He is a good professor, but tests are very detailed and hard
Datt is a good man, but his teaching style didn't appeal to me as a student. Your grade is dependent on how you do on 4 exams. No homework or anything. He does give extra credit here and there. The exams cover 4+ long chapters so its so heavy, and the final is cumulative. There's SO much to memorize and his thick accent is hard to understand.
Datt is a very sassy & stubborn man, but once you get to know his teaching style, the class is pretty easy. Record his lectures because he doesn't post the slides, but only grades are exams and he tells you exactly what will be on them. Material comes from slides and the textbook, but he will tell you what specific pages to study. Use quizlets!
All he does is tell you what to memorize from the textbook, so don't take him if you want to learn microbio. He requires that you have the textbook during class, so you gotta get that. He is arrogant, strict about when to ask questions, and doesn't care about what grade everyone gets. He does curve slightly though, but only to gas himself up more.
He is a HUGE stickler for attendance. If you are late you will not be counted! No homework, only the exams, and because of covid it is lockdown browser with webcam.
Hes definitely not a bad teacher. Its more so they way he sets up his class. You HAVE to read what he tells you in the text book. Dont just rely on the notes he gives you. Read those sections.I got a bad grade on a test and he met with me and we figured it out. Kind person. Its mainly just a lot of studying. Do not wait to start looking it over
Datt was the most difficult professor I have ever had. He teaches directly from the textbook and does not provide any sort of outline or study guide for exams. He reviews what you need to know for each exam during lectures, but only briefly so you basically end up teaching yourself all of the information. He curves slightly, but it's not worth it.
Professor Data is an extremely challenging professor. He prepares you well for upper division, but it is almost impossible to make an A in his classes. I had him both semesters freshman year, absolutely would not recommend.
Attendance is mandatory, and you definitely need a textbook. He has a very different teaching style that I didn't like. You'd be better off muting the computer and reading the textbook yourself. As a freshman entry class, it was terrible-no homework assignments to boost your grade. Only 3 exams and a final that is cumulative. Worst prof, stay away.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! I studied every night made a study guide for the exams and flashcards and I still failed almost every exam. He is an awful teacher and does not care if you fail his class. I asked a question in his class and he embarrassed me in front of the whole class. He just marks pages to know in your book and expects you to know it all
Most boring class, but if you pay attention to the things you have to study you will be okay on the test. He gives extra credit which is nice, but all 4 exams are on lockdown and must be taken during the class time.
Very boring, but if you listen to the things he says will be on the test you will be fine. He gives like 6 extra credit points each test, but all are on lockdown and during the time of the class.
This man was great and hilarious but his class was insanely hard for no reason. It is a lot of reading straight from the book and you are only graded on four tests including your final. Some people do really well with his teaching but I personally did not. Get that textbook long before the class starts because he is going to want you to be ahead!
Datt was honestly not as bad as the reviews lead on. Remember to always have your textbook, take notes in the book. He tells you what he expects you to know through the textbook! I made quizlets and study guides for all exams, plus if he is feeling generous he would always give us extra credit. If you pay attention in class, study, you will dofine
Prof. Datt was probably the worst teacher I have ever had. He reads straight from the textbook, making it so hard to comprehend what is going on. The only grades in the grade book are the test taken throughout the course, so if you are a bad test taker then I would not recommend him. He also doesn't create study guides or anything on the test.
Professor Datt has barely any resources for students to study or go off of during lectures. During class, he goes through pictures of figures and diagrams from the textbook. He has no powerpoint slides to go off of, if you study everything he tells you to, its never enough. He is also very hard to understand during lectures.
It's a hard class, but extremely possible (B, B+, even A). You know exactly what all you'll need to know for the exams, but it's a lot to study (a lot, a lot). Be prepared to study at least a week in advance, up to three-four hours a day. It can be overwhelming at 1st, but you get used to his teaching style within two weeks. You got this!
Prof. Datt is known to be a hard teacher going into his class. His tests consist of figures/charts from the textbook, his lecture notes, and ppt slides. If you have to take him I highly recommend reaching out to him to go over tests because he will remember you and help you out. He wound up rounding me to pass, and always gave point back on tests
Datt was the hardest teacher I have had in my life. I am a straight A student. The only reason I passed the class was because he gave us extra credit. I studied for hours every day and still couldn't do well on any of the four tests. The only grades are four tests. He yells at students a lot for his own microphone and internet connectivity issues.
Datt is very smart, but there's a thick language barrier, he's very unforgiving and never wrong, and he's NOT trying to make sure you have a "general" understanding... he will pick the SMALLEST details to put on exams, and that's what upset me. I learned a lot, but I feel like my C grade represented the most insignificant details about micro.
Datt is not as bad as a lot of people lead on. Don't get me wrong, his class was definitely hard, but I was expecting much worse. He lays out exactly what he wants you to know from the textbook. It is a lot of information. However, I made quizlets and averaged a B on every test except the final. He did give us a lot of extra credit points :)
Professor Datt has continuous technology issues, especially with online class. The microphone is difficult to hear and his slides are blurry. He also can be difficult to understand and is unapproachable. There are only 4 grades (tests) for the entire semester, and they are extremely specific and difficult. I am an all A student who barely passed.
I would strongly advise people to not take Datt. His online lectures are confusing, his accent is strong and the audio is bad to where you can not understand what he is saying. He does not record lectures, he does not provide notes, and the only grades are exams. TEXTBOOK HEAVY. I am an A student who STRUGGLED to receive a decent B.
Datt is not as awful as people say. I will say he is VERY hard to understand due to his accent and the online format. I have never made a C in a class in my life. I studied a lot, but I still do not understand how he picked his exam questions. My advice is to make quizlets for every chapter based of the textbook and his notes. STUDY STUDY STUDY
All in all, he's not the worst teacher at UofSC. The material isn't hard, but he expects you to know so much information for each exam. He only puts 4 grades in the gradebook, so be sure to study hard and the textbook will be your best friend in this class. Highlight EVERYTHING he mentions, it'll be on the test. *Uses Lockdown*
Like the other ratings say, Datt is a tough professor, mainly because of his accent and teaching style. It isnt impossible to receive and A in this class though. If you write down what he says and study that and the textbook heavily youll be ok. Datt definitely cares about his students and wants to give extra credit. He also can be really funny.
This class is hard! I took Datt for both BIO243 and BIO244. He gives 4 exams and those are the only assignments assigned. They are definitely hard tests but if you attend the lecturers and study hard you will be fine. He also gives extra credit and additional extra credit for assignments that are not mandatory. He is also very sweet and nice.
I have taken Datt for Honors A&P I and II, and if you know how to study and are willing to memorize (it is anatomy after all), you will be fine. He usually offers 4-6 extra credit points on exams. For A&P II, he let us drop one exam. Makes lots of jokes. If you are willing to work, you will learn a lot.
I had Professor Datt for Biology 243 and 244. He is a very kind man, his classes cover a lot of material, and you have to really prepare for the tests. He gives lots of extra credit, and for 244 gave extra credit writing assignments also.
Datt is a tough professor and teaches by the textbook word-for-word but if you study gradually up until the exam date you should be fine! If you don't want to work for a grade or study often I would not recommend him. He does give lots of extra points/credit on every exam. It takes a little bit to adjust but he's nice and will look out for you!
The exams are HARD. Definitely a learning curve so start studying early. His lectures are boring, but the material is not hard to understand. The textbook and Crash Course will become your best friend. Your grade is made up of only 3 exams (you take 4 but lowest is dropped) and he is very fair about giving extra credit, he want students to learn.
Datt is a HARD prof and online makes it harder. The class is taught w pics from the book and lectures arent recorded. Even w excessive studying the tests are impossible and its hard to figure out where the questions come from. Im an A student who struggled for a B, so be wary. If you don't need an honors cred and don't have time this isnt for you.
Don't be scared of this class. If you put in the proper effort to study for the exams, you'll be fine. There are 3 exams and a final(all MC)- questions come straight from his handouts and the images he shows in lecture (many are different from the textbook). There's no homework (all lectures), and he curves each exam by 4-6 points.
Honestly not a good professor when it comes to teaching but he is very nice. Only grades are 4 exams. His exams are very hard and all straight from the textbook. Also not big picture stuff, it is always about the smallest things that he grades for. The one bonus is he will almost always give 10+ extra credit points an every exam.
Dr. Datt is very straightforward with testing material as he will go slide by slide telling you what will or won't be on the exam. Yes, it is a lot of material that you need to memorize, but he tells you exactly what you need to study. Make sure to study his slides ahead of time and you'll be fine. His exams are all multiple choice!!
I did really poorly in this course, but he provided a lot of extra credit and points. He he cares about his students and wants every person to pass, but his lecutes can be difficult to follow. Before each exam he ensures to include a study day and a study review before the test.
Im a straight A student and datt ruined my gpa. He is unfriendly and doesnt allow you to take notes or ask questions. I studied so hard just to fail every test.
Datt would be a much better teacher without an accent. His Indian accent is so strong that I don't understand anything he talks about. I am left to teach myself from pictures of slides and reading my textbook. You will only pass if you put in the effort to teach yourself of if you're great at understanding strong accents.
Doesn't let you take notes, you absolutely need the textbook, he's such a strange teacher it's so hard to study for his exams cause there's so much material on each. He does always curve the exams and tells you what's on it generally but i still do bad on every exam.
DO NOT TAKE DATT. I had a 5.0 GPA in high school and am barely passing this class. The only graded work is the 4 exams you have to take. In terms of lecture, he takes pictures from the textbook and says learn this. Also, he has a thick accent so its impossible to understand him. DROP THIS CLASS
Honestly I wouldn't recommend this class at all. While Datt is a friendly guy, he's just not a good professor. His lectures are long and boring and consist of him just putting photos up on the board and telling you to know everything in the picture. No explanations. His tests are pretty hard, but he does allow you to ask questions/ gives E.C.
I love Dr. Datt! Don't let other people scare you away from taking his class. I have learned so much from him, and if you are willing to put in the work, you will be successful! My best advice is to pay attention during lectures, study his notes, and read the textbook. Plus he curves his exams and gives extra credit!
You need to read the whole textbook. The test are extremely hard
DROP THIS CLASS IMMEDIATELY! Very hard to understand his accent and very unclear with what you need to study for the exams. He has you study all this material and none of it is on the exams. He gives extra credit options, but they take you days to complete. Horrible teacher. Horrible.
Although many people don't like him as a professor because he can be strict in the classroom. All the information you need for the tests is explicitly given to you. As long as you listen, ask questions if needed and attend the lectures in person or over black board collaborate you will do well! He also holds review sessions!!!
Very nice guy!! He does offer lots of extra credit AND curves on every exam. BUT: only exams. You MUST read over the notes and chapters. Questions are mostly specific, not general. Bottom line: hard class, but he cares and wants his students to pass his class.
BUY UR OWN TEXT BOOK TO WRITE IN! hes very straight forward with material and goes over it for each exam so you know what to study. only 4 exams. one is dropped. exams are average-hard difficulty but are exactly what he says will be on them. NOW GIVES EXTRA CREDIT/ POINTS BACK FOR FIRST 3 EXAMS. if you put forth the effort to study YOU WILL DO WELL
He gives long boring lectures where he just tells you the page numbers that are on the test, and he is usually wrong. The grade is determined by 3 exams. His extra credit assignments are 6-page papers 6 points. He is not a good person at all. He made me take an exam during a holiday while I was fasting. You may succeed, but you will be miserable.
The only grades are four exams and the lowest gets dropped. He does offer extra credit after each exam but prepare to work hard for those extra credit points. There aren't notes per se, you sit there screenshooting his blackboard session the whole class. Very confusing, think accent so he is hard to understand. You will end up teaching yourself.
Dr. Datt is very kind and understanding, if you are sick he will not penalize you for skipping class. He gives LOTS of extra credit and curves tests. As long as you put in the work you will do fine in this class. However, if you don't have good study habits I wouldn't recommend his class. Otherwise he is great! I'm taking him again for 244.
I personally would avoid taking this class if possible. It's not the end of the world if you end up in his class but you will definitely need the text book because you will be teaching yourself. Entire grade is based on 4 exams, drops the lowest one, usually adds a 5 point curve, and offers extra credit. Hard to understand, just tells page #s.
I will say he gives extra credit and curves his exams by about 6 points, but this class IS HARD. Textbook is mandatory, you will fail if you do not have the textbook. His accent is hard to understand but he uses a microphone. NO homework NO quizzes, just 3 exams. Exams are all multiple choice but notes are mainly pictures. You will teach yourself.
Dr. Datt is very nice & he knows the material. He does have a very thick accent but he uses a microphone. Sit closer to him and you will do better. He drops your lowest test grade and gives tons of extra credit. There is no homework, no quizzes. His lectures are long & he will give you page numbers to study + handouts - really focus on these!!
I had Professor Datt for BIO243, 244, and 250, and he is a very good professor. Your grade is based off of only tests, but he provides many extra credit opportunities, and drops the lowest exam grade. If you pay attention in class you will do very well!!!
Has a thick accent, but you will get used to it. He tells jokes frequently, absolutely hilarious. W of Professor, 10/10 would take again.
Do not take. This class will make you regret majoring in nursing... Only 3 exam grades determine your grade and they are nearly impossible to do well on.
The tests can be difficult but the teacher tells you everything that you need to know so it can be an easy A if you just study. He drops one test and you only take 4 so if you do well on a couple then you have room to mess up on a test. Additionally, he gave us 10-12 points of extra credit almost every test making it easier to get an A.
A lot of people don't like Datt, but I personally liked him a lot. All you really have to do is mark down the pages he tells you to, read them, make a quizlet and study and you will be fine! He gives curves and extra credit as well! . His curves and extra credit can bring you 1-2 letter grades up. There are 4 exam in total and one is dropped.
I am going to be completely honest, I usually am very good at biology and did well in it in high school. But, when I took Professor Datt's class I did not do well at all. He has a very heavy accent that made it extremely hard to understand what he was saying and he only tells you page numbers, there is no actual teaching. I wouldn't take at all.
You gotta work for it. Tests dont have any trick questions or questions that could be multiple answers. Its a matter of if you know it. Requires lots of study time outside of class. You have to read every single page of the book he tells you to. Gives LOTS of extra credit. Overall not bad. You can do it!! MAKES QUIZLETS. Tests are VERY specific.
this was the worst professor ive ever had, whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Despite the bad reviews. Dr. Datt has loosened up this past school year. His class is comprised of 4 tests, 50 MC, with your lowest one getting dropped. He offers TONs of extra credit which will typically boost my test score a letter grade. Although his lectures can be overwhelming, he is clear on what will and will not be on the exam.
Despite what some of these reviews say, Datt really isn't that bad of a professor. He curves every test and gives TONS of extra credit. He has a thick accent and may seem intimidating at first but he's always willing to answer questions and repeat himself so don't be scared! Drops a test so just study hard and you'll be fine, taking 244H with him
Dr Datt is an amazing anatomy professor. If he doesn't know it, I promise that no one does. He really does want students to understand and do well. I had him for both A&P 1 and 2 Honors. No reading/homework, but you have to memorize the slides. There are three exams with some extra credit. He'll tell you what to study, you just have to study it!
Don't listen to the good reviews he is awful. Strictly learning from the textbook and in class he doesnt teach and just points to pages in the book and says know this. Pretty much had to teach myself. Only plus is that he curves everything (because everyone does horribly) and he gives extra credit assignments too. rlly wouldn't reccomend.
Dr Datt is an amazing professor. If you want to get an A in his class, you will need to study a lot. He gives out a lot of extra credit.
He uses the images on the board to teach but the images are never on the exam. There is also a language barrier so it is hard to understand him and hard to follow due to zero organization. I would highly recommend not taking his course with him. The only reason why I did well was that I had taken anatomy in high school so I knew what was going on.
i dont know why people are so mean in the reviews tbh, i took datt and hes super sweet and tells you exactly what to study for his exams, plus you drop the lowest one. he usually raises his exams by 20 points in both curve/extra credit which prepares you for the next one, for example i got a 60 on an exam and it ended up being an 80. we LOVE datt
Datt is not good at explaining concepts and doesn't really teach at all. He gives you page numbers in the textbook to study. He tells you exactly what to study for the exams. Grade is entirely exam based with 4 exams but he gives TONS of extra credit. This is just to make up for lack of teaching though but it helps your GPA.
Dr. Datt is an old school professor: You receive the grade you earn. He gives you a chance after each test to bring up your grade two letter grades (one letter grade is a curve and the other is EC). Honestly, I hate reading paragraphs. He tells you what images to learn/memorize. He basically made me put in very little effort to get an A.
Dr. Datt provides so much extra credit and will curve the exams. Attendance is not mandatory but his lectures are super helpful. He provides you with all the notes/information you will need for the exam. If I would've put more effort I could've easily gotten an A. Datt is a very caring professor as well, I recommend him!!
Professor Datt is often misunderstood, if you have zero desire to study for his class then do not take his course. However, if you are good at studying and go to class often you will do well. He has good notes but you will need to study for exam. A very funny man who cares about your success!
Everyone fails tests but he gives so much extra credit that it is not too hard to get a decent grade, but because of failing tests it is extremely hard to learn anything. He does not teach during lecture, just reads of slides that are difficult to understand because of his editing on them.
He genuinely cares about students and wants you to do well by giving extra credit/adjustments to tests. A LOT of work for four exams (drops one) but if you study well enough, you will be fine.
He is a kind guy and tries his best to boost our grades when needed by giving extra credit. Very textbook and lecture heavy but as long as you come to the class and take notes you will be fine. Make sure you go to the review day before the exam because he tells you exactly what will be on the exam.
Professor Datt cares for his students. It is important to come to class two classes before so that you can get the information you need to review, and he gives a study day the class before exams. He is very eager to answer all questions- put in the time to study what he tells you to get an A. Very kind man, and you will get adjusted to the accent.
Datt's class only has three exams and the final, but he gives tons of extra credit points. He is very funny and kind, BUT his class requires good preparation for the exams. Attendance is optional but you need to come to class. He does not stream all the necessary information. If you study and come to class you'll be fine, but it is challenging.
Datt has gotten some really bad reviews but if you know how to study, you can do well. He is straightforward about what is on each exam. He is really funny and he really cares. He gives extra credit opportunities and gives adjustments to each exam. If you put in the effort he will help you succeed.
Datt, at his core, is a good professor. He is difficult, and you have to study and work for the grade, but he helps you out A LOT. Pay attention, attend lecture, and take notes. It's not an easy A, but if you work for it, you can get it. When he tells you what's on the test, write it down and the page numbers and study! You'll be fine.
Professor Datt was the best teacher ever! He does have an accent but you get use to it. He genuinely cares about how you do in his class and always is clear about exactly what is on his exams as long as you show up for class. He gives lots of extra credit assignments and very funny, I recommend taking his class. Do not listen to the bad reviews!
Datt is awesome no matter what people say. His accent is a little difficult to understand but you get use to it. Do not take this class if youre going to be lazy and not study or go to class. He gives you exactly what will be on the test in his lectures. He also gives A LOT of extra credit oppurtunites.
Dr. Datt cares a lot about his students! Even if you don't do well on the exams, you get tons of extra credit and if you spend some time studying, it is not that complex. Takes a lot of work, but the class is fun and he likes to tell stories.
Dr. Datt is great. His class is not necessarily easy but he wants his students to succeed and tries to help narrow down what you need to know for exams. I feel like I learn a lot in his class and will be taking him again.
Dr. Datt is a great guy who shows he cares a lot about students succeeding in his class by providing extra credit opportunities and dropping the lowest exam grade. He is also hilarious and makes the whole class laugh every period whether he means to or not. You have to adjust to his teaching style, but he is very clear about what is on the exam.
Dr. Datt is one of the best professors I have had here. He genuinely cares about his students and always does what he can to help you out. You definitely have to put in the work, but he tells you EXACTLY what to study and never throws you a curve ball. Loads of extra credit and truly a very caring and funny man. I learned so much in this class.
His lectures are based off of slideshows and he tells you exactly what will and won't be on his exams. As long as you study, you will do fine. He also gives a lot of extra credit.
I really enjoyed Dr. Datt's class and he was very generous in terms of grading. He makes it very clear what is on the test and gives many opportunities for extra credit. You look at a lot of powerpoints and just need to take good notes. I found it helpful to try and formulate his notes into test-like question in quizlet to prepare for the exam.
Datt is a great teacher who has a very different teaching style then most professors but once you adjust it is not bad. There are only 4 tests a semester with the lowest one dropped. He gives a ton of extra credit and is very transparent about grading. A ton of material and tests are very specific but if you start studying early you will be fine.
Dr. Datt gets more hate than he should! He really wants you to do well in this class. He offers plenty of extra credit to boost your grade.
Dr. Datt is a very caring man who gives A LOT of extra credit. Expect to do a lot of studying on your own, but he gives you exactly what you need to succeed. There are four exams (including the final) but he drops your lowest. Don't be afraid to ask questions and go to class even though it isn't mandatory. He wants you to succeed!
Dr. Datt's class is based off only exams, but he really wants his students to do well and gives many opportunities for credit to make up for a bad grade. He is personable and funny also.
Your grade in his class is ONLY based on exams. These exams are ONLY based on the textbook. We are ending the year with only 3 exams. Mess up one and your screwed. He is very clear about what pages of the textbook will be on the exam, however if you do not learn well from only a textbook I wouldn't recommend this class.
Datt's class was challenging for me at 1st, and you have to put in the effort to get an A. After meeting with Datt to go over the 1st exams, got a high A on the last exam. Datt will also give many extra credits and do them!!! Despite what the other reviews may state, he is actually a caring person and wants to make the class laugh with his jokes.
- test heavy. - you will teach yourself. - you'd better be good at teaching yourself. - does his best to make you laugh. - is a good person, reminds me of my grandpa, will have technology issues, will be thoroughly confused.
Gave us many extra credit opportunities! He drops the lowest exam! Very clear about what to study/read.
very generous with extra credit and drops the lowest exam!
gives adjustments, gives extra credit point assignments, students get involved in the conversation.
Professor Datt was an overall very good teacher! I enjoyed his lectures because he included jokes, was willing to go over material as much as we needed, and always encouraged us to ask questions! I was very thankful for the many extra credit assignments he gave us to go towards our exam grades and the points he added to each exam based.
He was a great professor and I thoroughly enjoyed having him. His exams can be hard but if you put the work in and do the extra credit assignments you'll be fine. He also curves a bunch and is super awesome if you have any questions its easy to ask him! I enjoyed his class and him as a teacher. Definitely use the textbook a lot!
Prof. Datt is a really good professor, and he really wants what is best for his students. He gives lots of extra credit, so even if you don't do good on an exam most times it can bump your grade up a whole letter grade. To me I found it hard because Its a lot directly from the textbook. He also is a funny guy when listening to him in lecture.
The class involves a lot of studying. You have to look at the textbook a lot but it does overall help you. He adds extra credit opportunities and gives out curves. If you want to pass his class you have to want it because the material is there you just have to apply yourself.
This course is graded on 4 exams total. It is lecture heavy and you must study on your own. Dr. Datt encourages that you ask questions, because he wants his students to do well. He gives plenty of extra credit, and drops one exam grade. He gives endless opportunities for your to succeed.
Datt is definitely a good teacher. He assigns a lot of extra credit assignments and wants his students to do well. if you study hard and do the extra credit you will pass.
Datt's a good professor you just have to put the work in. you will usually always make an A or B with his curve and extra credit.
Dr.Datt is a great professor. He does 4 exams including the final but drops the lowest. My class specifically has curved every exam by 8-10 points and also gives extra credit on top of that, up to 10-12 points on top of what you got with the curve. I would really recommend taking him, but make sure you study because it's a difficult course.
Dr Datt is a very caring professor and allows for extra credit assignments. He tells you what is going to be on the exams so that you know what to study for. However, do not miss his class, he goes over a lot in one period so you don't want to skip. The class is lecture heavy. Make sure you study and use the textbook or else you'll struggle.
He tells you exactly what sections are on the test but he only gives an overview of the content during lecture, so you have to find a way to teach yourself the in-depth material from the textbook. He's sweet, funny, and wants his students to succeed. He curves each test and gives a lot of extra credit but you still have to do decent on the exams.
This class was so easy to take because of how Professor Datt taught us throughout the semester. His lectures are clear to understand and review for the exams for; and he always give us a review on what topics are going to be on the exams. He continues to give us extra credit assignments and also give us extra points on our exam grades as well.
Although I do not love the way that Datt teaches, he truly wants his students to succeed. He is a sweet man and gives lots of extra credit opportunities. Sit in the front and participate and he will take notice. I got a D on the first exam and was heartbroken, but was able to get an A in the class!
Although you only have 4 Tests that will make up your grade, he ends up dropping the lowest test grade, and gives multiple opportunities for "adjustment." He is super funny, and just ask that you participate. Coming to class will help you so much, rather than just joining online. I would totally take him again!
Datt is so funny and caring. Anatomy is a tough course, but he really wants his students to succeed. He is very clear on what will be on the exams and offers a lot of extra credit. Start studying early and go to class and an A is very attainable. I really enjoyed going to this class.
Dr. Dat is an okay professor. He really just reads from PowerPoints and gives you page numbers with the exact same information. Just be prepared to pretty much teach yourself. He does offer a lot of extra credit and grade curves. His class is perfect if you prefer to teach yourself and learn on your own. He is very lecture heavy. Just study, please
I did not enjoy taking this class whatsoever. He is very hard to understand and you have to take lots and lots of notes but he does not let you actually write things down during his lectures. He does not really teach and will just give you pages out of a textbook. 100% do not recommend.
While I believe he means well, he is not the best professor. His material is all on slides that he just reads off of and most of the material is diagrams. While attendance s not mandatory it does benefit you to attend because he does provide you with what exactly will be on the exam. Although that does not seem to help much.
I did not like Dr. Datt at all. He is a really nice man, but his lectures are boring and he takes random things from the textbook. The only good thing about this class is that he tells you exactly what to study for exams, but you have to read the textbook and memorize lots of tables of info for exams. I would skip him if you want to actually learn.
If you do not want to teach yourself, don't take this class. Class is lecture heavy & he gives you page numbers to study from in the textbook. Grades are based on four exams & extra credit is provided but it involves writing 3-4 pages of single-spaced essays about material learned in the class. He's funny & cares for his students, but not for me.
Personally, I like Dr Datt. He teaches straight out of the textbook but lets you know exactly what to expect on exams and has review session class prior exam. No homework or quizzes just exams, lowest exam grade gets dropped at the end of the semester. He is funny and I like listening to him talk. Take Datt if you have the chance!
Dr. Datt was okay. There are 4 exams, 3 during the semester, and the final. He drops the lowest test but they are fairly difficult and require a lot of studying if you want to do well. He has a strong accent which can be difficult to understand. He gives good extra credit though, they're a lot of work but very helpful for the next chapters.
Dr. Datt is a great and caring professor. Yes, his class is hard and will be a challenging, but if you keep up with the material you will do well. He also encourages student's to ask questions and offers extra credit assignments after each test. His sense of humor will make class more interesting and pass by quickly.
Horrible professor. You have to teach yourself. Lectures are highly confusing and unhelpful. The only reason I passed this class was because he gave extra credit because everyone does so bad on the exams.
Professor Datt covers a lot of material, however he makes sure to tell you which topics will be covered in the test. He also gives additional credit points, so come to class because he will occasionally raise your grade if you contribute and show up.
Lecture heavy and teaches off of slides. Tells you exactly what is on the test, you just have to be willing to study.
Dr. Datt makes it clear what will be on the exams, and provides a text book and lecture notes with all of the necessary information. He wants his students to get an A, and most students do.
Dr. Datt truly wants his students to succeed and often gives extra credit assignments after exams. His class is not necessarily easy but he tries to help make the class less stressful. I have taken multiple classes with Dr. Datt and have thoroughly enjoyed his classes and appreciate how much he wants his students to do well.
Gives lots of extra credit opportunities (extra credit assignment after exams and questions asked in class). The review days are very clear on what to expect for the test along with clearing up any misunderstandings of the material, and makes sure to go through the difficult concepts. He's also humorous in class and keeps a light-hearted atmosphere
Professor Datt provides lots of material, but it is available to download so you can take notes on it during class. He usually has three tests and then a final, which you are not required to take if you are happy with your grade. He also offers lots of extra credit through writing assignments to help boost your grade. Overall a great professor!
Easy to get a good grade as long as you study in your own time on top of the lecture. Use all the material provided and pay attention to what he says you need to know and focus studying on that. There are 4 exams and no other grades, but if you study for each one and do well on the first three you do not have to take a final.
Dr. Datt wants all of his students to do well. He makes it clear what you need to focus on and often gives extra credit assignments after exams. His classes are not necessarily easy, you need to be willing to study but he tries to make the class less stressful. I have enjoyed the classes I have taken with Dr. Datt.
The classes are all lectures based on notes slides. It is a lot of studying and uses the textbook, but Dr. Datt makes it clear what is on the exams. Grades are based off of 3 exams and a final, but your lowest grade is dropped, so the final is optional. He also gives a lot of extra credit and really cares for his students and is funny.
The class is challenging, so it is important that you spend a lot of time reviewing the material he provides. Everything on the tests is either from his notes or the textbook. You'll know exactly what he will be testing on and he offers many extra credit opportunities after each exam. If you want a good grade you have to be willing to work hard.
Grades are from exams, but he legitimately tells you what to study, and if you get a C on the exams he usually gives enough extra credit to get to a high B or an A.
Is concerned about student's understanding of material, especially on topics that are on the NCLEX exam. Very funny, entertaining, and engaging with his students. Gives opportunities for extra points!
He gives extra credit and if you study you will get an A or B
Good things happen in this class!!! take him
Attend lecture because he tells you specifically what to know for exams. Tests are not hard if you study/know material. Curves exams and offers extra credit, so exam grades can go up anywhere between five to fifteen points!
Professor Datt wants his students to succeed and always gives us extra credit. He gives great exam reviews before each test that prepare everyone for exactly what is going to be on the exam. He also makes lecture fun and interesting.
Professor Datt is an amazing teacher as well as he cares about each and everyone of his students and their success in his class.
Professor Datt is one of the only classes I don't mind going to. A lot of people warned me about taking him so I was scared to take him but I've only excelled in his class. Yes, it's lecture heavy and yes he has an accent but he will repeat anything you ask him to because he actually wants you to learn and be passionate about his class.
Cool professor, no homework. Attendance isn't mandatory but studying a lot is necessary, he tells you what to study exactly for the test so not difficult to manage time. I would take him.
He only grades based on exam performance so make sure to study. He's pretty lenient when it comes to extra credit and gives a big boost. The exams are all multiple choice. He's a nice man as well.
He's very caring and wants all his students to pass - definitely helps when we go over the material with a week to study for tests. Textbook is required , and if you guys don't like heavy accents I don't recommend him. Other than that , he is a great professor and makes it relatively simple to understand the material.
He is a good professor, but his notes do confuse me.
I know plenty of people who did good in this class, but for me, it was really challenging. The way he taught did not help me with the way I learn. I went to pretty much every class and still had a hard time with it. He does give extra credit assignments after every exam to help get your grade up which is very kind. The only grades are the exams.
Dr. Datt is very nice and gives a lot of extra credit but you have to teach yourself and it makes it very difficult to learn. If you take him be prepared to fully teach yourself and have to find your own material as the lectures only contain pictures and no words and there are no pictures on the test.
Cares about students and is very clear about what material will be on the exam
It is very hard to understand his lectures, however, if you work very hard for his class you will succeed.
Dr. Datt is great. His exams are manageable if you study. Attendance isn't mandatory but definitely helps, especially for the last lecture before an exam because he reviews what will be on it. He also curves and gives extra credit assignments. Definitely recommend.
Dr. Datt is a great professor! If you attend class you'll know what's going on and do good on his exams.
Dr. Datt was a great professor and very interactive with the class. He knows how to joke around and lecture at the same time. He is very clear on what you need to know for the exams. This class is exam based so studying is key. He gives extra credit opportunities which help a lot and prepare you for future exams.
This class is very great for you if you have a lot of academic discipline. I have taken him for multiple courses and this is true for them all. Your grade will be determined by exams only. He also offers a lot of extra credit that could bring your grade up multiple letter grades if you do them. He explains everything you need to know for exams.
Professor Datt was a very helpful when it came to exam prep and clear on assignments. He also provides extra credit which can provide a major boost in your grade if done. All you really need to do is make sure that you understand the lecture material since the only assignments are exams and extra credit.
Come to class and write down what he says to and you can easily pass.
Lectures and notes are taught from slides, must come to class.
Dr. Datt is very funny and wants his students to succeed. If you go to class and study what he tells you to, you will succeed. There are four exams and you get to drop your lowest exam score. There is no homework or assignments, but he gives points back on exams and provides extra credit opportunities to be added to exam grades.
A good professor makes premade notes for you but goes over the information in class that is and isn't on the notes with occasional jokes. Exams are 50 min with 50 questions, but he goes over the material ~1 week prior to the exam to help narrow down what's on the exam; there are extra credit opportunities, and the lowest exam of 4 is dropped.
good teacher overall
Dr.Datt is an awesome professor that genuinely cares about his students. He goes through all the material before every exam and crosses out over half the material. He is very clear about what will be on the exam that is always 50 multiple choice and offers extra credit after every one. He ensures that none of his students fail. Highly Recommend!
Dr. Datt's classes are definitely lecture heavy, but he always does a session before the exam where he goes through each slide and tells you exactly what he expects you to know. He also offers an extra credit assignment after every exam. The material is detailed and tough, but it is a STEM class, so that is to be expected.
He is a very passionate and caring teacher who truly prioritizes educating his students properly
Does well at giving you all the information you need for exams; you have to show up to class to get this information. He offers plenty of extra credit and overall gives you ample opportunity to succeed. He has a review day before all exams to go over what you need to study for most. Graded only on exams and extra credit assignments.
He takes his time during the lectures to make sure that his students have a full understanding of the course work. He gives curves on the exams for questions that a lot of students got wrong and on top of that he gives up to 10 points extra credit points after every exam if you do the assignment. He also does review days before every exam.
Professor Datt is very generous with extra credit points. There is no homework in this course, you just need to study the material. He also gives you a study day the class before a test. He drops the lowest exam grade if you take the final which is helpful.
Dr. Datt was a very good teacher in my opinion. If you are a visual learner I think it might be a little more difficult for you to understand, but if you are like me and you learn by listening and asking questions then Dr. Datt is the teacher for you. Gives extra credit and really does want you to do well in his class.
Attendance is not mandatory, but his lecture notes are mostly figures from the textbook with minimal notes on them, so its easier to learn if you come to class and hear what he wants you to know about each figure. Good class for auditory learners. The exams are tough, but he tells you what you need to know a head of time and gives extra credit.
He stands at the front of the room and reads word for word off his bad lecture "notes", in a thick accent. Every exam is curved, but that is due to the fact that most students do awful on the exams. On top of that, he offers extra credit, but it is a ridiculous paper (about 3000 words that is due the next class) that adds, for my class, 8 points.
awful professor. accent is so heavy that you can not understand what he saying. whole class had to basically teach themselves from his horrendous, all over the place slides. he offers extra credit since everyone does pretty bad on exams, but these assignments are 3,000 word essays and are very difficult to complete by the due date (next class time)
Insanely hard class for no reason. The only thing that saved my grade was the extra credit. Take another professor if you can. Datt is a very poor professor.
hard to understand and you need to know previous knowledge of biology
anatomy itself is overall an extremely hard subject, but datt does not make this any easier. expect to study A TON for the exams, and be asked on the most minute detail. Attendance is not mandatory, but its pretty much impossible to pass if you don't come. extra credit is offered, but it's only because everyone does pretty bad on tests.
Professor Date is a very sweet man, however his class makes me want to cry every time I go. His lecture notes are extremely old, and "teaches" (being a loose term) out of a textbook which is very difficult to learn from. He does not teach during class, all his lectures can be summed up in an email. Extremely hard tests on the smallest details.
Datt is a great professor, He is very smart and knows what he is talking about. However he can sometimes teach very fast so make sure your paying attention, taking notes, and in class for all lectures. It may seem like a lot of info to memorize but trust me it will all make sense at the end, don't get discouraged, and stay on top of your work.
Datt's class is only graded by the result of the four exams, so if you're not a strong test taker I don't recommend this class. Because his lectures are based from figures on the textbook, it is very hard to understand concepts that he is teaching from just those. As long as you study and have a willingness to pass, you'll do great.
Professor Datt was phenomenal, great teacher with amazing jokes. Only a few grades which are exams, lowest one drops. Offers a lot of extra credit opportunities. Very caring professor. Very friendly to both genders of students :D.
Despite what everyone says he is not that bad. Anatomy is just a hard class. If u study the slides & read textbook & watch review videos you will do well. You cant delay studying tho, I start studying about 1-2 weeks in advance. He also curves each exam by atleast 5 percent points and u can get like 8 more by doing an extra assignment or 2.
do.not.take
This class is extremely easy if you come to the lectures, the review sessions clearly outline what is on the test and he gives amazing extra credit. would definitely take again.
His class is not easy so do not expect to be able to not study. You have to go to class or you will miss important info. He is clear about what he wants you to know and gives a day off of class before every exam to study. He is funny and cares about his students but very set in his ways. He gives extra credit opportunities that are very helpful.
Dr. Datt is a great professor. Those who are doing poorly most likely do not come to class or study like they should. Dr. Datt gives clear reviews and examples of what he expects for his tests, which is unlike most professors. Doing well in this course obviously requires studying, as it contains difficult content. There are clear expectations.
Exams-extremely hard and only multiple choice even though class is carried heavily by figures and pictures-Offers small amounts of extra credit to write 4+ pages about anatomy-Calls you out in class if he sees a phone or even if you take a picture of a slide or the material-Gives extra credit at the end so students give good reviews-shows hes awful
I think he is a really good teacher. I sat in on one of his non-Honors sections, and when he was using the microphone, it was difficult to understand him. His tests are pretty specific, but he tells you what you need to know in class. I'm going to be taking his BIOL 244 next semester as well. I really do think he wants to see his students succeed.
Don't take this class if you want to learn anything. Your grade is based on three exams with VERY specific questions. He will tell you that you don't need to know a topic, then will put it on the exam. He does offer extra credit, however, it will be a 3-page single-spaced paper on a very specific topic just to add 4 points to your grade.
The course has a lot of content, but professor Datt clearly describes what we need to know for exams, and answers questions. Don't be on your phone; even though he doesn't take attendance, you need to be in class if you want to pass. Very long lectures, which can be exhausting, but great professor!!
Dr. Datt's class is easy and doable if you are someone who will actually attend his class. If you try to take the easy way, he will take notice and won't be helpful to you. solely exams, no homework, he gives an insane amount of extra credit and curves every exam. He is a good professor and cares about you doing well on the exams
If you are okay with learning all material completely on your own, Datt is the way to go. He does not teach whatsoever. The only grades in this course are 4 exam grades and one is dropped. Very stressful with the expectation of knowing the entire textbook word for word.
Dr. Datt is a very smart man, and has high expectations of his students. His lectures are thorough and he relies a lot on slides and the textbook. Before every exam he will tell us what is on the exam, and which slides to throw away. His exams are defiantly tough but he offers extra credit on top of a curve, leaving his students with good grades.
Dr. Datt is an amazing and smart teacher who prepares his students well for his class. Attendance is mandatory but going to class helps out on his test tremendously. Before every exam, he goes over what is going to be on the exam by walking us through the slides and the textbook. He also gives extra credit after every exam.
Datt is the worst professor that you can take for BIO243. His lectures are confusing and he skips around. He does not address content that is necessary for the class and for a basic understanding as a Nursing major. I have learned more from my lab professor. He is not clear enough on instructions and is directly rude when questions are asked.
Dr. Datt is extremely kind and quite funny but he is the second worst professor I have had at USC. He does not use powerpoints, instead he uses outdated transparency slides. He also does not explain things well and leaves most of the work to you. There is extra credit after every exam though, which helps. Good luck.
Datt's class is a little all over the place, but he tells you exactly what will be on the exams. It can be a little confusing at times but he gives extra credit opportunities up to 8 points each exam and drops your lowest grade. I would take him again if I had to. He is also funny.
Dr. Datt was an amazing professor overall, while it can be hard to keep up in lectures, he will answer any questions you have in class. The biggest thing with his class is communication, if you do not ask questions or participate in class you will not get everything you need. He also gives extra credit, 10/10 recommend taking him!!
This class is very difficult, and Prof. Datt doesn't make it easier. Grade is out of 3 exams, which don't relate to his notes. He offers extra credit and drops the lowest exam but that does not help much. His lecture "notes" are all over the place which makes the information hard to understand. Be ready to teach yourself this class.
his lecture notes are a bit difficult to follow and the reading the textbook is kind of necessary on certain, concepts, he lets you know what's going to be on the exam and he offers extra credit. basically a lot of people complain about his but if you pay attention, ask questions, and study A LOT you'll get the grade you want. and he's funny
Dr. Datt is a very good professor, his exams are kind of difficult and his lectures are very information heavy but he always gives opportunities for extra credit on every exam (there are 3). He will always answer any questions you have but only in class, and he is very understanding if you don't understand something about the lecture.
Dr Datt is an outstanding professor. His class is based on his notes and the textbook. He gives you four exams and drops your lowest grade. He genuinely cares about his students and does an excellent job relaying the information to his class. Would definitely recommend taking his course, I really enjoyed this class.
Very lecture and textbook heavy. There is a lot of information given at once.Your only grades are 4 exams. Exams are difficult but he gives a "adjustment" and extra credit on the exams. He also drops the lowest exam grade. It's hard but you will pass due to all of the points given back. Not the best if you actually want to learn and retain info.
Datt gives extra credit assignments up to 8 points which helped boost my grade a whole letter. The extra credit is a lot of work, but worth it. He also adds adjustment points to the exams and drops the lowest exam score. I don't love his notes because it is mainly diagrams so make sure you go to class to get a better concept.
If you're a visual learner this class will be a breeze, Datt provides very useful slides that are exactly what will be on the exam. He makes very clear the information that will be on the exam and it's just up to you to memorize it. The main downside is that the only grades are 3 test grades, but he curves them and gives extra credit.
Dr. Datt makes his class enjoyable to attend by his jokes, he is very nice and understanding. He will let you know exactly what you need to know before each exam. Exams are taken online in a location of your choice. He also gives an extra credit option after each exam which is very helpful. His teaching is especially good for visual learners.
Professor Datt is a really nice person and great teacher. He really cares for his students, and wants you to succeed. In order to succeed though, you do need to go to class. His lectures are important because he will tell you what material is most important to study and understand for exams. He also gives extra credit opportunities.
Professor Datt does very lecture-heavy tests and while studying is needed his class was challenging and he always used images of notes rather than making his own. I think there are way better professors you could take actually to learn the information. I would not recommend taking him.
His lecture notes are all over the place, and there is more material in one unit than anyone could ever remember. You never know what will be on it. He is very difficult to understand. Do not expect to get any outside help from him, he will straight up tell you no. Our SI leader tried to help but even she couldn't keep up with him. DO NOT TAKE!!
He is very lecture heavy, if you don't show up to class, you will fail. He only gives 4 exams and 1 is dropped at the end, but the exams do not reflect any of the material covered in class. If you try to contact him for help outside of the class he will not help. If you want to keep your sanity and enjoy your major do NOT take his class.
Professor Datt is not as bad as people say he is. He gives 4 exams and drops your lowest, with extra credit and a curve. He tells you what will be exactly on the exam and what to study IF you ask in class. He wants his students to be successful and attendance isn't required, but you need to go if you are want to do well in the class.
Do NOT believe these reviews, this professor bribes students for good reviews because everyone knows he is a horrible professor and the only way students can pass is with meaningless extra points.
Dr. Datt is honestly a good person and cares about his students. He is very "old school" when it comes to lectures as he teaches entirely out of a textbook. Also, expect to teach yourself through tons of studying and repetition. Although he is a tough professor, he gives a ton of extra credit for exams. He is also hilarious at times.
I had Dr. Datt for BIO 244 Lecture, which is the second Anatomy class. He is a fast paced professor. He teaches from diagrams in the textbook (that you are required to get). He gives extra credit after ever exam, but the extra credit is 4-5 page papers. No homework. No grades other than exams and extra credit.
Dr. Datt is extremely nice and very funny. The class is interesting and informative. His grading is very clear and he offers lots of opportunities for extra credit. There are four exams and he drops your lowest, there is a little bit of a curve as well. Attendance is not mandatory but you definitely have to go to class if you want to be successful.
I had Datt for Bio 243 Lecture and he is very fast-paced and normally all over the place. His lectures are just him reading his notes and pictures. He's hard to understand most of the time and his exams are difficult. However, he does care about you and curves the exams. He also offered extra credit assignments which saved my grade.
Did terrible in his class , very very very very can not stress enough very thick accent hard to understand but does give extra credit but passing his test are very hard
Although Professor Data is a caring guy, he is not so much a great teacher. His only grades for the ENTIRE semester are three exams (you take 4 and he drops the lowest one). He does not teach, he just kind of goes through a confusing powerpoint and says read the textbook. Please do NOT take him as a teacher, or your gpa will drop.
Bio243 with Professor Datt was an extremely hard class. You are graded from 3 tests that have no pictures or diagrams, but the notes he shows in class are diagrams and pictures. He has a thick accent, and calls people out in class if they are talking to their classmates for help or taking pictures of the notes. I would never take his class again.
Dr. Datt is an adorable human who does genuinely care about his students. His class is beyond difficult, but if you are willing to put in work you will do well.
Dr. Datt has a thick accent and calls people out in class if they were asking people next to them for notes. which made it less motivating to go. He goes very fast and his tests are extremely specific. He does give a large amount of extra credit that is a lot of work, but it saved my grade.
do not take him. take literally anybody else, i cannot stress this enough.
I wouldn't take him again. The notes are so difficult to understand. Test are on lockdown browser with 45 minutes for 50 questions which was defiently not enough time even on the final. If you want to teach yourself then this is perfect for you! Extra credit is given on almost every test but for more you write a single spaced 2-4 page paper.
Anil Datt is the worst professor I have ever had; the class is based on 4 exams one can get dropped. He is extremely hard to understand and makes 0 effort to help you understand the material. His notes and teaching method make no sense. he teaches based on pictures but no pictures on the exam, his questions are so random. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.
Worst professor I have ever had. My one piece of advice is to not take him. Literally anyone else is better
Do not listen to the good reviews on here! He does not care about you, he will not help you. He only cares about his image which is why he give so much extra credit. He only gives it becuase all his students fail his tests and the people that pass are learning the material by themselves or they are cheating. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Anil Datt is the worst bio professor you could ever have. His class is based off 3 tests (he drops the lowest). He does not give homework or quizzes. His only form of "homework" are his ridiculous, time consuming extra credit that he does not read. They are single spaced, size 11 font and are between 3-4 pages long. If you take him, I wish you luck
If I could give this man a 0 I would. The only plus is that he gives extra credit but that is because everyone fails his tests except for the people that cheat. I usually never listen to rate my professor ratings but I promise you do not want this man. I have never felt so helpless in a classrom. He also teaches from photos that make no sense.
Gives a lot of extra credit but you have to attend lectures to get understanding of concepts.
Hard class compared to other professors but he wants you to succeed
Datt gives lots of opportunities at extra credit, his notes can be confusing so its recommended to come to class to get all the information
Professor Datt cares for his students. He makes class funny and makes me engaged. He does require buying the textbook, but you can find it cheap online used. He also gives a ton of extra credit. I definitely recommend taking Datt.
he is so precious!!! he makes funny jokes and gives a lot of extra credit! take him!!! exams are online which is always good news
Professor Datt is a very caring professor, he gives a lot of extra points and extra credit opportunities. He requires a textbook and uses it for every class.
The material in the class is hard but not impossible. He gives extra credit assignments after each test which really help. He also gives points back on each exam.
He gives you extra credit after each exam, up to 8 points. The course is difficult but make sure you read textbook before class.
The class is hard itself and you will need to study. The exams are moderately difficult but he offers a lot of extra credit points so he does really try to help you with your grades. As long as you come to class you should be fine.
Dr. Datt is a great professor! You do need to put in the work in this class, but that is with every class. If you want to be lazy then don't take this course, but that won't get you far anyway. He genuinely cares about his students and is severely funny if you actually talk to him.
He is a very nice man very funny give lots of extra credit point. Make optional final. Exams can be tricky but one of your lowest exam grade will be dropped. No homework just exams.
If you are prepared to put in the work and study, you should be fine in this class. He gives plenty of extra credit. He can be hard to understand sometimes, and you have to go to the lectures to understand the material. He is a very nice and funny guy and genuinely cares about his students and their success.
Dr. Datt will always be a great professor to me. He will always answer any questions you have, as long as you ask them! Extra credit is given on every exam to ensure that you succeed in the class. You do need to put in the work and study, but that is what we are all here for. He is definitely a 10/10 professor!
If you take Dr. Datt don't be alarmed when you first start. The class itself can be intimidating, but he wants to make sure you succeed in the class. Make sure to ask questions and talk to him, if you don't, the class will be very boring. He is so funny and caring, just make sure you are ready to put in the work.
Mr. Datt is an amazing and funny teacher. He really knows the material he teaches and tries to engage with his students during the lecture. He always gives extra credit opportunities for the exams too.
Dr Datt always put in all of his effort and time into his classes. Although the class is a difficult subject, he does a great job at giving the resources needed to understand the material. He always gives extra credit. You can tell that he cares a lot about his students and the material that he is teaching. I highly reccomend Dr Datt.
"I was nervous about Professor Datt at first after reading others' opinions about him, but I must say he is such a great professor!! He tells you what you need to know and what will be included on the exam.
Avoid taking Dr. Datt. It wasn't until having Eudy for Biol244 that I realized how poor of a professor he is. His notes are unorganized and what he wants students to know for exams is unclear. His accent is also hard to understand. Take high ratings with a grain of salt - he tells students he will offer extra credit if good reviews are left.
Love his class! Study.
Everyone that I knew who got an A in this class said they cheated. His exams are very specific and unrelated to his notes. 90% of his notes are pictures, but the exams have no pictures. He adds 6 points to each exam because everyone does bad and offers an extra credit essay for 8 points but doesn't give much time to write the time consuming essay
He is a very kind and caring man who wants his students to succeed. He offers lots of opportunities for extra credit and grades generously. He also is very straightforward in what he expects from the class and material required for exams.
In order to do good come to class and pay attention to lectures. Take advantage of extra credit and ask questions and you will do fine.
He is a good professor who is very passionate about his work. He makes lectures fun and always helps students by giving helpful hints and assigning optional extra credit after every exam. Although the course material is hard, he is a great teacher.
Very professional and helpful with students. Helps a lot with the grading and helps students succeed through his class
amazing teacher with a good sense of humor and ample opportunities for grade improvement
He gives good extra credit
Although the class is difficult, Prof Datt wants you to succeed. He usually provides a curve and extra credit for each test. Tests are online and he provides you with a study day before test day in order to study. The more lecturers you go to the better.
Datt is a great professor. His class is based around four exams but he gives chances for extra points.
Dr. Datt was a very nice professor! He provided us with many opportunities to bring up our grades, which was greatly appreciated. He is very nice and funny, but you need to show up to class. You also need a textbook to pass! Overall, as long as you do the necessary things to pass this class you can be successful.
Dr. Datt offers lots of extra credit activities and he also offers a curve for his exams. His lectures align well with the lab you will take, so this makes his and other BIO classes a lot easier if you study his material. He is kind and he is also funny, so you're never bored in his class.
Pretty good professor, he is clear about what is on the exams and what we need to study. The only things that are graded are the exams, however, there are extra credit assignments that can be very useful in raising your grade if they are needed. As long as you come to class and take notes you should be able to pass his classes.
He is tough but he truly cares about your success. He gives extra credit after every exam and also curves it. He also will drop the lowest test grade.
Very funny professor. He is very nice. You need the textbook to be successful. There are only 3 exams plus the final exam. He offers extra credit after each exam which is beneficial. He tells you exactly what you need to know in the textbook. He also provides his own handwritten notes. Attendance is not mandatory but it is beneficial to come.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but it is needed to succeed in this class. Bio 244 is hard. There is no way around that. I have taken him for 2 semesters, and you can easily get an A if you study. Lectures are fast-paced and difficult, but the extra credit makes up for the difficult content.
Datt is a very understanding teacher and supportive of your grade if you show up to class. He offers extra credit to your exams along with a boost after the exam. Also keeps class entertaining with some jokes here and there. If you a show up and take the proper notes he requires you will have no problem with having at least a B+.
He cares very much about his students succeeding, answers all questions, and gives extra credit. Lecture goes hand and hand with lab, so all of the material gets covered in both classes. His accent is not hard to understand, and if you put in the work you will receive a good grade.
Dr. Datt offers a lot of extra credit opportunities as well as curves for tests. He gives good lectures and is very personal and kind. His lectures align with the lab class you will take so his class is easy if you know the material. He is also funny.
Dr Datt is very kind and funny! He likes to joke and makes class fun! He is rated poorly because his class and the material is very difficult, but he gives extra points and extra credit on every exam! He also drops one exam
Datt is truly a great professor. He curves every test AND provides a extra credit assignment for each test. He drops your lowest exam out of the 4 which are all taken on respondus in location of your own choice.
This professor is very helpful and provides everything needed for the test! Do not believe the haters who don't think studying is useful. I would recommend to take again!
He was a really understanding professor. He listens to students concerns and gives a lot of extra credit which is really helpful since the course work can be heavy. I enjoyed his lecture because of how entertaining it was. He also gives material needed to be successful on that exam.
very thick accent, doesn't post his lecture slides, extra credit assignments are insanely long, doesn't let you take pictures of his slides in class, calls you out when asking your neighbor a question. basically teach yourself out of a textbook. DON'T TAKE HIM!
Test questions consist of the smallest details from the textbook. Bribes his students for good reviews. Accent is very difficult to understand. Calls students out during class for the smallest thing. Doesn't post lecture slides, expected to learn on your own from the textbook. Overall worst professor yet. Take anyone else if u can!
This class is tough but manageable. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you have to go in order to do well on the exams. There is a lot of extra credit for each exam, which helps and helpful review days before an exam as well. Some of the information taught is hard to understand because it is handwritten notes or markings from the textbook.
I was nervous to have Datt but I thought he was great. His tests are straight forward and you get to take them online during the class period. He is very generous with 6 points extra each exam and an optional 8 point extra credit assignment. His lectures are a little hard to follow along because he uses pictures and the book but overall great.
He is very nice and doesn't want you to fail. Answers questions if you need doesn't expect you to know everything and goes over the little things. You NEED the book, but you can find it on eBay for cheap. Be prepared to study a lot, I recommend to start studying a little bit every day the second he starts teaching so you do not get overwhelmed.
If you don't want to have to study at all, don't take him. His course is challenging but very rewarding. You get extra credit on every exam, 6 point curve and 8 points added if you write a 3-4 page paper. The papers are the easiest thing you will do and he isnt looking for you to write something fancy.
If I could rate Professor Datt 0/5 I would. Your final grade is based on 3 exams which are extremely specific making it almost impossible to study for. The lack of notes, homework, and quizzes also makes studying difficult because there is no way to measure how well you are learning. Attending lecture doesn't help due to his harsh accent.
Professor Datt's class is challenging, but with effort, the extra credit and generous grading curve make it manageable. Definitely use the textbook and try unstuckstudy AI for exam prep.
This is the worst professor ive ever taken throughout all of my time at college. You cant even call him a professor because he does not teach. He just puts a diagram on the board and then expects you to learn it without explaining anything. You have to study for hours everyday to pass, i took anatomy with another professor and it was 100x easier.
This has been the worse professor I have had at school. Only graded on exams, but one can be dropped. He does give extra credit, but they are insanely long and time consuming with very little time to complete. He also is very unsympathetic towards students. DO NOT TAKE!!!
worst professor ive had in my entire life. entire grade is based on 3 exams. tests are on the tiniest detals you wouldnt even think to study. gives a range of 50 textbook pages to study and only 20% makes it on the exam. if you want a professor that will actually teach, DO NOT RECOMMEND. no phones allowed or speaking, and will call you out for it.
Mr. Datt reads slides right from the textbook and some of his own notes. Don't take notes in class because he goes fast. Write down the pages he says to. The 2nd to last class before the exam, he says what to study and what not to. He offers 6-10 points of credit after an exam, which is busy work. 4 exams (50 MC), drops the worst. He's also funny.
Dr. Datt is a nice guy and wants you to do well. Class is less about learning and more of him telling you textbook pages on the exam, and you have to tech yourself. He has an accent thats hard to understand and he isnt very tech savy. 4 tests and you can drop the lowest. He curves + gives extra credit for each. Hard but not impossible to do well
The worst professor I have ever taken. He somehow manages to make simple content feel impossible to learn by doing the bare minimum: a textbook and low effort explanations. Doesn't provide any supplemental material like what every other professor does;Studying is just teaching yourself as if you weren't even enrolled in the class. A waste of money.
Dr. Anil's class is difficult, all anatomy classes are. He relys on the textbook to lecture along with his slides (he does not post them). But, he provides notes for chapters and hosts a review session where he explains what things to study and what not to. Grades are based on 3 exams and he gives extra credit on every exam.
Didn't learn a single thing that I didn't already previously know or that I didn't have to teach myself. Lectures were hard to follow along due to his thick accent. He would barely teach the material, he'd just tell you if you needed to know it for your exam or not. Had to buy a huge textbook that made my backpack 100lbs. I'd recommend a dif prof.
Professor Datt was pretty funny and very generous, giving extra credit. He gave away at least 14 points of extra credit for each exam. You had to write 3-5 page papers for the points. He does not really teach anything; he just tells you what will be on the exam and what won't. I would not retake him, but he was not terrible.
If you read the textbook you should be ok for the exams, the lectures aren't mandatory, he gives so much extra credit on the exams it will bump your grade up so much
If you can take any other professor for Bio 243 or 244, please do. I had to take Datt for both and to say his class was my least fav is an understatement. His lectures were pointless- his notes were solely diagrams while his exams were on the tiniest details with no diagrams. Anatomy is my fav topic but Datt's class made me feel like I hated it.
His English is not good, so you barely understand what he is saying. He also doesn't explain things. He gives you some notes pages, not all of them, and tests on everything. No matter how long you study for, it doesn't matter because the tests are so hard. I spent over 40 hours studying for one exam, and I got a bad grade. He is an awful professor.
Exams are based on specific content that was not discussed in lecture.
If you have the chance to avoid this professor, avoid him at all costs. He only grades 3/4 exams and drops the lowest. His tests are nothing like the lectures and he only goes off of the textbook and pictures you can hardly understand. He has a very heavy accent and does not care about you as a student.
He is not a very good teacher. Hard to understand. Exams barely mirror the notes. Only way that I know people have passed is by teaching themselves. Do not recommend if you need the credit and can only get it by passing the class.
Very sweet man, terrible teacher. Does not post his slides so keep that in mind. I took this professor because most classes were filled up. Gives extra credit on his tests, so its doable to do well if you put in ALL THE WORK! You must know the text book pages like the back of your hand to do well. I studied for hours and hours. No office hours.
The professor himself is very nice, but he definitely isn't for everyone. The textbook is absolutely required! Attendance isn't mandatory but it definitely is if you want to pass. I dropped the course because I wasn't a fan of his teaching methods. He does give extra credit at the end of every exam!
This teacher can be viewed in different ways, he is very heavy on the textbook and that is the only thing he uses. He usually never lets you download the slideshows so you must have the book to write down the notes. There are 4 tests and one is dropped, so your overall grade is based on 3 tests, so you must do good.
Not the best, but doable. Very textbook heavy and not the most entertaining. I mostly taught myself and didn't go to class and ended with an A. 4 exams, but if you do good on the first three you do not have to take the final if you are okay with your grade.
Do not take him unless you absolutely have to. His lectures are just pictures from the textbook on a slideshow and he doesn't allow you to take pictures. You're only graded on 3 out of 4 of the exams but there's no pictures on the exams, just words so you basically have to teach yourself the material. He is also hard to understand.
If you actually care about learning the material from the professor yourself don't take this class. He genuinely is awful at his job and provides very little help outside of class. I got an A in 243 lecture/lab from a different professor did extremely well. His notes make no sense and heavily relies on the textbook. Just awful.
Grades based on three exams does give extra credit but you have to write a 4 page essay within like a few days. Attendance is not mandatory and his lectures are not helpful. it is just based off the textbook but then the exam questions are so random and niche things. it is hard to understand him and doesn't explain well.
Worst class of my life, and the only grades are 3 out of 4 exams.
grade is based on 3 tests. final does replace one, doesn't make your life easier. Lectures are textbook-heavy; just reads what it says. If you miss class, you'll miss the whole lecture doesnt post it or the textbook pages used. calls out students if on phone. watches back lockdown browser recordings. Worst teacher ive had. still here j for legacy.
He can be viewed in different ways bc his teaching style isn't for all. Textbook is only material he uses, no slides. It's doable but you must go to lecture. Extra credit is received after every exam, usually papers. He curves all exams. Bad language barrier. Grade is only out of 3 exams. Doesn't answer emails, all questions must be asked in class.
Do not take him unless you absolutely have to. His exams are difficult and the questions are from the tiniest details and figures from the textbook. Attendance is optional, but he doesn't post his lecture slides. He's also hard to understand and doesnt provide office hours. He also tends to get smart with students and give a rude response.
This class' grades are exclusively exams. There are no other assignments or homework aside from optional ones that add 6 points to your exam grade. Attendance is not mandatory, but the information he posts and gives regardless is lackluster and hard to navigate. The textbook is necessary, and he has a bad attitude. Would never take again
Do not take this professor unless you absolutely have to. Doable, but requires A LOT of outside work. The professor basically teaches you nothing. You have to go to class to get the lectures (not provided on BB), but he doesn't explain the information at all. Taught myself everything. Poorly answers questions in class.
If you care about your mental health do not take this professor. His lectures consist of very few pictures that are illegible with no words or explanations, his way of teaching is telling you what something is without explaining, and his accent makes it hard to understand anything. I had to use other teachers slideshows to understand anything.
Unless you absolutely have to, like myself, DO NOT take his class. I genuinely learned nothing and failed almost every exam except one because he doesn't teach. I genuinely have never struggle in a class and this made me want to quit school all together. Good luck soldiers
