she teaches us like english 200 and its stupid. her and that tredmill theory. its english 101 k teach like it she makes it difficult to pass. i got a d. get another teacher your better off

Run from this teacher as fast as you can. She is absolutely the worst. She provides zero guidance and has no communication skills at all. She is not a people person. I have been trying to get some assignment clarification and help from her for a week now to no avail. This is one terrible teacher - stay away!

Her class is hard and it's just awkward because of her teaching style and how she attempts to call people out. There is too much work too... I wish I had not enrolled in her class... Too stressful.

Worst teacher ever. She made me buy 2 books and she said we needed them but we never used them. She is a tough grader that does not care about you at all. Her teaching style is terrible and she calls you out in front of the whole class and embarasses you. NEVER TAKE HER CLASS.

she seems to enjoy seeing students fail. she always smiles and announces to the class when someone has gotten a low score on an assignment. in her lectures she says she wants everyone to share their thoughts and opinions but if any students opinions don't line up with her political ideology she villainizes them in front of the class.

This class consists of Prof. Johnston spouting her political views for the majority of her lecture, belittling people who don't agree with her and then assigning a tone of usually politically driven homework on material which the class hasn't covered. I am shocked to see any positive reviews. I have yet to meet a student who enjoys this class.

This class is a lose-lose. If you actually want to learn writing she doesn't do a good job of teaching substantial composition skills. If you don't want to learn writing and are just taking the class for a prerequisite you will still be swamped with busy work and have to sit through her mind numbingly boring and politically driven lectures.

Her syllabus is riddled with inconsistencies and errors. She's almost never clear on homework assignments and in result she gets mad at her students when they don't do what she expects.

Worst professor I ever had in all my days in collage.

This woman is abnormally self absorbed, egotistical, and proud for an entry level English teacher at a community collage. She obviously submits her own positive grades on this website. I have never met a student who enjoys this class.

This professor is simply terrible, I dread this class every day.

I am not kidding when I say that this is the worst professor I have ever had in two years of college. All of the negative reviews here are 100% accurate and not exaggerated. She is simply a toxic and condescending person who takes herself way too seriously. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

This professor is incredibly unhelpful, i never learned anything in this class.

This professor made me dread this class even though I normally do love English class. The unpleasant class environment, hostile grading, and politicized lectures were not anything i would ever recommend my fellow students to go through.

As of today, I will be graduating from MCC with honors. Looking back, I have to say, that the worst part of my experiance at MCC was taking a class with Angelique Johnston.

Worst class room environment I've ever experienced.

This class single-handedly ruined my summer. There's multiple discussion boards EVERY WEEK that take 3-5 hours EACH and it is extremely reading and writing intensive. She is also a VERY TOUGH GRADER. If you value YOUR TIME and YOUR MENTAL HEALTH, DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH THIS PROFESSOR.

Do yourself a favor- find a different class. She is unprofessional, condescending, and refuses to listen or work with her students. She tells students to web search sources and then accuses you of plagiarism even after citations. Also, the modules are sloppy, unorganized, and very difficult to follow. Not worth the stress. Find another class.

The grading in this class is terrible. You will get points off for nothing and then when you ask why the professor gets offended. It is not a helpful environment.

I am passionate about learning, but found that this professor had little interest in providing an effective learning environment. She is condescending, closed-minded, extremely rude, and altogether an unenjoyable professor to have. It is not worth it to take her class; if she disagrees with you on any matter, it will affect your grade!!

Took this class online because of COVID, but the distance did not help her be any less rude to her students.

Expects your life to revolve around this ENGLISH 101 class and does not realize that her students have other classes as well. The irony is it will often take her months to grade anything.

I went to MCC and graduated with a degree. This professor was easily the worst part of my experience. I strongly advise any students to avoid this class at all costs.

Extremely dull and boring for a subject which I otherwise enjoy

Professor Johnston is a really tough grader. Be prepared there is a lot of reading. This was an online class she recorded a video on the first day but that was it. You must teach yourself everything. She is late with grading. My advice RUN! I would 10/10 not recommend. Also, she needs to work on her communication skills.

She's the most stress inducing professor I ever had. She makes you do these discussion boards every 1-2 days that take up a good chunk of your day even if you plan ahead. If you don't get something good luck as she responds to your emails the next day and you'll fall behind. Don't take this class with her if you care about your free time and sanity

Professor is constantly late for class and sometimes doesn't show up but always harshly criticizes students publicly if they are late or miss class.

I graduated from MCC 2 years ago. I am just here to let all these students know that this is the worst professor I have ever had in all my years of school.

I cannot fully articulate in one review how awful Angelique was as a professor. she was disorganized, changed plans on the fly, none of the online material reflected the dates assignments were due. She talks to the class as if we are children, extremely demeaning. And she will bring up triggering topics in ENG-101 with no warning or reason.

Probably the worst professor I've ever had. She's disorganized and constantly assigns classwork as more homework because she can't keep a schedule. I've never left a class of hers feeling like I've learned anything. It's a waste of time, effort, and it'll do nothing except drain your sanity. Do yourself a favor and stay away from her class

Don't take this class. She will give you a handout of what is happening in class, but she won't do any of it, instead she talks the whole class about nothing. She doesn't go over PowerPoints, the homework never makes any sense because the instructions don't go along with class material. She will never admit she is wrong. Not worth the effort.

kinda one of the worst professors i had. i took eng101 with her and at some point we HAD to pay $15 for a freaking play or whatever and she was saying if we don't attend it then we don't pass the class. i paid but ended up dropping because her class was just AWFUL

Professor Johnston uses almost all class for lecturing. All of the material on the test was from homework. She pushes her political views on us and expects us to conform.

Would not take again.

Professor is impossible to work with... She has terrible time management and we never get through what we have to. She is rude and not helpful when you email her questions. She shoves political views done your throat and expects you to agree with her.

She spoke to us as if we were small children the whole class. Like, imagine elementary teachers going "okay friends...." The worst she ever did was, the day after an RIT student took their own life, asked us to rhetorically analyze the email RIT sent out about it.

Professor created an unpleasant environment. Course difficult because assignments were unclear. Avoid.

If possible please do not pick her. She acts like we're in some Ivy league school rather than MCC… The whole class she just rambles and most of the time it has nothing to do with her material. She has no empathy for her students and honestly could care less. I had a good grade but due to her god awful attitude I had to drop.

I originally wanted to take Shakespeare with a different professor but Johnston was the only one teaching it. While she's competent in some areas, her approach can sometimes feel condescending, and overall, her teaching style hasn't been the most effective for me.

She's really not the nicest and she assigns a lot of work. She said in the beginning most people fail her course and I believe that's her goal.

She tries her absolute hardest to make sure the class is very difficult for a 101. I don't like here personally. 10/10 would not take again.

Don't choose this professor unless you absolutely have to.
