Made a lot of mistakes and made the class extremely confusing. Always unprepared and unwilling to help.
She makes the test weird. She wants to ask the formula derivation--not cool. Average students can get 'B-' at least. She won't change B+ to A. No leniency over the grade.
She's too into deriving things during lecture rather than teach you how to do the math.
She is the best teacher. She writes good examples to understand.
I got A in Math 5A and 5B. Although her teacher is not very good, but her exams are easy...
Organized and prepared. Following her lectures requires sharp attention; textbook is your friend for catching up. Class sessions are routine and predictable(good). Inflexible with grades, will not accept late assignments and rarely gives EC's.
pretty straightforward and clear
Davis doesn't have enough of an understanding of the material that she teaching to really discuss any ideas beside what her notes provide for her. She often gets muddled following her own notes and wihtout her notes she has little to offer.
she teaches a little too fast ..
Mrs.Davis is a dedicated professor and thrives to make evryone understand core concepts of Math. She is always on time and prepared to teach. I highly recommend her for Math 3.
She teaches wayyyyyy too fast and is really annoying to listen to. Gives a lot of HW and does a lot of pointless note taking. overall quality was bad i ended up dropping because i couldnt take her course WAY TOO BORING!
good teacher though she does go through the sections too rapidly. she teaches well and if you dont understand something you can ask and shes willing to help. also look in your book, the answers are there too. theres also ec but grades are set in stone.
Mrs.Davis is the best. She makes a very complicated class(calculus) understandable and fun. she is fair and respects everyone. Her tests are fair..she doesnt ask for more than she has explained in class. Just pay attention in the class and you'll be fine.
I am not saying she is not nice, but she is unclear, if your not good at Math like I am you will be lost in about week 4, 75 percent is the minimum grade you can get to pass and the homework load is horrible and she does not collect it etc etc
Not too hard, not to easy. Very clear, and respectful. Provides occasional oppurtunities for a small group to use a small classroom for group tutoring. Always available and helpful in office hours, fair grading system.
A Nice and fair teacher. Even though she isnt that good at math, but her lecture are helpful indeed. The downside in her class is that she give LOADS of homework...and checks them too! Other than that she is highly recommended if you want a nice class.
fast paced and homework everyday. will give a question on the homework as the daily quiz. this counts for the homework grade. tests are fairly easy and grading is not too rough. teaches at a fast pace, but will stop to help. very nice and supportive.
Davis is nice. But she does teach fast and it's hard to keep up. Too much homework...skipped around chapters...hard to follow... but she is easy to talk to. will help when needed. give her a try...about 80% of her students pass. i was in the 20%...:(
she is the best math teacher. For me, her math5A was very easy to get A.
She goes a little too fast, but other than that she's a solid teacher.
Gives 4 exams and 4 homework packets. Drops lowest exam and lowest homework packet. Gives quizzes everyday, but if all homework packets are above quiz average, then quizzes dont matter.
she has strongly enthusiam in teaching math, tests are not very hard but time is short, need to remember difinition or you will lose lots points!! not hard...but kind of tricky because i dont like to memorize and write it down on test!! well...if there is no very easy teacher, you can take her
She is and awesome math teacher. Very enthusiastic and very helpful. She expects perfect definitions on math terms, so be careful. She drops your lowest test score and lowest Homework Packet score. I highly recommend her.
She makes math class boring.
Lectures are fast an unorganized-skips steps and loses students.Homework packets are hard and most of it doesnt help you on the VERY hard tests. Nice lady, but can't relay what she's trying to say.Better know your english or else you'll get docked massive points.Wait,I thought this was a math class?
Very funny! she's kinda crazy but if you take notes you will do fine. she is actually interesting to listen to because she has personality. Her tests are easy if you review your notes. and she requires a group proj. which is an easy "A".
she is not a great teacher, but not the worst compared to thoseat PCC. her tests are long and difficult in a short period of time. her homework packet is hell and worth 15% of grade. daily quizzes on homework. lots of 1-3 point E.C. she is nice, but gets frustrated quickly. i would take her
She's a pretty good math teacher. For the first time in my life, I actually understand math. Her tests are pretty easy for the most part.
If she was the last teacher on the planet, i wouldn't take her, she is disorganize and has no sense of humor. Her lectures are weak, If you want a great professor take Socrates. He makes her go beyond this planet..If you know what I mean..
I think she was ok, 5B is not easy stuffs. Test are not that hard compared to other 5B teachers. but homework package doesn't make any sense to me,since it s not relate to the test. I never took notes in her class and never paid attention to her lectures. I studied most of the text by myself. to me, go to class is time wasting..
If you are not good in math. she is not a teacher to take. she is good only when you know your stuff... For students who are already having a hard time DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!! Any way she seemed to not like students who do not like math... ha. ha.
Great Teacher! I just finished 5C, and had I not had her for 5B then I would not have made it through. Don't take her if you just want a grade, and don't take her if you don't have a work ethic. Its Calculus people, quit whining. If you want to succeed at the next level of Math, and beyond, then she is the right teacher.
she is the best math teacher i have ever had! she does not give up ona person. she never gave up on me when she noticed that i had test anxiety. she is the best and i recommend her to everyone who is going to take math. :O)
I have to agree with few comments about her, If you really want to learn I strongly suggest to take Socrates, he make's her look like C**P!haha Her test reviews are pointless, they dont relate to the test at all( "brain breakers")....if you have a strong foundation in math..then take her..
She is one of the worst math professors I have ever had! She does not know the material! Her tests reviews are a joke. Her notes are sloppy & unorganized. Her exams asks the most stupid questions that require no-math (i.e. reading comprehension questions from the math book!) Avoid her at all costs...
I met her in that thing they do before students come to their first year of school. She told me she had a class that was looking for seats. I was lucky to have met her. She is very nice and helpful. She goes over the homework everyday. Her tests are aabout 12 questions. She makes you fix them after for points. I would recommend anyone to take her.
she is the greatest teacher ever, she is extremely fair. And she is the best when it comes to teaching.
I wont go so far as to say she was a GREAT teacher. However, she did make the learning experience interesting and she was very clear in her explanations. A better than average teacher, she is very nice and understanding. Willing to help out any student in need, she is compasionate and really wants you to learn. If you get a chance, take her class.
If you go to her office hour, she will help you a lot. She explains Calculus very well (from the basic) so you could really get the class materials!! RECOMMEND!!
she expects way too much from her students
easy teacher!
she is very helpful and goes over the work over and over to make sure u know how 2 do it. She cares about the students and never gives up on no one. The way she teaches made me want to be a math teacher
Very Nice teacher & is helpful. She gives alot of chances to redo your test & she gives alot of chances for extra credit. I recommend her.
She is a cool person, she will help you in anything you need she is also very hot!!!!!
She is a nice person, but you can easily get lost with her. She gets too jumpy and you lose track of what she said. Way too over excited about math
Dr D is great. she is way too into math try to keep up. homework is from the book(best) or mathxl(no need book but ur on ur own) her tests are short and easy 20 Q's. takes role everyday plenty of extra credit and leave ur cell on she loves donuts.
Comes across a bit snooty at times but is mostly nice. Definitely knows her stuff. And yes, can be overexcited about Math, which might not be bad if you struggle with it.
Dr. Davis is very helpful. She is a very good teacher, I've always been bad at math, but the way she taught and helped out students got me an A. I hate math. GET HER. :)!
I've had her for 125 as well as 131. I failed math 125 twice before I had her and when I started mathpath, she helped me all the way through. Very passionate about math and knows her stuff. She will NOT let you fail. I don't try as hard as I should and I still manage to get B's in her classes.TAKE HER IF YOU WANT TO PASS AND GET ON WITH OTHER SUBJE
Took her last spring. I got to said she is great. I slacked off so many times in her class and barely even done anything I almost end up with a B in her class. She teaches really great and students can learn a lot from her. Not sure how how she is in Calc.
Dr. D is a fantastic instructor. Clear, and extremely helpful. Made 131 easy. Passed with an A.
doesn't know how to teach calculus. arrogant. doesn't care about students.
Nice lady for sure. Rough grader on tests. Goes through material way too fast. always says "this is easy" which makes a person feel kind of dumb if u dont understand
She is a good teacher but she does go pretty fast. She will help you if you ask. She tries to make class interesting but do you homework cause' it does help in the end but overall you should pass.
Strange work ethic and extremely inconsistent with her train of thought. Makes students watch online lectures, created by herself, that run on average 2-3 hours a pop. Not recommended for the lazy type or those who are not math majors.
Very chill teacher. Lectures are a hit or miss (her thinking is WAY out there) but grading is straightforward. I aced both classes; you have to be an idiot not to get a good grade in her class. There's so many pts in hw, open-note daily quizzes, partial credit on tests just for trying (questions all from hw), lowest grade dropped for the redo avg.
I honestly could not imagine a worse professor. The lectures are extremely well organized though, she follows own notes and basically makes it all sound easy and fun, but when it comes to the exams, they are awfully hard. Out of 45 people enrolled at the beginning of the semester, only about 10 remained in the class. do NOT take her
She's not the worst yet she's not the best prof. I'd say watch videos before going to her class so that you have a much better grasp of the concepts when doing hw. Her lectures are okay, sometimes she rambles about irrelative things. Go to her office hours, she'll makes things clear. Tests are pretty hard. Final is a bit easier, but still study. And do the hw AND re-dos!
Dr.D is an amazing 5A professor, she gives you insight and clarity to handle derivative and related rates and so on. However! when it comes to 5B she doesn't do so hot as 5A. Her exams spike in difficulty. Her after class reviews don't help much(sorta) difficulty is like 8/10. She's no "easy" but not impossible. Be ready for 5B
I took calculus 2 before so everything was a review for me and I ended off with an A, but this professor is definitely not easy. She does exam redos which kinda helped me out and those points go towards dropping one exam. Extra credit goes to homework and so on. You will NEED those points in her class. A lot of people dropped her class
Dr. D is an amazing math professor. It's really easy to understand her and if you're ever lost, she'll help you through it as long as you seek her for help. She truly cares a lot about her students, gives plenty of EC throughout the semester. My favorite part was the test redos. If you mess up on a test, that test redo will help you A LOT.
Whenever I think about Mathematics I will always think about Professor Davis, she was my favorite professor I have ever had in mathematics and wouldnt trade the experience with any other professor in the worold, not even from an Ivy league four year institution. She is geeky, very insightful and cares about her "children". Her clarity is golden.
I wish she teach 5B/5C Dr. D is an amazing professor! you will need to attend every single class and do the homework in order to keep on with the class. she makes of her classroom a safe zone where you will feel confident to ask question if you need to. you will enjoy her class! advice: bring your textbook to the lectures will help a lot!
Dr D is fantastic. I highly recommend her. I've never progressed or enjoyed math as much as studying under her. She is always available during office hours and really loves teaching. She understand math on a deep level and can teach it with simplicity. Take her if you have the opportunity.
Professor Davis is the best professor that I've experienced. Her teaching method forces you to read the textbook in advanced, and then you well understand most points before lecture. Despite the fact that she almost give no extra credit, the tests are easy if you study. Highly recommend to anyone
She is amazing. If you have the chance.. Definitely take her. My favorite. Ever.
I felt as if we were from different planets at first but as the class continued i was very glad i got her as a teacher. Her style of teaching in unorthodox but it makes you really learn the material. homework is 30% tests 45 and the final is 25. Dr D is awesome. I heard her tell a student their notation is wack the other day, that's when i knew.
I love Dr. D! She makes learning math fun and comfortable. It's so obvious that she loves what she does and that itself creates a great learning environment. Even if you are faced with any difficulties, Dr. D will not hesitate to help. She's SUPER nice and lenient, so don't be afraid to ask questions. Take her and you won't regret it.
Dr. D is a great teacher who really cares about her students. This is a Math Path class so a ton of homework and lectures are to be expected. Homework is 30%, tests 45% and final 25%. Also there are test correction and the average of all test corrections will replace your lowest grade (if it helps). She is a good teacher and i do recommend her.
I took Math Path for 7A & 7B with Dr. Ann Davis. There's a lot of work involved because it's math path, but as long as you do your homework you'll do fine on the tests. Dr. D cares about her students and doesn't make you feel intimidated. She drops the 5 lowest homework grades. You may use the pdf version of the math book.
You're better off learning Calculus from YT. At least that's what I did. And she doesnt really tell you what's on the test and throws you a surprise. Bad.
For math7A & 7B she's great but for math 5A & 5B stay away. She describes 5A & 5B "calculus is algebra on steroid" but that's exactly how I would describe her teaching. She's not consistent in her grading and her test review is a waste of time as it's never what's on the actual test. She grades HW & very picky so its highly probable to get 5/10.
Dr. Ann Davis is an amazing mathematician. I'm so glad to take mathpath with her without any regret. Her lecture and exam is very straightforward so ace an A you should do all of the assigned homework and also practice them until you fully understand since Math is about understanding, not memorizing.
I took her for MathPath 125/131 and wish I could continue taking 7A/B with her! She's awesomely encouraging, clear in her explaining of concepts and homework. It's a lot of homework/time investment, but she makes it possible. I'd highly recommend. She also does a good job of pointing out things that will be useful in more advanced classes.
Dr. D is a great professor, because of her I've enjoyed math. Although she gives a lot of homework, it really prepares you for the weekly tests and the final. She is very forgiving drops 5 of the lowest test scores and lowest test grade (but you have to do test redo's). I would for sure take her again, always wants the best for her students.
Super lovable lady! Doctor D is very passionate about Math and cares a lot for her students. Took her math path class last spring which was kind of challenging, but she makes it bearable. Be ready to stay up all night because she assigns a lot of homework! But overall, amazing teacher and would recommend her to anyone :)
Professor Davis was amazing. I took her for math path, it's an accelerated course, so of course there will be lots of homework. I'm not good at math, but I made it alive. You need to be in class in order to pass, unless you're good at math. She cares about her students, willing to come in early and stay late. Ask questions if you don't understand!
She is a caring professor and all but her notes are very unorganized. 12 people failed her course and only 19 were left after the final for math path. She tries to really help but needs to work on her notes. Spends too much time going over old homework problems, an hour+ but was concerned we fell off schedule and were behind.
dr. d is a super nice person and i love her as a person, she is very understanding but as a teacher she is a little tough when it comes to grading and she gives SO MUCH homework which can really make your grade go down
Great at teaching math, but her grading scale sets you up to fail. She assigns a TON of homework, but only grades 10 problems, so if you miss even one problem, your grade goes down. I had an 85% testing average and 56% hw average. Be prepared to devote all of your time to this class if you want to pass it. Read her syllabus carefully!!
Not the greatest professor around, assigns a good amount of homework every night due the next day. Lectures are quick but it is mathpath, most students dont understand fully. If you take the time to work with her youll understand the material better but office hours are usually packed with a bunch of students who dont understand the lecture or hw.
Professor Davis cares about her students. She offers extra credit and really cares that you pass. I took her for math path so everything was fast pace. Her notes are hard to understand so you really have to pay attention to what shes saying otherwise youd be lost. Exams are similar to homework she assigns. Drops a test.
Best math professor Ive ever had. I took her over a year ago and Ive not found another like her. Shes hilarious, cares about her students, and is always available to help. I wish she taught more than just math.
She's one of the best calc professors I've ever taken! I'd highly recommend.
Dr. D is easily one of the greatest people I've met. When a student was nervous about a test she said "Your value as a human being does not depend on this test". She cares about each of her students. As far as grading she will give partial credit on tests, she will drop your lowest exam and replace it with a redo score . No quizzes, and lots of hw.
Tons of homework (4+hrs). Tests are a mix of application and concept (1 definition, couple complex questions). Def on the harder side, but tons of partial cred. Her lectures are pretty good considering the time frame. 5 hw dropped and lowest test score replaced with test redo avg (free A). I imagine she's even better during a normal 16 wk course
Homework assigned practically every session. She tests concepts and does have office hours, Extremely chill and will help you out if you ASK. She is extremely patient as well. Read other comments for grading exemptions. Awards you for understanding material. Difficult if you don't know how to study correctly. Lectures are easy to understand.
Dr. D is one of the best math professors I have ever had. She is so sweet, and her lectures are clear. She is always willing to help.
not easy class at all
like the others have said: has office hours, drops 5 lowest hw scores, tests concepts, replaces lowest test grade with grade on final if the latter is higher. she got frustrated with the class at times. her lectures were basically the lessons from the textbook, never taught more than that. she's just average.
Here's the thing: Her class is hard but doable... You just have to really work for it. She really prepares you for math if you are a STEM major. For anyone who wants to understand math in a deeper level, I suggest taking Dr. Davis; very knowledgeable in her field. She makes you understand math rather than memorize it.
You have to be REALLY on top of your work and study in order to pass this class with a B or an A because the class is fast-paced and there are a lot of assignments. Tests are rough, but it definitely doesn't contain stuff that wasn't lectured at all. Don't take this class unless you are serious about math. Otherwise, you'll have a very hard time.
