Very knowledgable teacher however very difficult. Tests are 60 points multiple choice 40 points essay. Any information that has steps make sure you learn b/c u will see it again. Stickler for arriving on time if u r 1 min late she counts u absent even if u take the quiz or test ??GO FIGURE??? A& P is a hard class already Would not take her again.
Don't take her!!! I worked my butt off and still didn't make an A. I memorized a bunch of steps in processes to regurgitate it to her. Didn't learn the important things due to trying to memorize for her. I took different instructors for BIO 142 and did MUCH better!!!!!! Take Dr. Mitchell and Mrs. Sourbeer!
SUPER WONDERFUL FANTASTIC TEACHER !!!!
She is a hard teacher but you will definitely learn everything you need to know by taking her class.
You will know your A&P when you are finished with her class.
She is tough but will makeyou learn by giving you weekly quizes in lecture and lab. She keeps lecture and lab pretty close together so it helps a lot! Shwe won't let you slack but if you are a procrastinator she is great for keeping you on track! Plus she invites you to any of her labs to get extra lab time.
Great teacher, Bio141 is a hard class, you have to study hard. She gives you all the notes about 4 - 5 pages a night. notes are exactly what is on the quizes and test, you can get an A if you study. wish she was teachn 142 this summer I'd take her. Marks you absent if u r 3 -5 minutes late but she still allows you to stay for class, Great Teacher
Awesome instructor !! I learned an amazing amount of info. Miss Mason explains things thoroughly and tells you exactly what to know for tests it's a whole lot of info but no surprises. I love her teaching style !! Thanks :)
Miss Mason is a wonderful teacher and even though A & P is a ton of material, she makes it fun and easy to understand. If you're taking this class, definitely take it with her!
AWESOME!! I will be taking her again for A&P 142. You must be willing to work, her class is not easy by any means. But I have learn more in this class than a lot of students in other classes. SO GLAD I had her this semester.
I am an average student, but I finished with an A in her class. She actually teaches you the things you will need to know to further your education. A great building block for bio 142. She keeps things funny and that helped ease the stress. If I need another Bio class, I will definitely take Miss Mason's class.
Angela's class was great! She was tough but very fair and always covered the material completely. I take any class of hers any time...
The subject matter is very tough but she does a great job making sure we know the info.
I had Mrs. Mason for 141 and 142. I wish she had taught 142 lab. She is a great teacher because she knows so much and is able to answer any question you have. It is true that what you put into this class is what you get out. She is very organized and her the way she teaches is easy to get use to. Overall she is the best teacher I have ever had
Would not have taken 142 right after 141 if Ms. Mason was not available. She makes the class fun to attend - if fun is even an adjective that should be associated with A&P. She's what a college professor should be - fair, honest, knowledgeable etc. But mostly she makes you learn the material. (in a good way)Highly recommend!
Miss Mason is an excellent teacher. She is very good about making sure everyone understands the material. She is also very quick to respond to emails if you have questions or concerns. She also does an awesome job preparing you for her tests. I had Miss Mason for BIO 141 and 142 and I couldn't have asked for better teacher.
Awesome professor! Quiz in class weekly. Lecture: outline format, take your own notes. Strength: her ability to break down a concept and rebuild it for students during lecture. You definately understand the material when she is finished. Tests are in class and regular; strong study guide. If you can take her class, you should!
Very hard. Wants to help. But if you don't do well all you hear is change study habbits.. even when the class as a whole is not doing well.
Mrs Mason was a great professor. Test and quizzes are straight from the lecture notes. No surprises. Would highly recommend her!
I took Professor Mason for A&P 141. She a great teacher she tries to keep the class fun. she gives you a lot of notes but tests strait from her notes. If you have any questions she is more than willing to answer them and make you understand. A&P is a hard class and no matter what requires a lot of studying. She also gives a lot of extra credit.
Miss Mason is a wonderful teacher! I took her class in the summer, so it was extra hard, but she made sure you knew what you were talking about. She encourages you to be able to teach the material to someone else who had no knowledge of it. Her study techniques are very helpful and as long as you pay attention and take notes you will not be behind!
Avoid this professor even if it means waiting a semester to get this class. Take Mitchell or Sourbeer if you want an actual teacher, not an automated teach bot.
i had her for lab and lecture. for lecture, i loved her. she was very clear with what she expects, and what you will be tested on. for lab, i liked her, but there are other professors who walk students through everything, which is what i prefer. she left you alone to figure out what is what. however, she is def there if you are stumped.
I had Ms. Mason in 2008 for A&P.If you are going into NURSING you cannot go wrong with Ms. Mason. I can remember things from her lecture 2yrs ago. You WILL USE the A&P especially in the 2nd yr.of nursing school. Learn it now and don't forget U will use it and be expected to know it and there is no review!Thankfully I remember a lot from Ms.Mason:)
I love miss Mason. She is a really great teacher. I had her for lecture and everything she goes over in class is what is on her test. She makes her own tests so all the wording is the same. The biggest thing about her class is to take notes. Test questions come directly from them.
Ms. Mason is a wonderful teacher! She definitely knows what she's talking about, and is very thorough and informative. I would recommend her without hesitation to anyone. Quizzes every week, so make sure you study. The tests are straightforward if you pay attention in class and take good notes. Take her class if you have the opportunity! :)
This is the absolute worst professor you can take. Her classes are always open because everybody knows how bad she is. If you want to FAIL and retake this class again go for it - you will take an ESSAY QUIZ every week and have her tell you to "make more time to study" when you ask for help go for it. Too many false ++'s below don't believe it.
I Love Miss Mason, she is hard but very fair and she makes you learn, you will walk away knowing what you need to know, she is a lot of fun too! I highly recommend her
She is a great teacher. Ignore the negative comments. A&P is a VERY demanding class - and she delivers the material well. There is no easy way to pass A&P - you absolutely have to study like you never have before - BUT IF you do the work and study as she very well explains, you will earn your A. Make up tricks to help your memory!
I Took Mrs. Mason for 141 and 142. She is a great teacher much more helpful than many other professors. If you expect to get an A and not work for it then maybe you should consider another career choice. A&P is a hard class and requires many hours of study no matter what teacher you take. She tests from her notes and tells you what to study.
Miss Mason is wonderful! Super friendly, funny, helpful, and a great professor. Her teaching style is great. She's not easy, but she makes it clear what she expects so she's not unreasonable either. Her lectures are very organized and she stays on task but is always willing to help clarify if you're confused. I loved class with her!
Miss Mason is very smart and very organized. You do have to work to keep up. Don't miss class, take tons of notes, and study hard. It's not easy but you do learn a lot! I've heard you'll need it before taking BIO142.
Miss Mason was a fantastic teacher. You must go to class and take notes but she is very clear on her expectations and is very fair in her grading!
enjoyed her class. she is a very good teacher.
Ms Mason is very knowledgeable on the material and is very clear when she speaks. The problem is she makes you take your own notes and speaks very fast. She has a lazy way of teaching, minimal chalk board teaching and tells you not to use the book because it's too confusing. So if you don't write fast enough or record what she says you lose!
Overall a very great teacher. Notes are in outline format. She only gives handouts for notes on occasion but otherwise her lecture is easy enough to follow on your own and goes along right with the textbook. The textbook is only really needed for supplement note taking and is a HUGE help on the online quizzes each week. Strongly recommend her class
Ms.Mason is very smart she is so smart she expects for you to know the material before she teaches it. Well organized, she gives 2-3 quizzes a week a they are short answer NO multiple choice. If you take this class you will need a tutor and study groups.
Take lots of notes. Her quizzes are from her notes and her short answer question on her test come from the quizzes so save them. Great class, you MUST be very organized and I highly recommend you record her class because she does talk fast, although I didn't for 141. The people who didn't like her, or do well, probably shouldn't be in health care.
Had her for 141 and had to take her for 142. Got an A both times and was happy I didn't have to take the final. Very clear in her expectations. 142 had more hand out for notes but still should record the lectures.
MRS MASON IS AN EXCELLENT TEACHER. VERY HELPFUL AND WANTS TO MAKE SURE YOU DO WELL. NOT AN EASY A COURSE SO IF YOU WANT AN A YOU WILL HAVE TO WORK FOR IT. BUT YOU WILL KNOW THE MATERIAL. WEEKLY QUIZES AND ONLINE HW ARE VERY HELPFUL FOR THE EXAMS. TOOK HER FOR 142 & 142 AND IM SO GLAD I DID ! WOULD DEFINITELY RECCOMMEND HER 10 TIMES OVER ..
Had Ms. Mason for lecture and found her to be an great teacher! Always willing to help. She makes her expectations clear from day one. There are short essay quizzes once a week, which later appear as short answers on the tests. All tests are straight from the notes. Weekly pre-quizzes that combined count as an exam grade at the end of semester.
Ms. Mason was an excellent lab teacher. She starts the lesson going over the material and giving hints and tips. Then she lets you get into everything. She walks around to answer questions and quiz students until they are familiar with the models. Homework is not technically mandatory, but does count as extra credit towards the quizzes.
Ms. Mason is a wonderful teacher. She makes it very clear what you need to study in order to do well in her class. She is extremely helpful and very organized. She will go the extra mile to help you understand and learn the material. There are weekly quizzes that will help you a great deal with the tests. I can't recommend her more highly.
Excellent teacher, fair grader, made tough material learner-friendly.
Mason is a nice lady but doesn't really teach. She makes her class a lot harder than it needs to be. She just sits there in lab and doesn't explain anything just makes you do everything on your own. A little guidance would've been nice. She also takes a very long time to grade the practicals.
Just had an excellent semester in her class! Taking notes during her lectures is very easy and she presents the materials in a very organized manner. What you go over for notes is exactly what she tests you on in the exams. She always keeps things fun and interesting every class. Can't recommend her enough!
Mason was great. Very clear, short answer quiz every tuesday on what you covered the previous week. If you review your notes and go to class, no problem. Tests are half short answer (which come from quizzes) and half MC. Quick to return grades, very fair teacher. I would recommend
Ms. Mason is a great instructor. She is very clear and organized and quick to get grades back. She tests straight from her notes- no surprises. She gave a quiz every week in both lecture and lab. I highly recommend her!
Mrs. Mason is an awesome teacher; Her in class quizzes and practicals can be tough if you don't study her notes exactly. I recommend to take very thorough notes and study them, and you will pass.
Ms. Mason is an awesome teacher! She is always enthusiastic to teach class and explains the subject very well. She makes you want to come to class and hear what she has to say. Just do the work, study hard and listen and it will be the best anatomy class ever!
Ms. Mason is a brilliant teacher! She knows A&P inside & out. She's an excellent orator. She has a melodious booming voice & great inflection. She adeptly explains complex concepts in simple terms. She's cheerful, highly organized, & posts grades lightning-fast. Tests & quizzes are tough but fair - nothing tricky. She gives lots of extra credit.
Mrs. Mason was a wonderful instructor. Her lessons were easy to understand, and she was very helpful with any questions that I had. I plan on taking her again in the fall.
I had Ms. Mason for lab and lecture. Don't skip class, use a recorder if you have a hard time keeping up with your notes, GO TO OPEN LAB (as she strongly suggests) She gives plenty of chances for extra credit, be prepared and participate. I will take her again for 142.
Ms. Mason gives a weekly quiz each week that is completely free write, so you either know the information or you don't. However, her tests comprise of information given in her notes and study guide. As long as you take the time to memorize the notes and processes, you'll do fine.
Awesome teacher! Give you extra credit, you do have quizzes every week but the quizzes are almost always on the exam! Really helps you out with anything you need! Best part about this class if you get an A you don't have to take the final! This class was very rigorous but Ms. Mason made it enjoyable!
Great professor for AP, breaks down info, only lectures important, testable material. Hand out fill in blank notes cover all possible info on tests, don't really need book. Weekly quiz, open ended, 10pt, 2EC. Occasional case study HW, Tests mult. choice, quiz questions, EC. Wish I had her for lab. NEED TO STUDY, AP is not easy but great teacher.
Weekly quizzes (short answer); test are multiple choice and short answer (similar to quizzes); book is not required for lecture, but access to online mastering program is; lab manual is required for lab; homework & extra credit Ms. Mason is great! She provides everything you need to succeed but you must put in the work!! & be on time!
Ms. Mason has a pretty clear-cut lecturequiztest structure. I had her for NAS2 and BIO141, and I am taking her again for 142. If you follow along her syllabus, do the weekly quizzes and actually come to class (hello!), you will do fine. She is also very nice and helpful, but you need to be proactive about yourself. She also give plenty of EC.
She's an okay teacher. Lecture is kinda confusing. She gives out outlines but the answers to the blanks are not on the textbook or powerpoint, u have to get it through her lecture. She doesn't really guide u in lab. You and your group are on your own. Her tests are tough sometimes. Too many content to go over in 8 weeks.
Ms. Mason is really good at explaining the material. This is a class that you need to put a lot of time and work into, but if you do what she tells you, you will get an A.
From day one you have to give your 100% full attention and you're sure to succeed. The material is not difficult just a lot to know. However Ms. Mason made it manageable by simplifying the lectures, as she is very knowledgeable of the material covered. She is very helpful. Gives opportunities for extra credit, and to pass test. Study! Study! Study!
Ms. Mason is very knowledgeable, I took her for both BIO 141 lecture and lab. You have to pay attention from the get go and she gives you clear expectations. She does give a lot of extra credit opportunities in lab & lecture. I think she was good for lab, she isn't going to hold your hand this IS a college course, but always willing to help you
Amazing professor! Quizzes every week & 4 tests total, but if you study the study guide she provides, you will pass with an A! & NO final if you have an A after test 4! Would def take her again!
Ms. Mason is nice and VERY knowledgeable about A&P, but a seriously TOUGH grader. You'll need to work for an A. That said, I do feel I really learned the material because of her tough grading. Weekly quizzes were a big pain but made studying for exams/practicals much easier. I recommend her and would definitely take her again.
Ms Mason was a great choice for 141, she makes you learn the material in a way that helps you retain the information that you'll need for 142. It wasn't an easy A for me, I had to work at it but her outlines and lectures help clarify the difficult concepts. Quizzes are short answer and tests are multiple choice and short answer from the quizzes
Professor Mason is such a great professor-- I had her for lab. She really cares about her students. AP is NOT an easy class (no matter who the professor is) but if you study then you will pass. Be prepared to show up to each lab because you have quizzes every class. She does drop one.
She does really well explaining the material. This class is fast paced but it is preparing you for anatomy and physiology. She is very helpful and gives extra credit.
Ms. Mason's class is not a walk in the park, you have to work for the grade. Make sure you go to open lab, it'll be one of the main reasons you pass, however after she feels like she's done she spends her time conversing and joking around with the students which was not very helpful for me. I don't recommend taking her unless you've had her before!
All quizzes are essay based every week. Tests are 60% multiple choice 40% essay. She is a great teacher but makes things way to complicated. Half her class has already been in it at least once. It's a hard class but TCC could do things to make the pass rate higher than 50%. Take it at TNCC.
Make sure you go to open lab - you will not pass without it. Quizzes are short answer based on the previous week, and tests are multiple choice and short answer. She gives plenty of extra credit opportunity and is available for help after class if needed. Make sure you are prepared to put in the work for the grade you want!
Very specific on what she wants on her tests and quizzes, but gives good notes. If you study and put the time in then your grades will show it. Ask questions on her tests if you're unsure.
Mason is a great teacher and is willing to help. This is a really hard class with a ton of information. Just be ready to study your butt off for the grade you want.
Great Teacher, with good clear lectures. But don't get me wrong, you've got to do the work for your grade.
Ms. Mason has a lot of subject matter to cover in one semester so I understand why she goes very quickly over the material. In order to keep up with the material in between tests there is a quiz every week over the subject matter covered and that helps with studying and retaining the info for the tests. Attendance and promptness are a MUST.
There was a lot of content to cover in such a short time, but Professor Mason is very thorough. She is very knowledgeable, but she is also a tough grader. She wants to make sure that you understand every detail. Be ready to write. Phenomenal lectures, very detailed. Mason knows how to manipulate the content so that you are able to understand it.
You have to work hard for her class. But she wont surprise you with quizzes and other HW. She makes things pretty clear for you. And send you emails to remind you. I did well in her class.
She made this class entirely harder than it had to be. Every week there's a quiz on what we learned. 2 mid terms and final. Her assignments, quiz, test are written and you have to be very descriptive with your words or it is marked WRONG! Her lecture is long and boring & the notes are somewhat confusing. Oh and if you're 3 mins late to class ABSENT
Ms. Mason is such a wonderful teacher! Her lectures are very fast-paced, so I recommend you record during. You have a quiz every week but don't worry they all prepare you for the test and ensure that you're looking through your notes instead of procrastinating before the test! She gives study guides for the test which are SO helpful.
Amazing teacher! Her notes give you all you the information you need for her quizzes and tests. The study guides that she post tell you everything you need to know for the tests. If you put the work into this class, like you should in any other class you will do good! She responds to emails very quick with is such a good thing. I highly recommend!!
Ms. Mason was a wonderful teacher! She knows her material and is there to help you in any way possible. I had her for NAS 2 also and passed the class with flying colors due to her awesome notes and study guides that she makes for her classes. Her quizzes and test in BIO 141, are all in your notes. There is no surprise material that you haven't seen
Mason was great. Yes, she is a tough grader. But here is the deal, this class is a hard class and she wants to make sure we all know the material like the back of our hand. Quiz every week, 2-3 mid terms, and a final. She makes it known what she is looking for on quizzes/test. She also has a great personality and is easy to converse with!!
I had her for Lab, wish I had her for lecture too. She's fun and is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I didn't do the best in her lab though due to alot of personal issues but I still passed, glad it's only 40% of my overall grade. If I were to retake, I'd have her for both lecture and lab.
I had Professor Mason for BIO 142 lab and my experience with her was great! She's a great lab instructor who genuinely enjoys teaching. Lab quizzes are all short answer/identification, with 2 pts EC each quiz if you highlight structures for the following weeks lab in the book. Definitely go to open lab to study before the quizzes/practicals! Easy A
Class is tough. Labs are pretty much self-run and going to open lab outside of class is necessary. Funny but wish she spent more time teaching the material. A lot of quizzes that are short, so grading is tough. Practicals are long and sometimes tricky.
Ms. Mason is a good teacher and really knows her information. But she is a really tough grader and attendance really counts. You have a quiz every single week in lecture AND lab based on packets and packets of notes with endless information to memorize. I worked my butt off to end with an 89.4 and she wouldn't raise it to an A.
There are things she refused to teach us that she then tested us on. She rude to most people who asked questions and got annoyed at those who asked her to repeat things.
Hilarious and engaging. Quizzes are tough but she drops lowest grade and there are so many opportunities for extra credit. Answers emails quickly. Allows students with A avg to skip final. Not an easy teacher but I think it was worth it because class was fun.
Took her for lab and lecture 141/142. Form a group and study with them. Have a group chat for your entire class for questions. If you can answer her study guide, you can pass her tests. She's extremely specific in her tests and quizzes! She's tough, but because of it, i know my stuff. Very difficult A, but no final if you have it.
She has two separate accounts on here in which she is rated. On the other page, she is an overall quality rating of 3.6 with a difficulty level of 4.6. I believe that rating is FAR more accurate than this one. Check the other reviews and compare the two. You're welcome.
She is a hard grader, spelling counts if a word is missed spelled the answer is incorrect.
I had Mason for 142 lecture. She gives study guides that tell you everything you'll need to know for the tests. There is a short answer quiz every week and the tests are multiple choice with some short answers. She also gives study guides for each chapter but I found it easier to use the textbook instead. Overall she's a good teacher. READ THE BOOK
The content of this class is tough, however, Ms Mason realizes that fact and makes learning the content achievable if you follow her directions. Biggest pitfall in the class is NOT reading the question thoroughly.
I didn't like the way she taught. all her quizzes were short answer. she would give you a "study guide" for the test and almost all the things she tells you to study isn't on the test. one of the worst teachers I've ever experienced.
She is just awful! short answer quiz every week and only 3 tests. If you don't give her exactly what she wants on her short answer quizzes its wrong. reads straight from her power points/ outlines. I would NOT recommend her.
I have taken this course before and barely made a C but after taking her class, I received a better understanding due to her teaching style. I highly recommend taking if you are serious about the medical field. Her weekly quizzes force you to study as you go instead of trying to cram at the last minute and she provides study guides for her exams.
Excellent professor/very engaged in the student's learning experience. You have a quiz every week in lecture/ lab, which at times seem burdensome, but it really helps when you are preparing for your lecture exams/ lab practicals. I really enjoyed the assignments and she has opportunities for EC. I definitely recommend her and would take her again.
You have to actually show up and be present during lecture and lab. I had her for both, and as long as you do the work and turn everything in you will pass. Definitely have to study every night or a couple hours a couple nights a week. Would definitely take her again for BIO142
Make sure to study. Short answer quiz every week. As long as you find time to study though you should be good. Coming from a guy with a newborn at home.
Ms. Mason was an awesome professor! It's in your best interest to come to lecture. This helps to piece the notes together. Also, you will be studying but you will earn the grade you want based on the energy you put into the class! I would definitely take her again if I could.
Mason is the one of the best professors here at TCC. Passionate, genuine, & extremely educated. Fantastic teaching style (rewatch her lectures!). Thoroughly prepares you for exams, esp. w weekly quizzes. Do all the work and I promise youll have a robust understanding of A&P (which is immensely helpful for HESI/TEAS). Can't recommend her enough.
Great teacher, you have to be present (not only in attendance) to pass.
Ms. Mason is a very lecture heavy teacher- she reads straight from PowerPoints. Its okay if you do, but not everyone learns that way. Gives many options for extra credit, but only up to 5 on a test. Quizzes are always short answer and very strict on grading. Try to take this class with easy classes- lots of studying!! Pass or fail, no letter grade
Her lectures and test material are straight forward. Her tests are split between multiple choice and short answer (responses can be writing heavy). If you pay attention in class and put forth the effort to review for the tests there won't be any issue getting an A.
Gives notes to follow during lectures. Memorize/Regurgitate these onto weekly open answer quiz. Quiz questions reused for test so know them even if you bombed quiz. Take her lab- weekly practical quizzes help prepare for real thing. Tedious A, take w/ light load. Caring/flexible if she sees genuine ambition. Mason is friendly & easy to talk to.
Ms. Mason is very approachable with questions. You'll have short answer quizzes every week, but they prepare you for exams very well. Lots of fine details, but she gives partial credit and explains why you missed questions. She also grades things usually by the next class. You need to study at least 20 hours to pass and more if you want an A.
BIO141 is a difficult class, but Ms. Mason made it easier to understand. Attend her class, do your homework and study, study & study more! I would probably make it to an A if I wasn't doing 6 credits of graduate courses that needed a lot of effort. She is an amazing professor! A TCC's treasure!
Ms. Mason utilizes power points, visual demonstrations, and hands on lab activities to present academic material. She lectures in a way that allow students to scribe additional notes alongside the outlines that she provides. Her tests does not allow for verbatim regurgitation, but requires thorough understanding and application of concepts.
Ms. Mason is funny and approachable. If you're a visual learner her notes do not include visual aids, but if you ask she'll give you corresponding figure numbers to each section. Weekly quizzes help you study towards the exam. Do not hesitate to ask her for help. If the pandemic is over when you plan to take this, go to open lab!
Ms. Mason is THE BEST! Her class is not for the faint of heart, you will have to put in work and study a TON. With that being said, Ms. Mason does an amazing job of being sure her students have the tool to succeed and is always available for any questions and help she can provide. I cannot wait to take her fro BIO142 in the fall!
Mrs. Mason is a wonderful teacher, and I loved every second of her class! She has weekly quizzes that are short answer, but if you study, you'll do great! Definitely do not procrastinate, ask questions, email her, and take initiative. You'll do great if you keep all those in mind!
She knows her stuff and is very lively and teaches well. She provides outlines to study for the tests but the due dates for lab and lecture tests and quizzes are not practical if you have a job or are taking a full course load. You are given a quiz once a week on 2-5 pages of notes and a quiz 2 days later on a weeks worth of lab. Very rigorous.
Lectures do not narrow on material being tested. Study quizzes as most questions are recycled for test. She doesn't provide much explanation outside of the what the book states, YT is your friend. During lecture over uses a transition phrase that is very distracting. Do not take if you are working a full time job, heavy workload and must study!
i have never rated an professor but this has to be out there; The Professor is very nit-picky when it comes to grading. Lectures are great and full of information, not bad either at explaining things. DO NOT TAKE FOR LAB ONLINE, lab is something that needs to be done in-person or zoom syc. Anatomy information is VERY heavy and very hard to study !!!
Shes a great lecturer and does let you know what will be on tests and quizzes (kind of). However, she is the worst when it comes to grading!!! Expects very detailed answers to questions on test and quizzes but doesnt give you nearly enough time to answer them!!! No extra credit offered either
Mason has some great lecture videos available for lab that I found super helpful. Unfortunately there were only a couple and most practicals were just based on the lab booklet. Some questions were fuzzy slides that I couldn't really identify. Practicals are HARD and unreasonable in my opinion. I did find her to be helpful though.
Ive had Mason for NAS2, BIO141 and BIO142. Very strict with grading, will dock you .25 or .50 points for not mentioning one word or missing the tiniest information. There are weekly quizzes that are all short answer. Her practicals cover 3/4 chapters. I didnt want to take her again for 142 but didnt have a choice.
Ms. Mason is a very hard going person. I should've dropped her when I read " I own a beach house but hate the sun." She is not easy going, she claims she knows when you're cheating because it takes you 5 mins to think about a question or answer. She barley gives homework, just a lot of test taking and expect you to memorize everything she posted.
Quizzes are short answered so you have to understand inside/out, but tests are part multiple choice. Two quizzes per week ( one for lab, one for lecture) so make sure you have a steady routine. She is reliable and will answer emails not long after you message her.
She was not helpful at all. Never take this class online. I appreciate teachers that are understanding and that is not her. I knew several girls in the same class as me who failed the class and have to retake it.
I took BIO 142 Lab online with Professor Mason, and she posted plenty of study materials including pictures and info used on the tests and quizzes. Her expectations were clear. There were only two big tests and weekly 25 question quizzes which required correct spelling. Be sure to study a lot. Anatomy itself is a hard subject.
No extra credit. I happened to get almost an C if mason would have game me a few more points, she's overall the worst teacher I had!
Worst teacher ever. Rude. All tests and quizzes are short answer and be prepared to know how to spell. Her short answer questions dont make sense half the time and are very vague and give little context as to what shes asking. Have to answer the questions quick though or she will accuse you of cheating
If you are seeing this DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. It was an online only class so I figured it wouldn't be that bad, it was. Not enough time to take quizzes and their all write in answers. The tests had material on it not covered in class and short answer so I never finished the tests in time. EXTREMELY harsh grader, like 1 wrong word, points are off.
Mrs. Mason is a knowledgeable instructor for BIO 142. She teaches the material, ensuring strong retention. Short-answer quizzes are recycled for exams—save and study them. Panopto recordings are extremely useful; watch and take detailed notes. Exams and quizzes are timed, and she grades strictly. No extra credit is offered, so preparation is key.
