Ahhh, RUN....Dont take her class, Im a Bio major and had difficulty
Gen Chem is tough, but she will go the extra mile to help u lean a lot
No Comments
chem is hard, she will help u if u go to her, if the entire class is doing bad she will give bonus quizzes
expects a lot..but learn ALOT ..i reccomend
Expect to learn! This class is not for those who wish to skip class and miss homeworks. Though if you move onto high chem classes TAKE HER! Her lectures are so clear I barely read the book besides doing the homework. Definately passable
Very hard. Tests very difficult. Do not take this teacher unless u have to. There are others that are a bit easier. Look around.
Good teacher, don't go unless you expect to learn. Her voice is like a drill in your head though.
Again you will have to go to class, study, and pay attention, but You will know you stuff by the end of the semester. And thats the whole point, isn't it?
very good and helpful teacher. class is hard but she is available anytime.
Worst professor I've ever had, she never helps you out and doesn't care if you understand or not
her voice! her voice! i can still hear her voice! if you pay attention, you will learn. but if you're one to skip class because of a hangy, do not take this lady. she will tear you up
I am failing this teachers course and Im an A student and I have been trying very hard. This lady is very very hard. Do not take this teacher unless you absolutely have to.
Worst teacher ever....very unhelpful and unavailable to help you. Seriously DO not take her unless you are smart and do not need teachers help.:(
very hard teacher, hard tests, but replaces the grades if you do better on the final. if you can get through her class, chem 122 and the final will seem easy
if you do the work, the course is not hard. if you don't do the work, you will fail
I've never learned so much at once before. You are challenged to work hard but you will understand everything when you are done. She is helpful above and beyond the call of duty. Take this class seriously and you do well. Sit close, her voice is soft.
We were so far behind in lecture with Dr. Brown that our labs were always new material. Lab prof had to take 30-45 minutes each time to explain what we were supposed to be doing.

Brown is one of the best instructors I have had and definitely the most down to earth prof. in the chem dept. I went to her during her personal time and she agreed to talk to me about material. She is uplifting and enthusiatic about teaching.
Tests and quizzes are impossible. If you go to her for help during her office hours she treats you like you are a moron because you don't understand something. She clearly doesn't care how students do in her course.
Man, words cannot really explain how tough she is. I studied so hard and worked my butt off and still did bad. Really makes you feel stupid when u go for help. Would not recommend this lady. Take anyone but her.
She is the worst chem teacher ever, she is not helpful and makes you feel stupid when you ask her questions. I would not recommend her for anything unless you can teach yourself the material. Lacurts as my lab instructor had to teach lecture material.
Avoid taking her at all costs. Any teacher is better than her.
Very Hard, Dropped the class.
While knowledgable, she isn't interested in student aptitude for the course. If you come to her office she has the attitude that either you get it naturally or you're never going to get it. Quizzes are useless for studying.Tests don't reflect material.
This teacher is hard. If you aren't an A chemistry student, you will do badly. Take someone else.
She is pretty nice but sometimes a little difficult to follow. Her notes are long and complicated but she holds review sessions all the time so at least she is willing to help you out.
She is an extremely smart professor, but a pretty hard one. If you have time to see her during her office hours, definately go. She makes you think a level higher than generally needed, her exams are hard. She does not make the final exam, and if you get her material, the test will be like a joke :)
Awesome person, very good teacher...kinda crazy
WOW is all i have to say...she jokes about caffine addictions but once you have her you will see it is no joke. She is a sweet lady but an extremely hard teacher. She jumps around with topics and examples and nots are not always clear (esp when you go back on your own) MAD HARD TESTS bad quizes
Very interesting lectors...you must attend class...otherwise you will be lost...she offers alot of extra help during office hours...she explains things very well...she is very challenging but i can truley say i learned alot...you must work hard...you can't slack off
Challenging but offers lots of help. Sometimes behind on returning things but a good teacher in all. People told me to take someelse but I'm glad I took Dr. Brown. I found her nice and very willing to repeat info at a help season or after class. Made subject interesting and funny at times.
Nice professor and is always willing to help you outside of class. Yeah, sometimes she jumps around and makes u think at a higher level but it is pretty hard to fail the class. If she sees ur trying she will definitly pass u regardless.
Very hard but makes you learn the material. study and you'll do fine but don't and your GPA will suffer. Very smart but has some trouble bringing the material down to a students level. Take this class and the final is easy but class tests are harder than other professors
Her quizes are insanely difficult, and the only reason I did well on the tests was because I went to help sessions before the tests with actual teachers who could teach! She doesn't go over material well, and refuses to help outside of class...i missed class once and when i went to her for help her words were,"wish you didn't miss that class huh?"
She is so nice and helpful. She comes in on weekends to help. She is awesome. I love her. She truely wants you to learn.
so nice n always willing to help u out! definitely not an easy class. have 2 read n study! but she is a good teacher.
Here's the real scoop on Prof. Brown: She's a really nice person. And she tries genuinely hard to teach the material easily and clearly, BUT it's nevertheless a HARD course. The lab isn't too bad, but her tests are very difficult/challenging as are the homeworks and quizzes. People who just wanted an easy base Chemistry course shouldn't take Brown.
Teacher is very nice, but extremely hard! She teaches like its a graduate level course. Will take off points for anything. She thought our lab teacher graded to easy so she took over grading our lab quizes and seriously effected alot of students grades. Pray for a C
hardest class of all times!!! run run run ....you will work ur butt off all semester and hope and pray for a c
if you are a chem/pre-med major i would take the exams and quizzes may be difficult at first but you become more prepared as the semester goes on. be prepared so spend a lot of time working on assignments and studying and i would go to all possible help sessions she explains things very well and loves to teach. her teaching = amazingly EASY FINAL
she's a great teacher, but her exams are hard. you need to know what are you doing to pass her class.
EXTREMELY HARD professor. She is excellent in explaining concepts in terms you can understand but her class is extremely demanding. Expect to devote a lot of time in homework and studying. By the end of the semester about only 10 % of the class remained who had not dropped.
Dr. Brown is an excellent teacher. she explains everything very well. tests may seem hard but if you do the homework and the practice tests you will do well. if you are not willing to put the effort in you will do bad. great for premed. i would def take her again and have told some of my friends to take her. she is always available for help.
she is so impossible! she would teach barely the basics in class and then the exams would be so hard! she gave mountains of homework that took about 6-8 hours a week to complete. her tests were a mess and she just was not clear on alot of things. i used to love chemistry but she made me hate it!
Excellent teacher, very enthusiastic. Uses powerpoints, practice problems, and sometimes demonstrations in class. Online hw due each Tuesday night, and written hw due each Friday evening. Usually gives a quiz each week (not always). Exams are pretty difficult but if you go to class and do the hw and the practice exam you should at least pass them.
This teacher is very difficult. You have to COMPLETELY understand the material in order to do well in this class. She is irritating in class and there is a lot of homework due each week which is a pain. If you can, try to take another teacher.
She really knows her stuff and has high expectations but will do everything possible to help you along with mr. lacurts. She is a tough grader on homework and is meticulous about "her way" of doing the work. Expect to put in a lot of time.
She is a great teacher, although she is very hard. but she is willing to help you as much as you need it. If i had to take chem 121 again i would still take it with her. you will get to know a lot about her life but she uses her family in the examples. she is a great teacher. you should take her class
This class is a physics/chemistry course combined. She is an okay professor but she is a very hard grader, don't expect to not have anything marked off on test and assignments, every detail is crucial even if it doesnt seem like it. Overall i would recommend her as a teacher but not for a good grade.
Its hard but come on its chem combined with physics. Anita brown gave us alot of homewrok and quizzes every week but they were really helpful to do. You must study the stuff outside of class if you expect to pass. Nice lady. I was scared at first but I've grown to like her and understand her. Trust me it will get easier. I'd take her again!
Don't take her. She expects more than the other teachers do, and is on a whole curriculum of her own. She is nice and tries to help you, but unless you are a big fan of chemistry, I wouldn't recommend her at all!
She is a great teacher but she does expect a lot from you. You will need to work hard and study a lot. I did well but it came with a lot of work. Do the homework. it takes a while but it shows you get how to do everything. if she taught Chem 122 this semester i would take her, but she wasnt. I love going to her class and i came in hating chem.
I took this class during summer session...and she went through the WHOLE book...but the crazy part is i understood everything. but she does expect a lot from you. truth is if you have to take more chemistry classes down the road she is someboday you would want to take. because by the time you leave her class you will understand what you are doing.
i was terrified of her at first, but once you learn her style shes not that bad. lots of homework, and you will NEVER get full credit, she marks off on every little detail. you have to study for tests if you want to do well. very helpful, i would recommend her to anyone who is willing to do work, because there's a lot of it!
She is a very demanding teacher who thinks that Chemistry is the only class a student takes in college, evident from the amount of work she gives compared to other Chem professors. She has a rule that you MUST go to 5 hours of tutoring a week or you get points deducted on your next exam. DO NOT TAKE ANITA BROWN, SHE SHOULD BE FIRED.
Dr. Brown does know what she is talking about but in my opinion she is a horrible teacher. She teaches extremely fast and only to one learning style. It is extremely hard to keep up with her. I studied really hard, did all assignments, and went for help twice a week for about 4 hrs and still had a very difficult time.I would never take her again
Brown is an incredibly demanding professor. She expects everyone to know all the material and plays favorites. This class was basically my life all semester as she requires you to go to office hours, do concept sessions, and have around 15 pages of homework problems due each class. Try not to take her, shes the toughest in the department.
Professor Brown is VERY demanding... I took her for Chem 101 twice because I didnt pass the first time. As long as you go to her class and get help from her or Mr. LaCurts you WILL pass. It's a lot of work, but I also feel like I learned a lot by taking her.
funny and helpfull but alot of work..teaches really fast
Honestly she is not a bad teacher. Take very clear notes and read the book. DO NOT DO THE CONTRACT! It is wayyyy too much work to handle. Do not take if you are not willing to do the work!
She was a horrible teacher. She doesnt know how to teach material that students will understand & she teaches way too fast. She picks favorites & always has some rude comment to say to the class. The only way you will pass her class is if you get help from Mr. LaCurts b/c he actually wants students to be successful & pass!
Dr. Brown was a great teacher. She is very clear and understandable. All these bad comments about her must be coming from people that didnt TRY. You have to pay attention, take good notes, and get help when you need it and you will pass with no problem. I even got an A and im not a chem major. I would recommend her and take her again.
Extremely hard and assigns an unbearable amount of homework every class. Had to drop this class before the first exam in order to save my GPA
this woman is not the greatest teacher. she acts like chemistry is the coolest thing in the world and wants everyone to enjoy it. tests are hard, she moves really fast in lectures AND lectures past the time to get out. she didn't answer to my emails either. i wouldn't suggest her.
Very difficult. Not willing to help her 101 students. A lot of work, and the tests are very hard. Too many components to the class. I wouldn't recommend her.
My favorite professor ever. People giving bad ratings are those who obviously are either lazy .... or stupid. No lie though the class is difficult and has alot of work, but Dr. Brown will make you learn chemistry and prepare you for future courses, I even found it interesting and fun. she offers so many help sessions too. Overall a Great Teacher
Dr. Brown is a pretty polarizing teacher. Many will say they dislike her, but I think the big problem is that they take her for 121, and those that expect it to be a cake walk end up being shell shocked. She assigns a lot of homework, and it is difficult, just like her tests. But she is extremely helpful and I'm much better off for taking her.
Very difficult teacher. She does have some office hours where she will help. Tests were tough, you need to review EVERYTHING to get an A.
DO NOT take her, especially for 101 or 121, if you are expecting and easy chem class. Take her if you are genuinely interested in chem, or else be prepared to put your life on the back burner for the whole semester just so you can pass. Go to LaCurts for help, and study HARD! Difficult homework and tests, though she is enthusiastic about her job.
She gives out a lot of homework and her tests are almost impossible to get a high B or A on. Besides that she will make sure you know chemistry and if chemistry is your major you better take her.
This class is a ton of work and will take up a lot of time but you will know the material. The only reason I'm even getting a high B is from going to Mr. Lacurts for help sessions. Expect 20 pg homework assignments twice a week. But she is a good teacher and you will be well prepared for her tests if you do all of the assignments and get help
She loves chemistry and is very ethusiastic about it. Her class is very challenging and requires a lot of work. In order to understand the material and do well, you must do the homework. She is willing to help.
Very challenging professor. Nearly impossible to take more than 2 other courses with this class. Willing to take as long as you need in order to understand a concept. Does NOT get frustrated with a student trying to understand something. Very easy to approach.
Terrible..I would never recommend her to someone who is not very good at chem. She is very very demanding and intimidating with the amount of work you have to do. Went to her office hour and she didn't help me at all. DON'T TAKE HER
Dr. Brown is great at letting you know what needs to be done. Unfortunately that's consistently 12 and 15 page homework assignments. Expect those due almost every class. Exam grades in the 60s are apparently excellent grades. Don't take this class if you're taking over 8 other semester hours. WAY too much work (and I'm reeeeally not lazy)
Absolutely hated this class. It destroyed my gpa.. I still do not understand why education majors are required to take this class. Take a different teacher if possible. I hated her, she would thrive off of us not understanding the material and would laugh. Can't wait to take it again...NOT. I HATE CHEMISTRY.
Words cannot begin to describe how difficult she made this course. I'm a science major and not lacking intelligence or motivation but those 2 things alone are not enough to get through the course. I only had 12 credits that semester and barely passed. Chemistry isn't hard, she makes it hard. Be prepared for the toughest teacher you'll ever have.
dr brown is a tough teacher but your a bio pre-med major or some other major that requires more chemistry past 121 I would definitely recommend her. the 15 pages of homework a night suck but it makes you understand the concepts that you will build on in chem classes to come. its hard but you learn it whether you want to or not.
She is a tough professor but she is willing to help and there is plenty of opportunity to get help. she gives a decent amount of work but it makes you really understand the material. I definitely recommend taking her if you have to take levels past 121!
good teacher, very passionate bout chemistry
DO NOT TAKE HER COURSE IF YOU ARE GOING TO TAKE ANY OTHER CLASSES!although she is very passionate about chemistry she expects you to give an arm and leg for this class. Assigns 30 pages of homework each week that aren't like anything covered in lecture and exams are even worse. Wound up withdrawing bc I have a heavy course load and can't stand her
VERY difficult class. Makes chem WAY harder than it needs to be. Assigns about 30 pgs of HW sometimes more. What she teaches in class/whats on HW AREN'T on tests. She's the type that instead of teaching hard stuff in class will wait til test to challenge you. AVOID her cause chances of getting an A/B are slim to none. Good luck even getting a C.
She is TERRIBLE! I think the poor woman has entirely too much on her plate and needs to maybe stop teaching and just do the studies and be the head of the department. SHe acts like you already know everything and does not tell you how to do things she just gives examples. She NEVER responds to emails and her tests are excruciating.
She was a very good teacher and explained everything clearly. She gives all paper homework and sometimes it is a lot, but is usually pretty easy. The exams are more difficult because she likes to trick her students, so pay close attention to detail when taking tests and explain all your steps.
She is good as a person but as a teacher not so much. She is most helpful during office hours. Class pace is fast and she goes fast when doing workout problems. Tests aren't too bad, just pay attention. She holds reviews for the exams. I still hated the class though.
She was a very nice lady but as a teacher I found her to be unclear. I did not have an SI session offered when I took her class but going to one would have FOR SURE helped. This class requires tons of time and work.
She gives at least 20 pages of homework each week. Her tests are HARD. This class is very fast paced. Unless you understand chemistry easily GET A DIFFERENT TEACHER!
Although she gives 15-20 page homework assignments, you have a week long period to do them & they are not extremely difficult. Class is fast paced so you should pay attention. She shares a passion for chemistry as do I which makes the class more enjoyable. Office hours & concept sessions are made available and she is enthusiastic about giving help
She is helpfull; but their is about 40-60 other people she is also helping out... she doesnt belive in online homework so all her assignment are old school (paper and pen). If you miss a class you miss 5 days of work(seriously). you get 2-5 packets a week and each packet is about 4 back to back worksheet
DO NOT TAKE CHEM w HER. Her class is a nightmare. Assigns 15-30 pages of homework a week, Tests are extremely hard 90% of the class doesn't finish, Requires you to attend 2 office hours and concept session outside class before exams, requires you to watch 30 min lectures online outside of class. Completely unreasonable for a 100 level class.
She wasn't very helpful when I needed help. She has like 15 other students in her office and I couldn't get one on one help. It was frustrating. I had to get help from the lab professor instead. She assigns so much homework. I wish she would explain things better. I would not take her class ever again.
I had so many people tell me to drop her class because it was so difficult but I am so happy I didn't. She is extremely intelligent, interacts with everyone in the class, and MAKES you work for your grade. I highly recommend her to anyone who was eh about chem I. She makes everything crystal clear.
As a freshman, her class was a headache. Takes forever to get assignments back and tests are usually failed by everyone, and HW is usually more advanced than stuff in class (lots of office hours though). Nice and knows her stuff, but the only people who haven't dropped this class by now have a look misery on their face. Take another professor.
Dr. Brown is an amazing teacher. She has a passion for chemistry and explains any problem in a way that students will understand it. alot of homework but at end of semester it dies down. She's a tough grader so pay attention to detail(units, s.f.). makes you work for your grade but does give extra credit. Take her to understand chem not for easy A
She wants to convince you that you are not happy with this class because you don't understand quantum. however she doesn't know everyone hates this class because there is no logic beyond her grading. it's just you can not make her please at all. if you had this class with a different instructor but same exams and workload you could still get A.
DONT"T LIKE HER :'(
Dr. Brown was really difficult only because she was picky about how you did your calculations. Otherwise, she was always available, even as the head of the department, and really helpful. If you played by her rules, you would do very well. Sig figs and factor label are tedious but once you get the hang of them, you can do really well.
Dr. Brown is an extremely difficult teacher. I only had her for Chem 121, but she definitely prepared me for 122. She is very interesting, though her tests are extremely lengthy and if you don't do the workout problems first, you will not finish.
Was very clear and precise from the start that her class is more difficult than other teachers because she forces you to understand the reactions and equations rather than just memorizing them to pass. Her exams are very long but if you did the homework and went to her office hours for help than you should be able to manage a B on them. Great Class
She does give a lot of homework but you'll be thankful for it because it helps to understand the material better. She's there to assist you through her group office hours that she makes, take your homework there. She creates time if you need it, there are SI sessions and other office hours for other teachers. She's dedicated to helping her students
Dr. Brown wants you to succeed she is just an intense professor. She is a very tough grader and her tests are difficult. She has office hours and is on campus a lot so it is easy to get help. Don't bother asking for extra credit/extensions. Do the work and ask for help and you will most likely pass the class. Put in the time and you will succeed.
There is a lot of unnecessary bad talk about Dr Brown. She wants her students to be successful and works really hard to do that. She has a ton of office hours and will always help. She makes her class difficult and assigns a fair amount of homework to make sure students understand. When it comes time for the final you will be glad you took Dr Brown
Expect 15-30 pgs of written homework a week, as well as multiple online assignments which take anywhere from 30 min-1.5 hrs Doesn't explain material well, and words questions to try and trick students. Expect to teach yourself the material if you want to pass. Lectures are a waste of time and make material more confusing.
I have never been so happy to get a B in a class. Take this course if you are not afraid to work hard for your grade. Exams are really long, so do the workout problems first. She is a hard grader, but always puts time aside to help. Complete her practice exams that she posts. Do well in lab to boost your final grade! START THE HOMEWORK EARLY!
she is very helpful
I did not take her lecture but I had her for lab. She is the toughest grader that I have ever had as a teacher. She finds the tinniest little things and will mark off .25 points (probably just because you didn't date your paper). That's how hard she grades. She frequently cancelled her office hours and she barely ever responded to emails.
The hardest class I've ever taken, I've never wanted to drop a class more in my entire life. She over complicates everything and expects chemistry to be your whole life. Although she is passionate about what she does, she expects everyone to love chem as much as her, which is not my case. Avoid like the plague
Awful. Worst Class Ever. If you want to pass chemistry, choose another professor. Expect a huge workload, confusing and long exams, and difficulty understanding the material. She bails on office hours and gives homework that will take you 6+ hours on a weekly basis. Material in lecture vs. Material on test: completely different stuff.
Very tough grader and gives you an excessive amount of homework. Her tests and quizzes are extremely hard, and half the class usually fails. You can do well in her class if you study and maybe get tutored on the side, but even doing that I didn't do well. Nice lady, but don't recommend taking her.
Don't be fooled- Dr. Brown is a very difficult teacher. But her class is certainly manageable! You NEED to go to office hours, and don't start the homework late. But, if you do everything she says, you can get a good grade! There are three exams so don't write any of them off as easy even if you think you know the material. Good luck!
dr brown was the best professor i could ask for with the first chemistry course i took in college. while there is a lot of homework, she provided five or six office hours where you could come and ask questions. she provided a lot of study sessions for exams and really cared about how you were doing. i had her for both lab and lecture
dr brown was the best professor i could ask for with the first chemistry course i took in college. while there is a lot of homework, she provided five or six office hours where you could come and ask questions. she provided a lot of study sessions for exams and really cared about how you were doing. i would take her again
Dr. Brown's chem 121 class is extremely difficult but she is an awesome professor nonetheless. The homework helps you learn the material and her office hours are very helpful. Although her exams are hard, she offers extra credit on almost all of them. I would definitely take her again
I am so glad that I got Dr. Brown for Chem 121 Lab. Initially from what I heard from everyone was a hard ass and if you wanted an A they told me they shouldn't take her class. They were wrong . She's amazing and accessible all the time. Will push you to improve your mistakes and show you where you went wrong in calculations and in lab. TAKE HER!!!
Dr. Brown is an awesome lab professor. She will help you with any lab and she always helps you answer the lab questions. She gives a quiz at the beginning of every lab, but if you prepare for lab by reading you will be fine. She also explains lab procedures very clearly. Overall a great professor and very energetic!
Dr. Brown is great at teaching. However her organizational skills are lackluster at best. There is no logic to her grading as she grades on how she feels about you as a person. Beware when going to her office hours as you will get sucked into a 20 minute conversation about an irrelevant aspect of her life that you most likely dont care about.
Dr. Brown seems like a good professor on the outside as she offers numerous hours of help to her students. However, her grading system holds no logic and her main goal of teaching is to deduct points rather than help a student actually learn the material. Understanding the material holds little value as she only cares if you put down what she wants
Dr. Brown is a tough grader but you better be prepared to work your butt off. She offers a lot of her time to help her students and she has a nice sense of humor. If you are a lazy student do not take her.
I loved having Dr. Brown for lab! If anything was unclear she would always help, and she would also make you think for the answer. She is a very tough grader, but it makes you such a better student and it helps a lot if you go onto CHEM 122. Even though the labs are pretty easy, expect to be there the whole time.
Very nice and knows what she's talking about, however she can be very intimidating if you're a student that doesn't take criticism well. Labs can get confusing sometimes, and she is a very tough grader and has VERY specific criteria to follow for showing work. (You will get .025 points taken off for small things) Quiz every class for Lab.
I had Dr. Brown for chem 121 lab and she was really good! She is very willing to help if you have a question and is extremely accessible outside class. She has office hours every day. Her grading style is very messy and disorganized, however, she does not take off very many points. I would recommend you take lab with her!
Dr. Brown is very nice and willing to offer any help needed to reexplain things, but her lab was very confusing. She would teach a topic different than what we learned in lecture, and would mark it wrong if we didnt use her way. There is a quiz every lab and would give it to us within the last 5 minutes, even if we were done the lab for a while.
I had Dr. Brown for Physical Chemistry. This is one of the hardest courses at SU, but Dr. Brown curves so you will pass. You have to go to her office hours because the exams are almost exactly the same as practice problems. The way Dr. Brown teaches means you will know PChem extremely well--but you will also work hard. Get a study group.
Her lab is pretty hard, she's a tough grader. However, Dr. Brown is willing to explain anything you don't understand, so ask questions! And really study for the lab quizzes (every lab). She's very nice and plays music during lab.
I had Dr. Brown for Chem 121 Lab and it was moderately difficult. She would be willing to explain the concept in detail and help you out if you had a question. When she grades the lab reports, she is very picky and will knock off points for sigfigs, etc, but she does make this clear in the beginning. Overall, being in her lab was enjoyable.
Took her for my chem lab, she was very sweet and made the class enjoyable. She doesn't grade very hard but does expect good things from you.
Had her for lab and was so chill during lab, plays music and very outgoing. Provides clear videos that explain the lab so you will understand, an easy A if you take notes. Always available twice a week for office hours, and sometimes in the weekend. Almost always extends the deadline and sometimes allows you to resubmit if you did poorly, 10/10
Has terrible time management skills, takes forever to grade assigns. Plenty of HW, mainly tests are huge part of grade, has extra help all the time, shows up late usually, blames students for wasting time in class but she likes to tell irrelevant stories, if she doesn't get to lecture its your problem to learn & teach yourself doesn't go over it
This class was just a lot of work, but if you put it in youll get good results
She is the best professor here! She cares so much about her students and how they do, and will do anything to help them succeed. Her homework's, quizzes, and tests are very difficult though. Even though attendance isn't mandatory, don't miss a class, or you will fall behind and fail.
Dr.Brown grades to take off points. She is the only professor that takes off points for something called illegal math, which is doing a problem a different way then she wants them. I had her for both lecture and lab and I loved her in lab, but lecture not so much. Exams have nothing to do with study guides.
Very knowledgeable professor but doesn't know how to teach a general education course with students who aren't chemistry majors. Most of the content in the course has to be self-taught and she expects you to devote 3hrs a day outside of class studying and memorizing. Doesn't have a regard for jobs, hobbies or lives outside of her class.
I had Dr. Brown for lab and thought she was pretty good. She plays music during lab and will always answer any questions. The only issue I had was her grading system. Sometimes it felt like she would just take off points to take off points. Overall I liked having Dr. Brown, just beware that she's an insanely tough grader.
Dr. Brown is very passionate & knowledgable about chem. However, she's a very tough grader for a 101 class. She also expects us to basically teach us all the material ourselves. She flys through lectures, cramming information in until the last second of class and has been judgmental towards me whenever I'd ask questions. AVOID taking this professor
Dr. Brown is absolutely fantastic and my favorite teacher I have had at SU. She is kind and wants to genuinely help her students to succeed. Always up at crazy times but is always around to support you.
I really liked Dr. Brown & how her lectures are set up. She really cares about your grades and often offers extra credit opportunities for homework exams, quizzes. It's super easy to keep up with her class as long as you ask questions when you're lost & go to office hours when you need extra help!
Hands down the best professor I've ever had. She works with you until you understand it as long as you put the effort in yourself. She dedicates so much of her time to help out. Lots of homework problems to help you on exams. Very fun and well respect professor. Wish I could take her again for chem 121.
Dr. Brown is a great teacher but assigns lots of homework. You get homework everyday. I personally did not like the way the homework was set up. She also takes points off if its not her way. So be aware of that. Overall she offers extra credit for homework.
Dr. Brown is an AMAZING professor. With chemistry being a tough subject, she really knows how to explain topics in an extremely understanding manner. The only downside is that she will randomly publish homework due the next day (especially wknds) but she has office hours literally everyday if extra help is needed. Definitely take her class.
Dr. Brown is the BEST professor at salisbury university. If you get a chance to take her I would esp if you need to take multiple chem courses. Yes she gives a lot of homeworks but she does it so you understand and get strong with the basics. It makes the upperlevel chem classes SO MUCH easier. She also deticates SO much time outside of class to he
She is the best professor I had a Salisbury. Her class is tough and you have to weekly review the topics. She is very intelligent and is made to be a teacher. This felt like my first true college course, there are so many materials she gives us to review. The topics are hard but she breaks them down in an easy manner.
