..loves handouts, loves diagrams, loves outlines. you get an outline handout each class of what was covered which i liked. the whole process is very organized so maybe too structured for some people i guess but it worked for me. quite alot of info to learn/memorize but i felt i got a good understanding of biology from the class.

After taking a "not so structured" lab professor for BIO 102 i can truly appreciate DR. Evans. I liked the handouts, charts, and summaries. I felt i got a better understanding of the material from her than from my lecture. You know exactly what is expected of you, this week and next....it was alot of work but definately worth it.

Very structured. I had her for lab and lecture. She was a much better lecture teacher then lab. In lab she wasent very helpfull and expected you to know how to do things on your own but in lecture she gave you handouts which was a great study guide for the tests.

Everyone always complains about her however I really enjoyed her class and learned more from her than any previous teacher I've had. Yes she does give out a lot of assignments but its so you can better learn the material. As long as you study and "get the big picture" which isn't that difficult you'll do fine.

Dont sign up for this class if ur a slacker but still want an A try Mr Hornes class!! She often did give the Alien looks if you asked a question...def if she thought it was so obvious...Overall very informative, time consuming, WELCOME TO COLLEGE (more at the university level)

Dr.Evans expects alot, sometimes her tests seem full of trick questions/not worded well.Good lectures, provides outlines/power points, HW is based off lectures.I am disappointed with the grade I am going to receive for the amount of time I have invested this class.Spend ALOT of time studying specifics and use office hours. hard but worth your $$$

I disagree with most people. She may be confusing, but is willing to help. If you have a question she will answer. She may be a little tough but just study what she tells you. She mentions the book but doesn't teach out of it too often. However, if you simply skim the key points she mentions in the chapter you are good.

Dr. Evans Expect all students to start precieving them selfs as adults. She invision them to find problems and recommend solutions, she will follow up you response with a correct answer or tell you additional research is required. SHE IS A REALLY GOOD LAB TEACHER. SHE EXPLAINS THE MATERIAL WELL. LECTURE WAS OK. IF YOU ARE NOT A SERIOUS STUDENT AND UNWILLING TO STUDY YOU WILL FAIL HER.

She's tough, but has a lot to cover in a short amount of time. You have to make an effort. She gives you all the tools, so if you fail it's due to laziness. She really understands her subject and can explain it very well. Others have marked her down for expecting to be called "Dr Evans", but I think she earned it and people should respect it.

She is a bit eccentric but not deserving of the negative comments I've seen. She is very helpful and clear and even wrote the lab manual for no profit. She is generous with grading and has good intentions for her students.

This lady knows her stuff. She gives you every possible way to learn what you're supposed to - including lots of supplemental material online. She is open to seeing you during office hours if you need help. She's not the easiest, because you do have to work, but if you are going on to a BIO degree definitely take her, because you will learn alot

While Dr. Evans might not be the best teacher ever she is quite good. She tells her class she is a plant biologist primarily so ask her plant questions! She does try and be knowledgeable about her course though. I fully enjoyed her class. You have to be willing to put in the time with her though. Class is more review than lecture.

I do not agree with these comments either! I found Professor White to be really knowledgeable in our lab class. She knew her subject, explained it well and always had time to offer help. She had a short quiz at the beginning of each class and always reviewed the material for that beforehand. Work hard, participate and you will get a good grade.

Although she does whistle at you to get your attention, she knows what she is talking about. If you take time to talk to her out of class she is very helpful and the new way she does her quizes help you get a better grade in lecture.

I think all the bad ratings of Dr. Evans are funny. If you're a responsible student who does the required reading and comes to class prepared, Dr. Evans class is not difficult at all. She's extremely helpful, especially if you attend office hours. She brings a lot of science articles to class with current research on topics that you are learning.

I loved Dr. Evans! You have to put in the work if you want to do well in her class, it's definitely not not one you can sleep through and expect to pass, but she is so passionate and willing to help. Just do the reading and show up to class-I ended up with a GREAT grade with her. So if you're interested in/passionate about Bio, take her!

I think that professor Evan is an awesome teacher. Even though I am not finished with the class, I have seen dramatic improvment. She is very hepful, and her offic hours really pay off. She tells you what to expect on the test, and her show me anything assgignment is extremely easy and helpful. There is no way you can fail if you pay attention.

GREAT TEACHER!! loves what she does and kows her stuff. Yes you have to read the chpt b4 hand, pay attenetion to her lectures and study. but she gives you practice quizzes for each chapter that are the exact same on the test. And you get to pick what you want to do for the chapter assignments. Easy A!! Just listen!!

I hate Biology yet she made it quite interesing. Tests are not too hard. Use her practice quizes and study guides!!!

Loves her job - engages students in peer-led discussion about related topics and articles. For me it involved 2-3 hours reading/textbook study per week to integrate concepts; after that tests and quizzes were difficult to fail. Lots of PowerPoint and lecture with moderate call-and-response with students. Content-heavy for 8am class-schedule wisely.

Loved her! This class was very easy. She practically gives you the grade as long as you listen. She guides you as to what will be on the essay part of the test and if you pay attention her practice quizzes are there for a reason! Look at them you will see them again. She is very enthusiastic about the class although it can be corny. Easy easy easy

If you're expecting to be lazy and pass this course, then you will fail. Dr. Evans gives you ample amounts of ways to keep your grades up and will go beyond your expectations to make sure you understand the material. The material can be difficult to understand so make sure you do what is expected by reading the material and then come to lecture.

Had her for lab I promise you super easy, just do the work and answer it right. If you bs the answer obviously it will be wrong, you get what you give. I love her!

she requires you to call her Dr.evans not mrs or ms. Attendance is like half your grade and the quizzes are straight out of the lab manual and what we do in class.sometimes sounds like she has an attitude with you.If you don't like a teacher who seems a little up in your face sometimes you won't get along with her some people argue with her.

Enforces all of the lab rules and regulations. Very knowledgeable about the subject, and sometimes makes it interesting. Must study for all the quizzes as they are all on slides. No time for slackers, but encourages teamwork between groups and helps any way she can.

Dr. Evans was hard but fair. She gives study guides for all exams. Do the study guides and exams are easy to pass. She gives a lot of extra points on the essay questions.

Dr. Evans really knows what she is talking about. I've learned to love biology more than I did in high school because of her. You have to Do Show Me Anythings which are assignments that show her you read the chapter. also do practice quizzes and go to office hours because she is very helpful in clarifying things students don't understand!

Awesome teacher! I looked forward to her lectures. She really knows her stuff! You get out what you put into this class. If you show up and listen, you will do well. If you're in it half assed, it'll be a tough game of catch up. She will only test you on what she teaches you, so if you're listening and engaged, you'll do fine.

Personally, I thought Dr. Evans was a good professor. I had her for lab and besides the 2 practicals we had, the class was an easy A. However, the practicals are VERY difficult (I failed both, but still passed with an A) and require a lot of study time. Just make sure to follow her rules (no food, phones, or talking when she is) and she'll love you

Mrs. Evans is phenomenal. I had a 3 hour lecture with her once a week and the 3 hours flew by. She is such a great teacher and really makes sure that you understand the information. Professor Evans is a wonderful teacher. She makes you want to learn more. She requires participation from her classes and is a very visual teacher. I took her Friday morning 3 hour lecture and got so much out of it. Every week there is a Show Me Anything due; which is exactly as it sounds: Just prove to her that you read the chapter before class.

She is AMAZING! The only grades are one homework per chapter and then three test grades. She is the bee's knees. YOU MUST TAKE HER! She is hilarious and friendly and works with you and she's just awesome! I just signed up for her Bio 102 Lab and Lec next fall! Buy the book!

I took Dr. Evans for Bio 102 lab and absolutely loved her. Although she was kinda picky with grading, she was always there to help if you were confused. Unlike some teachers, Dr. Evans actually walked around during labs and interacted with students if they needed help. I would take her class again if I could. I learned a lot.

I really enjoyed her class. She gives you everything you need to pass on Blackboard, you just have to use it. Do not expect to do no homework and never open the book, you will not pass if you do that. She answers questions and will break the information down easier for you. Loved her class!

Loved her class! She is a laid-back teacher. Started first day with fear, in couple weeks got used to her way of teaching and began enjoying it. There are mainly no power points. Take lots of notes, especially the board notes. She gives practices quizzes which many questions end up in weekly quizzes. One quiz every class and a 100 questions final.

This professor acts tough on the first day. She just wants you to be respectful. She is really kind and helpful during lab. Great professor.

Very enthusiastic

She was very helpful, understanding, and replied to emails within a day or two. I took her online bio 101 class and in the beginning ordered the wrong lab kit (oops) but she understood that mistakes happen and allowed me to turn in my first project a few days late.

In all my other lab classes taken at TNCC for lab no professor took the time to help out and when they did they made me feel stupid. Dr Evans clearly explains and makes sure you understand. I loved her lab class for BIO 102. She seems to care a lot and makes effort to go around the room and interact with everyone. I highly recommend Dr Evans.

Amazing. Provides you with plenty of information, links, videos and a unique and interesting way of teaching. Gives you more than enough opportunity to do well and will help in any way. She likes to go on little tangents about certain aspects of biology that we don't necessarily need to know. however, she does have a really good attitude, and is very passionate about higher learning and biology. she is willing to help you outside of class, and will even hold a phone conversation with you. She grades tough.

Her class is easy to be in! She always clarifies if need be, and she goes the extra mile to make sure that everyone understands. Only people I knew who did not get at least a B were the ones who did not show up or did not pay attention or do the homework.

she gives you a lot of homework for the portfolio. the second half of semester you l have oral exams which will be with the partner, so no big deal an easy 100s. the class itself is hard but you learn a lot from her. and also she helps and explains the portfolio mistakes in her office when needed. I would recommend her.

Having Dr. Evans this semester was amazing. She truly cares for her students and is understanding of individual circumstances given the current events. This was the only meeting I looked forward to every week, and I am thankful to have had her as my research prof. Be sure to practice for your presentations as those are most of your grade.

She's a really great professor. She would always answer any questions I had. She gave lots of homework which was all helpful, but it was a lot and it didn't count much for your grade. She sits on her desk though; somehow I could tell she would before she did.
