Worst teacher ever. Arrogant, irrelevant lectures.
Pretty straight forward. Funny stories. Puts a little too much emphasis on in class work, but what can you do? I also like how she doesnt mark you off for the same mistake over and over again.
Awesome lectues but very unclear in what she wants in terms of assignements
"Now class, let's review.. What does the yellow sign with the silhouette of a bird mean?.. Right: LOON CROSSING AHEAD!" (tip? you SO need to detour. quick!)
Anna is disorganized in a way that goes beyond an endearing "scatterbrained professor". If the overhead projector was broken last week, chances are it will still be this week. She's a capable teacher but I'm not paying 300$ for her to forget her
She is light-hearted, willing to help ANYTIME! Even when it isn't office hours. FAIRLY graded work. Yes somewhat scatterbrained and forgettful. Tries to make classes enjoyable, lots of time for assignments, isn't mean spirited but caring!
She is a really good teacher, and marks fairly. The lectures are mainly on the reading, and are interesting, but not always relevant to the course (College Composition). I didn't learn how to write a better essay, but that's the course, not the teacher.
pointless advice, lectures ranting about human rights, She is an extreme radical feminist, beware. Her marking is disgusting-totally low grades no matter what. She wasted my time. She is an ok person but a crappy teacher.
Approachable, personable, organized. For my effort on essays, my mark was fair, no easy marks here. Would appreciate her stepping off the radical feminist bandwagon... what does it matter what women wear.
Anna is a wise and helpful professor in Mala. She is a hard marker, but if you are willing to learn, she notices all your hard working. Personly, I was happy to choose her class.
She's pretty good
Bible as Lit: Hard course. Should be upper level. Anna is well educated. Sometimes you feel you can't reach her level, but keep in contact and send her your work before it's due to get better grades. Cares about her students and spoils them with food. Makes classes fun. Be prepared to work hard.

Very good as a teacher but incredibly hard as a maker, but she makes herself available to help if needed.
shes a medieval warrior! just ask her... very sarcastic, opionated, makes class fun..
she is a very hard marker. always low marks for students. she is funny, wise and well educated. but students cares about the marks and knowledge, not funny or not.
GREAT teacher. She makes class fun and if you know any grammar at all and have actual opinions, you'll have a higher mark than if you just sit there.
Don't understand her? Stop staring out the window and pay attention! I didn't have a whiff about this class before i took it, but Anna makes it easy to learn! Marks fairly and explains the mark if asked... If you get a bad mark twice, thats your fault not hers!
Anna Atkinson is an excellent teacher, with many interesting anedcotes about life and the materials covered in the class. She is a very fun, entertaining teacher.
WATCH OUT! Failed me for personal reasons! Also she indirectly said that I would fail at life in an email! A very negitive, psychotically analytical, unfair, and self absorbed excuse for a professor.
Awesome prof. She's funny and interesting and she picks all the best stuff to talk about. I loved her, and I'm switiching into her classes next semester because I will miss her lectures so much.
The BEST teacher I have ever had for english. Lisa Kudrow is a good comparison for her character. All you have to know is your basic grammer rules, and she will entertain you for the rest of the semester.
she has intresting lectures but she is a perfectionist and expects perfection in all assignments to get even a low mark. VERY HARD MARKER! I would not take another class by Anna!
Anna is horrible, she nit picks to find everything negative. I think first impression is everything with her. Never will take a course taught by her again.

VERY HARD MARKER! and writes somtimes mean comments at the end of assignments. I did not learn anything important from her and she turned me off English all together. SHE IS HORRIBLE! and does not tell you what you're supposto do for assignments until they are handed back! DO NOT TAKE A CLASS FROM HER!
Worst Prof I have ever had. She is anal retentive about Grammer. You could spend days, even weeks working on a paper you think is perfect and she would circle at least 60 things on 1 page that is wrong. I Would highly reccomend not taking this prof!.

Horrible Professor!she's arrogant, terrible at lecturing, and she has tunnel vision. I didn't learn a thing from her, other than the fact that she is an obsessive compulsive grammar nazi.
FFFFFFFFFFFFFF maybe if all the other teachers taught like her, her classes would be easier. How can I go from a solid B+ student to a weak C-? I think her expectations in terms of marking are really harsh. She isn't communitcating her standards, she just expects. And yes, grammar nazi, this is so true.
Hardest marker I have ever had. Anna has a general sense of arrogance. She has never made time students to get any help...I've heard many complaints from students about getting help from her. I went from getting A's and B's to C's. She should be teaching upper level classes. If you are thinking about taking this teacher think again!!!

A very engaging professor. She believes strongly in providing context and pulling together different examples to reinforce concepts. I'd recommend her for either a survey course or an area-intensive course. Her Bible-related classes are incredibly useful for general English Literature comprehension.
Anna is one of the most amazing professors I've ever had, perfect for English majors. The recipe for her class is relatively simple: show up, do the readings, finish your assignments on time. Business English students could learn a lot from her - newsflash, grammar is important in all styles of writing, including business.

I'm sorry but she was not a good teacher at all. So full of herself! Why in the world anyone would rate her higky is beyond me. SO BAD!!!
She was a really good teacher I thought. She was a bit of a grammar nazi, which I think was wrong. I have heard some stories of her and personal problems with students.
HORRIBLE THATS ALL I GOT... BAD PROF. TRY NOT TO BE IN HER CLASS
Didn't find her to be a hard marker at all. Wasn't fond of her humour but others were.Knows what shes talking about and clarifies well. Would take another class with her if I had to.
Very rude. Not nice. Her teaching skills are good, content is intresting, but you're kind of doomed if she decides she doesnt like you.
she is not a helpful professor. She is a sooooo bad professor.
she is insane.
I have always HATED English, but she made it truly enjoyable. She expects her students to use their brains, and marks according to effort as well as intelligence. Also, I recommend learning to write in intelligent sentences if you are going to pass judgement on an english professor...
She`s hot. She`s smart and has physical beauty as well. Her lectures are deep and her voice is sweet. Some think she`s mean, but they don`t know her. She`s complex, and it takes a smart person to appreciate her style.
If you're not very good at grammer, you're not going to do very well. She is a very nice lady, has crystal clear instructions, and expects well written essays. Oh, and if you find arguing about ecology...or are a vegatarian.. Take this class that's what all her readings are on.
There is a lot of reading for her class, but she marks fairly. It's easy to get a good mark if you agree with all her opinions. She can be unclear when you go to her for help, but she's happy to try to help you.
She grades students based on quality of assignments and class participation. But to do well in assignments, you have to understand the articles in the course pack. Some are quite long/dense so plan your time to read! Her explanations in class helped a lot. If you keep working hard till finals, you might get an A-. Not bad for an ESL student.
Anna is a very dedicated prof. She knows her stuff and makes the material very enjoyable to learn. She integrates history in her English lesson and does an awesome job. I loved every class. One recommendation always clarify what she is looking for in an assignment. She is so easy to talk to and will go out of her way to help you. Even the nigh
soooooo terrible for esl students. If you don't agree with her point which means you are over. And for the grammer, its insane!!!!!!!
She gives great directions for assignments, helpful reviews of the readings, and she is very organized. She is often smiling and has a great personality. I loved her class.
She marks very hard , whatever you write for her , you won't get A+ . you will read a LOT in her CLASS. NOT EASY FOR ESL student
Anna is awesome, she has become one of my favourite professors. She is fun and passionate about the subjects she teaches. There is a lot of reading in her class, if you aren't prepared to do the reading then you aren't prepared to do well in her class. She is willing to help you every step of way. :) I wold recommend her to anyone, any day.
Avoid taking her course if possible unless you're willing to put up with terrible personality and sense of humor. I didn't learn anything from this course and that's simply because everything she talked about was irrelevant to the subject. If you don't agree with her, then she will just fail you or alternatively, send you to counselling.
Anna is great! She is very interesting and helpful, although she is a much harder marker than most lower level English professors. For those complaining that she is a "grammar nazi", you are in an English University level course, of course she is going to correct your grammar!
I am usually an A+ student, but when the professor is so biased in her opinions that she marks you down for voicing your own in an OPINION ESSAY or critique, there is not much a student can do to achieve high marks. Explanations were very unclear prior to projects, and Atkinson shows her rude side when people don't understand. Quite derogatory.
I wouldn't want to be on her bad side, however, I think that would be a hard place to get to without trying. Attend every class, hand your assignments in with effort shown and she'll reward you. She gives lots of opportunities for improvement. You literally get out what you put in. She was very kind towards all of us.
Not easy to pass with a high mark. As well as unclear assignments and sarcastic comments.
This teacher is sarcastic and unbelievably biased. She is also ridiculously rigid, and expects students to bend over backward to accommodate her. If i email her an assignment, she assumes that, instead of her hitting the "print" button, i have to find somewhere to print it and somehow find her outside of class time to give it to her.
I found this class really relevant to all disciplines. Spending Friday mornings with Anna was like having tea with an old friend. The readings were well selected and the topic matter was relevant to being a human in the world as well as close to her heart (something I think more teachers should consider).
I loved Anna's classes. She is clever and making deep connections that are relevant to our current and past stories. She's a tough marker but fair and makes good suggestions. I would take her classes again if i ever had the opportunity.
Very Hard. Her expectations are too high for a first year english course.
Anna, even though she has good intentions is a TERRIBLE PROFESSOR. She is very biased towards her own opinion and believes she always right. In addition, she puts herself above everyone elese and looks down on you as a student. If you don't agree with her opinion, good luck getting a good grade.i Would not recommend her to anyone!
For an English 115 teacher, Anna is unacceptable. Her grading criteria does not match up at all with what she actually wants and expects out of you. Also, the way Anna teaches puts you at a very low pedestal and thinks she is right all the time. If anything, I feel like her course has made me worse at English as she leaves me confused.
Very tough marker, be expected to put a lot of effort into her class. She's nice but don't get on her bad side. Alot of writing and researching
She's a remarkable instructor! Really, one of a kind. And she has her very own page in the DSM-5
I really enjoyed my class with her. She's a pretty fair grader, but don't expect an easy A. She put our research paper in manageable milestones, which I'm so grateful for because I have trouble with those. My only issue is that she is VERY biased. For my research paper I had to argue for a cause I'm against, which was upsetting.
Shes okay.. super high expectations for a first year.. I tried soo hard but still did not get a good grade. She gives feedback and will help when needed but does not go out of her way for the sucess of students.
Anna was a great professor! She was very clearly interested in her work and provided interesting work for the class. The only downside is she can be a bit difficult with grading and can be a little biased, but otherwise a great professor!
Anna is passionate about what she teaches and it makes attending her lectures a joy. She's approachable, cares about her students and grades fairly. I highly recommend taking a class with her (if you're an English major, especially).
Anna is very skilled at what she does, but don't expect an easy A. An A with her is absolutely achievable, but be prepared to work for it - office hours appointments, peer review, and writing centre appointments are necessary for A's with her. I did enjoy her class, and would take more with her again if I had the chance.
Anna is an amazing professor. She talks about currently topical issues in her lectures and seeks to broaden her students perspectives on what is happening in the world today. Instructions are clear. She is very accessible and willing to help with any questions.
Anna uses group learning throughout the term which I thought I would hate but it brings you closer with teammates and presents you with different perspectives you wouldn't have thought of. She grades on a number of tests and papers so the marks are distributed evenly. She is accommodating with hours when you need to go over papers or quizzes.
anna although a wonderful person, a very strict teacher. her explanations are poor and i often left class confused. she has no filter while grading papers, if theres something wrong shell make sure youll know- and feel terrible about yourself for it. I would try to take an english course with another prof if you dont want to hate yourself.
I think she is trying to many things for a first year course, she also gets side tracked with subjects. I leave the class either wondering what was the point of the lesson or why I even showed up. Most of the basics in the course are good, if we ever get to them. If not we are stuck looking everything up. So at least 50-60% is online it feels like.
Anna is an amazing teacher. Her lectures are engaging and funny. She puts a lot of work into the preparation of her classes. I really enjoyed and learned a lot from her English 115 (academic writing). Although it took a lot of hard work. The pay off was worth it, I would recommend her classes.
Her classes entirely rely on group discussion which can be really annoying. Her assignment descriptions are unclear, containing a lot of useless preamble. Her lectures could be helpful, but a lot of it is hyper specialized interpretations rather than useful tips. She also goes on a lot of tangents.
The first class I had with Anna went well. The second class is horrible! It's online so it's already hard to understand but she makes it even more confusing by not going into detail on assignments and saying what to actually so instead she just goes off about a scholar she read. She's okay if it's a "fun" class but otherwise expect to be confused.
There are so many nice things I can say about Anna. She is professional yet knows how to joke around with students in order to make for interesting and informative conversations. Very clear in her assignment criteria and gives clear feedback in order to help you improve for your next assignment.
Horribly laid out and strangely paced curriculum. Anna seems to have no concept of irony, as her assignments are delivered in wordy, confusing, and vague write ups- all traits she says to avoid. Communication is given through so many different channels its hard to keep up. I sometime wonder is she just wants to see herself write.
The online curriculum is very confusing, every assignment has been uploaded at once. On top of this, she seems to think group projects are necessary during online school. What she expects from her students is not equal to the effort she puts into teaching the course. It's like she enjoys wasting people's time and seeing her own work.
Professor Atkinson expects way too much from students in an English 115 course. The feedback she gives is altogether useless and will make you feel like a bad person/student. Her emphasis on clear writing is ironic because of the confusing, wordy, and vague instructions she gives for assignments.
Anna is just the worst when it comes to marking. She expects so much and for things to be done a specific way. She is SO subjective when it comes to her literary analysis. She seems like a nice person on the outside, but for marking, she is just MEAN. If you put hard work into something expect to receive a C-. For a prof she's brutal!
Was given bad marks specifically for disagreeing with her point of views, was accused of plagiarism because she clearly didn't read the reference links and forced to withdraw after pointing out her mistakes in marking. Had proof of all of this& brought it up to dean LOL Anna made a fool of herself in the end don't know how this bish isn't firedxD
if you don't agree with her views on literally everything you are going to fail. sorry
Amazing teacher... I love the way she screams at me over email... Her passive aggressive behaviour is top notch... 10/10
Don't take her class. The feedback we receive is unhelpful, passive-aggressive, overly critical, and entirely based on her own opinion. If you don't agree with her, good luck. She even takes the time to CAPS LOCK feedback on some mistakes as if she yelling at me over the internet.
Never take her class. She is hilarious, always do with her own views never ever listen to students opinions and always say that you withdraw the class Every student need motivation, support, help and inspiration from their teachers but this teacher always demotivates you. So never take her class. Please!!!
Anna is quite harsh with her feedback, she can be motivating but still quite harsh overall. She doesn't mark too hard, but is quite specific about what she wants to see in your assignments, and will doc you marks if those aren't done. Her class was a hybrid model where nothing was for marks, but there was SO MUCH work. Quite a frustrating class.
Professor Atkinson is one of the sweetest professors I have ever had. She is so kind and accommodating. If you have the pleasure of attending her classes, be sure to show her the respect she deserves and she will no doubt help you with whatever you require.
Anna runs one of the worst online classes known to man, theres about 4-5 hours of work each week outside of having to watch long lectures. Most of the work that you put in is not even graded. Making it extremely frustrating and annoying. The work she assigns is as boring as it gets, not a single piece of reading could spark inspiration for writing.
Not as bad as others have said, at all. Very accommodating. Only issues I have are being forced to work in a group, as well as the "I'm not marking any of your work, you have to argue for your own grade in your final exam" thing The content she assigns is a lot of socioeconomics and politics, I like it
One of the best professors around. Totally involved and wants you to succeed. Her lectures are interesting and come with transcripts She is honest and willing to address tough topics
Just dont . She expects alot from a first year Engl course . Reviews are just too critical and no grades are assigned so you have no clue about your progress. I would never even in my dreams would like to join her class. I had to leave the course because I had gotten mad and was crying more often and it started affecting my other courses . JUST NO
If you are starting your university journey, don't start here. Simply find another professor and enjoy the first year of university. She does not give you marks throughout the course, therefore you never know where you stand in the class at any given time. In addition to this, she makes sure to make all her work extremely wordy. Take another prof.
Choose another prof. Mundane and predictable lectures, predictable personality and opinions, doesn't even grade things, and bases her entire course on this concept of not grading things, then suddenly your final grade is referenced by a department grading scheme, which makes no sense. Just grade things from the start, simple.
Anna was very encouraging/respectful! She had a lot of insightful thoughts, but I sometimes felt like there wasn't much room for personal interpretation (meaning of symbols, etc.) Her lectures came with transcripts, and I had fun with the group-work. I enjoyed the class, but the self-assessment grading system wasn't my favourite thing in the world
Anna is hard to please. Heavy workload, weekly deadlines, and feedback marked as complete or incomplete leaving you unsure of your standing. Her high expectations create challenges, especially for first-year students. Missing deadlines, even with the willingness to catch up, is met with limited understanding.
This course was very heavy in material/lecture and left me little time to balance my other courses and personal life. There was no grading until the end where you will need to argue a grade for yourself, which makes it difficult as her requirements for assignments can be confusing, or asks a lot for little 'marks' in return.
Class is time consuming so prepare to burn the midnight candle .shes keen on plagiarism .it was stressful but I learnt a lot and I was lucky to have passed considering the pressure, downside is I barely had time for my other courses that semester ,could have done better in them but was too focused on meeting this courses numerous deadlines
Anna is understanding and if you need extra support, she's reasonable and will do her best to help. However, I would not recommend this particular class because she relies heavily on her own opinion in place of textbooks. Most in-person classes turned into discussions on politics. Her moto for the class was “If in doubt, take the Diety out.”
Anna's class has a unique grading system, but with the help of unstuck AI and a diligent approach, you can succeed. The workload is heavy, but engaging with the material and attending classes pays off. Overall, it's a challenging yet rewarding experience.
By far one of the most negative classroom experiences I've ever had. Never before have I come across such a venomous professor. She radiates positivity in the classroom; but as soon as you are one on one with her, her true colours start to show. Her words are condescending and hurtful. The character count is not enough to describe the extent of it.
Do yourself a favor and get a new prof she gives out so much work, she doesn't grade ANYTHING, there are mandatory self assessments for every assignment that she will give more feedback on that than the actual paper and the final is an absolute joke you don't need the course to do the final. overall just a massive headache switch out.
