Good Professor overall. She's nice and the class atmosphere was rather easy-going. Took a summer course and didn't need a textbook (just a separate but inexpensive novel). Tests are mainly from her power-points which she generously put on blackboard. So long as you study you'll do well.
Prof Cavallo is awesome. I really enjoyed her class & her test are fairly easy if you just follow along on her powerpoints. Relaxed atomsphere and she really knows what she is talking about. The paper required in her class was fairly easy as well. Highly recommend!! Do Not Buy Textbook for this course!!
Really awesome professor. Tests are fairly easy, just have to pay attention to powerpoints, the paper for this class is fairly easy as well. Strongly recommend. DO NOT BUY TXTBK FOR THIS COURSE!!!
im taking her class now.it is very boring since it is only reading from powerpoints. all semester u only have 4 assignments all worth 25% (test, term paper on the book wisdom of the crowds, group presentation, final). reviews are horrible. unless ur a history buff dont bother with this class.
Take her class only if you love Govt. Book 1 Wisdom of Crowds and 2nd opt. Exam questions are very random and not really from what the review is like. Mainly everything comes from Pwrpt and lots of note taking(make sure to write down whats not in pwrpt). Strict teacher when it comes to electonic use in class! Good Luck!
Everything she says in class is already on the powerpoints she posts on blackboard. So there is really no reason to go to class. Also, the reviews she gives you are not helpful for the exams. About 50% of the exams are not even mentioned on the review.
Really didn't like this professor at all. She was rude, boring, and impersonal. Talked very fast and didn't allow laptops in the classroom for note-taking. I dropped her class and picked up 2302 online. I'd say that the online class is a little more personal and entertaining than her class was.
She's not that bad of a professor like everyone says. I'm taking her class this semester and so far it's been good. She gives you time to write down the notes on the PowerPoint slides. I'll come back when I finish the class and see how I feel then. I'm sure I'll still think she's hot!
She knows her stuff! I am in her class now, and she is rarely asked a question that she cannot answer. Her term paper is long, she requires 2 presentations, and her exams require serious study. I am doing well in the class because I work hard. I recommend her. She is a great professor and she is not bad looking(not that it matters).
She is very hard, i do not recommend her for someone who does not like GOV. she is so strict and little bit rude. her reviews are USELESS do not waste ur time on it.study the ppt only do not buy the book. GOOD LUCK!!
Half of the class dropped after our first meeting when she snapped rudely at a student. At one point when I was just making polite conversation with her she said "I don't feel comfortable discussing my personal life." The class was average difficulty, several presentations and one major paper (6-8 pages). Tests were difficult and reviews not great.
I have her this semester she is really rude and does not take excuses. She is defiantly not one to take if you have other classes that have lots of work because it will get you. I will not be taking her next time. I hated that class so much I would dread going every other day. I Highly recommend NOT to take her!DONT BUY TEXTBOOK! you dont use it!
Excellent professor. Various and very educational learning tools. I really enjoyed the nation government simulation and individual presentations of a branch of government. Lot of work but no pain, no gain. Slackers beware. I would definitely take any of her classes again and strongly recommend.
I truly enjoyed this professor. She knows her stuff and is helpful. If you want to learn take Ms. Cavallo. She's not the easiest professor but she is not impossible either. If you're here to learn she is one of the best.
I took this class online. It was fairly easy...12 quizzes, plus one paper and the final exam. The quizzes were slightly challenging...and you have to buy the textbook for online access. You don't use the book at all though. I didn't even write the paper and I got a B so it's a pretty easy class.
Mean, low tolerance, boring lectures. However, taking notes, class is fairly easy. Term paper is graded easily.
Took her Fall 2012. Great teacher, very passionate and knowledgeable about Govt. Classes are mainly lecture. There aren't a lot of assignments so you have to make the ones you do have count. She isn't the easiest proffesor but you will learn a lot, if you just want to skate through college take someone else.
I took her because her class was not full, what a mistake. She has no personality and her lectures are so boring. She is so unprepared. Does not use the textbook only PP she gives outlines but they skip around, if you study for exam you will pass it as it is not that hard. She is very rude to students and loves to interrupt you don't recommend her
She really knows what she is talking about and will teach a lot. She creates outlines for you to print out and the reviews are just like the test. I did not look in the text book one bit and still got A's on all tests. When people ask questions and look interested, she will lighten up.
horrible teacher. class should be easy but she complicates everything. worst thing is that she is MEAN. dropped me from an A to a B just for talking after the final.
If you do not have much time but need a govt credit then take this course ONLINE with her.You have 5 tests and 1 paper that is three page minimum requirement. Directions posted online. DO THE PAPER. The test is somewhat specific with about 50-72 questions each setting. You will use McgrawHill connect. I didn't need to email her during the semester.
I''ve had Cavallo for both required Government classes and she''s a great professor. She loves what she does and will always answer questions multiple ways if you don''t get it. She posts note outlines and reviews on bb. A lot of note taking is necessary but if you show up for class and make an effort you''ll at least get a B. She''s awesome
Professor Cavallo's Govt class was one of the easiest courses I've taken. If you're living a busy life but still trying to graduate I recommend her online course. You only have 5 test, a three page essay (its not that hard) & nation states journal throughout the whole semester! She also answers your emails fast as well, she's a great instructor!
Took an incredibly boring subject and made it fairly interesting due to her passion for the subject. I deeply respect this professor for how nice she was and her proficiency in govthistory and ability to teach it well all while having an insane amount of classes to teach. You don't really need the textbook and she grades the essay lightly.
Love this class. She is very nice and gives good lectures. Her power point lectures are online to print so bring them to class, makes life easier. If you study the power point lectures, you will pass the exams. The essay is challenging, but not impossible. Socratic Seminars are interesting and an easy A. The group presentation is pretty easy.
pay attention and you will pass gives you outline
She is very easy. Show up to class every day and take notes and you will pass her class. Everything she goes over in class is on the test and we didn't even open the textbook once the semester. Assigns a group project and a bunch of silly assignments that is something highschool kids do but they are easy.
She is very nice. She gets real into everything she talks about which is cool. Honestly though, it was a very boring class for me. All you really do is take notes. If you are good at taking notes and keeping focus you'll be good. If you get bored easily, and don't wanna take notes all day don't take her. It can be an easy A though. Just very boring
Pure lecture class, everything you go over in class is one an outline she gives you. She is very passionate but it is still a very boring class. Exams are easy if you study. She does allow you to turn in extra credit assignments.
Took Online. Easiest class EVER. 2 quizzes (and one is just a syllabus quiz), 5 tests with 50 questions each, 1 project (you play an educational game online and write a couple paragraphs about it) and 1 paper (3-6 pages). Everything is open at the beginning of the semester and you could probably finish the whole class in a week if you were bored.
3 tests (multiple choice and essay format), little to no homework, 1 3-6 page term paper, 1 group assignment, 1 simulation assignment. Pure lecture class; outlines for lectures are provided but no power points. You don't need to buy the books, she provides the chapters you need to read on blackboard even though you don't have to read those either.
I honestly wouldn't take this professor again . Her lectures are boring , she is rude and can be confusing
I took this class online only five test that are 50 questions you don't even need to use the book for. One three page essay and a one page essay! super easy class and she puts everything on blackboard the first day so you can finish it in one week if you wanted to!!
This is a professor that really cares about what she teaches, not just from a textbook point of view. She's involved in local government and encourages students to go out and get involved, leveraging this with extra credit opportunities. You need to make sure you study, and you have to show up to class, but this is a great teacher.
I highly Recommend her class. I took it online and the first day she opened everything for you. She often reminds you when things are due, at least a week prior. I took her online and she gives great instructions. i would take her again if i wasn't finished with my Government requirements. Do the work and you'll pass. Plus she gives extra credit!
I took Ms. Cavallo for online govt class. There are 5 tests, one term paper and an online simulation paper. The online simulation was like the SIMS but for government. It was really neat. This class is very easy to get an A in if you do all the work. I would take her again.
Assignment set up on blackboard was unclear, she waited till last minute (less than 24 hours before event) to post a set time online meeting, and she was also very unhelpful when it came to problems I addressed over email. I expressed that I turned in a assignment via the online set up and her response was simply not helpful or willing to help. NO.
Ms. Cavallo is an awesome professor I took her for online govt class. She gives 5 tests total 1 term paper and an online simulation paper(EASY). The online simulation was nice I liked it. This class was really easy for me. I would take her again if I could.I recommend her class to anyone. If you want to pass take her!!!!!! :)
Most boring class I ever took in my life. I studied for 4 hours before exam 1 and got the highest grade, a 74. Defiantly not worth 3 hours a week from 6-9pm
She was one of the worst teachers I have ever had, I'm in the top of my class and she was difficult for me. She is unwilling to help you, doesn't answer emails back in time. It's not worth the three hours you sit there at night.
I loved professor cavallo! She responded to my emails within a day, she was always available for questions and she really made the class interesting. A lot of the class is open for discussion on any subject we're talking about. She also gives so many opportunities for extra credit. I really enjoyed her class I'll definitely be taking her again.
If you do the basics of being a student then you are guaranteed an A. Gov is boring but she makes it as easy as she can. Take good notes in class. A lot of her test is exactly what she says in class and her reviews she puts online are extremely similar to the questions. If you put the time in to study you are guaranteed an A.
Prof Cavallo is a great professor. She is super knowledgeable and is always willing to answer questions. This is actually the second time I've taken her, and I didn't regret it at all. She makes you put in effort for your grade, but it's worth it. And she gives a good extra credit assignment if you miss something big like a test or the term paper.
Professor Cavallo was a great teacher. She is very passionate about what she is teaching. she really wants everyone to know their rights. She only gives 3 tests no cumulative final which is great. A little bit of work but it was a fairly easy class.
Professor Cavallo was a great teacher. She is very passionate about what she is teaching. she really wants everyone to know their rights. She only gives 3 tests no cumulative final which is great. A little bit of work but it was a fairly easy class. I loved hearing her speeches they were very motivating.
Professor Cavallo claims that any answer is a good answer, but when you answer a question she mocks you and tells you it's not right. I went to tutoring for this class and after the first test half the people dropped this class. Her lectures are confusing and she gives too much detail. I highly recommend you don't take her
I took her class online, there is one Mid term paper, and there is a few tests after each 2-3 chapters, but nothing major, there are a few discussions on Blackboard. You don't really need book.
I took Prof. Cavallo in the Spring of 2016. It was a difficult class; a lot of reading, a lot of info to absorb and try to retain. But, I had fun in the class. Prof. Cavallo is a great instructor. She expects students to pay attention in class, and participate. Because she wants her students to be successful. Definitely a tough prof, but a good one
Guys and Gals.... I am a 4.0 student, working on a degree in Biology.... let me tell you... the level of organization that this professor has, is little to none. This was the most confusing professor, her pwpnts every single day and reviews are FULL PAGES of INFO!! Exam 1 Test reveiw 32 pages long. Its just way too much! First dropped class ever!
Im in her class right now and she is honestly the best professor I have ever had. She gives a lot of extra credit assignments and she extends her office hours before exam days. She gives lecture outlines that way you can focus on what she is saying during her lectures which is really helpful. Also her reviews always match her tests
She is really passionate about government which makes it easy to learn from her and shes always willing to help and explain things as many times necessary
Professor Cavallo is an amazing professor. She definitely knows what she is talking about and offers good feedback. It is very important to take great notes and read outside of class. The test are nothing like the Exam Reviews, so it is important for the students to understand the material and not only memorize it.
DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED! I took Professor Cavallos class online and it was great!! A syllabus quiz, 5 exams, 3 discussion boards, one fun online assignment, and a term paper! Thats it! Eleven assignments spread out over 16 weeks. There was lots of reading, but it was interesting stuff! You can definitely earn an 'A' if you do the work! :)
Definitely take this professor online! She is clearly knowledgeable,, but likes to flood students with information they won't be graded on. Her tests are easy & they come straight from the book. Make sure to do ALL the discussion boards & double check when assignments are due. She is an easy grader if you follow her criteria.
If you take her summer mini and have a full time job get ready for long nights of studying and little sleep. She's very passionate about government and very experienced as well. You will learn alot in her lecture, test are hard but if you study and take notes from the lecture you can easily get a B+. Overall great teacher.
I took this class as an 8 week mini and it was pretty easy overall. The test questions come straight from the book. She sends out reminders when things are due. There is a term paper that she grades harder than an English professor but other than that its an easy pass.
Amazing professor. I took her as an online class and she was very prompt about responding to emails and she was very clear in everything she posted. she did not ignore the online class at all. The class is very easy online and really minimal work. extremely doable and highly recommend. 4 tests, monthly discussion boards and a paper NO FINAL :)
One simulation assignment, 5 DBS, one paper, 5 tests: 67 multiple choice questions. The questions come straight from the book. The final is non-cumulative . The professor is super sweet. I took her class online, and she always responded to her emails right away. You do have to teach yourself because there is no lectures/notes.
I had no choice but to take this professor because it was the only class available. Please learn from my mistake and just wait for another professor. She is the worst professor I've taken. I believe I've put in all my hard work on all the assignments and papers and it's like nothing satisfies her because she constantly gives me B's and D's.
(Online) A lot of reading from the textbook, but she also provides outlines of the notes she wants you to take, flashcards, & other resources. The book comes with the class as well, I did not have to buy it. Tests are a month apart and only over 3/4 chapters each, meaning you have a month to read a few chapters. Anyone who puts in effort will pass
I love her she is very sweet and nice I always looked forward to her classes. The test and assignments arent very hard at all.
The class was pretty easy all the tests were online. She seems mean at first but is overall a good professor. All we did during class was lecture but she would get us to interact sometimes.
Class was okay. She will not respond to emails so don't try. She does not give extra time. Even with winter storm no extra time. She is an easy grader as long as you try. She allows extra credit. Read textbook and you will pass. Would take again because i know how she is and it doesn't bother me but, if you are not able to stay on top of things no.
Quick to grade, everything is in the textbook. I honestly learned a lot in this class. I didn't have to contact her much but when i did she was quick to respond and very nice.
This professor has a lot of readings for each test. You have around a week to read 3 separate chapters for the exams. Each chapter is a lot of reading and was not enjoyable at all. She will have discussion boards often and other assignments. Good luck if you take this course, it is VERY time consuming.
The class is on line any time, BUT her stuff is due at Noon not at 11:59 pm. Easy class to take and you do have to read the chapters to take the test. she does give extra credit but it will only help if you miss one test or assignment. if its more them one assignment the it would be best to drop the class.
This professor was easy on us, but she makes it clear that you are responsible for keeping up with your work and due dates. She responds to email quick enough and answers and all of your questions. There only 5 exams and other easy assignments. I highly recommend this course I am actually taking her again in the spring semester for another course.
(TexasGovt) Loved her! She says not to rely on the exam reviews, but I ignored this and only studied the reviews I completed and I got an A+ every time. Notes are important, but she has an outline for her PowerPoints which helped a lot with notes. I mainly followed along with that and just added a few things to the outline during the lectures.
Took this class in the Summer. Instructions we're fair. Kinda felt like her curriculum was a little unorganized. Ended with a C on my fault not hers. She was responsive to emails and she was extremely lenient. I accidently did the wrong assignment (which was my fault) and she still gave me a fair grade instead of an F.
Super easy 8 week class, I learned nothing. If you want a class that you just do for credit this is it. She has 5 exams, 2 quizzes (one is syllabus), one paper and 5 discussions. Exam answers can all be found on quizlet. The only thing I can say negatively about her is that she will NOT tell you when something is due, you have to check constantly.
Professor Cavallo is great! If you like teaching yourself and going your own pace take her!! No assignments, just discussion posts, exams, 2 quizzes, and a term paper. She gave me an A on my term paper and simulation assignment so I wouldn't say she's a tough grader, just follow directions. Everything is on the syllabus, READD IT!!
Great class learned many interesting facts. The instructor was good in lectures and had a lecture outline online. Most of the materials on the test were in the lecture outlines. You did have to write a term paper so manage your time. Overall great instructor with great material.
Prof. Cavallo was great! Her class is pretty easy: 3 exams (can easily pass as long as you take notes on the lectures and study the provided exam reviews / no textbook needed), 1 group project, 1 term paper, and a few other super short assignments. IMO, the term paper was the hardest for me, but Prof. Cavallo is super helpful if you ask for it!
This professor does not interact with her online students much, however, all the information needed to pass the class is given on the first day. There are not too many assignments and they are evenly spread to not overwhelm you. Her assignments are due mid-day rather than at midnight which was rather disorienting. Just do the work.
Took the professor online, was one of the best classes I've taken and I would definitely take it again. You will have to do a lot of reading to get a grasp on the topics but it is really easy and this class was a breeze.
This class does not have a lot of homework and is very manageable as long as you keep up with the due dates. There are a few essays that you have to write but that is the hardest thing. Make sure you keep up with the discussion boards and reply to three other people. Overall, this class was easy and informative.
Professor cavallo is a great government prof and was a breath of fresh air in my Stem filled journey, easy class and fun online
compared to all my other classes, this one sucked the most. She gives out a syllabus about a final paper that can include any supreme court case, only to find out later that she only wanted a Texas supreme court case (which was not mentioned). Overall, like 5 assignments so not much wiggle room. Text book no help either btw.
Great professor, there are 3 exams that make up the most of your grade but as long as you do the review you will do great. Other assignments are pretty easy(one of them you just have to play a game and write about your experience on it). She also is very nice and understanding.
I had a very rough start but just take notes and you'll be fine. The outline and study guide are very helpful. Great professor with great stories haha.
She was very ok, I dropped her class the previous semester cause I had a really hard time enjoying her class but second time around was much easier. Just need to attend class cause you'll definitely miss something if you do. Lecture based exams but her lectures are actually entertaining lul.
One of the worst professors I have ever had. Your grade heavily relies on the 3 lecture exams. Minimal assignments to bring up your grade. She calls out to people to read whether they feel comfortable or not. She even laughed at us. She was rude and unkind. The term paper was confusing and gave minimal instructions for the paper.
I would not recommend taking a class with her. She was a lovely person and funny, but hate the way she teaches. All she did in class was lecture and the three tests she had did not correlate at all. Only grades were tests, term paper, one presentation, and one simulation assignment. Its hard to bring you're grade up due to very little assignments
I think she is a good professor but I honestly didn't feel like I learned anything because she is fast paced. There is a lot of notes to take so be ready to write and have hand cramps. I would say that I was really nervous for the term paper but I got an A on it so if I got that grade so could anyone really. She is pretty intimidating at times.
Professor Cavallo is pretty amazing! She expects participation and for us to read material before each class so make sure you prepare. She uses slideshows to go over material that is in the book but would still suggest to read through the book on each chapter you are covering at the moment. She is a tough grader on AI, Do not use!
I wouldn't retake this class even if my whole degree depended on it. She comes in to class ready to irritate everyone at 8 in the morning. She gets mad if people don't participate and will fly through presentations as she talks and expects notes on EVERYTHING. She will get mad if you don't take enough notes.
Overall the assignments were easy, but I picked online anytime and not online on a schedule. So, I didn't appreciate assignments being due at 12pm every T, W, & THR. So if you picked online anytime be prepared to be on a schedule. Also for the reviews for exams she gave us some AI thing to talk to; I didn't like that either but to each their own.
Instructions on assignments are always unclear and she only offers very few assignments for a grade. We had a timed group presentation and all she did was interrupt every group and was very critical even though she wasn't even letting the group speak. Very negative when a class doesn't have an answer that satisfies her. Would not take again.
Grades were determined based on 3 tests, 3 assignments, a participation grade, and a group presentation. Throughout the presentation, she would pause to ask questions about the topic. My recommendation is to take good notes and take time to study the reviews she provides, but be warned that her lectures are fast-paced. She was nice overall.
I took her class recently as a high school senior and she was amazing. She really loves what she teaches so it's easier to understand what is being presented. Just do the work and participate.
