In my life...have I ever had an instructor that blows my mind!! Chicano Studies wasn't a course I thought that would open my mind and make me feel in tune with my cultural heritage. Rovero's passion for teaching is something surreal, and I highly recommend her when you take a Chicano Studies course. She is what teaching is all about! No joke

Professor Rovero-Herrera is awesome!!! She is a consummate professional that does her job well. Professor Rovero-Herrera has a solid grasp of the subject and teaches it in a passionate, systematic, and effective style. She does not take nonsense from anyone. Though she is very nice as she empowers her students to live up to their potential.

Angie is just and AMAZING professor and human being! I have never learned so much about my culture like I did in her summer class!! She's very knowledge and passionate about the subject! She's very funny too! Just like CSUN Professor Rudy Acuña inspired her take more courses on chicano studies, she inspired the same way, so now I'm double majoring!

I'm second guessing my major because I am now more intreged by my culture. Being in her class doesn't feel like a reg. I've taken Professora Rovero-Herrera for two Chicano Studies classes at Pierce and have even decided to take one of her classes in East LA, she is an amazing teacher who really care about the material and is incredibly straight forward and cares about her students very much. 4 assignments & multiple choice final, come to class and pay attention!!

I took this class as a GE requirement, but was able to learn a lot from it. Professor Rovero is extremely passionate and knowledgable about Chican@ Studies. The class is not difficult as long as you do your work and care about what you are learning.

This is not "An easy A" class. I recommend taking her IF you enjoy and are interested in the content. She is a great instructor, but if you try to cheat, or if you don't do the readings, and/or you decide to be absent, you won't pass and you definitely don't want to ever disrespect her. She is tough but great.

This is the 2nd class I have taken with this professor. Her lectures are so interesting and her stories are funny! She is very understanding especially for those who juggles full time work & school. She gives enough extra credits to help you along so there is no way that you can fail this class! I am not Chicano but her passion is magnetic!

Angelita is the best ever. Doesn't matter if you're Latino or not she is so clear about Chicano history and makes it interesting. Took her over summer at 8am and was very fast let us out 30min early everyday. Offers extra credit. Just show up and take notes and you can use them on quizzes. Very caring and funny want to take her class again!

DO NOT talk in class, or use the cellphone! She will tear you up!! It makes sense, because I hate when students don't allow me to listen to her. I loved taking this class, but I do not like online classes. yet this teacher was easily accessible through email anytime. I needed this class to transfer and there was a lot of work but I did try to do an assignment without checking the powerpoint and I got it ALL wrong! My fault, she knew, and she let me redo it. That was nice of her to do.

Professor Angelita is the best! I took her Saturday class but it was always fun to go to and I always looked forward to it. Her lectures were never boring. Make sure you buy the book and take notes of the lectures. 1 midterm and a final and both of them open notes and open book. A few quizzes in between but they were pretty easy.

Taking an online course now, make sure you do the readings and follow the directions! My experience has been positive, and she does respond. The other rating complaining probably DID do everything wrong.. ha! Ive reached out to her a lot, and she has ALWAYS responded and is very helpful. We are responsible for own work, just saying.

She is a true compassionate instructor, thanks to her she lead me to the various outlets on campus to help me with my writing skills. She took the time to assist me and help me do better in school, now Im transferring to UCLA, thanks to her! Her classes are inspiring!

She's a great teacher

Professor Rovero is genuinely a great human being. She cares about the wellbeing of every one of her students. She assigns a study guide for the midterm and final, therefore it is difficult not to pass her class. She tries to make her Chicano Studies morning class exciting to her students, even though they are half asleep. I would take her again!

She is probably the best teacher I have taken at pierce, and I've taken a lot of clasess. She very easy going and is willing to work with you if your straight forward with her, and does like when you laugh at her jokes. Her class is really easy if you attend every class and do the work.

So Im taking her online class.. and it is a LOT of work, but it this what we signed up for! Online classes are way harder, so this post is for my peer who rated this professor negatively. What did you think you were going to get? If the terms are so technical, then you are LEARNING something, right? SMH.. This professor is hard, but worth it!

Currently taking her online class (Ch S 2) - highly recommend if you either need to pass the requirement or are interested in learning more! Workload is fair with one assignment/day 4 or 5 days a week - considering this a winter class, you really can't complain when the assignments take about the same or less time than you'd have spent in person.

This class is not difficult. If you do your work on time and put in effort, you should be able to get full credit. The articles are difficult, but that's the reason why she makes them 10 points. The discussions are easier and that's why they're worth 30 points. She makes difficult assignments worth less and easier ones worth more to help you out.

Winter Class is 5 weeks, and believe the work load is fair. As far as the complainer on the previous post, they must be completely lost or failing. There are assignments almost daily, but WELCOME to ONLINE!! I find online being more difficult, bu Winter is a slammed time period to get all the learning done. Love this class, Prof. is beyond fair

Professor Rovero was great. Her online class isn't easy, and you have to work hard, but she is very fair and if you put the effort in, you will do well. She grades quickly and she gave me encouraging positive feedback on every single assignment. Really loved this class, I learned a lot.

This is my second class with profesor Rovero. The second I stepped into her class I knew I was gonna enjoy the rest of the semester. Shes very understanding and her assignments are clear. Theres no other profesor I met that cares so much about the course she lectures. Shes funny and will keep you entertained every second. 10/10 recommend.

Her knowledge on the subject and her passion for the material makes you want to go to class every day. She was very helpful during the online transition. A great person and a great professor.

This is my second time taking a class with professor Rovero. Her lectures are amazing and show how passionate she is about what she teaches. If you are taking one of her classes to actually learn about the culture and not just to receive a grade, you will excel in the class. She grades based on your knowledge of the topics and what you understood.

Anyone who is negative about this professor, it is because they did poorly, could not handle the work load, have no work ethic, or simply thought taking a "Chicano studies" class would be "easy" and turned out they were challenged!! HA, I laugh at the negative reviews, because they base it on not working for their grade. They want an easy ride.

All of her classes, and i have taken 4 of them, are book heavy, lecture heavy and very inspiring. If you hate to read, then this class is not for you. If you hate to learn, or think it's going to be easy, this is not the class for you. She is tough but loves her students, if you try to cheat or lie, she will NOT take it lightly! She is great!

Honestly a breeze! Any bad reviews are clearly written by students that didn't work hard. Meet each minimum writing requirement(6+ sentences a paragraph), & you'll do great. If she sees that you put genuine effort in, you'll get an A. Super nice, responds to emails really fast, & leaves really nice comments on assignments. Loved the class!

I took this class to fulfill a diversity requirement for the CSU I am going to. I am sad that this class ended. She is AMAZING! Best feedback from a Professor. Great teacher, great personality. This class is heavy in writing. Her grading criteria is clear and assignments are pretty easy. Easy grader as well as long as you follow directions, got a 100 in the class. As long as you can write over 300 words for an assignment its an easy A. Midterm and final not proctored. Textbook is free online.

Great professor! Two writing assignments due each week but all can be due Saturday/Sunday (for the most part) there is a word count but other than that a great professor to take. This class is an easy A, do all her assignments and youll be fine.

This teacher is awesome, and anyone who gives her a negative review must have not been able to hang in her class. She is fair and sets the bar high, but not to where it is impossible. She makes you work for your grade and she wants you to learn! Loved her class and recommend it to anyone willing to work a little harder than usual.

This was by far one of the easiest classes I have ever taken at Pierce. Professor Rovero was clear with what she wanted on both the midterm and the final. It's really important to be there for every lesson and to let her know if you aren't able to attend class with a valid excuse as her most graded assignment are in-class write ups.

This professor is great, and she makes it easy and you want to learn. She is in the middle politically, and makes comments to make you question both sides, so that comment below is her sarcasm, I don't recall it being said that exact way if at all. That has nothing to do with the class anyway. Her work is manageable, and like this class a lot!

Im taking her Chicano 8 online class, and she assigns about 2 assignments a week. Totally doable. Read the book pages she assigns, analyze the readings, turn in by the end of the week and you will get an A. Discussions are your opinion so that is cool and makes it less stressful. You will not pass if you don't read what she assigns.

She is a true advocate for Mexican culture. As long as you listen to her lectures, take notes, complete the assignments, and read the texts you'll learn quite a lot of valuable history. Her exams are fair and an easy grade if you study. She has been one of my favorite professors I've ever taken. Recommending her to everyone!

She was casual, gave little work and cares about you being present in the classroom/ lecture. She gives few assignments, mostly for attendance and all tests are open notes and the topics on them are given in advance.

HONORS pretty easy grader, but a mistake on the formatting might mean a zero, so read the syllabus and format in the assignment very carefully. There's a minimum word count you need to do for each assignment. You learn interesting stuff, and she really cares about the subject. Good final, and nice class but make sure you follow the format.

Prof Rovero is a rlly good teacher, shes rlly passionate abt what she does. Her Chic 8 class was rlly easy despite being honors, she usually gives full credit if u meet the word count and showed u put in at least some effort. Make sure to format your assignments with only the heading (not header)with the assignment title and ur name, rlly recommend

Follow the directions and you will pass the course. If she gives you a zero (0), she will let you retake/resubmit. Not sure what the below rating is about, but if you reach out to Professor, she is more than helpful. I had a bit of an issue with work and home, and this professor allowed me to turn in the work for full credit.

I love this class, and if you read her Syllabus, it clearly says that you can resubmit work. For the rating below, this is untrue, I have taken 4 classes with this professor and she is the best. If you READ her syllabus you would not write what you wrote. I learned a lot, and I appreciate when this professor allows resubmission on occasion.

We made day of the dead altars at home, then the teacher made a movie reel to display them to the campus. Then actress Constance Marie from the George Lopez show came and was our guest speaker. I never thought I would experience something so cool in college

The rating before me... come on, it was an Arts class and we didn't have any tests, just projects and write ups! seriously.I loved this class! We made an Altar for Day of the Dead and an event to highlight our work. The one an only Mexican TV Mom,Constance Marie was the guest speaker before our altars were shown. It is college, so you expect work.

Make sure to show up to class if you take an in person class. Daily write ups, they are not hard. Make sure to put the phones away. You learn a lot and she makes history fun

I enrolled in her class for the winter 2024 session. She grades assignments promptly and is fair in her grading. Just stick to the syllabus, and you'll do well. The class involves quite a bit of writing, but it's manageable because the content is engaging. The final exam was a 400-word paper, which wasn't too challenging. :)

Love the topics of this course, it is an Honors course, and can be challenging. However, she gives a lot of opportunities to ask questions and responds quickly.

Great class! Very thorough, makes the class interesting, she seems very neutral on all issues which I like. She is very fair and gives students a lot of opportunities to pass. Love the content, but she likes to ask questions to get students to talk, sometimes it can be a debate. Love this class. Makes you think for yourself.

Good professor, not so good as a person. Had issues with her over email. Passive aggressive, rude, and sassy. But she's undoubtly very passionate about the subject she teaches. Coursework is straightforward, with weekly assignments that can be completed in a day. No midterm or final, writing assignments/projects instead. Recommend to take online.

I took chicano 007 and honors chicano 008 and they are basically the same exact course. The assignment were pretty much identical but they are really easy. Its a lot of writing but it doesn't take a lot of time and everything is very straightforward. She also cares about her students a lot and will accommodate you if needed. Overall great professor

Simple class is very easy. The professor gives precise grading for each assignment. As long as you complete the required word count, you should be fine. I recommend a Chicano 008 class; the professor is also very understanding. I took it as a summer class, and it did have many assignments per week, but they were all quick and easy to complete.
