Very Good teacher, able to explain anything clearly. Made me actually like math. Not a lot of homework, but stickler for attendence and tough tests. DEFINETELY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!
I wouldnt recommend that anyone take this teacher unless you are really good at math. She makes everything extra difficult which isn't really necessary. In our class the whole back row was at a low C or D before we took the final and I assume many people now failed her class because of the super difficult final we had.
Nice teacher. She was doing good explaining things and keeping things cleared until about 3/4 into the semester. I think she started running out of time and it seemed like she was rushing things. It started to get very unclear. And you could tell that the other people in the class were struggling also. Not too much homeowork, but a difficult class.
not very good
Not an encouraging instructor. Teaching wise all she would do is go through the examples in the book and really if you think about it..how helpful is that? Her tests were WAY to long for the time allowed and she was horrible about giving partial credit.
I am not encouraging anybody to take her class. Her test was different then what she covers in the class.
She is hard and moves way too fast. She also isn't very helpful when you have questions. Her tests take longer than the allowed time. She is no good.
hey, do not take class. I am telling you she is not a helpful instuctor. Her test is way different than what she covers in the class and she doesn't give a partial credits
Id have to say she has got to be the worst math teacher at Century. If you want a good teacher take Purcell, Sonnek, or Naughton. These other teachers know how to actually teach math and dont try to make everything difficult like Simons does. Simons likes to trick you on tests and is stickler for grading. Not very personable either.

Avoid this teacher if you want to learn anything! She teaches like she doesn't want anyone to know what she's talking about. Her grading is much too tough especially for a non-college level class. Rearrange your schedule and take another teacher. It's worth it.
She started taking attendance but then stopped. Hard tests and even though she goes over everything in class, theres just too much to cover. not to mention that she sneaks in a very hard extra credit problem in each test.
don'ttake her, she is not a good teacher. she like to trick stundents.
I couldn't believe how hard she is i was always good at math until i took this class she was not helpful at all with homework and her teaching style was set up for failure. after one month i was at 33% so i had to drop.
Even though everyone says she is hard, I like her. The lectures were ok, and she was willing to help (not very friendly, but still useful). The best thing was the weekly homework. You could make it online, see the answers and then turn in a hand written copy. It helped me a lot to learn the material, so I got a great grade. I love that.
I second the other comment..I've always understood math until I took her class. The tests do NOT reflect the homework whatsoever and there is no lienience in points..you screw up a test or two and there's slim to no way to make it up.
very hard to get good grade. Not willing to work with students on the pass/fail borderline.
Fantastic teacher who is always willing to help. She is patient and understanding. I hate math, but her class was one of my favorites. Those who are expecting an easy A may be dissapointed but I came to college to learn not to be handed a free pass.
SUPER HARD TEACHER!!! Test reviews are pointless. I hate Math even more now. There are quizes on the homework, but if you don't understand the homework, she doesn't help you until after the quiz.
I normally do well with math math and her class is a challange. I often find myself with the right answers but she grades my work and not so much my answer. In otherwords a math perfectionist, if your work is not witten out in the proper mathamatical order she will let you know and your grade will feel it.
I pick up on math pretty quickly, but I still felt like she wasn't very thorough. Also, there were some questions on the tests that weren't really covered in class.
Every day you start the class with a mini quiz. They are always special case problems that have you wondering if you have the correct answer. The loss of points over the semester is staggering. She is a terrible teacher and I would not recommend her. G'head G'head G'head.
I passed this class in tenth grade with an A- and I'm nearly failing. She is an elitist, partial credit is extremely scarce and adequate time isn't given for exams. She'll help if you approach her, but her office time is almost nonexistent. Your textbook will teach you more than she will. Avoid her unless you are as flawless at math as she is.
One of my favorite teachers! Yes, she was hard, but I thought she explained everything very well and was very patient with those who were "lost". I've had worse math teachers!
she can be hard most of the time but the main idea is that you should deffinatly doo all your homework and take notes extreamly well. most of the fill in the blank questions come from there. make sure you deffinatly know your stuff befor the test, they are HARD! good luck!
Took Calc.1 in the spring. She was the only teacher that was teaching it. Class of 40, 12 students took the final and didn't drop. Do all your homework, several times and read the book before and after class, you could possibly get a B. She is very nice but you cant fall behind and you must do homework to think about passing! Goto every class!
She shouldn't even be a teacher at century. She is horrible and likes to trick you on the tests. Makes you learn math vocabulary and has fill in the blanks on the test. Save yourself the money and the time and avoid this teacher at all costs. Even if she is the only teacher for the class you need or that fits you schedule, dont take her.Trust me.
The tests are not on the daily assignments that she grades you on, they're on the book we never used. She grades incredibly hard, I didn't have "a straight edge" for my test and she marked me off a point for a bad line. She also marked off points if you didn't put (x=_) instead of just the answer. Avoid her at all costs, waste of your money.
DONT TAKE HER. HEY IF YOU WANT TO BE STUPID AND IGNORE MY ADVICE THEN FINE. IT IS UP TO YOU. WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE AN A OR B FROM A GOOD MATH TEACHER OR GET: C, D, F FROM A WORTHLESS MATH TEACHER LIKE HER? SHE LIKES TO HAND OUT BAD GRADES BECAUSE SHE WILL MAKE MATH IMPOSSIBLE TO DO. SHE ISNT A MATH TEACHER SHE IS A TRICKERY EXPERT.
If you really want to learn your math. Simons is the prof to choose. I really liked her and she was pretty tough though. Make sure to find time to study, since her tests are challenging. She doesn't give too much homework.
The lectures during class hour were good and clear. However, when it came to the tests, it was extremely hard and nearly impossible to do. In addition, not only was it confusing its just plain unnecessary. All the homework and lectures we discussed, did not teach us how to solve the problem the way that she presented it. I regret taking this cla
If there is anything good written about her on here, it is because she wrote it herself. She was great for math90 but sucks in upper levels. Her tests are nearly impossible. All of the homework was ONLINE so she wouldnt have to grade...which then her tests were of course different from the online homework. WORST MATH teacher I have ever taken.
THIS IS THE WORSE MATH TEACHER EVER. PLEASE BE WARN, SHE VERY VERY HARD!!!
Out of 31 students, on the final, only 13 remained. Additionally, tests are too long. She has the mentality that the material is tough and either you get it, or you don?t. I strongly disagree with this mentality. With a good instructor, anybody is capable of learning and achieving great results. I would take a different instructor.
Simon gives clear, knowledgeable lectures. She helps during office hours. Answers all questions asked. Promptly returns emails. Nice personality. If you like to slack off then don't take her. You will need to look over the text. Very little busy work. Tests are based off text and lectures. many dropped by end of semester. Learned a lot.
She's seems as if she feels shes better then everyone and doesnt like teaching this "low leveled" math class. Was not willing to help if confused and did not care about if the class got topic or not. I had to take class. Brian Jenson is the best! I recommend him and RUN AWAY from this women...
This class is easy to pass if you have hours a day to spend on homework. She is very good at lecturing, she is very easy to learn from. But the homework load is extreme. She is not very helpful outside of class and pretty much impossible to get ahold of or communicate with outside of class.
I actually enjoyed taking her class. Quite a load of work but they will definitely help you for the exams. The exams are not hard if you study for them. All hw and quizzes are online. Over all, it was a good class.

Doesn't teach... she hum's music from the t.v. show Jeopardy. The homework and tests DO NOT correspond to the 'lectures.' She rambles and expects you to know what she is talking about. There is not text to read and she provides online videos to watch... which, you guessed it, have nothing to do with the material.
Started great then became unorganized and had to push the material back, then never knew where we were, what was going to be on the test. Homework due was not on test or covered in class so instead of concentrating on the test material time wasted studying things irrelavant to the course as she never told us where we should be or what to study
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES. We got behind on the schedual that she made and all hell broke lose then. She did not update the schedual and did not tell us when quizes were due. She just expected everyone to be on MyMathLab 24/7 to see when things were open to take them.
The way she teaches is very engaging! She makes it fun, and I never fell asleep in her class, even though I have her at 7:45 in the morning! The homework isn't too bad, but sometimes we have homework on problems that we haven't even gon over yet! Overall, she's a good teacher! I would reccomend her :P
An absolutely abysmal teacher. She demands much but offers little. She expects you to do perfectly, but her teaching is riddled with mistakes. She is forgetful, flawed, and rather obnoxious when teaching. Not only do you have to do HW on my math lab, you also have to turn some in, as extra unneeded work. Do yourself a favor, take anyone but her.
WORST....TEACHER.....EVER!! Its not that it's harder than calc would normally be, but she makes us do hours of completely worthless busy work for nothing. She wants to be a comp teacher, not math. We are required to write short stories about math problems!! She simply has no business in a classroom.
I understand that she is TRYING to make her class fun, but it's not working. It only makes all that more complicated for us students to learn from her. Just keep with the facts is what I would like to say to her. And all that turning in from m&m is really unnecessary, just making the worksheets she gives in class as assignment would be enough.
It might just be that I was in her blended online/in-class class, but she never really went over the difficult stuff in class; it was mostly the simple stuff that she talked about, and I found that very frustrating.
Fun to listen to. She covers the easy stuff in class, the hard stuff you can grasp by doing your homework. This is college algebra folks. this is a hard class at any school with any teacher. I took it as a blended course. half in class half online.
Not entirely bad, but not entirely good either. She's interesting when she teaches, but can be demand a lot. She is helpful when you ask and often gives the answers to homework or quiz problems. You will really have to work for your grade with this class. Hint: Team up for as much as you can, including the My Math Lab quizzes.
it really helps to watch the videos online do not rely on learning everything in class
Angela is an excellent math teacher...do the homework and make the effort and you will learn a lot. Homework is challenging but she goes out of her way to help and will always answer questions. A math teacher that really knows her stuff. Good personality once you get to know her.
Nice enough lady, but horrible communication. NOTHING handed back or graded on time, tests in class different than what was online. Didn't cover ANY of the difficult stuff in class and put it on the student to learn on their own. Very frustrating class to be in. Avoid if you don't have 20 hours a week to dump into math to save your GPA.
I suck at math and was struggling from the begining, so I hired a tutor put in about 15-20 hours a week studying and doing homework and still had an F. Unless you are great at math and have hours to dump into this class choose a different teacher. Outside of class she is very difficult to get ahold of. Hardest course I've taken at Century.
Do not take a hybrid class unless you are willing to put in a lot of time and effort. I managed to survive without watching every video. In class teaching wasn't very helpful. The homework and testing website showed that I spent 58 hours working for the semester.
You have to already be good at math in order to understand. I took her hybrid class and the site she used was always slow and would stop working while working on assignments, so all my assignments were always late or incomplete since the website sucked. She's not very good at explaining things in class, except how to work a graphing calculator.
Ms. Simons goes above and beyond in terms of the resources she provides and explanations she gives in class for all materials needed to understand the subject.
She is a good teacher. I liked the hybrid class. It was like a flipped class in hs. I get to watch the lecture videos at home and come to class with homework questions.
I took math 70 and 1061 with her, both hybrid, I really liked her!! I'm currently taking 1062 with one of the "easy" teachers and I'm totally boredfalling asleep in class. Yes, she is strict but I promise you will be prepared for your next math class after taking her class! I'm hoping she'll be teaching 1082 still when I get there!
Many hours of online homework assigned for 0 credit. Doesn't hand back the graded assignments in a timely manner, when she does the class is so far beyond the topic that it's hard to ask questions from 2 or 3 sections passed. Rarely covers the more difficult concepts in class or video lectures yet test you on them. Only approachable to some.
If you ask questions in class, you will do fine. The in-class tests were hard but manageable if you remember how to do the word problems on the online homework. The take home tests took a long time to do but she was willing to help if you had questions. A lot of students dropped so I would advise you to only take this class if math is your area.
Her online style worked great for me
I too really liked her online algebra class
She would give out pop quizzes on what you went over that day, if you weren't paying attention you won't pass.
Took college algebra over the summer in her blended hybrid class. It was great! I previously had taken this class with another instructor and had to drop it because the format and the teacher sucked. Ms. Simmons is friendly and kind, she cared about teaching and helped me out greatly! What a difference!
Homework, it's there, tests are there too, only thing is, their not graded. I thought I was safe with all the homework and test I did, but nope. Only the final exam was graded. Definitely a passable class, just prepare to overclock yourself. Would i take it again? No.
I Do not recommend Angela. Didn't seem like she was even with it for most of the classes, and she got problems wrong sometimes when working though them. She was not clear when explaining things and would skip entire steps just assuming we already knew how to do it. The tests were very hard, and expect a ton of homework.
Never gotten below a B ever- nit picks every single test and random pop quizzes- Didn't have a textbook , and online homework problems were irrelevant to what she was teaching in class- Mumbles a lot- very hard to understand- Would forget about homework and assign random due dates- got example problems wrong in class frequently.
There's no practice exams at all. We were allowed to have one note card for regular exams and a full front/back page notes for the final but that didn't help me. You wouldn't know what to expect on her tests and she gives pop quizzes sometimes. This class is NOT for you if you're not a bad test taker.

I don't recommend this teacher for anybody who isn't good at learning how to math by yourself. The quizzes are online, you get an hour to do them. You have to do the homework by yourself online. She doesn't teach anything important in class, only basics. She takes days to reply to emails if you have questions. The tests cover minimal material.
I took Angela's partially online math class. You had to do all of the homework and quizzes online and tests were in class. You could have a front and back sheet of notes for the test but it didn't help much. I'm fairly good at math and I still considered the tests to be extremely difficult. Didn't lecture well when we did have class, just rambled on
I really enjoyed Professor Simmon's class. I took this class a semester ago and didn't enjoy it as much as I did this time. I like the half online half in class because then the teacher would answer any questions I had. She also uses open math which is a FREE textbook which is really nice and with every lesson there are videos explaining how.
The test was different than what she teach and what you learn from your homework. Lots of homework- She doesn't teach you. Basically a video will be your professor. Alway have note ready when taking quiz online.
This was the first professor that I knew did not want her students to be successful. She wanted students to fail. Angela took all the joy away from learning and math. I took college algebra as apart of my generals, and I struggled. She accused me of cheating when I was somewhat successful in her class. She is an awful and unfortunate instructor
I wouldn't recommend taking a class with this professor unless you are willing to learn on your own outside of the classroom. She pretty much goes over each section AFTER the assignment is due. Also if you miss an in class test you have to wait until the end of the semester to take it!
Taking math1061 is one of those classes you can do really good in if you keep up with the assignments, or will struggle a lot with if you don't. She doesn't use D2L or physical textbooks. Everything is on MyOpenMath so just make sure you keep up with your work & you should do fine in the class. Pretty easy going professor with a good sense of humor
I took a partially online class and I loved it. All of the homework was online and she always gave a practice test that looked exactly like the test. She would go over examples in classes and help you better understand them but there are always video lessons on the site she used for us to turn in our homework.
Angela was a great teacher. She really wants her students to succeed. I have not taken a math class in over 10 years besides med dosages and I am not going to lie, it was tough but do able. Her grading is fair and she expects you to ask questions. If you put forth the effort your going to pass!
I took a partially online class and it was horrible. It was so hard to learn from prof Angela and even in class she didnt help anyone understand. Shes s very tough grader and takes points off without ever explaining why. I feel set up to fail. If you take this class you will have to do a lot of extra work on your own such as tutoring to succeed.
Honestly one of the easier College Algebra level classes I took. All her homework/quizzes were online through My Open Math. Its such an easy place to see how well youre doing. There are weekly quizzes but it only consisted of 2/3 problems. She may seem intimidating, but give her a shot. Youll learn a lot from her.
Angela uses MyOpenMath, so no textbook is required, it is by far the best online math resource I've used. Attendance is only mandatory to take in class quizzes. She uses lecture to simplify the ideas taught, connecting the 'why' to the 'how'. Figuring 66% of 'tests' are actually homework, only 17.5% of your grade is truly test based. Love her!
Hands down one of my favorite professors. She actually cares about you learning; I have no clue why she has a low rating. Homework is online, if you actually watch them, and do the problem along you'll understand how to do it. She goes over hard problems in class, and walks you through them. As long as you do your homework, you'll pass.
If you see this I warn you to stay away from her. She doesn't seem to care or respect her students. She takes 1 or 2 weeks to reply to emails. Grading takes 2 weeks at least and she chips aways points like a sculptor chips his sculpture and she seems to enjoy giving unbelievably difficult test that someone else made up.
TOUGH GRADER. Lessons, homework, quizzes, are online so you can get 100% on those... In class quiz every week, you get 20 mins, get to use notes, but she is very particular about answers, ex round .13 to 3 decimals .130 or having answer in a complete sentence. SHOW WORK EVERY DETAIL COUNTS. Attitude problem too... LEARNED more in Math70
Angela is a good teacher, but I found with the partially online course, two hours a week in class was not nearly enough. She only ever has time to cover a couple of questions per class period, since there's either a quiz or test every Monday. She is also easy to get distracted and somewhat disorganized, but sometimes led to interesting discussions.
To be honest, she did not teach the class at all. I taught myself everything in calculus one in a two month time period just from the homework and watching the videos. I had a very challenging time with this class and I would personally not take this professor ever again.
She is prone to asking questions on tests/quizzes that are more difficult than the ones on the homework and practice quizzes, leaving students stumped. Also will take off points for every single mistake, no matter how small. I'm relatively good at math, so I can manage to pass, so believe me when I say she makes the class harder than it needs to be
Ms. Simons is a great person but in my opinion is not the best teacher. She does a great job of answering questions about the homework and tests but a lot of the learning is taught by yourself if you take a hybrid class like I did. I wish we had some zoom lectures during online school, but she offers none so everything is self-taught.
Simons was so hard. She had weird due dates and an insane amount of work. She used myopenmath which is the most outdated website that was super confusing. She wouldn't respond to questions and gave us links to free youtube videos for instruction for each chapter. Some teachers shouldn't be teachers.
Calculus 1. 50% of the grade is 4 exams including the final (12.5% each), the other 50% is homework and quizzes. What's on the homework is on the quizzes, what's on the quizzes is on the exams. Available outside of class. Supportive. Not tech savvy in a COVID era. Great professor.
Showing up to class was pointless, 2 hours of class and only around 5 problems were gone over that didn't help. I mostly just taught myself through this class, class itself was easy but this professor was not. The class was partially online, but attendance was non-mandatory.
Takes a long time to respond to e-mails. Give out a chapter quiz every two weeks, very little time to cover a lot of work. She doesn't give you specifics on how she wants answers, will not give partial credit for close answers. The two midterms are worth 58%, does not put up lecture videos. The each section homework takes over 3 to 4 hours.
Overall a good professor. Homework and quizzes should be done accordingly every week. If not, you most likely are going to be behind. Tough grader when it comes to tests. Grades are based more on tests. Would recommend taking in-class courses.
Stay away from this professor!! I wouldve had a 4.0 if I had any other professor that taught the same material I guarantee it! The midterms are impossible to ace because she makes you upload work which is a chore and she only gives you 2 hours to complete the test which isnt enough. She doesnt respond to emails, and was always very unorganized.
Due dates are completely random and unannounced, weekly surveys which are worth decent credit are randomly released without warning. INSANE amount of work for a college algebra class. Zero teaching going on here, be prepared to Youtube everything. Cold, Dry and unhelpful instructor. (wouldn't even call her a professor). Myopenmath is garbage too
I stopped attending this class after two classes. I did this because she never really taught in class. she would just go over examples from the hw rapidly without much explaining. from an almost 3 hr class, you think you would have time to teach the content. midterm needs to be longer. I am good at math but she made it hard.
No partial credit. Test Q's much harder than homework and exmpls. You'll have to self-teach. Not enough time for major exams. Good in the classroom, if you have specific questions. Only gives partial info in email replies, almost never responds on weekends. Noon deadlines. Undue stress. Plan to live in the math center.
Just not it.
She's really good at responding if you message her through the MyOpenMath system. She responds to emails too. The 2 midterms are way too difficult, and most of your grade depends on those. The quizzes are not timed, though. And if you complete all homework and do really well on those, you have some wiggle room if you bomb either of the 2 exams.
Just terrible. Theres a lot of homework, which I dont mind. What I do mind is that she gives you videos and readings that doesnt help with whats on your homework. Ive literally stayed up until 3AM looking for different lecture videos that would actually help. Take your chances elsewhere.
This class I took as a PSEO student my first semester and it was challenging. It was all self taught even with in person classes. No replies to emails at all. Graded by quizzes, tests, and homework. Homework takes about 3 hours per lesson. I would not recommend this class to anyone who need instruction and isn't ok with teaching themselves.
The most difficult class I have ever taken, and I just took Organic Chemistry last semester. Absolutely useless textbook, get ready to watch videos for every single concept. The homework questions do not prepare you at all for the tests, which are about as unforgiving and confusing as they come. In short, take a different professors class.
I took this math class in the summer and it was so difficult. If you missed a single assignment you pretty much failed. She would never answer my emails, but would email me if she saw that I was not working on the assignment that was due in two weeks. No text books only her notes and they were awful notes and not helpful to anything you do.
Do not select this professor to be your math professor. The quizzes are nothing like the homework and the questions on the quiz are nothing near what the homework covers. She does not like to explain anything too. The homework that she gives does not cover anything on the quiz. Also, the quiz questions are 10 times harder. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
She can't decide what variables to use and often gets her own questions incorrect. She can't decide how many decimal places to round to and gives a ridiculous amount of unnecessary homework.
Throughout this class, I tried to get help from my parents who took similar classes,a high school math teacher, & two other students who had As in the same courses with different teachers. They all said the same thing: "This isn't a college algebra 1 course load." and it isn't. The work is incredibly difficult and your grade's based on test scores.
She gives a terrible amount of homework! I stayed up late to finish her stupid questions and didn't even get it done because there was too much. She doesn't even grade anything. And doesn't even teach properly!!! I learned nothing!!! I hope both sides of her pillow is forever burning charcoal hot!!!!
Homework load tend to be a bit much, deadlines are at noon (like why?). HW assignments can take hours. Responds well on MyOpenMath. There are quizzes almost every week. Does not get through all in-class assignments and you wont get credit for the ones unanswered because only she can open them. Textbook is useless, at least there are videos to help.
This class was hard and it was difficult to communicate with her
She doesn't teach you anything. All she does is review problems in class, assigns tons of homework that take hours to complete because you have to teach yourself, textbook is useless, videos are somewhat helpful, & noon deadlines. Save yourself the time & stress DO NOT TAKE!
She is very good at teaching but she is also very fast as well when she teaches. I did struggle keeping up with her and was often falling behind because there was so much homework. We had a quiz every Friday and homework due every Thursday. There was about 3-4 homework each week but it decreased near the end.
So rude and unprofessional.. grading system doesn't make sense. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Please stay away from this professor , she uses my open math platform which is outdated and she is tough grader. i am A student however i got C in her courses and it is too much work!! take your course somewhere else
Terrible teacher who is rude and is not accesible outside of class. Her curriculum uses an online system that is terrible to do math on. She makes a simple Algebra class as hard as Calculus. You can spend 5 hours on a simple assignment, her teaching style is horrible. DO NOT TAKE HER
I wanna let you guys know, all of the reviews are true. I spend way too much time @ the math center just for her class.
