Really sweet, enthusiastic, and very helpful. You can tell she wants all of her students to do well. I would definitely recommend taking her class.
very nice teacher but her tests can be difficult and too much reading, and you may be surprised with your overall grade of the class because lots of people have gotton much lower than expected
Professor Akerman is really kind. She works with you in getting the work done and really doesn't ask for too much. I would recommend her as a professor, definitely.
Great teacher. A bit wet behind the ears though. It seems as though she is still in a Grad School frame of mind. You do all the work and study a bit, and you're golden.
akerman is definitely one of the most charming professor's i've yet to have. shes also attractive an a brainy, i-know-a-million-times-more-than-you kinda way. pretty much a perfect human being. hows that for semantics?
Akerman seems a bit too young for my taste, but her class is easy, but being too easy tends to be boring. She needs to spice up the class a bit, b/c all the reading gets a little dull.

he rocks
I was in one of her test classes when she was trying out. She was really boring and looks like she's 17.
clearly my favorite doctor at adelphi. im looking forward to having more classes with her. she's intelligent, fair, engaged and focusses on trying to make students understand the concepts in many ways. shes good****.

She's the best. Most helpful teacher ever. And very very sweet.
She was a reader for my honors college thesis and a pleasure to work with. Her insight into my writing was always profound and you could tell she took her time to analyze my thoughts on paper. Also, she's very helpful in telling me where I needed clarification and greater development of my thoughts to support my thesis. All in all, a sweet person, a great smile, and a great work ethic for a single student, and she gives the impression that she loves what she's doing and she gives her all for all.
The most annoying voice of all time...The class was kind of boring, but the assignments are easy. Take good notes cause she gets the questions for the midterm right from what she teaches in class.
she is a very nice woman and a good teacher but i do think she can do a little bit better
This class is real real easy, if you get the online notes. Search for the name of the book and you can get chapter summaries. She basically teaches straight from the notes. Try not to talk to much, she gets annoyed. Odd, but quirky she always wears a scarf so you never see her neck, and she refuses to open the shades from the windows... Vampir
Dont even think of taking this class with her. The hardest class that I have ever taken at Adelphi. The exams are the hardest possible even if you study a lot. It is supposed to be a freshmen level class but she made it feel like a Masters class because of the difficulty level and work load. TERRIBLE MISTAKE! PLEASE AVOID IT.
NO NO NO WAY PLEASE!!! She thinks hers is the only class for which students have to study.. Please dont torture urselves.......
the people who have said negative things are obviously idiots... she is a great prof and loves what she does. And if you dont slack off and pay attention, both the assignments and exams are easy.
She made class interesting, was very fair and understanding.
Easy class, she's very leinent about grading and turning things in late. Worth taking but be careful if you arent very good at taking tests because that is most of your grade.
Fair and precise. Can get dull and dry at some points as most of the material is common sense. Not into debating hot topics which is disappointing from this professor. Take the course, you'll enjoy it!
i hated the class but i cant say anything bad about akerman.shes really sweet and tries hard to get the class involved.she explains everything in detail, but the material can get soo boring, especially if comm isnt really your thing.the work isnt really hard/overwhelming but i just found it really boring at times, alot of common sense stuff
I took comm 315 and 205 amazing amazing professor! i cant say enough great things. class is easy if you pay attention. she loveeeeesss students that show up and show interest. is always there to help and truly cares about her students. 1 pages papers every other week, mid term and final that are both multiple choice and a group project. TAKE HER =)
Very nice professor who loves her work. I'm not a communication major but I loved the course and the professor. Only 2 exams and a group project. Intersting class for an elective.
She is rude and will talk down to you if she doesn't like you. I will NEVER take another class with her ever again!
Very sweet ! I'm taking a 2 and a half hour class with her but it passes lightning fast cause she fills it up with interesting discussions and she is extremely interesting to listen to. Recommended
Akerman is great. She tries so hard to get students interested in the material, and she is surprisingly successful at it. She keeps discussions interesting by making funny/bad jokes. Tests are pretty easy. All in all, one of the best professors I've had.
she is a cool teacher some of the lessons do get a little boring but i mean in most classes that happens once in awhile. her tests are easy straight from class which is straight from the textbook.
I agree with the statement made earlier about Akerman talking down to those she disagrees with. She is quite ignorant and refuses to see multiple sides to situations.
I felt like a 20yr-old girl was teaching the class (don't know if that's necessarily a good thing). It was fun and interesting. Hats off to managing to make a 2 and 1/2 hour class bearable. It's a decent amount of work but nothing too hard. She's very much into groups and projects and that was kind of annoying. Overall - great.
Great professor. If you show up, pay attention, and look like you're interested she will love you.
She has 5 papers, a midterm, 10 min. group presentation, 1 term paper and final. Sounds like a lot, but it's not because the papers are really short. use fun examples and you're golden. the tests are tougher, you definitely have to pay attention or at least study up and take notes. She's understanding but don't try to argue. Participate, though!!
Very enthusiastic about what she teaches and knows the material well. Class does feel very open for discussion. There is a good deal of work but it's easy. She's an easy grader as well.
She isn't a bad professor but she's not great. She likes the material and will get into lectures, and keep things engaging. She texts while giving lectures which irked me. She comes off sweet, but can also be pretty rude. She messed up sometimes and instead of trying to figure it out, would put students on the spot to show THEYRE wrong..
She's literally insane. The entire semester she will sit on her table, lecturing you straight from the textbook while she texts and laughs at her phone. When you whisper something in class, she gets fidgety thinking you are talking about her. Honestly, just avoid taking communication and behavior.
Professor Akerman is one of the greatest professors I have ever had, and is someone who cares about her students. She gives homework and expects it to be done, but the assignments are always fair and she is available for any questions students might have. Her class is extremely interesting, and she is always willing to take questions and discuss.
Class is very interesting and Akerman knows what she is talking about!
Literally my FAVORITE professor, I just search her name every semester now when registering for classes.
Professor Akerman is super sweet. she is very energetic and if you have a question she'll be ready to answer it with much detail.
doesn't know how to respond to emails or take students concerns seriously, very unprofessional is on her phone while lecturing and even brings her kids to class sometimes, she is a nice lady but a terrible professor
Prof. Ackerman is wonderful. I've taken all her classes and loved each one. Work is fair and not overwhelming. She's there to answer questions via email and makes class an open discussion. If you need her to repeat something she doesn't hesitate and will repeat as many times as you need. Overall great professor, I learned a lot from her classes
I definitely recommend taking Professor Akerman! She is hands down one of my favorite professors at Adelphi especially in the Communications Department. I took her for Comm and Behavior and S/T Early Childhood Education and Media. She really loves her students and do anything in order to watch them prosper inside and outside of the classroom!
Amazing class! I would recommend her to any student inside or outside of the Communication department! She inspired me on wanting to really dig deeper into early childhood media. She is a great person and a great professor! She really loves and cares about all of her students. 100% recommend Professor Akerman!
She is the sweetest! This class was great and her lectures were very interesting. Although she is sometimes unclear with her expectations, I overall enjoyed being in her class. You have to read the textbook/books though otherwise you will fall behind. I am definitely going to take her again!
Nice person horrible professor. She shows up late to class then leaves class for about 10 minutes doing who knows what. She sits on the desk and goes on her phone when students are talking. Truly wants you to learn the material, doesn't give good feedback because you cant even read her handwriting and no test review sheets
Prof. Akerman is wonderful! She's one of the kindest and most knowledgeable professors I've ever had. Her assignments are fair, and so is her grading if you put in the effort. She's very accessible and is willing to help you every step of the way. Take any class you can with Akerman and you'll be satisfied!
I suggest getting the course pack, but not the textbook. She puts the textbook on reserve for the semester so don't waste your money. Class was really interesting and I loved her honestly. Take good notes because thats all I used to study for midterm and final and I got As on both. 2 page reflections biweekly on the reading- super easy don't worry
Ms. Akerman is a bubbly, positive, and highly experienced professor. The class is lecture based where she encourages her students to participate in discussion. Her classes are very interesting, and you will get a lot out of them! She wants the best for her students and gives extra credit opportunities. I would definitely would recommend her!
Professor Akerman is beyond amazing. She really knows what she's teaching and then some, but she's down to earth and cares about what students have to say. Assignments are not difficult, she clearly explains her expectations, just make sure your work is clean and in APA. I would just keep taking classes with Akerman if I could.
Comm and Behavior material was interesting but prof was rude. Showed up to zoom classes 15 min late, chewing gum and on her phone. Bi weekly papers are pretty vague but simple enough. They are submitted through email which she never checks. If you want to talk to her make sure you do it during/after class time. No exam review, just reads from book.
Professor akerman is very sweet and you will do well in her class if you participate. There are not many assignments (and when there are theyre simple) but because of that your grade relies mostly on participation. If you show interest you will do very well. She absolutely will love you if you participate and thats the key to an easy A in her cla
Professor Akerman is great and I really enjoy having her as a professor. I not only enjoy her classes but learn a lot as well. She is very professional and has a lot of knowledge on what she teaches. This will be my fourth time having her as a professor and would encourage others to take her courses as well.
Professor Akerman has to be one of the best I've had at Adelphi. You could tell she knows the material very well. Her classes are very interactive rather than lecture-heavy. I find that I learn best in her class because it is a constant discussion. I have taken com 315, 329, and 502 with her, and it was always worth taking her class. She's amazing!
Professor Akerman expected her students to do their work and put in effort. Hard work was rewarded. Cared about her students and wanted to get to know them. Assessable for any academic assistance and willing to help.
One of the best professors ive had. She truly cares for her students. Her lectures were always so interesting because she allows space for open discussion, so if you participate you will do great! Shes very understanding as well if you talk to her.
Professor Akerman is a knowledgeable and professional in her field of study. Her lectures are quite interesting if you pay attention and most of the exam related materials are being discussed. Also, professor was very responsive and helpful outside the class time. Pay attention in class for an easy pass.
She does not answer emails and if she does she tells you to refer to the syllabus. Comes to class 15 minutes late. Difficult tests and bi-weekly papers that are time consuming. There are plenty of social science classes to take in order to fulfill your requirement. Don't take any of her classes, you will lose your sh*t 2 weeks into your semester!
Professor Akerman has gotten many negative reviews and I dont understand why, she is a thoughtful professor who offers extra credit when needed. If you show up to her class on zoom and participate you will do well in the class. If you dont engage and arent interested in the reading , you should drop the course.
Professor Akerman is excellent!!! She is very caring, understanding, and very lenient. All that she requires is class participation and that you show effort. As long as you keep up with the reading and show that you care about your work you will be fine. Be prepared to actively participate during class, she does expect you to discuss the readings.
Professor Akerman is a very passionate and knowledgable professor. Class time is spent discussing the reading that was assigned for that day which is always very interesting, informative, and short!. She is very lenient on assignments and overall a very happy and understanding professor. Just make sure you participate and chime in during class!
Professor Akerman is one of the best professors at Adelphi. One of my favorite things about her is how engaging she is. She is always creating conversations with the class that allows for open discussions and creates a safe environment. I love how this class is not lecture-based and allows students to open up to one another! Take her, if you can :)
I dont know why prof akerman has so many good reviews. even though this is an online class, she always logs on 15+ minutes late. shes on her phone while she goes over material & when students participate. overall the class is easy, she just puts no effort in at all. your grade depends on a group project and 6 mini papers throughout the semester.
Professor Anaa Akerman is one of the best Adelphi Professor. Even this class was online but the way she has taught the class has been inspirational for me. She helps the student in every possible way she could. Its been a pleasure studying your class. I wish I could attend your class in person too.
I took her Early Childhood & Media online class and I did not regret it. She's an amazing professor, very caring, and compassionate. I respect her greatly for her knowledge on the subject of media effects on children under 3. Her classes were interactive and engaging. Overall, she's a great person, as well.
The work is manageable and not overwhelming, a couple of papers, group project and midterm/final. Shes a fair grader and actually cares about her students and what shes teaching. Make sure to be an active participator in class, take notes, youll not only get into interesting discussions but it will prepare you for the exams. Take this class!
She's not hard, but she also didn't prepare us well for our midterm or final. She gave super loose instructions for our final paper, and the bi-weekly papers aren't difficult but get more annoying as you go through the semester. If you don't mind tedious work then it's fine otherwise don't take the class.
I really enjoyed this class and the discussions in lectures. She makes her lectures engaging and people can relate to the topics of discussion. She does care about her students and you can tell shes passionate about her work. I really suggest taking this class and professor as its an amazing experience.
Professor Akerman is a very kind and great professor. Even though this class was online, she made it very fun and engaging. There was a lot of group discussion based on the readings we completed prior to class. We had fun homework assignments also. We had bi-weekly papers that she gave great feedback on. I recommend taking this class!
Professor Akerman was an absolute joy to have as a teacher, she is caring and extremely involved with her students. I actually had something going on at home and she personally called me and let me know that she was here for me in terms of support and guidance. She is the kindest and loving Professor ive ever had the pleasure of having.
Great class! Professor Akerman is a very caring and understanding professor. You can tell she is very passionate about what she teaches. The work load is doable, her grading is fair and her lectures are very engaging. She loves her students and will help them in any way she can. I strongly recommend Professor Akerman!
Professor Akerman is very sweet and helps out her students a lot. You genuinely have to really study for her midterm and final because they are very detailed. If you have any questions about the class dont be afraid to ask because she helps you out with a lot. The sweetest Professor I know that just shows tough love sometimes
Prof Akerman is a very engaging professor and keeps students active and interested. Yet she was never fully present during class even being an online course. She was always distracted, on her phone, or starting late. We always went off-topic and never got straight to material. The course load was manageable.
I really enjoyed this course with Professor Akerman/ I've had her every year and enjoy everyone of her courses. The class is very engaging and allows you to learn a lot of new things. She is also very helpful on explaining assignments and what is needed for the class.
This course was an independent study I participated in with Professor Akerman. We conducted research on a topic chosen and wrote a research paper at the end. Professor Akerman was very helpful, she gave lots of feedback on my writing and has helped my writing greatly improve over the course. I was very proud of the work we did together.
Professor Akerman is a really great Professor and made this course fun and a good learning experience.
The class wasn't good but it wasn't too bad. She wasn't too clear about instructions a lot of the time and it made a lot of the assignments pretty confusing. She was very distracted most classes and was late every day. Wouldn't take again.
Prof. Akerman is one of the best professors I've had. She's very knowledgeable and passionate about every topics she teaches. She always takes time to explain everything and is super helpful. Your grade reflects the effort you put in and Akerman sets her students up for nothing but success. If you can take a class with her, I highly recommend it!
I took Professor Akerman for Com. and Behavior. I enjoyed her class so much I am taking another one of her courses! I greatly enjoyed her class and she gave good feedback on your work. She expects and encourages participation and is a fair grader. If you actively engage in her class and put the effort in, you will greatly enjoy her class.
I've taken two classes where Akerman was teaching and I enjoyed them both so much! She doesn't use powerpoints or have difficult lectures, she's fun and easy to talk to. Her classes do require reading but nothing too hard. Her grading style is fair, the advice she gives really comes from her wanting the best for you and to succeed in the class!
Professor Akerman was so clear and caring. I found the material fascinating. I was also so appreciative of her time spent with me. She was incredibly respectful of my personal identity and took the time to get to know me and respect my choices. I loved her class and I adore this professor.
I've taken two classes with her and will be taking more with her in the upcoming semesters. she is very understanding and is willing to help her students with any issues they have. her work load is fair and gives more than enough time to submit assignments and the notes she gives go hand in hand with her tests. One of my favorite professors.
She is very nice but gets distracted easily. Does not post your grades for you to see where you are in the class. Takes forever to answer emails. Does not review at all for the midterm or the final. Have bi-weekly papers that she never grades. Uses lockdown broswers. Do not take her classes, not worth it.
Professor Akerman respects her students and wants them to do well. I have taken multiple courses with her, and each time I learn something new and apply it to my everyday life. She is easy to contact as well as follows the syllabus. Students need to read the textbooks and expect to take the midterm and final exam responsibly.
Best professor I've had at Adelphi. Her lectures are unique, fun, and involve students. Her class was the only one I actually looked forward to going to. The tests are exactly from her notes so as long as you study you'll do good. She really cares about her students and wants everyone to do well. I 100% recommend taking her, you wont regret it
I really enjoyed her engagement and the class learning the simplicity and complexity of emotions, it opened my eyes a bit more to how unique life is & everyone can really be on different wavelengths and importantly why. It was a really interesting class that can apply to literally everyday life & she kept the class fun. Books easily found online.
Anna Ackerman is a genuinely caring professor who wants to see her students succeed. Bi-weekly short papers followed by longer papers and some group work is to be expected. PARTICIPATION MATTERS and she values the input of her students. Tests can be tough, but if you study well a good grade is almost guaranteed
she is late to class all the time
She is late to class a lot. She marks us absent if we don't wait for her to show up
This class could be so good but she's always late
ok but kind of unprofessional
Professor Akerman is truly a really sweet person. Her grading is very straight forward, you do your work and take notes to study for the midterm and final YOU WILL GET AN A. This is the only class that I have actually learned something useful to my life. She is very easy going and easy to talk to, if you need an extension she will grant it no prob.
Hands down the best class I have ever taken. You can tell that Prof.Akerman works so hard to teach her students; as everything she tells you to take note of is exactly what will be on the test. I have never been excited to attend class until taking this class, and I loved it so much that the first class I registered for next semester was her class.
Prof. Akerman is a really caring person and you can tell she wants the best for her students. She gets you engaged in the lectures and makes the material easy to understand. As long as you take notes of what she goes over in class (and she repeats and emphasizes important info) you'll get a good grade. I highly recommend taking a class with her.
i had decided to add to this class thinking it was going to be easy. boy was i wrong. my advice to you is try avoid taking her class. she is funny at times and other times she expects you to know the work. she will call on you at random times to make sure if you are paying attention in her class. she speaks fast never shows up on time.
Prof Akerman is one of the nicest profs! The class was work, but she was very nice to all of us, & our class was small so we had many fun discussions. As long as u participate in class & do ur work u should be fine. We had many papers due, but they were all short in length so doable. Would take her again :)
Professor Akerman truly cares about her students. Participation matters and as long as you get your work done you will be okay! Not only did I learn so much from this class, but I am thankful to have worked with Professor Akerman. In this class we had bi weekly papers as well as a research paper. All of this was very doable. Overall I recommend!
She is very clear in what she expects from students, and works with students if they need assistance. She explains the topic if you are confused, and is very accessible outside class.
Professor Akerman is a really sweet professor who really cares about her students and their well-being. She makes sure to always grade fair based on situations that may happen with students but she does expect work to be done. There are a lot of papers that are due but most of the papers are really easy to write. I had a lot of fun in this class!
Expected us to always be on our A game but was a total mess herself. Constantly losing student papers and taking points off for lateness bc of it. She was always showing up late and would leave class for considerable amounts of time in the middle. Does not explain assignments well and syllabus is confusing.
Professor. Akerman is genuinely one of the best professors you can take at this school. She's knowledgeable, funny, and extremely understanding. You can tell that she enjoys what she teaches and knows a lot about it. Her classes are well-paced and she makes sure you know everything you need to know before you leave. I Highly recommend her classes!
I was in Professor Akerman's Senior Thesis seminar. While writing a thesis paper is challenging, she gave us the tools and resources we needed to succeed. The thesis paper was broken up into smaller, more manageable assignments, so students wouldn't get overwhelmed. She was always willing to give feedback at every step of the writing process.
Akerman is truly the sweetest, most caring, and can't forget the most fashionable professor at Adelphi. Her classes are always fun, interesting, and interactive. Whenever you are struggling, she will always be there to help and accommodate. Gives great advice. You are going to love her and all the courses she offers, especially Media and Children.
AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING! So useful to know materials from her classes. Clear and concise expectations. Very understanding and flexible. Pushes you to strive. An honor to have as a teacher. Very student-based conversation. Not many tests/quizzes. EASY AND FUN :)
Professor Akerman is a great professor. She's understanding and genuinely cares for her students. You can tell that she truly loves what she does. She makes class fun and the material easy to learn. She loves her students and is always willing to talk to you if you need help with anything. Overall, an amazing professor and an even better person!
Prof. Akerman is very nice and sweet but she is all over the place. She is always late to class, takes over 10 minutes to take attendance, and asks for our names like 15 times a class. Gets distracted easily, and leaves big gaps during class. Returns papers damaged. Lots of text book reading and expensive books when she claimed they would be cheap.
Doesn't even meet the bare minimum. CONSTANTLY shows up late (I'm writing this in class as we speak- as of me writing this, she's 35 minutes late), and we're halfway through October and she hasn't even started on midterms yet. We've gotten none of our biweekly papers graded. I'd keep writing but there's a character limit. Just awful to work with.
Professor Akerman is amazing! She brings a good energy to the class and really cares about her students. The work is fair. She is willing to help in any way she can and wants her students to succeed. Discussion based classes. She makes learning fun and easy to understand. Will want to take the other courses that she teaches!
Prof Akerman is amazing! She cares for her students and although she might randomly call on people and expect you to understand textbookmaterial, its basically her caring about your education and what you get out of class. I enjoy that it is discussion based, she's great at wanting to know everyone's point of view and trust me you won't fall asleep
I don't know why she has any bad reviews and a lot of them referencing her calling on people, knowing material and the papers she assigns... like isn't that what college is about lolll. she's great and her class is fun and engaging, would definitely take again!!
Professor akerman is amazing she is one of the most caring down to earth professors at Adelphi. She is clear with what she expects out of you throughout her course, just do the assignments and you will finish her course with an A. She is very understanding and takes the time to explain papers/ assignments if you have questions.
This professor is very difficult to work with. She shows up late to class regularly, many times with no excuse. She gives repetitive lectures and singles out students whom she favors to answer her questions. She has problems working with students with learning disabilities and relies on other students to help them for her.
Akerman truly cares for her students, she is so sweet, all you have to do for homework is write 4 two page papers, literally SO simple. She will help you with everything and only wants the best for her students.
Akerman is consistently late, typically late every class + has been over a half hour late before. She gives biweekly papers, which is fine, except it is only for participation credit. She does not give review for exams. She assigned a GROUP paper, which I did not enjoy doing. Dresses unorganized + crazy.. she is a MESS. I have a 3.7 GPA psych.major
Probably the best class I have ever taken. Was always so excited to go, and the homework was simple and straightforward. All you have to do is listen in the class and review your notes to ace the test. She makes sure to repeat anything she knows will be on the tests in her lectures, so there is no excuse not to do well as long as you take notes
Have taken 2 of her classes throughout my time at Adelphi and received an A in both. I was never frantic to finish assignments or cramming over a test- I took notes and studied the notes I took. I was able to ace every test only studying my in-class notes, which shows that Akerman prepares you above and beyond.
Professor Akerman is such a sweet professor who really cares about her student's success and understanding of the topics she teaches. During her lectures, she tries her best to help students learn and remember the material. She will always try to help you! I have taken two classes with her and have enjoyed each one. Highly recommend!
I have taken 2 of her classes and am most likely going to take a 3rd next semester just because her classes make school interesting. I was always excited to go, and always knew that as long as I paid attention and took notes I would do well on any test/paper. If you are debating taking this class- take this as your sign, you won't regret it!!
Class goes by so fast because her lectures are so engaging. If you take notes you will be set for every single test. She tells you exactly what she expects from you- there are zero surprises. I never felt overwhelmed with the workload in this class, and it was the only class I absorbed enough info in to bring it up in convos outside of school
Not a horrible class but definitely would not take another class taught by her again. She is all over the place no structure of class and talks about things not related or in any way helpful. Looses and forgets assignments and projects. All in all she's nice but is hard to keep up with and understand what her point is.
Akerman is extremely understanding and takes the time to explain assignments if you have questions. The material easy to learn and actually fun. She makes sure you know everything you need. Highly recommend.
Professor Akerman is a very caring and helpful prof. She makes sure everyone understands before moving on. Very patient and understanding. Gives many accommodations as long as you communicate with her. She makes lectures interesting and doesn't give too much work. Highly recommend taking her.
This year as an incoming freshman I was a bit skeptical of all the new experiences and professors. However, as soon as I walked into children and media, I felt a sense of comfort and security that I got in high school. Professor Akerman is a wonderful and caring teacher who truly pushed myself this semester to my best abilities! So grateful!
Professor Akerman is very nice and caring, but she is all over the place. She gets easily distracted. She is consistently late, and was 40 minutes late to class one day. She assignes bi-weekly papers related to the textbook and it only counts for participation credit. She also tends to lose papers, and gives them back dirty and damaged.
Sweetest professor who really cares. Always available to help students with the material or anything at all. Prepares you for exams. Was always so excited to go. Great class and teacher!! Take her!
if this Professor put as much time and effort into teaching our class as she does writing fake reviews about how "caring and always there for students" (LOL!) she is, she might actually get some real positive reviews on here
Professor akerman is amazing she is caring and easily accessible outside of class. She wants you to succeed and do well, and will provide you with the material and notes to do well. Her exams are straight from the information given in class. Take her!
Professor Akerman is great! Really cares about her students and is accessible outside of class. Willing to help however she can. The amount of work is expected from a college course but is totally doable! If you are prepared you will succeed in the course!
Professor Akerman was a great professor to learn from. She holds herself and and her students to a high level of accountability. It is very refreshing. Would take her classes many times over: learned a lot from her. One of my best college experiences.
She's really straight to the point about assignments, etc. Being in her class honestly took me out of my shell especially when it came to class discussions, she'll pick on people and if you're doing the work, know the material then it's an easy class that flies by. Prof Akerman made it easy to contact her outside of class which I enjoyed.
Participation is a big one here, papers are involved, her lectures are engaging, highly recommend
The professor was a bit unorganized, but she was very passionate about what she was teaching. She made her key points clear and overall made the class enjoyable.
Professor Akerman was a pleasure to have in my first semester of college. She is very caring and really wants you to do well in her class. Her tests are not hard and curved. As long as you study for them you will be fine. One down downside about her is that she does talk quickly, so takes notes faster.
Professor Akerman is an engaging and caring instructor. Her lectures are informative, and she genuinely wants students to succeed. I found Unstuck study and the textbook very helpful for exam prep alongside the course materials. Highly recommend this class!
She was all over the place, difficult communicator, always late, had favorites, and difficult exams.
Akerman is genuinely one of my favorite professors. I have taken 3 of her classes, and have gotten easy A's in all of them. She tells you what is on the tests, and you just have to study what she says, and you will be fine! She is flexible with papers and test dates, like for a test she moved the date since we all had tests on the original date.
