There is a lot of material covered. She warns the first day of class not take the class unless you have to. Angie is very funny and knowledgeable. She relates material to real life events. Power points are helpful and she provides study guides for tests. I very much enjoyed this class.
Excellent teacher! Took Biology 3 times, and well I guess Anglie, being the 3rd, is the charm. Didn't use the book much, lots of powerpoints, but shes frikken hillarious, makes the class go by quick, and your extra credit every day is 2 questions at the beginning of class, so if you go every day and get the q's right, you get 0.2 point every day!!
TAKE HER! She makes it as easy as she can, and she's nice. Who doesn't like a nice teacher? On a further note, her laugh makes me laugh.
Angie was GREAT! After attempting this class 14 years ago I was not looking forward to it, but she is amazing! She is not trying to trick you she just wants you to learn it! Wishing I could take her again!
Runs through powerpoint quickly, does not use book, no study guides!!! Reviewing for test, you must ask her specific questions to get any answers. Bonus points are great, but you must read ahead. You will spend an entire lab working hard and she may or may not grade your work, but miss a lab and be sure she will grade the work.
I took Angie's class as a mini summer session. It was brutal, but she is great! The test are hard so you need to study! She gives enough work to help you pass the class. I failed every test except the final and I made a B+! She's very helpful and nice! I would take her again any day and recommend her to anyone!
I took Angie's class over the summer and I thought it would be terrible having class from 8-1 for 4 days a week and it was time consuming but she made it very painless! The tests are hard but the labs are fun. Half of the final was based off old material (EXACT SAME test questions) and the other half was new material. She also gives extra credit!
She's very easy going and knows what she's talking about. Is willing to help and uses power points to teach. I recommend her.
A wondrful course. Angie makes anatomy approachable, and easy to grasp. She doesn't mind explaining it again, as long as it takes to understand. It takes a lot of studying on the side, but PPoint presentations make it organized. She is truly a good teacher, with great attitude, and willing to help. I would recommend any of the classes she teaches.
Angie is an excellent instructor. She makes me look forward to going to class. If other instructors had the passion about what they are teaching like Angie, more people might find class time more appealing. Angie makes learning difficult material exciting! If you have to take Bio 168, Angie is the one!! She is also SUPER hot!! We love you Angie!
Tests are hard but class was a blast!!
I heard great things before taking her class. She is extremely knowledgeable and knows her stuff for sure. She is extremely fair. It is not an easy class but if you attend each class and approach her for help, you will get it. I wish she was teaching 169 :( She is def. an awesome pick if you can get her.
class is hard but Angie made it as easy as possible. very helpful and knowledgeable.
She is a good teacher her test are just very hard
test are hard she is a great teacher
Extremely nice & laid back. She has a great personality. Her tests are extremely hard, so you have to study a lot.
Excellent instructor & very knowledgable. Test are easy if you put in the time to study. Labs are difficult- pay attention & attendance is beneficial!
She is very helpful. She wants her class to do well and offers a ton of extra credit. Awesome teacher and laughed at my jokes lol :)
this should not be an online class you should expect having no life. like 20-30 hrs a week just in this class
Great professor, friendly, professional and very helpful. She also gives you criteria up front so there are no hidden surprises and if you dont do well its basically your fault. She explains the material very well and uses slide-shows and other media to help drive the information into your head
She is fun and makes class interesting.
I LOVE angie. The class itself is super hard but she makes it fun and enjoyable. She is so helpful and has open lab where you can have extra time studying for lab practicles and tests. Shes amazing and I wish she was teaching 169 next semester at the time i can go. Deffinatley take her class!
Angie is wonderful! Her assignments are clear and she really looks out for her students. She wants to make sure her students really learn the material, so she doesn't slack off. She expects a lot from you,but she does so in such a way that you want to make her proud of you. This class is HARD but she makes it fun!
She is an amazing teacher and she expects a lot out of you! I'm normally a straight A student but her class is tough and you have to know your stuff if you want an A. She loves teaching and is entertaining, highly recommend!
She is an amazing teacher, makes the subject fun and easier to learn. Gives lab practicals, but they are pretty straightforward as long as you do your best. She also gives out extra credit opportunities and sometimes gives you 100 on an assignment just for doing it. All around a great teacher. Impossible to forget her lectures now.
I took Angie's 168 and 169 class. Before taking her class I wanted to do something totally different with my life but she has inspired me to become a PA. Her love for anatomy gets you so excited but certainly pushes you to your breaking point. Because of this, i realized i had what it takes to be in the serious side of the medical field.
Love Angie. She's so fun and makes learning the most difficult things so exciting! Will definitely be taking A&P 2 with her.
Loved taking from her. She makes you work for the grade, but also gives extra points at the end of the semester to boost you up if you deserve it. She really cares about her students and is super clear if you have questions. Some kids in my class whined about the amount of information we were required to know, but I thought it was a good amount.
Angie is one of the best professors I've ever taken. I wish that the "easiness" of the grading didn't count against her score. Anatomy and Physiology is a very tough class with a large amount of subject matter. However, her lectures are amazing, she is funny, very knowledgable, and clear with expectations. You will need to study and do the reading
I took her for Bio168 and 169 and passed both. A and P is not easy but Angie makes it much easier. I would recommend her over all teachers. She is so funny and makes class enjoyable. She does everything she can to make you get the highest grade possible at the end of the semester. Her attendance policy is also very great :)
Angie makes a subject that can be dry from time to time be extremely interesting and on the days it is hard to make the material interesting Angie herself keeps you entertained and paying attention! Probably the hardest I've ever worked in a class EVER, but if you really use everything she gives you and study lots, doing well in her class is easy!!
Good teacher, wants her students to learn and does at great job at explaining a difficult subject. She gives extra credit opportunities, drops lowest quiz and test grades. Very fair grader, will throw out test questions if the majority of the class gets it wrong. Loved having her as a teacher and would take her again.
I've been at CFCC for a while, and Mrs. Angie has been my favorite teacher by far. You have to be INTO this stuff to love it, but even if you're not, she is hilarious and keeps things interesting. I would encourage you to record lectures and relisten to them to study. Lots of memorization, but you will go out knowing your stuff. Loved her!
Mrs. Angie is one of the greatest teachers I had this year. I took A&P with her my first semester at of college. she is understanding. Studying is a must when it comes to quizzes and tests. She is very understanding and so funny youll laugh in every class. I have to retake this class i didnt so good but thats okay. I am taking this it again.
My absolute favorite professor I have ever had. She made you work for your grade but gave plenty of opportunity to succeed. Lots of extra credit!
Favorite teacher I have had probably since high school. Such a great example of what a good professor is supposed to be: clear and concise but passionate about the subject matter, very knowledgeable, yet entertaining, kind, and understanding
She's funny and kind of odd. She makes you work for your grades and likes to make the tests difficult. She is willing to take time to explain anything you need. Very chill and easy going. Attendance is not a big deal with her. Not an easy class but she makes it bearable.
Angie is the BEST! She is a very laid back and easy going kind of professor. Try to take her for both 168&169. That being said A&P is a HARD class. She makes it bearable. She is very passionate about this subject and will try to help you understand it. Overall 10/10 professor! If you're trying to save money get the color workbook and Pearson code!
Hands down, Angie is the best professor I've had so far! She genuinely cares about her students, and is passionate about this subject. I had her BIO168/169. These courses are super tough, but she teaches in a way that reaches a wide range of learning styles (visual/aural/kinesthetic). She will go above and beyond to make sure you get the material!
I took Angie for 168 and 169 and she was great, although, I think she was a better choice for 168. I don't know what happened, but when I took 169, she was a little all over the place. She would spend the 1st half of class just talking about random stuff and the 2nd half, she would rush through her lecture. I don't know, but she's entertaining.
best a & p teacher ever! She takes the Time to make sure you understand each part of the brain. fair teacher as well.
Angie is amazing, the best teacher Ive had at CFCC... She is so helpful, so willing to work with you, and she really cares about her students understanding of the course material... shes super funny. Her homework assignments are great, tests are great if you pay attention, super grateful to have her for both of my required anatomy classes
Angie is the best professor Ive ever had. She is super helpful and cares a lot about her about her students! Extra credit opportunities are available throughout the semester which you should take full advantage of. Although attendance isnt mandatory, you can easily fall behind if you dont go to class. Work hard and you can get an A :)
Angie is absolutely amazing! Bio 168 is a tough course and requires lots of studying but, she makes it so easy. During lectures, she makes her own powerpoints that include diagrams and pictures and she explains everything in detail. She encourages students to ask questions and stop by her office. Put in the effort and you will pass!
Angie is one of the best teachers ever! You can feel her passion for her work while she is teaching you. She cares for each and every one of her students and wants them to pass her class just as bad as they want to pass, but she is not about to make it easy for anyone! She uses her real word accidents and experiences to teach the material. love her
Mrs. Angie is sweet, down to earth individual but she will make you work for your grade. STUDY EVERY POWERPOINT SLIDE! I made an A in both BIO 168 and 169 the slides cover almost everything on her tests. Yes it involved lots of study time but going into the medical field we need to know this information. She IS AWESOME!
Angie was great! weekly homework is easy to keep up with. Tests are hard but if you take all 5 she drops the lowest grade. Drops 2 low homework and lab grades to help you at the end! Great extra credit offered.
LOVED ANGIE! I had her for 168 & 169 and she made this extremely hard class and made it enjoyable! You can tell she loves what she does and tries to joke around with everyone. She offers good extra credit along with a test review/ study session outside of the classroom and attending those I managed to get A's and B's on all my tests and she drops 1
Best professor I've had at CFCC so far!! Definitely take her class for bio 189 & 169! She makes class enjoyable, though the material being learned is difficult. She will joke around and makes it known that she is passionate about what she is teaching.
I had Angie for BIO 168 & 169! She is such a helpful and caring professor that is passionate about her job. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who has to take anatomy. It's a difficult course but she makes it enjoyable.
Angie is by far the best professor at Cape Fear! She is compassionate, caring & so intelligent! She is very well prepared with every lesson for lecture & lab and mixes it up with note taking & hands on group activities. Take advantage of her open lab opportunities!! She prepares you for your program & supports you always. Highly recommend!!!
Angie is an extremely intelligent person with a can do attitude that is second to none. She will do whatever it takes to help you pass her class, if you are willing to put in the effort. Extra credit offered several times throughout the semester. She is on your side! You do have to work in her class, it is hard, but with the best professor at CFCC.
I love Angie. She is a great teacher who truly cares about her students and their success. The class is hard just like any other a&p course, so be prepared to work for your grade. She does drop 1 test and 1 quiz and other assignments. She offers extra credit as well.
Awesome teacher, I passed 168 with a B and 169 with an A you have to work for the grade you want, show up to the lectures and lab and you will do just fine! There are extra credit opportunities so do them! She rounds and drops grades at the end of semester!
Taking A&P with Angie for two semesters in a row was one of the greatest decisions I have ever made. Shes very clear about her grading scale, makes labs interesting and makes lectures as interesting as possible. She has an amazing sense of humor and is just extremely level. If you are able to take her I would highly recommend it.
I absolutely love BIO111 with her and planning on taking 112 with her next semester. Attendance only mandatory because now CFCC says it is. She's super down to earth and talks about the real-world application of biology along with what we're learning from the book.
Angie is the best teacher I have EVER had! I've never been one to skip classes often but it happens occasionally. Her class, I could never skip. Besides the fact that I'd be behind (and would be difficult to catch up) but she is so funny and makes the class just so enjoyable! Can't wait to have her next semester too!
Angie is the bomb dot com! If you fail her class then you worked pretty dern hard to because her lectures are fun and engaging, she gives more than enough opportunities to bring your grade up, tells you what you need to study in order to pass her exams and quizzes, she brings the subject matter home and spends time to make sure you understand it
Labs are the only thing that takes time so be willing to work. She is a very nice teacher and you can tell she only wants success for her students. However, to get a good grade in this class, you have to be willing to do the work.
Angie is a great biology teacher. Even though this class was moved to online due to COVID, she was very accommodating. She sent email reminders weekly and your lowest lab, homework, and test grade gets dropped at the end of the semester. I highly recommend her!
This was an anatomy and physiology ONL course during COVID. This professor gave absolutely NO notes, NO lectures, NO support and expected us to teach ourselves the ridiculously hard material. I loved anatomy until this course. The labs and tests were timed insufficiently with no accommodations for the online format. Do not take this online class.
Angie has been my favorite teacher I've taken at CFCC. She holds amazing lectures and makes it incredible easy to understand concepts. I never wanted to miss a class because her personality made class entertaining while learning, and I don't even like biology. 200% would take her class and more classes from her! Best teacher I've ever had!
Angie is the best!! Answers all my questions and makes it easy to succeed.
literally love angie. Shes the best professor Ive had at cape fear yet!! Definitely solidified my love for bio!!
Angie is the best!! Cant wait to take 112 with her!
I took this class online fall 2021. Super manageable. Just read the chapter each week, do a quiz, and one lab. Labs are online now or in a lab box they ship you at the beginning of the semester. She is a nice grader. If you do the work and understand the material you will get an A. Not a hard class. Highly recommend her for a biology class.
She is the definition of a good science teacher. She is more carefree than you expect and very fun. But when it comes to learning her material she encourages asking questions because she wants you to understand and pass her class. One of my favorite teachers on the campus
By far the best professor I've ever had at Cape Fear. She goes by Angie so look up Angie Shipp-Pennock to see more of her ratings. She is always willing to help if we need it and offers extra credit and tutoring opportunities. Highly recommend! I'm already registered for Bio-112 with her next semester.
Angie is absolutely amazing! She is always present for us if we have questions, and offers extra credit. At the end of the semester, she drops your lowest test, lab, and homework grade. Highly recommend! I'm already registered for Bio-112 with her.
Took this class online in spring 2022. Just read the chapter each week, do a quiz, and one lab. Labs are online now or shipped in a lab box. She is a nice grader and will drop your lowest quiz, lab, and 1 exam. If you do the work and understand the material you will get an A. Highly recommend her for a bio class. I took both her bio 111 and 112.
Love Mrs. Angie, this is my second class with her and she always makes lecture and lab fun! highly recommend taking in person and not hybrid or online.
Angie is so amazing. She always makes class fun while still teaching the material and I would definitely recommend taking an in-person class with her. If you want to do well in her class, just show up, try your best, and most importantly, talk to her, get to know her, and be respectful. I can't wait to take her again next semester.
I absolutely loved Mrs. Angie, she gave me an appreciation for biology. Don't miss out on taking her if you can help it.
This was pretty straight forward and as long as you read the textbook and wrote down the guided notes you shouldn't have an issue with this class. The instructor responds to emails quickly and answers whatever questions you have. She does not take late work but does not give that much homework, just 1 or 2 assignments per unit and a virtual lab.
Honestly, this is one of the worst classes I have ever taken at cape fear. The week assignments were virtual labs and textbook questions that ranged anywhere from 20-50 questions. The labs were very long and truth be told, there was hardly any instruction. If you take this class be prepared to work through a lot of busy work.
She is so funny and really cares about her students. Her anatomy class is a lot but not her fault. She wants you to succeed and lab grades are completion! Exam honestly arent that hard but worth a good bit + dropped exam. She never judges you so dumb questions are welcomed. She will go as slow as you need and has open lab time if you want it.
Mrs. Angie is AMAZING!! She really cares for her students and tries to make hard subjects, such as anatomy fun and simple to understand. She is very responsive and is always willing to help you understand. Her lectures are the best, she's hilarious and engages with the class. She doesn't just stand at the front of the room and talk for 2 hours.
I took Ms. Angie for both bio 111 & bio 112, got A's in both. Funny and caring. Lectures aren't boring. She also gives extra credit!
Took BIO 112 online. Got an A. Weekly vocab write-ins, homework, and 5 exams (lowest dropped). Couldn't work ahead, which was frustrating. Also, didn't know switching tabs during a test meant a zero—wish that was made clear. Luckily, that test got dropped. Overall, class was fair and manageable if you stay on top of the work.
Took BIO 111 online. Provided little to no guidance on how to do the labs. You'd complete them and get back a 0 or a 1. No chance to re-submit the work. She just seemed uninterested in helping the students do well. Many, many students dropped the course. A much better class if you already know Chemistry.
Angie is such a great professor. She has great lectures that are very understandable! She is very funny and personable. She drops the lowest exam, homework, lab, and PAL assignments. If you have her as your professor you are extremely lucky!
Prof Angie has been one of my favorite professors at cfcc! Her lectures are amazing and she makes sure to explain topics in many different ways for each learning type. Exams are straight forward, if you do the chapter study guides you'll do good. Very understanding and drops lowest exam, lab, hw. Def recommend she's the best!!
She's been so amazing this semester. I've really enjoyed her, and she does her best to help you. Go to her open labs (even if they're at 8am). She does give a good bit of homework, but it's not anything excessive in my opinion. She gives questions every class that are worth .10 of a point to add to your FINAL grade! super helpful
