Good teacher and the class isn't too tough; you get a cheat sheet for each exam (usually 4 including the final) and extra credit on each exam for attendance; also, she sometimes lets you see the test the class period before you take it.
The best math teacher I have had.
Ann is great. I true asset to the school!
HARD! Funny and lively teacher.
She is simply the best in her field. This teacher will help you if your having trouble understanding the math!!! She is the most fair teacher I have ever had.
Great teacher, very willing to help students. Her labs can be a bit long, though. I'd recommend her to anyone having a tough time in Calc 2.
Professor steen is really nice and helpfull. She enjoys teaching and helping her students. I strongly recommend taking her for any math class.
Prof Steen is very nice. She explains things very clear and lets you look at the test for a few minutes the day beforehand. Do the homework and you will pass the class. Also, if you go to class everyday you will recd 5 extra points on the test. Very cool
fair, final was very very nice and easy. She is very forgiving where grades are concerned. Easily achieved an A with minimal study.
I didn't enjoy her class. I love math but she makes it impossible to want to learn. She is nice but when you ask questions she gives you the, are you an idiot look. I don't recommend her to anyone unfortunately. I am a math whiz and showed up to class all the time and hated every moment of it.
Excellent prof. Explains everything clearly but she does go a little fast. She knows her stuff and will go slow if you ask her. If don't ask questions, she will assume you know and speed off to the next topic.
take her for trig! you get a cheat sheet and what other prof. does that! the only thing is that her test are kinda hard but she doesn't grade homework and you get 3 different ways to add up your final grade.
Ann is super nice. She shows great respect toward her students and she is extremely fair. She gives 5 points extra on each test for perfect attendance. She lets you have a cheat sheet for each test, and the tests are very fair. She is very clear in her lectures. I Highly recommed her.
Horrible. Liar, not helpful. I will never take her, nor recommend her to anyone. I ws told she has changed and is nicer. I'd have to see it to believe it.
This Lady is a Very Good Math Teacher. Do the homework and ask questions during her office hours and you will most likely earn an A. I think she is pretty nice too!!!
she allows you to have a cheat sheet. you have to do your homework to understand the math. i took Cohen before her and I prefer her to him. she's really nice and gives quizes to take the place of your lowest test in the end.
If you can't get an A in her class, it is because you didn't try. she does everything she can to make it easy. even lets you have a cheat sheet if you want. i didn't need one and got an A
Mrs. Steen does make a hard class somewhat easier. She lets you have a cheat sheet for formulas and calculator steps. She moves a little fast at times but she will back up and explain if you ask her to.
Mrs. Steen is a great teacher. It is a pretty hard class but she is willing to back at all times. She asks you at all steps of it if we understand along with sharing stories about her daughter... lol... they are always amusing...
Very unclear in her teaching. Tests are difficult cotaining material not clearly taught. Moves to quickly, DOES NOT always go back to reexplain if asked.
She is horrible. She is unbelievably boring. When you ask questions or ask her to repeat something, she gives off the impression that is is irritated. If you are a math whiz, take her because you are the only kind of person she seems to tolerate.
funny teacher with lots of energy! she lets your have a cheat sheet, gives extra points for perfect attendance and has lots of bonus questions on tests and quizzes. she does move a little fast so pay attention!!! great class.
SHES A GOOD TEACHER .. SHE KNOWS WHAT SHES DOING. BUT SOMETIMES SHE GOES A LITTLE TOO FAST. YOU JUST HAVE TO KEEP UP WITH HER. SHE GIVES OUT HOMEWORK .. BUT NEVER CHECKS IT. SHES A GOOD TEACHER.
I don't know if the semester was too short or if there was a lot of material to cover or she just lectured really fast. But it seemed like we didn't have enough time to cover everything.
If you are terrible in math and need a slow explinantion w tons of examples dont take her. She is a great teacher for those who understand math and need little help. But if youre anything like me and need extra time with all the steps to learn how to do coll. algebra then dont take her.
Ms. Steen is a good teacher. I would definitely recommend her. The cheat sheets helped me a lot during the tests. She asks if you understand and are ready to move on at various times during the class. That way you can ask a question about something if you need too.
trig is not easy to begin with but she tris to make the best of it. the cheat sheet really hepls on tests and quizzes. she has a lot of energy and likes to move VERY quickly through her examples. you have to ask her to slow down at least a few times during each class. overall, she's okay.
Not helpful, if you miss 1 or 2 classes she feels that you are doomed in the class. If she is in for her office hours, your still not likely to get to talk to her, personal life takes priorty. Only seems to help out the really talented math students, and gets irritated at those who are not.
Great teacher, great style, and great presentation. Intelligent and respectfull.
Very unclear in her teaching. Tests are difficult cotaining material not clearly taught. Moves too quickly through her lessons. And if you don't keep up, you don't understand the problems that she is teaching you
Mrs. Steen was very unhelpful and rude. She taught at a very fast speed which kept me and other students back and left us frustrated. She also assumed that the students had a pre-algebra course that taught all of the gigantic calculator tricks so basically if you were too smart to skip pre-algebra you were screwed.
I think that she grades on a bell curve because I made 2 very high B's and 2 A's and did well on all my labs and I still ended up with a B. She goes fast in the lectures. I recommend getting a math tutor for her classes because she will not back up and teach concepts you are rusty on.
Take Teague. If you are going on to Diff Eq and Calc 3 be sure to learn your integration techniques. It will make it a lot easier. To Calc 1 students going on to Calc 2, know your derivative formulas and rules. It will carry you a long way. Trig students going on to the Calc series, don't forget your trig identities, you will use them later.
Basically, she confused herself. I'm taking her class right now, but it's just horroble. Make sure you gotta do your homework, and that is the only way make yourself clear
only take her if you are really good at math. she goes way too fast and just spends most of the class period reviewing homework and not "teaching" new material... Doing the homework would really help.
ms. steen is very unapproachable and seems to teach us like a robot with no personality. She is one of the few teachers I'd didn't have rapport with. I'd be suprised if she knew our names...
Ms. Steen did go through new material very quick, just don't be afraid to speak up and ask her what she is doing. Must still have good algebra skills. She has great office hours and is there to help those who ask for it. Although the homework isn't graded, it helps you through the class immensely. Extra credit opportunities are available.
this teacher teaches way to fast. she doesnt collect the homework, which means p times out of 10 no one is going to do it. what is the point of assigning homeworkif you arent going to check it and see how your students are doing? I dont think anyone in her class passed. She gives you three test and a final, that it. no homework and no quizzes. I wo
Helped me out a lot. i was going to have to pay the out of state because it was my 3rd time in the class. But she pulled some strings and helped me out. i am dumb and she helped me through my dumbness.
she is a robot. goes at light speed, but you can go to her other classes in the day for further study, in which i did, but i missed about 5 or 7 days with sfcc's stupid rule for missing class, they take off letter grades.!! and so i didn't do so well in the end. but was pretty easy i guess...? should of gotten an A.! but o well..
Very good teacher. I would take her again.
she clumps info into tests
O MY GOD! Cant teach! Comes in late every day! Talks the whole time if you get a question in she will answer it both if you dont get it she will tell you go to the math lab! Doesnt care about students! If you come in late or leave earily she will make a production of it!
Steen is a great teacher. Her class is fun, fast, and interesting. She gives you back what you put in it.She is fair, she is consistent, she is knowledgeable. In her class, you get what you earn. She makes you think. She helps you find the ways to the problems. She encourages you.She inspired me to grow. She inspired me to continue the Math line.SheisTheBEST!
Great teacher. Show up to class and keep up with daily homework and you'll do well! She gives extra credit and points for perfect attendance. You can have formulas for test & quizes and she reviews what's going to be on the test the day before. I will be taking her again.
Worst math teacher ever. run away if you value your family, shell burn them too.
This was by far the hardest math I have ever taken only because I suck. I gave her a good grade because she does give a lot of chances to pass and 2 way to get a final grade. She writes the HW on the board everyday so I went to class to get the hw then left for my private tutor. Attend or not doesn't matter. I passed,(C),Math, never again!MUAWWW
worst math class i have ever taken, she is unclear and goes way too fast!! do not take her!
hardest math class i have ever taken! she goes soo fast and always has a hard time answering questions! everyone was always so lost! i went to her for extra help and she told me to go find a tutor! worst teacher everrrrrr!
Worst teacher ever. Strongly not recommend for her class, gave lots of homework and unfair on the grading system.
The rating isnt entirely true. i used to be an engineer so the course material was very easy for me. However most of the class seemed to be lost on a daily basis. if you are good at math take her class, if not i would suggest someone else.
Good teacher over all, she's pretty good at describing problems and she shows examples using her calculator. The tests are a cake-walk if you study a little bit or do your homework constantly. The homework isn't collected, so it's up to you what you'd like to do. Not the best teacher if you don't know math, but if you usually do well, she's fine.
The best teacher i took the whole semester. She talks extremely loudly so i couldn't fall asleep in class if i had wanted to. She claimed she would randomly collect the mountains of homework she assigns but she never did. Her tests (which are the only grades, really) aren't tricky and her lectures are worthwhile. She's also extremely nice and offer
She is a great teacher. You should attend class everyday because you will get five points on your test if you have perfect attendence. she allows a cheat sheet of formulas for the test. She explains things to you and tells you what kind of problems to expect on the test.
Ann Steen is en excellent Math teacher. She speaks lound and very clear. She knows how to convey the material. HIGHLY recommend her :)
Excellent! If you are a good student, you will get an A. If you are not, it's your problem.
all her test are scantron so if you're not sure, so at lest have a good guess. shes very helpful and will stay after to assist and will go over any problem you need as many times as you need. she also speaks to you and not at you or down on you.
She is a really good teacher, she is really helpful and tells you exactly what will be on the test, question for question, so there are no surprises. She moves a little fast in class because she drinks so much coffee, but if you do the HW you'll get, if you have any questions, she will answer them. She is really nice and always in a good mood.
I guess she knows what shes talking about but i didnt not like her method and she went to fast.
I thought she was helpful at first, I passed the gateway...then was given false belief that I was doing good in the class. I don't even know how I failed. Very displeased with her actions!!
Pro Steen is nice and friendly. She teaches briskly and allow fexibilty in her classes. However, sometimes the teaching pace is rather fast and may affect understanding.
Too fast-paced. She's nice, and tries to hook it up with extra credit, but if you're a Lummox like me who punches kittens while raging over math problems, you'll have trouble. My main problem was that the textbook was dreck. It was written by SFCC profiteers and doesn't provide any solid examples for dullards like me to referrence.
Professor Steen is REALLY nice, she lets you use a cheat sheet for all of the tests, and she goes over whats going to be on the tests the class before. She does move fast, but she always checks to see if everyone understands, and she'll go back if you dont. I totally recommend taking her!
STAY AWAY!!!! This professor is such a pain. She teaches you the hard way to do everything! I knew all the stuff she was teaching and yet the way she taught it made me not know how to solve problems anymore. She never emails back, and I made A's on all the tests, a D on the final, and she threw my final away. Still ticked about that. Don't take her
very hard to keep up with her, incomprehesible most of the time. but her tests are okay.
She is very fair and I liked her class. Shes really nice also. I hate math but Mrs. Steen made it applicable to real-life and I learned a lot. The quizzes were pretty easy. Just go to class and pay attention. She teaches kind of fast but if you tell her to slow down and ask questions she will!
Good Instructor! She lets you use a cheat sheet, goes over the tests, and any questions on the HW. She wants to be sure everyone is clear before moving on. Speak up if you don't understand and do the HW will help with the tests!
Really shows you how to use your calculater, and that alone makes her class worth taking
DO NOT TAKE. This woman is extremely annoying and does not help. She is disorganized and her "lessons" are all out of order and scrambled. She wants you to pass so she lets you use cheat sheets on your tests, but you have to teach yourself ALL of the material. She can NOT teach. dont do it!
Really good math teacher. Very helpful in and out of class. Wants everyone to understand the topics and HW is not mandatory...but it helps.
Extra credit for complete attendance, quizes all tests are multiple choice. I SUCK at math, never did a homework prob and got a B+
Steen is not necessarily difficult but she's definately not easy. You do receive extra credit for being in class everyday, her notes are slightly helpful and homework assignments are not for a grade. Although, during the end of the semester, she was definately confusing, but she'll answer many questions that you ask of her.
Ms. Steen was a great math teacher. She lets you use cheat sheets which definitely help on your quizzes and tests. She allows you to either drop all of your quizzes or your lowest test score. Homework is not mandatory, but it helps you learn. She gives you extra credit for perfect attendance prior to each test.
Mrs. Stten is an awsome teacher. She lets you use a check sheet for all exams!! Their are no tricks on her test. They are just striaght forward. She gives lots of extra credit oppertunities. Take her and you will pass with at least a B.
Professor Steen makes the material easy to undarstand. She is helpful and nice. On tests you are able to use a cheat sheet, therefore you don't have to memorize, learn equations. I highly recomend professor steen! :)
Tests are multiple choice. Can't get too much easier in a math class.
Great teacher. She really knows what she is teaching and what you need for the future classes. Really loves her job. Her test can be somewhat hard if you don't study. Do your homework everyday, and always ask questions and you will do fine.
Please take her for trig...she is just best, andshe gives you all the material for quiz, test and final..which helps u lot..All I can say is that she is just best.
She is a good teacher and does a good job explaining the content. You have to attend class or you will miss critical information. Her tests are very hard (hard to finish in the time allotted) but if you do the homework you will be fine. The tests are multiple choice and you get to use a cheat sheet. I would take her again. Very helpful.
Don't take Steen!! Just took her and went to all classes since she gives extra credit for perfect attendance, did all HW, expressed need to pass, and still wasn't able to. Don't take if you need a slower teaching method, she works at lightning speed pace. New departmental final was given at end of semester, 25 multiple choice 11 short answer, bewar
Too outrageous and unorganized for my taste. Note taking was a hassle due to unorganized setting up. Unable to identify that student is having trouble. Constantly changed manner in which quizzes and tests were taken.
Ignore every negative comment. She is an outstanding professor and is actually very organized. She gives you a cheat sheet to bring to your exam and also allows to you look at the exam the class before the test for 5 minutes therefore there should be no reason to fail her tests. I definitely recommend her!
She a Amazing professor sads shes retiring if u can get a good grade your a clown cheat sheet on test plus 5 points on your test for coming to class everyday. Extreme Helpful The Great King Murcer would recommend her over all other Mac1105 teachers
GOOD PROFESSOR IF U CANT GET A GOOD GRADE WIT A CHEAT SHEET AND 5 POINTS EXTRA ON YOUR TEST DROP OUT OF COLLEGE ITS NOT FOR YOU KING MURCER RECOMMENDS HER OVER ANY OTHER MAC 1105 TEACHER
Do Not Take Steen!! She was the most incomprehensive math professor I have ever taken. She doesn't give good notes at all. Her tests are hard and she never has a lesson plan set up for class she just comes in and wings it. Too disorganized for my taste and unwilling to help students.

Loved Steen. She's great. Test is multiple choice. If you don't like her, go work at Walmart.
