She is hard you have to know what she is thinking every class there's a quiz on past readings she is always right shes not available to help u. she lectures alot and is boring. her tests r all essay and hard she grades very hard

DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASSES!!! She does not answer your questions and is very unclear about what she wants you to do. Doesn't post your grades and gives no guidance to how your are doing in the class and what to do. She does absolutely nothing, saying she in "not an imparter of wisdom, but a facilitator of learning." Don't take if u like ur GPA

Not helpful at all, nor is she clear with her expectations or assignments.

The class was appropriately difficult, certainly college level. Salak was unresponsive to emails and the instructor question section she set up online. She was very unorganized. Half of the documents stated one thing, and the other half stated a completely different thing. Grades were rarely posted and feedback was rare.

I am currently in the class and dropping it today. I have sent Ann THREE emails requesting help or advice because she seems to fail every project I turn in. She has accused me of plagarism as well. I will be writing a letter to the administration about this Professor.

The worst professor I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. My son was born and had to have open heart surgery 5 days after he was born, I was in the hospital for a month and she would not let me take an incomplete/no credit. She made me take a fail because of this. I am currently taking this class again to erase the grade. Avoid her.

DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASSES WITH THIS PROFESSOR! The course work seems easy enough but she leaves absolutely no room for interpretation so no matter confident you feel in your answers, if they aren't what she thinks, you are wrong. She is the most unhelpful and rude teacher I have ever dealt with.

She is completely worthless. All questions go unanswered. She doesn't grade anything till weeks later. Her assignments are lazy attempts pulling from other people's curriculum. The assignments she has created with out stealing someone else's are confusing and unclear. She is possibly the worst professor at Pierce. She needs to be fired immediately.

NO. Just NO. Material was okay and was rather substantial and invigorating but grading was COMPLETE ridiculousness & made no sense. I & other students are exceptional students & writers and I know we deserved better grading on assignments than we received. This teacher obviously have no passion in teaching anymore. I REGRET taking her for English.

No extra credit, no make up assignments or late work, no communication. I have been in full time school for the last 6 years, worst "professor" I have had. I Failed the class.

Ann Salak was by far the worst teacher I've had in my whole life. I sent multiple emails to her asking for clarity on assignments and did not hear back from her at all. I ended up with a non complete in the class due to her lack of communication and general instruction.

Very hard to please. I have done very well in English classes throughout my life and have never struggled more in one than I am right now. Doesn't clarify what you missed when given a bad grade, if you even missed anything. No room for interpretation at all, when asked for an interpretation. I wouldn't recommend taking her for this class.

Her communication is terrible. She does not explain her expectations for assignments well.

She doesn't give very good grades no matter what and is not very clear on expectations. She does not respond when you ask for help, good luck.

I have never spent as much time readingstudying in any other college class as I did in this class. I have never received as low of grades as I did in this class either. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a passing grade. If you are taking this class online because you don't have time I would strongly suggest changing your choice of professor. EXPECT HOMEWORK

Don't ever take this class online. It is ridiculously hard to get a passing grade, even when you are an A student. This teacher's grading system doesn't make sense. It got so bad that all of the students made a group chat hoping that they could figure out a way to earn a passing grade because the teacher was so bad.

I emailed salak with an academic question and she never responded. Kindly, I wrote her another email; I expressed, that I hope she is well, and let her know that I await her response to my question. She harshly started her response with "first off" then listed irrelevant attacks such as not using the mypierce email to write. Rude and uncaring.

Would not recommend her. She never responded to my emails, and more than once she did not follow her rubric when graded. It was very hard to know what she wanted from me in my work. I ended up dropping the class because she had such poor communication skills while being an English Professor.

Taking her online class, Ann is the worst teacher I have ever had in my past and present education. She has no idea how to actually set up and use canvas. Horribly unhelpful to students if you fall even the slightest bit behind. DO NOT TAKE SALAK IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO!

She is the worst teacher. She is not helpful at all. She is very political & this is all she talks about. Very picky on MLA format. She refuses to accept papers written in incorrect MLA format & will not let you re-turn in those papers after fixing it. This makes you receive a 0 on 100 point essays. She a teacher who doesn't want you to succeed.

Salak was by far the worst Professor I've ever taken. Her communication skills are seriously lacking and she hardly provides feedback on work. The reading lectures for assignments are extremely unclear. I struggled through this entire class and I am a straight A student. She made me question my abilites and intelligence. I would never recommend her

Not enough bad things I could say about Salak. Just don't take her and your life will be better. She will never grade the same, no idea what she was looking for on any of my papers because i hardly passed and I am a solid 3.7 student so I'm not some idiot.

I'm so sorry but i absolutely hate Ann. She targeted me and graded so harshly and would flat out lie to me about when assignments were due just so i would do badly. I had a 98% halfway though the quarter and after she caught me "plagiarizing" (one sentence was copied) my grade went down to 78%. DON'T TAKE HER CLASS AT ALL COSTS!!!!

Unless you are available 7 days a week for her class, don't bother. The entire class consists of discussion boards, sound easy? It's not. She requires concise intellectual answers for her daily mon-friday questions as well as consistent responses mon-sunday to everyones posts and don't bother turning in anything late. She takes forever to grade.

Well let's just start off with the 10 page paper that's 60% of your grade. Not helpful whatsoever. I feel like I wasted my money taking her class, I taught myself the material. Very disrespectful professor I would not recommend her class to anyone.

She is a very tough grader and a lot of work goes into my answers and instead of telling me why I've gotten a 4/8 the only comment I get is her specific interpretation. How can you get an interpretation question wrong? Easy, by interpreting differently than she does. Also, you get almost no days off. Post every single day or risk a failing grade!

This has to be the worst teacher I've ever had a class for. If your opinion based answer isn't HER opinion, you will receive a failing grade. The average grade on assignments in her class received was a 60%. She provides awful feedback, she copies and pastes the same lecture response on everyone's grade.

She was absolutely the worst teacher I have ever had. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. She is terrible. I am a 4.0 student she FAILED me. She said I had a "learning disability" I excelled in English and Writing. If its not her way you will fail. She was a horrible horrible teacher.

I love Drama & English and I wish I dropped this class. Unreasonable expectations. Impractical to take another class the same time, participation 7 days a week. Syllabus vague & unclear. Poor feedback/communication, slow to grade. Lectures/assignments obviously copy/pasted. Your writing ability is key. Good luck getting a good grade & staying sane.

Ann Salak has too high of expectations for students. Since it is an online class, we had 3 discussions every week, along with papers and group projects. She expects at least 6 responses in the discussions, but there's no way you can actually talk that much about a single poem. It was a very difficult class, and I don't recommend taking it.

Answers students questions by stating to read the lecture rather than explaining something. Tough grader; docs double the points than what she should.

Ann Salak is the worst professor I have ever had. She gave me a 0 on a paper because there were two sentences that weren't indented. She was never in her office when she said she would be, impossible to get a hold of, and pretty much had us teach ourselves with the book. Plus, she told me I was being "too creative"..... Yeah, don't take her!!!!

I took Ann for Eng 102 and needless to say I would not recommend anyone to take her. She isn't helpful, very tough grader, and beyond rude to her students. It's her way or no way. Do not take her.

Extremely rude and condescending. When I actually managed to catch her in her office hours she would constantly cut me off and stonewall me without listening or trying to talk. Except for the annotated bibliography assignment, the feedback she offers is really limited to "you didn't do it correctly" so it is hard to learn from mistakes.

This professor made it hard for me to tell if it was the actual class that was difficult, or it was just her teaching of it. Humiliated students regularly when they asked questions, and made her disapproval known through intimidation when giving feedback on less than perfect assignments. If you have to take this class, DO NOT TAKE ANN SALAK.

Ann Salak ruined my life and refused to grade my papers, was never in her office, and was extremely rude. I would rather eat the crusts on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich than take her ever again.

If you're looking for an understanding or compassionate professor, search elsewhere. Did life happen? Too bad. Remember in high school when they told you college would be hard? She's the prof that they warned you about.

Its like she suddenly hated my work overnight, commenting that this doesnt connect, you didnt say which poem, your participation was poor when everyone else and my fellow group members understood or participated in the same manner. Terrible teacher who had one grading type good or I hate it

Worst professor I have ever had. She grades based on her own personal views and opinions, and fails to realize that everyone interprets literature differently. She never gives helpful feedback, just rude comments. Do NOT take her class if you want a professor who grades everyone's work equally. She is terrible.

This was the worst instructor I've ever had. Don't take her. She doesn't tell you what you need to do to get a good grade. She won't answer your questions but just refers you back to the syllabus THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE and was the source of the question in the first place! She doesn't communicate well. Very frustrating.

Worse way to start my college career. Never take a class with Ann Salak. I have never got under a B in an english class in my life and this year I'm suddenly struggling with keeping myself afloat. She rarely gives you feedback and even if something matches her work exactly she still tends to tell you it's done "incorrectly" even if its in the book.

I took this class online with Salak and I HATED it. DO NOT take any classes with her. She is such a picky grader and the reading does not help you with the little things she grades you on. I spent up to 12 hours a day on her class. Keep in mind that english has always been tough for me. Be prepared for hella work and reading.

Ms. Salak gave lectures nonstop during class but it was more of a conversation than a lecture which was nice. I will say though that I am GREAT at writing and English and I failed this class. Her quizzes are essays. Her argumentative essay was to write about a topic with factual evidence but no sources? She was not clear at all in her instructions.

This is the worst class i've ever taken. All the assignments do not make sense, I never understand the reading and theres literally nothing I can do about it. This class makes me want to jump off a cliff.

I was so excited to take this class... She ruined it for me. The readings we read were interesting, but she does not elaborate what she is looking for in any assignment, and will grade you down for not guessing what she wants. Also won't reply when you ask why you got the grade you did. All the quizzes are essays that you don't get to prepare for.
