She is so helpful, I can't believe someone wrote in anything negative. She is one of the better teachers in the college. Tough grader, but I am learning a lot.

She is so awesome! I really liked her class except for the fact that she gave out alot of homework. She is very helpful and will take time out to make sure you understand the concepts. Be prepared to learn =) She's the bomb =)

I may have just bombed my midterm portfolio, but she is the best teacher I have had at mcc. And this is my last semester. grades REALLY hard but teaches well. I like her powerpoints too.

I found Professor McWhirter to be a very good teacher for critical thinking. Her grading really doesn't seem to be all that hard, just listen to her lectures and think critically during exams and she'll reward you. Good class!

Very good teacher but a lot of homework. This class took all my time; I had to spend 10 to 12 hrs per week only for homework. I'm 4.0 GPA student and I had to withdraw this class because with all the effort I put in this class I didn't see results.

About half the class dropped, but those of us who stayed until today's final project were very happy. we were talking about it after class. I thought the class was EXTREMELY helpful and we all got alot out of the service learning. Excellent experience.

Easy class if you do the work. The work is interesting, so it kept my interest. Class is enjoyable with lots of video clips and discussions that really help you when you have to do the work on your own. Highly recommend her class.

Prof. Mcwhirter was a wonderful person. She was always willing to help, and always left her door open to those who needed office hours. Although the class was a challenge for me, I enjoyed learning many valuable things. I would only recommend this class to people who are willing to work, if you are lazy-- don't bother. This class requires a lot of critical thinking. Don't be lazy. Do the assignments. She requires 15 hours of service learning.

Honestly I don't see what the fuss is about. The workload is 15 hours of service, 2 or 3sentences a week online, and a few projects. You have to THINK and analyze articles. I didn't find the work too much at all. Great teacher.

Extremely nice! But don't be rude because she can dish it back. The 15 service hours are required but they replace having to write 3 essays which is a plus. Textbook helped but could have done fine without it. Very quick to respond to emails.

She taught me how to think. I gained alot. Very clear explanations. Read the instructions and follow the directions, if you don't you don't get the grade you want. Wish she taught other subjects, I would take her again for anything.

Professor McWhirter is a good instructor. As in any class, you need to do the work and study to achieve a good or satisfactory grade. I believe it is up to the student. She is an awesome professor and I would recommend taking her. She is not hard, just wants the best for her students.

Best teacher at MCC. Very helpful, responds to emails quickly. Will stand by her policy on lateness, so do the work and you will enjoy and learn. This is defanitly one of the best classes I have taken here.

Great teacher. Class was enjoyable. Lots of activities and entertaining presentations. Must do service learning, but it was worthwhile and I am glad I took the class. Homework is all turned in online, but she is pretty helpful. I didn't know how to use canvas at the start and she was very patient. I learned a lot.

Mandatory 15hrs of service learning. Homework every week and turn in only. She does not accept late work. Very sarcastic person, and some times makes you feel dumb. When I asked for help she said she did not have time, ask one of your classmates. I didn't know anyone!!! You learn and that's finally what you want....

I am really enjoying this class. The work is challenging but I can tell it will be useful. Best teacher. Humorous and enjoyable. Patient. Always smiling. My service learning was actually really helpful and I may be getting hired there. Wouldn't have done it without her class.

Professor McWhirter is awesome! If you attend class and complete your assignments, you as a student will succeed. She is open to feedback and will adjust IF necessary. If you want to learn, take her class.

This is a great teacher. Class was really helpful. she made adjustments throughout the semester that we all really appreciated. it's clear she cares about us. I recommend her. You will enjoy the class. You will only get the grade you want if you do the work, but you will enjoy class even if you don't do the work.

EXCELLENT Class, excellent teacher. I completely enjoyed every class session, and still think about what I learned. The group work was good practice for the tests. No surprises. If you want to learn-- take her class. She is very understanding and helpful to me when I needed her. Makes you do service learning, but it is really goodenjoyable.

Very clear on expectations. She is a great instructor and knows that not all students are on the same level so she takes it appropriately slow. She does assign homework every week but as long as you are on point with every assignments you will pass. If you want an easy class this is not for you. You receive what you put into.

Great teacher. Passionate about what she does. Only complaint is how inflexible she is about some of her rules-- granted this is a critical reading course.

Well educated in the subject. Phenomenal teacher. I always walked out knowing significantly more than when I stepped in. Wasn't fond of the subject, but I'm glad I had her as an instructor. It's an easy B, but a hard A. You get what you put into it. Community service was easy, btw. Junior now and she is still in my top 5 for favorites.

Homework every week, but it's completely doable. I work 30 hrs and have 15 credits. I had no problem with getting the work in. She lets you know early so you can plan it. Required service learning was a good resume builder, so I am glad I did it. Without Professor McWhirter, I wouldn't have. Hers was one of the best classes I have taken at MCC.

I really enjoyed Anna's class. She listened to us and changed the way she did things after asking us for feedback. She is confident in the subject and made it interesting by having us do group work which was really fun and helped me learn how to read critically. She is one of the best teachers I have ever had. The service learning was enjoyable.

She's a really good teacher. You won't be sorry. She doesn't spend much time lecturing but does a lot of small group problem solving. And games. One day we even had to use critical thinking skills to escape the room. Challenging and really fun. I enjoyed the class and recommend it. What I learned this semester I can use in real life.

Anna gives very helpful feedback. I actually really enjoyed our final exam and learning about state Propositions. It just goes to show that once you know everything, your perceptions can change.

I loved my CRE class online even though I didn't want to take it. I was 2 points away from not having to take the class, but I would have missed out on the best class I ever took. Anna challenged me in a way that made me gain confidence and I really am glad I took her class.

I have taken 8 online classes at this point, and this is by far the best one. She doesn't teach it the same as everyone else. She has lectures on videos that are short (I hate long boring ones) and then assignments where she gave me a lot of information. You don't just get a "good job"-- you get paragraphs on your work. I learned a lot from her.

I'm loving this class. We're half way through now, and it's clear she cares about us. She's not fake and actually tries the assignments first. Like she did service learning herself before making us do it. She showed us how to verify evidence but she used her own service as an example. I like that.

Anna has been really helpful to me and I would recommend her class to anyone who wants someone who cares about them. She taught us how to write a grant so we can visit a school and give them supplies. She lets us do her homework using the books from another class so we actually learn more in that other class. This class is an easy A if you do the work. She adapts the class to your needs. We are in groups right now and when your group needs help, she helps. I make mistakes, but when she is satisfied with your progress, she lets you go early. Honestly, I feel like she actually respects my time and the work I've done before class.

Anna really cares about us. She lets us use a book from another class we're taking as the textbook for her homework, so I am doing really well in my math class because of her class. She gives you good feedback and wants me to get good grades in my math class, so it's really helping. She's a great teacher.

I took RDG100 last semester and loved Anna's class. She allowed us to use another class material for homework and that bumped up my grade in my BIO class, which was really helpful. She kept asking us about our grade in that class and it really made me think about it more. Seriously, I would not have done so well in BIO without her help.

Anna really helped me. She makes you pick another class to work with so I did all her homework using my PSY101 book. It's just practicing what she teaches in class, She makes you do a portfolio and when she saw how I studied for psy, she used that so I didn't have to take her final exam. I even nominated her for an award. I got an A in psy too.

I am not used to online classes, and this one is only 8 weeks, but this professor is so nice. She met with me in her office and really helped me. I am doing well now because she was so kind to me. I dont feel frustrated anymore. Take her.

I am loving Anna's class. Our group is solid and she makes the class really fun. We don't just sit and listen to lectures, we work together to solve problems with our groups. I am liking the service learning too, which is a surprise.

Learned so much information and new material in Professor McWhirter's Critical Reading & Thinking course (CRE101). A lot of different assignments and work, but all very manageable to do and it is very helpful towards the content of each module. Recommend to all students who need this course - 10/10!!

IT was WAYYYY better-- she gives interesting assignments lets you think about the material to learn it instead of just memorizing a lot of information. This reading class was linked to my PSY class and it was very helpful. I feel like both classes worked really well together and the RDG class very much helped me improve my grade in PSY101. She obviously cares and the stuff I learned will help me in all my other classes. She met with me regularly one on one over google meets and helped a lot.

I thought that the class was just another English class that I didn't really need for my major but was forced to take. She is really creative and fun and this is a great class.

Professor Mcwhirter did a great job with this online class. I had a very positive experience with this course especially considering it was accelerated. There was a lot of reading, but she also had a lot of videos over each chapter that helped explain the reading. Each module had an activity and she gives good feedback. Highly recommend.

Anna made the course meaningful to me and easy to follow. She separated each section for each week, and she helped us know how long we have to spend for the assignments. The way she organized is so convenient and optimized, It helped me to schedule my time to spend for this class. The activities were fun and I learned A LOT.

I had a lot of mental health issues during the semester and I had to drop Anna's class. She is so caring and bent over backwards to help me. Even though I ended up dropping the class, I feel so positive. She is one of the most caring professors at MCC. I would recommend her for ANY class she teaches-- and I have already signed up.

I took this class with my psychology class and I almost dropped out, but Anna keep emailing me asking if I was alright. When I emailed back, she gave me ways to make up hte points. I got a C and probably would not have stayed in school with any other teacher. She really cares. And the class activities were really good. I recommend her.

This was the best online class I've had. Some of the ones I've taken are awful but Anna has really good assignments that link everything together. We had to watch the news and practice critically reading skills in the real world and then do something to help others. I am forever changed because of what I learned (in a good way). Anna is fantastic.

This class was paired with my PSY101 and it helped me ALOT. There was a lot that I was able to skip because at the beginning we had to show her our skills in reading on a pretest, and she exempted me out of a lot so it was personalized. The vocabulary work was really helpful for my psychology class and I squeezed and A in psy because of it.

Anna is lovely and I would recommend her for any class! She gives really personal feedback and if you follow her instructions, you always get a chance to make up for any mistakes you make. I started off with Cs but after making adjustments, I was getting As on everything and didn't have to take the final because I improved so much. Recommend HIGHLY

Anna is a great instructor. We met one day a week. There are no boring lectures, but stuff to view online. No books but a news assignment (easy and good) and we got a lot of interactions with our groups. I loved my group. We did service learning (great) and all tests were at home. And we got to use iPads for the whole semester. LOVED this class.

She did a lot of things in an online class that made me feel connected. For example she gave me personal comments on my work on a regular basis. And she set it up so that we had a virtual meeting with a few other people on our own schedules. I loved it. It was fun but not too much. She gives you a lot chances to recover when you mess up.And she's nice. Her instructions are long which is annoying also helpful at the same time. I took an 8 week class, so the due dates were like every couple of days but it was completely doable and got to be less as the semester went on (or maybe I just got quicker at doing it?). This was a really good class. It was tied to my psychology class and I was able to learn the vocabulary I needed based on what my psychology class was doing. This made me have higher grades on my psychology tests.

Really really good teacher. She gives you a pretest to do on the first day. Don't get sloppy on it. If you do well, she'll take off a fair amount of the material so all you have to do is show her what you're doing in your psychology class for each module. It saved me a lot of time but my boyfriend skipped it and had a LOT more to do.

Taking her winter class right now. She's excellent. Best online class I've ever taken. Very accessible and has already given me more feedback than I got in my fall classes combined. Highly recommend.

She did well. Her instructions online are long, but also very clear. It's easy to get a high score because she tells you everything you need to do to get it. Assignments were REALLY good-- not just busy work. And she's quick to answer email questions. Highly Recommend.

I loved this class. Anna is a very caring person and this comes through in the class. I had a lot going on during this class but she was really understanding and worked with me. The service learning part actually helped me with what I was going through. Highly recommend.

She's very helpful and the course is pretty easy to get through. The only thing that was horrible was the service learning hours. To complete this course you need 10 hours of volunteer work. I only did 5 hours and my grade dropped from a 92 to an 88. Just for something I didn't have time to complete.

I loved professor McWhirter and how she laid out the class in canvas. Best teacher I've had a MCC so far. Great teacher.

OMG! Take her! You will learn how to think. I thought this class was going to be about reading but it's really about improving how you think when you read so you don't get suckered into things. Her assignments are excellent because the really get you to think more. LOVED IT! Don't worry about the service learning. It's easy and she gives you time.

I liked the course layout in Canvas. It was really easy to find things. I also took her for CRE101. She helps you learn to think like a humanitarian. I enjoyed her class a lot and highly recommend for both PSY101 and reading or anything she teaches. Also she's super nice.

This professor really cares about you. She gave us feedback each and every time we submitted a paper. It made me feel like she was really paying attention to me. One of the best teachers I've taken so far.

I took this as a hyflex class and was able to stay in the class because of it. I could face time into my small group during class time. It saved me from having to withdraw. And I made some friends also. Loved the class.

This is one of the best professors I've had and one of the best classes I've had. She gave us really good assignments and it was easy to follow. Winter class was VERY fast paced but she was clear how much time it would take. Loved her class.

I liked this class so much. She has about 5 assignments per module (or week) and honestly the material that was taught was easy to digest and that made this class so much more enjoyable than other classes I've taken. She gives you time estimates before an assignment but they usually don't take as long (at least they didn't for me).

Very nice. Responds to emails quickly. She has you do videos at home and you get to do activities during the class days. Video lectures are short and not boring. The group activities are GREAT! I had a good group and really enjoyed going to this class. She even made an escape room type game for use to do as a review. It was challenging but fun.

Anna is very caring and approachable. I think the workload are great and spread out nicely. I took this as an 8 week class and it's a lot but it's mostly cuz it's condensed. We had assignments weekly. But most of them were pretty easy. Would take her again.

I loved this class and this professor. The feedback given has been very memorable, it is always great and detailed. Out of all my classes, I've received the most feedback from this one which I feel helped me improve and see where I made mistakes. And she is quick to respond to emails too. I learned a lot.

Took this class with flexible ways to join so I could zoom in if needed. Every class period was really good. She made it so enjoyable that we all came to class and hardly anyone zoomed in. I have a lot of respect for how she treated us. When we mentioned we didn't like the online part of the discussions, she changed things. Very caring person too.

Great instructor. The class activities were really fun. She LISTENS! And she gives good feedback. I feel like I learned a lot. This was actually one of the best classes and I could have tested out. I'm glad I took it and Professor McWhirter was great.

I barely missed being able to test out of the class, but she allowed me to take a test at the beginning and gave me an exemption from at least half the class. The assignments I did have to do were valuable and I didn't waste my time. I'm much better off after taking her class.

She definitely cares about you. Her feedback is quick. Some teachers take forever and all you get is a grade. She tells you what to work on to get better. Easy class if you just read the instructions. She makes it easy to get a good grade.

She had us make thought bubbles in our notes so she could tell what we were thinking. I found the way she teaches to be very meaningful to me because it showed me she wants her students to succeed and figure out ways she can help.

Excellent class. We were often given the opportunity to analyze arguments about problems that existed in the real world. That really made me want to do the best I could to solve this problem, as it was something I could use in real life. I enjoyed her class alot.

This class was really helpful. She is a great teacher and very caring. She reached out to me a lot during the semester and I really appreciate how she checked up on me. It motivated me to turn in my homework. I recommend her.

professor is kind, but the work was surprisingly difficult and time-consuming because it was often subjective and required extensive analysis. we also had to do volunteer work, where we were basically on our own. at least i learned how to think outside the box. type things instead of handwriting them, it saves time
