She is helpful and cares about her students. If someone were to get a bad grade on a test, she asks them what happened and what she can do to help. I highly recommend her if you are going to take spanish. Her tests are easy if you study.

Mrs. McGarry is firm, fun, and a master of her craft. She also is the only Spanish teacher who tests per chapter instead of every two, which I think is so much better. Prof. McGarry, states what she wants from her students from the beginning, and always sticks to her schedule. She is firm on grading, but she is also very sweet. If you are serious about learning spanish, tkae it with her, but if you just want an easy A, it's the wrong class for you.

I passed her class with an A!!!That was after I had failed Spanish 3 times before with other teachers. I thought I was someone who couldn't succeed in Spanish. She takes the complex and intimidating concepts and makes them easy to understand. I am no genius and I now can hold a conversation pretty well with Spanish speakers. Its a cool feeling!!!

This class kept my attention all semester, I never got bored, and I was in the 6:45am class. Sra McGarry is a very good professor, she wants nothing but the best for her students. o would definetly reccommend her to anyone wanting to learn Spanish. Don't take this class just to get by, you'll fail. you have to work hard in this class, and if you do, it will definetly pay off. I took her for Spanish II and III. She is very explicit and does work with you. The only thing she asks is participation and attendance. If there's any trouble, she is available to break it down for you. The grammar can be confusing, but all it takes is practice. She ensures that you do exactly that with creative ways to learn it.

All she requires is that you come to class and do your work. She makes learning the language interesting even though it sometimes gets tough. Not an easy class since only a handful got A's, but it was really fun. We had to do a speech in Spanish and the final exam was multiple choice. The test were a little hard. I always got low A's on them. Still managed to get an A in the class. If you are not a native speaker, this class might be a little bit difficult. You will have to study a lot.

She wants every student in her class to clearly understand the material and will even go to the extent of revising her syllabus in order to review material that may be difficult for the class to understand. Its a really easy class because she teaches the concepts in a very clear way and is always patient when you need more help. What made the class so hard was the HOURS of homework online which made it harder to access. She changed the schedule so I kept missing quizzes going by what was in my planner. She wont allow you to leave class or skip class.

If it is your first time taking Spanish it may be difficult and neex to make sure you stay on track of vocab and the course material. She picks on every student equally, even though participation doesn't count. Very strict with her attendance policy, she dropped several students who missed above the amount they could. Over all alright teacher.

Overall a good professor. She is tough so be prepared to study. Spanish 102 is difficult if you don't speak Spanish but doable.

Took SPAN 101H w/ her over Winter & SPAN 102H in the Spring. She knows how to explain core concepts so they're easier to understand and is very nice/approachable if you need help, just ask. The work is totally doable, you just have to put in the time & effort (it's a 5 unit course for a reason). I would 100% recommend taking Span w/ Prof McGarry!

I'm a nonspanish speaker& while the class was pretty difficult since it was a summer course McGarry is a VERY helpful & clear professor! She builds a class environment where ur not afraid to speak in spanish. I had to work hard & study frequently but it IS doable for a nonspanish speaker. The Spanish honors class is fairly new but Professor McGarry does a great job of teaching the course and makes it fun. It can be a little challenging if you do not know a lot of Spanish but Prof. McGarry is always helpful and if you do speak Spanish, you are still able to learn and grow. I highly recommend taking this class for everyone in honors.

Professor McGarry was very nice and created a class environment where I wasn't afraid to learn and participate. Professor McGarry breaks down concepts gramatically so that they are easy to grasp. Her classrooom exercises improved my verbal speed and accuracy. The class is alot of fun if you are willing to put forth the effort and practice at home. She offers plenty of extra credit homework that really add up toward the exams. Im taking Professor McGarry's Spanish 101 class and I have to say I really like the way she teaches. She offers structured well organized lectures and you can see her passion for teaching Spanish. Winter classes move quickly so for best results try spring. Her test are fair and HW is easy you just need to actually put some work into it.

Professor McGarry's Spanish 101 class is not the easiest class in the world, but Spanish is not the easiest language to learn. She has a very good grasp of it and teaches it well. She answers all questions clearly and cares that every student understands the lessons. A C takes moderate effort, an A takes a lot. The way it should be.

I took Prof. McGarry's course and loved it. She has a very easy to follow, progressive structure for the class that includes engaging in conversation (even in 101!), which is not common for intro courses. This course is not easy. However, if you do what's required, you'll come out with a proficient understanding of Spanish and be well set for 102.

This was my 2nd course w/McGarry. I recommend this course to any student who wants to get a firm grasp of Spanish, not just enough to fly thru the class. Even if (like me) you are not a native speaker, you will succeed with McGarry because she makes it possible thru her thoughtful explanations, exercises, and projects. I give a 5/5, no question!

To all high school students looking to take this class as supplemental credit: Professor McGarry is thorough and fair, but I would have drowned in the summer session class's fast pace if I had not done well in high school Spanish 1 and Citrus SPAN101 first. Also, be prepared to spend at least four extra hours on homework/studying per class day!

I recently took Professor McGarry over the summer as my first ever Spanish class, and I have no regrets at all. Professor McGarry is not only an incredibly patient and thorough professor, but her course style makes the 3 and 1/2 hour class engaging and interesting. Definitely expect to work hard though and do the hw if you want a good grade.

I took McGarrys Spanish 2 class last semester and have to say she continues to be one of the best professors Ive had yet. She authentically enjoys teaching Spanish and gets excited with the class when she sees improvement. If you are serious about learning Spanish she will go that extra mile to help you.

The class has daily quizzes, so study. Attendance is mandatory. If you skip class, you'll lose out on the lessons that are essential to the tests. Span 101 is a great course! :)

I took la Profesora for span1 and 2 (which is remote). Im telling you, this woman will bend over backwards for her students. She stays with us and explains concepts whenever need be. Yes, the class work is reflective of a 5 unit class and you will work for your grade, but man will you ever learn actual Spanish. Take her! The lectures are amazing.

we went to online due to Covid. If I am being 100% honest even though we went through remote learning I still learned the language ! She keeps you on your work, in order to pass the class you NEED to watch the video lectures and take good notes. If you are willing to learn she will help you. Overall loved her class and would take her class again !

I definitely recommend Mrs McGarrys class. She offers helpful exercises that she designs herself or collects from different resources so that her students can gain a solid understanding of the material. Her classes often include fun games, and I have enjoyed both the online and in person lectures.

As fluent Spanish speaker I thought I knew it all. I was wrong theres so much to learn in Spanish. Professor Mcgarry records the best lectures and easy to understand, but you must watch it when its assign If not you would be lost in the zoom class and she would ask you to leave the class and come back when you watch it. Zoom University is rough. I've always hated online class so this has been an ADJUSTMENT. But she makes this class feel as close to an in-class experience as possible. She REALLY CARES, gives you tons of resources, and offers lots of feedback and support. Not an easy A but you will learn Spanish and you might even look forward to class! Tómalo!

very accomodating to the class's requests and situations. Put in a lot of work on your end, but there are never surprises on the quizzes and exams if you do the activities assigned. Quizzes are every week and lesson exams are every other week, going by 1 chapter at a time. Lectures can get really funny and enjoyable too, you learn a lot!!

I was intimidated by all of the course work in the beginning, but once you get the hang of VHL (the website you use), everything is easy. There is A LOT of work to do in this class, but it's easy, especially if you take notes in her lectures. I learned a lot. But she definitely makes you work for your grade, and absolutely no late work is accepted.

Professor McGarry is a great instructor. Although the course is online and uses VHL central, Professor McGarry provides a lot of supplemental information and lectures that make the online work much easier and you actually learn from her.

I took this class for Winter 2021. She is a great professor, but she isn't understanding of technical issues you might have with VHL (homework site) which sucks because everything is online right now. She also doesn't offer extra credit. Lots of homework about 14-19 hours per lesson. I would take her if you actually want to learn Spanish!

The BEST professor I had at Citrus College. Took 101Honors and 102Honors, loved her so much! Her classes are definitely rigorous and require you to work hard, but theyre designed for you to learn. To succeed, you need to follow her very organized syllabus, and put in the time! Such a caring person - she will go above and beyond to help you succeed

I took Professor Mcgarry during the first half of the Spring Semester. It was online due to Covid, but it was straightforward. There was a lot of hw to get done, but that's expected from a condensed course. She has plenty of videos to watch, and I could've had a higher grade, but it was hard to get partners for certain assignments.

Professor McGarry has been one of my favorite teachers at Citrus so far. She is understanding especially during these difficult times were going through. I took her eight week course and it was heavy on assignments but it was nothing too hard. As long as you do all your work and read the book you should be fine,

I took Spanish 101 the 8wks course. It was a lot, but its manageable. You need to study your Spanish homework in order to pass the tests. Homework was fairly easy if you know a bit of Spanish but its a lot. Overall this class helped me advance in my Spanish.

My Spanish before taking her course was not as fully developed as I thought it was. I took her class not only as a refresher but as a way to improve and extend my vocabulary and speaking ability.

Her class was awesome! It is definitely not an super easy class but if you are willing to get ready and learn Spanish seriously, she is the one for you. I personally enjoyed her class a lot. She cares about students, lots of HW but she breaks them down well so that we can understand easily.

This is a steep step-up from the basic concepts of SPAN 101. Fortunately, Profesora McGarry has a VERY comprehensive lecture series (online due to COVID) that complements and even corrects the textbook coursework. The online class meetings fill in any material comprehension gaps. It is an effective teaching strategy trifecta. Strongly suggested.

I took SPAN101 with Professor McGarry for the 8wk Fall course. From the very beginning she made it clear that the workload would be heavy. However, professor McGarry is such a caring person. When I had questions regarding an exam she went over it THREE times to make sure there weren't any discrepancies on the test and that my grade was accurate!

Profesora McGarry's Spanish 101 class was harder than I anticipated, despite the fact that I had a slight background in Spanish. I knew the amount of work was necessary for this accelerated class though. Fortunately, I wasn't confronted with any issues with this class or Profesora McGarry.

*Based on Online 8 Week Course* Professor McGarry is very caring and passionate about what she does. If you want to learn & be a better student this class is for you. Time management is a must!!! My advice: Listen to lecture, take good notes, and STUDY you will pass. This class is HW heavy.

I had a winter online class with Professor McGary. I was struggling with some exam material and I decided to attend office hours. She is so great, every time I met with her she was very helpful and gave me great tips on how to succeed on the next exam. I ended up getting a 98% on that exam we reviewed. I truly recommend Professor McGary.

Profesora McGarry is really good. She made clear online courses which are easy to understand. Working on VHL helped to practice. She's always there whenever you need her, and she feels with her students. I really recommend her for Spanish. But know that you need to study. If you're not willing to, you will fail. The 6 weeks course is very dense.

I took her 6 week Spanish 101 class for this past Winter semester. She breaks down each week perfectly. She also provides lecture videos for each chapter. I loved this class and enjoyed it very much. I will definitely take her classes again.

This class was tough, but so rewarding. As an educator myself, taking this class was eye opening. You learn SO much. One thing that is wonderful about Prof. Mcgarry's teaching style is that she balances the content of the lectures with real world applications of the language. You not only learn Spanish, you learn about the Spanish-speaking world.

8 wk course. This class isnt easy and its a lot of hw, BUT Prof. McGarry provides EXCELLENT lectures and worksheets and the homework is necessary to pass the exams. Prof genuinely cares about her students and wants them to succeed so as long as you are willing to put in the time and effort you will pass. Highly recommend this class and this Prof!

I really enjoyed taking Profesora Mcgarry for Spanish. As I have never taken Spanish before I was a little nervous but with her easy and fun lectures I was able to get the hang of it. There is a decent amount of homework and for some, it may be a lot but with some planning, organizing, and being productive I never felt overwhelmed.

Profesorra McGarry is an amazing person and teacher! She is always smiling, enthusiastic about teaching and genuinely cares about sharing her love for Spanish. I had so much fun learning Spanish for the first time and all of the lectures, homework assignments, and in-class participation definitely helped me grasp the concepts so much more easily!

Profesor McGrarry is the best teacher I've had so far in my college experience. She actually cares about you fully understanding each lesson. She's sweet in nature and gives everyone a chance to participate in class. If you want a teacher that genuinley loves teaching, pick her! I look forward to having her as my teacher for Spanish 2.

I truly enjoyed her lectures, she gives excellent examples and compares scenarios so we can easily understand each subject and module. She also shares videos about different cultures in the world which encouraged me to travel to some of those countries and also you will learn about many cultures and how to speak and write proper Spanish. Profesora McGarry's class was hard, but I highly recommend it to anyone who actually wants to learn Spanish. Homework-heavy, but each assignment preps you for the tests which are every 2 weeks. Also heavy on the lectures but you'll get breaks. Expect solid feedback from her as well. She's engaging and grades fairly. Best teacher I've had at Citrus.

I loved this class I recommended it 100%. She cares about your success and makes sure you understand each module. The homework is challenging but at the same time you will learn so much and also will learn cultures from different countries and their languages. Professor MCGarry is amazing at explaining examples and she is very professional.

I took the online class and found it to be very well put together. There is a lot of homework, so don't procrastinate too much or you'll get buried. Profesora McGarry's video lectures are very well done and super helpful in learning the material. I felt like I finished the class accomplishing everything I hoped to achieve.

Learning another language is hard--to paraphrase Steve Martin, "It's like those Spanish have a different word for everything!" But Professor McGarry made the task easier for this Miami boy (whose Cuban friends long ago deemed a hopeless "Anglo-codependent") by selecting an excellent web-supported textbook and giving clear, illuminating lectures.

Although Professora McGarry's class can be challenging due to the online aspect, it is a well organized course that incorporates engaging lectures, helpful homework, and excellent feedback on exams. She genuinely wants her students to learn Spanish and succeed in the course. I highly recommend taking this class!

I took her for an 8-week online Spanish 102 course. Syllabus was laid out very clear and if you did have a questions she would respond to emails very quickly! Very kind and understanding professor. As long as you do the work and pay attention to feedback you will pass.

Professora Mcgarry is an awesome professor, she puts a lot of work into her class and loves what she does. She puts lots of information in her lectures and in her chapter packets and it's easy to navigate. I really enjoyed her class and the activities we did in class. Also I didn't understand what it meant by how difficult is you professor.

Professor McGarry has been by far the best professor I have taken at Citrus College. Her well-organized course and her consistent support allowed me to gain the Spanish skills I was lacking. Profesora McGarry is great. She's gone out of her way to provide resources like extra work sheets and study guides to prep for the exams. The class is a lot of work, but if you watch the lectures and do the homework, she has set you up to succeed. She's also a very fair grader, and while exams are a big part of the grade they are not hard/scary.

Professor McGarry's class was a course to take to better your Spanish only if you are taking it as an 8 week course. But if you really want to learn Spanish then take it as a 16 week course, because all the material, lectures, exams that were given are very beneficial. This professor gives great feedback, and is available when needed.

Professor McGarry was fair, constructive and motivating! Class material was tough even as a Spanish speaker so be ready to take notes.

Professor McGarry is a passionate, caring professor that I think most students would enjoy taking. I do however recommend not taking her online class in the winter considering it is 5 credits and has a lot of homework, I mean a lot... Take her in the Fall or Spring and you will probably enjoy learning Spanish. She is patient and expects hard work.

Took this course online over summer. I never liked Spanish classes but this class actually helped me to understand things in a better context. Professora McGarry integrated the VHL online textbook very well and the lectures were very helpful. Would've been an easy A if I hadn't skipped a few sets of assignments.

I took Professor McGarry's 6-week summer course. There is a lot of homework but it's definitely doable as long as you organize yourself. She genuinely wants you to do well in class and will help you out! Very nice professor.

Professor McGarry was one of the most wonderful professors I've had, and I loved taking her class. For any taking her class or planning on doing so, I would advise devoting most of your time on her lectures, as they are incredibly comprehensive. They will help you not only in this class, but in using Spanish in everyday life.

I took this course in the winter session; if you don't have a Spanish background, wait until the regular semester because the amount of work can be overwhelming. The professor did a fantastic job explaining in an easily understandable way and was very responsive and caring for her students. I would take another course with her.

I learned a ton, and she explains things incredibly well. Her handouts are clear and helpful. But the exams had little time, and she repeatedly put a few wrong answers/questions on tests. She corrected it when told, but that was aggravating, If you know your material, you'll be fine. Take this class if you want to learn Spanish, not for an easy A.

I took Profesora McGarry's hybrid class. If you are serious about learning Spanish, I highly recommend her classes. Lectures are comprehensive and well thought out. Excellent learning tools. Classes are engaging and fun. She is invested in student success. You will learn a lot. But if you want a good grade, be prepared to earn it by doing the work.

I want other students to know that Professor Mcgarry is a caring professor and noticed the little things by checking in on me with my assignments. The only reason I got a C was because of my own actions doing my homework late. I recommend to take Professor Mcgarry for Spanish 101.

If you know some Spanish this class should be easy, if you don't as long as you have your notes and definitions written you will be okay. VHL assignments are a lot, takes up a lot of time so be ready for that. The textbook? For me personally I only ever use it when I need to read the Flash Cultura sections, so expensive only for that!

Great class to learn Spanish. Lots of work but it's to help you learn. Not an easy class but its rewarding. She's a professor who cares and it shows. I like her.

Note: I took Profesora's 6-week Spanish 101 Summer class and her 8-week Spanish 102 Fall class. I really enjoyed Profesora McGarry's Spanish classes. The modules were very straightforward, the announcements made it clear what was to be done every week, and the textbook was fun. If you don't know Spanish, the accelerated courses will be difficult.

Her class is very structured and to breaks the subject into manageable pieces. If you do not have time for the homework I would recommend waiting to take Spanish until you time because that practice is necessary not just for her class but for the subject as a whole. McGarry is a great professor for anyone who actually intends to learn Spanish.

Profesora McGarry is an excellent, well-organized professor. Her asynchronous course is clearly structured with helpful lecture videos, handouts, and manageable homework. She is kind, responsive, and supportive, even for non-native speakers. The pace is fast, but manageable, and the materials provide practice in reading, listening, and speaking.
