to go to class unless its exam day. exams are on paper but she let us use our phones as "calculators". very easy to cheat if thats what youre into. online quizzes and hw are fairly easy and give hints. she is super leniant with grading and i have never studied a lot and gotten As on all exams.
Laub is a very average professor and luckily the class is particularly easy. Her lectures are straight from the PowerPoint and I found that going to class was pretty useless. I had to teach myself most of the material but the notes she provides are very helpful. The only good thing about her class is that she makes the exams extremely easy.
Homework is a little difficult but its from the stats department. Still very manageable. Tests are easy. Her lectures are not the best but the material is easy enough to teach yourself. The class overall is not difficult
Angela is a good person. However, her lectures are terrible. She just reads the slides off. The homework is extremely difficult and sometimes would take over 4 hours for 25 Qs. There wasn't a single test I got lower than a 99. She gives you all the formulas, you just need to plug-and-chug. If you want an easy A take her, but you wont learn anything
Her lectures are really boring because she reads off of the slides and class is not mandatory unless there's an exam. The exams are also pretty easy. So, if you don't mind either sitting through a boring lecture or teaching yourself from the slides and don't want to learn much then this is the class for you. I do spend a lot of time on homework tho
Attendence isn't mandatory except for exams. All she does is read off the powerpoint slide by slide during class. She posts everything online so there is no need to go to class unless you have questions. The exams are really easy and are actually easier than the homework, if you actually do the hw.
eh she really does not teach but I 100% recommend her if you have already taken stats before. She lets you use your phone as a calculator and is a very easy grader. If you are new, you literally will teach yourself everything. The homework takes FOREVER but other than that it is pretty easy.
Be prepared to teach yourself for this class. But I rlly enjoyed professor laub, attendance was not mandatory except for exam days and the exams were very easy and she gave lots of partial credit. The assignments are very time consuming so just make sure you do them early and you will be fine
didn't go to class, just glance at the study guide's and you're chilling
Attendance is not mandatory and you don't really need to go except for exams because she just reads off a PowerPoint. If you are willing to teach yourself, this is a good class. The exams are pretty easy as well.
im not really sure why dr Laub has bad reviews... a lot of people say she doesn't give any extensions or makeups for any reason, but that is because she gives you a month to get all the homework done. she is very reasonable and willing to work with you. overall I would take this professor again. an easy A
This class in an easy A, that's all you need to know.
You will not learn anything if you take this professor, but it was a super easy A. exams are so easy.
Ok so Professor Laub during lectures makes absolutely no sense, and the homework is 10 times harder than it needs to be. But her exams are an actual JOKE, my friend and I studied so hard and then took the taste and actually laughed about it after. So if you want an easy pass you should take her
Professor Laub's lectures are questionable, but she does not require attendance. If you like learning things on your own, Laub is the right professor for you. You do have to do a lot of homework and studying outside of class but with a little effort, it is an easy A.
This professor is awful. Do not take her. She does not care about her students. It seems like she want people to fail. Do not do this to yourself.
Hands down the best Stats 206 teacher you can take. There is weekly Hw but its online on Pearson and does not take much times. Most of your grade comes from 3 exams and the Final, although all are very short and she not a strict grader. Should be an pretty easy course.
Great Teacher, very repetitive though. Exams are easy.
I had an A average the entirety of the semester, and I encountered an issue with my final exam and timing. She would not let me retake the exam at a different time which resulted in my average dropping to a D. She then proceeded to be unprofessional and accusatory via email. She does not care for her students and it shows. Do not take her course.
This class was really easy if you did the homework and studied even marginally for the tests. She is a really easy grader for the tests but her homework, like the rest of the STAT206 classes, is insanely long. She is not a great lecturer either so you have to teach yourself alot of the course but like I said its an easy A.
She's an average professor, her lectures are kind of boring because she reads directly off the slides. There's homework every week but it's not hard, you just have to teach yourself everything by using the online textbook. Exams are super easy (easier than the homework) and she's an easy grader.
Laub was the worst Stats class I had. The class is very lecture heavy where she just reads off of slides. There is a lot of homework on a system that doesn't work very well. The tests she gives are pretty straightforward, but her demeanor the whole semester was off and I was not eager to come to her class every week. I would reccomend someone else
very lecture heavy, she just reads off of slides so it can be boring. Everything is through Pearson so the homework and quizzes can be tedious. Her exams are easy if you study. Gives formula sheet for each exam and has good office hours. If you just put in a little effort you will do good in her class!
Shes great. You can literally only show up on test days and still make an A in the class. Super chill and you know exactly whats expected of you!
Wouldnt suggest her for anyone. She mumbles through the entire class and just reads the notes word for word. Worst teacher Ive ever had. I dont think she knows what she is talking about. Waste of time
She is super boring and going to that class took everything out of me. She does not allow any makeups or redos for ANYTHING, like she does not care why you could not get the assignment done. I cannot stress enough how boring that class was. The exams are medium difficulty. If you study the study guide then you can get a decent grade.
Professor Laub is by far the most inconsiderate professor I have had at usc so far. The class itself is not very difficult but do not expect her to try to help you or accommodate any personal needs.
This class was super easy, but the homework was annoying. The professor breezes through the lectures so fast. Though, overall, I would take this class again because of the way she grades. She gives credit for exams even if you get the problem wrong, as long as she sees your process.
I look this class MWF 8:00am, safe to say I went the first day, midterm, and final. The material is super easy as long as you stay on top of it. She gives practice questions prior to exams that are very similar to exams. The hw's are tedious but easy. Can't speak much on her teaching or if she is understanding/accessible, but it's easy to pass.
You don't have to show up to class. I never really went but on test days. All I did was study the homework she gave us in Pearson and I made a 97 overall in the class. It's a class that I would recommend if you are good at teaching yourself everything online. I would not recommend it if you don't discipline yourself to do work though.
oh my god Id never think that id heard one person repeat the same sentence three times in a row, 5 classes in a row. But now I have
do not take her. I promise you won't learn a single thing. she starts off class saying the exact same thing she did the class before, her notes make no sense and you can't understand anything she says. she has no clue what she is teaching and makes up random stuff just to go to the next slide. if you take her best of luck because it was a nightmare
Laub was late to class all the time which got super annoying. I tried to complain to advising but she decided to come in with a full on McDonalds meal every time.
Lectures are repetitive, she repeats the same thing 4 or 5 times. Does not teach, just talks with no main goal. Very out of touch. Unwilling to work with students. If you cannot teach yourself the information then don't take this class.
she doesn't teach, just reads off slides. recites the syllabus for the first 15 min of class every class. taught myself everything and got an 100. homework can take several hours and was annoying af
