I have been to this class maybe 10 times this whole semester. So boring. Do extra credit homework or you'll be sorry.

Class is very boring, but easy to pass. Take class if you need to get some science credit's out of the way...
Mrs. Yau is an amazing professor! She is very helpful and knowledgeable. She offers tons of extra credit so there is no reason one shouldn't get an A. I hated biology before I took her, but I actually enjoyed her class and learned a lot. I definitely rec
this class is very easy to get a good grade in, but she isn't a good teacher. her class is boring, but if you are looking for an easy grade, take her.
Class is easy if you do HW for extra credit. I was not too interested in Biology before, but she gave real world examples that helped me out alot. She is also very helpful and will spend extra time to help you get the information. There is lot of info!
Do the Hw for extra credit cause it will help out with the overall grade of the course.
She has harder tests than I was expecting, but the homework is extra credit and it helps toward your final grade.
Ok class, the tests are more extenstensive then the discussions and assignments she gives. they are quite harder than I thought they would be, but you can pull off a b or c. Do the homework! you will get like a completey higher grade if you do!
Took online section. Very challenging to those who have been out of school awhile and not up on their basic biology. This class is great! Angela Yau is knowledgeable and helpful. Tests are challenging but easy to pass if you read the text, do the quizzes and participate in the discussions. First 1/2 of course difficult, but it gets better!
Awesome teacher. Awesome class. Awesome summer semester! :)
Take this teacher!!! Mrs. Yau is great. The requirements are clear. Do the reading and take the quizzes and you'll do fine.
I took this class online. The professor is very helpful and the assignments are clear. I haven't taken biology in a long time, so I started with this intro class. As long as you participate in the discussions and read the textbook, you should do fine on tests. I got an A!
GREAT TEACHER!!! I took her online class and she is extremely helpful. I wasn't even interested in this subject and I have learned a lot!!! Very easy to pass since you can take each homework quiz 3 times. Discussions are due every week. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!!!
Excellent teacher! You will love her online course. BSC1001 was easy to understand for students who is illiterate in science.
What an awesome teacher!!! And she makes it enjoyable. Take her class on campus or online. She is a treat and so helpful!
I took this online; the course was easy & involves weekly discussion post and a 5 question quiz due each week. Gives you 4 days to complete online tests and helpful study guides. Angela wasn't great at responding to emails though which I found frustrating. Easy class if you aren't big on biology. Recommend online if possible.
this was an interesting class but not because of this teacher. There was absolutely no feedback/contact from her at all. She posted automated announcements once a week and that was it. She obviously didn't even look at discussions/questions. if you emailed her she would respond but I would expect the person running the class to partake in it
She was a great online teacher. I would take her class again!
She made the class very interesting and easy, she puts everything out there that she expects and it is up to you to do it and make the grade. Do what she expects and you will pass with flying colors!!!!!
Good teacher. Took the online class and got an A+ and I normally suck at bio. You can take quizzes three times so 100% on quizzes is pretty much guaranteed.
Great teacher. Drops lowest grades, so you could potentially skip the final and get an A. Fast responses, easy quizzes, fun projects.
This class was challenging but opened my eyes to lots of environmental issues I had no idea about! Great Prof, responsive and understanding, shows passion for subject.
I took ZOO1503C.OM1 online. There was one easy quiz a week that you could take three times, and two weekly discussion posts. The two exams (no final)are pretty tough, and you'll need to read your textbook and take notes. There are two projects as well-get them done early! Professor Yau is very accessible and helpful,a good class overall.
Angela was super helpful and shared her love of biology. I was actually surprised to enjoy the class so much. Great professor!
Good Class, I was doubtful at first about projects but ended up loving the class and learning a lot! Angela is very supportive and shows she cares about Ecology.
Took her intro to biology online and it was a great experience, will be taking another of her classes again.
The online class is very easy and one of the best setup online classes that I have had. I got an A in her class and I did not even have to take the final exam. I also did not use the book at all, I didn't even buy the book and thats pretty good for an Accounting major. :)
Professor Yau is an excellent professor. She is very dedicated to helping students absorb the information. I really enjoyed her class(energy and ecology) and would recommend it to anyone! Professor Yau rocks!
Was surprised how much I liked the class, don't dig bio but Ms. Yau made it really interesting!
This was my 1st online class. It was a great class and I didnt have any interest in Biology. I didnt use the book hardly at all. I got an A in this class. I never studied..easy
This was my 1st online class. It was a great class and I didnt have any interest in Biology. I didnt use the book hardly at all. I got an A in this class. I never studied..easy class
I loved this online class. One 5 Question quiz per week you can take 3 times, 2 exams (gives great power points and study guides), 2 projects/papers, and two discussion posts per week. Great organization and quick to respond to emails. I made an A and science is not my thing! Take this class!!!
uber easy online class.
Prof. Yau was extremely helpful. Her syllabus gives you all the information and due dates ahead of time. Work at your own pace, but have your discussion post quiz done each week. You have 3 attempts per quiz and your post is your own thoughts, how could you fail? We had 2 projects and plenty of time to do. Overall great class. Highly Recommend!
Extremely helpful. Easy class to get an A in. Responded to emails in a prompt manner. Learned alot about Florida.
It's an easy class if you do all the work. The discussions every week are easy. You get three chances at the 5 question quizzes. Do the projects early they sneak up on you. Overall good class. I'm taking another one of her classes so she's pretty good and well organized.
I had Yau's online 1503C class. the class was pretty easy, Theres a discussion & quiz each week that arent hard. I spent an hour a week on this class. the two projects were fun & she gives study guides for the two exams. there are 6 grades and she drops the lowest one. she is very nice and responds quickly to emails. Easy A if you do the easy work!
I took Angela's class in the spring online. I was not interested in this subject before taking it but I learned so much. There is 2 projects- 1 is volunteer and then write a paper and the other is a PPT. There are quizzes and discussions every week and only 2 exams. This class made me want to explore FL. Loved it.
Excellent professor! Very helpful and clear!
Excellent professor! Took her class online she is very helpful and clear!! Highly recommend taking her class!
An absolute wonderful experience. I thought I hated science but after this semester I think I hated my experiences with other science professor. Took the class online and I highly recommend taking this course for anyone who isn't a science whiz.
Really enjoyed this Florida ecology class... GREAT content! - I took it online over the summer. As long as you keep up with the homework, it's a pretty easy class. Each week, there's one quiz, & two discussion posts. Beside the two exams, there's two projects: a powerpoint, & volunteering (my favorite!) Highly recommend this course!
I took her online class this summer. She was clear, interesting and made learning Biology fun. She allowed 3 attempts for each quiz so it was impossible not to get 100%. Just make sure to post your discussions for the week and you'll do great!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. VERY HARD ONLINE. ALL TEST AND QUIZZES ARE TIMED.
I am currently taking Fall Online. It is VERY teach yourself. No powerpoints or notes. just read the chapter, write a discussion and take a quiz every week. ALL QUIZ QUESTIONS ARE ON TESTS!!!! Two onsite projects, really easy as she tells you exactly what to do. Just know before hand that you it is very teach yourself!!!
I took this class online. She's very up front with you in the beginning. A quiz and post are due every Sunday, 2 exams, 2 papers. I wrote it all on a calendar so I didn't miss any assignments. Turned out to be pretty easy. Yau is easy to talk to. Pretty chill lady.
Great Professor! Have 2 postings per week as well as a quiz each week. Great professor Very easy class if you pay attention. She is VERY understanding
This class is awesome wonderful instructor. Great for a working parent.Homework is due every Sunday. You complete two discussions a week. Two projects. Easy A/B, you have to be organized and eager to do the work.
Took her online BSC1001 course in Spring. Coursework included 2 discussion postings each week, a weekly quiz, and 5 total exams. She drops the lowest score out of these, so that relieved some stress for the course! The tests are timed and challenging, but you can be successful if you studied well for it. Definitely recommend this class!
Awesome Professor! I took her online BSC1001 in the Spring. We had 2 posts a week and then a quiz. We had a total of 5 exams and the lowest one was dropped. Make sure to study and read the book. Exams are straight forward if you read and study. I would recommend this class to anyone!!!
As an adult student, I found the online class to be very organized and well suited for my busy schedule. It was set up well. The only issue I had was communicating with the instructor. She took days to weeks to get back to me via email. I found that extremely frustrating. Others in the class also mentioned it. Overall, though, I enjoyed the class.
The first setions were more difficult for me because it covered a lot of Chemisty and cells. Once that was over, it became much easier. YOU MUST STUDY!!!!
The homework and.quizes are easy for this class. Theres minimal effort in whats needed to pass. That being said, it takes days and Weeks even for the teacher to email you back...its an online class and so thsts very frustraiting. Also she only offers the text book as a way to study. No vocab or any real teaching method. Very hard to learn.
Took class online. Got an A. She was easy to understand and if you pay attention you can get an A.
DO NOT take this teacher. It takes her days, weeks even for replies back to you. its an online class so her emails or sort of important for learning. Her lectures are print outs of the book, so theres literally NO teaching done by this teacher. Also, I got 100 in everything except two Ds on two exams and two Cs on two exams and still only got a C+.
Great teacher, gives plenty of time between assignments. Grades fairly. Took her Summer C Online, amazing experience!!
I took the online class. She rarely responds, if that. It seems she only gets on when the next week begins just to remind you what you have to do. The exams are hard, you have to really really really know your material in order to get an A. The plus side is 3 chances for quizzes and easy discussions.
Quizzes/exams are timed (not enough time if you ask me), but you do get three shots at each quiz, which is 5 questions long (however, not the exams) and she drops your lowest exam grade. Definitely need to know the material to do well. Easy weekly discussions. I like that you can work ahead. Put minimal effort and got a B+.
To start off I was forced to purchase a proprietary textbook that was ONLY sold at Santa Fe bookstore it wasn't cheap. You do 2 posts/1 quiz weekly.2 exams 50 questions in 50 minutes.be sure you know your stuff or have notes from the quizzes. You are required to do an 8 hr community project. And a group project. She is slow at returning emails.
Took this professor because of her high reviews on here but quickly regretted it. Not sure if her curriculum has changed but the quizzes were difficult and the exams are impossible to study for. Each exam has about 10 questions from the quizzes but the remaining 40 seem to come out of nowhere and not enough time to finish (1hr for 50 questions).
Discussion 1/week, leaves room to speak your mind, very open and easy. Quiz once a week, you need to understand the reading. Same with exams. Some things are straight from the book and some make you use your head more. I never had to contact the teacher. I would take this class with her again. Extra credit offered, low grades dropped.
A great teacher very helpful and grades fairly. The work is based on the course book and attendance is important. If you are taking a science course I would highly recommend this teacher.
She's willing to talk to you and help you out in any way. She's a no nonsense type either. Her tests are hard but she provides plenty avenues to study. This is my second semester with her as I've had her in her ecology class (She's not as active in Intro to bio as she is in Energy & Ecology).
Easy class. Weekly discussion posts/quizzes, 2 exams, and a group project. The textbook is required and is expensive if you buy it new from the campus bookstore or used from renttext, so I recommend finding one on Craigslist if you can.
I was expecting an easy online class, but I was quickly caught off guard. The weekly quizzes and discussions are manageable but the exams are practically impossible. Look for random questions that are irrelevant to the quizzes. Its tough to get in reach with her since she takes awhile to respond through email, even worse she lives out of state.
This is an online class and the professor was not particularly good in responding to emails. The quizzes are pretty easy however do not prepare you for the exams. The weekly postings are not difficult.
LOVE her classes. Took two. Weekly discussion posts (2), weekly (easy!) quizzes, 2 exams, 1 group project, 1 volunteer project. Clear cut syllabus, you know exactly what to do and when, extremely appreciated when you're doing online classes! She loves her ecology and spreads it to her students. I like to teach myself, so if you don't, be prepared..
4 Tests (50 questions) , 2 assignments(1 original response to a post and 1 response to a classmates post), and 1 five-question quiz each week. The weekly assignments are not an issue, tests are super hard, and the questions are poorly worded. You're expected to know everything from the book and more. You cant use notes or the book while taking it.
Her online animal behavior class was awesome! I had an A so I did not have to take the final exam! one group project to make a powerpoint, one 8 hour community service project w paper, two exams, and weekly quizzes and discussion posts. Easy class and you learn a lot! Note: Her Biology class is harder than the ecology and AB she teaches.
I thought this was a great class. We had weekly discussions and quizzes which were due every Sunday night giving the whole weekend to prepare which worked well with my schedule. There was a field study project which I was not crazy about but all in all a great class. I have signed up for her next semester.
I wish I had not taken this class simply because the tests were impossible. I tried so hard, but the questions were too ambiguous, as many students complained about openly on discussion forums. The book was great, though!
The tests were tough, and I didn't really think previous class work prepared you for them. Luckily the material was fairly interesting, but still very tough. Ended up giving extra credit but didn't tell you it was extra credit. Group project was bad being online. Makes you do community service and get documented then write paper about it.
Her online Energy Ecology class was easy! One group project to make a powerpoint, one 8 hour community service project and write a paper on it, two exams, weekly quizzes, and weekly discussion posts. The class is at least an easy B, the only hard part are the two exams! Note: Her Biology class is harder than the ecology and behavior she teaches.
I cannot stress this enough... DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Tests were impossible. Even with the open book quizzes there was no right answer. I messaged Prof. Yau with questions and she never responded. She knew she was wrong. Save your GPA! I made a B+ somehow. It killed me. Interesting book, though.
Professor Yau only responded to a couple of my questions. In an online course, this is unacceptable. After reading some reviews, I thought I could tolerate her BSC1001, but no. Many of my classmates complained the tests were impossible... I agree!
I took Yau in the summer for an online course. I had to with drawl from the class with a W. She never responded to any of my emails and the quizzes and test were really hard.
Highly recommend AGAINST taking this class. Like a lot of the other reviewers mention, she never responds and her exams are out of this world hard.
The first exam is difficult if you aren't sure what to study, but overall the class is easy to follow.
All in all I'd say she's just okay. I've had worse professors but she definitely wouldn't make it into my top list. She lives in MD so she's really not connected with her students at all and she can take up to a week or more to reply to emails. Also the group projects are terrible. Almost no guidance was given to us on what she expected.
Horrifying. There is no communication with this professor. She claims she has fixed the issue and blames it on Canvas, but this is unfortunately NOT the case. At least the book was very interesting. I adore biology, but her exams come from outer space. Seriously, you could find answers in the text. Tests are proctored.
Professor Yau Yau is alright, honestly. I found the material in this course to be challenging, though, and her tests will make or break your grade. Some of the questions are overly difficult for no reason. There are very few assignments, only tests, quizzes, and discussion posts, so I never spoke to her at all. Didn't get much out of it, honestly.
100% regret taking this class. I didn't get to learn anything with a free mind because I was focused on figuring out her strangely worded exam questions. All my classmates said the same thing. Too bad, because I love biology.
I took this class on-line and it saved me from having to take a much harder class like biology. A great choice for sure!
Save yourselves! Yau's exams are insane. Run as fast as you can!
