very nice and lenient teacher. you just have to put time into studying and understanding the material to pass the class. a little accent but not unbearable.

She was very helpful, if you come to office hours with questions. If you pay attention to lectures, you do fine. (sit in the front) She was extremely helpful, if you have any questions she is happy to answer them. I am not a science major, but would take this class again, because she was a great professor.

Take her for Physical Science online! This is the easiest class I have taken at FAU so far. She is very understanding and helpful. I received a A without even trying.

She's actually pretty nice. Write down ALL of her examples and all the steps to solve the problems from notes, chapter reviews and test reviews and you will get an A. Sit towards the front because she is soft spoken and has a thick accent. Hard to get a hold of by email, but very helpful during office hours, so just go there. No book needed.

Prof. has a German accent that may take time to understand, but very kind and helpful.3 tests and they're all very easy and similar to study guides she provides. Lots of extra credit, but most if not all of it you have to be in class for. Don't leave during class. MasteringPhysics tough/may not be used again. High enough grade no final. Attend!

took her for Physics 2. she has strong French accent, her lecture is kind of boring, but she post them all online. she gives study guide a week before the test, they are very helpful and the tests are similar to it. she is very helpful at her office, and give lot of extra credits, if you get less than B, then there something wrong with you.

Took her online for Physical Science best decision ever. Unlimited attempts for assignments and gives extra credit. You have to be extremely lazy to get a failing grade. TAKE HER!!!! I received an A+.

Hotiu gives out reviews for exams which are extremely similar to the real exams. She also gives a ton of extra credit, if is possible to have a 120 in the class if you participate and go to class for online extra credits. Don't buy textbook, only the online access to takes quizzes

Professor Hotiu is awesome, honestly she is funny, cute and smart! Don't sit in the back and slack. Yes anyone could pass but she's not giving out A's unless you earn it. She gives plenty of learning materials, practice questions,many opportunities to Ace the class. Her lectures are more teaching than just reading off power points. Appreciate her.

Dr. Hotiu is by far the better of the two Physics teachers I've had at FAU. I read some of the complaints below and they seem to be very exaggerated IMO. This class is a lot of work but she helps and guides you the whole way. Most Physics teachers are not like that. The hardest part is the exams. Practice the study guide a lot and you'll pass.

Best professor I've had in my 2 years at FAU. She cares about her students, and always responds to emails. Her lectures go into a lot of detail, and make you truly understand the material. Will require some physics 1 background. Tests are super easy and have extra credit. Currently have a 119% in the class.

Online class- very sweet professor answered my emails quick and the work online is not bad at all. Most answers you can find online if you need help. 10 discussion/10 quizzes/ 3 exams/ A final/ Mastering Lab assignments. (quizlet is very helpful)

This class is SO easy, especially online since you only have 3 quick assignments due a week. Also, each quiz can be taken an unlimited amount of times, the exams can be taken twice, and you do not need to take the tests using lockdown browser so you can use notes. Super easy class, highly recommend if you just need an easy A.

I want to preface that I'm not good at physics. However, Prof Hotiu offers a lot of source material and practice that will help you understand if you take the time to go over it. Students disrespect her because she has an accent, but it was never an obstacle for me. Just sit in front and take notes. 3 exams, 10 quizzes, 10 MyLabAssign, and 1 Final.

She is a real gem. Her accent is perfectly understandable. she speaks better English than most of my professors. She gives you tons of extra credit, provided that you do the work. I am not the best at physics and I passed with an A (102.3)

THE BEST PHYSICS PROFESSOR! There are 5 tests and a final plus online homework. Before each test she goes over practice exams which is similar to her actual tests but is in no way a give away. You have to still study. She makes it easier to study and also offers extra credit. Do the practice tests and it's an EASY A!!

If you see her as an option TAKE HER. took Zipfel first time & got a D & had to retake. Currently retaking it with Hotiu & im really upset she wasnt there the first time. Theres 2-3 online quizzes (unlimited tries) with each test, hw due weekend after test. hw is VERY short. test ?s come from study guides & hw, all multiple choice. best prof.

If you're going to take college physics don't take anyone else but her. LOTS OF EC. But show up to class it's not mandatory but just to know the material. HW is online very easy you get like 4 attempts on each question. Also, she gives study guides for each exam and most of the questions are on the exams, she tells you what's on final and it's true

I normally don't rate professors, but she was the BEST. This class was extremely easy. I wold recommend taking it online versus in the classroom. Each week we had discussion question and quiz assignments. Some discussion question were extra credit. The MyLab assignments were easy as well. She does video conferencing if you need help.

Honestly a great professor and the class is an easy gpa boost. The only problem is that she is a little slow answering emails.

She is a great teacher. Lectures are heavy but she makes a great effort to explain the material. She also goes over practice problems in class and teaches how to use formulas very well. Attendance isn't mandatory but she gives credit through learning catalytics when you get the right answers.

I took her for physical science online and it was one of my favorite classes. The material is easy to understand. There are unlimited quiz retakes, tests are short and similar to the quizzes. There is a discussion and an assignment on mastering physics a week. Just keep up with the assignments and you'll pass.

This class is an easy A. There is work that you will have to put in, but what class doesn't make you work for your grade. Would definitely take again!

Dr. Hotiu is very sweet professor. I took her for both Physics I and II. Her lectures do get long and boring but at the end, she is willing to explain things to you if you don't understand them. If you're concerned about passing, do all of her homework, the learning catalytics, and do your absolute best on the tests.

Awesome professor. I was nervous going into Physics II, but she made the class easy and understandable. Attendance isn't mandatory but she gives out a lot of extra credit in class. If you just go to class and do the extra credit, you will pass. I finished with a 105% just from all the extra credit. That and studying for the exams. Pretty easy.

Best and most caring professor at FAU so far! She made physics so easy to understand. As long as you do all your assignments well you will comprehend and pass this course. I am retaking this course, thankfully with her currently and my current grade before the final which we will be taking soon is an A. So when I say she's incredible I mean it.

her study guides are the test. the powerpoints are short and she has in class extra credit just bring a laptop or iPad because you cant access it on your phone. if you have an A in the class you dont have to take the final. i had a 116% and she put a 0 in for my final and i finsihed with 100%. no possible way you can fail. she has a HEAVY accent

She's descent. Go to class especially the exam reviews. She has a little bit of an attitude sometimes. Exams are curved, no reason not to do well

She has an accent but youre still able to comprehend her . She gives out a huge amount of extra credit on something called learning catalytics. Her exams are extremely identical to the study guide she provides the class before. Youre guaranteed an A if you do the extra credits (even if its not all), if you maintain an A/B on the exams and do hwk

Professor Hotiu is nice, she grades you on exams and homework. The homework is submitted through a program called Wiley (super easy) and she gives reviews that are very similar to her exams. Take her! :)

Hoitu was a wonderful professor - she really cares for the students and was very nice. The class is homework heavy and there were attendance problems open for about a week after the lecture. Homeworks did have multiple attempts though and exams weren't too bad. If you put in the work, you can get the A and she is very caring.

Dr. Hotiu is so nice. She is one of the best professors I have ever had at FAU. I was nervous at first about the material in this class but she explains everything very well and even helps you one-on-one if you need it. She made physics a very enjoyable course for me. Would def recommend her.

She is the best professor I've had at FAU. Tests are just like the study guides and hw and her lectures explain everything in detail. If you pay attention and do the work, there is no way you can not finish with an A. She responds quickly to emails, answers all questions and is a very nice person who wants students to do well in her class.

Hotiu is so caring! She gave us SO many opportunities to raise our grades which was the best! Her tests are fairly easy (if you study) but there are definitely other ways to boost your grade. If youre online, you have discussions, quizzes and homework. I would definitely take her again for physics 2!

She reminds me so much of my grandma and I want to hug her! lol. Very easy class, homework and quizzes had unlimited attempts so there were no excuses for not getting full points. Exams were roughly 25 questions with over an hour and 30 mins to take, very easy if you follow her study guides. Highly recommend and will take her for Physics 2.

She gives unlimited attempts on hw and it's mostly multiple choice so it's easy! I hope she never changes her grading criteria because other science professors will give you stress to learn about material that has nothing to do with your major.

She organized the class very easily and was clear about assignments to set you up for success. She would give multiple days to take the test with lockdown browser no camera. Professor Hotiu made her class very accessible and easy to complete! She answered emails promptly and was a complete gem. This was a 6-week online class, and there were a few chapters due each week but the professor made it so it wasn't difficult at all.

If you are on the verge between Gross and Hotiu. Do yourself a favor and choose her. She really cares about her students. If you have a question she can help you work it out Overall a very sweet professor .

It's physics so of course it is hard, but she does her best to offer students possibilities to do well in the exams and get a good grade. She gives tons of extra credit. You have to put some effort and do the homework. She drops the lowest test score. Does practice and review problems which are great to study before the exam.

Dr. Hotiu is an excellent professor. She goes through the notes at a brisk pace, but does go through the math sections at a slower pace. Her exams are not difficult, she bases them on the study guides that she provides. Would 100% take her class again.

I took her online, I highly recommend! She is a very nice lady, respectful and kind. HW was a pain but didn't take too long, quizzes were super easy and you could retake them up to 3 times. She would take a whole class to review before the test and would give formula sheets and would let u add ur own stuff to it. Tests were long but not bad

I absolutely love Dr. Hotiu! She is such a great professor for college physics and I will be taking her again in the Fall. Her in-person lectures were good but very math-heavy. Make sure to study for the class and you will do well on the exams. She offers a lot of extra credit, but make sure to get a good study group which realy helps.

Best physics professor you can take at FAU. Gives very good study guide that is exactly like the test. Makes test 35 questions and only counts 25 of them for 100% anything correct after that is given as extra credit. I was able to not have to take the final and still pass the class with a 98. Definently recommend!!

Overall Professor Hotiu is a good professor! Tophats and Exams are very important; if it was not for me having to work, I am sure I'd have a B for her class if I did not miss the top hat despite a 60 avg. for tests. She gives a lot of extra credit, never miss out on them if you want to end the class with a C minimum. HW is just busy work though.

Professor Hotiu was great! She was so funny and caring. He class consisted of quizzes, online homework, attendance participation and 4 exams. All were very easy! Just show up to class to get the points it is a big chunk of your grade.

Can be sassy, but its funny sometimes. SO MUCH extra credit that it's hard to not get an A let alone pass. For learning catalytics, 180 points=100%, I ended with 220+ points. Tests were about 40 questions, 15 of them being extra credit. Understanding towards students with disabilities! Homework and quizzes have multiple attempts.

I never interacted with her, but the course itself is very easy, the quizzes have multiple attempts, one discussion per week, two tests for the whole course, and one group project (you have the whole semester to complete it).

So much love for Dr. Hotiu. WOULD TAKE AGAIN!!

Professor Hotiu makes this class a breeze. With easy assignments, quizzes, and exams, plus extra credit opportunities, it's hard not to get an A. Attendance is mandatory but worth it - the lectures are engaging. I also found Unstuckstudy super helpful for exam prep.

Great lecturer, she cares about her students. Curves most tests by A LOT and offers a lot of extra credit opportunities. She is available outside of class and makes sure to review during class too. All tests are also similar to the reviews. Great proffesor

Dr. Hotiu, was great! This class was extremely simple and you only had small homework assignments via the textbook, weekly discussion boards, and short multiple choice quizzes. This was an incredibly easy elective and she is an easy grader too. Not that much work has to be put in to get an A, so if you fail its on you. Amazing professor!

Very little homework, most of your grade is just your test scores. Attendance is not mandatory but there is sometimes quizzes she does in class that you can get participation points for. She is very nice and always willing to accommodate you if you ask.

I took this class online and it was super easy and straightforward. Each week theres a short HW, quiz, and discussion post due, which honestly takes less then 30 min to complete. There are a few exams, which are proctored but don't require a webcam. Professor is super helpful and kind, always responded to emails quickly. Overall, highly recommend.

Prof. Hotiu is great! She moves quite quickly through material, so it's hard to keep up in class sometimes. Does a lot of formula derivations, but not a ton of theory -- so learn it yourself. Other than that, no downsides. Generous curves, tons of EC, and she has office hours (I didn't personally attend any). Study for tests using provided guide!!!

Professor Hotiu is a good professor just make sure to go to class because learning catalytics are 20% a lot of people failed because of never going to class. Curves the exams a lot. (Scantron exams)
