Oh What a great professor! She is great. Very helpful and hard working teacher. She is well organized and her lectures are very interesting and clear. She makes students be involved a lot in the discussions. One of the few classes where students and the teacher both r happy.
Great professor, a difficult topic to teach but she does it well. make sure to attend class regularly.
Great teacher.
I went into philosophy thinking i was going to get really philosophical N stuff but this class is like another english class! It was sooo incredibly easy AND suprisingly fun! i enjoyed the class very much. Plus i didnt have to pay 30 bucks for a book, her workbook is only 5. U dont have to do the hw, she lets u do it in class WHILE correcting it.
the best teacher i ever took. very nice and ez
Her class is easy and interesting because the stuff that you have to learn is like math and she explains a lot in the class and is helpful. If you have common sence, you do not have difficulties to understand.
This class is really easy. She explains things well and she explains them until everyone gets it. There is homework every night, frequent quizzes, 3 exams, and 3 papers. The papers are super easy. It's a good idea to go to class but if you do you'll do well.
At first it felt like the information for the class was below me, like stupidly easy. As time went on it wasn't, although it was still easy. She's a good teacher and this required class wasn't nerve wracking thanks to her simple format.

this was my first college class...i loooved anne...she is incredibly talented and interesting...the class was easy if you studied, but the material was so interesting that it stuck..she is incredibly helpful at every turn and really wants to you to understand and excel...everyone in our class passed...the best part: having heated political debates at 9 in the morning....and she always had something to add to both sides..reallllly intelligent!
The class is very easy and work is simple. Homework takes less than 15 min every night and everyone goes over it in class the next day. The class gets more repetitive and boring near the end of the semester, but at least it's an easy A. Ann is nice and listens to all comments in class.
Robertson is all right. I'm not as excited about her as everyone else is. She's a nice lady but she's a socialist and it's sort of hard to take sometimes (even if you're liberal). Human Rights class recommended for the readings.
If there's a professor you have to take, it's definitely Ann Robertson. She's very easy, but that's not the point; she teachers you methods of analyzing arguments, to point out vagueness and ambiguities. There's a couple of big quizes, but as long as you do the homework, they aren't going to be hard. Also, the homework is pretty easy. Recommended.
Professor Robertson is SUCH a sweetheart. She is always willing to help you out in any way she can. She is always very clear and chooses intersting topics. A lot of reading, but its not really hard to pass the quizes, they are all true or false!
Great class to take, you learn a lot. Ann Robertson is a wonderful teacher, very fair in grading. There is daily homework, however, it doesn't take long (20-30 mins. MAX) and the class reviews the material the next day. There are several quizzes, a midterm and final. If you do the hw, you'll ace all of it.
i love this teacher, shes really caring and plus one of the coolest teacher at SFSU, shes a fair grader too, the quizes are true or false and she always talks about the answers that are on it, so just take notes, read the readings also, because she loves class disscussions, but its not necessary i didnt read at all and got a decentgrade JUST LISTEN
very interesting class. a lot of readings. great professor. very nice, calm and collected. recomment her to anyone.
The class is overall very easy, but don't shrug it off and get cocky, because she will dock points on major assignments and tests. Last semester there were only special assignments and tests, no small homework to turn in, although there is HW everyday. She's nice, gives interesting discussions, so just work hard enough and you will get an A.
long & behold
EASY! shes a good teacher. easy hw everyday and goes over it the next day. shes very nice and extremely patient, explains eveything clearly until everytbody gets it. interesting discussions. its impossible to fail this class.
great teacher. all the text we used was a $5 reader! she doesn't make you get expensive textbooks & then not even use them. easy hw, goes over everything in class, interesting topics and discussions. very chill class & LOL at the person below "low and behold", she says that a lot.
Roberston always involves her students and teaches very clearly. She assigns a lot of homework BUT it isn't mandatory; she doesn't collect it...then goes over all of it in class. Requires a few essays but they are pretty simple. Understand the concepts and you'll do good on tests. Don't take it one night a week tho; too long!
Very nice lady and cares about her students. However, if you no nothing about politics or human rights, this class will be one big blur, boring, and hard. I struggled a lot. Quizzes are based on handouts with facts that are impossible to memorize. Lots of reading as well. Show her you are tying and she will give you a decent grade. Hard class!!!!
Great teacher. Really Nice. She makes sure everyone in the class understands what she's teaching. She assigns optional homework every class. I reccomend doing it because it takes like, 10 mins and it helps to know what shes going over in class. 3 Special Assignments, 5 quizzes, 1 midterm and a final. Awesome lady. Take her if you can.
She is one of my favorite professors this semester!! She's super easy and she really truly cares about all of her students. No big text books.. all she requires is a $5 reader. I HIGHLY recommend this class!!!
Very nice woman. Always tries her best to be there for her students. A little boring at times which can make class not appealing. But if you only miss three classes the whole semester, you are eligible for extra credit at the end of the course.
She treats the class like highscool students who have to be tricked into staying the whole time, when really class lecture is equal to simply memorizing the reader. She spends the whole class tirelessly reading outloud and analysing the reader- mainly sections that have no relevance to quizes (which are based mainly on at home reading assignments).
Easy class. Robertson is a very nice lady. Assigns homework but I never even did it because it's not mandatory, she just goes over it in class anyways. So not a big deal whatsoever if you don't do it. Definitely not a class to dread going to.. one of my best classes this semester. I would definitely recommend getting Robertson if you take Phil 110.
Great class for those genuinely interested in Human Rights.Lectures are clear & interactive.Very interesting reading assignments, easy True/False tests.Attendance & readings a must for an A .Prof has a point of view but encourages other points of view. The class deepened my understanding, helped me develop my own unique perspective,& formulate a strong argument.
I like Ann, she is really nice, but her lectures can be really boring. She spends most of class time making us flip through the class reader and listen to her read allowed the articles. The quizzes are easy if you come to class and do some light skimming of the books. Don't put off the term paper its easy, but you need time to develop it.
Great teacher, and very liberal! Loved the discussions and examples she used.
Robertson is pretty cool, she's smart and the class moves at the right pace. The test and quizzes are fairly identical to the classwork, however the final requires more mastery of the subject and will get you. She seems to have favorites though, and her knowledge can make her come off overly confident in some situations.
Robertson is so sweet, understanding, and accomodating to her students needs. The first half of class is usually going over the homework or quiz, then typically a short lecture, then a student presentation. Her lectures are helpful and the class is extremely easy to get a high B... an A if you try. Attendance is not mandatory. TAKE HER
Robertson is a great teacher. She's very helpful and clear. Tests and quizzes are basically what you do in class. Lots of discussions in class. The last 10 minutes are for students to present controversial articles. Not the funnest class but easy and interesting discussions at times. I recommend this class.
good teacher, good class
nice teacher. youll learn a lot in this class. its super easy to pass the class but you will have to try if you want to get an A.
This is one class where you will learn a lot. The midterm and the final are the two you will have to work most on since those count A LOT. But once you get the concept, the class is easy, just not super super easy.
This class is an easy A if you pay attention and take some time to do your homework. I got an A- in the class becasue i got lazy with the final and ended up gettign a not so good grade on it. But still the final was easy and so with everythign else.
BEST TEACHER!! DEFINETLY TAKE HER, YOU WONT REGRET IT! class is structured very well and is always interesting with controversial articles everyday...the class prepares you well for the final/midterm...i would recomend her to anyone :)
She was very down to earth and open to any and all arguments. If you go to all her classes you get extra credit, but it's not mandatory. I would recommend going though, because otherwise its very hard to get a good grade. I wish her quizzes were as hard as her tests, but I did get an A and I highly recommend her!
She is such a good teacher and really easy. She is clear and makes sure everyone understands the subject. She is open minded to all subjects and encourages people to express their opinions. She is always willing to change her opinions and hear the other side of things which most teachers lack.
A very nice lady but I didn't learn a thing. I was one of the easiest classes I've ever taken in my school career. It felt like she was teaching children.
She is really nice and is very clear. You don't need a textbook for this class just a reader that you buy at the student store. Go to class and do the homework and you will get a good grade. She assigns homework but never collects it and she always tells you what will be on the quizzes and tests. By far the easiest class I have taken.
She is a very friendly person and very willing to help her students at any costs. She will give you both her professional email along with her personal, and she also hands out her home phone number. She is very easy to understand, just sit in class and pay attention, that is all you need to do. The homework is not necessary. Easy A
Super down to earth and open-minded. Pretty easy class jsut her grading systems a bit weird; it's off of like four exam (liek fifteen questions worth 100 points!), a midterm, and a final which is like half your grade. Kindof lame.
Professor Robertson is awesome! She is very nice and easy to talk to/understand. She is accepting of all different viewpoints and works very hard to make sure everyone understands the material. Attend class every time and you will do well. Very positive atmosphere in class. I would definitely recommend taking her class.
I would highly recommend any class with Ann Robertson. She's very passionate about what she teaches which keeps her lectures interesting. Open to all view points, tries to explain things clearly. Two papers, one midterm, one final. Very easy grader, and knows when to take her furloughs. If you take notes, you don't have to do the reading. Easy A.
I enjoyed the way she taught. She made the classroom environment comfortable
This is the second time I've had Robertson, didn't regret taking her again. One 9 pg. term paper. 5 in class quizzes based on reading & class discussion so attendance is mandatory. Sticks to the syllabus & gets papers & exams back quickly. Good feedback on term paper, a fair grader. Overall a good, informative class.
LOVE THIS CLASS! haha she starts on time and sometimes go over but you will enjoy this class. she clarifies everything to make sure you understand. her tests arent hard and she tells you what you need to know before hand. she listens to your viewpoint and sometimes the class turns into a debate. very fun. I'd take this class again if I could
EASY!Go to class everyday and pay attention and youll be fine.5 quizzes, midterm, final. Not hard material. She is very helpful if you have questions. She make everything clear as possible.
HARD!Go to class everyday and pay attention if you can and you still won't get that A or B. 3 Exams covering 3 to 4 Philosophers and 2-3 books per exam. 2 Papers that are short, but graded extremely hard. Not worth the amount of work and the lectures are incomprehensible. She will jump from topic to topic and sometimes just talk about politics...
Terrible teacher. Boring lectures. Difficult test. Tough grader. Not worth it
GREAT TEACHER! she cares that the students understand the material and doesn't even mark you down if you are late. if you get an answer wrong, she explains why you are wrong instead of embarrassing you in front of the class. you do have to attend class to understand the material but she is def not boring. for quizzes and tests, just study A LITTLE.
Very interesting class if you're into politics. Attend class to do well, do the readings. Very easy T/F tests based on readings all semester, 1 term paper assigned at beginning and due at end of semester. I admire her ability to deal nicely with some of the messed up stuff students say in class, very tolerant individual. Great teacher!
Very straightforward class: 6 tests (drops lowest score) and one 10 page paper assigned beginning of the semester which was due a month before semester ended. Just read the books she assigned and pay attention in class. Her tests are about 40 t/f questions. Overall, pretty easy class.
If you're planning on taking Phil 110, I highly recommend Prof. Robertson! In every class, I always learned something interesting and she keeps you entertained throughout the entire period. Another plus is that homework is optional, but on the other hand there's one final, one midterm, and a handful of quizzes (which aren't too bad).
Extremely easy class.Sometimes a little slow and boring but she is an easy A,
Lectures were often very interesting and enlightening. I regret skimming the readings rather than really reading the material given. Maybe then, I would have done better on the t/f quizzes. Overall, insightful class that I should have taken more seriously.
For an old souless marxist she is okay to take... she seems to have marx's ideals a bit mixed up and backwards but that ideal is already that way... she is a strict grader especially when you could really use the help
i loved this class. Her teaching was very easy to understand and she was really sweet. Easy A.
Such a sweet woman! She prints her own course reader, so it only cost about $10 to buy. She keeps the motivated students happy and kicks the slackers into gear! Don't sleep in her class; she will find you, and her lectures aren't boring at all! Take classes with her if you can! I'm glad I did!
She is very sweet. Very easy as long as you UNDERSTAND and KNOW the material. Class routine is simple: lectures new topic, goes over homework, explains and clears any confusion students may have on the material. She makes things really easy to understand. As long as you listen, do your homework, and do the 5 min presentation, you'll do well.
The text was interesting, but I felt she expected a bit much from her students when it came to the papers. Lectures were a bit dry-a regurgitation of what we were supposed to read. Generally a nice woman, not the greatest teacher. If you're someone who doesn't volunteer opinions in class or new to political philosophy, I don't recommend this class.
Her lectures are engaging. The tests are easy, you need to go to class as most of the questions regard what she covered in class. I was disappointed that we didnt really talk that much about human rights but rather American political philosophy. It was interesting but I wanted to take a class about human rights. I'm a better person now.
It's an interesting class overall as it covers human rights topics. Obviously there's a left-wing slant to her lectures and views. There's a lot of reading, most of which are kind of boring and anti-capitalist. She's nice and easy to talk to but is a tough grader. I did all the readings and assignments and managed to only get a C.
She is pretty into Human Rights and is very knowledgable, but this class is so repetitive. If you actually read the books assigned you'll do well. She always said "In any case" which annoyed me but other than that she's pretty great.
Easy class and easy A if you pay attention. Class is based on 5 quizzes, midterm, oral presentation, and a final. All are easy if you attend lectures consistently. She is a great professor that will clarify any confusions you have during or after class. Overall would recommend.
Great professor. Sweetest lady who really cares about her student. Easy to follow lectures. Helpful easy quizzes along the way to help you prepare for the midterm and final. I recommend taking Philosophy 101 with her.
Very cool professor. Easy to follow lectures that guide you to know what will be on the quizzes. The class consist of 5 quizzes a midterm a final and a oral presentation. It may seem like a lot but it isn't at all plus she drops the lowest grade out of your five quizzes. I was expecting to get a C+ to B for my grade but ended up getting a B+.
She's really nice and relatively easy just super boring and repetitive. Lost interest really quickly and missed a lot of class but still ended up with a B.
Seriously one of the nicest professors ever. I'm still currently in her class and I've learned so much because she is crystal clear on the criteria she teaches her students. She is always open for debate if you don't completely agree on how she see's something. All in all she is an extremely wonderful teacher. You won't regret taking her class!
Easy A. Listen and you'll understand the material. The quizzes and test are super easy.
One of my favorite courses I've ever taken in college. The assigned books were very engaging. Learned a ton about human rights, capitalism, and imperialism. I was completely caught off guard on the number of violations of human rights countries have committed. I can proudly say I am a much better informed citizen after taking this class.
Sitting in her class right now. You da best Ann!
There was homework, but I personally found it easy. It's never much either. Phil 110 was fun and taught clearly. She's very nice and is open to opinions. Lectures were easy to follow.
Homework everyday but it was super easy and she doesn't check it. Very interesting class with a lot of student involvement. Always open to changing a grade if you give a good argument for it. Loved the debates at the end of class!
She was very good at explaining terms and logic. Very sharp and I feel I learned a lot from her.
This class was easy, but I did not like the way she taught. Everything has to be from her point of view, and if you think differently then you have to adjust your mind to think the way she does in order to pass the exams.
Her class is really easy, the homework will help alot if you do it but she doesn't check it. No need for a book and she will take her time explaining anything you don't understand.
Ann's class was both easy and interesting! There is homework every class but it is not difficult and it really helps! She really cares about her students and will do everything she can to help you if you have any questions. I strongly recommend taking phil110 with Ann Robertson.
It can be an easy A if you do the homework and be involved/focussed on her lectures. She values students' participation and opinions in her classes. Personally, she has kept her lectures interesting and I got the impression that she wants to help. She is a great representation of how teachers should be.
Excellent professor! I highly recommend her for PHIL 110. Super easy and super nice. No textbooks needed.
Amazing professor
My favorite professor I have ever had. She is very caring, nice, and understanding. She does her best to help her students succeed and gives minimal/easy homework. Class is very easy to manage with fun zoom calls, short homework assignments, and very few quizzes. Love this professor, TAKE HER CLASS!!!!!
Class is easy, lots of homework but they are very simple. Few quizzes, one short essay, and one oral presentation. Easy A class if you just show up. Slept thru this class multiple times and still passed with flying colors. Prof. Robertson is very nice but isn't interesting. Participation doesn't really matter so don't worry about that, I'd suggest.
