Do not take her if you want to be overwhelmed with hw or even fail. She does not give you correct answers and makes tests with a fill-in-the-blank, multiple-choice, short response, and essay. Grades very hard as if she is an English professor for case studies and dietary assessments. She uses her own textbook make sure to get hers, not the SF.
She is honestly a good person but this course is very hard, especially if you are taking other heavy classes. Dedicate as much of your time to studying. I did good on her writing assignments but her tests were just difficult. The study guides are honestly life savors, but she doesn't tell you if they are right. The book is your friend! GO TO CLASS.
She is very knowledgable on nutrition, but holds students to very high standards. She is a nice person, but tough grader. If you to put in a lot of work and effort into the class every week, you will succeed. Tests have fill in the blank, no word bank. Do the study guides! She doesn't tell you the correct answers to study guides so be careful!
Although the book is just "recommended", without it you will not pass. She grades case studies and etc like an English assignment. You will not get away with short answers. The tests are multiple-choice, free response, and long answers (very difficult). Doing the study guides and going to in-person class will be the only way to pass. Take notes!
4 Exams, Averages INCLUDING 10 points extra credit; 82.3, 50.5, 63.8, 60.7. Textbook isn't mandatory bc it's not found in SF's bookstore, but it's impossible to pass without. Her tests are replicas of the study guide but she doesn't give you correct answers and instead refers you to the book with any questions you have. 50% of the class dropped
She's passive aggressive. Seems nice at first, but is uninterested in her students succeeding. Grades extremely harsh. Literally changes assignment instructions hours before it's due. It's better to skip class & not give an excuse than to try and reason with her. Might as well teach yourself out of the book because I learned nothing in class:)
She is the worst teacher you will ever have. Her response to everything is "the department says no". She is unreasonable and doesn't want her students to pass. More than half the class dropped. She grades super hard and does not give clear instructions. Her tests are impossible & don't get me started on the final. Don't take her, I'm saving you.
This professor really understands nutrition. If you do the study guide, you will succeed in her class. Pay attention in lecture and take good lecture notes and you will do well. Exams are based off study guide. This class was informative and beneficial for my future. Would recommend this professor if you really want to learn nutrition!
First week or so, she seemed understanding and I had hopes for a good semester. After, it was downhill in terms of her grading and her attitude towards students. Extremely intensive grading with the dietary assessments, sarcastic (not in a fun way) during lectures. Look for other nutrition professors before doing this one. This one is a last resort
Class discussions are beneficial and help you understand the material
Do the study guides
Complete your study guides and study ! You do well in the class.
Worst Professor Ive ever had, not exaggerating. Whenever you ask her for help she gives you sarcastic and not helpful feedback. Not very helpful when you ask her questions. The study guides are helpful for the test I just feel like theres a bunch of extra stuff on the study guide you dont need for test. Grades super roughly for an elective class
The class is not difficult if you attend, pay attention, and use Quizlet to study. I did minimal effort because I didn't have time, and I was fine. Professor also gives a lot of extra office hours on weekends and nights.
It's a hard class, but you'll pass if you do the study guides and pay attention
No, it is not a freebie class and you have to put in some effort. This is a mandatory class for me and I have to know this material to move forward. There are helpful study guides and extra credit on every test.
If you are lazy and want an easy high grade, dont whine, complain or bother to take this class because you obviously do not need to learn anything new. Provides study guides that help you pass the tests, but you have to read them. There was extra credit with every test. She knows her stuff
She zooms through lecture material and when answering test or case study questions, if you dont go into as much detail as she wants your grade will suffer dramatically. Whatever you do, do not take her as a teacher. She lies about what the department says to manipulate us and she cant see that when all of her students fail an exam that its her
I was really looking forward to this class and learning about nutrition but it was a miserable experience. Do not take Angela and if youve already signed up for the class, drop it before you waste your time trying to please a teacher who wants you to fail
This class is similar to science classes, except there is not a lab. You will need to attend class, read the book, and study hard. Case studies are tricky at first but the professor will help you if you go to her office hours. Her study guides were helpful too- great class!
Theres a lot of work; I learned a lot. Tests were hard though Im not a good test taker. Mrs. Singleton gave after hours help, and because of her study guides and the fact that she was available for questions, I scored much higher!
Syllabus is clear and gives reading assignments and exam dates. She provides lecture outlines that are easy to fill in. Study guides are long but useful and count for extra credit on exams. She offers workshops to help with calculations and case studies. There were several small assignments all semester. She offers extra credit in many ways.
Professor Singleton really knows her stuff! She is committed to student success, provides ample resources, workshops, extra credit, and lecture notes. Assignments reinforce class material, critical thinking skills, and practical application of nutrition. Honestly the free department material is lacking so buy the book Understanding Nutrition!!
A great prof. who really knows her stuff about nutrition. Her lectures are interesting and engaging, and she provides lots of resources outside of class to help you succeed. Make sure to do the study guides and mini assignments well since everything on the exam will be from there (they were my main resources for the class). Also, don't skip!
Honestly, it could be worse. Her lectures are like those traditional ones where the teacher reads off of the slides every class. But she keeps you interested and engaged. Like I was actually interested in what she had to say and I learned a lot from her just talking. She'll ask questions that are from something that she just says in class.
Class was sometimes lecture heavy but interesting. Helpful exam reviews had games and crosswords which made studying fun. The study guides were able to be extra credit on test. Attending class was extra credit. If you had questions, she would get back to you pretty quick on email.
This is a hard class, no doubt about it. Professor LS is amazing at what she does. The best way to succeed is to focus on lecture material and do the study guides. Study as much as you can because its easy to fall behind. Ask her questions and don't hesitate to email her, she is very speedy on reply's and always wants to help!
Terrible Professor. So much information in one lecture. Its too much to even understand. Do not take her. She is very passive aggressive towards her students.
Info dense and not a freebie class! Great Prof, works really hard to give students all the resources and opportunities possible to do well. Gives extra credit and has extra office hours to help. She's definitely worth taking if your willing to put the time and effort to learn the material. Don't take if you don't care about learning nutrition!
Professor Lounds-Singleton has so much knowledge and information to give. She strives to make sure you have the resources to be prepared and succeed. She is very nice but not very lenient so make sure your assignments are turned in on time. I loved her class and would take it again.
One of the best professors I've had. She really knows her stuff and wants to see you succeed. She makes learning easy by having detailed video lectures and her own lecture outline notebook. She gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit as well. She is very caring and willing to help. As long as you do the work and study you'll easily pass.
Really knows her stuff. You can not be a lazy student and expect to do well in this class. She provides a study guide and videos to watch before each lecture which really helps. She cares about her students and goes the extra mile to make sure her students understand the material. Classes are interesting. I really enjoyed this class.
She is very knowledgeable, the lectures are very interesting. If you do the work, you will do great!
I really enjoyed this class, the recorded lectures, games, and group activities. There is a lot of info but she makes it easy to understand. She also helps with case studies.
Ms. Singleton is a great teacher. The class itself can be very overwhelming but she does offer study guides for each unit. It is not easy but she makes it understandable if you APPLY yourself. You can't slack in the class. She also has a lot of extra credit you can earn. Before each test, she does reviews which is helpful as well.
This is definitely not any easy class but professor Singleton gives a lot of opportunities for success! Listen to lectures before class, listen to feedback, ask questions, and study!!! & you will do great! She gives opportunities for extra credit, and is always available with extensive knowledge on this subject. I truly feel like I learned A LOT!
Not an easy class but there's chances for extra credit. The lectures are recorded on canvas so you can review. Gives clear expectations and provides study guides for each chapter, does test reviews in class, and even in class does assignments on occasion. She definitely cares about her students success but you have to study hard up and do the work!
The course is well organized and easy to follow. Professor is very helpful with questions.
The class work was very vigorous and their was a lot of supplementary material. With that being said it was a good experience and you are definitely going to get what you put into this class. If you stay on top of your assignments and do the extra work it should be a manageable class. If you fall behind easily, this class might not be for you.
I love that this class is offered as a hybrid option! Prof LS does an amazing job at setting her students up for success. Online lectures are well organized & in-class time is optimized, providing students with the best of both worlds. This hybrid class model is perfect for the student who is okay w/independent study but still craves minimal F-2-F.
professor Lound- Singleton is a great professor. what you put in the class is what you get out of it. If you come in and apply yourself you will pass. She gives tons of extra credit and before each unit exam she preps the class with a review game that correlates with the exam. overall I would take her again
Professor LS is very passionate about her subject, grading criteria is very clear and she makes her expectations known at the start of class. Be organized and keep up with all the reading material and notes she gives you.
Professor Singleton Is very caring and has a strong passion for what she is teaching. The course is difficult but you can definitely pass if you put in the work. Make sure you pair up with people as there are study guides due every class with a "mini-test" following. Ensure you do most of the "optional" assignments they are a large portion of exams
She is very intelligent and really teaches on the holistic side of Nutrition. She's accessible outside of class and gives good feedback and genuinely wants you to succeed. As long as you put in the work she will help you.
She is very enthusiastic about nutrition, and more than happy to talk to you after class or at office hours. Canvas is overwhelming at first, & looks like a lot of homework, but then you find out the discussion posts aren't graded (but do them anyway because they're basically exam prep & beneficial). I only wish we had & used a textbook.
She gives: extra credit, written lecture notes, lecture videos, and a lot of hw. Do all of the hw, even if its not graded bc it helps you get thru exams. Very strict on deadlines, be prompt. Always willing to meet with you to help you w/ understanding. Gives you confidence if you lack it. Pay attention. Ask her for a textbook.
Jeopardy exam review games are fun. Case studies are difficult, exams are difficult but very interesting class.
She is a great professor, especially for those who may not have medical/health sciences background. I really appreciated all the time she put into the lectures and videos and providing real-time solutions and ways to make improvements. As long as you show up, follow assignments, and study (not cram) before exams, you'll do great!
I learned a lot from this class. This professor is very enthusiastic about nutrition and is very helpful outside of class when you ask for help. Make sure to watch the lecture videos before class.
The only reason I passed was b/c of my ability to self-teach & use outside resources. When I asked for clarification, she often tells us to research rather than explain in a way that makes sense. Harsh grader, not willing to work with students. I LOVE the class, I wish I could retake it with a diff. teacher so I could feel like i gained something.
This professor has changed my life. I'm now a better student because of her. She cares about her students and tries to make class fun. You will learn a lot.
Prof Singleton is very caring about her students and shows genuine interest. The case studies and exams are a lot of work/studying, but as long as you put in the time required you will do fine!
Tells you that assignments aren't graded but majority of exams are full of the discussions and assignments. Test are a-lot of written response. Have to watch lectures before class. Case studies are hard as well. She will try to help as much as possible and is very nice. Do not miss important classes.
She may try her best but is not willing to be cooperative with students. The case studies are hard, and don't expect to get any help from her as she likes to refer students to writing tutors if they have any questions. The tests are long response from random TED talks and other vids that can be hard to keep track of. Get ready to self-teach!
Professor Lounds-Singleton is a great in knowledge and a terrific resource in the field of human nutrition. This is a study intensive class do not take it if you have more than one other demanding class on your schedule. tests information comes from discussions, crossword puzzles and the chapter study guides. create study groups to lesson the work
She knows her stuff and she sincerely wants you to learn the material to get you ready for nursing school, where I want to go. She will tell you there is a lot to study each week, 4-5 hours. Expectations in this class are clear. Going to class, participating in the discussions are to your benefit if you want to pass the exams with good grades.
There is way too much homework that it is very difficult to keep up with. There are 4-10 hw assignments with 20+ questions on each weekly. You have to watch long videos provided to get the info to answer them. She doesn't allow internet use to find the answers and she does not have her powerpoints posted to where you can scroll through them freely.
I enjoyed the class for the first few weeks until she started to assign a lot of assignments with limited time plus case studies are hard If your going to take this course might as well take it by itself with the amount of work she gives there's no time for other coursework
Low-key loved the class for the first couple weeks. But approaching the first exam, homework picked up greatly. Now we are overloaded with homework. There are an average of maybe 8 homework assignments a week, and they take so long to complete that it interferes with other classes and work. I am surviving the course, though, but wouldn't take again
There are way too many homework assignments. The tests have a lot of short answer questions as well as a few essay responses. The assignments and case studies are graded as if this is the final step for your PHD. Would not recommend.
3-4 assignments a day each week, she is VERY detailed when it comes to the written portion of tests which is 50% of the test. If your answer isn't word-for-word how she wants its then you get the question wrong. If taking her I advise you take this class by itself, you won't really have time to do other work for other classes.
Modules are easy to follow. Answer keys to assignments are provided. Half of course requires a lot of studying. The extra credit is very helpful.
Too much homework on stuff that's not even in the curriculum. There's so much that we can't even focus on the curriculum itself, study for exams or other classes. She definitely knows her stuff, but the class all in all was a waste of time. After unit one, there was so much homework that due to little time, I finished to finish, not to learn.
She's great as a person and she is very supportive and caring. But her general method of teaching is rather low quality. As well, the amount of HW is ridiculous.
Take this class if you want to lower your GPA.
Covers most of the material well but some parts are not well taught in class.
This professor is incredibly knowledgeable and you'll definitely learn. Amazing and interesting material! This course has a lot of material so try to stay on top of it. Tests are heavy but also have a lot of extra credit. My advice: don't slack and study everything for the tests (including discussions posts). It's very possible to get an A.
Unnecessarily hard class! LOTS of discussion posts and videos and more than half of the exam are based on them. A lot of the exam is answered in small paragraph format that is very specific to the discussion, so even if you have good knowledge on nutrition, you probably won't know the answer. Also, ngl the professor is a bit of a Karen.
This is instructor is absolutely absurd. She treats this course as it is one that will determine if you get a medical or law degree. She is not helpful with feedback. Was not helpful when asking about suggestions for testing as I am r out of the state while taking this course. Don't take unless able to accommodate all her requirements.
This professor is a nightmare. Do not take this class at Santa Fe College with her! She is VERY picky, extremely test heavy, and there are a lot of assignments. We have to do case studies as if we are already in a health program and work with groups, although we are online. The tests are harder than any anatomy or biology tests I have ever taken.
I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt man. I really do. I absolutely hate leaving reviews. My experience has been awful. This professor is sarcastic, extremely picky with how she wants things done, and she makes the tests extremely challenging. There's a bunch of material you have to learn in a short amount of time.
Course was easy to navigate. Practice exams were very helpful. I'd take her again.
Best option for nutrition. Definitely need to put in the work and study for exams but she answers emails quick and wants u to do good. Practice exams, study guides, and easy participation discussion each week. One 5 Q quiz (2 attempts), lecture video with printed out fill-in notes, and study guide for each CH. Gives E.C. on exams at testing center
Responds to email very quickly and is helpful. Expectations are clear. I liked the class.
I learned a lot from this class. Lectures and provided notes were very helpful. Practice exams take time but you get unlimited tries and they are similar to the exams. She gives several days to complete exams.
This class was very assignment heavy, with at least 1 discussion or quiz due every few days. She was very accommodating with submitting assignments past the deadline, but most assignments felt like busy work. Some lecture topics were not given the sensitivity needed for some students (i.e encouraging students to track their BMI)
Easy class to complete. We did have some group assignments. I would take again.
I am really excited about this class and am learning allot.
I'm halfway thru the course and have a solid A. Everything is easy to follow and straightforward . Practice tests and knowledge checks take a little time and are very helpful. She responds to email and discuss board questions very quickly.
One of the most commendable aspects of her teaching style is her accessibility. She goes above and beyond to ensure students feel supported and understood. Her videos are very informative and helpful. She doesn't simply teach nutrition; she offers practical tips on improving health and helping students make positive changes in their lives.
I would take her class again! She provides so many opportunities to improve your grade!
I was surprised at how difficult the tests were, and that there was a required group project for an online class. But, the group project gave me a chance to meet some classmates to study with and actually helped my grade. This class is a lot of work. However, she is really nice, accessible, responsive and offers extra credit. Get ready to study!
This is not a gimme class. You have to do the work. Study guides are included that are great way to prepare for the tests. She is always available for explanations and what to focus on. The material is interesting and new to me, but there is a lot to learn. I would definitely take her again if she taught another course.
I'm very pleased with all the information and knowledge I've learned about nutrition. Very detailed and professional. Thanks for being encouraging and a great teacher. I would highly recommend this class.
Professor Lounds-Singleton was a great teacher to have for nutrition. Her heart is in her work. She is very prompt in responding. She understands and teaches the material well. I enjoyed the TED talks and videos that were assigned for discussion. It helped bring nutrition to real-life examples and what is going on in the world today.
I had a fantastic experience. She's great in person. Go to her office hours if you take the online class. She is extremely knowledgable and has a very impressive background in food science. I highly recommend her class, you will learn a lot about nutrition!
Professor Singleton is the most attentive, responsive, and caring professor I have ever had. The weekly modules are easy to follow. I'm blown away with the quality of this course.
These reviews are fake.
The tests for this course are 60% of your grade. She offers many opportunities for extra credit, if you take the practice exams (unlimited attempts) she offers the opportunity to add the points earned to your unit exam. There are many discussions posts but all answers can be found in her lecture videos. Don't buy the custom book, you don't need it
This course was straightforward and easy to navigate. She's very nice and responds quickly to the discussion board and email. Office hours are available on campus and on Zoom. I really liked having practice exams. They helped me know what to study for the exams. I also appreciated having flexible deadlines.
Great class. Textbook was helpful with knowledge checks but not required. Her lecture recordings are all inclusive. Two thumbs up!
As long as you follow the weekly modules, the class is very manageable. Professor Lounds-Singleton provides soft deadlines along with numerous extra credit opportunities to help students succeed in the class. Furthermore, the class is very interesting, and I would take it again!
Professor Angela is so cool! She helps preparing ready into A.S Registered Nursing Program. It's a lot of training and practice if you want to become skillful.
This class was pretty hard and had a big work load. The lectures didn't always reflect the quizzes or tests which was frustrating. Taking it alongside micro or anatomy is a mistake, it requires a lot of studying and memorizing. And who does group projects for an online class?
I found this course very informative and easy to follow. Everything I needed was on Canvas. Classes were useful. I liked the diet analysis and case studies we did together. She's very knowledgeable and kind. Make sure to do the practice tests!
WATCH THE LECTURE VIDS!!!
I learned so much from Professor Lounds-Singleton! She is the best!!!! This was an amazing class that has been so useful in making positive changes in my life. I highly recommend her class.
Her class is very straightforward. She has recorded lectures with pre made follow along notes. Her exams are weighted heavy, but there are practice exams that are quite similar. If you make sure to know the practice exams the actual exams aren't too bad. She uses mostly soft deadlines, and she's super understanding that life happens.
I had a great experience in this nutrition class. Everything graded was on Canvas which helped with my work schedule and family demands. She was very accommodating with late testing when my work schedule didn't support me getting to the testing center on time. Her lecture videos covered everything needed. Her practice tests were great!
I had a positive experience in this class! I definitely recommend choosing her as your professor for this course. We had a lot of opportunities for extra credit and she provided practice exams that prepared you very well for the exams. 10/10 class
Professor Lounds-Singleton cares about helping her students pass the class. She offers tons of extra credit that is really interesting and engaging to learn about. Also offered are lots of soft deadlines and helpful feedback. The unit review games are a great way to study for the tests, and as long as you do the homework, you will pass the class.
Great experience. She is very knowledgeable and helpful if you need it. Course is organized and everything is easy to use. There are recorded lectures. Textbook is optional. Quizzes and practice tests had unlimited attempts. I'd study with her again.
Professor Angela is a great instructor. The class is manageable as long as you watch the lecture videos. She provides practice tests that are super helpful for the exams. There's also plenty of opportunity for extra credit, which can really boost your grade.
Professor Singleton does a great job at helping students through this difficult course. There is a lot of material, but her lectures are good and you don't need the textbook. Most deadlines are soft. Lots of extra credit. Whenever I needed help she was quick to respond and assist however she could.
I absolutely love Professor Singleton i thought taking her class online was going to be hard but it wasn't it was very easy the lecture videos help a lot with passing each exam, she gives extra credit that actually boost your grade making a huge difference it goes a long way I'd take her again. she's very understanding.
She is a great choice for this class. I only had one complaint and it was my own fault ahaha. I was 4 words should have the class discussion requirement so I got some points off. Other than that, she was very communicative and her requirements for the class were very clear. She genuinely wants you to succeed. If you pay attention, this class is EZ!
I thought that based on these reviews that this would be a good professor to take. Nutrition is pretty difficult, I think the thing that helped me was that I have taken AP Bio and Chem. Lots of vocab to know, the lectures are super boring, and the quizzes are poorly designed. The professor was also kinda mean to me. Do not take as an elective!
No complaints. Great class. Easy to follow instructions and timely feedback. She's really nice.
