This is the second time I'm taking Statistics! She is the BEST professor I had ever had at the University!! She is so clear on here lectures, so kind. Her homework is easy, (use the book) and her tests are very easy as well! If you do your homework and if you do her practice exams that she hands out you will get an A for sure!!
Pretty simple class - Prof. Lowe's lectures are super clear and come straight from the book - don't really need to read if you don't want to. She explains really well and gives great examples. Graded on best 6/8 random quizzes, so you should probably go. Midterms pretty straightforward if you review lectures (which she posts online). Take her!
Nice professor. The tests are very fair and she doesn't try and trick you. However I found it very hard to pay attention to her since it was an 8am class and she wasn't using a microphone so I didn't really have the will power to pay attention, especially cause I found the lectures kind of boring. She's very nice but hard to focus on.
Easiest professor in the entire world. If you read the book you don't even have to go to her lectures (but you will because you have 6/8 pop quizzes that count). Her questions are straightforward and the grading system is the same. She talks to you like you are a pre-school student... which is fine because you understand the material that way!
Professor Lowe is beyond amazing! Yes she does talk to you like you are in pre school, but it truly helps me understand the concepts she is talking about. I took a different stats class before this one and got a C. This one im guaranteed to get an A. T/F and multiple choice questions on a stats test?who woulda thought. if you take psyc 60, take her
Prof. Lowe is the stats teachers for the non-math types out there. She makes concepts as easy as possible to understand. Some say that she teaches it like a kindergarten teacher but that is what I need when I'm trying to learn T-tests, Z-tests, Chi-square tests, etc. Awesome at teaching for sure
Tests are very straight forward which are composed of both multiple choice and short answers. Weekly quizzes are given but she only grades 6/8. She is a very good lecturer. I looked forward to going to her class everyday.
Lectures are boring and does not teach well. Exams are hard and I didn't learn much from this class.
Sporadic in-class quizzes for attendance (which are very easy), 6/8 of which are graded. Two midterms and one final exam, plus SONA extra credit. Exams come straight from lecture, so know it VERY well. No tricks, but there are short-responses on all exams. All-in-all, very doable.
She is a good lecturer. Exams are extremely fair everything in the exam is taught in class. The short answers would be considered harder, just study and you'll be fine. The quizzes were pop quizzes and they were fairly easy. DONT underestimate the days she gives pop quiz and watch out for the back to back quizzes; those are the surprisers!!
her lectures are really interesting and clear. and she is a really good lecturer. i did not open the textbook even once. just went to lecture and studied the notes and got an A. 8 pop quizzes and she counts the best 6. you get 9/10 points on the quiz just for writing something relevant even if its wrong.
definitely one of the easier upper division psyc classes. 6/8 easy pop quizzes for checking attendances. 2 midterms and 1 final. she posts study guides of what you need to know and her lectures cover basically everything. professor lowe is also very approachable and always answered any questions i had, even specific ones from study guides. SONA ec.
All you need to do is attend class and take notes and you'll get an A, fersure. Her exams are pretty much the practice exams. She makes everything simple which is just what I needed and is extremely kind and helpful. Homework is straight from her notes. Don't bother buying the textbook. If anything, borrow from the library.
She's pretty awesome. I would recommend showing up to every lecture because she gives random quizzes on the material from the previous class.
My friend recommended her. I do not know what happened but I think her teaching style changed (?). She utilizes iclicker participation. Her midterms so far were all multiple choice (around 15-20 questions). There is homework on Ted that is tedious. Overall, I wish I didn't take her:( Class average is 65-70% which is not great for a stats class.
Do your homework and go to class. Don't be scared of your midterm grades, she gives out GENEROUS curve. You will get an A.
At first, I was so scared of this class because I scored below average on my mid-term 2 and thought that I would end up with C. However, she curved so much that I ended up with B+. She is super generous and explains concepts by illustrating examples. I recommend her.
I would not recommend this teacher. I showed my HW to other friends who took psyc 60 before and 100% of them responded it to be tedious and a lot harder than their class. Mandatory iclickers. The midterms represent the lectures but an around 65% average of the class? We can see how tricky and harsh the questions can be.
Pretty straightforward class. The homework was all online. Midterm 1 was basic statistical concepts. The second midterm and the final were a little tough. Overall, good class, especially for a GE.
Lowe has a pretty organized teaching style and definitely knows her stuff. Her podcasts make it easy to review the material and appears to genuinely care for her students. Aplia homework seems pointless at times as her exams are EXTREMELY conceptual. TAs are chill and mostly helpful. The material can pile up so seek help RIGHT AWAY if necessary.
There is nothing to complain about professor Lowe except the mandatory homework she assigns. Exams were somewhat challenging but you get a letter sized, two sided cheat sheet. Homework is time consuming but is easy points. Attendance is also free points since clicker responses are only for participation.
her tests are hard, but she gives a good curve!
Lectures are precise and a must! There are clicker questions and the professor usually goes over problems in class which are very helpful. Slides are posted online and much more useful than the book IMO. Great professor! Tests can be challenging and tricky because demand solid knowledge of the material. Awesome professor though!
professor lowe is a great professor. She is very clear in her lectures and gives specific examples of problems similar to what you may see on homeworkmidterms. Her midterms are somewhat difficult (I actually did pretty bad on both) but she gives a huge, generous curve at the end of the course. I would highly recommend taking her class.
Prof. Lowe is amazing. Her lectures are pretty clear and organized. You only need to study the PPT slides and listen to her lecture to pass the test. She uploads her lectures on Ted podcast, which is very useful to re-listen the lectures (recommended for exams). 5 online experiments (supper easy), 2 midterms, 1 finals, and 2% extra credits.
Very clear when she gives lecture and always reiterates important points. If you go to lecture and listen to what she's saying then you can get an A. Paying attention and doing the assigned homework should definitely be enough to definitely get you a B or an A. She is very clear and great at explaining topics. Would definitely take her again!
She's a good lecturer; she uses podcast and powerpoint. There are two midterms and one final, MC, TF, and short answers. The exams are very reasonable if you study. The material is pretty interesting. You'll do well if you study the notes. The textbook wasn't that helpful. I basically just used it for clarification.
This is one of the easier Psychology classes at UCSD. Tests are multiple choice with a short answer section and truefalse section. She also podcasts (visual and audio), so it's really easy to catch up for the tests. She also has a "lab" component of the class, but these are online labs and they're painfully easy.
Wasted $150 on textbook I never cracked open. Lectures are long, & while the content is interesting, she is very quite & docile so it's hard to stay focused. Just listen to the podcasts. 1 midterm, 1 cumulative final; neither are hard just make sure you review the lecture slides thoroughly. She DOES ask for specific examples of studies in her tests
She's an amazing professor. Everything is clear and laid out. Most structured class iv'e had so far. My only issue was that she would finish 10-15 minutes early and I'm still confused. Click in-s aren't a big deal, free points for you. She's also very engaging and interactive, cares about her students.
WONDERFUL.
She is very organized and her lectures are crystal clear. You do get points for using the i-clicker in class, but class is not mandatory. I would still recommend going to class because a lot of the online homework problems are pretty similar to the examples presented in class. Discussion covers nothing new, but I definitely enjoyed her class.
Lowe was definitely my best prof this quarter. Super clear lecturer, cares for student success, and digests harder parts of the course for your understanding. No homework, no readings, just lecture and two midterms along with a final. This class was completely straightforward. WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND. Do not need textbook at all.
Professor Lowe is fantastic. She is definitely the best professor I've had at UCSD so far. The homework isn't bad, it usually takes from around 30 minutes to an hour, and there only one assignment each week. She is very clear in her lectures, and it's nice cause she puts up the podcasts after the lecture. She also gives up to 3% EC, which is a ton.
She was great, I gotta be honest, very clear lecture and super helpful slide show. No homework or pop quizzes. However, attending lecture is critical for good grade in the class. I got an ez 92 on the first midterm and thought this class as an easy A thus stopped attending for roughly a month. Got a bloody 69 on the second midterm. SO ATTEND A.
Her lectures make sense but she could stand to go over some of the missed concepts more . She's super nice and always answers questions the best she can. Clear lectures, but you don't have to go to every single one. Her tests are kinda weird though. Overall it was a pretty chill class.
I felt like she explained concepts pretty well but not as well as she could have. I got an A without paying any attention in lecture since I'd taken AP Stats, but it sounded like other students were having trouble. She tried to answer questions to the best of her ability, but I think she ended up confusing some kids even more with her answers.
Lowe is very clear, with a structure to every lecture. The textbook was online with Aplia, the program you need to complete the weekly homework. She posts her PowerPoints online before class, although she has iClicker points which means you still need to go to lecture, but not section. She also offers extra credit if you do over 3 SONA study hours.
She was a real sweetheart! She really incorporates pictures of her kids in her lecture, so that was enjoyable. She podcasts her lectures, so if you don't attend class (which I stopped doing after the second midterm), you're fine. Her tests are very detailed-oriented, so really just study the lecture notes and you're solid. Easy A and interesting!
The homeworks can be very hard and time consuming. The first midterm was alright but the second midterm and final was very hard. 3% SONA EC is offered.
She takes attendance within the first five minutes of class and again in the last 10 minutes. You're allowed to miss 5 classes total without it taking a hit on your grade. Uses an app called CourseKey that costs $25 to take attendance and do graded assessments during lecture. homework can be a little hard but midterms are extremely conceptual &hard
She's an excellent, very clear professor. I had never taken Stats before so I felt like I had to work a little harder to understand the homework than my peers, but she posts podcasts/slideshows of her lectures online, which was helpful. Midterms are tricky at times, but it's ok if you bring a good cheat sheet and do the study guide she provides.
The lecture materials can be difficult to understand, but Professor Lowe helps you to understand them very well. She's pretty good at lecturing and helping you get across the main points of the materials. Two midterms and an accumulative final. There are also lab hw which are really easy and are graded based on completion. No need for the textbook.
Lots of lectures that aren't necessarily interesting but she does a good job of explaining all the content. Very generous with extra credit, class curves, and amount of cheat sheets you get for tests. Her tests took some time for me to get used to coming from AP Stats as her's are very conceptual.
Makes you pay $25 for a buggy app that takes attendance every lecture, and makes you pay $100 for Aplia HW access. The HW isn't too difficult but get ready to read - at least one chapter a week, sometimes two. Unnecessarily difficult for a GE.
Very comprehendible lectures. Provides adorable examples from her own kids. The only negative thing is you have to pay $25 for the CourseKey app for attendance and quizzes.
Caring professor. Please feel obliged to read her powerpoint carefully. It contains almost all possible points and knowledge that are going to show up in exams and quizzes.
I feel like I only did well because of AP stats. This class moves fast. Professor Lowe does a good job with the information and podcasts/posts her lectures and slides which is very helpful. Two midterms and a final where you can use cheat sheets. Offers a good amount of extra credit. Need to purchase app and textbook in total $125.
Lowe is a caring professor and is accessible outside of class. She is also very eager to help whenever a student may need. Her tests are fair. I would take the class again. Lecture material can be interesting
her lecture are very clear and organized, just review for the ppt she posted and you will be fine in exams.
She is a very nice professor and definitely willing to help her students. I had never taken stats before and I feel like that was the reason I found the class extremely hard. If you have a background in stats, psyc60 isn't too bad, but if not, prepare to study really hard since the class moves very fast.
very awesome ge and very well explained, interesting material. only multiple choice and true or false quizzes and test and no hw at all, other than sona experiments. attendance is mandatory and she goes through the slides very quickly, but she posts the lecture beforehand. taking notes before class is recommended. easy A and interesting stuff.
Professor Lowe uses CourseKey app and it is not easy to connect to network to do the assessment question and you have to pay 30 dollars. The textbook and homework you also need to purchase for 95 dollars required for only one quarter. I don't know other statistic classes also use this material but it is ridiculously expensive and unnecessary.
Weekly homework assignments. I wouldn't say this is the easiest class since there are some concepts that you must learn in order to do well. At the same time, however, I didn't feel like it was the hardest class. The average grade is a BB- though. So put in the effort and you should be capable of getting an A/A-.
She's very clear with instructions but if you have never taken stats then this class will be hard. There's a new lecture every day and the her tests are conceptual. But there's extra credit opportunities, get decent scores on the homework, go to class and you can get a B! The book is expensive and the app was $25.
Respectable Professor. Took Stats as a Freshmen. With curve managed to get an A+. I never took stats before but slowly did LEARN what she taught. Did I enjoy it? Eh. But if you take time to review her slides and prepare GOOD CHEATSHEETS while studying the test are not too bad. Homework once again takes under 2 hours. But make sure you are learning
It takes a while to get adjusted to Lowe's teaching style, but I realized it's best to review class material both before and after class to grasp it best. The homework is graded and can be difficult, however Lowe is always willing to help if you have any questions and she is very clear in her explanations! She's very kind and lectures aren't boring
The professor is super caring and clear during lectures. She thoroughly explains what she wants you to learn, along with demonstrating several ex. CourseKey is used in this course. She does take attendance every lecture, but you can miss up to five and still be given full credit. Midterms are curved & very simple if you follow along her slides.
She helped me get stats even tho Im awful at math. She gives awesome lectures, podcasts, and is really clear about everything she wants you to learn so studying is kinda easy. I studied a lot for this class and the only thing thats difficult is that she tests on concepts/the logic behind certain formulas but she gives you hella cheat sheets.
I have never taken stats before and after reading these comments I was really nervous about this class, but I can honestly say that Lowe is the reason I enjoy stats. Her lectures are clear, she gives thorough examples, there isn't an excessive amount of hw, and you get cheat sheets for your tests. If you put in the work, you will do well
Amazing professor. Clear speech, simple and logical, easy to understand. As long as you show up and listen and do homework you'll do fine. The only downside is she uses apps/products that require money and are MANDATORY for her class. Takes attendance through app before and after class and during class.
I loved Dr. Lowe! She is so sweet and caring and definitely one of the best profs I have had. Her lectures are always engaging and PSYC105 is very interesting overall, but attendance is not mandatory (podcasted!). Tests are super straightforward and come directly from the slides. Labs are also really easy and interesting. Cool class and prof!
Do not take this class, she does not make her test easy. She tries her hardest to fool you in every way. Not to mention the class goes at an insanely fast rate where it is almost impossible to keep up. Also the homework is based on attempts and its an average of your attempts DON'T TAKE THE CLASS.
There's a lot of information to keep up with, and lectures are a bit hard to follow if you try to catch up on your own. She's very knowledgeable, and I think the course is very interesting (though I am a psych major so that may be bias). She teaches about behavioral neuroscience as well which I enjoyed. Class is based on 9 1 point labs and 2 tests.
Lectures are very fast, but that's cause there's a lot of material to cover in a short amount of time. Taking notes in class is almost impossible, but take notes when she works through problems. She podcasts her lectures. For every exam, practice word problems, it'll pay off for the final (my regret). Go to office hours, she'll help you. Curves.
Professor Lowe was an amazing teacher. She explains concepts really clearly and in a way that everyone understands. She covers a lot of content but if you stay on track and pay attention to every lecture, you'll do fine. She also curves the class and has extra credit opportunities!
Such a sweet lady, sometimes I wish I showed up to lecture more lmao. There's a generous curve and extra credit, and homework assignments/labs that took max 10 minutes to complete made up a part of the grade. She's a great teacher and is very clear/eloquent.
Lectures are super clear. Generous CURVE and EXTRA CREDITS, but exams require thoroughly understanding of concepts.
Loved having her, took AP Stats so wasnt too bad but for a 5 on the AP test my grade doesnt necessarily match that lol, discussion section wasnt mandatory, hw is more challenging than the test, clearly explains what she wants u to know for the test :)
Participation in lectures is recorded with quick learning checks (e.g. a poll on zoom, doesn't matter if you get the question right as long as you try). Very accommodating for students living in different time zones. There is weekly homework for PSYC60 but it helps to solidify concepts. Lectures cover all material in exams, reading textbook helps.
She was such a nice and caring professor! Her exams were really representative of her lectures and she doesn't try to trick you. The examples/clicker questions she provides in the class were really helpful to connect the formulas and the concepts. Weekly homework which wasn't too bad (sometimes the system was picky) but overall great course!
Very great lecturer and discusses everything in detail and does a lot of example questions and quizzes to make sure we understand what's happening in class. Unfortunately, I didn't pay much attention and skipped a few lessons which cost me a C. But will definitely attend one of her courses again and keep in mind what I did wrong last time!
PSYC 193L was the 4th time I took a class with Dr. Lowe, and she is just the best!! The topic was cognition lab, what she specializes in. Everything about teaching is perfect, and she really cares about the students. Never hesitate to ask her for help!
HW graded based on average score. Speeds through lecture despite students asking her to slow down. Tests don't really represent class. Mean score for midterm was D-.
Dr. Lowe is very easy to listen to, and PSYC60 was not hard. It's an intro stats course that is a little concept-heavy. Her lectures are mandatory and fast paced, but her grading is lenient. Out of 10 HW scores, 2 are dropped, and there are 5 allowed absences from lecture (10 more can be made up by discussion, which is usually optional).
I love Professor Lowe. She really knows her stuff and is very eloquent/clear with the delivery of lecture content. Her exams can be challenging especially with the free response but her exams are super fair. Her lectures are so worth going to and I loved cognitive psych. She's great; take her class!!
Definitely a great professor! Presenting clear and organized lectures (perfect combination of definition and examples). Always caring and accessible outside the class, replying every email I sent to her. Although the content may be a little bit hard and the midterm is not easy; however, the other tests are pretty fair and have a good grading scale!
Lowe is an amazing teacher. Her class ended up being harder than I thought but I thought AP Stats would guide me through it, but is a little different. If you study and go to class and do the homework, you can get a good grade. There is no surprises.
If youre looking for a gen Ed class, dont take this one. Lowe makes it unbelievably hard by purposely tricking her students on exams, I had to study more for this class than OCHEM and Im still getting the average on every test. Curves the avg to B but you could get an A in any stats cc class. Cant wait till this class is over
Had a great experience with Professor Angela Lowe. Her lecture is clear and straightforward. There are also extra credit opportunities. However, homework is based on average grades, which is annoying. Although the exam is hard, she gives chichi and practices exams and she will curve at the end. Some exam question is also based on homework.
There are two midterms and one final, the class average was a D on both midterms. She says that the class is curved, but the curve does not reflect the class, it is a predetermined number!! BEWARE!! My friend in this class said it was harder than O-Chem. The professor seems like a nice person, but the class is extremely difficult. Good luck!
Stay away from this class, Lowe is the laziest professor, does not give solutions to ANY problems and does the bare minimum for being a professor. It's impossible to learn in this class, at the SI MIDTERM reviews nobody knew what the hell was going on. Stay away!
The tests are very hard, lots of material to cover, section is optional. Super nice professor, very smart, and has helpful office hours. There is some extra credit and the class is curved.
Dr. Lowe is amazing! Highly recommend taking any class from her. PSYC70 can be hard at times, but she is happy to answer questions and help you!! Class has a clear structure. Can miss 4 lectures w/o a penalty on grade. Weekly homework due Sunday. It is vital attending lectures because the class is content-heavy. Lots of computations. Great class!
Prof. Lowe is an amazing teacher. Her content is very well portrayed and she seems to really care about the topics being taught. She incorporates her family into a lot of the lectures which is a nice break from constant research stats. The slides are very word heavy which can be overwhelming to study. The three exams make up almost whole grade.
Professor Lowe is super sweet and nice. PSYC 60 as a whole lends itself to being a boring class, so it's a bit of a struggle to pay attention in mandatory lecture. Tests are super fair and representative of lecture content. Homework is a bit hard and tedious, but doable. Take professor Lowe for PSYC60 if you have the chance.
Professor Lowe was very supportive and understanding throughout the quarter, and I enjoyed learning from her. That being said, the entire class average for both of the first midterms was a failing grade before the curve. I feel it is unnecessarily difficult and the exams could have better tested our knowledge.
Dr. Lowe is god sent. She was the most amazing professor that has ever taught me here at UCSD. I had no experience with statistics whatsoever. She literally goes out of her way to help you out. This class however is challenging and requires practice and studying, but if you attend lecture regularly and go to office hours you should be fine.
Professor Lowe's lectures are really good, logical, detailed and comprehensive. The exams are a bit difficult, but as long as you go to office hour more often and complete the practice test, you will be fine.
She is amazing! I am horrible at statistics and was worried I wouldn't pass the class, but I did! There is usually 1-2 homework assignments per week due on Sunday, and they are super helpful! Her lectures are vital to understanding the material. Discussions are not mandatory, I did not go to one, but passed the class!
I would NOT recommend taking this class. Grade is based on 2 midterms and 1 CUMULATIVE final. Homework is only 10% of grade. Exam outlines are PAGES long and even if you memorize everything, it is hard to apply it to exam. The average for both exams was a 73% so that should say something. Exams and overall class grading format need to be adjusted.
Professor Lowe is awesome! She explains topics in a very digestible way and gives examples without being too drawn out.
The lectures are very dense and she goes through material quickly. Our grade is based on online assignments, 2 midterms, and a cumulative final. The exam questions are not always representative of lectures and averages on exams were really low.
Lowe is an amazing professor! She explains course material as clearly as possible and really wants to make statistics (a boring topic) interesting. Going into the class I was nervous as I had never taken HS stats before, but class if usually heavily curved and for the final, even if I didn't show up and got a 0, my grade would have been a B-.
I love her lectures. There is a lot of information, she gives study guides and practice tests. Regardless, the averages on the tests are somewhat lower and tests are somewhat more difficult than the practice prepares you for. With a lot of studying , you will be fine. I did learn a lot and she is really sweet and knowledgeable :)
Probably the best professor I've ever had. She is so passionate, funny, and inspiring. There is a lot of information during each lecture so keep up. Not an easy class for sure, I learned so much. Would take any class taught by her.
Professor Lowe's class can be difficult at times, but assistive resources are readily available. You have access to slides before class, she provides study guides and practice tests for exams, you're allowed cheat sheets for exams, and the lectures are very helpful and informational as long as you're paying attention. Take good notes!
shes a really great professor but the material is hard to comprehend and the exams are even harder. i love the way she teaches though so if you have a love for stats shes definitely an awesome professor. shes also very attentive and helpful when it comes to providing resources for studying and all that
Although this is not a very easy course and there is a large amount of content, this professor is amazing and gives great explanations/examples. It's clear she wants students to succeed.
Very content heavy class, but lectures are very clear, it just takes time to really understand the concepts. You're allowed cheat sheets on every exam, and I would highly recommend making them as the exams questions can sometimes seem more difficult than you'd expect (weirdly worded questions). Overall nice prof, would recommend. Class is curved.
Take prof lowe if you can! shes a great teacher and i wish i started going to office hours sooner! beware tho she doesnt round grades so don't count of that to save your grade.... she does curve tho!
Professor Lowe is awesome! I was worried about this class because I'm not great at math, but as long as you pay attention, do the homework, try practice problems, and create good cheat sheets you'll be perfectly fine. She allows one cheat sheet for exam 1, two for exam 2, and three for the final. She also has a bunch of extra credit (up to 4%).
Shes an amazing person and lecturer. I don't pay attention during class but I definitely rewatch it in my own time. She is clear when teaching. Exams are difficult because of the conceptual wording. VERY CONCEPT HEAVY BTW. But the computational is easy. It is not easy class but you will pass if you put in mid effort.
I found PSYC60 to be a super easy class and she was a great lecturer. Went over stuff in a lot of detail and breaks down complex concepts really well. You're allowed a lot of study sheets for exams and she gives great practice exams. Very approachable and was super helpful with some random grading issue that came up.
This professor is somewhat ok but this year's TA and IA are absolute trash. It is literally a waste of time when going to exam sessions they create because of how extremely disorganized they are, even they don't what they are teaching. GET BETTER TA's & IA's In TEACHING THE CONCEPTS PLEASE TO BETTER PREPARE US FOR THE EXAMS!!!
Professor Lowe is great, be prepared to hear a lot about her kids. Although lecture attendance isn't mandatory it is highly recommended just because of the attendance quizzes and how material heavy this class is. DO ALL THE HW because it really does help you and your grade in the end. AMAZING CURVE, be prepared to put the work in though.
mentioned over and over that a particular concept is NOT gonna be on the test, but shows up on the test.
Professor Lowe is super caring; her lectures are engaging. The exams for mts are multiple choices, for the final is multiple choices + short answers. I got about 80 on the final, yet I still got an A+ because I did well on the MTS. Tons of extra credit, basically curve most ppl in the A range to an A+.
Class was recorded. 2 midterm, but felt like lots of trick questions. Other little assignments, but grade mostly based on exams. Great lectures. She is curving so thats really nice.
Kind professor, but her lectures are kind of hard to follow and we had homework graded for accuracy. The tests and final were difficult but she did grade the class on a curve which was nice.
I LOVE Professor Lowe! She really cares about your success. Super understanding, has great study guides, and lectures are very engaging and help with exams. I never went to discussion sections, and found the class to be pretty easy. Homework is long, so I recommend starting it early. Make sure to go to office hours the second you're confused!
Dr. Lowe is such a wonderful person, but her teaching style relies VERY heavily on exams and there is very little you can do to make up for it if you don't do well on an exam. In my experience, the wording on the exams was extremely confusing and frankly, I do not think her course is graded fairly as a result.
She is an amazing professor who really knows her stuff. She does not stutter and is really clear in every concept that she teaches; she gives great examples and everything is straight forward. However, the exams are hard but fair. She knows the field of Psychology like the palm of her hand.
She is a very kind, knowledgeable professor. Her classes are interactive and she uses many examples of her kids which is fun. The tests are harder and some of the questions are confusing but very representative of the material. As long as you put time and effort into knowing the lectures for the exams you should be good!
Frankly Professor Lowe made a fairly straightforward topic extremely confusing. Her class became a huge pain because if you aren't good at test taking, you're out of luck. I wouldn't take her again.
Tests are difficult
Lowe is a caring professor! However, she overcomplicated stats, so if you're not experienced in math or stats, you gotta work extra hard in her class, especially on the tedious/long homework's. She teaches this course for students who already have knowledge in stats. Lowe was very kind and approachable to ask for help still!!
Lowe's class is challenging but rewarding. Her lectures move quickly, so staying on top of the material is key. Using unstuck study alongside the textbook and practice problems really helped me excel. Overall, a worthwhile course if you're willing to put in the work.
Great teacher, records lectures, offers many office hours and TA sections. Class is very content-heavy, so be ready to understand a lot. She goes fast in lectures, so you always have to pay attention.
never personally talked to her but she seemed nice but mandatory attendance was really annoying especially when she went so fast i could barely take notes. she is a good teacher though. class was decently hard but i only started putting in a lot of effort at the end and the curve basically saved everyone - i went from D to A
Very thoroughly explains class material in a way that is easy to understand. Class moves very fast because of a lot of material. Easy if you've taken AP stats in the past. Allows cheat sheets for whatever u want for the midterms and final.
Professor Lowe is kind and caring to her students. She brings up fun facts or stories about her kids. She provides many extra credit opportunities and the curve is amazing. Statistics itself is challenging, but as long as you keep up with the course and attend office hours for help you'll do great! Also allowed up to 3 cheat sheets for exams.
Professor Lowe is incredible! You can tell she's a great person outside of being a professor- she cares about her students. Lecture-heavy and weekly homework. 2 midterms and a cumulative final. Content can be hard but her lectures really do help. You can miss up to 5 classes and discussions are optional. She's such a great professor!!
Her personality is cool but idk, her class in general was tough. It honestly doesn't feel like it was an INTRO class
Very nice professor but, the exams were very hard. the first 2 midterms were multiple choice and the class averages for both were around 50%. questions did not reflect the material well. full letter cheat sheets for midterms and allows for up to 6% extra credit. LE mandatory (canvas quiz code) but gives you some misses. discussions not mandatory.
She's a very nice professor! Though I did bad on both of her midterms, I did ok on the final, attended all of her lectures for the participation points, did SONA and all the extra credit she gave out, and my average hw scores were 94%. Very conceptual and definitely requires effort to pass. But the curve is SUPER generous!
Very nice professor, I would take her again but not for statistics. I'm not very good at math but her class was fun. beware exams are hard but she allows cheat sheets and there is a curve + EC. You do have to spend around $100 for the online HW + Textbook. You get 6 class misses before it affects your grade. Discussion sections aren't mandatory
She's a great professor—super passionate and eager to teach! The class itself was honestly pretty tough, I wouldn't really call it an intro course. I really struggled on the midterms but did well on the final after LOTS of studying. The content is conceptual and requires work outside of class. She offers extra credit and curves generously though!
Dr. Lowe breaks down her lecture into short, concise point so we can understand them well. She is very caring and willing to answer any questions, inside and outside of class. Office Hours is very chill and you will get a lot from that. Exam is not so hard if you go to class and study well before the class. Would take again.
This was the worst most evil class I have ever taken. She just moves super fast and explains things in a very roundabout way that makes it hard for neurodivergent students to keep up. However, she is very understanding and will make time for 1:1 meetings with students AND curves the grade. Not enough though because I still failed the class...
Dr. Lowe is a very sweet professor and explains the material well. This class overall is just HARD. The weekly HW would honestly take me a while and I often had to rewatch lectures bc it got pretty confusing w/ the fast pace. You get cheat sheets on all exams, EC, HW grades are averaged, discussions not mandatory, and overall curve at the end.
