Class is interesting. Teacher makes sure you understand do nt like his grading system.
lots of quizzes,no homework,3 papers, u need to pay attention
We all love professor Angelo Messore! He is funny, and interested in what he teaches. Thank you Mr. Messore!
Took him in 1999 and was impressed with his knowledge of politics and with his passion for teaching the subject. The final was VERY hard - I was lucky to walk out with a B. Great teacher though!
I had NO interest in Poli Sci before taking this class, and to my surprise I had a BLAST. Prof. was extremely knowledgable and made politics fun. Lots of quizzes, but plenty of prep time & review. (Note to conservatives: class has a liberal bent.)
Mr. Messore was an excellent teacher. You have to pay attention in class, then you will do well. I would reccomend taking his class. If you do, make sure you always have a #2 pencil with you during class!
Good guy, good teacher, and moderate difficulty. Be prepared to intake a massive amount of material. Note- 2 papers, many quizzes, 2 tests
My favorite
Professor Messore is the man! AG requires much, albeit easy work. If you study and allot your time prudently, you will do well. I wish I could take every class w/ him.
Truly the man!
Truly the best professor I have ever had!
This professor was not as subjective as he should be. On one of my papers he returned it with many notes, one comparing President Bush to Adolf Hitler. A teacher should not berate the current president to his students.
Messore was great, helpful, fun and interesting. He truly enjoys what he does. Warning - always keep a copy of your stuff, very very messy person. His office floor cannot be seen, last I knew.
was one of the better more helpful professors I've had.
Very easy going. Encourages questions from students. Very quirky in his movements when he's teaching. Most of what's in the text he goes over in his lectures. Lots of and handouts, lots of notes, lots of quizes. The quizes were fairly easy so it was an easy grade. He is very unorganized though. Went to his office one time and I thought a bomb blew up in there and then it was by a tornado.
mr. messore is a great teacher. he makes sures we all understand the material and the hour and twenty minutes doesn't drone on like it does in my other classes. he is ver animated in teaching and the subject isn't too bad. hands down he is the best teacher.
Amazing. Most generous, caring, brilliant person on campus. Will do anything to help students. Class always fun, esp. with his sense of humor. Loves discussion. Had 9 quizzes, inc. 1 take-home and 1 open book; gives guides and also reviews right before quizzes. Will take every course I can with him. (And I find his office endearing, much like him.)
Professor is the best! I took Amer gov't/politics-made the info clear and encouraged full class discussion. Yes, he had a liberal leaning in discussions, but if a student could back up an argument from ANY point of view,it was an open forum-he substantiated his opinions, he expected the same from students. One of the best professors I have had, and
Very nice teacher, quizzes a bit of a pain. They keep coming and coming! Take good notes and study old tests for midterm/final and you're set. Some of the students can be annoying in this type of class, though, so watch out.
amazing
A great professor who can get you interested in the subject!
Angelo is real great...he can get very animated at times. His classes are pretty straight forward and as long as your familiar with current events it is a breeze. There are some people in these classes that are pretty annoying, on the first day of class he asked how many states were in the U.S. someone said 52.
Coolest teacher ever. Extremely helpful. Show up to class and take notes. Exams and quizzes are so easy because he repeats the facts so many times that it kinda sticks with you. He also reviews before giving exams and quizzes. 1 book review. You wont regret taking him.
Angelo Messore is what most people wish their teacher was like. It's hard to find a teacher who teaches you a lot, and it's easy. As long as you take notes and listen to what this man has to say, passing the class will be a breeze and you'll be smarter for it!!!!!
BEST TEACHER EVER! You actually learn in this class through going over little bits at a time and going deeper into things when it is necessary and doing projects and readings taht actually furhter your knowledge. Beware though: he explains with his hands and he almost always has something in them, i've been hit on occasion :D
this guy is a really good guy, explains stuff so much, and if you fail, you are honestly stupid. warning: HE IS QUITE LIBERAL!!!!!!!! CONSERVATIVES MAY HAVE A HARD TIME STOMACHING IT
he is an amazingg teacher. he is one of the few that actually loves teaching. you dont regret taking him.
great guy!
I really enjoyed having Professor Messore for American Government. He's very nice and easy to understand. In this class, you have numerous quizzes, a four-page book review, and two exams. The quizzes and exams will be very easy if you read the textbook and take good notes during class. You could easily get an A in this class.
Angelo, is a very clear and concise professor, He gives you all the materials you need in orer to succeed in his class. I highly recommend him if anyone is interested in taking his course.
A great professor who is as nice to talk to as listen lecture. He has a genuine and funny personality as well as very educated on his classes. He gives all the necessary notes, guides, material to succeed.
I took him for American Government and let me tell you, I really didn't know much. I learned so much and he made every class so interesting. He really knows what hes talking about and if you pay attention, you will easily pass. Take this class if you want to learn a lot and be interested thoughout..also if you want a B/A !!
Great lectures with a lot of currant information. I took this class in the summer. It was fast moving, but easy to follow.
Overly knowledgeable regarding the workings of our government apparatus. Is passionate about ensuring that his students understand the fundamentals of the subject, and succeeds at this task. However, his opinion is regularly interjected into his teachings, sometimes with what seems to be an agenda to eradicate conservative beliefs.
He's a Democrat who used to work for Republicans, so I find him very "fair and balanced." Tries to get you thinking about material as it relates to current events. He has gotten harder than I remember him being in POL 111 but he's still very helpful and fair.
Really good teacher. Nice guy, easy to approach and talk to. He's interesting and is entertaining. My favorite class for the semester, and I dont even have any interest in the subject. If you can take him, DO IT!!!
I took this online over the Summer - DO NOT DO THIS! A lot of work without much (actual) instruction - just loads of reading. I'm sure Professor Messore is fine in a traditional classroom setting but NOT online.
Do not take this class online especially during the summer course! I am sure he is a great teacher but I got nothing out of this course but a big headache and lots of stress.
He is a great teacher! One of the best. He seemed very balanced until the lesson on political parties. I'm republican, was offended and wanted to walk out of class. Other than his bias opinions he is quite clear with what is expected. REMEMBER TO READ THE BOOK BEFORE TESTS!
Unlike some professors that I've encountered at MCC, Messore knows the material inside and out. He's my favorite professor - easy to talk to and reasonable. If you read, takes notes, study, and attend class on a regular basis you'll do fine. I gained a lot of knowledge about politics and it's been much easier to interpret politics after his course.
He is a great teacher. Doesn't ask for much. Two essays a semester. Class can get VERY boring at times, he talks A LOT. He LOVES to give LOTS of hand outs. He is a hoarder though is office is a complete mess, the floor and desk has stacks upon stacks of papers. Hes a veryyy good teacher though.
Easily my favorite teacher. Very easy to talk to, great at explaining the material, gives excellent feedback on quizzes and papers. Very encouraging. Knows the subject matter very well and is obviously passionate about it. Three papers and a lot of quizzes, but hands out study guides. If you do the reading and take notes you will easily pass.
Professor Messore is an incredibly competent, personable, and intelligent man who is clearly teaching for all the right reasons. His passion for conveying the vast pool of knowledge that he has acquired throughout his life shows in each and every class that he instructs. I would highly recommend taking him to anyone who truly wants to learn.
This is a great Professor. He is extremely knowledgeable, very open to questions, clear on his lectures and requirements. He gives lots of work and he gives study guides which if you do not use, you will be sorry. A tough course, but he makes it very interesting. Work hard and get the A.
Messore's American Government course was easily the most thorough I have taken while at MCC. He utilizes TONS (literal) of resources and draws examples of content in current affairs. He's an incredibly helpful and dedicated teacher and I highly recommend his class.
enjoyed his class
Horrible. Way to much and not a lot of clear direction. All over the place, tons of material to read, you can't focus on quality work its definitely quantity. I do not recommend this class
Whoa, overload! Handouts kept coming, a lot of reading, lot of vocab & concepts. Take this class alone. Individual will take him off track and you don't get sufficient review prior to quiz. There is a quiz on every chapter. Its very disorganized!
way to much and all over the place, a lot of people walking in late makes it disruptive, gets off track, serious amount of handouts, vocabulary, your self teaching. don't recommend this class.
Disappointed in class! Chapters are never covered completely, a lot of trick questions on tests, tons of handouts to remember for quizzes.
Disappointed! Questions on tests not clear and he goes off class discussion. Always was in a tizzy and he's never clear on what you need to learn.
I dropped the class and switched! The expectations weren't reasonable at all. He doesn't stay focused on an outline or anything. Its not the environment I wanted to pay for and not learn.
Disorganized, confusing, can't stay focused, has too many sideline conversations. Do not recommend this course
His class is by far my favorite so far. His lectures are interesting and thought provoking. Literally you only have to show up, take notes, and learn the vocab. He quizzes a lot, but I easily scored between 95-100 on all of them. His exams are all based on the quizzes and he goes over them all. Would definitely recommend.
a struggle
Professor Messore really knows his stuff, I learned a lot from this class. Most of the classes are lectures with quizzes maybe every other week, but he will push it back if needed. Not much outside work, listen and take notes in class and write two papers. Recommended for anyone wanting to know learn more about politics.
He's very enthusiastic about teaching. He goes over the material before handing out quizzes but he's bit disorganized with the schedule. We find out when we are gonna take a quiz a week before, so it would be helpful if he gave us more time to study. Other than that he's a good professor.
The worst class I have ever attended. Disorganized and unclear. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! 2 papers, tons of quizzes and alot of reading material.
While the class was tough, It's easier if you know some political science info before you go in. As long as you are there every class you'll be fine.
Go to class and write down everything he writes on the board and study it and read the handouts he gives because that will be whats on the quizzes and tests which are very easy, some of the questions are worded like they were written for a first grader. Do that and listen to what he says and you'll pass no problem.
If you want to be challenged and actually learn something about our country and political environment, take this class. While it was the most challenging I've taken at MCC, it was also the most rewarding and interesting. Professor Messore expects more from his students than the typical professor at MCC and you will become smarter because of it
Professor teaching method made me understand everything he was saying. I can gladly say that i will always remember what he taught me in that american government class
Prof. Messore was one of the best professors I've ever had! He's funny and very nice. His lectures are interesting and he engages the class. He also will help you with anything & gives extra credit. He really inspired me to be more interested in politics and how our government works. Pay attention in class & read the textbook and you'll pass.
SO hard. You HAVE to study hard. Make sure you go to every class. This class is more for people who enjoy politics and have the time to study. However, I must say if you seek help, it helps ALOT. He is more willing to help. He also gives out a few extra credit options which is awesome. I must say I did learn a lot. bought 2 books i didn't need
I LOVE THIS CLASS. If I could take another PoliSci class with this Professor I will. We got a lot of quizzes but pay attention and take great notes, you should pass. He does not use powerpoint which is a blessing. He keeps, you intrigued. The exams are easy, really easy, study. He grades hard on the term paper. Just show up to class and take notes.
Probably the best professor I've had in college. He's passionate about what he teaches and isn't afraid to actively engage with students. He's very lecture heavy, but it's more conversational than him talking AT you - don't be afraid to ask questions and respond. He expects quite a lot, but he's clear with what he expects. I'd take him again!
Professor Messore gives many quizzes, but the quizzes are straight forward from the hand-outs given out during class and from the text book. He schedules all work accordingly and he keep students' on track with what too study on the weekly basis. Only a mid-term exam and a final exam. Drops two quizzes. I highly recommend you take his class.
Professor Messore gives many quizzes, but the quizzes are straight forward from the hand-out's he gives in class and from the text book. There are extra credit opportunities. Only a mid-term exam and a final exam. He drop two quizzes. He keeps you on track on what to read on a weekly basis and for testing. I highly recommend you take his class.
The book is MANDATORY you will regret it if you dont purchase/rent the book. Also he gives quizzes almost every week (lengthy) but everything is found in the chapter so if you read you will do well. He has a lot of handouts. STUDY the quizzes the exams questions are literally taken right off the quizzes. Lecture based. 2 essays (4-5pgs) each. Tough
I took Angelos intro to American Government class for credit. The first day of class he gave us all the study guides for quizzes and an assignment for a big paper thats 4-8 pages long. The first class he taught us nothing Then announces that we were going to have a quiz the next class, which I thought was lack of a better word stupid.
Great professor! Cares about his students and is there to help. Gives take home quizes, so if you fail in the in class ones, you have a chance. There is also a field trip to the legislative building for extra credit which is good. I would definitely take his class again hands down an amazing professor!! :)
Great teacher. He is soft spoken at times but does a great job at explaining things. He does give great feed back. I also was able to turn my essay in late without any repercussions.
Extremely quiz/test heavy, as we took 3 quizzes and 1 exam in 3 classes (1 being a take home). If you study the study guides, read the chapters, and take notes in class, you will do well, as the quizzes/tests/exams are very easy. While he tries to maintain an unbiased class, his political biases rear their head with your exam essays and paper.
Messore is my dude. I have had him for two classes now and it is honestly amazing how much patience and care he has for his students. He is not an easy A but with just a little effort this class is definitely an easy A/B.
This Professor is honestly my favorite of all time. I took him at a time where I was confused as to what I want to do in college and he helped me realize that Political Science was to be my destined path. I developed a friendship with this professor, which is not something I can say about many others. PLEASE TAKE THIS MAN, HE IS A HERO!
I would not retake a class with this professor even if I were being paid. He uploads tests without lectures. His tests are usually 100-200 questions (half of which has nothing to do with the chapter you were told to read). By far one of the worst class I have ever taken.
He was one of the most disorganized professors I have ever had. Never gives clear advice on the assignments and his quizzes were stupid long. He knows the subject well and has lots of knowledge, but repeats the same thing over too many times. During the COVID19 shutdown he required us to teach the subject ourselves, and I learned nothing.
I took the online version of this class, so basically you will need to teach yourself everything. However, there was a discussion conference twice a week about the chapters. Tests are heavy, between 50 and 110 questions, and two papers. Prof. Messore gives a lot of handouts but he is always willing to help, he is very knowledgeable.
Professor Messore was a great professor! I really enjoyed his course on American Government. He's extremely knowledgeable of the topic and portrays that in his lectures. I did not find the class very difficult; it covers the basic civics of the U.S. government. I would definitely take another course with Professor Messore.
Good professor. Good lectures, and as long as you pay attention and study for the quizzes, you'll do fine. The course was on the easier side but still challenging. The midterm and final was made up of all the quizes you've taken throughout the year. One essay. Highly recommend taking his courses.
Knowledgeable about his field in pol sci and history. He will say he tracks attendance, but he never took points off if we were absent in my class. Tests and quizzes are long, about 50-100 questions, but they are not too difficult if you studied the material. Just time-consuming. Lots of good feedback on essays. Would take a class with him again.
My favorite professor I've had at MCC. I took American Gov and Intro to Poli-Sci with him and his lectures are very engaging especially if you're interested in the subject matter. He gives great constructive criticism on assignments, but it's still not that hard to do well because he curves the tests and quizzes in a way that helps the whole class.
I took Professor Messore Spring 2025 and he is one of the best professors I have ever had! His lectures are amazing, and he teaches with so much enthusiasm and passion. I also respect how he teaches the uncensored side of American Government and history. There are alot of quizzes and 1 final paper but attending and engaging in class will help you!
Professor Messore is a gem. I am so grateful for his class, he genuinely cares about his students. Messore provides so much intelligent insight and anyone who gets to sit in his lectures consider yourself lucky. The class isn't super easy but it isn't hard. I learned so much in this class. I beg you to take a course with him you won't regret it!
