Great professor, the best teacher I have taken at Santa Ana College. She really knows her stuff. I really enjoyed her lectures and projects. I recommend everyone take at least one of her classes.

Veyna's Mexican American History class changed my perspective on life completely; her enthusiasm and knowledge in the subject open my mind to new ideas. Even though she is quite demanding she helps those who ask for help. She is absolutely amazing! I recommend her to anyone who wants to really learn and not get an easy A.

Didn't like her class! She is not organized and expects us to learn specific dates. Tests are difficult. She gives alot of extra credit assignments but for very few points, For example, she gives only 4 points for a field trip.

This teacher is extremely passionate about her heritage and her teaching. If you are not of Hispanic decent do not take this class. She speaks in Spanish half the time so the non-Hispanic students are left in the dark and are not included in the dialog. I am an honors student but I could tell what she wanted me to do half the time.

Excellent teacher! Very passionate about teaching the subject matter. The class is also really easy if you take good notes, and she gives plenty of extra credit. It helps if you know some Spanish, but she repeats herself in English. I am not Mexican, but I would recomment the class to anyone.

Ms. Veyna is a great teacher

She is really interesting. Test are based mostly on lectures so pay attention and take lots of notes. She is a great teacher entertaining and lectures go by really quick

I took this class Friday nights and Saturday mornings and time flew. Veyna has passion for what she teaches and this gets your interest right from the start.

Very clear about the subject. I didn't even have to read the book. It was just one time for like one chapter for a two page essay. As long as you take notes in class and listen to what she says u'll pass. The tests are super easy b/c it's basically what she says in class. And she repeats the material so much that it get's stuck in your head.

Very fiendly,You need to pay full attention to the class if not your not passing,She loves students participating in class and volunteering to read. She loves giving pop-quizes so be ready. This professor is one of the best at SAC. She is very approachable and easy to talk to. Do the work and turn it in on time and your grad will reflect your effort, she is very fair and even offers xtra credit!!!

I don't know why people would say negative things about her.In my opinion she is a great teacher!easy to pass her class.Just make sure you take notes and study them for the test.dont really need the book.it might be challenging for those that don't speak Spanish though.i just think that if you do not want to learn about mex-am. culture dont take it

Ms. Veyna is a wonderful teacher. She is very energetic and transmits her energy to her students. She loves history and she loves to teach. Every time you go to class you learn something new so it is extremely important not to miss class. She gives a lot of opportunity for extra credit and makes herself available for questions. She LOVES history and being Latino. Class is easy if you pay attn, write good notes, turn in assignments, and even better if you do EC. She makes class interesting and fun. She can be confusing sometimes tho bcuz she jumps around a lot. You'll have 10 quizzes which are ez, 2 exams, 2 papers that are really easy. Good luck n have fun!

she is the best histroy teacher i have encountered. all you do is go to class take notes study them and pass quizes. midterm is easy all from lecture notes, dont even read the book. final is like midterm. class was interesting and she is very passionate about what she teaches. passed the class with a A without ever opening my book.

I've taken Hist 124 and 153 with her and if I could I would take History 127 - Women in U.S. History but my shedule doesnt allow it. Attend class and take notes and you'll do fine.

Very good teacher.. gives alot of B's and some A's but you have to work for the A by attending all class meetings and doing the extra credit. Be cautined that she will give u a B even if you are 5 points from receiving an A.

Veyna is so easy. I took her over the summer she literally gives you notes of what is going to be on the test and let us use the notes for the test, which i didnt need because she really enjoys what she teaches. I hate history so i thought taking womens history would make it more intersting. She is awesome passed with an A

You will use the book in class A LOT. She refers to it frequently during the lectures & makes you read out loud from the book. Two 5 pg. papers during the semester, 1 before the midterm & 1 before the final. She gives you a study guide a week prior to the exam. She's really perky & excited to teach about her subjects. Easy A if you do the reading!

I took her back in Spring 2011 let me tell you she is very passionate about her class. Yes, her notes are all over the place, but she is very helpful if you don't get the material.So talk to her after class or go to her office hours. She was one of many professors I had Santa Ana College that pushed me to pursue my goal.

I love Professor Veyna, I took her for a couple of different classes. She is the reason why I ended up choosing to major in History. I enjoyed listening to her own life experiences and how she included them to what she was teaching at the moment. She told you what would be on the exams, gave valuable notes.

Professor Veyna is a very well lecturer. Her notes may be all over the board, but she is crystal clear on what you should know for the exams. You have to write at least two papers, and I thank her for making me fall with an interest in Latin American Studies.

Veyna is the best history teacher I ever had! I usually do so bad in history classes but thanks to her she got me interested in my Latino heritage. Do not buy the books, she even states she does not teach based on the books. A lot of note taking, the exams are open note test. Two very easy essays. Study notes for the pop quizzes

She's a horrible professor. Every class session she shows a movie. YOU CAN'T LET DOCUMENTARIES DO THE TEACHING FOR YOU! Once she made us read out-loud straight from the textbook for one hour. She does not understand effective pedagogical practices. But if you want an easy A then this is the class for you.

You're going to be taking notes. There were only 2 test midterm and final. Quizzes are given but if you pay attention or take notes you should be good. She gives out a lot of extra credit. The only homework you have is a 25 questions paper and another 25 question from a book (I did mine the night before and got a B). She tells history like stories.

There are no words to describe how amazing Ms. Veyna is. I had her for History 124 and History 153. She actually teaches and explains concepts very well. She is active, smart and very polite. The exams and quizzes are easy, attend to class and participate.

Prof Veyna does not mess around. You cannot pass her class just sitting around. Lots of reading and note taking and as well as textbook questions but her lectures are so interesting. She really tries her best to make them feel like storylines instead of straight lecturing. Cool class, would take her again.

Must take! its a good class if you are Mexican American and want to learn more about your pass culture. It is not a hard class but you do need to read the books since that what the test are on. Professor Veyna made History 124 very interesting and funny throughout the semester. Be ready for the quizzes. She's an old school professor so be ready to take notes. The notes are pretty much your quizzes and exams. Two homework assignments are given to you so make sure turn them on time. You won't be disappointed with this professor.

She informed me of many things I didnt even know about my own culture. Honestly an eye opening class. Changes your perspective and she makes you proud of who you are. Keeps classes fun. Exams are easy. Book report, well honestly its not an essay. Its just around 20 questions that youd answer about the book which she gives you plenty of time.

You couldve passed this class in Middle School. Just take notes on the lectures, pay attention, have a brain, and youll pass. 275/300 is the cutoff for an A so just get an A on everything.

Being one of Miss Veyna's last students as she is retiring after this semester, has been one of the greatest privileges as a student. I took Professora Veyna during the online classes because of COVID-19 and I can say she did an amazing job teaching her students and making us feel as if we were in a regular classroom. Not one professor in college has inspired me as much as her! It was and has been a privilege to be one of her students in her last semester before retiring.

Textbook not required, but she insists students buy it. Lectures are all that matter. Assignments simple - one requires you to interview 3 immigrants for 10 page essay. Midterm/Final both 80 questions, memorization is important. Turn in assignments on time and you will pass. Attendance required. Participation is also required, but once in a while.
