She really knows what she is talking about and you can tell that she is excited to teach. Her classes are fun and you learn at the same time!

She is a good instructor, very clear, and pretty easy if you study a little. She makes class interesting by relating the subject to our current events and things that college students may be concerned with.

dr. haas is great. she's funny and VERY helpful. she will revise drafts of your papers to make sure you get a good grade. so helpful. she's a fireball and her tests come right out of the lectures and minimal reading.

Read and show up to her lectures and you will get an A/B at least. She issues two writing assignments and gives several of opportunities for extra credit. Really entertaining and makes funny voices when she impersonates different sides on a matter. She loves what she does and it shows.

Very good professor and very helpful. Her exams are easy if you go to class and read a little. Some questions on the study guide are the exact same ones on the exam. The topics are boring (because it POSC) but she tries to make it fun.

Before this class I hated anything to do with politics but she made it easy and interesting. I highly recommend this professor.. take it! You don't really have to do the readings just take good notes and you can still get in an A in the exam.

I have to say that she is one of the best professors that I have ever had. Her lectures are so interesting because of the way she explains things. If you do the reading, pay attention to EVERY relevant topic, and have a decent attendance rate, you will get a good grade. I definitely recommend this professor anytime.

alright if your conservative or not openminded then this teacher is not for you. She is funny and liberal. She doesnt take role, you dont really need the book and all we had were 3 exams and 2 papers-no quizzes or homework!

She is such a wonderful and charismatic prof, she cracks alot of jokes about how some politicians are sexy such as Clinton and Al Gore ;p The class consist of 2 papers, about 3 exams and you really don't need to read to pass the class, however skim the text a bit before the exam. Most of the exam is on the lecture anyways, so take GOOD NOTES!

She's really funny. Makes lots of hand gestures. Lectures a lot. Kind of a hard class. Grades super tough on the papers. Got a B. Went to class almost everyday. Kinda sucked except for the fact that she was kind of funny.

Her exams consists of 20 multiple choice, 2-part short response questions and 1 long essay. Wouldn't be that hard if you go to her lectures or read the book. Her lectures are pretty interesting, mesays.

This teacher is really great!!!! DO NOT BUY ANY BOOK!!! I REPEAT!!! NO NEED TO WASTE MONEY ON BOOK because she gave you the study guide and almost half of the test has the exact same question on the study guide. 4 test and thats your grade(offer 2 or 3extra credit). Test is 60% multiple choice and 40% is an essay topic on the study guide.

haas is awesome... i've never actually wanted to go to class before! tests are completely off of her lectures and she gives you a study guide on top of that. 40 multiple choice and 60 goes to essay or vis versa - none the less there is no way not to get an A she is so fun and easy to take!

Very entertaining lecturer. I went to speak to her because I thought I should have received more points on my essay and she gave me 6 extra points for it! Tests pretty easy and she's very direct on what's going to be on it. The study guides help too. Great teacher. Highly recommended!

This was a pretty tough class. She's a great lecturer, but her exams were pretty broad. You have to read and take close notes, but overall it's an okay class. You have to work really hard for your grade though, class averages one exams were around 80%. Four exams and timed writes on each. If you want a challenge, take her.

I believe you really need to be interested in Latin America and must be highly knowledgeable on its history. She has her comical moments, but her lectures could use some improvements. She is very helpful though by posting lectures notes and articles on beach board. 1 in class essay, 2 book essays, and 2 short take home essays for the final.

Anna Haas's class was very easy if you attend class. She keeps the class engaged. Make sure you write down examples that she uses in classes to use on the essay portions. She does offer extra credit at the end of the semester which can help boost your grade also. Overall, she was a very helpful professor.

History has never been my favorite subject, nor my best, but Professor Haas is a really good professor. She's upbeat and out going and really keeps your attention. The material still isn't that interesting, but she's a good professor. Only 4 exams, no homework, so the textbook is key. I didn't buy it for the first exam and regretted it later.

Her tests are not fun if you don't study. but if you read the textbook, go to class, and reread the notes you'll be fine. her lectures are kind of all over the place and don't seem that important; however, i studied only her notes and i managed to pass the class with a B. she's really funny and makes class fun! take her!

Study guides sent out before the exams were extremely helpful considering most of the questions from the guide would show up on the test. Essay questions are given beforehand to study so there aren't any surprises on the test. Didn't go to class at all besides exam dates and can get an A or B still.

Easy class as long as you take good notes on her lectures and go over the book. Very enthusiastic about teaching! I have no interest in political science at all, but I enjoyed her class. Tests arent hard, usually 30 mc &an essay with some questions taken from practice tests she posts on bb. The essay prompt is chosen from there as well

Her lectures coincide with the test, so take good notes (she makes it easy to remember things, trust me). The book is also important to use for the test, so don't just rely on the notes! In addition, Dr. Haas is very liberal but she always cracks jokes about herself. Overall, work hard and you'll do fine!

best teacher at long beach! shes super funny! i was dreading taking posc but she actually made it fun and understandable! no homework assignments just reading that must be done for the tests. tests are multiple choice with an essay but she gives a study guide really similar to the actual test! GREAT teacher, i would definitely take her class again!

I was dreading this class, but she made it a lot more interesting than I intended. She's hilarious and full of energy, I would 10000% take her again and recommend anybody to take her. No homework, just 4 tests. If you just show up to class and read the book, you're guaranteed at least a B.

Dr. Haas is the BEST! She loves stats and wants you to, too. She tells funny stories which tie in well with the subject & make concepts memorable. If you pay attention in class you'll do well. (Also, she doesn't require $$$ books like some other classes. Most of the readings are on beachboard.)

She is really funny and nice. The class is just based on 4 exams. Class is out of 100 points leaving no room for mistakes but just read the chapters, go to every class for notes and lecture, and do the study guide because they really help out alot. She's a really good professor and knows how to explain the material well.

The BEST professor I've had in all 3 years here. She loves stats and uses documentaries, jokes, and interesting readings to help you understand stats. The highest level of math I took was Algebra 2 in high school so I was worried stats would be hard but she is passionate about teaching. Take her. You will not regret it! :D

She's lively and interesting! I didn't bother buying the book and used the one on reserve at the library to do extra studying before exams (4 exams make up your entire grade, no other assignments) But her lectures were comprehensive and she's really good at explaining. I wouldn't recommend missing class, but you could pass just using the book.

Her class was very straightforward. Four tests with 30 MCQ and an essay. The fourth essay was extra credit. If you go to class and listen to her lectures, you'll definitely pass this class. I didn't really read the book because her lectures were so interesting. I loved the way she gave us the information and she was very enthusiastic! Take her!

I HIGHLY recommend taking her. I was so scared to take Poli Sci after hearing about some teachers, but she really made this class interesting Great lecturer. She asks you to think critically during the written portion of the test. She gives you a study guide (which sometimes mirror the test) and even potential essay prompts. 4 tests, many EC opps.

She offers extra Credit. I got a B+ but it's because I didn't put much effort as i usually do for classes. She's really thorough. I definitely recommend taking notes on your laptop. It's soo much easier because she writes the outline on the board and then kind of draws arrows. She gives practice exams.. Love her!

No assignments, just 4 exams throughout the semester. If she does have an assignment, it's extra credit. The exams are easy and she gives a study guide. You should read the assigned chapters because some questions on the exam are from the readings. She is very enthusiastic and makes politics interesting!

She's charismatic, funny, and passionate! She really made a dry subject quite exciting. Her lectures can be long, but they are interesting (often shows video clips)- take notes! To get an A, you have to study for the exams. Do the study guides, put in the time & effort, & you can definitely get a good grade!

Oh Liesl, probably one of the best POSC teachers. I took AP Gov in high school last year so this course was relatively easy for me. She does an EXCELLENT job in teaching the material. Hands out study guides and most OR all of the questions on there are on the tests, but of course there are other ones as well. Also, no homework! TAKE HER CLASS.

Straightforward lectures, gives opportunities for extra credit, and no homework (other than reading). Exams aren't bad; you have 75 minutes to answer 30 M/C questions and write a one page (front and back) essay; they're based almost entirely off of her lectures. She'll ask a couple of questions related to the book and videos, though.

I love professor Haas! Her lectures are very engaging and she's hilarious! She made PoliSci SUPER interesting to me. Her class is mainly lectures, and we have a couple exams and that's it. There's no other work and attendance isn't mandatory. However, I still attended all the lectures because she was just that engaging. I would take her class again

I love this professor! Her lectures are clear and her passion for politics really makes the class interesting; I only fell asleep in that class once or twice. You do have readings which are annoying to catch up on if you fall behind but it's not too bad. Not mandatory but will def help you get an A! I highly recommend taking her class.

This is my third year at CSULB, and she is in my top five favorite professors. She's super nice, attendance not required (but you really should go), and four exams in total. If you go to her lectures, you'll hardly need to read the book. She's very thorough and is obviously very passionate about her career. She made me consider switching my major!

Haas is by far the most amazing teacher I've ever had at CSULB. She's hilarious and the clearest teacher I've ever had. I learned so well in her class. As long as you go, do some of the readings, talk to her when you need help, and PARTICIPATE in class I can guarantee you an A. She's very kind and approachable, if you need help just ask!

One of my all time favorite professors! She is very, very reasonable, which is why I respected her so much. She is also pretty funny and makes you understand the true concept of American Politics! You learn, laugh and would have a great time if you choose her. Wish I could take her again!

At first its hard to keep up but once you understand her lectures the class will be easier than you think the exams are similar to the study guide and the essay samples are very helpful they are most likely to be the same prompt on the test.

I knew very little about political science and passed with an A. Her study guides are very similar to the tests. She made this class very interesting, she showed us a lot of clips from the Daily Report. She is a great professor!! Can honestly say I learned a lot from this class. Textbook is not needed.

Haas was an amazing lecturer, lectures were very interesting, and she really grabbed you into the course. Make sure to attend class, everything she taught was on the exam, LITERALLY. The only thing is this class consists of just 4 exams and extra credit was offered every now and then.

TAKE HER CLASSES. Take her for poli sci GE, you wont regret it. Not many assignments. About 4 exams, which she gives the best study guides for. Make a google doc of the study guide and share it with the whole class and you will for sure pass the exams and class. She lectures and writes notes on a tiny white board so do not sit in the back.

Prof Haas is a great lecturer. Attendance is not mandatory but come to class. she gives hints about questions on the exam during lecture and her multiple choice questions on the exam is basically lecture notes. There are only 4 easy tests. highly recommend this class.

She just lectures & shows you videos in class. Your grade is based on tests. She has 3 exams & 1 final. In the class, she only had 2 e.c. assignments, for a total of 3 points to your grade. The class has a 100 points. If you use the study guide, you'll do fine on the first 3 exams. Not the final, study on your own. She rounds a 89.5 to an A.

Dr. Haas is an amazing professor. I took her during the winter for a unit political science course (199/399) and she really made those four days interesting! Attendance in this case was mandatory, but that's reasonable since it was just a 4 day course. She's really passionate about her lectures and really makes class interesting. VERY FUNNY

Doing reading before class will really help during lecture and for the tests. Her lectures are amazing, she is so knowledgable. Grades a bit hard on the essay portion of the tests so make sure you are specific with lots of details. Plays lots of videos thru the semester that are fun. Replies quickly to emails, wants to help you succeed.

Great professor! She knows her stuff, and explains political processes thoroughly and it all flows well. The class is an easy A. 3 exams, 1 final. There are 4 extra credit opportunities at about one page responses and worth 5-8 points each! Attendance is not mandatory, neither is textbook (even though it says it is).

Everytime I showed up to class I was so intrigued. She really is passionate about the subject and if theres ever any questions that need to be answered she answers them! Going to class is a necessity because you can always get notes from friends, but the way Professor Haas explains topics is so much more understandable! Favorite class, hands down.

I took her asynchronous online POSC 100 class. Her assignments were three exams and three essays with two extra-credit opportunities! Communicates efficiently through email. Gives review sessions, study guides, and insight into current events. Good GE class, but be careful with missing deadlines since there are only really 6 assignments.

I loved Prof. Haas! She was so witty and funny and she always made lessons fun. I learned so much during her class. The grade was based on tests, a multiple choice portion and written portion. You will write a lot to get a good grade. I miss her class!
