He is pretty boring, but he is a good teacher. Knows what he is talking about and his tests are fair.

Long assignments!!

Well, he seemed quite abrasive at first but the key with Dr. Canty is persistence. The more you show up at his dorr, the less snippy he gets. The course would've been great if it weren't for the ridiculous tests. If the tests were going to be that hard then we should have gotten more time.

Best prof I have ever had. Really makes the students think but the exams are similar to practice questions assigned.

Excellent prof. His tests were more than fair in this course. They were reasonable in length and medium level of difficulty. He provides sample tests and even provided a sample final exam with solutions to help us prepare. His course notes are excellent and so much easier than the textbook. His Assignments were long and hard, but still doable.

Very helpful professor. Most students are intimidated to see him during office hours because they are scared he will get angry. He has provided sample tests for practice, and the actual test was exact same level of difficulty. Has genuine concern for his students. Class average was quiet high for the Stats2Mb3 course. He is very well organized.

He is not professor, he is really an angel professor. I dont know how anybody can give him bad ratings or bad comments, he is the BEST statistics professor. I strongly encourage everybody to enroll in canty's course. VERY VERY VERY FAIR PROFESSOR

He is my favourite statistics professor. My love for stats and inspiration to take more stats courses stemmed from his class. Really he has motivated and sparkled my interest in stats. I saw him smoking outside Hamilton Hall few days back and today I saw him in the student center near Tim Hortons hahaha lol

All around good prof, I would love to take any course taught by him when I get to upper year courses.

He is a good prof and a beautiful person with a heart of gold. He types up all his Assignment solutions and tests, shows how much hard work and effort he puts into teaching. Takes his job very seriously and strives to be fair in all aspects. Sometimes tests are a bit long. Has lot of office hours available for students, but people never show up =)

Dr. Canty should be promoted to head of the math and stats department!

Greatest teacher I have met in my first year at McMaster. I hope one day I will be like him! I wish him a successful career at mac. Wish there were more good profs like him. He is much better than Dr. Childs for sure.

Greatest instructor that has stepped foot on mcmaster campus ever since this University was born. He is not a professor, he is a STATISTICS ANGEL. His lectures give me motivation to become like him one day. He has so much passion for statistics that it rubs on, on students, makes you want to do stats homework 24/7 just because of this super prof!!

He is such a great prof I cannot explain in words how awesome he is. if you want to take a statistic course I recommend you take ONLY WITH DR.CANTY AND NOBODY ELSE...switch your sections to his class, if you have the chance, he will make you love stats he is really that good he is very kind heart human being who cares for his students so much. Great prof, but more then that, an exceptional human being, which is a more important quality. Has genuine concern about your education, your future, and your interest in his course. Will do everything he can to help students. Prompty replies to emails and is more then happy to meet with students to discuss stats problems. A gem of a professor.

He is very kind and very fair. Very under-rated prof. He deserves a huge raise. I hope that in the near future he becomes the chair of Mathematics and Statistics department, and eventually, president of McMaster. I will nominate him for President of McMaster or even better Prime Minister of Canada. He has leadership qualities and deserves the best.

In my opinion he is the ONLY prof at McMaster who actually thinks the success of his students and generating interest in stats is his responsibility. He puts a lot of effort into teaching and his lecture notes are proof of this fact. Great prof. Wish there were more like him!!!

Most well organized and best dressed prof I had. He is great. He has a great sense of humour!! People who write bad things about him and complain of him being too difficult should not be studying at University and have low I.Q and don't deserve to do University level studies, because he is one of the easiest and most fair instructors. Keep it up.

VeRy Very Very Very Very HELPFUL PROF. Cares for students so much that even your own parents wont care for you, as much as he cares for his students. Unbelievably good attitude towards teaching and students. The only complaint is tests were a bit long but assignments is easy 30% and final exam is long but very fair. Outstanding Professor.

Everybody should take Dr.Canty as their supervisor for grad school. He is the most knowledgeable and best prof ever, but his Assignments will be very tough.

He was tough but fair. His old exams are available on reserve in Thode Library. Easy to do well on his final exam if you practice the old final exams. One of the most fair stats profs I had.

He was the most superior prof of stats. His teaching is applicable to real life and he is the only fair prof stats prof I have ever seen.

I had this prof for Stats 1CC3 some time ago and I have to give him credit for making me love that course. I continued on and took second year stats courses this year, but the quality of profs I had for 2D03 and 2MB3 was not upto the level that Canty is. I am so excited to be in his stats 3D03 class next year! He has so much office hours for help.

Canty is the best statistics professor in the entire Universe. He is a true statistician. People who complain they don't like him or his tests being too lengthy should drop out of University. He is the most fair and caring prof on campus. Plus if you smoke with him outside of Hamilton Hall, you can easily become his friend. He is my best friend.

I agree with all the positive comments this prof receives. Socializing with this prof is better than being at the Play boy mansion surrounded by hundreds of beautiful women. With Angelo Canty, it's a match made in heaven. What a wonderful person.

Awesome... He's excellent and explains everything with example with R computing.... One of the best in Computational Statistics.....

Had him for stats 2mb3. Very strict and prone to yelling if people are talking in class but knows his stuff well. Irish accent but easily understandable. Legible handwriting on blackboard. He is very fair and if you pay attention and ask intelligent questions you will do well.

Canty gets a bad rap just because he shows tough love and is a little intimidating. He actually cares deep down and it shows when you go to his office hours (never busy because people don't go). His powerpoint slides aren't detailed; the point is to motivate you to learn on your own. This is my 4th course with him, he's made me a better student!

Arguably the hardest undergrad stats class. Course makes heavy use of R but is beginner-friendly. Assignments are tricky & time-consuming but he's willing to give hints in office hours. The midterm & final were impossible, but he curves a little at the end. Basically a graduate level course but all the grad students dropped it LOL. Makes you work.

He is the only prof that pushes me to learn. Even though he is very strict, I actually memorizes the concepts by his emphasizing voices for several times. This is not a simple course but if you spend a lot of time on doing practice questions, written assignments, as well as attending classes and tutorials every time, you will be in good shape.

As a prof, he is good; he teaches well and is very knowledgeable. Lectures arent recorded, be sure to attend IRL for good examples he provides. He is pretty nice, but he can be very condescending, especially if you ask something during the lecture. He's nicer during office hours. The midterm was moderately difficult, and the assignments were fair.
