Just a heads-up, her teaching styles and instructions might be confusing sometimes which is understandable since she's a new professor, but she is an amazing professor who truly cares about her students! If you have questions, please ask her after lectures or via Canvas since she responds quickly! I highly suggest to give her a chance!
She is a tough grader and her teaching can be confusing sometimes but she really cares about her students. She is also a fast responder with emails. I would take her again.
She's terrible at teaching and very unorganized. She is also a very tough grader and never says exactly what she's looking for until AFTER she grades the assignments. We had to constantly send emails or remind her in class about things she should have known. The lectures were unhelpful. I wouldn't recommend her unless it's your last option.
Throughout the semester I was confused often on what she wanted. The course was disorganized. As mentioned in another review, she would never specify what she wanted on exams/assignments. However, she does care about the students & gave us chances to improve our grade but the -'s outweighs the +'s :( she has potential to be a good teacher though.
This class needs lots of work from you. She will give you an unclear feedback that you will have to ask her again about her feedback. When she post an assignment she is always unclear of what needs to be done so you will need to email her and ask your peers if they understood. She is a really tough grader so make sure you ask her for feedbacks.
Lim didn't have any organization with the class material. We would have random lectures and she wouldn't know what to talk about. We had to buy the Cengage book and had weekly assignments there. We were given written exams, which were graded HARD. I didn't get better than a C on any of them. Attendance is also mandatory.
Very very disorganized. She is so scrambled and all over the place. Would post homework with very unclear instructions. Feedback is difficult to understand and she is not accessible outside of class. You can pass this class, but you will be mainly relying on fellow classmates.
I would not recommend her guys. Like the other comments say she is really disorganized and gives unclear instructions. The entire class is about writing in a certain format and when you ask her about it she just goes in circles. It's just a really annoying class honestly. She's nice and all but not a great teacher.
Lim is fantastic at teaching BUAD writing! She breaks everything down step by step, making even tough writing assignments manageable. Her feedback is super helpful, and she genuinely cares about improving your skills. The class is well-organized and really prepares you for professional writing. She is also a super cool lawyer! Highly recommend!
Lectures were not helpful and assignments were complicated and repetitive. Class is unorganised and doesn't give out clear instructions. Always makes everything difficult and forgets to open homework and things. Take someone else if you don't want to be annoyed.
Nice person, but not helpful prof at all. Asking for clarification on assignments would give you an answer that does not answer your question, though she responds quickly. Helpful feedback given on one exam, but no feedback for all other assignments (including a project worth 35% of grade). Talk to classmates outside of class for clarification!!
She's very kind but grades immediately out of the gate through her rubric. Not tech savvy at all, and there will be confusion on several assignments. You can pass if you show up everyday and understand what she's asking for, but the first two midterms everyone had about a C- average.
She failed to show up to her own office hours until multiple students emailed her. She gives everyone a high D on her exams and doesn't explain what she's looking for. She doesn't teach and can't use a computer to save her life. Directions are unclear and expects her cases to be perfect(highest grade was a B on exams). Avoid her at all costs.
I would say that she was confusing us. She would give all this work and try to explain it in class but would leave more confused than before. The rest of the class was left confused as well. Our group felt like the worksheets didn't prepare us for the exam, because a lot of us were doing poorly.
after the final group project and exam my grade dropped from an A- to a B-.I went to every class, office hours for clarification on exams, but her instructions are so vague that the whole class was confused on what her expectations are. this course should be straightforward, not disorganized. avoid her if you dont wanna be frustrated all semester
the content of the course wasn't difficult but she made it difficult bc of DISORGANIZATION. I went to every class, office hours, did the EC but after the final exam & group project, my grade went from an A- to a B-. everyone in my class was confused and frustrated the whole semester. she's a nice person but i would avoid her as a professor.
Her class is so disorganized and it is like a maze trying to figure out what she expects out of you. Both the exams had adv. scores of C. You have to do many group projects. Finally she disabled the class in canvas before students could see finial course grades for individual assignments. If you take her you will end the semester confused and mad.
She doesn't have specific instructions on the assignment sometimes which can be confusing but ask, and she will explain more. She is a very caring person and uses Kahoot and Quizlet pretty much a lot. She also gives feedback and on test but she is indeed a harsh grader but will clarify things if needed. I feel like she will become a good teacher.
One of my favorite professors. As long as you show up to class and listen to the lectures, you should do well and pass. There's two exams, a final, and a few easy extra credit opportunities.
I took professor Lim for 2 different classes cuz I enjoyed her teaching a lot! Do the assignments, participate in class and you're good!!
Cool professor, daily assignments. Tests and quizzes hard. Shes chill and lenient.
Professor was understanding and accommodating to any of your needs. She does a lot of in class activities that are interactive. Highly recommend!
Don't take, very unorganized
She is a very caring Professor, and it's not hard to pass the class, but it can be a lot of work and homework.
Professor Lim is a caring person and can be kind at times; however, her course is VERY unorganized. Therefore, I would not recommend taking her for this course if you want actually to learn. She is very test-heavy, and often the quizzes/ exams do not relate to the material taught.
Tasks can be a little disorganized at times, but the professor is pretty lenient. There are group projects throughout the class and quizzes. She curves as necessary and allows cheat sheets for the exam. If you ask for something she tries her best to accommodate the class.
Good and caring professor. She's easy to reach out to and is willing to help or let you make up points when possible. Assignments could use a little clearer explanation, but overall she's supportive and the class wasn't a bad experience.
Assignments are either quizlets or group presentations. Each week feels a bit too flexible to the point where it feels like there's no structure to the class, where you are pretty much guessing what you'll learn or what assignments or quizzes you'll have that week. Unclear assignment expectations or directions. Nice teacher curves.
She's a super nice and caring professor, super accommodating and understanding if something comes up. Come to the lectures and you'll be good for exams. Lots of presentations but not too formal so it was less pressure and made me more comfortable presenting in general. Class structure is a little disorganized but other than that would take again!
This professor assigns quit a bit of presentations and curves grades when averages are lower than expected.
She's a very kind and understanding professor. There are a lot of group presentations, and while attendance isn't strictly required, participation is important and tied into her lectures. Overall, it's a great class! Just show up, participate, and do the work.
She was a good professor and detailed. I would recommend going to class even if it isn't mandatory because her tests are based on the lectures.
The professor is caring and willing to help, but the course is disorganized and could be difficult to follow if you miss one class and don't communicate.
She's a very understanding professor and she has real life examples so you can understand it more.
She was a solid that didn't do anything horrible. There are a lot of lessons and assignments that are very repetitive but other than that she was great. Study the quizlets and you'll do fine. I loved her open book tests/quizzes.
Professor was very caring and understanding to us and allowed us to make our own class guidelines. It is important to come to class and engage in the lectures because it's easy to become overwhelmed with so much material. There are various assignments/projects/in class activities but nothing too harsh.
Professor Lim Is helpful and kind but also pretty unorganized, there were quite a few assignments where the instructions were unclear
The professor is really caring towards students and helps them improve their learning as much as possible. Attendance is not mandatory, but I suggest that you do not want to miss any class, as there are always assignments given in class. Overall, this class is challenging, but I would retake this professor.
She cares about her students and wants you to succeed, plans do change but she always tries to make it best for the students. Trust the process, but quizzes and tests were tough.
Nice and caring professor. She assigns a lot of work but it is very manageable as long as you show up to class and try you will be fine.
A couple of quizzes, you can study from the quizlet, but still was difficult, few questions weren't on the Quizlet. A couple open answered questions too. If she notices students aren't doing well, she does give extra credit or retakes for quizzes that do help your overall grade. Lots of small presentations with your group, but it's not that bad.
She's a caring instructor and you can tell she wants students to succeed. I think the class could be a bit more organized. The quizzes and tests are on the tougher side, and there are quite a few group projects and presentations, so be ready to stay on top of the work. If you put in the effort, you'll get a lot out of the class.
Great professor! She's super sweet and really cares about her students. There are a lot of quizzes and filler assignments, but they're relatively easy—just time-consuming and u do have to study for the quizzes. She doesn't take attendance, but participation is in-class only. Recommend her, just don't slack off or you'll fall behind!
Professor Lim cares about her students and wants them to succeed. You have to put in the effort as well! I would recommend taking her and just ask if you are confused or unsure of anything, she is willing to take the time to help you in anyway she can !
Professor Lim is amazing! Whenever a problem arises in class, she is always willing to work with students to help them succeed. There are numerous group presentations, and the chapter quizzes can be quite challenging, but aside from that, this is a great class that challenges your perspective of the world.
Professor Lim is a great professor, caring, and passionate. Her class is lecture heavy and there are many in-class group activities. So participation truly matters. Her quizzes and exams are multiple choice and short answer, and they are tough! As long as you stay on top of your assignments, and reading the chapters you will do good!
She is a very nice professor; however, the class can feel a little disorganized at times. Her quizzes are very hard and normally around 25 questions. There are only 2 exams, the midterm and the final. The midterm is not easy and you will need to study. She did not give us a study guide for the midterm but does for the final.
Knowledgeable and engaging professor who uses different teaching methods and is very kind and understanding. The only drawback is that the tests don't always match the lectures closely, so extra studying is needed. Overall, a good and supportive instructor.
Covers material that is needed to be learned, skipping on lectures will lead you to fall behind, so go to classes. Overall I'd take this professor again knowing the grading criteria.
She actually was really great! Cares about class participation and her lectures create a sense of dialogue with the class. While attendance wasn't mandatory, there were many small (easy-ish) group projects to do each week in person for participation credit. There were also quizzes every other week but they did reflect the midterms and final content
Professor Lim provides a very engaging classroom atmosphere and everyone in this class was very receptive to her teaching style. Despite the long classes, I really appreciated the effort she put into making this class enjoyable and engaging.
Have to be active inside the class and be willing to discuss if you want to have a good grade.
3 assignments for 3 case studies. One group project with a presentation. Attendance everyday, but lets you leave early. Overall, an easy to pass and I took her for MGMT and BUAD.
Professor Lim was a very good teacher. She had clear lectures and videos that allowed us to excel in group work. Would recommend to other students in business.
This professor is caring, an easy grader, as long as you show up your going to pass. Lienant grader for sure, ive taken two of her classes as of now and passed with flying colors.
Lots of group work, but overall, the class is manageable. Homework is usually light and mostly consists of case readings. One big group project and presentation. This professor is very nice and encourages class participation.
She's great! Her tests are a little hard though.
Professor Lim was a good teacher and really cares about her students. This class requires a lot of work but it is manageable. Lots of presentations, quizzes every week, either a reading quiz or chapter quiz and the chapter quizzes were hard. Some of her stuff was unorganized and instructions weren't clear but it was a manageable class.
She cares and wants the best for all her students. Take her feedback as good constructive criticism. A lot of group projects and assignments, and case studies you read throughout the semester. Her lectures are manageable. One group presentation. I would take her again for sure!
Professor Lim was a very kind teacher who truly cared about her students. The class included many group projects and presentations. The exams were challenging, but overall, the class was manageable.
Class discussions and group work are a big part of this course, so be ready to collaborate with your peers and contribute. She thoroughly explains the material and gives a lot of constructive criticism. Overall a chill class, it's not a hard pass.
Canvas was very confusing but always willing to answer questions. A lot of class discussions- be ready to participate- ends up being answers for assignments. Homework not hard and could work on it in class. Provides a lot of feedback with grades. Case readings but not many/ long. Not a lot of work. VERY nice & patient. Would take again! Take her!
Super interesting assignments and a ton of group projects, but honestly really manageable. If you like hands-on learning and working with people, this class is actually fun.
Lots of group work required. Most HW done in person, so if you miss a class, you might be missing out on a couple of assignments. Many Quizlet quizzes. Exams are heavy, but she does allow for a cheat sheet on the final exam. It's pretty difficult to contact her at times, so if you want a response, its best to ask her in person while you can.
Professor is prepared, theres a clear agenda each class, if your'e participating you should do alright in the class. As far as excelling, the harsh grading along with the very fast pace the class moves, paired with somewhat brief instructions I found myself and many times students around me confused on exactly what we were doing and where.
Her canvas can be very disorganized and confusing, and there is lots of group work. She locks assignments until class time and uses lockdown browser for timed 1 hour exams. But overall the class content wasn't difficult, just show up to class and take notes on what she says. She is also very nice and caring.
Professor Lim is very smart woman.....you can tell by her line of questioning her cross examinations were fierce! lol...She very easy going and understanding...There were no bad days in her class! And last but not least, you grow! I grew an inch everyday and no question became a better student and professional.
Anna Lim was a good professor for BUAD 301, and I enjoyed being in her class. I appreciated her class discussions, and dedication to get other students to participate in discussions as well. It often helped me when taking notes for lectures, and for upcoming exams. Overall, if you show up to class and do the work- you'll do well in this class.
She was a great Professor; she is a tough grader when it came to the essays and midterms but besides that she was super lenient. Especially because I had some personal things going on and she gave me some extensions on big projects. Very understanding and as long as you do the work, you'll be fine.
She was a very understanding professor, pretty easy course just pay attention in class and attend class and you'd be fine with this course
The professor explains things in a clear and straightforward way, which makes the class easier to follow. Their teaching style is relaxed but still organized, and they usually break things down so students can understand the material without feeling lost.
Overall enjoyable class, professor can be a tough grader but expect to learn new beneficial skills
Lectures are entertaining, prepares us well for the test, but can be tough to get an A. Overall, I would take her class again.
Took this in person and there was group participation every week. Prof. Lim was engaged, helpful, and prepared. She clearly provides the expectation for each assignment and is available for guidance. Put in the time to do your assignments and you will get a good grade. Do the work and you will be fine, I would take another one of her courses again.
Professor was great! We had three exams, including the final on the readings. You do have to try and show up to class but the professor is great and very willing to help.
I actually liked taking her class. She would go over the case study a lot with the class, and we worked on it as a group, too. She would go into detail on how to prepare for the exam, which is on the case study, so if you don't pay attention, you won't do well on it (obviously).
No regrets for taking Business Communication class with Anna Lim :)
To me, she was a really good professor. Even though I didn't do well on my first exam, her guidance and explanations helped me improve a lot on the second one. She truly values class discussion, encourages students to share their ideas, and is always willing to help when you need it.
She is caring person, I don't have any expectations for this class actually, hard to get good exam because of my own writing isn't really good, but if you have great critical thinking skills and put it to every exam, you'll have good grades (cheat sheet from reading is allowed).
The class has two midterm in person essay and a final essay. There is a lot of group work and participation so dont miss classes (often). The class overall was enjoyable but hard. Dont miss classes if you want to get a good score on the essays.
Prepares students well for test, but it can be hard to receive an A on test. Lectures are really entertaining and gives a lot of opportunities for participation points.
Professor was very kind and gave good lectures. Expect group projects and readings. She is a fair grader and gives helpful feedback to revise submissions. I enjoyed her class and would take her course again.
Was very big on critical thinking and using sources. Had an open mind and viewed everything from multiple perspectives.
She is very nice, but you need to come to class; the attendance grade matters, and most assignments are due in class.
The professor had great energy and a good attitude. Coursework was pretty light. There is a lot of group work involved throughout the semester. Only three exams and they are all written. She is a little unorganized with due dates and what should be completed. Would take her again.
The professor assigns a lot of group work so be ready to join groups and discussion the material. Would recommend if you like working in groups. Professor is cool and gives good feedback lessons are short not much slides mainly work on case studies.
The course layout is very clear. The professor is great at preparing you for the test exams. She is specific about how she wants you to write, but she prepares you before all tests. If you put in the work, the course should not be that hard.
Great professor overall. She really does care about her class/students. Very flexible you just have to communicate your needs to her. A lot of quizzes and the exams can be tough. Do the quizlets and read the book at least and you should be fine. Also find a good group in the beginning and that will really change your experience in the class.
As a person, she is kind and nice and provides feedback to help you improve. But as a teacher, the class feels a little disorganized. You will have to prepare for the next class on your own, as she does not summarize the upcoming classes. Make sure that you are on top of your coursework and be prepared, as the lectures will help tremendously.
Good professor that listens to student feedback. HW is light. Offers extra credit and curves test scores if needed. Great option for your graduation requirement.
The professor is very kind and engaging. Attendance and participation are important since many assignments are done in class. She encourages critical thinking and different perspectives. Fair grading with helpful feedback. Tests can be challenging, but she prepares us well. I enjoyed the class and would take it again.
She isn't a bad professor to take. She wants everyone to pass and is very accommodating. There are a lot of group presentations.
The material in BUAD 301 is useful, but the class can feel lecture-heavy at times. Some instructions for assignments could be clearer, and group projects can be hit or miss depending on your team. Overall, not a bad class, but be ready to stay organized and manage your time.
Overall, a really good professor! The workload is super manageable, and she gives adequate time for the group projects. My only complaints are that she locks assignments before class, so you can't look or work ahead, and that her verbal instructions can be confusing. Her written rubrics tend to be very straightforward, though.
Professor Lim has great energy and understanding on what she teaches in this class. She offers honest criticism that ultimately will help anyone perform better in this class. Her lectures are almost a necessity for understanding how much detail she wants you to be capable of accomplishing in future classes and even career.
Knowledgeable instructor, but the course lacked clarity and consistency. Slides were unclear without lectures, assignments were confusing, and expectations often changed. Quizzes didn't always match what we were told to study. Too many unnecessary assignments. Overall nice professor but I probably wouldn't take her class again.
Professor is a kind and caring person. She truly wants her students to succeed, however, the class within itself lacked greatly in structure and organization. There was no proper routine or being organized with class schedules and assignments every week. Every week was a surprise presentation. Lots of presentations. Overall, not too bad.
Professor was very bubbly and class was never boring as we had fun lightweight group activities that made up alot of easy points as long as you go to class. This class is what you make it as she lets the class pick what should make your grade cheat sheets, quizzes, attendance etc. Overall I would take again it was my least stressful for upper divison
Professor Lim's was very caring and made class super enjoyable! Her class was very easy and most of the time clear instruction, just ensure due dates. There's one digital textbook most work is based on. Class work is mainly in groups, but she allows individual. She asks many questions, but they're asked to think outside the box (personally good).
Amazing Teacher! Emphasizing the teacher part, she knows her stuff for 440, she's passionate about the course and easy to approach when needed. Here is the catch, terrible course assignments, tests are super long with multiple choice and free response on random stuff that gets you wondering why tf am I being asked this in a 400 level course.
Classes can be all over the place but she does a good job preparing us for quizzes/exams. We did many in class projects/activities boost your grade.
Anna is an amazing person and great teacher. She made this course really easy for us to pass and get good grade. There's homework readings and assignments but that's expected. She's super sweet and understanding.
Anna is an amazing person. Very helpful throughout the semester and gives a very detailed feedback. It really helped me and a lot of other students.
Be prepared to do a lot of team projects and to participate in class.
She is very helpful about the grades and gives thorough feedback for your grade. The classwork is usually group based. She gives rubrics and provides clarification if necessary. Attendance is mandatory and part of your grade. The attendance for class is beneficial to the exams as you review material and can utilize it for study guides.
She's a great Professor, she's in person heavy. But she does offer extra credit. Hopefully she passes me.
I took Buad 301 this fall. She's very helpful and willing to help with any questions you have. I enjoyed this class I would recommend. The material isn't too difficult. The largest assignment is the group project so choose your group wisely.
