the best teacher ever... want good grade and wanna learn? take her class...
she is still the best math professor ever, i wish she teaches all the calculus series
she is very knowledgable on the subject she's teaching and she make sure you understand, quiz and test are base on hw, as long as u do hw, u'll do find in dis class
she is a good teacher. The way her teaching is not perfect, but good enough. Students in her class can learn clearly . She gives people very good grade. When she grade exams and quiz, she likes to give her students points even they don't get the results.
very lively teaching and has many good examples and aexplantions.
I took her class at SJSU and she was an awesome teacher. She is very thorough about her work and she explains math very well. She is a good teacher and very understanding. You gotta love her b/c she is a rare teacher that really do want to make a differen
Her class was the first class that I took when i got into college. Very easy. teaching is really good. very understandable. she helps you a lot. But you gotta do tons of homework, but if you do those, you will get A
Great teacher u can get good grade and learn a lot. Do ur homework, come everyday, u will getgood grade
I'm amazed with her patient to her students. I'm amazed how easy this class was to me.., but still some students dropped this class. Well, if you follow her lectures and do the homeworks before any tests.., good grade is in your hand.
She is a really good teacher I have ever met. She is very nice.
She's a cool teacher. It's an easy class. If I had studied harder I would get an A. She makes class kinda fun. Especially when she picks on somebody.
she is kinda hard to understand at times, she has a pretty thick accent. but once you get used to it she is so much fun. very nice.
The best thing about her is: her grading not only bases on percentage. If you show her your improvement, even you don't get exact 90%, as long as you are close to 90, you still can get A.
She is a extremely good teacher. She is very open-minded to all students. Her teaching method is very clear and easy to clear. She is very helpful if you need help in class or in the math lab. A+ teacher! VoHoooo!
Easy class, but she's kind of confusing at times.
She's kool , understading and fun , easy-going , helpful teacher . This is my first year at college and she showed me how kool it is !
TAke her she is worth it.
This teacher is very patient and kind. She will not move on until the class understands the lesson. She is a great teacher especially for those of us who aren't very good in math. She does her best to make sure nobody feels out of place.
She is a very kind individual and she goes very slowly to make sure everyone understands the material. Not too bad but lecture can get boring.
taking 152 with her again self pace. even though it's self-paced, she helps a lot. shows me the easy ways of approaching a problem. friendly. funny. easy going. if you show her you try, she'll help you and give you a better grade than you get.
GREAT teacher. Calc was kind of hard for me, but she was a lot of help and very patient with me. She is a very nice person too. Tests are not that bad, just do the homework and you'll be fine.
great teacher!
I loved this teacher! Take ms. Nguyen! Very helpful. I took her a long time ago but I loved her class. I hate math but I loved her math class!!! It was Algebra self paced I was able to complete BOTH 151 A and B in one semester! Thank you Ms. Nguyen!
Really nice teacher.WOw she is friendly, I like her she was extremely helpful DO takE heR class!
Such a nice lady!! She wants you to learn the material and will make time for you until you do. Really upbeat, even with the boring material I was pretty alert for most of her lectures, which is a major feat for me in math classes. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Very nice and helpful. Expains problems in a way that you can actually understand. :)
She is an amazing teacher!! very helpful, and pleasant to work with. She takes pride in her work, and shes always willing to give a helping hand!
Yeah she's nice, very friendly and all, but man does she really go off some random tangent and half of the time I don't understand what she is saying becuase of her accent, no offense. She can be helpful when you ask for it. And make sure to not talk in class and come on time too, otherwise she will just go on and on. Overall, she's pretty okay.
I could barely understand her. She seemed to have a permanent grudge against certain students, and was very prejudiced against them. In general if you can lay low, and survive the most BS ever, this is the class...
Wish she could be better at explaining things, then again, english doesn't seem to be her first language since she has a thick accent. Fair grader. A class where you work reasonably hard to get an A. You get what you work for.
I took Professor Nguyen about 2 years ago but I just wanted to say that she has been one of my favorite professors of all time, definitely the best that I had while at Ohlone. Really helpful and wants you to do well, and acknowledges you when she sees that you're trying. Thank you Professor Nguyen!!
Took her for Math a couple years ago. Best Teacher I ever had for any subject. I hear she teach at SJSU now gonna look for her if I ever need more math!
great teacher, tests are straight forward, doesn't grade the hw. i never got the book or done any hw, i got an A from studying my notes. easy.
Shows up late for test; unprepared, wasted time looking for tests to hand out; wouldn't give extra time despite her lateness; far too many items on the test for the time allotted. English is poor.
yea yea she is enthusiastic while teaching but not as easy as everyone says she is. Just about impossible to argue her for points even if she is wrong and/or unfair; dosen't even look at her grading again, basically just says nope im right your wrong. Very hard to get an A and even getting a B is a huge timesuck.
Her requirements are very minimum: If you do your homework, you would get good grade for Test or Quiz. Also she is very systematic in explaining things. If you are a person who is shy to ask in front of class, she even has office hours when she gives very much detailed explanation of the question you might have. Very GOOD instructor.
i took her 6:50am class. takes away alot of your freetime. you definetly need to do your hw and even if you do all, you still might not get an A. drops lowest test and quiz and rounds up but still not as easy as her easiness rating is here. beware
She is the BEST !!! Though i got C in her class but she is good Sport !!!
I get tired of the lecture on lateness that we have to endure every day. She's not very approachable either: she always thinks she right, even when she's wrong. She seems obsessed with the class attendance - to the point of madness: even if you are going into the hospital, she acts as if that's not a valid excuse for missing class. Unreasonable.
So I suck at math, and I passed 190 with flying colors. When I got into 151 with Nguyen I did horrible. It was so hard to understand her, and all her homework is online so if I messed up I just redid it over again, not learning anything. If your bad at math I would suggest NOT taking her.
She was a very fair teacher. Allowed students to make up some points. Very friendly. Subject was hard but she really wanted to help students. I felt like she was on my side! Taking it at 6:50 AM was a bit hard but she was not super tight with tardy!
People complaining about her are just slackers. She is extremely fair and gives folks plenty of second chances to make up points.
she is the BEST teacher ever! always willing to help and give second chances!
She has a really thick accent. It's sometimes hard to learn through it.
She tries very hard to teach students the required material, yet it can be a challenge to understand her. tests get perpetually harder as the class progresses. She seems like she wants every one to pass but isnt very good at explaining things gets fustrated/mad easily. Has students she favors not cool. She is an subaverage Prof with average tests.
Really, really good teacher!!!Take her class, if you wanna A and learn useful math.
As long as you come to class and pay attention you should be able to do good. I have not had math in a long time and she made me like math again. I really enjoyed this class; if you slack off and don't do the work then the only one to fault is yourself.
I corrected her on multiple occasions, she acknowledged that she was wrong, her accent is a bit harsh but after a couple days you get used to it. She is helpful. the tests will get harder as the semester progresses, that is natural progression of what your school is like. Especially with math you are building from the fundamentals and progressing.
Almost no time for tests at all.even if you do homework it wont help.
She doesn't follow the textbook and only uses it for homework problems, so TAKE NOTES! She wastes a lot of time doing roll call, so the lectures are a little rushed. If you suck at math, make sure you have time to get help from her at the MLC, especially with homework. Otherwise, you'll be screwed on the tests as they become more difficult.
Great
She is such a nice teacher. Shes funny too. I recommend taking her if you can shes very helpful and she wants everyone to pass so she helps as much as she can. You don't have to use the textbook but you do have to use mymathlab.com
Does NOT give enough time for exams, expect us to do 12 long integration problems + applications problems in a hour for her exams. More than half of the class was failing.
Took the 6:50 . Her quizzes were easy tests more challenging. Easy Final. Drops one quiz and is lenient about rounding peoples grades up. Someone in class got 50% and they ended up getting C. She can be confusing at times, attendance is mandatory for her, but overall she is a good teacher who cares about her students performance in class.
She's very helpful, do your part and you will pass
One of the best Calculus 1 professor here in Ohlone. She is very helpful, and a kind professor who cares about her students ability to succeed. She is not very easy, but if you pay attention and do all the homework and participate in her class lectures, you should be able to gain the knowledge proficiently to pass. Otherwise, i recommend her!
Very interesting lectures and she makes you love math a lot. Her tests are not that easy so learning the concept is the important key to succeeding in her class. She is very helpful and caring. Her quizzes aren't as hard as her test, so her class is definitely do-able. Highly recommended!
Her tests and grading are pretty hard. Be sure to attend all classes and do all the homework, cause she tests off of homework and her lectures. She is very particular about attending class. At the end of the year she became really generous and drops low quizes and replaces low test grade with the entire test average.
I highly recommend her. She is so nice and caring that learning in her class is definitely a comfortable experience. She is very helpful and is willing to help you succeed if you do the work and put your trust into her class. Definitely doable!!
Professor Nguyen is a kind, very understandable, and helpful professor. Her teaching style represents that students should have the decency to develop the ability to grasp onto the concept of 101A really well. I do recommend newcomers to Calculus to take Nguyen because she might be the right type for you.
Rushes through lectures, humiliates people who ask questions. Would not recommend unless you have help from outside of the class.
Took her for 101A in the fall as well. She's a professor that cares for your understanding in Calculus. her tests/quizzes reflects on what she teaches in her lectures and partially on Mymathlab. Also, she is a very lenient grader. No math professor like her.
I had this professor for both 101A and 101B. It was the best experience ever. She explains things very well and her tests are very fun to take. Her tests are based off of what you learned in class and from mymathlab. She is very friendly and is willing to do her best to help students who are lost in math. She made me love Calculus so much. Take her
I hope to take her class through all 101 classes
Professor Nguyen is hands down the best instructor I've ever had. Math has always been a struggle for me and I received C's in previous math courses. However, her teaching style has made me love math. I did no further studying outside of class and received an A easily. All you have to do is go to class. I'm looking forward to taking Calc with her.
A good but tough teacher, she expects you to take the time to study but shes also very clear on the material, I've barely had to open the textbook because her notes are really clear and she gives you time to copy them down. If you're serious about this class you will pass. Hope she gives more time for quizzes though
Took her summer class. Worst IDEA ever. Everything was online. She did not teach in class at all and expected students to get help on their own through tutors. Everything I learned was from the program she used. Although it was online based, she made students come to class anyways to do homework. 4 absence was an auto drop!
Very strict but helpful. The tutors really made the difference. Likes to whine though.
Homework is optional, but quizzes and tests are based on the homework. Linear Algebra isn't really hard, but there are lots of proofs involved. Go to her office hours and visit the Math Learning Center if you need help. Really nice person, but sometimes it feels like not enough time is given for quizzes.
Great Professor. A bit hilarious! Watch out for your phones because she can tell of you are using it from afar. She requires mymathlab in her 152 class. Don't worry! Her quizzes and tests are a bit easier than the homeworks.
I took her for Trig. She explains trig in very simple way and easy for students to understand. The quizzes and tests are not hard at all if you attend all classes and do the homework. Don't worry if you don't have time to study for quiz, she'll review the topic right before the quizzes or tests start. No reason to fail her class.
I took her Linear Algebra class last semester, we had 3 quizzes, 3 tests, and a final. Of the 3 quizzes, 2 of them were in-class and one was take home. On the tests and final, there are various proofs that can be confusing if you don't know the theorems and how to apply them. Reading the book and going to the MLC are both helpful for the class.
DO. THE. HOMEWORK. I can't stress this enough. Most people who do badly in the class are lazy and don't do the homework. Her tests are really straightforward, pretty much from the hw/ class notes. She's a great teacher and I'd love to have her again for another math class.
Better than my previous math professors. I like the way she teaches. She didn't collect homework. Her tests are challenging, but not that hard.
great teacher
Professor Anh displays a profound understanding in the subject of Calculus. Her lectures are clear and easy to follow along. She takes extra care to make sure everyone understands the subject matter before moving on. Her timings are mostly early in the morning, so that may be a turn off to some people.
Take this class if you already took Calc in high school. If you are looking to learn for the first time do not take this professor. She takes a lot of things for granted and rushes through the material. Be careful when asking questions, she might make you look dumb. Very intimidating... Her english is hard to understand.
40%Tests, 25%Final, 25% quizzes,10%HW. Mrs. Nguyen really was a great teacher. Took the time to sit down with me at times in the MathLab to explain hard concepts until I got it. A lot of homework but honestly I feel it was needed. Quizzes are based off the HW but different #s. Tests can be tricky but I felt they were fair. Hope to have her again.
At the beginning I had trouble with her accent. And because she is fast with slides I had to take pictures with my cell phone, but she always complains if you use it. But I did anyway, after explain to her that I needed the pics because I couldn't finish copy. Do homework and come to class it's very important to succeed.
One of the best math teachers hands down. She truly cares about the students and wants everyone to pass. The material, of course, takes a lot of time to understand, but it is not impossible. Do the homework, study for quizzes, prepare for tests and you will get a good grade.
A great math instructor, she makes the material easy to understand. It is expected there is to be a lot of studying, but it is not as difficult as it seems. Just follow all of the deadlines and you will be fine.
She is good at explaining the material but she moves through it fast so you will need to read the text and do the homework to reinforce the concepts before the tests and quizzes. Realistically you need to spend the 5 hours per week attending class and about 5 hours or more studying outside of class. She is willing to answer questions and help.
Glad I took the self paced class with her, she can think out side the box and adapts to individual learning styles. If your struggling with lectured classes, try a self paced class. It is the best choice I made when regarding math.
Honestly, despite her heavy accent still one of the best professor/teachers I've ever had. Lectures were really helpful and she really does care that you succeed in her class. You can get easily left behind however if you procrastinate too much like me.
My class was five days a week for one hour periods, and on quiz days Professor Nguyen would spend the first half of the class reviewing material that would be on the quiz, and would spend a full day before tests going over the exact subject matter. Quizzes and tests were pretty similar to the homework problems too. If you study, you should do well.
Best math professor I ever had. She is a non-lazy worker bee and I appropriate her work ethic plus she thinks outside the box when having difficulty with formulas.
Literally the worst professor I have ever taken. 25 students dropped before the end of the semester. Instead of helping students and understanding their situations, she tells the whole class, "if you do bad, drop the class and change your major." Highly recommend to NOT TAKE HER.
I wanted to write this around the time of registration for next semester just to warn anyone thinking about taking her. She has too high expectations from her students, she never listens to her students and will encourage you to drop rather than helping you. More than half of her class has already dropped, she doesn't deserve to be a professor
This professor is probably the most unreasonable one that I have taken in a long time. When asked questions in class, instead of answering them, she actually just brushes you aside saying that she "doesn't want to talk about it." I learned more from just skimming the textbook than I did in multiple lectures. Beware this teacher.
I took her class which is MATH-152 in SPRING 2018. She is the best teacher in Ohlone College. Clear in grading. She makes her class interesting. Easy A. A lot of extra credits. However, there were many assignments and quizzes in this class; as long as you do all the assignments, and quizzes, then you would be fine (at least B).
Compelled to write this seeing the false accusations. Reality: Reviews below w/ insane upvotes are OMG & studnt groups, expecting mouthfed A. 101B is the TOUGHEST class. Yet most got B. Final easy. C: 66.5%+. VERY jolly & funny, but gets annoyed by studnts constantly on their phones, like Mr. 'demotivating' below. Merciful grading. KNOWS HER STUFF.
Took her Math 188 class. Textbook not required, relies on MyMathLab. You do homework on there. Take notes during lectures and you'll do good in the class. Everything is straightforward. Her lectures get long and boring at times but it is an easy A so just show up every day and you will do good.
Teaches math in a simple and straightforward way
Amazing professor
I have no idea why people fail her class. Her class is super straightforward and easy. If you show up to class and listen you should pass. Great professor, her lectures are sometimes boring but are straightforward. I took PreCalc in High School and barely got a C. When I took PreCalc with this professor I never got a grade lower than 95 on my work.
She's a nice and caring teacher. If your late and there's a test she gets annoyed. She gave me a D even though I worked very hard. She could have gave me few extra points so I could have gotten a C.
A calc teacher who is passionate about her subject, offers intuitive reasoning behind the formulas, and is a kind person. Some people don't like her accent because it is hard to understand sometimes. Your grade is reflective of the effort put in.
While she can be a bit difficult to understand sometimes because of her accent, she is not a bad professor. She does her best to explain concepts and also waits for the entire class to understand a subject. However, the material she tests on is a much more difficult version of her example problems. Homework will make good practice and she will help
I would not recommend this prof to anyone. Worst math prof ever :((
No extra credit but if the avg score is too low will curve, super-tough exam much harder than what she talks in class, she just talks the example on the textbook, need to do self-study a lot.
Tests are pretty hard, and average scores tend to be low. Will be dropping. She's alright at lecturing though.
Does not spend adequate time actually teaching and instead just posts powerpoints online. Actively dissuades notetaking and tells people to just read the publisher's slides that she posts. Does not actually explain concepts well, many homework problems are not relevant to the coursework, and cares more about finishing material than understanding.
I took her by looking at her high ratings but man her tests were extremely hard. Worst decision of my life!!
Pros: *Tests and quizzes are exactly from the HW, but with different #s. *She gives 5 minutes of break time. *She reviews problems before giving out quizzes. * Her class is entertaining. Cons: *She will try to convince students to drop out soo many times. *HW Review Day doesn't exist. *Her lecture is sometimes rushed. * Test time to complete.
Prof. Nguyen is a great professor. I took her for calc 101B after not passing it the first time with a different professor. She goes pretty fast through her lectures, but I didn't have a problem picking up on the material because she explains very good. She gives a TON of partial credit and grades more than fair in my opinion.
One of the best professors you can take for Math. Took her for Math 188, Math 101B, and Math 101C. I do not regret a single moment in her class. Professor Nguyen teaches very very well. Amazing lectures and she also teaches you some tricks to solving problems too. Attendance is mandatory, and you should come to class otherwise you won't learn.
Very heavy workload. 1500+ problems per unit for hw sometimes. Don't take unless full-time student. Lectures are very unclear. Style of teaching is circular and convoluted. Be ready to self-study. Will not admit that her teaching is subpar. Spent 4+ hours per day studying to get A+. Did not listen to her lectures at all. Use khan aca in her class.
Do not take this class, she does not help any students and encourages them to drop the class if they are doing bad. She does not give enough time for tests as many students in our class couldn't finish, she is legit clueless. I learned more from looking at a rock then in her class, the class average was a 50% in tests that says something.
As a teacher, she is completely useless. Be ready to self-study everything. You should be good for the tests if you do every homework problem but the homework itself is pretty hard. Overall the tests are hard but fair but she as a teacher is completely useless. If you want to learn in this class your only options are khan academy and youtube.
Do not take this class. Her lectures did not help a single bit, and I had to spend 4+ hrs a day on hw. I used to stay up and attend her lectures but they are more useless than sakura from naruto and that's not a joke. The test is not crazy hard but if u don't show the work she wants u to she will mark points off even if the answer is right.
Professor Nguyen is a well respected lady. Her lectures and her practice problems were very helpful prior to doing her homework assignments and her exams. However, her exams were a bit hard. She will give partial credit if you do the correct steps of the problems. She will drop the lowest quiz grade. Overall, I recommend taking her class.
Professor Nguyen is a really good choice for MATH101A. She makes topics really easy to understand and cares for the students. Homework isn't bad and the quizzes/tests are okay too. Sometimes the tests take too much time though. Honestly a really good professor considering how easy she makes the content.
She is kind, and she explain really good and she is a hard worker. but the test are so heavy and the nice thing that she curves a lot, we had a test and she curved like 14 points. you should be aware of tricky questions. the time is not enough to do 70% of the test so we have to be fast 6 quizzes, 4 tests and final with a drop one quiz. 35, 45,25%
One of my favorite professors EVER! She is literally so nice and is willing to help her students. She's very straightforward with her material. Just do the homework and understand the material. Only downside is that she doesn't use Canvas so it's harder to see all your grades but she's super lenient on grading. Just communicate with her.
Quizzes every other weeks, 4 tests, 1 final. Gives txtbk slides beforehand. Textbook lecture then practice problems. Do homework to pass quizzes/tests. Questions on tests/quiz from past classes/hw or covered concepts. Class average on quiz/tests C with few students reaching A's. Felt like I always didn't have enough time for tests/quiz
Professor Nguyen was a big reason I made it through calculus 1 and 2. She's extremely caring and tries her very best to teach you what needs to be taught (which is difficult stuff) while making it easy to understand. If calculus 2 was easier she'd be the best professor ever. Grade is entirely based off exams though and homework/lectures are a must.
Professor Nguyen is really funny and energetic. She loves math and is passionate about teaching it. However, your whole grade is based on quizzes, tests, and the final. The class averages are around 65% after curving. My advice is to participate, ask questions, and redo notes&hw problems to study. It's not impossible to get an A, but it's hard!
She's a sweet person, and is genuinely passionate about her field. Kudos for that. But there is never enough time for her quizzes or tests. She thought that giving us 1.5hrs was "generous". Any other prof would give us the full period. Bc of that, your grades will suffer if you're not fast enough. Students beware.
Basically a self study class and her tests and quizzes are pretty hard not because of the actual problems but with the fact that she gives barely enough time to finish them.
Just forget taking her class. Her tests/quizzes ask for too much and she gives too little time. She also expects you to do them exactly as she does within the time frame allotted or else she takes off points. She has unreasonable expectations and wants you to "just drop the class" instead of helping you understand the material. Avoid at all costs.
She is such a good teacher. She is very passionate and helps you out a lot if you ask.
Mrs. Ngyuen was a very nice professor with a helpful grading policy but she's all over the place in lectures. Sometimes she'll end up teaching something wrong and not notice until a student points it out. She also has a very thick accent that makes it hard to understand her sometimes.
45% tests, 30% quiz, and 25% final but it was straightforward. Her reviews for each test and quiz tells you what types of questions she will give, and doesn't make her tests/quizzes hard. Curves if average is below 70%. Homework is optional but you should do it as all the test and quiz questions are from there. Class was easier than expected.
Prof. Nguyen is very clear with her expectations and tells you what types of questions will be on tests. She is quick with email and really funny in lectures. HW optional for 101B but you should do it since tests are based off it. Only complaint I have is she oversimplifies a bit, but it didn't hinder my performance. I'd recommend her overall.
Unreasonable number of questions on the exam, and none of us could even finish her exam in the given time. It got so bad that, one time she had to pass back the exam the next class and gave us extra 20 mins to work on it because everyone left at least 3-4 question blank. She would get mad & frustrated when you ask for clarifications.
Curves tests and quizzes, allows index cards as cheat sheets on tests/quizzes. Does allow you to stay back after class and ask questions. Homework optional, but recommended as study material. Lectures are fun, lots of note taking though. Gives partial credit. Would recommend her, you're gonna have to study hard to have a chance at an A though
Update after 2 classes with her-101C harder conceptually than B but easier mathematically. Test avgs ~70%. She was always available for extra support after class. Very helpful and funny. Tests are straightforward and tells you what will be on them. Class is very fast but always willing to go back and explain. Highly recommend!
I would take her for every subject if that was an option. Genuinely tries to make the topics digestible. In a random discord I'm in we compared teachers to take we all agreed she was amazing so if that doesn't say something i don't know what will. If you have a hard time processing accents then that might make stuff harder but personally I didn't.
Definitely a great teacher, she really explains things well, although her accent may be an issue for new English learners. However, she does not give practice exams, rather she tells you what will be on it, but that gets really confusing, so not ideal. Difficult class, easy B, hard A. If you can put in that extra effort to learn, take her.
I never really liked math and never considered myself to have a strong foundation of precalc. However, she explained all steps very well and walks u through it. She gets to the point very easy. It might be hard to understand her accent a bit but that doesnt take away from her amazing lectures. Fair grader. Tests and quizzes are just like HW.
Definitely show up to lectures, she goes over homework and what to expect on quizzes or test. She doesn't require any reading and only uses the textbook for examples in class. She does have an accent but her teaching is still understandable and does a good job explaining how to solve problems.
caring and always stays back to help her students learn. When I couldn't go to her office hours, she let me come after her other classes. 1 extra credit 5 points that can be added to any exam of your choice. You need to study everyday or else you will not get an A as the concepts build onto one another. Fair grader. Comical and makes math fun.
Honestly iconic as a teacher. She had a clear printed schedule for the semester and would only change it upon a unanimous vote. If you listen to her and pay attention you will pass with flying colors. Always willing to help and she's funny. Very interactive and caring. She curves when necessary and is very reasonable. TAKE HER CLASS!!
100% self study everything. She gets annoyed when you ask her questions. And expect the class to be VERY fast paced. Quiz every other week and test between those. Doesn't give a lot of time to finish the quizzes/tests.
Prof. Nguyen is great - she explains concepts clearly and has a fun teaching style. The coursework is challenging, but using resources like the textbook, homework, and study tools like Unstuckstudy can really help you succeed. Overall, it's a tough but rewarding class.
Come to class she goes over what she expects on tests and homework problems. Very lenient grader and gives a lot of partial credit. Funny and was able to keep me awake during a 7:30 AM class when I'm not a morning person. Allows flashcard on tests/quizzes/final. Does quiz and test review before taking them. 30 mins for quiz full class for test
The professor is terrible at explaining lessons, she has very little patience, she moved through the material at a very quick pace and gets frustrated when people ask questions. On the first day she bragged about denying a test retake to a 4.0 gpa student who got sick, talked to the dean about it, and then got denied again bc of the syllabus
The professor has 5 midterms and 5 quizzes through 15 weeks, she is terrible at explaining concepts, gets frustrated if you ask questions, moves through the material quickly, and overall made class self taught. She'll give the broader topics on the exams but will throw curveballs very often ie no trig integrals all semester but she put 3 on the final
She goes over exactly what you need to know during class, review days before tests are very useful. She also wants you to show your work a certain way so attend class and pay attention. Consistently available during office hours
She does care for her students and want them to pass the class. However, her teaching can be quite obnoxious as she does get frustrated when students try ask her questions and will make you feel shameful for even asking in the first place. The class is quite fast paced so be on top of the material at the whole time. Its best not to speak in class.
The lectures are fast at times but are easy to understand as she simplifies the materials and uses practice problems. The homework is easy, so focus on quizzes and tests (she allows flashcards for both). The contents are usually what she goes over in class. Attendance is important and mandatory. She's also very generous with grading tests.
Prof Anh is the best math teacher I've ever taken. Her class is so organized. Her lectures are very understandable and easy but still you need to work on it in order to understand it completely. Her quizzes and tests are fair. She's a good and fair grader, not tough. 100% Recommended class
First of all, she has a beautiful soul. I know some of us may find it difficult to keep up with the class, but it's worth all your efforts. Taking her class is kinda like a double-edged blade. The thing is, difficulty is what wakes up a genius.
This is exactly what I expect from an Introduction to the world of calculus. So basic yet so important, no trick games, all about foundation. Slow and steady, but in order to get a good grade, preparation is the key.
She was super nice and did many practice problems during class to help you learn. Her tests/quizzes are VERY similar to her HW and classwork problems (little to no crazy hard problems). She sometimes makes small mistakes while doing a practice problem in class so at times, it is just the class solving the problem and her writing it on the board.
Professor Anh Nguyen explains concepts well in class. However, there are lots of exams and quizzes compared to other professors, and they weigh very heavily on your grade. But you should be fine if you finish the homework on time.
