Her lectures are boring, but she gives notes online for you to follow. She's anal if she finds ppl sleeping in class or not takin notes. Tests aren't so bad, study notes. She does offer extra credit (coming to class everyday &/or a paper)
She is a drag. takes the enjoyment out of history. boring lectures. kind of liberal. many stupid movies. her essay tests are good though. they help prepare for university level work
Very difficult course and unorganized notes. All tests are essays, but a study guide is given. Very boring class, cold teacher, and difficult tests.
Somehow I managed to pass with "B"... I was satisfied with my grade. Essay tests were easy as long as you do the reading. Extra credit in her class saved my butt! I will probably take her again b/c I know how she is, and that I can pull off pas
This teacher is extremely mean. The exams are too long and confusing, they don't match with the notes. The notes are pointless...might as well just read the book alone and not attend the lectures. She is very rude.
If you are lazy or dont care about school, you will hate her. If you want to learn and enjoy bettering yourself, she is awesome. She prepares you for the real world, princesses need not apply.
Very boring, just lectures with overhead & transparencies, but if u do the reading, easy A.
Very rude teacher. Lectures are boring, tests long and hard. But if you read the book, you will do fine.
Good lectures, but you'd better know the material. Comes off as rude, but you'd come off as rude to some folks if you picked on people who weren't paying attention in class. It's best to know the material and print out the notes she provides for you.
i got a C in her class, but i was very lazy and barely studied, so her class really isnt that difficult, shes just not very interesting and you have to take A LOT of notes
VERY boring and pointless lectures. Very short essay tests that are FAIRLY easy if u read the book (dont bother with the notes...). she doesnt hand back the tests, so u dont know why u got the grade u got. i'd probably never take her again.
This teacher is horrible. Please don't take this class, unless you like inflicting pain upon yourself.
This class was horrible. When she lectures, she jumps from one time period to another...very annoying. Very boring lectures...and pointless movies. She does offer a lot of extra credit...that's the only good thing about this class
Makes you take a ton of notes, and gets mad at you if you don't, despite the fact everything she makes you write down is in the text. Class is boring.
Not an easy class!...a lot of notes and boring lectures.
Lecture notes barely is a help on her test, the review guide doesn't at all. Only tip for her class is knowing that the website with practice quiz she gives will help, because she make the test based on it.
Don't take this class if you want an A or a B.
I took her class last semester and it wasn't so difficult. Read the book carefully and be prepared for the exams. Easy A. The class is boring though. I bet you can't read her handwritings lol
Lectures are very boring. All you do is take notes from overhead. The multiple choice part of the tests is semi-hard but as long as you make up for it in the essay part with lots of facts you'll do fine. Easy A if you try.
Not a bad class like every1 says. Her tests are hard and hard to recieve any higher than a C in class. X credit ava. Very nice 2 talk to. You have to take notes or she'll ****. Just study hard and do the practice tests online and you'll be fine.
Was an ok teacher i guess. Her tests were hard but she did curve it which saved me. And besides she gives out 60 points of Extra Credit that saved me. Just do those and you can get a good grade.
Worst teacher at OCC! Subject matter taught with no enthusiasm at all. Doenst care at all about her students. Never to be recomended. I reported her to the dean!
Do Not What-So-Ever take this teacher! Dr. Whynn was a total witch to me. I have a writting problem(do to nerve damage in my wrist)...I told her about it and she was like "So, it's not my problem." She doesn't like to help the students or anything. Plus she had some of her informaiton wrong.
The people here only complain because they're the ones sleeping in class (which is really rude). Yes, it is somewhat boring but it is an easy A if you read the text and use common sense. At least pretend to be taking notes and you'll be set.
Sarcastic to students who ask for help.
Shees not as bad as she may seem at first. She knows her stuff, and if you read and pay attention, youll be fine. She seems a little gruff, but shes okay really.
It's hard to believe that this woman wrote her PhD thesis on how to make history learning fun. The class would be easy if she was more clear. All she does is rewrite her notes on the overhead. She's boring and late every day. You can tell she wants to be there even less than you do.
Ok, for those people complaining, u must've been really lazy. This class is by far the easiest I have ever taken. All you need to do is ****ing read what she tells you to read. She does seem mean at 1st, but just remember to take notes always and never miss more than one class. Tests are off notes.
she goes all over the place in lecture and is therefore hard to follow. boring class, uninterested teacher, but she grades easy.
she just thinks outloud. never lectures on what the test is about. the first test i studied text and notes, got a d... the rest i didnt studied and just guessed on the questions and got c's. she is crazy. do all you can to avoid her.
It was an easy A, but I had to read a lot. The study guide is helpful. Im really interested in history, but shes not able to give an interesting class, but she tries...prepare yourself for long hours in this class...
Do NOT take this class unless you are frantically running around campus the first day of school trying to find a class that will fill some stupid requirement, and all the others are full so you HAVE to take this one because it is empty andis the only one you can get in to. Subject matter, could be interesting. Easy A, 20 pt e.c for perfect attend
Absolute hands down WORST teacher I have ever had in my entire life. Sarcastic to questions, poor notes, constantly rambling about issues not related to class, incorrect information, tests are ridiculous. I passed her class with a B, but hated every single second of it.
Not sure wheather she was going to be nice from one minute to the next. She is very unclear in what she expects. She is very sarcastic when students ask questions. makes you want to be quiet. Makes you feel embarrassed for other students when they are her target. READ READ READ!!!
do NOT take her. She is ok if you HAVE to, but I would not recommend her. Definetly do your reading. Her tests are on specific details in the reading..she lectures all class but the tests have nothing to do with lecture. Not approachable & pretty tough!
she is a great teacher if you are a history major. lectures are full of details and statistical stuff. exams are essays based on notes and reading. she gives you a list of potential exam essay topic. her study guides are very vague and half asked. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS do the reading. if not, tough luck.
Summer: 2 midterms, final, and paper due.I never really studied and got a C.However, her lectures are pretty boring.plays short videos and they are cool but tend to put us to sleep. She has you form study groups. However nobody does the work(keyterm defs) so it just wound up being a waste of time. Can't expect a large forum to work like a small class.
She gets a lot of bad reviews I think just because she can be a little hard to follow. She is a great teacher if you are a history major. If you hate history however then you will have a hard time. Lot's of studying.
very boring, fell asleep everyday in class.
not as bad as some people say. i had her in a small class and got an A and im not usually a A student. theres an oral presentation that helps boost ur grade

if you want to sort through hundreds of unclear facts and dates, take her class. By far the most boring class thus far in my college career.
She is really boring to listen to, but the class and material itself isn't so bad. She offers extra credit for coming everyday which is pretty unreasonable considering we all have to miss once in awhile. She lets you drop one exam which is good. Would only reccomend her if you have no other choice, which is what happened to me.
If you have no no choice take her, otherwise I recommened you stay away!! Her lectures are very boring, plus have nothing to do with the exams! In order to pass you really have to read the book! And what kind of a History teacher makes you write a 4pg DBQ essay??

I had her class at 8 am in the morning and I do admit that I had trouble staying awake in class. The key word for this class is the document based essay!!! It may be a nuisance to do and might not have anything to do with the class but it helps your grade tremendously!
she gets off topic easily and pray u dont have a classmate that likes to argue cause she loves to, she lectures after each test, no extra cred except a few points 4 perfect attendance, which isnt worth it, bad experience all around
GOOD CLASS TO SLEEP THAT'S FOR SURE. BAD TEACHER TO BE TEACHING ON A FRIDAY @ 8am. REALLY HARD TO HEAR AND LEARN. JUST READ/STUDY YOURSELF. YOU DON'T REALLY NEED HER. JUST DO WELL ON HER QUIZZES (she gives them out as a group) AND HER TESTS. BUT REALLY FOCUS ON THE FINAL EXAM. THAT WILL REALLY HELP YOU OUT TO PASS HER TEST.
Good class - I got an "A", but it was really hard - READ YOUR BOOK! her lecture really doesnt cover everything that is on the test. Historical movie review is easy (she doesnt even read them- she just hands that "A" out) - 20 extra credit points for not missing class - she doesn't like cell phones or people who leave in the middle of class.
the class itself is very boring. i had it at 8AM in the morning. sher testes are not hard, multiple choice. i didn't even buy the book, i just print out her lecture notes online and then when she lecture about it, i took extra notes in class. IF SHE MENTION ANYTHING OVER AND OVER AGAIN....99% IT WILL BE ON THE TEST. i got an easy A
I had the most absences (8) and the highest grade in the class! I believe she graded my document based essay biasly b/c it took the opposite position of her PhD. dissertation. If you like being talk to like a child & long silences provoked by retorical questions which she expects answer to HEY IT WAS EASY FOR ME!
NOT good
I TOOK HER CLASS THAT IS HALF ONLINE AND HALF IN CLASS AND SHE IS A HORRIBLE TEACHER. SHE IS CONSTANTLY CHANGING HER RULES . FOR EXAMPLE, SHE FIRST HAD OPEN BOOK QUIZES, THEN CLOSED. SHE HAS VERY UNORGANIZED HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS . OH, AND DURING CLASS, EVERYONE HAS TO BE LOOKING STREIGHT AT HER AT ALL TIMES OR ELSE SHE GETS REALLY PISSED
Totally doesn't care about her students....her class is incredibly hard and a lot of work....u really can't be taking a full load of classes and still pass her class....but she gives extra credit so thats cool....but DON'T TAKE HER IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO
I don't know what all the fuss is about yeah her class can be boring, but she shows videos sometimes and her tests aren't hard. You take a ten question quiz after finishing a chapter in lecture which didn't count and you get a point of participation credit just for taking it. I didn't even buy the book and I got an A. The life saver is her DBQ (
This was the half online and haf in class version and in 8 weeks. This is a good class but way too busy for 8 weeks.
This teacher doesn't give out homework. She has you write a do****ent based question essay and it is due in mid class (hard essay!) You read a ton and you better pay attention or else she will let you know in front of the whole class. She gives little xtra credit by open book quizzes in class. Her test are kinda hard but some ques. are easy.
I think she's a good teacher. Definitely not an easy class, you need to read the book thoroughly. But her lectures help the information digest easier.
I had this class in the forum at 8 in the morning. The class wasnt hard at all the do****ent based essay was basically taking sentences from the do****ents she provides and making it into an essay i got an A on it, and an A in the class. 3 exams (lowest score dropped) and a final. thats it. hardest part was staying awake in class.
I thought the class would be very difficult but its really not. It seems like shes asking for a lot, and i was surprise to get an A. Her tests are essay formats but prior to the test, she gives you 7 questions to study from...and she puts 3 and you choose 2 to answer from. She gives a lot of extra credit!
Class was not that easy considering i didnt buy the book (too damn expensive) but if dont have the book then you ar screwed cuz all her tests are from the book. Not interesting at all, learned a little bit. I dont recommend her but if shes the last resort just make sure you have the book
If there is a professor who hates her job (or life) and shows it its her. if there are any good comments about this proffessor they must be from one of her relatives or from herself even... she sucks
She comes across as a little rough at first, but her class was quite easy. I didn't touch the book once and managed a B. She let me contest my grade on one of the essays and raised it 10% after I "proved my knowledge of the topic verbally", but HIST 150 doesn't count for general ed, so I just wasted my time.
shes no help at all dont take her
Dr. Wynne is a teacher i could never enjoy. She is late everyday to class, has no percentage scale to base your grade off of until after you complete an assignment, and requires a power point presentation from you. The class is filled with lame reports by the students and old movies, while she just sits around. Take her only if you have to.
Dr.Wynne can seen as a pretty strict teacher if you expect to just get by without doing anything. I contested my grades on two of my papers with valid points and she raised my grades on both papers. After sitting and talking with her i found out that she is fair and really nice. Very easy to talk to. Just communicate with her and you'll do fine.
Dr. Wynne is so nice and helpful. I don't understand why so many rated her so low. She's really easy to talk to. I took her 8-week hybrid class. I'm glad I did. I don't like history, but I really enjoyed this class. This is not a class for people who want to just sit there and do nothing. You have to earn your grade, but it isn't really that hard.
you don't need the book. if you have the ability to take 1/2 decent notes then you will get an A for sure. she really does want you all to get A's so just come to class and stay up- is that too hard?
This is one of the best classes I have ever had! I would like to take one of Dr. Wynne's classes again just for fun.I learned so much and she is such a great teacher! She really knows her facts and dates and I feel lucky to have had such a good teacher. Why she isn't at a university I do not know. She is brilliant. I am happy to say she is at OCC.
she more interesting then some of the other history teachers at occ
She's a history buff and has a passion for it, however, don't expect to not to read the book and get by on the midterm & Final. Her test's are in essay format which will require you study for it if you want a good grade. One of my harder classes last semester but she does offer 60 extra credit points, 20 of those if you have perfect attendence.
Very interesting and helpful as far as providing study guides for all the tests. She even throws out the worst of your first three tests!
Really a very interesting teacher if you actually listen. Also, she is extremely helpful and really does want everybody to do well.
She is a very easy teacher. i slept in her class every day and still got an easy A. 3 tests and drops 1. in addition she gives out a final and a presentation. Just read or take notes on her lecture. Do one or the other and you'll get an easy A.
Good teacher but I had a 3 hour lecture course from her and I fell asleep everyday.
decent teacher. if you memorize the study guide the class isnt too hard. the lectures are super boring. the practice tests in class are also very important. she takes questions straight from her in class tests.
Her classes are super boring to go to and she talks non stop and nags alot. Its hard to take notes cause she speaks really fast and is all over the place. I would NOT take her. She is unclear on what is on the test and rambels. However, she curves the class like crazy so thats a plus.
This Class was so boring. I tried taking her for history 100, and I actually like history, but I had to withdrawl because she just wasnt good.
by far shes the worst teacher that ive ever had. her lectures are super boring and very long. she always thinks shes right. very stubborn. but shes pretty easy at grading i would say. and her tests are extremely confusing.
Sucked the fun out of an interesting subject for me. Her tests tend to have a lot of "choose the best answer" style questions and questions with subjective answers. She at least grades on a massive curve so it should be easy to get an A, but it is rather frustrating deciphering what her opinion would be on a question with multiple correct answers.
I really don't like history it is my weakest subject. I actually learned a lot from her but it was mostly the interest that I put in my studying. I studied everyday in order to get a good grade. I took the 4 week summer school session. She goes back and forth on subjects. Take her if you want a challenge during summer school;Grading curve is great
Would NOT recommend taking this class. 3 and a half hour lecture class where 85% of the students fall asleep. She lectures with zero student involvement and then shows videos. Will call you out if she sees you arent taking notes and her tests are very difficult. NOT a good class by any means.
Listen Korean students~! Stay away from her!! She always says about that she's got the Doctoral Degree from UCLA history major.. but she doesn't know how to teach~! She has a SLEEPY VOICE. She is a Old Grand Mother that lost her passion. Bad attitude toward other than WHITE! I didn't like her opinion toward slave part..?!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS... Thank god I passed. I hated going to this class. She does not teach the class like she wants to be there. She has everyone do a biography report, and then a test to follow. Lame. Avaid taking this class at all costs.
Straight forward teacher, your only assignments include a historiography report 2pgs, a power point & research paper 3-4 pgs,two tests and a cumulative final. Keep up with the reading and you will be golden.
Mixed feelings. Yes she comes off as rude and cold but she isn't THAT bad. I took her summer course, dropped it and re-took the 2nd 8-week session during Fall. MUCH better. Her 2nd 8week session is self-taught. So if you're disciplined, read and do ALL the homework and discussions you should be fine. The webliography was easy. I got an "A".
I'm having 5th grade flashbacks in this class. Until now, I've never had a college prof. tell us, "OK, now be sure and write this down!" Perfect class if you're a drooling idiot that needs to be told when and what to write. Boring lectures, outdated videos, and catering to the laziest students all remind me of 5th grade. Skip this one if you can.
Though I fall asleep in almost every single one of her class, Professor really knows her stuff! She can do a lot better than teaching at a junior college.
Very boring. And VERY hard to stay awake. She isn't very clear either. Attendance is mandatory obviously. I think she is over teaching and just does the same routine over without excitement. Boring. Boring. Boring. Also, if you aren't watching her while she is talking, she will call you out.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS if she is the professor! borinnggg borinnggg...always late and more latee...and she talks about everything and anything not related to the topic of the lecture. just avoid having her as a professor. end of story.
BOOOOOORING. She is ALWAYS late. ALWAYS. Usually about 15-25 minutes late and the class is only 1hr. 25min. long. She gets really mad if you're not paying attention but it's so hard too when she's so boring. She plays some OLD movies. If you read the book though, you can pretty much do good on the tests. AVOID TAKING HER CLASS.
The test questions come out of the book, in-class quizzes, and the book's online quizzes. There's a paper, but she hands you all the information to it so its not hard. If you actually do the reading this class is EASY. After tests she continues class, just leave, you won't miss much. She plays videos, which if perfect for some nap time.
I can see why people might give her a bad review, but its not because of anything she does really, my only complaints are that she shows up late to an 8:00 am class (Just make it 8:30) and then she continuously interrupts the session to call people put on their sleeping, when we have a TA. She wants to have her students succeed.
She is a hard ass when it comes to sleeping in class, constantly calls people out.. I haven't a clue why she does do it.. You definately need to read and pay attention in class.. She's hot
The most boring class in the world. She does curve her tests though. Treats you like your five and dogs anyone that comes in late. Shes fine as hell
Content-boring. Grading-easy. Professor-horrible! She is very late everyday even on exam days but gets annoyed when you do it. hypocritical. If you are on laptop, will accuse you of not paying attention. Gives you wrong answers. Not very helpful. very unprofessional. Lethargic & talks in monotone voice. Really moody and acts like she hates her job.
One of the worst teachers I've ever had. She puts notes up on the board that will not cover what she is discussing & doesn't give you time to write down what she says or whats on the board. Her study guides have terms never discussed & i found most my information on Wikipedia. Avoid having her class if you can.. She seems to hate her job anyway.
History 100: I don't get why she got such a bad rating. She is fairly interested in the subject she teaches, and if you actaully pay attention and not day dream, her class is passable. I got a B. However, that was me taking notes constantly and reading all the chapters that were assigned. So this class does require effort. Take it.
She tends to drone, and it's a large lecture hall but don't fall asleep - key questions on tests are hidden in her speeches. READ THE TEXTBOOK or you'll flounder. There's a research essay, but grading is ok. Tests are based mostly on the book & lecture; take notes on tiny details that may seem unimportant. Those random Spanish words are important.
Her class tends to drag on, don't fall asleep she will call you out. Fortunatly she is smoking hot so you do have something to stare at all class. Test are fairly easy as is the essay. No extra credit, but you dont need it.
if you dont like history then by the end of this class you will hate it. super boring..slept everyday all semester but watch out bc she calls you out. 3 tests, drops lowest score and a final. one research paper...fairly easy. her lectures suck and her tone of voice makes it worse. reading is mandatory to pass tests. not recommended to take class
Her class tends to drag on. The little things she says are on the test. Some of the end of review practice quizzes she shows in class are also on the tests. There is a mandatory paper. Lots of movie watching. If you read the book thoroughly, you should have no problem. Just read and study the text and show up to class to get the review quizzes.
Horrible, tests on things not discussed in class. Just reads off power points that she doesn't even make in class. Gets super angry if you're late or are eating or have your feet on the chairs. Is an all around horrible teacher.
Her tests are vague... not a good teacher.. The only way I received a C was because she curves her tests with the highest score... and the highest score is that high... Just goes to show that the superstar students can't even get an A without curving of tests...
Grading was easy, 4 tests, two assignments and a final. She is boring though. She puts you on the spot if you start dozing off but it's very hard not to. Don't try to ask questions, she will tell you everything except the answer. I'm not exaggerating. But as long as you take the practice quizzes online you don't even need the book.
