Requires a lot of self-teaching. Moves fast through in-class materials
shes very tough but if you put the work in you can get the grade. she deffinitley goes through material fast so studying is a must. office hrs are helpful. watch out tho the tests are very long and almost impossible to complete in the time given
I wish I had never enrolled into this course. As someone that loves economics, I feel like my interests on the subject were deteriorating while in her course. Lectures were confusing, tests were unreasonable. All those factors led to an extremely low class average. Beware.
No attendance policy. Lectures are all written on board. No power points. 4 homeworks, and 3 tests. Tests are long but manageable if you get the workbook and do the practice problems. She curves the class at the end of the semester. It's the class thats challenging, but she did a good job overall.
Coming from someone who has a 4.0 GPA?STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLASS AND THIS TEACHER?3 hour exam expected to be completed in 50 minutes. Would not let us know what to expect on test. Studied for 18 hours and still thought it was impossible. Just didn't know how to study for exam. No practice problems or anything. Didn't know what toe expect for exam.
CLASS IS IMPOSSIBLE! Exams are unfair no matter how much you study. They are very very long. Goes over basic stuff in lectures and expects us to do hard ass problems on exams. She is a nice person. Count how many times she says "essentially" per day (20+)..STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU WANT A GUARNTEED BAD GRADE! She is above everyone's head
I aced both micro and macro. I thought I was prepared for any econ class that I'd enroll into. After her class, I am a econ fan no more. Her class is very poorly organized. Her exams are extremely difficult with no heads up. You're going to be way over your head if you take any of her classes. I HIGHLY recommend someone else....ANYONE ELSE.
If you want to loose your confidence and your love for ECON then take her b/c her tests are really unpredictable even after countless hours of studying. If only she could tell us what to study or what to look our for tests or gave us practice problems. She is probably the worst Economics professor at JMU, she is not meant to be a professor!
YOU WILL CONTEMPLATE SUICIDE WHILE TAKING HER CLASS....STAY AWAY AT ALL COST...WHAT A HORRIBLE PROFESSOR
Most anal grader in the world. Takes off points for the smallest details. Lectures are hard to follow, hw is tedious and hard to get full credit, and tests are nearly impossible... PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!
Smith is definitely a tough professor, but I learned a lot in her class. Sometimes I wasn't the best about attending class, but she was always helpful in office hours. If you copy the information she writes on the board and read the book, you should be OK. The only thing is that she can be really picky about homework assignments. I recommend her.
Hard class. prob the best professor for this class though. I haven't heard much better. Hard hw and really hard test. Take notes in class and will do alright and should get a C
She is a very good teacher and proably one of the easiest micro or macro teachers you can get. She genuinely cares and will do everything in her power to help you do well in class. I personally think she is a good teacher!!
WORST teacher I have had a JMU so far. She does not teach you anything I had to use the book a lot. Very picky about HW assignments, near impossible to get 20/20. Tests are much harder than anything she covers in class. I needed an 88 to get into 300, got an 87 and she wouldn't do anything to help
Great teacher! Although there were a lot of notes, it is not hard to pull off a good grade in this class. Smith wants her students to do well and is willing to help them at any time.
I hear a lot of people hating on Smith around the cob. Econ is a difficult subject, so people should expect it to be pretty tough. My only beef is that she was way too picky grading the short-answer portions of my tests. She is one of the nicest ladies I have met in the COB; Also, relative to other staff members, she is pretty easy on the eyes.
while all she does is give notes, the notes help a lot and you really dont need the book for anything. tests you need to study for and the homeworks are fairly easy. I don't know about the other econ teachers but she was very helpful and nice.
Take this teacher. She is very good and easy. All you do is go to class and take notes and the test are from the notes in class. Attendance is not mandatory, but it helps to go because you need the notes. If you have questions just ask in class and she will clarify. 3 tests & final, and 3 homework assignments. EASY
I took Angela for my repeat forgive, my last teacher was terrible. Professor Grant, where I got a D with him. If you go to class and take Angela's notes. You will be fine for the tests just memorize your tests, I have a A- for the class and LOVE HER! She is the best teacher that makes sense, just study your notes.
Great teacher. Not a lot of work. Assigns a homework worksheet about a week before the test. If you go to class and take down all the notes all you have to do is read over the notes multiple times a couple days before the test and you will do really well. Take her.
I understood what was going on. If you attend, you can pass with a good grade.
Angela is a really good teacher and knows her stuff. She delivers it well, but the class is very challenging. Economic classes are generally hard at this school so if your going to take one take it with Angela
This is definitely a challenging course, but it's hard no matter who you take. She is a great teacher, very clear and straight forward, writes everything down on the board. If you go to class and take notes, you'll do well. I loved her and am taking her next semester for Micro as well.
Great professor, but class is challenging no matter who you take. She writes everything down on the board, so definitely go to class! Her exams are really frustrating, so make sure u know how to draw graphs and interpret them. Don't study the notes by heart, your just need to know how to apply all the exercises and worksheets.
Professor Smith is fabulous. She explains everything, is completely fair, and is always willing to help. Micro is a little boring at times, but you get plenty of real life application. Not hard to get an A if you study your notes... Don't bother reading the textbook. If you have common sense, you'll do well in the class.
Excellent teaching style, make sure you get the study guide though it will make your life 100x easier. Study hard for her first test, bc its definitely harder than her quizzes. Overall a great teacher with a passion for teaching. Take Smith!!
Attendence isn't mandatory. You only get about 5 HW assignments and about 5 quizzes. Tests are pretty hard and are long for the amount of time given. She explains things really well and writes everything on the board. Test questions are much more in depth than homework and quizzes so dont take them lightly. Total of 2 tests and a final.
She is an amazing lecturer, and I gained a lot from her class. Her tests are fairly difficult and rather long, but overall, the class is wonderful.
As far as micro teachers go, Angela is probably one of the best- she gives a lot of good examples. That being said, I still found the class to be really difficult. Compared to Grant who I had had for another economics class, she explained the topics a lot more thoroughly. She's kind of scattered at times though and know-it-all-y.
You learn EVERYTHING durring class. No need to read. Very few homework assignments and they took about 5-10 lazy minutes. Could have rushed even faster. Attendance isn't mandatory buy anyone who tries durring class but slacks outside of class AND goes to all but maybe 3 classes can get a VERY easy B. If I didn't miss 10 classes Id have an A.
Easy easy easy. take the time to understand and shes easy. she writes out everything you need on the board, so do not buy the book. study and take the time to understand the concepts and the tests are easy (got 100). recommend
Angela is an AWESOME teacher! Lets face it. The only reason her rating isnt a 4.5 at least is because the class itself is difficult. I got a C+ but I realize that that was 100% my fault just from slacking too hard. She is a great teacher and might not be super hard but you dont necessarily need a hard teacher to learn a lot of good info! Take her!
To be fair economics you either understand or you don't. But Smith is a very good professor and is more than willing to put in the time to help you understand the topics. Quizzes and Tests are a crap shoot on whether or not they are easy or hard but if you study your notes from lecture and understand basics it is a simply class.
Her teaching is very clear, if you can copy all the notes that she writes on the board and understand them, you will get a good grade on quiz and tests. Homework is few and easy, and test are all from notes. She is very patient and nice.
Angela is an awesome teacher! She has three tests and a few quizzes and homeworks. The lowest quiz grade is dropped but honestly the class is so easy you'd get by fine without it. There's not attendance, little work, and the book isn't necessary. Definitely take her!
I had to withdraw from this class, not because of Prof Smith, but because I did not do enough as a student to prepare myself for her class. There are few quizzes as well as 2 tests and a final. I feel you have to be interested in this class to get a good grade and stay awake. Good teacher though!!
One of the best professors I have had at JMU. She is very clear and will explain it until you understand it. You don't have to read the book at all if you go to class and take notes. The exams are fair especially for an econ class. She is great, I would definitely take her.
Smith is a great professor! Her lectures are exactly what she tests on! As long as you attend class regularly and do the homework you will do fine! She is also extremely helpful if you email her asking questions or attend her office hours.
She is a great teacher! First econ class I've ever taken and got an A. Doesn't use the textbook, tests are purely off of notes from class.
I would definitely recommend her. She explains everything very clearly and everything comes from her notes, the book isnt necessary. there are 2 tests, 4 quizzes and 4 homeworks and a final
Angela's the best, she's incredibly smart and is great at explaining her vast knowledge of Micro. Tests and quizzes are difficult but directly from the notes in class, sometimes word for word. It's a little tough, but it's not a bad class.
Angela is fantastic! Shes explains concepts very well and always makes sure to provide examples. Her tests and quizzes are directly from lecture and can be difficult if you do not study but are not that bad if you are prepared and take notes. She keeps the class engaged and knows her stuff. Take her if you can!
She is a very clear professor, and will basically teach the textbook, making it obsolete. Grades are made of 4 homework and quizzes, 2 tests, and the final. If you do well on the final it replaces your lowest test score too. She is very passionate about economics, and it helps bring enthusiasm into the class. Very good, take her!
VERY straight-forward and Angela is such a sweet woman. Tests are exactly on the notes from class. Attendance isn't mandatory. Me and my friend took turns going to class and took notes for eachother and both got A's. Material is boring but it's not hard if you put in some effort. TAKE HER. Rarely used the textbook!
Take her! She is a great lecturer and really good at explaining concepts and giving clear examples. I had never had an Econ class before and found her class easy to understand and interesting. Writes everything out on the board, tests come straight from the notes. Book is only necessary for some homework she assigns.
Professor Smith is fantastic. This was my first economics class, and she is very fluent at clarifying some pretty abstract concepts that come hand in hand with economics. She tests and quizzes you solely off what she teaches you in class. She is so sweet and passionate about economics, which made taking this course worthwhile.
Very helpful teacher. 3 tests and that includes the final. 4 quizes (one dropped). She explains things well and is easy to understand
She explained everything in a crystal clear way. As long as you pay attention and study you'll be fine. There were 2 tests, mostly short answer, she tries to give you as many points. The quizzes were multiple choice and she dropped 1 of the 5. Final exam was really easy multiple choice! TAKE HER. SHE IS THE BEST. She does grade the 4 hw assignments
One of the best professors I've had at JMU. Professor Smith is super clear in lecture, and she only tests you on things covered in class (nothing from the textbook). I'm not good at Econ, but I went to class, visited her at office hours a few times, and got an A. She's the best, you'll learn more about econ from her than anyone else, take her!!!
Makes it pretty easy to do well. She lectures for part of the class and then does a lot of worksheets with parters/groups. She's good at explaining concepts and helping students understand the material. She does homework's, quizzes, tests, and the final so there's a lot of opportunities to do well.
She is very nice, and many one of the best econ prof at JMU. Econ is hard in general. Tests are not that bad, but the final is SUPER hard.
She is the best econ 201 teacher in JMU COB, definitely take her! Clear notes, and quizzes and tests are all based on her notes. Take her class if you had chance.
Angela is so, so nice, but Micro is just a hard course. There are 4 homeworks and 4 short multiple choice quizzes to boost your grades, but 2 of the 3 exams (not the final) are short answer, so you have to know what you're doing to pass. She tries to help you understand in class, so ask questions if you have them and don't get behind.
She is a great professor. Taking this course as a business minor credit I was nervous that this class was going to be awful but Professor Smith made it very understanding for students of all backgrounds. She reviews all quizzes and exams after we get them back and helps to make sure that you understand the material before moving onto the next.
great teacher, she's very clear! the class is tough, but if you put in a lot of effort and study it's doable. i personally really enjoyed it/thought it was interesting (and I'm not a business major). didn't buy the textbook and i was fine. attendance isn't mandatory, but go. it'll help you a lot. all of the tests/quizzes are based off of lecture.
She's a great professor, really nice and really good at explaining things in a way that makes them easy to understand. I thought I was going to hate this class at first but she actually made it really interesting! Not very hard if you pay attention and take good notes!
Your overall grade consists of just a few assignments (no extra credit or pop quizzes). She's VERY clear and extremely helpful. She explains things in ways that make econ a little easier. However, you need to study hard for those exams, as there are only 3. Would definitely recommend.
Best micro professor at jmu. had a horrible experience with macro, took her, and she changed my opinion on economics. Go to class because she tests straight from her lecture, you don't even need to buy the book honestly. very leniant on grading with tests (they're short answer), difficult class but she makes it 1000 times better.
She explains this subject matter so clearly and gives relatable examples and gives out worksheets to even better explain the topics. Econ is pretty tough, but she does the best job explaining it, and is always there to help. Book isn't necessary and she always puts in an effort to interact with the class through lectures or activities! TAKE HER!!!!
Was hoping for a little better than I got. She's a harsh grader on my presentations--I think she was just trying not to give everyone A's. Her lectures move fast and she can be a bit disorganized. Class content is pretty straightforward. The harsh grading and lack of practice problems just annoyed me.
Smith is probably the best micro teacher you can have. She's very nice and her lectures are very clear which makes some tricky topics easier to understand. Few quizzes and homework. Test are hard but that's Econ. Attendance isn't mandatory but she explains things a lot better than the books does. Would definitely recommend!
Best professor you could have for Micro! She explains things well and really wants you to succeed. Some quizzes and homework is a completion grade. Attendance isn't mandatory but you can't make up her notes & they're better than the book + worksheets in class help with understanding and homework.
Best teacher you can get for 201! I literally go to class and take notes during her lectures and then just look them over for the quizzes and always get an A. No surprises on the tests everything is straight from her lectures, homeworks, and worksheets.
Angela Smith is the best teacher at JMU, any subject. I am by no means smart, but I ended with a solid A. If you put the effort in, you will get the results you are looking for.
Super boring but super easy class, don't need to show up but her notes are very helpful, much more clear than the textbook. 2 tests and a final and 4 homeworks and 4 quizzes which are easy points.
Prof. Smith is without a doubt the best choice for 201. She has a few homeworks that are graded on completion, followed by quizzes, and three tests (one is the cumulative final). Her lectures are engaging because she incorporates activities and worksheets. I do not understand economics and ended with a solid B, but I know many people who got A's!!!
I took Dr. Smith because I really enjoyed Macro, and saw the wonderful reviews she had on here. However I would say I liked, and did better overall in Macro with a professor with worse reviews on here. Class started out easy, but got harder over time. I thought lectured dragged and was broad, tests werent terrible but final was hard, only a lil HW
Super amazing teacher. Doing so much better in this economics course than past. She goes into details and gives many examples. Quiz and homework due before test which helps a lot. Tests are a good mix of open ended and multiple choice, and the notes correspond directly to her grading.
Micro is just a hard class and there's no getting around that but Angela really helps break it all down and tries to help you understand the best that she can. 4 graded hw, 4 quizzes, 2 exams, and the final. I had taken micro and withdrew because the professor was terrible at explaining concepts - Angela is way better. TAKE HER.
attendance isn't mandatory, but if you don't go you will NOT pass this class. she gives good lectures and always makes sure she is going slow enough for you to get the notes down and understand the topic. if you have to take micro, take her.
Smith is great for Micro - which is a difficult subject. If you go to class, listen to her lectures, and take good notes - you will be fine.
moves VERY fast and grades harshly as it must be exactly what she wants. literally everything is fair game on her tests and she does not explain things clearly. this was the hardest and most confusing class i have ever taken. she sticks to doing each class in the exact same way which is annoying as well.
Smith is absolutely phenomenal. She is so knowledgable, passionate, and concise. I took this class 1 year ago, and I can say that I still remember what I learned. Class is completely lecture-based with a complementary notes packet. Quizzes and tests were directly related to the lecture notes. I can't say enough good things about her. Take her!!!
Lets be real- Econ is gonna be difficult no matter who you take, but if you have the chance to take Angela Smith do it! She covers material in her lectures and explains the concepts very slowly and with a lot of detail which is helpful with a course like Econ. She doesnt take attendance but I suggest going to class! Best Econ prof in my opinion!
Angela Smith is hands down the best professor for Econ. If you go to class , pay attention, and take good notes. Youll most likely end up with an A in the class
UPDATE: Spring 2019 Listen, this class (micro) is hard. You're gonna have to study with any teacher you get. Angela Smith actually teaches the class instead of you just going home and reading a pointless textbook, and not getting anything from it. Very organized teacher. Quizzes are tough, tests are easier. Make sure you go to class.
I really enjoyed this class because she gave us lectures and thought the class. This class was personally easy for me because her explanation made sense. I recommend you take her class for econ because she is great.
Dr. Smith is a great professor who works to engage her students on content that may not be so great to learn. The many in-class activities she implements into class were fun and really helped in understanding the material currently being taught. Her exams are not too bad for a Micro class but the Final was surprisingly challenging, so be careful.
Best Econ professor to take, really good at explaining the content. Test are straight forward and if you go to her class and take notes and go over it then it shouldnt be hard. I highly recommend taking her, dont let the rating deceive you. They fact that she has people reviewing her means she is really good.
Mrs. Smith is the best econ professor, hands down. She cares a lot about what she does and is very clear about her quizzes and tests. Her lectures are great and give you everything you need to know. Not a lot of homework and not many grades overall. Attendance not mandatory but should definitely go for her lectures.
Dr. Smith is great. Group project sucked but that had nothing to do with her. Study notes for the tests and take good notes (her tests are direct reflections of the notes CAN'T emphasize that enough). Would definitely take again
4 Quizes lowest one gets dropped. 4 Homeworks and 3 tests plus final. You have to go to class for the notes, yes the textbook can help make concepts clearer but assessments are based on her notes. If you go to all her classes and memorize her notes youll get an A
looking for an Econ prof? take Smith, she's so amazing. Im not the best at Econ stuff but she made it so much easier. attendance isn't mandatory but trust me you'll want to be there, here lectures are amazing. book isn't mandatory either but I used it and it helped a lot. she really cares about her students and loves Econ. definitely go with her!
Professor Smith is great at explaining Micro and goes into full detail with questions students have. One of the friendliest professors Ive had in the college of business so far
Professor Smith is one of the best professors I have had at JMU. Her class consists of 4 HW assignments, 4 quizzes (lowest score dropped), 2 tests, and a cumulative final. She loves teaching the course and loves answering any questions students have. Make sure to study for her tests and quizzes, they are not hard at all.
Professor Smith is an amazing Econ professor. She clearly knows what she's doing, and can answer any question you throw at her. She is extremely resourceful and ready to help her students when they need it. Her lectures are informative, although a little dry, but that comes with the material. Would definitely recommend this class to everyone.
I loved Professor Smith. She is one of my favorite professors I've had so far. She makes material clear during class on her slideshows. Offered occasional extra credit. Overall very nice person and an amazing professor who loves the subject she is teaching.
Angela Smith was awesome! As long as you show up ready to learn and take notes you will do great! Beware that there are only a few assignments throughout the semester, so you must be ready for the exams. As long as you take notes in class and practice with her non-graded handouts you should have no issue getting good grades.
Econ for me is hard, but she, as a teacher, is a good option for the class. I think she teaches it very clearly and answers questions well. Solid choice for a slighter harder concept.
She was a good professor, just lacked a clear grading rubric for her assignments. We would get a grade for a group project, with no clue to where she took points off which is not helpful. Her tests are very hard, very lengthy questions that take you a while to read which leaves you little time to answer. Seems like an easy class, but actually isn't
Professor Smith is friendly but the structure for this class didn't really make sense & neither did her grading. When you receive grades from her, there isn't much, if any, descriptions as to where you went wrong. Seems a little strict in the grading department as well. Overall, very nice person but the class shouldn't be available. Hard class.
Angela Smith is a very kind and knowledgeable professor, however, the material is very dated and the real-world application for it is slim to none. Public choice is the least beneficial econ class I have taken to date, it will not be an easy A nor will it be a benefit to you even if you are POSC, PPA, or ECON major/min. Take another class.
Professor Smith is a great choice for ECON201, she only gives four homework assignments and after each one is due you will have a quiz on the same material. She is a very good lecturer and if you study the activities and notes she provides you the quizzes or exams won't be too difficult.
Attendance is not mandatory but going to class helps A LOT. The tests and quizzes are a bit more difficult than you would think but if you study the notes you'll be fine. Grade is based on four quizzes, four homework's, and three tests (including final). Great professor who is helpful at answering questions and easily accessible. TAKE HER
Best professor Ive had through 2 years at JMU. Nearly failed micro in high school and was dreading having to take it again in college. But Smiths way of explaining concepts made everything seem simple and clear come test time. Just go to class and take good notes. Couldnt recommend any higher.
Professor Smith is one of the best professors in the economics department. She was clear with her grading, passionate about the material, and taught in a way to make the material interesting. I'm hoping to take her if she teaches any other econ classes in the future. Definitely recommended and the class wasn't too hard!
Such an amazing professor I have never understood Econ before her class. This was my second time in 201 and it was so easy and she explains everything in easy to understand terms. Her tests are easy if you take notes in her class, just like the PowerPoints. Her homework is graded not by correct answers but on effort. Make your life easy take her!
Ms. Smith was a great econ teacher for 201. She passionately teaches for her students and cares a lot about them. If you go to class and take good notes, you should do fine. But overall, very nice and a good teacher.
I loved ECON 201 because of Prof Smith. Her lectures made even the most complicated econ topics understandable and interesting. The work she assigns outside of class isn't too much and helps reinforce the important topics. 100% would recommend taking her !!!!
Smith is an amazing teacher, she made me actually like economics and the class was very straight forward and easy. There were 4 homework's, 4 quizzes(lowest dropped), 2 tests, then a final. Her lectures were simple, understandable and she is so nice to everyone. You have to study for quizzes and tests but they are super easy once you have. Take her
Econ is hard, she made it really simple and explained everything in a way that made it easy to learn. She has homework assignments for completion to help learn the topic. Few quizzes and she drops the lowest grade. Tests similar to homework with free response and mc. Would take her again if I could for any econ class
Probably one of the most boring professors Ive had at jmu. No real world applications and a tough grader for no reason. Takes her class way too seriously. Will never take again
Best teacher so far. She is very clear and understanding in her lectures and as long as you go to class it will be a piece of cake.
This is my second time taking Dr.Smith & I am grateful to have had her for capstone. The readings sometimes seemed pointless but she would always try and engage the class in discussion through a interactive game or questions. Very accessible outside of class, and I liked how she broke down the final paper so that not everything was due at once
Easy class if you show up and study. Prof Smith has very flexible office hours and is really good with helping students understand the material.
She is a pretty decent lecturer. Does not post notes online. Attendance is not mandatory. Homework does not count much at all toward your grade so you have to be prepared for the test and quizzes that she does not curve. Drops the lowest quiz. The final exam is extremely hard despite it being multiple-choice. Just make sure you study.
The best professor I've had so far at JMU. Takes the time in class to physically write the notes on the board and throughouly explains everything while using real life examples. Always willing to help. Very clear with what is on exams and quizzes, they are generally straightforward if you just pay attention in class. Definitely recommend her!!
Solid choice for 201. 80% of grade is tests, which are tough, but going to class is extremely helpful; she gives great notes and answers questions clearly and concisely. Understanding if sick or unable to attend class. Studying is a must, but putting in good effort results in a good grade. Topics are direct, but there is a lot of info in them.
Literally the best COB professor I've ever had, gives so many examples in class it's impossible to fail. Graded on 9 quizzes and a final all were fair, if you study and put in the work you'll be fine. Shes awesome.
Smith actually makes micro bearable by doing games and stuff in class, and tests are just like the quizzes and hw. If you miss a lecture, you're kind of screwed unless you can get the notes from someone else, but she posts really good videos going over the in-class handouts on canvas. Its not the easiest subject, but she breaks it down well.
Smith was great, she made class bearable and was great if you had a question. The homework is easy if you pay attention and take notes and the quizzes are just like homework. Only thing is if you miss a class you have to get the notes from someone but besides that it's a great class.
I was scared to take 201 because I had such a tough experience in 200, but Professor Smith was such a good teacher. Her lectures were very clear and she made difficult topics easy to understand. She always answered questions with respect and made sure everyone felt comfortable with the content before moving on. Take her if you can!
Probably the most ideal econ class, with little to no homework, and straightforward test/quiz questions. Really easygoing and caring. No ego or power trip like a lot of JMU professors. Lectures can be a little boring sometimes but she tries to make econ interesting which is hard so props to her. Highly recommend!
I thought she was great. Sometimes she would start moving too fast during lectures, but she usually went over concepts a few times, so I could always figure things out pretty well. She's clear about what's going to be on tests and quizzes. Super sweet and helpful outside of class. Material was manageable, workload wasn't bad at all. Take her!
Really flexible with students who are absent and need explanations outside of class. Easily accessible office hours. Explains things thoroughly and easy to understand. If you pay attention during lectures and work to understand the material you will do good.
Take her, she is extremely helpful, and willing to work with you, attendance isn't mandatory but it'll help you to be there and take notes. Sometimes her lectures get confusing but as long as you pay attention she will continue to show example, give practice, and only three homework in attempts to prepare you for the test and quizzes.
dr smith is by far the best option for 201, she explains everything thoroughly and is willing to explain it over and over again until it's understood. she wants you to succeed in the class. homeworks are graded by completetion and she gives points for quizzes if you answer a question wrong but with the right idea
Class structure: 4 HW, 4 Quizzes (lowest dropped), 3 tests, and final. Textbook is not needed, but you can purchase one. Everything you need to know is given in the lectures. ATTEND HER LECTURES! Smith goes over so many real-world applications that help you understand. She is the most caring prof ever! If you pay attention, you will 100% have an A.
I think ill end with a B in her class but thats good compared to my peers. Her test are not related to her lectures in class. She needs to give a study guide or something. Shes giving 3 extra credit points out of 400 but thats not gonna do anything. Do not recommend her! she's sweet though. 4 quiz (drop lowest) 4 test including a final 4 homeworks
She is an awesome professor! This was my first cob class and it went well. Be sure to attend every lecture as that's the only way to do good in class. 4 HW assignments, 4 Quizzes (lowest dropped), 3 tests. The final was a mix of questions based on the quizzes and test and it's easy if you study. Overall, the nicest professor in COB I would 100% rec
I love this woman so much. She is fantastic at giving lectures and made econ concepts make sense. Yes, econ is hard. But this is THE Professor you need. The class is test heavy but she is there to answer any questions and has multiple office hours times. Class is graded on 4 quizzes (lowest dropped) and 4 exams. She is so god damn smart 10/10.
Amazing teacher, this was my first econ/cob class I took at JMU and she was supportive when needed. Her class was structured so there were 4 homework and quizzes that weren't too bad. 3 tests then a multiple choice final, structured her multiple choice questions off the homework and quizzes. I would definitely take her again.
Professor Smith is fantastic! Her lectures are engaging and she really helps you understand the concepts. Though tests can be challenging, using Unstuckstudy and the textbook made all the difference in my preparation.
Smith is a very "professor" professor; she lectures, she gives quizzes, she grades. This class is an absolute breeze if you know math. Very kind person and explains things clearly, I don't think its possible to have a bad class with her. I can tell she needs a break.
A very straightforward and kind professor! The material can get challenging at the end, but Dr. Smith does a good job explaining everything.Graded by homeworks and exams. I'll definitely miss her as a professor.
Would 100% recommend for 284. Makes the concepts easy to understand and makes great use of examples. You'll do a decent amount of homework, but they're very helpful for the tests. Also just generally very sweet and wants you to succeed.
I really liked having her as a professor, she's really sweet and explains everything really well, although attendance isn't necessary required I would go just cause she explains everything really well and you won't have to study too much for exams cause she gives you a good foundation
Professor Smith is great. I took Quantitative Analysis, and she was very organized and well prepared. Study well for her tests because they can be a bit challenging. Also, they carry a lot of weight. She drops the last three or four homeworks. If she if available for ECON 284 in the Fall, take her.
