Dr. Blackburn is very intelligent in her areas of teaching, and academics if you need to learn about the brain neuroscience and neuropsychology , language, Event related potentials and all other neuroimaging techniques. She is your to go professor. Thesis and research proposals on brain and effects of the brain on behavior. Dr. Blackburn rocks!

She's intimidating because she's brilliant and expects you to be too. Doesn't coddle, but understanding, funny energetic, does silly things to help you learn-makes dolphin sounds and you act out things that happen in the brain. Hardest class I have ever taken but your writing will get better more than any other class and you will feel accomplished.

Dr. Blackburn's expertise in her fields and general academia is immediately apparent. This carries over into her lecture style, which, for the lack of a better term, is amazing. She promotes individual participation and discussion, helping solidify concepts learned in the class. Her feedback/advice is also incredibly valuable!

She's so cool! She's attentive and really great to talk to. If you have any questions she will do her best to help. Her classes could be a bit challenging but she's not a harsh professor so if you feel like it's too much do go speak to her. She's honestly really jolly and almost always in such a good mood and it's rare to see in other professors.

Dr. Blackburn is a very interesting professor! She is very cool to talk to and she gives great examples during lecture and really explains everything she knows. She is not a tough grader in the open ended questions nor in the writing assignments but her multiple choice test can be a little hard if you miss class and don't pay attention to lecture.

Honeslty, amazing professor. The subject itself is so boring, but she makes class enjoyable. I really recommend her. You don't have to read the book, just study the Power Points. My grade right now is a 99 from doing that. I really recommend her.

No group projects which is awesome. And even though I knew nothing of neurobiology she makes it easy to understand without having to dumb anything down. Plus she clearly knows the material and doesn't completely loose you when trying to answer your question.

I took her for UNIV 1402 The Neurobiology of Love & Sex. She is a very passionate professor about the subject. She would meet with us outside of class if we didn't understand the lecture and would explain it again. Make sure you keep up with your readings because she will talk/ask about it during class.

A neuro heavy class be prepared to talk about the brain A LOT, but aside from that great lectures. You learn a lot in this class

This course is a uniquely opportunity to look more in depth of what love really is, the professor does a great job in explaining the neuroscience behind love and connects it with life examples. I took Language Development with her and I was an interesting class. She encourages you to read the book if you want an A. She records her lectures, so in case you miss class you can still keep up with the lecture. Attendance is not mandatory. Writing heavy: 3 individuals papers, a group paper, and a debate. You need to EARN your grade.

She often speaks a little fast but if you tell her to slow down, she will. She is always excited about what she teaches, and gives students an inside of what she does. every once in a while she will go of topic. she will ask for feedback from student in order to improve her teaching skills.

Dr. Blackburn has so much zest for what she teaches, she laughs at her own lecture sometimes. She is lecture and PPT heavy, but every lecture is so informative. This class has given me so much insight and the tools that no class has ever given me. Class content and lecture was is so meaningful and practical in my life.

Its a fun course to take. You learn a lot about how the brain works when youre dating someone or are falling in love. Shes so nice and caring, some lectures can be lengthy and at times confusing because you go over the parts of the brain but it a a fun course to take. You learn a lot and understand why somethings work out and why others dont.

The class is not difficult if you study the reviews before the tests. The lectures are entertaining; however, sometimes they seem long. She tries to be very interactive with the students from time to time with surveys, lists, etc.

Her teaching is very good she is very detailed and says what the best things to study is. Although her overall class is very difficult she gives so much work it felt like i had 18 hours just with her class alone.

Dr. Blackburn is a great professor. Her tests require deep critical thinking, however, she does a good job of talking you through the test and gives extra credit if the majority of the class has trouble with the exams.

I loved coming to class. The lectures took up all the class time, but they were very informing and enjoyable. She cares a lot about your grades and about you as an individual, so she tries everything she can to help you succeed.

good professor would take again

I took Biological Psychology WIN with Dr. Blackburn. She is a passionate professor. Her quizzes are simple but you need to study for them. Exams are multiple choice and open questions. You will need to write papers throughout the semester since it is a WIN course. Her class might be a little hard but it is definitely worth it. She is great.
