Ann is the coolest teacher i have ever had. Yeah, maybe i was her favorite, but if you respect her, than she will respect you. She is fun, enthusiastic, and a fresh face to learning. Take her and have some fun. Some of you need it by the way you talk.A++

If you want an A, attend every class. wasn't sure what to give her on helpfuliness because it was a cake class. BEWARE: the class will play out like the Anne Byers show.

Best Class, EVER. Ann, is quite possibly now my favorite professor at Grand Valley. She made non-verbal one of the most interesting subjects i've ever learned. Very clear on what is on the midterm/final. Attend every class - your grade will be raised.

Ann Byars Show and she's good at it. I like her because she is very clear with what you should do to get an A. It is an intro class and she teaches it accordingly. I highly recommend her even though I do not know if her teaching style is different for tougher classes.

one of gvsu's best... i had her for 101, and just had to take her non verbal class. the key to excelling in her class are as follows: show up; don't miss more than 4 days; come to class on exam review days. that's it. oh, and don't put off the project until last minute.

This was my favorite class. I loved going to class and didn't want to miss it. You should definately take this class. You learn a lot just being in class and she gives real-life examples of what she's teaching.

Ann is an awesome prof. I looked foreword to going to her class everyday. YOu wont mind the attendance policy the class is so fun. She makes everything relate to real life and the "pod" activities are a nice way to spend Fridays.

The class was fine. If you had taken COM 101 with her, this is the exact same class. The tests and final project are very easy. If you want to learn something new, do not take this class.

Byars is awesome!!! Take her and you will love communications. The class is really easy and you never have any homework. She does talk loud on Fridays in case you have a hang over from the night beofre. All in all, awesome professor!!!

Ann was the best thing that ever happened to not only me but higher education higher education as a whole! She is way hot and has one of the best fashion senses I have ever seen!! She looks like an episode of Sex and the City! She is extremely intelligent and intellectual and I would reccomend her to anyone who wants to succeed in life!

Ann is a great professor! Her classes were interesting and she made taking my first 8am class worth it. No homework and 3 exams-which are really easy. This class is possibly the easiest class you'll ever sit through. Pod activities are really fun and you get to know other people in your class. Her class is definitely worth taking!

Don't think this class is a slack off easy A. Receiving that grade is very possible but you will need to put forth the effort. She is extremely clear with what you she wants. Make sure to practice your speeches. Take her if you want to become a better public speaker.

Take this prof if you want to have a good time in class. She is hilarious, and her stories make all the topics easy to remember. She also teaches her students about life after college (being in the workforce); which has helped tremendously.

Ann is the best instructor I've ever had! She is funny and energetic. The class is easy, but you learn a lot. There's no homework. You don't need the textbook except for vocab for tests, but you can borrow. I highly recommend her. Everyone loves her!

Ann is a very funny lady and easy teacher. She does take attendance, does not use black board and has no definite test dates until the week before. COM 101 was fun at times but also felt like a waste of time.

By far the most useful Prof. I had at GV! I continue to email with Ann on occasion when I have life questions. ie. What should I wear to a breakfast meeting, what should I order, when should I look in to starting an IRA? She was amazing and I would have taken her class multiple times. (I had her for COM295 and COM495)

She is one of the main reasons I graduated on time. I had her for COM295 & COM495 during my last semester, while also taking 4 production photography courses including my senior thesis. Had she not been clear and helpful I never would have been able to balance my load. You could say I got really lucky!

This class is more like the Ann Byars comedy hour, but that's not a bad thing. She keeps the material fresh and funny and has a lot of interesting out of text information. The class went downhill a bit during the semester, but it was still a lot better than my friends COM 101 class with a different professor!

She is hilarious and knowledgeable about the subject. My only complaint was that it was too easy because there was no real challenge, just a lot of insightful tips for communicating in the professional world. She has a great personality and I suggest taking her.

Professor Byars is awesome!! She lectures out of the book and doesn't use powerpoints so be prepared to take notes. She has a great sense of humor and keeps class fun. Tests are easy and she gives a study guide which will have everything on the test. Class isn't challenging but it's a 100 level. Definitely recommend taking her!

She is very easy going and made a class like speech, which can be extremely stressful for some people, very fun. I hated speaking in public, now I'm way more confident She gave a very clear instructions and examples of how to write and present a speech.If you have to take speech, take it with her!

Professor Byar's class was a lot of fun. She gives many great examples to go along the text. There's barely any homework and three tests during the semester. Absolutely recommend.

She is soooooo funny! (If you take this class you'll understand the reference). I enjoyed her stories and examples of metaphors far more than the textbook content. She's sassy, open-minded, and not afraid to express herself which is great for keeping your attention. This ENTIRE class is based off of metaphors. For an easy A, take this class.

You will never be bored in Ann's class. She is energetic, funny, and so entertaining to listen to. However, exams are not always consistent with what's talked about in class. In class discussions are more for fun than to prepare for exam, therefore much of the learning I did for this course was done outside of class from outline.

Ann is awesome! She is hilarious. Our grade was based on 30 online tests through Connect, which you have access to the book and the internet for. I love her real life stories that connects the material to real life. If you're looking for a really easy-going professor, a good grade, and some new knowledge. Definitely take her!

One of my favorite profs at GVSU. Class wasn't super mandatory and I still went to class everyday because I just loved hearing her talk! She has the best advice and was so funny! She really does an amazing job teaching things that students actually enjoy learning about and she did it in a fun way! Loved her soo much!! Highly recommend!

Online quizzes throughout the semester with a final paper. Ann was so funny and never made you feel discouraged even if you gave a wrong or obscure answer. She always found a way to build off it and use other's ideas to gain understanding for the overall group. Work in "pods" throughout semester, if you have her as a 6-9, you will get out early.

I had her for speech online, theres 5 main speeches and you have to complete 20 connect tests by the end of the semester. Shes really helpful when it comes to developing your speeches and gives you the tools you need to pass!

Having this class online made it really easy, all of the assignments were available from the beginning. When turning in your speeches Byars grades them in a timely manner and gives great feedback. She provides lots of examples of what your speeches and outlines should look like. Def would take it again.

I was extremely nervous to take a "Speech" class because I hate talking in front of people but Professor Byars made it so simple and fun! The reading assignments are all posted at the beginning of the semester which is super convenient. There are 5 speeches for the semester and Prof Byars does a great job laying out what is expected for each one.

super sweet lady!! the whole course is 4 speeches due though out the semester, then 20 or 21 McCraw hill projects that are due at the end of the year. She is willing to work with you, and she wants you to do good!!

This online speech class is a breeze with Professor Byars. She provides clear instructions, helpful feedback, and makes what could be a stressful course super manageable. Using unstuck study tools alongside the textbook helped me ace the assignments.
