I have never had a class that should be so easy yet have a teacher make it so miserable. Its a linear algebra class, not how to prove how math works class!
This class was rediculous. I didnt learn anything beneficial because he was only worried about properties and proofs. He doesnt teach what is important. The material should be so easy but his proofs make the class a struggle.
This man cannot teach. he only answers a very limited amount of questions, and when he does answer questions he only tried to answer them. he doesn't even show up on test day, he gets a substitute to hand out the test. he is a horrible teacher
TOO focused on proofs! Everyone from Chatt. State said this class is a breeze, so I figured it wouldn't be bad, but he makes it hard. Should spend less time on proofs and more on working problems.
i cannot say a lot about him because i dropped his class on the first day, but i have always made good grades in math and i was already lost...he doesnt speak english very clearly
Horrible Teacher! He is too worried about proofs and not the basic concepts of the course. Most of this course could be done using a calculator but no calculator needed here, just proofs.
I think he is a very good teacher
I was told not to take this teacher but if you actually listen to him, the material is relatively easy to learn. Quizzes stink but tests are reasonable and fair. Best math teacher at UTC so far.
has a great sense of humor
always helpful
He was not at all helpful when I asked questions. He also has a VERY strong accent which makes this already difficult class even harder. I would definitely recommend another teacher!
Very Rude! Does not understand you when you when you are asking questions. He interprets the book differently than everyone else but does not teach us how he got the answer. Take someone else! This class should not be this hard.
very hard to understand. please don't take him. it's for your own sanity. if you must take him, please take french first. you will need it.
you can't understand him and he doesn't go over the material very well!! don't take him!
I have always liked math and been pretty good at it, of course I have always had teachers who can speak English fluenty. The whole class never had enough time to complete any quizzes or tests-work fast! Be prepared to teach yourself the content of the class. I do not recommend him.
He is a cool guy. Wear a Clemson shirt on the first day of class and be sure he sees it before he starts the lecture and you're in!! Kinda difficult, but it may have just been the material.
Has an accent, though not as bad as some I've had. I had no problems understanding him. Teaches clearly and is pretty funny. Really heavy on the theory of things, but if you study a little you'll do fine. I'd take him again.
Worst teacher at UTC so far, difficult to understand, no time to finish quizes. Take someone else.
He has a thick accent which can be very hard to understand. He doesn't really explain anything clearly and doesn't give you enough time to finish tests and quizzes. Try not to take him... I don't recommend his class.
He is very hard to understand. No time in class to do any work. His test are very hard. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
His accent has a big affect on understanding the material. Also, what kind of a teacher uses powerpoint to teach math?! He's intimidating and not very lenient. His tests are hard and he gives many pop quizzes. Take someone else!
He is the worst teacher I have had at UTC. His accent makes it impossible to understand what he is saying and he does not take time to make sure that everyone is following him. His tests are very hard. If you care about your GPA do not take this teacher.
he is a little hard to understand. his tests are about two to four chapters behind what he is teaching.
Worst teacher i have ever had! Unhelpful, rude, hard to understand, NO communication skills! I would poke out my eye before i would take another class from him!!!
Defensive. Rude. Unhelpful. Cantankerous. RUN AWAY! This class is a swamp of unfathomable sadness. Be prepared to hate yourself and all those around you. It will lead you to a life of frustration and anxiety. If you ask for help, you will be ridiculed. Do yourself a favor: either drop this class NOW or you will drown slowly in the mir
Definitely NOT a good teacher (who uses power point to teach MATH?!?). If you can teach yourself, you'll be fine, because all the material is in the book. He gives quizzes WAY too much, so don't make the mistake of getting behind in your homework. If I had to do it again I would take someone else.
couldnt pay attention
Horrible: teacher, accent, and listener. RUN AWAY!
literally the worst teacher i have ever had! foriegn so you cant understand him wont answer your questions. doesnt respond to email i highly reccomend nat taking any class he teaches If you have him try as much as possible to get into a different class his notes are all over the place and makes the easiest math problems seem dificult DONT TAKE HIM!
Can be very hard to understand - and I'm good at dealing with accents. Fortunately, this was in his field of study so he was interested. Fortunately, too, the subject is fairly easy... Other than that, a challenging person to take a class from...
not good at all. finds a way to make an easy class very difficult. accent really interferes with trying to understand him. unhelpful at times when you ask questions. gives lots of pop quizzes. spends LOTS of time going over easy example problems in class then putting much harder problems on his tests.
This class taught me to really study. I'm not good at math, I don't really like it all that well, but this professor helped me get though it. He offered to help anyone that came to his classroom, and he did what he said. His accent did interfere a little, but I learned a lot and appreciate his patience and help.
His african accent was horrible. Easy examples in class, test nothing like class problems.
Not a good teacher and not cooperative. I suggest you don't take him unless you speak a different language
very unhelpful and unwilling to help students
Goes over material way too quickly! I got lost several times. Tests are also hard. And he doesn't grade really fair.
OMG! This guy is HORRIBLE! He brought his own children to class!!!! They were very distracting! I did well in the class b/c I taught it to myself - he taught NOTHING HE IS HORRIBLE!!!!
I am a hard worker and studied profusely for every test and was still left in the dark. He teachers from the book, exactly the examples from the book so his teaching is pointless. Even with teaching from the book, his tests go beyond what was taught. Never keeps office hours and doesn't answer questions. DO NOT TAKE 210 FROM EBIEFUNG!!!
Terrible teacher! Unwilling to help students. He says the book doesnt matter, it is what he says that matters, but he only says it once. DO NOT take a class with this teacher. Biggest mistake I ever made.
OMG I was scared to take stats after reading his reviews here. However, I found him to be effective, charming and funny in his teaching. In lectures he followed the book examples closely, which helped w/ studying immensely. Mr. E. annunciates words completely, speaks more proper than most natives, & has a rich vocabulary- sounds kinda Jamaican. Students in my summer class liked him. I think the writings here are sour grapes, due to the hard subject matter. NOTE: He gives limited number of major tests, the second test, and the first one especially, was easy. The rest were hard, so do well on the first couple of test and you should do alright. Many made an A in his class. (not me) :-) Nice man & Teacher.
I have nothing nice to say about this class except for how happy I was when we would sometimes be able to leave 2 minutes early. The tests were impossible and the grading was ridiculous! No partial credit what so ever and if you ask for help, he either makes you feel dumb or attempts to answer it and doesn't get anywhere. DONT TAKE HIM!
Horrible teacher. Is hard to understand because of accent. Is very rude and will not help with simple questions if he's already moved on to a different subject. Doesn't answer questions well. If you take this class, be prepared to teach yourself. but if i were you, i'd save yourself the trouble and WOULDN'T TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM.
This teacher is absolutely ridiculous!!! I tested into calculus and opted to take Math 131 for an easy A just to boost my GPA cause I had a hard schedule.. No!! Not with him I failed his test!! And the only reason I failed is because I didn't work the problems out the way that he did so they were wrong end of discussion he said. Do not take him!!!
The worst teacher on this planet. I failed the class because I didnt work out the problem the way he liked even though I had the answer correct. Even my high school calculus teacher could not do the tests he assigned. He is by far the worst teacher/human being to walk this earth. I wouls rather be taught by hitler! Ebiefung is awful!
three words.GET OUT NOW. I took college algebra as an easy 'A' since I tested into calc 2 and didnt want to take a hard math. It was utterly rediculous. He was unhelpful, rude, and almost the entire class dropped (including myself). Take a different math or take it a different semester if you wind up having to be in class with him.
Dr. Ebiefung taught my College Algebra class. He was very rude and overly cynical to his students. Although I received an A in his class, I dreaded the 50 minutes that I had to endure with him every other day. His English is poor, which wouldn't be a problem if he wouldn't get ticked off when asked to repeat himself. Avoid this man...
makes a rather simple class very hard. african accent is very thick and hard to understand. gives lots of pop quizzes. generally unwilling to answer questions in class; preferring you to visit him during his office hours, where he rarely was there.
this teacher is terrible. He has a very thick accent and writes extremely sloppy. he uses the examples from the book. He also will not help you unless you ask him during class. He does crack jokes every once and a while.
This teacher was terrible, If teaching consists of writing the book on the board then he did his job. No help what so ever, could not grade tests properly. Could not answer questions asked in class. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. We started with 45 students, in the end there were 12 and only two passed with C's.
Terrible teacher. Extremely vague with questions and expects very specific answers. Projects were the most confusing I have ever done. Very thick accent and does little to help students.
I was pretty scared to take him after reading reviews on him; however, my opinion of him is different now. He may seem intimidating at first, but he's actually an alright guy. Just make sure you ask him what he wants on the projects and such if you're not sure. It's not an easy A with him, but it is possible!
God awful teacher doesn't explain assignments and he doesn't explain your questions at all. If you have this class get out of it.
I usually do not write reviews for professors, but this warrants a review. Take any other professor possible. I am not a math wiz however I spent countless hours studying and barely got a D in this class. Take any other professor if possible.
This class was terrible. I have never made an F on any test I have taken in college. This was the first time I have made bad grades in a class. DO NOT take this class with this teacher. His tests were not the same as the sample tests he has you do. He gives multiple choice but there may not be a right answer so it defeats the purpose. Very HARD!!!
The class was not an easy A, but if you actually do your work and study you can pass. He likes when people ask questions in class so if you are confused about something just ask. He was really funny too! I got a B in the class only because I began to relax on my study time.
Alright, to clear things up, he is seriously not that bad! It's college, you're gonna have to study regardless. If you pay attention and STUDY you can pass. I do just enough to get by but a little more effort was put forth in this class. Plus if you don't understand, talk to him and he'll remember that and help you get out of there! Be open-minded!
DO NOT TAKE!!!!! His class is ridiculously hard for a gen ed class. You cannot understand him and he is not helpful during office hours-if you can make them. His tests are over things we don't talk about in class and he wrote his own book so he basically reads to us. First class I've ever been happy to just pass and get it over.
This is the hardest class I have had in my college career so far. He is very difficult to understand and pay attention to. His tests and reviews do not make sense. He takes attendance every day. I have never struggled so much in a math class. He complicates the processes so much and you have to show your work. Avoid at all costs.
Never have been close to failing anything in my entire life until now. thank you..
Hear me out, this teacher should not be a teacher at a university. His solutions to some of his problems are incorrect. He reads from the he has made, and does not teach the material. My class and I have gone to the Math Dean to discuss him and that says a lot. I had a 4.0 last year and will now finish with a C/B so I urge you to take someone else.
LISTEN UP! Since being at this university I can honestly say that he is the worst professor I have ever had! He is very unclear and hard to understand. On top of that you have to buy the book that HE wrote so if you think you can just teach yourself from the book good luck because it is very difficult to follow. BY ALL MEANS, avoid this professor!
By far the worst professor I have ever had at UTC. He urges his students to ask questions but when you do, he is impatient and angry that you do not understand. He is rude to his students, not to mention his study guides ( or lack there of) and tests do not cover material as they were taught. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
DO NOT TAKE EBIEFUNG IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. Linear Alg2200 - He made this class harder than it should have been. Did examples from the book on the board, lightening fast, was snippy when asked questions. Exams have problems you've never seen before. Sloppy writing, hard to understand. Unless you are a math genius, avoid him. Barely passed with a low C
At first, I contemplated dropping out of college because of this class, but I eventually found my footing and got into a routine and it got easier. He has very thick Nigerian accent and sloppy handwriting. Overall, study a lot outside of class and use YouTube to your advantage and you should be fine.
I took AP Calc in high school, so the class was easier for me. Although the tests are somewhat difficult he gives you a chance to redeem yourself (second test grade counts as first and second and third had a curve). Do your homework and expect a quiz every Thursday. If you want help, you will need to go to his office. You can pass just do the work.
I took him for Math 1950 and he was horrible at teaching students who had never taken calculus, most of the people that did good in his class had already taken calculus in high school. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
90 percent of the students failed the first exam. He posted the grades at the front of the class and suggested that we simply "didn't study." There is a serious disconnect with the examples done in class and the expectation of work shown on tests. If you have to take him, write out every step and memorize how to do the proofs.
Of all the stats profs, he's the best. Really clear, hard accent but you get used to it. Lectures are to the point. Do your homework and come to class and youll pass. Would take him again.
Ok I seriously never do these things but I feel for this professor it's needed. If you have him as a professor get out now. However if you don't have a choice listen now and you should be okay. First off the homework and class work do not match up, second if you are having a hard time GO to office hours, he will remember that later.
For stats he was a really good teacher. If you can get past his accent you will be fine. He gives handouts that are very helpful. He is always open for questions during his office hours.
Avoid this professor at all costs. The pop quizzes are pretty tough and the tests are just as challenging. The final exam is near impossible. He will pick the hardest problems to solve on all the tests. He also has a very thick Nigerian accent. Also there were 30 people in the class originally, and only 7 people left by the end of the semester.
Pretty thick accent, hard to read writing. Other than that, I thought he was great. He makes some fairly difficult stuff easy for math dummies like me once you break the language barrier.
His accent is very thick and that makes it hard to understand most of the lectures. Besides that he tries to be very helpful.
About to finish up my summer session with him. I've never had a professor who has cared as much about his students as Dr. Ebiefung. He wants you to do well but he won't just give you an A. He makes himself very available to give help if you need it and even though his accent is strong he does a great job of explaining things. Would highly reccomend
Dr. Ebiefung is extremely caring, and very kind. His tests can be a bit difficult at times, but he does give study guides, though they are a bit too broad at times. Cal 3 is no easy subject, so work is needed, but he makes it much easier than it could be.
I would recommend the online section of the class. There were few assignments outside the online homework, and tests were overall pretty similar (in some parts identical) to practice tests. The course does cost a bit more than the traditional face-to-face section.
Dr. Ebiefung gave feedback on nearly every assignment which is rare for an online class. There were plenty of opportunities for extra credit, and he answered any questions quickly and very well. Allot your time correctly and this is a very easy class.
Do not take him. Just don't. He doesnt know what he is doing and my class is actually trying to get him fired because of how ridiculous he is. that's all.
Lectures are just reading from the book fluff and all, lots and lots of homework. No calculators or formulas on tests that about require them. One of the worst professors I've ever had
This is the worst professor I have had in my college career by far. I was scammed by taking this class. Never in my life have I wanted my money back for a college course, until now. He never responded to any email I sent, made the final exam overly difficult during COVID 19 when few students had access to printers or scanners.
I don't think he knew what he was doing for the tests. He put out confusing info on the location of the exams. One message says on canvas another WebAssign. He did it every time. The final exam, he completely forgot the exam. I started the exam, but there was nothing to do and 90 min passed before he fixed it. He played it off on the students.
Im not done dragging him. Our whole class agreed to complain about him and try to get him removed from the department. He doesnt teach. Idk what else you need to hear. If you dont already love math and plan on sucking maths chunky chode for a living DONT TAKE HIM YOU WILL LEARN NOTHING.
I took Linear algebra from him. He gets wayy too specific at certain parts and writes homeworks and tests like we are math wizards while his lectures are reading the textbook. If you read the txtbook and can understand it, you will be alright. Just maybe don't forget chegg exists bc it's probably a better teacher. Was generous towards the end grade
It's a hard class but just ask questions and sit up front, he genuinely cares about making sure you understand. He moves fast but tells you when something will be on the test and posts the slides. Study, go to office hours if you need to, pay attention. He does lots of practice problems. You just have to accept that the material requires effort.
Do not take him unless you want to pay for a class only to teach yourself. He uses power-points to teach math, zooms through the material, and does not finish problems because "you should know how to do it". I understand this is a difficult class, but he only makes it worse. Save yourself the headache. I regret taking him.
AWFUL professor. AVOID. He started to try somewhat towards the end of this semester but that is probably because everyone is failing and he is going to lose his job. Lost almost 2/3 of our class throughout the semester because of him. Heavy accent, and awful professor.
I as well as several others are probably going to end up retaking this course. He is hard to understand because of his accent and when you ask a question, he glazes over it and moves right along leaving you more confused when you started. The homework is also a lot. His study guides arent helpful. DO NOT TAKE HIM TAKE LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE
Terrible lectures and slides - you're better off reading the textbook and watching external videos. Harsh grading for small mistakes on exams. Online practice work is a waste of time and money. Doesn't respond to emails quickly. Avoid. Find literally anyone else. Chances are they will want you to learn and engage more than this guy does.
TAKE THIS CLASS WITH LITERALLY ANYONE ELSE
Linear algebra isn't the easiest class, but I did well with just his lectures and no need for the textbook. And he was always willing to help and answer questions.
Dr. Ebiefung was great. He just reads off of PowerPoints, but if you follow along with the examples you will do well. He gives pop quizzes, but towards the end of the semester he gives take home quizzes and starts to tell when they will be. 2 instances of extra credit. I seriously enjoyed his linear algebra class. Put in effort and you wont regret
Professor Ebiefung is one of my favorite professors. He is kind and has a really good and relaxed vibe, plus he is hilarious. He wants everyone to do well, and tries to make that happen. He teaches well, but the material is difficult and he can't study for you. Don't give him a bad rating because you are lazy. We love Ebiefung.
Linear Algebra with Dr. Ebiefung was great! Attendance isn't mandatory, but the examples worked out in class are very helpful so I do recommend showing up for every class as there are also pop quizzes. He is a strict grader but he also provided opportunities for extra credit. He was a really nice guy and wants to see you succeed.
Dr. Ebiefung is great. He cares about your success and will go way further out of his way than any professor I have had. Attend class take notes and review practice tests and group homework and you will do very well. Offers a ton of extra credit and opportunities for review. Tests are very fair medium amount of homework nothings crazy.
Avoid at all costs
Linear Algebra with Professor Ebiefung is challenging but doable. The lectures can be dry, so I found the textbook and Unstuck study really helpful for preparing. Attend class to get the examples, and use extra credit to boost your grade.
Avoid and take in another semester if this is the only option
Do not take him. Attendance is mandatory because of random pop quizzes, but you will not learn anything during the lectures. He also embarrasses and picks on students constantly, ESPECIALLY females. Very disrespectful toward his students.
Ebiefung has a very traditional style of teaching, but he's not a "bad" professor by any means. Lecture is dry and he gives pop quizzes, but he's not unintelligible and he sets very clear expectations for exams. Just be sure to use resources outside of class to aid your understanding.
