Very helpful and sincere; not that easy, but willing to help students who really try. Geography isn't really my thing but class is still enjoyable.

I took her class online, I made an A, but compared to other teachers she grades hard. But if you do the work and take the quizzes then you'll do fine. She is very helpful too.

She is a VERY helpful professor. I thought it was an easy class as long as you know what is due and when. She was very quick to respond to e-mails and posts. I would take her class again if I needed too! For an online class, this was easier than others I have taken.

She expects you to get your work don and on time, expects you to do your best. She's not so easy, but she is friendly,helpful and seems to want to help you with success in her class. Not easy, as other people said, but fair and eager to help you if you do the work and follow instructions. I did like the variety of projects,, assignments and stuff - more chances to get a good grade without depending on tests alone.

Good Online class! Alot of work but you can get an A. There are Weekly Discussion questions, Discussion Boards, Team Project and Individual Project. There are 4 timed quizzes that are a bit difficult. She is nice, helpful, loves her subject and responds quick to E-mails. I missed a quiz and she let me make it up. Read Syllabus/Deadlines.

Professor Mance combines material knowledge, a vast array of assignments, and a stern, amiable teaching style to make her class very interesting and very educational. The projects are interesting and she expects you to really learn, not just copy and paste assignments. Quickly responds to e-mails and questions. A great professor.

This class is not an overly easy online class, but in the end I liked it. Teacher responded quickly to questions and was very helpful. People who did not read syllabus or due dates complained, but I read everything the 1st day and had no probs following the course. I do not like the text, but I think all classes at FCCJ use the same one.

I was not interested in geography at all, but had to take the class. I actually ended up enjoying it and learning more than I thought I would. READ HER SYLLABUS. It is pretty clear and very detailed, and she really sticks to it. There was enough of a variety of assignments where you can do well even if you are not a good test taker.

I enjoyed the class more than I thought I would. I'm not a big fan of the subject, but she made it kinda interesting. Pay attention to the syllabus and due dates, and READ those boring chapters (I didn't like the book)! She is very helpful and reponds almost right away all the time.

Not a "gimme" grade, she expects you to work but is extremely helpful and seems very intelligent (we exchanged many emails about my country project and she is like an encyclopedia). She doesn't tolerate fools, but seems eager to help students learn. I hate the textbook, though.

She knows her stuff and doesn't tolerate foolishness, but will bend over backwards to help you if you are actually trying. Like someone else said, she's like an enecyclopedia of knowledge. Liked her class, but hate the textbook! Variety of graded opportunities in case you aren't a good test taker you can still earn a good grade if you work hard.

Dr. Mance is tough but fair and smokin' smart. She knows what she's doing and expects you to as well. Hate the textbook, as others have said. She is VERY helful and responds quickly. Just make sure you stick to the syllabus.

I'm not much on geography but she makes it interesting because she knows so much and relates it to everyday life.The book is hard to read and understand, at least for me. There is alot of work in the class but it's not busy work but stuff you can learn from. Professor Mance in not a pushover but is very caring and helpful. I'd take her again.

Very enjoyable course if you enjoy geography, history, and an on-the-ball professor. She'll tell you straight up that she expects alot out of you but will also be so helpful in the process. Textbook is a snooze but she posts stuff that she writes in class and it's good.

Tests are difficult, even if you take superb notes. Book is a snore. No extra credit. Do the posts & semester activity well & you should pass.

The textbook it awful and she grades very hard. Passable class but not an easy A. The subject is very boring, its not where are countries located, its more about their culture and stuff. Her tests are pretty difficult but I finished with a B

Challenging class. I found prof to be strict but helpful and she was willing to take a look at papers before i submitted them for grading. Responded to emails quickly but a stickler for deadlines. I learned alot but had to work for it. Assignments were not just busy work and there is a alot of work, but doable if you keep to the schedule.

READ all course documents and u will b ok. Not an easy class but not as bad as some reviews here say. Prof holds you responsible for meeting due dates and stuff but will help u too. Got an A.

She is very stict as far as her grading ruberic. Just make sure you triple check your work because she'll find anything to mark you down. Otherwise, the class was pretty interesting. She does grade fast enough to keep you up to date and is definitely there when it comes to answering student questions. Somewhat recommended.

I agree the class is not an easy one, but found that the teacher answered most all question sin about 24 hours and did not have a problem reaching her. Textbook was boring but then most are in my opinion. Quizzes are open to take as many times as you wish for what the syllabus calls "mastery learning" so not sure what problems there were.

I'm just about to finish this class and should get an A (hope). Dr. Mance follows the syllabus to the letter as some already said. I don't see that as all bad, because at least I knew what to go by. She was helpful to me, answered my questions within a day and seemed genuenly interested in helping me do my best. Geography is not my favorite subject

I have read the reviews and while i don;t care for the textbook I did like the class. I had a family emergency in the middle of the semester and she really helped me with catching up. She is tough but fair and I think she really likes students. We had some lazy people in our group and she didn't take that too well. I'd take another class with her.

I'm about to finish this class and I liked it. If you like structure and knowing exactly what to expect, take her. The class is organized and does not veer from the syllabus. If you don't like something highly structured look elsewhere. The material was more interesting than I thought it would be, and she was helpful.

The class was pretty straight forward. Quizzes and discussions weren't hard at all. The first quiz had some wrong answers on it, but she corrected everyone's score. Quizzes are not timed and you can take them as many times as needed before the due date. Overall, I enjoyed the course. Take this professor.

I just finished the course and didn't have any problem with getting a reply back but agree that she is tough on the discussion boards, they are easy if you don't copy and paste but she will fry you if you do. Read the syllabus and you'll be fine. I enjoyed the class as much as you can enjoy geography and found her to be pretty helpful.

Geography was better than I thought it would be. Teacher was cool, book was boring, there were some interesting topics in the class. Two papers were required but not bad. I recommended it my roommates.

Took this class in the fall and liked it okay. Teacher was helpful and knew alot about geography. chatted with us alot in db's and online and tried to be helpful when I had problems. I do not like oneline courses they do not work for me but all in all the teacher made it a good experience and tried to help me overcome issues with online stuff.

Taking this class now, so far so good. A friend works at this college and told me all online courses are getting standardized now, so I think course work is same just different teacher. She seems nice enough and responds pretty quick. Grading is done by rubric but pretty fair. I've slipped up a few times not reading syllbus but still have an "A"

My roommate and I are taking this class and it is almost done. Teacher was pretty quick to respond and helpful when we asked for stuff. She sticks to the syllabus and deadlnes pretty hard. Overall the class was pretty good and interesting at times.

Whew just finished this course. Heavy workload with alot of stuff to do but as somene I saw earlier said in a post most classes are standardized now and the one I dropped last semester was just like this. Instructor pretty helpful but follow syllabus closely and you will do ok. Not really a fan of geogrpahy.

Prof really helped me through a difficult semester. This was my first online course. Geography kind of boring but she makes it real to you. Recommend her highly if you have to take this course. Responds quickly to students and seems to really care about class. Lot sof reading.

Alot of reading but enjoyed the class. Teacher was nice but strict on syllabus and due dates. I got behind due to having a baby and she was helpful. Nice in answering emails and discussions and makes the class interesting. Have to do a research project in but she helps with your outline.

If you follow the syllabus, you will do fine. She expects attendance by participating in discussions, quizzes are open book, and she gives you an outline to follow for your research paper. It's an easy A...IF you put the time in. I work full time and have to children under 5 and did fine. I would definitely reccomend her!!

Class project was fun (virtual vacation destination) that you do do papers or videos or whatevs. Nice professor, but make sure to read syllabus. Helpful and smart about Geography. Recommend.

Agree with other about careful readying the syllabus and there being alot of reading but currently taking the class and its better than I thought it would be. Teacher is active in class and discusses alot of interesting topics that I didn't expect in geography. Recommend her if you have to take the class.

If you follow the syllabus, you will be fine. The first discussion board is you introducing yourself. Make sure to tell a lot about yourself. One or two lines on discussion boards will not cut it. The papers assigned are not too difficult. Highly Recommend.

Very nice lady. Genuinely cares about her students and is helpful when you have a question.

She gives very clear guidelines in the syllabus. If you follow that then you'll be fine. She doesn't grade papers too hard and was very helpful when I had questions. If you're willing to do the work then she's a great professor.

She is a very good instructor if you have questions she will reply back and I had a question everyday and she was very nice about it if I needed any assistance she would be more then happy to answer and which she did. I highly recommend her if you are raking another class that requires a lot of work because this class is a breeze.

Prof was very genuine. I ask a lot of questions and she never got ticked off, always patient and helpful. Response time was fine, though a little longer over weekends which I guess is expected. Seemed to really care about all os us and posted so many things I didn;t even know about that were geography. We skyped so she could help me,

Weeky quizzes and discussions and a couple of papers so lot of work but about the same as other classes. Prof was cool and good to answer questions also helped me with questions over video chat so nice about putting time toward class. Not bad for online class and learned alot.

This class was time consuming. The discussion boards are boring and the professor expects a lot out of them. There were 2 small papers, one 5 page and a research paper also.

Typical workload. Unlike some online classes that you can do at any time this one does have deadlines and professor holds to syllabus. Smart and funny and nice when talking with students and likes to tell you interesting stuff and was pretty quick to respond. I ended up liking geography but would not have taken unless I had to. Good class to take.

Had no problem with professor or workload - quality pretty good on both. Do not like 8 week classes though - too much too fast. Will only take 12 or 16 week from now on. Interesting class.

Good online class. Professor was quick to reply. Very good with responses in discussions. Tried to get a little more out of you after you completed your work and make you think about the subject.

Could not care less about geography but she made it interesting and relating it to real life. I am older and returning to school and she spent two hours with me on skype chat teaching me how to handle online class. Could not have asked for better experience. God bless her.

Never met as class is online but helped me out when I got behind. This was my first 100% online course and I would def recommend her. Gave me help and patients and even the class material was not so boring as I first thought after hearing it explained by her.

Variety of stuff to do like discussions, quizzes and some papers. Not work at your own pace but weekly deadlines but will help you and was seeming to really like students. Some others were right about follow syllabus closely but I learned alot.

I think too much work was due in theis class but I think all teachers use the same course and book at the college so you really can't escape it. Teacher was helpful and willing to talk if you need help. Geography was better than I thought as I expected to hate it

Detailed discussions due and other assignments each week, nothing too bad. Expected map quizzes out the ying yang but it was different from that. Teacher responded quickly and grades were pretty fair overall.

Mandatory class for me but turned out ok. Much reading to do but otherwise ok. Discussions quizzes and a few short papers not too bad. Teacher helpful made things more interesting. Graduating now!

Take this class with HER. That's all I'm going to say. Prof did a good job in making it like a face 2 face class like she really cared.

Very helpful teacher. Wasn't crazy about textbook but they all they use the same one now so I would have been stuck with it anyway. She was easy to understand and helpful all along. This was not nearly as bad as I was dreading due to her. Take this class.

Knows how to make an online class feel face 2 face. lots of opportunities for you whether you are better at papers or discussions or whatever you will find something to make a good grade at and shes willing to help you with whatever.

Course work isn't overbearing and is actually pretty fun in most cases. Discussions are open and good if you're opinionated like myself. Overall, great professor and good with getting back to you through email.

I didn't expect much as class was all online but professor was really "there" which was a surprise. Standard awful book, but have been told all grog classes use the same one so nothing you can do there. Average work load but professor very helpful if you ask for it. Found out during discussion that she is handicapped has dons a lot.

This was my second class with her and I took it just because I needed an elective and liked her the first time. Has high standards for assignments but not hard if you do the work and she is helpful and fair. Very interesting class so far and she interacts a lot on the discussions and email. Textbook is expensive but all classes there use the same.

Cultural Geography turned out to be more likable than I thought. Textbook was sleep inducing but class was not. Professor really seemed to be there and helpful at that. Veraity of work helped me since I am not a good test taker. Would definitely recommend the class and would like to take other classes with the prof. She made a great class!

Was let into the class last minute when I discovered I had goofed up and needed one more class. Very kind in helping me get caught up. Expects participation and quality work but will help you. Quick to answer emails and discussion posts but hard to get on the phone. Enjoyed the class overall - hated the textbook though. Piece of crap book!

Really enjoyable class mostly because of the professor. Responds quickly and pleasantly to e-mail, which is especially appreciated by older students such as myself. All courses for GEA 1000 use the same textbook which I hated. Average work load plus great professor, so take this class! You won't regret it.

Professor Mance was a good teacher. She was clear about what she wanted and I appreciate that. She isn't a terribly harsh grader. As an instructor she was nice. Only a couple points of criticism. The tests are quite difficult. Even though you can look through the book, they were still hard. Also, the book we used was the worst text ever, EVER!

Like others hated the book, but I think all the geography teachers use the same one. Prof. was knowledgeable about the subject and talked a lot with the class on the discussion board. Very straightforward about assignments and grading. Actually enjoyed this class though I didn't think I would. Have always hated geography until now. Great class!

Almost done with this class and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Never had geography before but it was interesting to learn about world cultures.

Just got done with a short summer term. Syllabus was our 'contract' and she follows it but is up front about her standards and helps you meet them. I like that there were many different ways of earning grades, like discussions, a paper, and quizzes. If you are bad at one thing but better at another there are different chances to earn good grades.

Recently finish this class and surprisingly enough I liked it. I didn't have much interest in geography, but she made it interesting. Almost all of the courses that I've taken at this college are standardized, So workload is the same no matter who you take. This one was quick to respond to emails and discussion posts, and really seem to care.
