Great guy, knows what he's teaching, pretty much the greatest prof i've had. if you have a question, he cares enough to help you get better!
Makes me actually attention in class and one of the few that I don't fall asleep in! Also one of the few classes that I actually use his class notes to study from instead of the textbook. If you ask a dumb question in class, he still answers it like its a brand new topic.
Best teacher ever, fell in love with maths
He has so much enthusiasm for his course material, it's contagious. Great teacher, very patient and very organized. Lesson plans were well thought out but the Exam was tough, tough, tough.
He is an awesome teacher. He will give you something to take home besides homework. I think that he is like a candle - he consumes himself to light the way for others. I am grateful that I had this type of a teacher.
Professer Sarker is one of the best teachers I have ever had in all of my many years of education!!!! this man will do anything for his students and gives up weekends to help students before his midterms!!!! he doesnt use the textbook so it saves money!!! if you can take his class!
Awsome .Had him for Differential, integral and vector.I learned so much.Best profs.Out of 3 midterms 1 will be hard. But finals are hard.He teaches so well that he expect you to perform in return.Gave help sessions before each exam. Thanks you Sir.
He is absolutely amazing! Out of all the professors I've had, he taught his courses the best. Professor Sarker genuinely cares for his students and makes you truly understand difficult concepts.
Wonderful man! loved his cheesy humour and interesting stories! Midterms and final were very fair, with lots of marks given for knowledge of the concepts where typical math professors grade only on proper procedure and successful attempts. Most dedicated prof to his students spending hours of his time to help even a single person.
The absolute man, the ladies love him;)But seriously he is very dedicated to his class and the only problem with him is he expects hark work in return for his excellent teaching.
Best teacher out there! Hilarious and fun and very very helpful. Evaluations were easy!
Man i miss you teaching us.He cared.Gave 4 hours help session before exam.!B.E.S.T P.R.O.F E.V.E.R
Good prof but teaches a simple subject. Very fair tests/exams and you should have no problem getting atleast a B (if you take gr.12 math you should easily get an A like me)
Dr. Sarkar is the best prof in the whole school. Period. I hated math before university and was dreading having to take the class, but I love it so much now.
Dr. Sarker is the greatest prof at this school. He's adorable!
The best teacher anyone could ever have ever. EVER. He's a good man, you can go and talk to him about anything you want and he'll be there and listen. Anyone hesitant to take a maths course....do it, if only for the privilege of having this man teach you.
I have no words for this guy... All RESPECT I can give him will be less...He is an Angel... This guy is the best professor... extremely helpful. If you are scared of maths, then this is your chance to make a chance...
Best prof i had in entire first year, easily best prof for first year students. If you can take him, get him!!!
He is hands down one of the most sincere and helpful professors the university of Windsor has to offer. Absolute gem.
great great teacher, very enthusiastic and funny at times. really makes the class and boring math interesting. however be prepared for the tests, he really does have a hard on for math and so loves to test his students with the hardest questions. but nevertheless, one of the best math profs ive seen.
Great teacher, actually cares for his students and takes it upon himself to teach students to the fullest. As long as you do the work he posts on CLEW and look over your notes, you should do great. He shows the sincarity of that of a high school teacher.
Really great prof and highly recommend him. Doesn't really use textbook but great notes, good sense of humor, and relates info well
Amazing professor, has a passion for math and its contagious. He makes class interesting and if you do all the homework you can get an A
Phenomenal prof. Possibly the best math prof at the U of W. Great use of class time, many examples are provided, and his enthusiasm for math actually inspired me. Highly recommended.
He is an excellent math prof simply because he is very good at explaining, he takes extra steps, and tries to make sure that everyone understands. On top of that, the guy is incredibly smart.
Awesome prof! Very clear, easy to understand and funny! Attend class, do your homework and you'll get an A. Highly recommended!!
Very helpful, very easy to understand, GO TO CLASS! if you miss class you miss whole concepts, loves using class examples on tests, midterms very fair if you study, FINALS ARE DEATH! try and study all you will, it wont help, killer killer finals
The final exam was so hard, don't take any classes with him, no matter how much you would study you will never get a good grade in the final exam, AVOID HIM HE IS HORRIBLE TRUST ME
Good professor! Has an accent but nothing that cannot be understood. Is funny every so often and the exams are definitely fair. Do a lot of practice problems and don't expect a decent grade if you don't.
Great prof, easy to understand, fair exams.....best prof I had in first year
nice guy, clear when speaking, easy exams(review from highschool).as long as you do the labs for differential calc and get perfect or know what you did wrong, you will ace the exam.for linear algebra,DO THE REVIEW HE GIVES YOU.i made the mistake of not doing it(i forgot) and turns out the exam is similar to the review.couldve gotten A+, got an A only
Very good professor and tests are very easy. If you attend the classes regularly you are half done. Go with him. Highly recommended!!!
He is one of the best professors in the U of W. If you see a math course with him just take it don't even think about it... Could've got an A+ but I didn't study for the final
The best prof in U of W ... Maybe the best prof in the world .. Simply THANK U SIR FOR THE GREAT 3 SEMESTERS
He is the best prof I've had in this university as simple as that, but If you do not study do not say his tests are cuz they are not. He prepares you really well for exams. Beware of his finals they are death :)
BEWARE! Although he is a good prof, he has extremely high expectations of his students- resulting in extremely difficult exams more suited for math and physics majors instead of chem and biochem majors AND NO CURVING! If you are taking his integral calc course be sure to focus on his 'quizzes' instead of the text questions to prepare for exams.
Great teacher, really know's how to get the attention of the student towards the subject at hand, also teaches you to listen to your heart more often even in when it comes to solving hard integral problems.
This prof is the worst calculus teacher I have had at UWindsor. He does the simple stuff in class then on the exams he introduces extremely convoluted questions. He wastes time teaching irrelevant topics that are not even covered on the exams. Avoid this prof at all costs; he's great at degrading students when a question is asked!
I took this prof for calc 1 and he was allright (better than others), his tests are a little long and hard, i got a 63 in his class altnough i dont think i could have done much better, i really hoped that he would curve up the class but he didnt
Went very hard on us this semester, compared to previous years tests, ours were noticeably more challenging. Average was very low. Made a joke about not leaving his name on your suicide list when you do it on the first Friday of class, sure enough a student committed suicide three months later and it made for an awkward situation.
Amazing. Makes concepts clear in terms of that "ah that makes sense" feeling and also makes them palpable to the mind. His class examples are rather simple so you can understand, but dont expect the tests to be like that; you're going to have to go thru the book and do the toughest q's but thats the beauty of mathematics, it takes an inquiring mind
He is not a good prof. (Specially for math) :). The test are HARD.
Excellent prof for any course, especially for the tougher engineering math courses. DON'T miss his classes. He'll make it very clear for you on how to do excellent. DO... HIS... QUIZZES!!!
Integral calculus with Dr. Sarkar, good luck you poor soul.
Super great prof, hope to see him in the future. He made a dry subject very fun with his humor. Had him for calc and he was super easy.
Respected by everyone. No bad comments about him at all.
He knows how to teach and isnt borning
The tests were painful, and even more so because he does such a good job of explaining things in class that when the exam comes you'll feel pretty confident. Not a bad course to take, just be aware that you need to be VERY comfortable with the material and know the harder quiz problems well if you want a half respectable grade.
The student is so lucky if he had him as a professor . He is amazing . No need for the textbook his explaining is enough . He prepares you well for the test
Follow your heart, do your homework, and you will pass. Brilliant professor, never bored, love calculus because of this guy.
Was a great teacher who made every attempt to help his students and keep lectures lighthearted and entertaining.
He's a nice guy but not really that great inside the classroom. Giant gap between what he teaches and the homework. He makes things way more complicated than they need to be and his attempts to explain concepts are poor, if he bothers at all which leaves you feeling like you're doing math just for the sake of doing math. I was very disappointed.
uses his computer program to solve questions he expects you to be able to solve by hand.
Let me tell you what to do if you need vector calculus... take Baron. With Sarker you will get two easy exams worth 25% each. If you do bad on them you might as well drop. The final is harder and drops most people's grades by 10-25%. Mine dropped from a 86% to a 76%. Good prof, but got lazy after exam 2. No need for the book. Use Pauls Online Math
I don't recommend him
His lectures are amazing. He explains stuff very good. You can always ask for his assistance after class and during office hours and he'll make sure your problem is solved. He does give a lot of hw but the beauty of it is that, if you complete and understand it than definitely you'll be getting an easy A.
The first exam was easy, the second exam was very easy and the final was long and mediocre in difficulty (some stuff you've never seen before). After the 2nd exam his teaching was worse (from 10/10 to 7/10). But, if you do his quizzes you will get a solid grade in this class. Skip the textbook. My final grade was a 85, had to work for it.
He is a great professor .You want to get an A all you have to do is do his homework that is all .
I took differential and Integral Calc with him, hands down hes a great proff, one of the few that actually put effort into teaching the content and ensuring you remember in the long run... all those who rated him poor are probably used to getting spoon fed which doesnt happen in Uni.. Mids are easy and finals tough, Qs are mostly from HW so do it!
Dr Sarker is easily one of the funniest prof's. If you do the homework he assigns you, and you participate and ask questions when you don't understand, then you'll do great in any of his classes. I'm looking forward to having him again next semester. He's always willing to help and answer questions.
Good teacher. Funny lectures. Lots of worked examples. Hard tests. No textbook required.
Although I probably just failed his final, Sarker is awesome. His passion for mathematics is intriguing and makes you want to learn. The midterms are much easier than the final. If you're taking calc Sarker is 100% the best option.
Diving deep into the theory that is not needed for this course, making topics difficult to understand. There would be no time to do actual problems so he would use Maple- a computer software to find the final answer. You should already know how to do this from math 140 is a common phrase that gets him out of solving a problem/ responding to a qustn
most difficult class offered at the U. Our class has a failing average. Is very good at math and works out almost any problem. He is not understanding when students do not understand him. His office hours are really late, he strategically does this is students don't bother him. If you email him, he takes at least 3 days to reply.
Does not know how to explain concepts clearly; he makes it more complicated than it needs to be. Sped up through the material at the end of the course as he did not have time to present them during the lecture: we jogged through three chapters of the text book in one lecture and did the teacher evaluation during one last class. Avoid!
Sarker is a terrific teacher. He really makes a big effort to make sure we understand. The only problem is that he tends to overcomplicate things sometimes which can make it confusing. And there are some things on the tests that we never learned yet, so beware of that. He's really funny though, so that makes it better.
He does not how to teach the course and that is all that relevant. Organization skills are clearly lacking in such a university level course. Being hilarious and funny is irrelevant. The tests were so much harder than what he was presenting in class.
Best lectures. Best exams. Great professor
First year engineer, Calculus is basically high school stuff. I read some of the negative comments from what I experienced being with him I would rate it as 5.0 overall quality . He is a great prof overall just some bad terrible jokes. If you do the hmw weekly in what you learned, you will pass. Independent person did not get any help got 90% test1
The best prof
If you want to learn the material take his class, if you want a high mark take another professors class. This guy makes his midterms and exams so much harder than they need to be then curves it (if they are really bad which they usually are). Also if he walks into the exam with a smile you know you're screwed.
Fantastic prof. His lectures are detailed, clear, and funny. All assignments and tests were reasonably difficult, but manageable if you studied everything well. Really helps you understand the material, would take again.
lectures were really well structured and taught but he always seemed angry. apparently he had a bad bunch of engineers a year or two ago and hes holding a grudge but idk. overall, 7/10 with rice. (midterms were marked same day as we took them and were marked the fairest out of all my classes so +rice for that)
He is a good professor, but he is also a very very tough grader, the class average was 56% in the last semester.
Saker is a tough grader; his tests are super hard, even if you do everything he told you to do, you still can not get B in his class. You can't imagine how hard the tests are.
I love this professor, he is patient when I asked him questions relate to integration. Great lecture, you have to attend his class
He's Really funny, an honest caring prof as well. i took integral calc, don't get me wrong, it's really hard and you have to study your butt off but he's a good teacher. A 2 quotes i loved when he spoke about math was " Follow your heart, that's the beauty of Calculus. " and " This is high school math"
He's honestly a legend. The way he breaks down the course content is amazing
Good teacher and good guy. Go to the classes or you will probably fail
THE BEST PROF, AMAZING LECTURES AND A FUNNY GUY, AS LONG AS U DO ALL HIS HOMEWORK U SHOULD GET AT LEAST a B IF NOT an A
Overall he's a good prof. If you do ALL his homework and actually understand it the class is an easy A. There's no real surprises on the exams and he gives more than enough time to write them. He's really arrogant though and it's hard to get a hold of him outside of class.
Sarker is a one of a kind. He does a good job of teaching the material and if he sees that you want to succeed, he will help you and support you and he might make you fall in love with math. This class is very challenging and it does require a lot of work, but if you do the work and study regularly, you will get an A but it is a LOT of work.
Sarker's class is legendary , if you try and challenge him in class you better be prepared or you'll be destroyed. Fantastic prof, if you do all his homework you are guaranteed an A, anyone who says different just didn't put the work in. Exam questions all come from his homework.
Good guy. Tried hard to get students to participate and understand the lessons. Get to class on time or you will miss half the note. Uses humor to convey messages. Usually plagued with terrible, not helpful teaching assistants. Course itself is not that challenging.
Vector calculus. The best math lecturer Ive had, he keeps it interesting and keeps the important points in the foreground. You must attend lectures to get a sense of the questions he will test. Relying on the book will lead you in too many directions and you'll struggle on the tests. He took a very advanced subject and made it accessible.
GOAT status. Really good.
Despite all these people saying that his classes is an easy A if you did all the homework is somewhat right. If you 3 hours of homework every day (yes thats how much he gives) then you can get a good mark. His marking rubric that his TA's use is borderline unfair and behold anyone who tries to "challenge" him in class.
Great Prof! He went at a good pace and his lectures were good. He was VERY helpful during his office hours. The course is only graded on 1 MT, Labs, and a final. His exams are from what he teaches, no surprises! I liked him very much.
He is a sweetheart. Will help you with anything, and his midterm is based on all your labs and the review he gives. Posts prerecorded lectures, and scheduled lectures are for questions.
The class is mostly a review from high school. The lectures were posted pre-recorded and then his lecture times he would use for extra examples. He explained pretty well and took a lot of questions. He wants you to succeed. Overall, great professor.
Pros: passionate, humorous. Cons: rushes through, not enough prep for exam. Tips: - Do the practice exams. - Do the textbook questions and learn to navigate solution manual. - Do Practice Mobius Labs to get feedback and learn potential formatting errors. Do actual lab along with practice or right after to keep info fresh.
As long as you pay attention and practice, you should be fine.
Hjjjbbidzgvxcc
Amazing prof, goes through many examples and provides many practice questions similar to what will be on the final. To succeed in the class, make sure to do the practice exam questions that are posted and keep up with the material.
Funny and very passionate about what he's teaching, you'll learn a lot if you go to the lectures. He also has all the mobius lectures linked in D2L, so you technically don't have to go to lectures if you don't want to. If you stay on top of your work, you will do good in his class.
Sarkar makes an 8:30am lecture somehow barrable. He's funny with his little random quips but will also take any questions you may have and answer them on the spot. Whatever scenario you want him to cover, he will without complaint. He is open and honest about what is on the midterm and final, often legit saying "this question will be on the __".
Professor made it easier to understand harder concepts. He has many catchphrases that make class more enjoyable. As long as you pay attention and go to class, you will be fine.
