the course is hard but she is a good teacher so it seems easy. she explains things really well so they are easy to understand. hwk is not required but makes the difference bwtn A's n B's. lots of extra credit is given.

This course is hard. She helped alot, but I still didn't get it. It is fast paced and confusing. She knows her stuff. Ask questions.
Math is very hard for me but she made it seem easier. She was very helpful and is willing to work with students to make sure they get the concepts. She gives extra credit too.
I found her to be vague in lectures, leaving me clueless when it came to homework. She also went really slow the whole semester until the last month and then she tried to teach you five months worth of notes with in a week of the exam.
She is a great teacher. She is always there if you need help, even after office hours. I would recommend her to anyone. The material is hard but she makes it easy. She does not give any bonus but you don't need it if you do all of your homework. Doing homework is a MUST! All in all a GREAT teacher.
She seems like she is a great teacher. Math is not my best subject, but she has made everything understandable so far.

She doesn't ever appear to have all of it together. She forgets tests and we have to reschedule. She writes the wrong question on the board then solves it the wrong way. I'm very dissatisfied with her class. I don't enjoy math to begin with and this experience isn't helping much.
she is awesome. i recommemd her. as long as you pay attn..you will do fine. i would have done better if i would have payed attn rather than goofing off.
Shes a good teacher overall. She will explain anything if you ask. If you pay attention and make sure to ask questions you will do fine. I slept every day and made a B. Gives extra credit that makes the difference. Take her.
She is a great teacher. Math has always held me back in school. I dropped math four times in college before I found the first teacher that has ever been abe to teach me Math. She is very straiht forward she does not teach you fifty diiferent ways to solve one problem instead she only teaches one and makes sure that you understand.
She is fabulous. I've failed this class four times, at three different institutions, before taking it here. She explains everything in the most elementary way, and is more than willing to help. She also posts a lot of information on blackboard, which helps. So does the extra credit. I definitely recommend her to anyone who has issues with math.
Im taking her atm & i think she is great. I dropped this class with another teacher-he went waaaay too fast and didnt even crack open the book. Shes just the opposite. she makes sure everyone understands b4 she moves on, she reviews on things from the previous lesson, and teaches out of the book..that makes doing hw a lot easier! Take her!
she's tough especially her tests!! do the homework she assigns after she teaches the lessons so you'll understand it if you have questions she gives bonus for the homework for exams. do the study guides she assigns to make sure you'll do ok on the tests.. if you make a good grade on the projects that will help your grade
great teacher! very clear. breaks everything down to make it easy to understand.
She is super easy if you take the computer lab class. She explains everything down to the T, and if you do take the computer lab class, you don't memorize formulas, just how to do the problems on Excel. I made an A in this class and I suck at Math.
She is not a good teacher. She moves fast and doesnt explain things well. I had a C by drop date so I dropped and I took math 161 the next semster with Brian O'Callaghan and got an A.
she's a very good teacher...she always asks if you have any questions and ...it is alot easier if you get the class where you do it on the computers with excel...you should go to class if you want to understand it.
She is very thorough in her teachings and gives bonus points on every test for turning in all of the homework. She assigns a lot of group projects and is willing to answer any and all questions. I passed everything in her class with an A, but I failed b/c of excessive absences.
She is so boring that i fell asleep like every single class!! and if u expect to get out of class atleast 2 min. early ur fresh out of luck!! Cus it will never happen she will keep u in there til the very last second!! Her class is just way to boring to be in there the entire time!! I ended up dropping it, it was just to boring!!
I loved her! I would take her class over & over again. She is extremely thorough AND friendly. She's very sweet. She definitely makes sure that EVERYONE knows the material. She doesn't move too fast at all. She gives a ton of homework but her tests are fairly easy. I hate math and I'm bad at it but I liked her class!
i had her for statistics and i absolutely loved her...she really makes sure you know your material and is always willing to help.
Mrs. Kirkpatrick is a wonderful teacher. She's also very friendly and personable! She makes sure everyone understands before moving on. Def. do the homework! I hate math and I finished with a high B! Highly recommend her!!
Great teacher. Very helpful. I just hate math but she made it interesting.
She is by far the best math teacher I've ever had. She makes sure everyone understands before she goes on. She takes everything step by step. She is the sweetest woman and will help you with anything you need!!
Very boring and poor teaching habbits. always made mistakes!!!
She is a very nice lady and very easy. She explains everything pretty well. However, i made a 89.5 in her class and she gave me a B...i was not expecting that.
Very, very cool lady. Made sure you understood what was going on in the class before she moved on and was always up for going over homework or going over test questions afterwards.
she moves a bit fast but she has away of keeping my attention
I LOVE her. She is sweet and helpful. If you do your work, you should have no problem with her.
I think this was her first time teaching SE 101. It's a pointless, boring class no matter who teaches it, but she tried to keep us interested. I don't think anyone could have made that class interesting, but at least it's easy.
She teaches straight out of the book. She's a really nice teacher and all but, when you ask her to show you something. She never writes anything on the board. she would LITERALLY just tell you..she moves pretty fast..usually i would teach myself from looking at the textbook. Test are pretty simple, of course you have to know the material.
Mrs, Kirkpatrick is an awsome teacher who cares for her students. She is willing to help anyone who ask for it and will offer help to those that are struggling. Now that material is hard but with her help she makes it easy. She is the best teacher in the math section and I recommend her to every student.
Dr. Kirkpatrick is super nice. But her teaching is pretty confusing if you can't follow. She makes a lot of mistakes too. She will explain something but she gets tangled up in what she is doing and loses track of what to do next. The class itself is fairly easy. But perpare to be confused, lol.
She is the worst teacher I have ever had! All she does it talk you through examples.. she never writes them down to actually show you. None of the class did well. Our test score averages have never been over a "D". She constantly teaches you the wrong way first and then realizes it and has to reteach the right way.. My worst professor ever!!!!!!!!!
I would sooner recommend a bad teacher before I would recommend her. She is impatient and demeaning. She forces too much info in too little time. The class barely completed her tests in the time given. She forces the info on you and doesn't try to teach it. I fought to do well and only made one B of 5 D's on her exams. She's the worst teacher.
Ms. Kirkpatrick is a wonderful teacher. She helped me to relearn and learn the algebra that I didn't learn in high school. She is very kind and cares about her students. I would certainly recommend her, because she is the best algebra teacher I have ever had.
She genuinely tries her hardest to convey the material to the students and she is always willing to review tests and homework in her office. She may throw you some points at the end of the semester if you need them and she seems to really love teaching math. Take her. I was awful at math. I passed. That was all that mattered. :)
Great teacher. I don't care what others say. She was very nice and helpful. Most learning happened in the lab because we didn't have that much class time. Twice a week for 50 minutes wasn't enough.
Mrs. Kirkpatrick is a very nice lady. She tries to help you whenever she can. However this semester was the first semester that she taught this particular course in 4 years. She was very unclear with everything she taught. Her test were short but extremely hard.
She was very unclear in her teaching, but she is helpful and nice. She can be sarcastic, you just have to be on her good side and attend class. Her tests are very short (10-12 problems), and you must study in order to pass the class. Overall, she is a nice but hard teacher.
I personally don't recommend taking her at all. I love math, but she is just not a good teacher! DON'T DO IT!!!
I took her online Stats class. I have not had math in a while and I was extremely nervous about this course. So far she has been a great professor. Does her best to help you and explain anything you don't understand. She is wonderful about working with your needs for her Proxied tests completed. She drops the lowest grades. Very reasonable.
First and only math course I had to take. I clepped out of others. Online course I took, and she lays everything out if you just read it. Homework can be taken infinite times, and 5 attempt at quizes. Pretty straight forward. She drops lowest homework, and quizes. She will explain anything if you ask, through email or office hours.
Do not expect the things you learned in class to be on the test! No matter what you do, you cannot win. She DOES NOT answer questions! DO NOT TAKE!
Ms. Kirkpatrick is a good professor. She may seem intimidating at first but when you speak with her, she is very kind and helpful. There were 4 exams, 2 projects, and 1 cumulative final. The material is difficult to understand for those weak in math but she wants you to succeed. I too struggled but managed to obtain a B with much effort. Take her !
DONT TAKE HER SHE DOESNT HELP YOU SHE ASSIGNS HMWRK FROM THE BOOK PROJECTS YOU'RE EXPECTED TO COMPLETE THE ONLINE HMWRK AS WELL THE ONLINE HMWRK DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE TEST ARE HORRIBLE HER TEST ARE RIDICULOUS SHE ASK QUESTIONS IN THE MOST ABSURD AND CONFUSING WAYS TO THE POINT SHE BARELY UNDERSTANDS THE QUESTION HERSELF DONT TAKE HER
Her class is pretty hard at first, but after the drop date, it gets MUCH better. I went from a 64 and 70 on the first two tests, to all A's on the rest. She tells you a secret towards the end of the semester that I'll share with you: Her test questions come directly from the book. Instead of doing the ones she assigns, do the other questions!
Dont take her!! She hates when you asked questions!!! I am very good in math but taking her was terrible..
This class is difficult. Her notes are powerpoints from the textbooks. Her tests are very difficult and require alot of critical thinking. You must study to do well in this class. She can seem rude at times but she follows a strict syllabus and is willing to work with you outside of class if you need extra help.
Just gonna keep it simple, don't take her. She's confusing, and a HISTORY major, not a math major.
Unless you're fantastic with math, you have to go to class. She offers all of her lecture powerpoints online but she explains how to use your calculator for a faster answer versus memorizing a bunch of formulas. She is very sweet and goes over homework in class, which the problems are always on test. If you study and put in effort, you'll do fine.
This class is tough, but as long as you do and UNDERSTAND the homework, you'll do fine on her tests. She lectures for the whole class period and is always willing to answer questions.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE TEACHER. She needs to go back to her major which is HISTORY not math. WORST TEACHER ON CAMPUS!!!!!!!! Would never answer any questions.
Lectures are very long and confusing. Her slides are from the book and sometimes she doesn't relay the information well. She is always willing to help you during her office hours. This class is the farthest thing from an easy A. To get an A you have to work your tail off. no bonus. 4 test, 1 final, 2 projects(confusinglong) and online homework.
I failed MATH 241 mostly because the teacher before was not as interested in teaching or giving us other ways to learn. She works with you and the way you learn. She is also a sweet woman with a sense of warmth. Take her over anyone else.
Hard tests. You have two projects to do during the semester. She gives you plenty heads up what you will have to do for the projects. It is crucial that you complete all online homework. You will need it to boost your grade. 4 Tests and 1 Final Exam. Will need to buy a graphing calculator!! Don't have to have it the first 2 classes.
4 tests and 2 projects and online homework. if you don't do the homework it can make your grade worse. just like math161 as far as homework. easy. re do it until 100% tests are hard, but gives points for showing your work/partial credit. Need to go to this class, takes attendance and checks your attendance and grade when mid term comes up.
Professor Kirkpatrick is an okay teacher. She spends too much time on self-explanatory things and then doesn't get the chance to finish her lecture, which leaves you to figure it out yourself. I recommend going to class every day because what you miss in class, you have to teach yourself and the lessons get VERY confusing and difficult.
Mrs Kirtpatrick is the type of teacher that makes sure you know what your doing before you leave class. Miss an assignment? Just email her she is easy to talk to and work with. She explains problems as many times as it takes. Best math teacher I've ever had.
I loved this teacher. She is so sweet and so willing to help. She acts kinda crazy in the mornings, but you get used to it. She is very set on due dates, so make sure your mathxl and workbook pages are turned in on time. Literally never went to math lab or turned in workbook pages and still made a B. Super easy class!
She lectures math and barley writes anything on the board. If you are a visual learned and need to see things instead of just hearing it DO NOT TAKE HER. It was impossible for me to follow anything she would say. I would always teach myself.
Easy to understand & very clear on how she wants assignments done! homework is open with plenty of time to complete! She goes over all homework & quizzes before they are due! Go to class & you'll be fine! I would take her again, if she taught classes i needed for my major!
She was awesome. She worked with you if you did not understand or if you missed something she would work with you to get it made up. She wanted the best for her students and for them to understand. Very easy to follow while lecturing. She helped me to understand math.
She is overall a good teacher but if you are a visual learner like me it is very hard to understand her way of teaching. She has nothing but PowerPoints and does not always work out the problems. If you have to visually see the problem worked out and explained I would not take her class.
She really does make you work for your grade but only because she wants to make sure you know the material. She goes over online homework assignments in class so you can understand them when you have to go in the lab. Practice tests before each test. Do your lab hours and do the practice test until you're getting 100% every time and you'll get an A
THE BEST MATH TEACHER AT SELU. Literally, took this same class when I was a freshman and failed with an F. Now I passed with an A and didn't even get tutoring. she cares so much about whether or not her students pass.
She was an amazing math teacher! She is easy to understand and does a good job at explaining. She moves through her notes fast so it's hard to copy notes down. Very nice and caring.
Shes a great professor. I would take her again. She does a very great job explaining the content, but does go through the notes a little fast.
Shes a decent teacher but not the best. She is a nice person but she speaks to some of her students as if they were children which is really annoying. She also reads from her notes word for word. Other than that it was an easy class.
Shes very tough, but kind of hard to understand if youre not very good at math. Very understanding when it comes to family emergencies, but not if you have work or anything else. Hard material if you dont like math that doesnt make sense.
She is a great math teacher as she has taught many younger grade levels and she is great at breaking down topics. She is very caring and is willing to work with her students. Math lab hours are required and the class is fast paced but she makes sure to use ALL of her class time to be sure that the students understand. Im taking her next semester!
Ms. Kirkpatrick is an amazing math teacher! She begins each class by answering any questions her students have and is very caring while also making sure you understand the material. Shes even pretty funny. I 10/10 recommend this professor!!!
She literally is the best math teacher I ever had. I plan on taking her for Math 241! She do work a lot from the time class starts until its scheduled ending time but she ALWAYS helps when its needed. She write a lot of examples, explains well, and never leave anyone behind.
Should've took the online course because her being there wasn't much help. Basically I taught myself while she read us power points.
She is a great teacher, but she is more about teaching the definition of the work rather than how to actually do it. I wish I would have taken the class online. All homework and quizzes are online, but the actual tests are in class and formatted in a completely different way. There are NO Extra credit assignments. You earn your grade in this class.
All she does is read off the power point word by word and doesnt write any examples
She talks about the concepts but doesn't take the time to explain how to do the homework. I was extremely lost all semester. She gets impatient if u ask her to explain the homework probs too. I worked hard in this class & had to teach myself or YouTube because she did not explain it clearly. If you must take her, make sure you sign up for tutoring.
Ann is an okay teacher. The main downside is the online work is not similar to her test. Its a paper test, and it is mostly written out. I recommend finding someone else, but if you can't, I would just be prepared for her. If you study, you will pass.
She mainly teaches straight off PowerPoints so if youre not good at math do not take her. The only time she works problems out on the board is when someone asks her a question. She hardly goes over homework problems also.
This class is not easy you gotta learn the material. There is 3 homework assignments each week about 13 questions and some questions have up to 10 parts. Every couple weeks there is a quiz. The tests are just like the practice test so do it a few times to do well on the test. Final is cumulative, not too bad. 5 to 7 discussion posts really easy
I did not like Ms. Kirkpatricks class at all. I found her very rude and she would get mad when we would ask questions during CLASS. Her tests are nothing like the homework and half of the time when she goes over the homework, she does not even know how to do it. I had to teach myself everything I learned in this class.
I would not take her for math 241. She goes over slides and doesnt work anything out on the board or really explain problems other than whats on the slides. She also comes off as very rude to me. I basically teach myself everything through the homework problems so yeah I wouldnt take her unless you have to.
Make sure you attend class because if not you will be lost. Shes so sweet and a good teacher just a little boring.
I took this class online - DO NOT. Everything is supposed to be online (100% online is what SELU describes it), but she makes you go to school. You can figure out the online work by yourself - she doesn't give you notes or tell you how to find a textbook. But then you have to go to school in person to take tests and they are nothing like online.
You will be required to go to the math lab every week. She makes the material very easy to understand and will explain it in another way if you don't understand how to do the problem. The material is PowerPoint-based, not textbook-based. My only problem was I kept forgetting to do the homework on time which adds up significantly. Easy class.
Worst math teacher ever!!!
She moves fast, so beware if you're a slow learner. You will have to go to math lab. Tests weren't like the practice tests sometimes. A lot of homework and quizzes to keep up with outside of class. I ended with an 89.7. You can choose to take the final and it replaces your lowest test grade. She drops the lowest quiz and homework grades too.
very good professor and explains things well. must attend class and pay attention to obtain material
