This man should not be allowed to teach...absoulutely boring and a bad prof. Pick Mageirowski instead for ENEL 341. His quizzes are hard and his lectures are very unclear.
This prof know his material so well, it is staggering! He can explain it well and genuinely cares about the students' understanding. After the massacre of ENEL 463 under Badawy, he managed to teach an comprehensive review of 463 and all of 465 with great success. Don't get me wrong, though. It's still tough subject material. Take his classes!
Previous comment pretty much covers it. Taught us two courses in four months. He's enthusiastic and frighteningly learned. If every prof were like him uni would be a breeze.
This prof is great for ENEL 341. He knows his stuff and does tons of examples. I'd totally recommend choosing him for 341, he's awesome!!
Great, enthusiastic prof who knows his stuff...
The midterm was fine - it followed the textbook, the assignments were fine - they followed the textbook, and the quizzes were fine - they followed the book too. But the exam was horrible, and none of it came from the assignment questions. Next time tell your students that the textbook will be useless for the course.
Firs time teaching ENEL 327 - it's a useless class, but he was enthusiastic enough that it made the class bearable. He's very approachable, midterm is easy, tells you exactly what's going to be on it. Does spend a lot of time on doing proofs, which is useless. Make sure you use your textbook!
This guy is decent on teaching. He definitely knows what he is doing in class. Try to do the assignments by yourself, then you should end up with a good grade.
Great Prof, very enthusiastic
Great class overall, very nice Prof and a good teacher, knowledgeable, who knows his stuff; and well organize. He is always willing to help students, quick to respond any questions. He is available to give extra help though his office hours
Dr. Haque is a very enthusiastic prof and is very clear in delivering his knowledge...his notes are compact and very helpful..his review session is amazingly helpful! please do take his class..he has a good sense of humour tooo!! :) i recommend!
Great Teacher. I highly recommend this class!! Very enthusiastic and makes the material interesting. MOST importantly, he cares about the students and what they think! 1/√2 = cos60º :)
where should i start... Amazing prof. very clear in his teaching. Will answer any question, even if he had just answered it 5 secs earlier. His tests are marked based on your understanding of the concepts not on how often ur internal calculator malfunctions. Very important to attend and follow every lecture... ask him his theory on "Human Nature"!
Awesome!
How can i describe his teaching... very organized, has vast knowledge about circuit.Like Ideal OPAM he is ideal for this course ..I hope ".... like Ideal Opam(infinite gain) He always has and will have infinite potential , infinite patience, infinite enthusiasm for teaching this course and for the students...... WE all LOve you Sir...
An excellent Prof. very easy to approach and makes sure every students understand the subject. The only thing about the courses he teaches is that sometimes,I said sometimes, even after drinking 3 cups of coffee, you will somehow still fall asleep in his class.
Very enthusiastic in what he teaches. Always has a smile on even after getting mad at someone for talking. His notes are very well presented and going to his class would be a sure way to do well in the course. A prof that really cares about his students and definitely shows in class. Enjoyed taking this course and 3 Phase Systems!
he is the best proff, most understanding professor ever and very helpful
Quite boring in my opinion. Makes mistakes, doesn't quite seem like he's prepared to teach this class. Sometimes he'll go very very slowly (snail pace), sometime the material will just fly by. Very easy marker. Labs are useless.
One of the best prof's that one can come across during their undergrad Engineering Studies. Knows his stuff very well. Has opportunities for questions after class. Makes us do many practice problems during class. Prepares his own assignments (which very few of them do). BEST PROF!!! Don't miss the opportunity to listen to his childhood stories.
Great Prof! He really loves to teach, and it shows. He does not tolerate any distractions during class which is GREAT for making a quite classroom (Don't make him angry!). He is very clear and understanding and genuine wants you to learn, even if their are people [person] in class that ask redundant and unnecessary questions (L01... you know).
very nice and helpful. so stressful trying to text in his class though. exams are tough. much harder than the assignments etc.
This guy is the definition of a great prof. Cares for his students. Has good notes. Exams are fair and so are the assignments. Quizzes are a bit tricky though. Do your work in this class and with his help you will succeed for sure.
Very clear in his teaching and extremely enthusiastic. Organized notes. Quizzes/Exams are fair. Can't ask for anything more.
Uses same methodology to teach ENEL 341 for 469, but in my opinion he's better for 341 than 469. 469 stuff is straightforward, quizzes and exams are relatively easy, but the assignments can be a bit overwhelming at first -- but once you look at the solutions and you actually try to understand it then you're good to go. Still, I attend all lectures.
Great professor. Manages to be enthusiastic even though he spends all his day teaching. Very available for office hours. Answers questions thoroughly no matter how basic. His assignments are great practice tools.
He is really enthusiastic despite the fact that most of his time is spent teaching others. He totally easy to understand and clearly answers ANY question. Didn't buy the text book, his notes make a perfect one, even though they are compact :) He really cares about his students' performance and will discipline whoever dears disturb them in class ;)
It was so nice to hear on the first day that he loves teaching. He really cares about his students and is super patient with even the worst questions and never makes you feel stupid.good notes; its annoying how he adds onto the circuit after you've drawn it.I wish he would just tell us the answer, instead of forcing us to guess, then correcting.
Let us out 2 minutes early yesterday, so gets A+!! He teaches very clearly and is patient. Answers every question no matter how simple or "stupid".
A very good prof. He is very skilled and practiced and really fun to be around. Reminds me of the green teletubby
Mr. Haque is an outstanding teacher to say the least. What makes him so amazing is his level of patience. He is NEVER annoyed by the questions, no matter how many times they are asked or how stupid they sound. I have personally bombarded him with questions many times and every time he answered each one of them very clearly. STRONGLY recommended!
this guy sucks take it from me i got 100 on the 225 final if u wanna get a gd mark u gotta study like helll and don't bother with those weak assignments do atleast 7-10 exam papers for the final
ENEL 519 Photovoltaic Systems, did not do a good job teaching this class. Felt like I should come out how to design a photovoltaic system, this was not the case. If you understand all concepts he teaches CRYSTAL CLEAR you will do fine. Must have a good grasp in diodes to understand everything.
he's awesome !!
Better than Bartley and Fatouche, enough said.
Dr. Anis Haque is very passionate towards teaching his students and always tries his best to help his students. His notes are very good as he does examples that prepare you well for exams. Class is not that hard if you attend regularly and take notes. I recommend sitting in the front while he is teaching if you want an A.
Awesome prof as always!! If he's teaching a manditory course, you should by all means put the effort to modify your schedule and have him as your prof; it's 100% worth it if you're interested in learning a lot and not just getting marks.
Dr. Haque should be a professor at MIT. He is engaging, challenging, but also incredibly helpful. He describes things in a very straightforward and helpful manner, and is always willing to break it down further. The only reason I gave him a 4/5 in easiness is because he tends to challenge his students to think. THAT IS NOT A BAD THING! 10/10
Simply outstanding.
Dr. Syed Anis Haque is my best prof. at the University of Calgary. He is PASSIONATE, ENTHUSIASTIC, EXCELLENT style of demonstrating, crystal clear of lecture delivery, TAKING CARE of each and every student regardless to front or back row, DEPTH of knowledge, FRIENDLY, FLEXIBLE, REASONABLE, GOOD ADMINISTRATOR (as good control overall the class.
Teaches course with passion. The main issue is the quizzes are too long to complete in 20min and there are no part marks. The class experience is enjoyable but I guarantee that every test and exam is difficult and marked harshly (especially near the end of semester).
Dr Haque is a nice guy and his class makes sense. When I took 469 (this was like 3 years ago now), he made a lot of mistakes during lectures, which lead to much time wasted fixing those. I think it's hilarious that 225 students are commenting on that being a hard class. Ha!
Good prof. Waste a lot of time drawing the circuits instead of going over the material. Go to class but learn course on youtube to save time.
he made me love circuits after hating it for so long.
Took a couple of classes with this professor. Easily one of the best professors in electrical. He seems like he loves to teach. He wants students to understand concepts. He is very approachable and fair. His exams are tricky in a good way (makes you think). I wish there were more example questions in his Nano class because of the amount of material
He says attending lectures will help you do well in the class, but that's a lie. Hard final...
Dr. Haque is an Amazing professor, he teaches to not only analyze circuits but understand them as well. His tests test your knowledge well instead of being able to solve ridiculously long questions. Zero Complaints, one of the best profs in ENEL. Look forward to having him for 469 as well.
Nowhere near as good for 469 as he was for other courses like ENEL 343 and ENGG 225. He states that he does not want his students to memorize equations, yet in lecture that's all he seems to be interested in covering. His 469 felt more like equation memorizing than systematic circuit analysis and understanding. Course left me feeling disappointed.
He gives good lectures but is terrible in every other way. He gives hardly any practice problems those he does gives are unrelated to what is taught and tested. I handed in a quiz early, after I left he told the answer to one of the 2 questions to the whole class which I got wrong. No solutions for finals, tells us not to memorize but u have 2 etc
He have worst notes ever. If you dont go to classes, then the notes wont help you much. He thinks he is good but he is not. The other option for ENEL469 is Mintchev and he is even worse than Anis Haque. He is better of the two bad options! He tricks you in exams and is really strict. Strictness is ok if he was a good prof but he is not.
Does not have many examples Does not post solutions to old finals Does not reply to emails
His assignments, midterm and exams are close to impossible. He barely covers what he asks for in his assignments, midterm and final. Makes so many mistakes in class, but if you write down what he wrote down during lecture, he will say its wrong... AVOID AVOID AVOID
His lecture notes are good but you would have to pay very close attention to what he is saying. He refuses to answer your questions if he has not seen you in his class for every lecture. Not the best prof but the courses is do-able.
Amazing prof. Enough said
Terrible prof.
One of the most caring profs I've ever had. His lectures can be hard to follow, but just be sure to review your notes and you'll be fine.
Amazing prof. Always encourages questions and won't ever get mad at stopping him during a lecture and asking questions that may seem "trivial" to everyone else. He always ties back the lecture content to relevant (not part of the course) real life applications so you're inspired from how amazing circuits really are. Oh and AMAZING and clear notes.
He's caring and all, and he ABSOLUTELY LOVES when people ask him questions. But he is definitely the most boring prof I've had all year. His 75 minute lectures seem like an eternity, making it hard to pay attention.
Crystal clear explanations with a lot of enthusiasm towards the course. Definitely a course to look into if you haven't.
I enjoyed his class. If I missed any, I would fall behind, so don't! I found the subject matter difficult personally so I had to work hard to pass. The assignments are tough and unforgiving (can only put in the answers in once so make sure they're right). Labs were fun.
Man was I lucky to choose ENEL 469 with Dr. Haque. I came into this class with a somewhat weak circuits background (my fault) but stuff like calculating thevenin resistance was beyond me. I asked him for help with this and many other concepts throughout the course and he does his best to make you understand even if you should know this already!
Discouraging Proof ever!
His lectures are not insightful or helpful. The course material is relatively simple but he does not cover it accurately in class, even though he insists that you can not miss any lectures. He does not post useful notes online and his assignments are long and tedious. Exams are brutal, you have to do lots of practice questions.
Worst Prof. Wants students to fail. Doesn't care what your reasoning is for missing class. He will go out of his way to fail you if you dont attend his lectures. Exams have nothing to do with course content. Can do literally all assignments, practice problem sets, tutorial problems, and still fail the exam because of his unfairness.
Lecture notes are not helpful or organized, assignments are tedious and long, MAKES you go to lectures and then has the most boring lectures in my whole degree. No useful help with online notes and then tries to drive in the point that he cares about his students but its really a lie. Labs are long and tedious, and exams are brutal for no reason.
The material really is not that hard. But Dr. Haque makes it hard with his scattered lectures, poor notes, unhelpful labs, and assignments. He jumps from topic to topic, and does not do complete proofs. It does not help that he left for 3 weeks to go on vacation half way through the semester. Just awful.
Anis Haque was my favourite prof in third year. His lectures are interesting and they are very important as he asks lecture specific questions on exams. He does not do a lot of derivations but he always tries to explain where we get all the formulas from. He welcomes all questions regardless of how trivial they are. Don't go on phone in class!!
Completely unreachable outside of class, as he will simply ignore emails he doesn't want to respond to. Terribly drawn out and boring lectures, but attendance (in a fourth year course) is mandatory and worth 15% of your final grade. The final group presentation allowed selection of topics which he then ignored and gave random topics. Steer clear.
Okay, you have to go to class. However, the lectures are amazing! Haque makes a difficult subject relatively easy to understand. He leaves you with clear, easy to follow notes. Almost all the assignment problems can be found in your notes and they are indicative of the midterm and final questions.
Ignores e-mails or any constructive feedback. Never provided an overview of course material. Lectures are meandering and unstructured, but are the only way to get any semblance of notes, which he refuses to post. The course material is fairly straight forward, but his Draconian policies make the learning process needlessly difficult. Not impressed.
SUPAA NODE, if you know it one of the best professors in the electrical department made this course easy to understand lecture notes are not posted on D2L so do attend them. A great man when you go to his office hours helps you a lot during the time.
By far, the worst professor I have ever been forced to be taught by. Notes are at times carbon copies of assignments which is the only positive part, but does not teach you how to deal with weird and tricky adjustments he does on exams. You NEED to attend and pay attention or he will personally address it, or call you out in class. AVOID if you can
Don't be fooled by his initially friendly demeanor. He is grossly incompetent. Provides no additional resources to prepare for exams (assignments, solutions to past finals, textbook readings). And the questions on an exam will be much harder than what was covered in class, if it was covered at all. Worst prof of my degree.
Gave long answer questions and gave only marks on the final answer.
Unsure why Dr. Haque gets a lot of hate. From my experience in 469+562, his classes are quite easy - loads of free marks from assignments/labs, and quizzes are ridiculously simple. He bends over backwards to accommodate for his students, ensuring that they are learning effectively. Haque also does a lot to bring a positive+safe class environment.
You are probably reading these reviews and thinking "wow he must be an awful professor who is not good at teaching." Remember, engineering students, LOVE to complain and whine about anything when things don't go their way. The class was fine, grading was a little ambiguous but the quizzes and exams were fair and plenty of resources were provided.
He's goes over a lot of good examples (similar to questions on test) and is very caring. He will always answer your questions. Even if you angrily blurt out your questions in the middle of his sentence every 3 minutes and yell at him when you don't understand something, he will still answer politely.
First A+ ever in a class thanks to this guy. Most caring and accommodating prof I have encountered so far in my degree.
It is clear the Dr. Haque is passionate about what he teaches. The course is logical and clear. As long as you put in the effort, it is easy to get a decent grade.
ENEL469 is a difficult third year course. Dr.Haque makes it digestible. He is cares very much about his students. For example, he would thanks students for asking questions. His notes are not enough to prepare for quizzes and exams, so don't miss class. He is one of the stricter professors, be punctual when it comes to assignments, tests, etc.
anis was passionate abt his job.He is jus very unorganized and he has sum weird unwritten rules were he will give u a 0 if he is focusin on that topic that week (even if sum of ur steps r partially correct).u hav to attend his lectures b/c he doesnt post anythin online.this is a difficult class naturally so its on u to pass.
He's very disorganized. All quizzes and exams are based on what he covers in his lectures. So as long as you attend and pay attention, you'll be fine. He is a fair grader.
Haque is a great professor who honestly wants all of his students to exceed and is very well rehearsed in the course material as he answered any question I had throughout the semester with a very understandable explanation. Pay attention in the lectures, quizzes are based on practice problems, do them if you want a good grade. Favorite prof so far!
Positives: - Very friendly and positive instructor - Very knowledgeable to ask questions Negatives: - Field trip to the nano fabrication lab is testable material (Why?) - Student presentations at end of term is testable material - Absolutely zero practice available for exams or quizzes, and never clear what actually will be covered
Lectures were simple, engaging, and fun. The course is well organized and has a good pacing. He provides clear instructions about the deadlines and expectations from the very beginning. Also does a good job of answering questions and makes sure everyone is respected in his class
Dr. Haque is a fantastic professor! He is caring and very engaged with the students. You will do well in this course if you attend the lectures and pay attention. He often discusses concepts more in-depth in class than is covered in the lecture slides.
he is good at teaching
Good at teaching and rarely makes mistakes. Online slides are available but goes more in detail in class so attendance is recommended but not mandatory. He does use the blackboard so sit in front of the class to see better. Overall great professor and relevant assessments
haque tuah
ANIS HAWK TUAH SPIT ON THAT THANG!
Make sure to go to lectures and take good notes since he writes a lot of it on the blackboard. He sometimes takes a while to explain things but he only has good intentions behind it so just be patient. As long as you do the practice and examples done in class you will do good on the exams. Very interesting course and Haque made me appreciate analog
