Very engaging lecturer, uses body language to draw students' attention. Extremely helpful during office hours. Fair exam questions. I wish she would teach more courses in Biology.

my favourite teacher at ubc! she makes really good notes so you dont really need the textbook. its a hard course but she makes it enjoyable. makes funny jokes and has deceptively hard exams.
for a first time teacher she's doing an incredible job.
She's a reli nice prof~~wonderful lectures and useful notes. but still this is a hard course, esp the lab part~~pulls down ur mark a lot~~
Angie is a nice teacher. Very clear in lectures. She has fair exams- test questions are largely based on the review questions she posts online (so make sure you do them!) The lab for this course was definitely more tricky than the lecture. But it was super interesting. I loved this course overall.
She's did a great job in her first time teaching. Her exams aren't so bad, and are exactly what you would expect. Just study WELL from the study questions, and read her notes thoroughly. Powerpoints are posted, but you'd probably want to attend the lecture. Good luck!
i love her.she was just so adorable! i loved her jokes :) one of the best teachers in ubc but also super nice. she was very easy to talk to and didn't have any of that intimidating arrogance some profs have. Thank you Angie!
Hands down one of the most amazing professors I've ever had. It's so refreshing to have a professor who not only truly loves the subject, but is passionate about teaching. Exams are fair and lectures are interesting. Fantastic course.
Angie is a great prof, engaging, interesting and nice. She is active on Vista, open to help students after class and always looking to improve her teaching.
Best prof, and probably best prof ill ever have in UBC. Passionate about material, funny and nice and informative. Course might be hard (esp the Lab portion) but she makes it fun. On our last lecture, she got a standing ovation from us for like 5 minutes.
she was awesome like always. had her for 204 and absolutely loved her. she was the better prof of the class but overall its a straight forward class. she made it very interesting.
Very enthusiastic about material. Makes you interested because of that. Best prof I have encountered yet.
Angie was probably the most enthusiastic prof I have ever had! Her affection with the material resulted in her lectures to be so enjoyable. Tests are very fair and she is a great help at office hours. She speaks very clearly and answers nearly every question you throw at her. Her teaching and notes made the text useless! I definitely recommend her.

Angie is one of my top favorite teacher of all time! The amount of material needs to be covered is quite a bit for 2nd year biology, esp they are somewhat required for memorization. However, Angie makes it very interesting, and students had incentives to do well in the course. She is helpful, extremely nice, born to be a teacher!
Best prof I've ever had
Really good prof, wish I took more courses with her. She teaches the lab portions of biol 204 and 205 starting 2011-2012 winter session so unfortunately she might not be teaching any lecture courses any time soon =(
Angie is great. She's helpful and loves her job. However, she doesn't understand that not everybody loves labs as much as she does, and I feel she could've asked for less memorization on our part. But as an instructor, she's good.
great lab instructor for lab 204. Very knowlegable. Best bio class i have ever took. Very interesting. Must put alot of effort in those bell ringer lab exams. Ask questions you don't know. Angie is happy to help, Shes so nice, taught us for 204 lecture, made it very interesting and clear. want her as prof instead of tezlaf for lecture.
I had her for the Biol 204 lab portion and I found her very enthusiastic and extremely helpful. She's very knowledgeable about the material and has a clear way of explaining information that made it easy to understand. One of the best instructors I've had.
She teaches the lab portion of the BIO 205 course and rocks at it. Honestly, she has so much enthusiasm that just makes the lab fun. If a student thinks they found something interesting in the microscopy and she agrees, you can see that it just makes her day and she lets you know. Must have experience, her lab.
she is soooo SWEET
she's a great prof! nice, easy to talk to, and so helpful! she explains things so well! its much easier than trying to learn the material by yourself through a textbook. she was the lab director for my bio 204 class.
She is a wealth of knowledge, explains things wonderfully, and is an awesome person
Best prof ever! She is super helpful, often going out of her way to answer questions and attend labs. She takes her own time to make a review session before the final, and is very approachable and friendly.
Hands-down the best prof I've had in my three years here. Extremely enthusiastic, clear, and helpful. Her exam materials are excellent, especially the practice questions. She also works hard to make sure students succeed. Before lab exams, almost a week of open labs were held, and she tried to be there as much as possible to answer questions
Angie is a great prof! I'm very excited to have her again next semester! She is very clear and understandable when explaining material. I had her for the lab material in 205 and really liked all of the opportunities to check my progress with the little end of class quizzes and lots of review questions and open lab times before the exams.
As soon as you walk into angie's lab you can feel how much she cares about the students and how much she geniunely loves teaching. She is passionate about the material and makes sure that you understand concepts. To do well on lab exam midterm do learning objectives, do practice&review questions. Can't wait to have her as a prof in Biol 204 too!
Angie is amazing. She is the most helpful professor I've ever had in UBC science. Her lectures are engaging and she went out of her way and spend hours with me to help me do well. I'm very thankful I got into her class!
angie is adorable and super helpful. she also keeps her lectures interesting by imitating several animals
Best teacher ever. Loved everything about her teaching. Bravo!
One of the most incredible profs that I have ever had. EVER! If you have the chance to take one of her courses, do it immediately, before it fills up (cos it will). So helpful and clear. Will do everything in her power to make sure you pass well. Goes above and beyond for her students. Very approachable and open, and generally great to talk to.
Angie is the best prof I have had at UBC, her lectures are always engaging and clear
Angie is a really great professor compared to many others at UBC. All her lectures were extremely clear and she went above and beyond to make students succeed. Her intense clarity seemed to limit any critical thinking though, making the class feel below university level. But, hey! I'm not complaining! Makes it easy to do well!
Angie was one of my favourite profs at UBC. Shes very passionate about the material, but more so about teaching. She is kind, approachable and really goes above and beyond for her students. The lab component is very helpful for this course, and she is onsite giving demos and one on one help to students. Tests are very fair and course is interesting
By far the best prof I've had at UBC. I also had her as the lab coordinator for BIOL205 and she was equally amazing. She has amazing speaking skills, and makes concepts and ideas so easy to understand and remember. Loved the little youtube snippets in each class. Like the female version of David Attenborough, but cuter and more knowledgable.
The most excellent class I have ever taken- not because of the course itself but because of Angie. She is so passionate about the class and puts so much effort into making it more interesting, easy to understand, and providing you with all the extra study tools you could think of.
She's the lab director for BIOL205 and oversees every single lab section for the course. She's amazing and sweet and a fantastic human being with a passion for invertebrates.
Angie is avery energetic professor. She really cares about her student's learning and is very friendly and kind. The course itself is difficult due to the large amount of new vocabulary to remember. If you do not like memorizing terms do not take this class.
Hands down the BEST PROF I'VE EVER HAD!!! 11/10 :) I wish she taught some upper year courses too. She was honestly the best. When you ask her questions she will give you a wonderful answer without asking another question. She also cared about her students learning alot. Offered review sessions too!
She reminds me of a kindergarten teacher, she really cares about you! I wish all my profs could be as cool as Angie.
Angie is hands down the best prof I've had so far in UBC. She's super caring and tells us exactly whats expected from us. The course itself has lots of material to memorize but her lecture slides are super helpful in studying. She's also a fair grader and her tests are all similar to the practice tests she gives us.
The bio 205 labs are tough; between dissecting tiny invertebrates and identifying even smaller structures, and trying to figure out what different blobs and splotches on colour on microscope slides is challenging! Despite this, Angie is extremely helpful and patient, and tirelessly goes around the classroom to help out all the students!Great prof!
Had her as the lab coordinator. Had questions every 2 minutes but she was still always happy to help and explained things fully. Super clear in all her explanations and obviously cares alot about students. She made the labs very relaxed and no one felt stressed about it at all. She made dissections fun and explained all structures clearly
Angie is one of the most caring professors I have had. She is very accommodating, empathetic and understanding as well. Her lectures cover all you need to know for the lecture exams of the course and the practise problems she gives are almost identical (if not the same) as some of the ones that appear in exams.
Amazing. Such engaging, clear lectures where she explains everthing really well. She also provides you with a lot of practice questions with very clear answer keys. I absolutely loved this class. Its very easy to do well too, as long as you put in the time.
I'm writing this in the middle of a veterinary school class, but I just HAVE to give Angie a shout out! Somehow her embryology explanation is leagues above what the doctors here are explaining and her vertebrate zoology class (BIO 204) has set me up so well for success in future classes. It might seem hard during but oh my god does it help!
Angie is one of the sweetest instructors I have ever come across. She is so willing to help any student and she wants everyone to succeed. Her slides are very clear and organized and she is clear with what she expects. Her classes are fun and welcoming.
Angie is one of the most inspiring profs Ive had. She is so kind, cares a lot about her students and our learning, and makes every class fun and memorable! I loved the videos she included to show the different animals we learned about. She makes me want to do zoology as a career!
Angie is THE BEST prof I've had so far!! Her lectures are super engaging and she makes learning invertebrate zoology super fun and interesting. To get a good grade, I would go to lectures since her exams include questions from her in class discussions and her "exam like" clicker questions.
Angie is the best prof I've had at UBC! She's an amazing lecturer; makes everything very clear and makes it easy to ask questions. Ensures everyone understands what's going on. She made Biol 205 so interesting
The best professor at UBC. HIGHLY recommend.
Angie is always incredibly positive and uplifting. She's excellent at conveying topics and going to class will actually help you fully understand concepts. It makes me kinda sad that in-person lecture were cancelled due to COVID-19 because we never got to give her that final applause every prof gets at the end of the term:(
The effort she put into making the course work online was incredible. She is kind and really cares about student learning. She is obviously passionate about the material and gets students excited too. Engaging lectures and fair exams. Everything you need to know is in lectures or labs, so no searching through the (optional) textbook required.
She is passionate and always answers questions with a great deal of patience and enthusiasm. She made an online class better than most in-person classes. Lectures are very interesting and engaging.
Caring for her students is an understatement. Angie goes above and beyond to make her students feel heard and respected. She takes the time to hear out her students especially during online class. During the first quarter test, students found that there were too many questions to do in the time frame. She took this advice and adjusted the next 3.
Angie is the best prof you can ever take a class with. She is super understanding and teaches the class very effectively.
She is very disorganized in online learning doesn't even post the videos before quiz deadlines and not even in order. Dissapointed, however she is not like this in person as I took 205 before in person. Great person, but just super bad at organizing
Angie is a sweet prof, however, she takes forever to get assignments out. It has been over a month since we took our midterm and we still haven't gotten our marks back even though the TAs already marked them. In addition, she does not upload lecture videos the day of the asynchronous lecture and takes over a week to get them up on Canvas.
The material itself isn't super hard but it takes a long time to learn and memorize. Angie is a great prof and really take the time to explain things (I think she would make a killer Kindergarten teacher tbh). The slides are detailed enough on their own but she elaborates if you're confused. Labs very helpful.
Angie is one of the most passionate professors I've had. A lot of the material she teaches is quite boring when reading about it, but she somehow manages to make you more interested in the topic in every lecture. The homework is mostly from labs, but most students could complete it during the lab session. The tests are memory heavy though so beware
One of UBC's truly caring professors. I highly recommend any class she teaches.
Angie is one of the nicest profs at UBC. Her tests are not hard to study from as long as you pay attention in class.
Angie is the sweetest professor ever. Her lectures are crystal clear, she provides incredibly interesting examples, and is overall such a kind and engaging lecturer.
Literally best prof ever. Angie if you are reading this i love u.
Angie is the best prof! She's super caring and passionate about what she's teaching. Always super considerate of students' well-being. Her lectures are very clear and easy to understand and she gives good practice questions that are very representative of her exam questions.
Angie is super passionate about teaching and her students. She was always easy to reach and willing to meet with students. Her lectures were clear and engaging. Her practice problems reflected the content that was tested. She is so positive and warm, making every lecture enjoyable. Angie is an absolute gem!
Prof. Angie is a wonderful professor; so compassionate and open to student questions. The material is heavy but her lectures make the material engaging; the animal footage she shows in class shows how passionate she is about teaching and getting students excited about the material. If you're struggling, don't hesitate to reach out, she's the best.
Pros: -Gives practice problems & clicker questions from class w/ answers -Very willing to answer student's questions -MT & final were easy to avg difficulty; very similar to practice q's & content from the slides -Did not force us to finish all the modules mentioned in the course outline Cons: -Lecture can be a little boring & slow
angie was a lovely human but could get carried a way during class which meant class ended late sometimes!
Material spoken in lecture and not found anywhere else is testable, even though often times she says something once then never goes over it again. Me and a few study mates emailed her and she ghosted all of us. Seems sweet on the outside, not sure if it's a facade or just disorganization. Good luck
Angie is very nice and caring, and she is very clear about what will be tested and prepares you well for the exam
She is an amazing prof and has clear expectations for exams. Her practice questions are great for preparing for exams.
Engaging lectures with perfect level of detail. Practice questions almost identical in style/difficulty to real exams which makes it easy to succeed. Very accessible outside of lecture. Some testable content isn't on slides, just means you have go to lecture and take good notes (not hard). Negative reviews below sound like they just skipped class;)
I LOVE ANGIEEEE she is so sweet and you can tell that she really cares for her students!! Amazing lecturer too, I really liked how she would create analogies about complex topics so that we could understand better. No complaints about this prof.
slay queen
This is my first class I have taken with Angie and she was the most amazing professor (my favourite professor!). Her lectures are engaging and she makes classes interesting and fun. She is so kind and brings positive energy to all classes, love her
Angie was the sweetest prof and you could tell that she really cared about what she was teaching. Although lectures could be long and content could be dry, she put good iclicker questions on the slides for practice, which were very reflective of the exams. Exams were both very fair and were reflective of the kinds of questions we did in class.
I LOVE MY GLORIOUS QUEEN ANGIE O'NEILL!!!!!!!!!! she's really kind and her lectures are super easy to follow. also she's really clear about what you need to know for exams
One of the most kind professors out there, you can tell she really really cares about her students. Her lectures are very easy to follow and her slides are clear. She's also really clear about what's on the final/midterms. Definitely recommend taking her!!!
Amazing prof!!! Angie is so caring and great at answering questions super clearly! Also her lectures were super well paced, easy to follow, and engaging! 10/10!
Angie teaches very clearly with easy-to-understand slides and explanations. I really like how she explains processes step by step. She's very friendly and approachable, which makes it easy to ask questions!
Angie is fantastic and teaches really well! Highly recommend taking her class!
