Very nice professor, very helpful. The class is basically based on this simulation game (group project) and you make a decision once a week. Class is usually only about 20 minutes or less. Tests are not hard to study for, but if you don't study, they can be confusing. I would recommend her & take another one of her courses again.

Great teacher. However she uses a simulation that is 30% of your grade. You can make A's on all your tests and still not get an A in the class because of the simulation. Good class, simulation is interesting, just do good on it. I'd take her again.

This lady is great! No long boring lectures, lots of real world application. If you are on this site, this is the teacher you are looking for. Plus she looks like she spends alot of time in the gym for a fourtysomething.

Nice teacher, makes subject interesting. However, simulation game + peer evaluations are 45% of your grade that is basically out of your control.

Class is easy. She just goes over the powerpoint slides and right after class ppl get 2gether 2 make the simulation decisions. She is a good professor,makes it a breeze. No hw. Make sure you pick a good group b/c the simulation is almost 50% of your grade. The tests aren't that hard but make sure you study b/c some Q's are tricky. I recommend her!

I found Dr.Root to be an excellent teacher. The exams are easy if you read the book and powerpoints. The simulation game is easy enough to figure out so long as your group has a cumulative I.Q. above 100. Otherwise, you may have some trouble. Assessment exam at the end of the semester replaces your lowest test grade. All in all an easy class.

Great teacher...fun class. Tests are not easy but with the game the course is passable. Study terms. Got a B+ and I did not do well on the tests.

She never kept us in lecture for more than an hour. I never bought the book, and studied right off the powerpoints. The tests are a little difficult, but replaces your lowest grade with the assesment test (which was the easiest test). The sim game is graded with your team. I enjoyed her class a lot. Highly Recommended!

4 tests, 1 quiz, group stimulation game and a assessment test..I got a 80 on test 1, a 53 on test 2, a 63 on test 3, didnt take test 4 and got a 0..assessment test replaces lowest test grade..I got a B+ in the class, enough said...

Well I had this professor on the Saturdays classes for 4 hours, for 8 weeks. Game was easy, if you read the instructions. Test are a bit hard, just need to study a lot. Lectures are ok, but is and easy B. I totally recommend this class, but you really need to study for the test. Homework is very easy, and the game too.

Root is really sweet, but the language on her tests are horrible - she had to give us study guides in order to get C's and D's - the simulation game you have to do is alright, but you can start off in first and end up dead last and your grades for it count for 50% of your final grade - lectures are pointless - she flies through material - she's ok

Professor reads through powerpoints quickly. tests are multiple choice but were really hard. answers are very similar. best way to study is by definitions if you don't have much time. the simulation game is difficult but fund. you must read appendix A right away to get ahead of the other teams. 60,66,70,85 on test,got B+ in class. did well in game.

Attendance for the person is not mandatory but it is for the i-clicker. The i-clicker gives one their attendance points, she does NOT care if you give it to a friend. The tests were online and moderate difficulty. Not a bad class!

The class is not that bad but I didnt like the simulation game. I am not a marketing major but for those of you that are is great cuz it shows you the real world. Print PPT before class and take notes. Read the chapt before test and you will do ok. I got a B

The simulation game is fun, but you've to understand the markets of the game. The online exams are super tricky. So, you'll have to read the textbook. Overall, it's a good class to take. You can definitely can pass the class.

She gives classes from powerpoint slides. Attendance is mandatory, your iClicker points depend on it. A simulation grade is a big part of your grade and you have very little control of the outcome. Tests are online and pretty hard but she gives an optional final exam to eliminate your worst grade. It was a pretty good class overall.

Majority of grade is based on the simulation, and SHE picks the teams. Relatively hard grader of papers. Doesn't do much teaching, but does give tips on how to succeed in your group weekly. Class takes marketing, finance, accounting, and operations management into account, so be sure you have a general understanding of each subject.

Have to attend class b/c of iclicker, which helps your grade. Tests are online and open book, but difficult. The game is interesting, but the grade is a large part of your final grade and can hurt you if you get a bad group. Just does current events & power-point in class.

Prof. Root is a nice teacher. Attendance: mandatory due to iClicker. The tests come RIGHT from the book, so you MUST get it (she lent me a copy for free, first come first serve though). The game is fairly interesting, but if you make a few mistakes you're screwed. I got B+'s on all the tests, and 5th and 3rd place in the game. My grade: A-.

Tests were easy I scored atleast an 87 or higher on the exams. The new shoes however, messed up my grade. I went from an A to a B+. Otherwise this class was a breeze and the textbook was actally interesting. If you fail this class you should probably ask yourself what you did wrong.

I took this class as a lecture capture: VERY AWESOME. It was a great experience - everything is online - and you never have to go to class. She was very interesting to listen to and she had a lot of awesome videos. Tests were very tricky, but if you payed attention to her and read the text book, it's worth your while.

When it comes to the new shoes game, don't be a moron. The guidelines are posted on the developer's website so don't think the numbers are randomly entered. The tests are based on the terms which have a guideline in the back of the book and she even groups the test questions per the chapter. EASY ZZzzzZ

Prof is great. I took the Video Lecture, Every class should be like this. She is crystal clear during her lectures and gives easy current event tests. Watch the lectures, and read the book, understand the subject and you will get a good grade. The new shoes game is easy. READ THE GAME MANUAL BEFORE YOU START, it tells you how to win.

Just read the book and you will pass the class. I took it online and it was very easy. The game is easy too, but is worthless...it should be played by the end of the course, not from the beginning when we still dont know anything about marketing.

Took live stream video capture course in Fall 2012. Great teacher! Really knows her stuff. Online course super convenient for me who's always on the go. Lots of exams which are easy if you do learnsmart (you'll find out what that is once you sign up). Also group project is pretty easy. Highly recommended.

Lecture capture course was not too difficult. Exams are not bad when you take the time to read the book. The quizzes are easy A's if you watch the classes. The stimulation game is annoying.

This is my second time taking Professor Root and I must say this class was fairly easy. Fortunately for me I didn't have to do this "game" everyone talks about. Her tests are very easy and she is very thorough in her lectures.

Prof. Root kept class interesting by showing current ads and videos relevant to the lessons. If you pay attention and read the book, this is an easy A. The simulation game was a piece of cake, our class did it at the end of the semester after all lessons were taught so again, go to class/watch video stream and read and you won't have any problems.

Good class. Learned useful info that I used outside of class. She shows many current videos of marketing;pay attention to those because she gives quizzes on them. Tests were on BB and were sort of difficult. Textbook is definitely necessary. Got an A. Buy textbook,lot's of test Q's are from the book that you can find the answers to.Nice teacher!

Interesting professor who engages students even via lecture capture. Departmental Exam was pretty easy too. Great professor, much recommended if you have a marketing interest!

Professor has open book tests, but you will spend all your time looking some of these answers up. Tests are hard, and you have little time to do them. I got a B+ only because I got lucky for the simulation game and the Departmental Exam answers were all online. Be prepared to work, but is it really worth it for an A in Marketing?

Follow the syllabus and review prof powerpoints. Prof lectures exactly whats on exams. No cumulative final. Always avail for questions. Simulation game was fun but not worth extra $$. Love how prof used real-time current events as examples in class.

Great Teacher

Took her lecture capture. Interesting class for business majors, however her lectures are extremely summarized so you MUST read the book if you want an A. You still have to listen to the lectures because she puts some questions from the ads she shows. Test once a week because she thinks its better so you don't forget what you've learned. Not bad.

She is the most helpful professor I have ever had! Very student oriented. There are hardly any tests, just hands on experience projects like starting a blog and helping you manage it. This class is a MUST you want to be a marketing major. First professor to show me something ill use in life. I got an A. Easy.

I liked this class a lot. She is very forgiving with grades and makes the class interesting. Just be sure to stay on top of the chapter exams because if you missed one it could be detrimental to your grade. There is an extra credit final at the end of the semester. The game at the end of the semester is pretty fun too.

Took this as a Lecture Capture Course. She explains things very well and made marketing quite interesting. I would have gotten an A instead of an A- if I actually studied for the exams. You can use the book online that comes with the access code so you don't need a hard copy. Take her for summer its a very easy class.

Great professor. Class was a lecture capture course, and was easy to do on my own schedule. Lectures were good, but didn't really need to pay attention, just read the powerpoints. Tests are on powerpoints and text, but text isn't really needed. Lastly there is a sim game where you compete for top rev/market share. Got an A, just do the work.

Great teacher. Need textbook for connect plus. The connect plus is a great to learn the material for the tests. It actually helps if you read the questions and understand them. Her lectures are the awesomest lectures I have ever watched. Always showing different videos. And you need to watch them to do well. The class is not hard but its not easy.

We had four exams and homework assignments to go with the chapters along with the connect assignments. All around really easy class just required you to spend alot of time with it but the final exam was optional if you didnt do well on a test before that.

The professor always kept us up to date on when the assignments were due and thoroughly explained all the information needed. The tests aren't the easiest they definitely require the book and videos in the lecture powerpoints were a bit tedious. Overall, a good teacher to take for this class

Her videos are funny and it keeps your attention. You can tell she cares about what she does. Watch the videos so you can know what she will put on the exam. Do all of the assignments on connect, it helps your grade. The only thing that was so confusing was the simulation game, so if you have questions about that, go to the office hours.

The class isnt hard. Her lectures are entertaining with lots of videos as examples that are on the test so make sure you watch the lectures. You have learnsmart and Connect hw which are helpful for tests and for a grade if you do it. I go a B but only cause i slacked a bit. Theres a simulation game in the end which was confusing and pointless.

Knowledgeable professor. Recommend her for MAR3023. Connect homework is long and tedious.

This class is so easy. If you show up on time and do your discussion boards, and play the stupid simulation game you can just breeze through this very easily. My only critique would be that she didn't really teach the class, but rather had speakers come in everyday... So that was annoying. But if you just want to graduate, look no further!

As always, she's a great professor. I can't believe her ratings aren't higher, because she's my favorite Marketing professor at FAU. She's clear with her expectations, and had guest speakers come to class each period and helps students get internships and jobs. I would highly recommend her in any marketing class that she teaches.

Dr. Root is wonderful! She has had a really interesting, relevant career, and she brings this to the classroom, expanding on textbook concepts with real-life examples that make sense and add to the overall experience. She gives thoughtful assignments that are not busy work, and she definitely knows what she is talking about.

Dr. Root is one of the best professors I have ever had. Very clear on what she expects. Four tests with 50 questions in 60 minutes. Is possible with notes, internet and powerpoint slides open. The practice marketing simulation was awesome

Easy to get B or C but impossible to get A. No extra credit or curve. Tests are mostly online but the simulation game is so annoying. It doesn't make sense sometimes, seems like mostly luck.

Lecture capture- 4 open book tests, 5th optional, one proctored exam, lots of HW and the game. No extra credit, clear grading system but tests contained questions on videos in lectures so pay close attention. Game was fun, but, I put way too many hours into this class to get an A, compared to any Finance class. I'm glad it's over.

The simulation game is where I think a lot people give her a lower rating. The criteria for grading is really simple. You need to get a good bank balance. It's as simple as that. Be strategic. Watch what your competitors are doing. See which targets work for you. Keep costs low and you can win. Tests are open book + 1 proctored. Final is optional.

This is the 2nd class I've taken with her. The simulation game is where people lose points. Go to lectures (there aren't many & they are short), do the discussion questions, take the quizzes & take the cert exams you will get a good grade no matter what happens on the simulation

She is a great professor! Go to her office hours, people rarely do that. She has amazing guest speakers and has you take certifications to put on your LinkedIn. There are a lot of assignments, so do not wait until the last minute to do them all. Go to her office hours to ask questions about the simulation game. Overall, I learned a lot.

SUMMER: 5 weeks:3 chapters/week, LS, HW, and quiz for each one. Do the math. LOTS OF WORK. Gives you up to 3 times to retake each. Open book exams, no backtracking on tests. Must read the book and watch lectures to answer some ?s on the tests. Mktg game was not too bad, follow the game rules. Uses great youtube videos. I took this, ACG2 & MAC2233

I loved this class! The tests were not too difficult just know all the vocab words, I printed them out from the power points since the tests were taken at home. The game was not hard at all it took me maybe 30 minutes and I got a 100%. Over all the class is very interesting. MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE COMMERCIALS THAT SHE TALKS ABOUT ! THEY ARE ON TEST

Amazing!I got my Hootsuite cert in this class, got to work as a group with a nonprofit. Did have to do 2 presentations, but the class was easy and I learned a ton. No tests, just open book quizzes, a simulation game (even if you fail you will still pass w/A if you do the other assignments). Lots of guest speakers w/poss. of internships. TAKE HER!

Let me start off by saying you will work a lot in this class. There are a lot of assignments. DO NOT WAIT LAST MINUTE TO DO THEM. Make sure to watch her lectures because some examples she gives WILL BE ON TEST. She is nice, but you have to work for the A. If you watch the lectures take good notes on what she says you'll pass with flying colors.

Easiest class I've ever taken, just make sure you show up because attendance is 20% of the grade. Most of the work in this class is groupwork that is graded for completion. She's a sweetheart but sticks to the syllabus. Take digital marketing with her!!! No papers, no tests. We had a simulation game in which the lowest grade possible was an 80%

Dr. Root is one of the best instructors I have ever had. She inspires her students and makes learning exciting. Dr. Root respects her students. She provides a comprehensive, well-rounded learning experience with a combination of team simulation games, textbook work and individual assignments. She's the best! I have taken her for 2 classes during my undergraduate and received easy A's in both classes. She makes it very easy to follow along. This class was very easy. If you did the assignments and quizzes you'll get an A. There are a few group projects but she gives you a TON of time in class to complete the work. Not much to do outside of class!

A great professor to have for marketing. Her lectures are interesting and focus on real-world applications of the material in the book. That being said, she does not spend much time actually teaching the concepts in the book. Students should have a good understanding of the material just from reading the book. No extra credit! Prof. Root is great! She is very clear in her expectations from the beginning, and she truly wants everyone to get an A. She will give you multiple chances to get a better grade on group assignments and gives great feedback. The only thing I didn't love was sitting through her guest lectures that basically gave the same message week after week.

I thought she was an awesome teacher. She gives a lot of hw (busy work) but as long as you do it you will get a good grade. For the tests, she lets you use the paper book which I highly recommend you get & your notes. Read the chapters and highlight important info and key terms. Watch her lectures because she includes questions from the videos.

This class is very straight-forward. Read the chapters, do the assigned homework, and you will pass. The professor is very kind and caring and wants everybody to pass. She gave some curves on the exams as well. The material itself is fairly easy, but do study and complete your assignments and you will be sure to get an A or B.

A lot of hw BUT if you do them itll help overall grade. Did poorly on some exams and ended up with a B in the class. The material was interesting as well. Would recommend!

Professor Root's class was interesting and her lectures used a lot of current events. I enjoyed the class and the content. Exams are open book, but you cannot use the e-book. So you must buy the physical book.

if you do well on the homework assignments then you will get a good grade in the class exams are open notes and most of the questions are right from the PowerPoint lowest grade for each assignment gets dropped and final is optional depending on your grade in the class take her if you have the chance super easy

took her during second half of summer so it was a lot of work in little amount of time but still managed to get an a+ bc took notes off of lecture. so much hw assigned in the connect mcgraw, especially the learnsmarts take 2+ hours each (but there are chrome extensions to help you answer them faster, tho i didn't use them). 3 exams and 1 optional

Professor Root was an amazing teacher! Her lectures are fun and interesting and she somehow manages to get the most interesting and impressive guest speakers. Furthermore, she is very understanding of her student's personal lives and does everything she can to help students in need. Easily one of the best professors I have had at FAU!

If you read the book, you will pass

Dr. Root is an amazing professor. This class has no exams and no group presentations. She grades every single assignment in less than 30 minutes. The writing assignments are very easy and mostly based on your opinion, and the quizzes are open note and can be completed at home. Overall, it is a very enjoyable and stress-free class.

I took this class online and I really enjoyed it. Professor Root was always easy to reach anytime I had a question. The material all comes from Stukent and everything that will be on the test can be found in the text. This is a class that if you put in the effort you can do well.
