She is easy on the eyes, but that's it...an awful instructor - just horrid!
Boring class, awful teaching methods. Tests are difficult because she never taught half of the material.

she has you write thought papers that are worth 5% of your mark and are 4-5 pages long! I dont know about you, but i dont have time to put that much effort into a paper thats worth practically nothing- very frustrating. She has good notes, but zooms through everything so you have no time to write them down... too much material also-- stay away!
I like her, she is very nice and approachable. Her tests arn't that bad but the fill-in the blank section sucks! Shes a good teacher and gives candy out during exams. She gives out a 10-12 page group paper, for 6-8 people, so that really sucks!!! Then a presentation is also done on the topic. That was the only downfall of the whole course!!!

If it were not for her striking good looks, she would be unable to hold the attention of students in any facet. Also, a group paper is the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard of, and it accounts for a quarter of your final mark. She is unclear about her expectations on assignments, and tells insufferable stories about her cats.

She was great! Loved her website, great for notes so you didn't have to furiously write while listening in class. The group paper was difficult, but our group did awesome, so over all I'm happy with her and would definitely take another class of hers
This prof is the cream of the crop (looks wise). only taken 1 class with her so I can't say the best prof overall but very nice and interesting course material. keeps interest (sometimes not because of course work but oh well, shes got my attention) Take this prof.. She is really nice and very approachable
I really enjoyed Dr. Birt's lectures. I think she is an excellent prof. I will definitely take more classes from her.
I love this class. Forensic psychology is so cool and Angie's teaching is excellent. I highly recommend this class and this professor!!

He Special Topics in Forensic Psychology is a great course. We are discussing things like deception detection, false confessions, interrogations, etc. I hope she teaches more courses at the Mount!!!
Her exams can be a little tough, but her lectures are clear and her course webpage provides all theinfo. you need to study and do well. Take a course from her. You'll do well.

I loved going to her classes. Dr. Birt motivates her students to do well. She is very fair and will give you lots of help if you ask.

SPECTACULAR! Not only does she know the material but she can teach it too! Pleasant, helpful, beautiful and even has experience with disorders and therefore understands! A+++++
This is the BEST course I've ever taken and the BEST prof!! I HIGHLY recommend it!
We did the whole textbook in one semester. Over 100 typed pages of notes. Midterms and finals were ridiculous and class average was in the 50's and 60's for all three tests. Nice teacher, kind of strange though. Good class just needs to be year long or divided into two parts. Very hard marker. I'll be lucky to pass and I had A's in intro psych.

This was my first psychology course, and I loved it! Dr. Birt made the material so interesting and current. I've decided to major in psychology because of this course and Dr. Birt. I can't wait to take another course with her.

Abnormal psychology is my favorite course so far. Dr. Birt is so interesting and gives lots of examples in class.

Awesome professor! My favorite in the psych department. She makes material very easy to understand and she has a passion for what she teaches...knows her stuff. Her tests/papers are hard so study hard and you'll do fine.
She is not flexible in anyway, shape or form. Not interested in helping her students. Expect that we students are made from cookie cutters, when each student is individual with individual needs. Doesn't have any flexibity to those needs. Terrible way of teaching
I really enjoyed Intro Psychology with her. She is fun and interesting. Her tests are a little tough though (lol)! If you keep up with the work, you do good.
Prof knows her material and presents it well in class. Took a first year psyc class with her - was a lot more work the second semester - 3 essays and 2 midterms. More work then the other first year psyc classes ive taken, and hard marker, but good prof

Probably the best prof for knowing her stuff, very interesting classes and alot of great information. Makes the topics fun. VERY hard marker for papers and anything. I did feel like she had a personal problem with me due to several overt things she did. Study hard and be very active in her classes, try not to take things personally... like I did.
She is hot and seems to know her stuff for the teaches. She is a hard marker. Might mark men harder then women (had an assignment for her and a female class mate went over our answers before they were due and they were both the same and she got a higher mark).
Impossible marker on paper. Comments are useless and of absolutely no help to the student who may want to do better on the next paper. Stay away from her.
intresting class and Dr. birt does a great job of making it intresting. but the course load is heavy for 1st year students and grades papers as if you are a 3rd yar student. my suggestion if you av her as a prof, take less courses
Fantastic prof. Smart and funny. Challenges students, and tihs can be tuff at times, but easy to ask for help and understands students problems. I highly recommend her.
She is an extremely hard marker. You will get a low grade on your essays. It's her way or the highway. It's a shame that a university has such closed minded profs.

This was a distance course, but she was always there to help, answer emails, etc. I wish I had have taken it on campus rather than distance,but I would def take another course from her!
She is definitely challenging. But it's refreshing, she gives students the opportunity to work for their marks and is extremely fair. One of my favorite profs.

I've never had a professor criticize my hard work like she does. She doesn't appreciate the work you put into things. Her feedback is RUDE and she leaves you feeling stupid. Its impossible to achieve a good mark in her classes. Everything is group work. Avoid if you want FAIR grades and not snarky/rude comments about your hard work..
Knows her stuff & is enthusiastic, but impossible to know what she wants in assignments. Marks hard. Very frustrating to have to guess & work harder than other classes, then be told you didn't work hard. Work in groups of 5 & this is the bulk of your marks & that is always sketchy. I did learn a lot but was burnt out by class end & got low mark.
Made lectures very interesting, knows her stuff. Quizzes were fair, based on class material, no need to buy text. The paper was IMPOSSIBLE. Hard marker, hate her laugh.

She's on and off... somedays she's the nicest most helpful teacher, the next day she's tells you your work is crap... hard to work with, and marks like you should have already majored in English before entering her course.
Test where very difficult. She uses a lot of online testing and does not give you enough time to complete them. She cancled classes last minute or would show up 15 minutes late.
attitude, Sets people up to fail, goes too fast and doesn't give us the notes if we missed them, says we can find them in the book yet she uses words not even in the book so she says look up other words in the dictionary meaning the same thing then try so we can depth process that is not helping us. We learn if we have the notes. hate class.
AWFUL. If you have her drop out while you can. Rude, talks down to you, annoying and absolutely dread going to class. My mark will suffer because of her and she doesn't care. Wont give missed notes yet she goes way too fast for you to even get them. terrible.

It's an intro to psychology class so it basically as general as you can get...I find that tough about intro course personally because you have to focus on multiple things. Which I find Angie does - wants you to focus on many things. I can see she really loves psychology but man this subject isn't for me. Only taking it because I need the credit.
HATED this class. Dreaded coming to her class. She makes you feel stupid, like you genuinely are dumb. She's very obnoxious and talks down to people. Cannot WAIT to be done her class. Would NEVER take another course from her again. Impossible marker, and just a rude person.
Angie wants her students to succeed. I enjoyed her class, and found her to be extremely knowledgeable. She knows how to make lectures interesting and engaging, but has a patronizing voice. I found that her class was almost always behind schedule but she didn't care. Angie is extremely strict about attendance but very generous with bonus points.
she's such a hard marker, and isn't very helpful with feedback than than "you need to study more" you literally bust your butt and still just do mediocre. took this class as a fun elective.... big mistake.
Overall, I enjoyed Dr. Birt's class. She was very knowledgeable in the topic and made class interesting. She doesn't just lecture for hours about the topic and expect us to mindlessly listen - she encourages questions and discussions, she is videos and does in class activities. She is a bit of a hard marker but offers lots of bonus points.
Feel mean giving her a 1/5 rating but she truly deserves it. Try to avoid her as a professor. She LOVES using trick questions on exams. Doesn't post slides until after class, and when asked why she was very rude with a student. Ask lots of questions during class and the few students that do answer she doesn't seem to like.
Dr. Birt has clear expectations for her students and challenges you to grow as a learner. For a first-year course, her grading is fair & she gives great feedback. Test content was never a surprise and she gave lots of opportunities for bonus & participation points.
Dr. Birt was very nice and thorough in class! She gave great feedback on assignments and fair evaluations. Amazing class for people who do not like long or short answer questions, as her exams have multiple choice, true or false, and fill in the blank. As well, she allowed extra credit and gave a bonus point to students who came to the last class!
Angie is a good professor, but she expects a lot from students. I found myself often crying after receiving grades back from her because the comments all over your paper would make you feel genuinely dumb. She expects you to have a phd before you've ever joined her class. It's not worth the bad grade, take a different class.
Not worth the time, or the grade. She was brutally harsh with paper feedback, never taught anything just relied on other sources, very specific exam questions, and overall very rude. Made me feel like an idiot at times with the way she graded things, so it is not worth the mental strain. Would not recommend
Extremely difficult for a first year class. Assignments have basically no instructions and nothing is explained in class. Myself and other students felt like headless chickens running around aimlessly. She sticks to the slides far too much and will not dedicate time to help with assignments in class. felt very disengaged,ended up hating the course.
Expect to write many group papers, receive very harsh feedback with vague corrections and lots of it. The course is so interesting but I was turned off because of her teaching style, she goes through the lecture notes fast and only posts notes after class.
There is an assignment in which you write the results page of a research paper, then in the next assignment you reuse it to write a full paper. She gave me a 90 with almost no feedback on the results page, then on the full paper I got a 60 and suddenly so many errors I made on the results page were pointed out to me. Unfair grading, unhelpful prof.
She is very strict, her lectures are very dense. She goes really fast in her lectures, it is hard to grasp the material. My advice for future students is to make sure to read the syllabus and textbook before class. My advice to her is give students a powerpoint, with all the content in the class and then another "fill in the blank" for studying.
Don't take this class expecting it to be easy if you're sensitive to criticism, she is so mean and makes you feel stupid for not knowing everything. She won't give extensions, she'll take points off for petty things, and she'll leave a lot of comments on your paper that are extremely unhelpful and will make you cry. The exams aren't awful though.
Honestly the single worst professor ive ever had. Graded insanely harsh and would design exams and tests to intentionally trick you, doesn't grade on a curve even though the average of the midterms were literally in the low 50s and refuses to take responsibility for the low average and just chalked it up to people not working hard enough.
She does not want to educate you, she wants to punish you and fail you and prove she is better than you. I got treated with more respect in high-school then in her presence and taking her classes is what pushed me over the edge to seek education elsewhere. This is coming from many people I know taking classes with her as well.
Dr. Birt is great at keeping everyone focused on the material she is presenting. She does not read directly from the slides and gives great examples which is very helpful.
Dr. Birt is a fantastic lecturer and a passionate teacher. She gives detailed and useful feedback, lets you know what you're doing wrong and how to improve it. I did not find her harsh or overly critical at all. This course is on the heavier side in terms of workload. Very accommodating and available to students as well + offered bonus points!
Not a course I would recommend. The instructor provided very harsh feedback on papers, offered little direct teaching, and relied heavily on external sources. Exam questions were very specific, and the grading style often felt discouraging, which made the course mentally draining
She taught probably my favourite topic in psychology and caused a distaste for forensic psychology to develop. Will be doing everything I can to avoid her as a professor for the remainder of my degree.
show up to class because she takes EVERYTHING out of the power points before she posts them!!! also exams are very lecture heavy
Was never meant to be a uni prof, she talks AT students not to them and is super condescending. Very quiz and lecture heavy. If you need extra help, good luck. Would def avoid if you don't like pop quizzes, lots of quizzes, and REQUIRED getting up infront of the class (If you don't she freaks).
If she didn't have the textbook she would have nothing to grade you on. She talks at you and not to you and she is very condescending at times. She was meant to be a highschool teacher and not a prof. Her teaching methods are very questionable for the ages she teaches. Wouldn't take again.
