Easy to get along with and will go the extra distance to help you out, all you have to do is ask.

I found her to a good teacher, she knows what she's talking about and she's willing to help. I reccommend her if you like a challenge, because she's tough on you when you're giving speeches!

Great Professor....tough with criticism but the exams help bring up the grades (if you read the book!).

Angela was one of the best teachers I have had at UWO because she really challenges you to be your best and put forth the effort to improve. She is extremely organized and worked hard to involve everyone in the classes. Very high standards for herself, her students and learning. I learned a ton in this class, but I worked my rear off too!

She is very knowledgeable. She is a very tough her criticizer, but she knows her stuff. She is very blunt and tells you the way it is, but if you go and ask her for help she will most definitely help you if you show her you are making and effort.

Angela was challenging, but it was worth it in the long run. She grades appropriately and fairly. Many think she picks favorites, but maybe it's just the social people in class. I disliked her in the beginning, but had a totally different feeling toward the end of the class. Do your work and put some effort in and you will do fine.

she was pretty good. was a good class to take over interum. she knows her stuff and explains it pretty well. is a reasonable grader and was reasonable with my gradeing when i was sick.

At first I was a little intimidated by her, but as the semester went on, I realized that she really cares about her students and wants them to do well. Most of us had a hard time following her lectures, but if you ask questions she's more than willing to explain anything you don't understand.

Angela is a good teacher. She had us do a lot of group work which was difficult regarding everyone's schedules but it applied to the workplace. You have to do a resume and group project.. Overall - good class and one that should be taken by all who are going in to business.

Angela is a good professor who knows the material she teaches. At first I really disliked her, but by the end of semester I really liked her as a teacher. She expects a lot from you, but if you do your work and take the class seriously you will do just fine.

She was a very fun teacher and also is very good at what she does. She made the class very enjoyable.

Angela was pregnant when I took class w/ her & I think all pregnant chicks r hot! Her personality is amazing...very liberal. Expect a lot of homework (esp. during interim), but the homework is very helpful. She is very enthusiastic & loves what she does. The only thing I recommend is not to get down on yourself if u don't get the grade you want

Great speech teacher. I was always pleased with the grade I got from my speeches. However, the midterm and final were extremely challenging. They are the only 2 tests of the semester and they brought my grade down a full letter grade. The class average on the final was a 62%. Be prepared to work!

She knows what she's talking about and will make sure you do everything right.

She seems to be difficult at first, but as long as you follow her guidelines and see her if you need help, this class is not hard at all. Exams are all online, but they are timed and very difficult. I would recommend her!

DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE IF YOU THINK IT WILL BE A CAKEWALK. This teacher is great, if you want to learn something and she really knows what she's doing. On average she is very fun to be around however there have been a few days that were a little on the offside; Ill attribute that to growing family... Great professor, take it and youll love it.

She's a decent teacher. She gets kind of angry if nobody in the class reads the book. Easy midterm. Quite a few little assignments here and there. Gives out attendance points. Pop quizzes every now and then on the material that was supposed to be read for that day.

Good teacher. She is really nice and funny. She is a tough grader on speeches. Read the chapters because she gives pop quizzes. Attend class because she takes attendance most of the time. Don't text in class or she will get mad and call you out. Overall she knows what she is teaching and is a good teacher. I would recommend her.

She is a very poor teacher. she tries to help you out but doesnt do the best job. she is really rude to the students and if she doesnt like your idea for a speech she will trash it. also she tends to choose favorites.

Wow guys, she's not that horrible. I'm taking her class right now during the interim and it's not that bad. I guess the subject itself is a drag but she tries her best to keep it interesting. Just read, follow instructions,practice, and you'll be fine!

She was a little intimidating at first, but once things got rolling she was awesome! very helpful you just have to open your mouth. reading everyone else's comments about it being hard, yeah it's college get over it, grades aren't just handed to you, you have to put time and effort into papers. overall she was awesome and I would take her again!

If you want to be treated like a child, choose a different professor. I was pleasantly surprised with how intelligent she is and how informative and topical our lectures often are, which more than makes up for having to do all those damn speeches haha.

Ms. Westphal is an awesome teacher. During finals week, I slept through my presentation day of my final speech and she still let me take it. She is very understanding if you give her a reason to like you. She only gets to see you during class, so make sure you put on a happy face and respect her. She will treat you the same as you treat her.

Very difficult class grading wise. But, it's college... Come on.. Have her 8 AM, I sit in the back row and it IS a snoozefest at times and I know she knows, but she doesn't grade me any different. VERY intelligent and knowledgable of her topic, which is why it may be so difficult. Recommend her if you want to challenge yourself.

Angela is an awesome professor! She knows what she is talking about. She lays out exactly what she wants you to do. She is also very helpful. If you stop in her office hours for help she will help you. Basically if you put in effort, you will get it in return. I recommend her!

Love this teacher! If you do your work, which she is very clear about, then you will do great! You need your book to take the 4 (quizzes/exams) online. She is very helpful if you email her. Class was not hard at all if you actually try and show up.

Angela is very intellectual about her topic and does not deserve some of the previous reviews. I hate speech but she lets you pick any topic you want and you can make it your own. Show up, do you work, read the book and you'll do well. She's open to your ideas and arguments about really any grade, very mature and understanding. Recommend 100%

Profs, in one way or another, "suck up" to their students so as to get better evals. Whether by easy grading, by trying to be funny, or by relaxing course rules. BUT NOT ANGELA. What I really admire about Angela is that her terrific self- confidence, intelligence, integrity and great work-ethic make her a unique exception to the "suck-up"rule.

I highly recommend her. I hate speeches. You get to choose your topics which helps. Angela is very willing to help. I learned a lot & yes she is passionate about her class & does know her stuff. She tells you on day one what is expected & if you need help she is always willing to without grading you different. I would take her again.

This lady is awesome! She'll make you work--but it's worth it.

She makes you work for your grade, but she is one of the smartest and most competent people I have ever met in my entire life. It's difficult class, but if you do the work you will pass, and she is there to help you at every step of the way.

Angela is no pushover, but she leads by example. She works hard for us so that we will work hard to make the class a success. She's smart and ultra-confident, and she doesn't treat us like pre-school kids with dumb classroom activities or assignments. Be careful choosing other profs for this class. Some of them make wet boxes of rocks seem smart.

She is probably the most intelligent professor I have had and she is willing to give up her time to help students! She makes you work for your grade but in the end it is all worth it. I never liked speaking in public but after her class I feel like I can speak about anything anywhere.

Not an easy speech class but so worth it! I hate public speaking and we only had a few speeches to present. There was an introduction speech, informative speech, persuasive speech, and a special occasion speech. In order to do well in the class you must not piss her off during class by being on your phone, and participate.

I've gotta say that she is an outstanding professor. She doesn't make your life too miserable nor does she make it a cake walk. All of her work is fair although sometimes it is difficult. You have to really work in the class because it is worth it at the end. You will definitely learn things at the end by taking communications with her.

This class helped me get over my fear of public speaking. All of these comments say she makes you work but what professor doesn't. I spent less time working on outlines than I did for WBIS writing papers so I did not mind putting forth my time. She cares for her students and gets to know us on a personal (non student id) basis. Would take again!

I dreaded this class based on the horror stories I'be heard from my friends, about how dumb and pointless this class is. ANGELA IS AWESOME! Definitely not easy, but super-intelligent and funny. Loved this class!

Angela is a very respectful professor and she is easy to get along with. If you simply read the material she assigns and participate in class discussion, the class should go smoothly. Expect a lot of essays and an in-depth group project but overall her tests aren't horrible. She is one of my favorite professors from last semester.

Professor Westphal makes Comm111 really easy to pass. As long as you show up to class, do the online quizzes (which, by the way, are the only sorts of "tests" you will be taking), and apply the syllabus requirements to your speech because really, she tells you everything she expects you to do. Seriously, she makes this class an easy A.

She's an okay professor. As long as you show up for class and do the assignments, then you'll pass.

She is an awesome woman! However, she does make you work to get a decent grade. All tests are open notes, but don't let this fool you they are still tough! I averaged B+ or B on my tests. Also there is a semester long group project that is graded hard. Even though the class is fairly difficult, the teacher is super funny! I would take her again!

Very helpful and personable! Challenges you but if you put the effort and time into your work it will pay off! She is funny and has great stories!

Angela is a great professor. She cares about her students and specializes in teaching freshman. She will make you work for your grade. Getting an A means actually learning the information and knowing how to use it and not regurgitating facts for an exam. Solid professor who makes you actually learn.

Take her she is AMAZING. Not a hard class if you do exactly what she wants, WHICH SHE TELLS YOU!!!! If ur not mature enough don't take this class because she can get sassy, but it's fun.

Grading criteria is very clear, if she tells you to put something in your speech or fix or add something be sure to do it. I've heard mixed things from other classes but for the most part she was a very enjoyable professor. Not an easy A by any means but if you put the work in you'll be fine. I would take her again.

Angela is by far my favorite professor. If you show her you care she will continually help you succeed. Participation is very important! I wish I had her for more of my classes. AMAZINGGGG!!!

Angela was a wonderful public speaking professor. I would definitely take her again. Her assignments are clearly explained, and if YOU DO WHAT SHE ASKS you will get a good grade. There are four total speeches, never got anything lower than an A. Participation in class is for a grade so talk every class period. Overall easy A, take her!!

Angela will always help her students out as they need it. She gives very good feedback because she cares about the students' learning. She makes the class a lot less boring with her humor. I would definitely take this class again.

I'm not 100% sure how I feel about her, she can be nice but she can also be kinda snippy. She doesn't cancel class and in my opinion, grades speeches rather harshly. Also, if you miss more than 6 classes you'll auto fail because that's the equivalent of missing 3 weeks of class.

Angela Westphal was a solid professor. She made what should have been boring lectures fun and interesting. She will make you work for your grade so don't think you can skip class or show up and pass. I found her grading kind of confusing so struggled to get an A. I would take her again because she makes a boring class fun and worth going to.

Angela is a great professor. She is nice to the people that put in every effort to do well in her class. She is very witty and her humor makes the class go fast. She cares about her students as long as you make some effort. Great professor overall.

One of my favorite professors at UWO. Writing has always been easy for me, but Angela challenged my ideas and made me better for it. After taking this class, I can definitely say that I am more comfortable with presenting in my other classes. She is very passionate about the subject and will help you if you need it. Hated the online quizzes though.

Angelas class really took my speech giving skills to the next level. Go into her office hours and have her review your work. She tells you exactly what she wants to see and youll get a good grade in her class. Shes an easy grader in my opinion just put the work in and act confident when you give your speech.

She writes clear rubrics and is willing to help you, she's very understanding and nice. If you do your work and take pride in it, you should have no problem getting an A or B

She is very kind and helpful. Will respond to emails quickly. You can tell she genuinely cares about her students. As for the class, it is not a ton of work, expect you will have weekly quizzes and 3 speeches. You will have assignments leading up to the speeches to help. She does a great job at helping people succeed.
